When Humanity Fails
The façade has crumbled. What we're experiencing in America today isn't simply a political divide—it's a fundamental crisis of humanity.
Democracy is failing before our eyes. Fascist policies advance unchecked, detention facilities dubbed "alligator Alcatraz" appear in headlines, billionaires accumulate unprecedented wealth, and perhaps most disturbingly, a significant portion of Americans seem completely unbothered by it all. This episode takes an unflinchingly honest look at our current national nightmare, questioning whether our problems stem from politics at all or something far more fundamental: human nature itself.
After years of framing our divisions as Republican versus Democrat, conservative versus liberal, the painful truth emerges—our political system isn't broken, it's functioning exactly as designed. Both parties have contributed to our current predicament, suggesting the real division isn't red versus blue but between the wealthy elite and everyone else. The rich provide just enough to keep people entertained and docile while extracting maximum profit from the working class.
The most gut-wrenching realization? Approximately one-third of Americans actively care about their fellow citizens, another third are actively harmful, and the final third watch passively from the sidelines. How do you fix humanity when so many people simply don't care about anyone but themselves? Where can we find hope when winning political battles matters more than basic human decency? Is civil disobedience our only remaining option as traditional protests prove insufficient against escalating state power?

Hello and welcome to this fucking country. My name is Greg. Thank you for listening. Today I want to spend some time just talking about where we're at, but why we're there. I'm warning you ahead of time I'm very depressed. Things are not going well. The big bill just got passed. There's press about this alligator Alcatraz being constructed. There's press about this alligator Alcatraz being constructed.
Speaker 1:This country is certainly a shit show right now and seems to be fascist in every capacity. The billionaires are getting richer, everyone else is getting poorer and so much of our population doesn't seem to give a shit. And that's kind of like what I want to reflect on today. I don't really have a point. I'm just lost at this point and I feel like I need to just kind of say it out loud.
Speaker 1:I've been talking about the political side of things for years now. I've been thinking about us versus them, republicans versus Democrats, billionaires versus the poor, the whole class system, everything that's happening in America and probably has been a reality in America for generations since the country was formed. But I think this is like a turning point for how bad things might be, and will it be the end of our country as we know it? I don't know we might bounce back from this. I can't imagine how or when it's possible, but what dawned on me recently in my state of depression was that it's not politics. Politics is just this bullshit show that we've been led to believe means something, and it doesn't, because if you look at the history of how we got here, I mean we didn't get here only because one party. We got here because both parties basically had this happen. So it's been happening for decades. We've been on this path. They've been very clear and open and honest about what they plan to do. Nobody seemed to do anything, so it does make you wonder that both parties are complicit. I don't think anyone gives a shit, because all the politicians are getting rich. There's probably a handful of politicians out there that are upstanding people. I don't know if there's any Republicans anymore, because it seems like any Republicans that had any kind of moral code have just stopped running.
Speaker 1:Cheney surprised me, adam Kinzinger seemed to have some kind of a moral compass and they're like fuck this, I'm out Now. Mind you, I don't like the way they voted. If I look at their voting history, it was shit and it was all along the lines of Republicans and Trump the whole time. It's just when Trump became an anarchist, which is when they decided that, okay, that's too much, but the rest of the time they were with him, the Democrats were going along with everything. It's like, oh, we can't do anything, what can we do? It's sad and it's just weak. It's just sad and weak that I just can't believe that we, as Americans, have believed this shit for so long.
Speaker 1:What seems very clear right now is that this is, and always has been, just a class system. It's just the rich versus the poor. The rich need the poor because they need their working class to make them richer. So they have to keep us alive, they have to keep things in check, they have to keep people entertained enough so that they're not asking questions or rebelling, they just. Otherwise they don't make their money. And if they don't make their money, well, my God, then they're not going to be happy. It's like the breadcrumbs just enough to keep everybody happy. Keep enough everybody stupid and things move forward and they get richer and the country means nothing.
Speaker 1:So what dawned on me, finally, is that politics is bullshit. Okay, it's the game we use to make sense of this shit, which doesn't really make sense. What it really is about is humanity, us as people. And that's even more depressing because, when you think about it, all boils down to people. Okay, people either choosing to take care of each other or not, and it seems like there is a percentage of people, at least in this country, that really don't give a shit about anybody but themselves. It is so disheartening, it is foul.
Speaker 1:There are so many people that I have known over the years who are Republican, who will still vote for Trump Now. I have to assume that they're just not paying attention, that they're just watching Fox News and they're being fed whatever bullshit Fox is feeding people and that they're okay with that. They've got their life, they're making money, they're happy, they've got a family. They don't want to get too involved. All the shit that's happening doesn't seem to be affecting them yet. So you know, fuck it, I'm going to ignore it.
Speaker 1:My wife has this belief that it's going to work out, that this is a country that's been here for a while and has had bad times before and it's going to all work out. I disagree with her. I think this is something new, and I think this is something new and I think this is something dangerous, only because people don't give a shit. Now maybe they never have. I'm coming to that conclusion that I don't think people really have ever given a shit about each other. I think there's a small percentage of people who truly care.
Speaker 1:Again, I can split this into a political party, because it does seem. The Democrats want to pass laws so that everybody has a fighting chance, whereas Republicans are like you know fuck everyone else, we've got ours. They seem to be really concerned with winning. They don't seem to care that Trump is a felon or a criminal or just a horrible human being. They just love the fact that they're winning and they're making all the liberals sad and upset. That seems to really be fulfilling for them, which, again, very disheartening, is that they're not thinking about what's happening to other people, or maybe they are and they're okay with it.
Speaker 1:I honestly cannot figure out what exactly is going on, but everything points to humanity being just disgusting, and I don't know how you get away from that, because as long as I thought it was politics, then it was like something we could fight for. But if it's humanity, if humanity itself is flawed, which I truly believe it is, then we're fucked. I mean, how do you fix humanity? You can't convince somebody to care for somebody else. So what do we do? I used to think that, oh well, you know, the Republicans would win, we would win, the Democrats would win. It'd go back and forth and the Republicans would drive us into debt and they would take care of the rich people and the Democrats would come into power and they would pass some great laws. And then you get this Republican administration coming in and it's trying to take all that shit away and undo it all.
Speaker 1:So many people don't seem to care and I don't know what to do with that. I don't want to be around people anymore. I've got a handful of people that I know and I love, who are like-minded, and they're just as angry and they're just as sad and depressed as I am. And thank God I have them because you know, I don't feel completely alone. But I don't want to be around people anymore. I don't want to be in crowds of people, because all I could think of is what kind of a human being are you? There's a 50-50 chance they're just a horrible human being who doesn't give a fuck about anybody but themselves. And again, what do you do with that? How do you fix that? I don't believe in any kind of God or religion, so I can't find any kind of hope or peacefulness there. You know, the people who claim to be Christians seem to be the shittiest fucking people in this country.
Speaker 1:So where do you go from here? Where do you go? I mean, I've gotten some happiness, I've gotten some positivity, watching people march, watching people go into the streets and fight and do what they think is right. So I know there are good people out there. I know there's people out there who care, but I think we're outnumbered. I mean, I think we're greatly outnumbered.
Speaker 1:I think there's a saying about there's a third of the country would murder another third of the country while a third of the country watched. I think that's true, which basically means there's a third of humanity that actually give a shit. The other third are horrible, and then there's a third that just doesn't care. What do you do with that? I just don't know. I have days where I just want to give up, but I have three children that I very much love and adore and I can't quit and leave this world the way it is, the way it's going for them to be stuck with these kids, these, this new generation will be, will be stuck. All this debt, all this shit, it's all gonna be on them. I'll be dead. So it's. My children are gonna suffer because of these fucking horrible people and I. I can't have that happen. I have never in my life been a violent person, but these days I have my CCL and I carry my gun everywhere because I don't trust anybody. I think we live in an unlawful, unlawful nation with unlawful agencies and government that will just steal people, kidnap them, take them and make them disappear, and I can't have that happen to my family. I just don't have an answer. I don't know if there is an answer.
Speaker 1:I keep hoping that patriots will appear, people who are within the administration, who see what's going on and feel that something has to be done. I'm close enough to make a difference and I'm going to do something. I hope for that. I don't think that's going to happen, but I do hope for that. I also hope for natural catastrophes. I hate to admit that, but the fact of the matter is I don't see anything changing unless mother nature kind of gets involved and some shit hits the fan. We have some horrible storms, as I'm sure we will. We're not prepared for it. We don't have people and places to take care of it. Fema is being disappeared, so there will be no help coming from the government and, again, I only hope that these catastrophes are hitting red states, the people who voted for Trump.
Speaker 1:I have no doubt that they will not learn from this, that they will simply buy whatever bullshit Fox News tells them oh yeah, this is all Biden's fault from before, or whatever kind of shit they spin. I have no doubt that they'll believe this, even with flooding going on in Texas. They're just they're going to spin it, so it sounds like it's not their fault. And people again these fucking people believe it. What do you do with that? How can you change people's minds and hearts? I don't see a way. I do not see a way out of this.
Speaker 1:So, with that being said, with my utter state of despair out there for everybody to enjoy, there are things we can do. If we bring it back down to everyday politics, there are lots of things we could do. There is boycotting. We could shut down the entire system, which I think is going to have to happen. I think everyone's going to have to just stay home. I don't know if that's very realistic, because people still have to live, they have to make a living, but something's got to happen on a grand scale, and it's possible.
Speaker 1:But again we get back to the humanity thing. Where can you get enough people to just shut it all down? Do the right thing to make a difference. Can you convince people who don't really seem to give a shit about anyone else that they need to get involved and they need to care? Can we do that?
Speaker 1:I know there's some great organizations out there. They're continuously fighting, they're continuously bringing lawsuits, they're continuously setting up protests and marches, and that's fantastic and I hope they keep moving on with that. I think it's time for these same organizations, though, to up the game and create more of a civil disobedience, a protest, something a little bit more severe, a little bit more in your face. I don't know if they'll do that. I don't know if any organization will do that. I know it's going to be hard to kind of run something like that and keep it under the radar, but things have got to change and it's going to take more than just people in the street doing this, because I think, now that we know that the budget for ICE has been increased by what? 20 times, something insane. I know they're just going to be hiring more of these fucking KKK goons. They're going to be masked and armed and I have no doubt that the Marines and everyone else is going to be getting orders to start shooting people at will.
Speaker 1:I'm sure that's coming down. I have no doubt civil war is coming. I just hope that we can do something about it. How do you fight humanity when humanity sucks? I don't know. I told you this was going to be depressing and I delivered. I would love to have this conversation again if anybody would like to come on with me and give me a sense of hope or a spin this in some way. That would be interesting and useful for a future podcast. So until then, thanks for listening and we'll see you soon.
