Black Angels - American Nurses Who Helped Stop An Epidemic

Tuberculosis had killed nearly 6 million Americans. It was spreading fast in New York.
White nurses at Sea View Hospital in Staten Island had fought a galant fight but after many years the challenge of caring for dying patients as well as the tragedy of watching fellow nurses succumb to the disease was too much. They fled their jobs in droves.
Black nurses in the South who were looking for a better life were hired to work at Sea View and they changed the course of the disease.
