It had to start somewhere and it started with Mary Willard - Forensic Science - the beginning of CSI.

Mary was an assistant professor of chemistry at Penn State University in 1930 when she was first asked to assist with a criminal case.  By training and curiosity she became an expert in chemical analysis of evidence from crime scenes.

She became known nationally and internationally for her crime solving abilities by using chemistry.
