that a, is that a
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Uh,
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:hotel room, Leo, like an Airbnb or what You got?
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:I got Airbnb. Yeah, I got, I got an Airbnb with like a big deck and a Jai and stuff overlooking the bay.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Fuck sake.
How would you describe the culture surrounding this football team? You know, the culture is actually damn good. Daniel looking, moving to his left under pressure, stays on his feet. Uh, now he falls the end zone. It is caught for a touchdown by.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Welcome to another edition of the Hail on Free podcast. My name is Josh. It is Friday evening. I'm joined by James across a very wet, rainy autumnal London and Lee from a very, I'm assuming, sunny, warm San Diego. Lee, how are you?
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Hello sports fans. I'm doing great, Josh. It is actually just the sun is just about to burn, burn through, which is, is usual for this time in, in the morning. And then we should be clear, clear skies and a sunny day. I'm sure that you would, uh, wanna swap the weather out maybe,
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Wanna swap the river out? Wanna swap probably the location out at this point and a day, a day without work. Um.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:The annual leave would
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Extended weekend. How are you, James?
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah. Great. Um, Fri Friday evening, uh, has begun here, so, ready to move on from the week that's been. And, uh, looking forward to a, a sports weekend, even if it is raining at the moment.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Absolutely. Uh, this is our LA charges preview show. Um, off the back of what was, I guess, probably one of our feistier podcasts on Monday. Recapping the, the kind of brutal loss to the, to the falcons, especially in terms of how we played defensively. Um, we are in better spirits now as it's the end of the week and we are looking forward and we're, we're still, you know, at 500 and we look forward to, um, the game on Sunday and hearing about Lee's experience. Um, but let's, I did want to briefly touch on a couple of things. Uh, there's a game last night, which Lee, I'm assuming you watched somewhere, uh, with an alcoholic beverage, a burger, that kind of vibe.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:the
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah, come on. That's a good game as well, right?
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Yeah, uh, I'll, I will set the scene. Um, so I'm actually my old, my old neighborhood. I got an Airbnb where I used to live about a decade ago now. And then when he, I was walking around yesterday afternoon, I was like, Jesus, I can't believe I actually used to live here. It's so, it is so beautiful. But I probably moved away'cause I just can't really afford to live here. Um, went to a sports bar in the middle of the afternoon'cause the Padres were playing the Cubs in the decider. and there was a lot of San Diego Padres fans pretending to work on their laptops, watching, watching the baseball. By the way, baseball, like playoff baseball is just so good and I don't even really love baseball that much. It's like a different sport, isn't it? So I enjoyed that the Cubs were successful, so the sports bar was not too happy. Um, and then I walked to one of my favorite, uh, burger joints in the beach neighborhood. I'm at a place I used to visit frequently. I sat down to watch the Thursday night football game with a fantastic California hamburger and fries and a couple of beers. Uh, so yeah, I can't
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Ugh.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:was, it was really, it was really
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:I know, I noticed you didn't say the name of the pla. Are you worried that the fans are gonna mob you if you, if you give us exact locations?
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Look, this place doesn't, this place doesn't need my rigging endorsement. It. You're lucky to get to get a seat at that bar. Um, but yeah, very, very good place. So hit me up if you wanna, if you wanna know about it, if you're ever in the San Diego area.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:but are you, are you keeping a low profile Lee?'cause you know you're a famous podcaster now. You know, some Redskins fans are in town. Are you laying low?
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:I'm keeping a very low profile, you know, it's like. This is also where I used to live when I was in my twenties, so I could
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:into anyone around here.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Um, okay.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:No, no. Jacob is taking aside. I always like whenever I come back here, um, and this is why I couldn't like live here long term for a few reasons. One, the time zone is like really tough if you're a UK sports fan. Um, but unless you actually grow up in this environment, I just dunno how you get any work done. It's just like, it's, it's like too nice. It's, I've realized that California is a better place to visit than live one from a financial perspective, and two, because everything is just almost too beautiful all the time in terms of weather and stuff. I think you need a bit of a change of the seasons to kind of keep you within the flow of the working year. Does that make sense? But yeah, a beautiful, uh, part of the world, no doubt about that.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah. Um, I, I feel similarly about, um. Kind of, if I'm, even if I'm in the countryside of the uk, I'm just like, I just, this, I feel detached from the hustle and bustle of the work and I just don't wanna do anything. Um, and let, that's without the weather. Um, weird game and a good game last night as well. One of those, um, classic, um, divisional games that, um, I don't think many people would've picked the niners of all their injury issues to win that one.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:It went to
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Hmm.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:it? the other nine ERs won. The Rams had a shot at the end, uh, to win it from memory. And they kicked the field goal to take it into overtime. I think Stafford threw one towards the end zone, like kind of a safe row. Um, that, so it couldn't get picked, but it didn't have much of a chance to win it. And then, they, uh, they kicked the field goal and Niners, the Niners pulled it out in overtime. So to me, there's some teams in the NFC that are not really set in the world alike, but not losing games like the nine ERs are four and one that seems hard to believe, doesn't it? No one's really
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:No,
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:them, or maybe they are,
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:a surprising record given the narrative and, and the injury issues they've got. And, um, a win like that last night is, is huge for them in the division and, and the conference, like you said. Um. Cool. Alright. Look, let's, um, before we, we, before go on
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:um, Kendrick born in that game, 10 receptions, 147 yards. He was in our building. Um, we could do someone like him this weekend
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:the Born Identity,
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:That's brutal. Didn't he have the, he had the choice, didn't he?
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:yeah, yeah, yeah.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:go, Ugh. Absolutely brutal. That one because we are just so.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:I.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Finn at the
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah,
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:but we'll get into that.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:we will, we will, um, especially as we look at predictions and matchups and that kinda stuff later in the pod. Um, and before we look back. Lee's look back game. Um, I wanted to quickly touch on something you mentioned on Monday, Lee, about the, um, the, the film breakdown guy, Steve Suiter, who goes on Kev Sheen's podcast. Um, I think in, in lieu of Chris Cooley, who I, God knows what he's up to at the moment, but he's not kind of going on there anymore doing his film breakdowns, but he's got Steve Suiter on, has Kevin, um, to talk through the film and kind of pick over things as a, as an ex, um. College football player and, and Canadian football player. Um, I listened to the pod, um, I dunno if you did as well or either if you did. Um, but Steve goes through the kind of issues on the defense predominantly. Um, I'm not gonna go into too much detail on it, but basically the, the takeaway, his takeaway from it was essentially. The team's going nowhere. If the defense doesn't improve it, is that bad? And we kind of touched on the fact that we thought they were losing before the snap. There was personnel and scheme issues and coaching issues. There wasn't any quick fix. All of that was kind of confirmed by Suter in his review. Um, some specifics on players and, and kind of things that we are doing that. Like you said, Lee, the motions are really confusing them. Basically it was all really hard listening and then there wasn't much hope defensively from it. Um, so something to keep an eye on and if people are interested in a bit more of an Xs and nose thing than to listen each week to suit her on she. And um, and yes, that will certainly play into a few of our chats about the game on Sunday, I'm sure. Or
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:I told you Sandra Seal was playing really bad
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:hmm.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:He was really picking up on that, wasn't he? So it is, they're going after Latimore and Mikey. So hearing it from somebody who knows what they're talking about in terms of the, the film break down in, in more detail is a, is a little bit concerning.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:One of the things they said he said as well was, um. In terms of she and asked him a question about Dan Quinn taking over play calling. But it's a bit different. It's like play, play calling defensively, you know, just Dan Quinn taking over on, on game day is isn't the same as changing the scheme, changing protections, changing personnel, you know, all that stuff. It, it, you know, just. Calling a kind of zone versus a man or a certain cover protection in the game is different to this defense isn't working fundamentally, which is kind of, I think, where we were getting at with it. So not sure that's gonna make a huge difference if that happens at some point in the future Anyway. But something to keep an eye on and offensively, the one thing that you, you mentioned Lee, before we started that Steve said was around those sweeps and, and James, you mentioned this, the first play of the game last week, and they're getting cute to the sweeps and it's just too obvious. We need to kind of do a bit of action off that, I think, don't we? So, um, some good stuff there and um, just for, I bring it up as we mentioned it on Monday, but, um, let's go back further in time. I am sure what everyone tunes in for now, uh, which is Lee's lookback game and, uh, not as many to pick from this time. Lee.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Yeah, not as many to pick from is correct. In fact, there was maybe six games I could have chosen. It really goes to show, doesn't it? The A FC the NFC in terms of rotation. obviously we don't play them often, but it just seems crazy to me that we've only actually had 12 meetings in our history. And Washington over the chargers are seven and five, so we're slightly ahead in the series. First game was back in 1973, and the last one was a home opening loss in 2021. Uh, the game Fitz got injured, I believe. Does that ring a bell?
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:It does. Now you mention it. Uh uh. I wouldn't have remembered it until you said the game fits got engine in, but now I do very much remember that. Yes.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Yeah, and we'll call that my honorable lookback because I haven't had a chance to do any others. So there you go. 2021.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:Too busy eating burgers.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:too busy on the move? Yeah, I could have done with maybe a, a week between trips, trying to fit a few days, work in between there. Uh, but yeah, I'm going back guys, and feel free to jump in with any questions or any comments or observations through the look back. I'm going back to the very same season. Um, that I'd done for the Raiders look back. So, 1983 again, uh, James, I'm not sure if you've noticed this, but not only do I have to pick a road game at times, I've even picked the same stage and month for the season. So here we go again. This was October, 1983. The research is off the charts. Uh, it was actually Halloween night
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Oh,
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:and.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:speak here.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:the, yeah. Yep. The defending Super Bowl champion Washington Redskins. Were rolling in six and two at the season's. Halfway Mark on the San Diego Chargers at three and five. The game was played probably five miles away from where I'm sitting now. Unfortunately, the uh, site doesn't really exist and the team is now in Los Angeles, but we go. It's a bit of a shame because I thought it was a pretty good football town, but they've obviously taken a lot of their fans, fans with them anyway, so the game in its entirety. As I said, we were the Super Bowl champs coming in, so we were pretty strong favorites. We had a good start to the season. Um, at six and two and the game got off to a decent start with Joe Fireman finding Virgil C for a touchdown. Uh, the Chargers came back and it went into the half, um, ten seven up to the skins. Then in the third quarter. Now I want you to, I want you to watch this play, James.'cause you know how I, how I like to. educate
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:Love you specifically.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Yeah. Yeah. So this, this, this game, which, this is the reason I had to choose this game. I may have put this in our chat back in the day at some point. This has my favorite Washington Special teams play of all time. our punter, Jeff Hayes, uh, he takes the ball and just sidesteps the oncoming rush. And he, for a punter, this geezer is so fast and he just literally runs across the field all the way deep into the red zone. I think he gets tackled about inside the five. It's, it's an incredible run.
To James Brooks Hayes. He's gonna get the first time Jeff Hayes in a full sprint and don't believe this Jeff Hayes inside the five to the 3 51 yard pickup.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:And why I want you to watch it. I want you guys to suggest, do you think that he was gonna punt the ball and the, the Russia had just beat the protection, so he sidestepped in and just took off? Or was it an actual design? Fake punt? I think it was a
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:I'm gonna, I'm gonna find this now. You keep talking. I'll get back to you on that.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Okay. Yeah. Try, try and find it. Try and find it. Um, Josh can send you the clip, maybe, if not,'cause I, I'd send
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:What's this guy's name? Jeff.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Jeff Hayes, 19 80, 19 83 against the Chargers. Uh, anyway, he runs it inside the five incredible special teams play. John Riggins does The rest rumbles in from a couple of yards out. Uh, his first are two touchdowns on the day, but the chargers, they keep it really close. They play really, really competitively, and it takes a two minute from Joe Fiman at the DEF to set up Mark Mosley for the game winner with a few seconds to spare. Wash it and get out of there with a 27 24 victory
Hay's Void set up the first of two Riggins touchdowns. Unfortunately, for Washington, the charges kept the game close, but with less than two minutes left. Seman was squarely at the helm when the Redskins began their drive for the winning score. Seman completed five of seven passes to move Washington into field goal range, with only seconds to go from 37 yards up. Eisman set, snapped. Hold kick is up long enough. Is it good? It's good. It's good that we'll do it right there.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Nice. A win.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:A win. And also back in, you can even see back in the eighties the amount of Washington fans in there in Southern California.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:While, um, while James, uh, finds and, and watches this go on, what do you reckon
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:He was gonna
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:you think
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:That that was, yeah, that was ad hoc. That was, um, that was gonna get blocked. That, that, that, that was,
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:more
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:that was, that was gonna get blocked. I, I, I don't think that, I don't think that was planned. I think he made an
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:that?
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:He flew, he flew.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah, that, that often goes wrong, isn't it? When you see that happen and they like, you know, do a Duke and then you think they, they usually beat the first guy who's coming to block it.'cause they obviously are looking to kind of put their hands up. But after that it can go horribly wrong, like when they're on the run. But that was Superf. Yeah.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:Surprised. I haven't seen more Jeff Hayes jerseys out there.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Handsome looking blo.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Wow. Well, he, he cuts across field and the block is like really good, isn't it? That plays like amazing to me. Uh, but if you look it up. I, I believe his next team was the Cincinnati Bengals and he does the same thing and he
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:I.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:so that's why I'm just wondering if it was, he's so fast. Rep punter. Imagine tress weight running like that.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:All. It's amazing.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Um, trying to find that
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:So he also, he also, I'm just reading him here. So, um, he scored a touchdown. He also scored a touchdown. He scored, sorry. He scored a touchdown running for a 61 yard touchdown while playing for the Bengals against the Steelers virus.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:why
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah. Yeah. 61 yards though.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Yeah, so I, that's why I wonder maybe, or maybe'cause he went to the Bengals after I believe so. Maybe they saw that play and just ran it as a design play so fast. Uh, Jeff Hayes. Love
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah, amazing.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:There you
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Um, looking at preferable reference, um, for that, so Chargers coach is Don Elle at the time, who people either know or dunno about. His offensive scheme, which was kind of revolutionary at the time, air Corelle that it's kind of been known as since. So a kind of, you know, one of the first guys to put people in motion and have a timing throwing offense. People on the spot ball coming out before they're there, receivers in motion before the snap, all over the field. Just confusing defenses. It was kinda revolutionary at the time. And weirdly has links as well to skins because North Turner and. For a time it was, well, Al Saunders, both kind of big proponents of the air coel offense and versions of that. So a nice link between, um, chargers coach at the time and, and later versions of the Redskins.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:I've got one more, uh, or two more things for you
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Mm-hmm.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:game. Virgil C who caught the first touchdown, was a very short, wide receiver, but a really good player. And he was nicknamed, um, as part of the fun, fun, fun bunch. And he was one of the Smurfs'cause he was so small. But yeah, good player. And you may remember in the Raiders, uh, look back, I said to you about that being the highest scoring points offense of all time until the Vikings in 97 took the record. So we were averaging 37 points a game. So I've got a question for you. There's some more records from this season. you wanna have a guess at our turnover differential? I'll go to you first, and that's kind of a hot topic this season. Say, what do you
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Oh,
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:differential
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:knows.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Just have a guess.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Plus seven.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Okay. James?
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:I reckon it's, I reckon it's something I'm going plus 20.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:So our turnover differential in 1983 was plus 43.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:What?
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:We
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:games? I.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:we had 61 turnovers, and our turnover differential was plus 43, and we were averaging 37 points a game. That's gotta be a record. That
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Uh, yeah, that's, I'm looking. That is worth, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He is
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:How do you imagine that? Plus over 40
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:the, yeah,
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:scoring nearly 40
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:still the record. So 43 Differential, mostly driven by forcing 61 turnovers, which is also an record.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:Li Lee, if you could teleport back to any year, would it be 1983?
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:I just, I just think this team needs more love.'cause they didn't win the
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah,
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:They just got blown out on the biggest stage. But they're probably our best team. If not, maybe just behind the 91 team. probably better than the 82 team. And I wasn't even born, so I, I, someone just needs to take me to a beer that used to be going to these games.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:I probably bo bore them all night asking about our special teams in secondary.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Oh, that's great. So two Riggins touchdown runs, both are basically on the goal line. Right. So it's to watch those as well, smash them in, I'm sure. Um, Mark Mosley. Yeah. Kick and field goals.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:he had the old tow pump field world,
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah. And you used to get the distance, like 43 yarder in this game. 37 yard. And not a problem with, with that, you know, um, 71 degrees. Not bad at that time of the year.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Not bad. Not bad. Not bad For a night
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:A 52 A.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:That was Monday
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah. Oh, okay. Oh, wow. Okay. 52.5 was the over under. That's quite high, isn't it? 1983.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:It's quite a high. Yeah, it's'cause we were putting up so
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah, it was just,
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:But a good effort. Good effort. From the charger. They were coming in under 500 and took us right down to the, to
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:yeah. Yeah.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:What did they finish up? If you're on the keyboard, what do they finish up that year? Do they make the playoffs San
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:good question.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:or do.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:Get your keyboard
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Keyboard out. They, uh, six and 10. So, so, so, no.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:they barely want, yeah.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Um,
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:that put a nail in the
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:yeah, maybe, yeah, Dan Feltz. Um, and that, oh, a number of, of quarterbacks actually by the looks of it. So yeah. Interesting stuff. Brilliant one. That one Lee. Really good. I'm gonna be going through some of those highlights for sure. I'll clip some stuff in as well. Um. 27. 24. Yeah. I wonder if we're gonna get a matched score at some point with, with this as well. That'd be interesting.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:I think this
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Oh, okay. We'll see what we get to at the end in terms of our predictions. Um, let's, let's look forward then to the game. Um, an interesting one. I'm not gonna call it the same as. The Falcons in terms of like a what, like a wounded team, wounded animal game or whatever like that, that was a genuine, um, coming from a 30 to nothing against a divisional rival and then, and then going back home. But charges obviously did, um, have a, a bit of a nightmare against the Giants, um, last week losing 2118. And that will be playing on my mind a little bit as they want to bounce back. Annoying that we get teams at these points. However, they are very, very banged up. So that kind of old adage about you, it's not who you play, it's when you play them that hopefully in terms of the injuries is true for us at this point. So they're all over the shop with injuries. Offensive lineman, Joe Alt went out last week and is done, and that is only one of a litany of injuries they've had on their line since preseason. So Justin Herbert is getting pressured all over the show. Um, and that will be, I'm sure, uh, a key thing for us in this game. Um, I'm gonna turn it over to James though, because he has a matchup matrix for us live this time. Um, and it would be good to hear that and have a proper discussion on one between the three of us. So, James, um, what's your matchup matrix for this week?
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:Josh, great segue into my matchup matrix.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:at this.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah. Um, so I'm looking at our pass rush, our pass rush versus the depleted Los Angeles Charger offensive line. they've been one of the past happiest teams in the league, which has been a bit of a surprise to many. Um, so it's a question of do they go away with this with all their injuries? You've mentioned the Joe. Injury seems to be out for several weeks. on top of the injury preseason they had to Slater. I think Mackay Becton is in the concussion protocol as well. Um, as you say, he's ge he's getting pressured at a a record rate. I've got a litany of stats here. Um, have him on pace for like record pressures. Um. So let's start with, so Herbert has been hit 26 times in just the past two games. been pressured on 47% of his drop backs in that span. Over the past, those same past two weeks, Herbert has been pressured on 46 drop backs. The quarterback with the next most pressured drop backs over the past two weeks as Joe Flacco with 11 less. Herbert is on PCB, hit 140 times a sea this season. Um. He is never taken more than 109, nine hits in a season. The most hits a quarterback has taken in any season was Kurt Cousins in 2022 of 131. So he is on pace to be at that. He's also on pace to be pressured on 295 drop backs. Um, in 2013, the most pressured ever was the Atlanta Falcons, Matt Ryan of 290. So he was on pace to have more than that as well. Um. So, yeah, they're having problems protecting the passer. He's getting hit a lot and they've been passing a lot. So it's gonna be interesting to see, do they go away from that?'cause our strength has been, if there is a strength for run, there are run defense. Um, so that is the matchup we are looking for here, that have to get to Justin Herbert on this. Everyone else is doing it. They're more injured than they've ever been. There's absolutely no reason. Um. players performing well such as Dorrance Armstrong, there's no reason we can't get to the quarterback. And if our run defense performs well, then they'll be a bit stuck with what to do. Um, so is my matchup matrix.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Nice one I was looking I, I just guess James, that, that probably would be, would be the matchup matrix,
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Predictable.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:it makes all the sense in the, in the world. No, no, it that, that's the only way we're gonna beat them, in my opinion. But. I guess my surprise was on Monday and I don't do the do the gambling thing, but I look at the lines'cause it just shows kind of how, the perception of how close the game is gonna be. And I just assumed we were gonna be like six, seven point underdogs going, going there. And then the Giants score obviously raised my attention and then I looked into all these injuries and yeah. That's unbelievable. Say. That does give me a little bit more hope and the two games our defense has performed well is it's getting the pressure, but we are still playing a much better callback
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:Mm.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:than there were those other two games where we got pressure.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:And you know, if we don't get pressure to him, you know, they've got, their receivers are performing at a very high level. Um, the guy on your fancy team, Josh, I've forgotten his name. Yeah.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Quinn Johnson. Yeah.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:He, he's, he's having a hell of a year and he got kelan nan rolling back the ears
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Hmm.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:And, uh,
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:back the years is right. It's
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:yeah,
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:2015 kilo now.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:yeah. So if we don't get to'em, they can cause us problems with the weapons they've got, but, there's no reason we shouldn't be getting to the quarterback in this
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah, I, I,
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:So is is Joe. Oh, the backup to the backup that
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:well he was, he's a right tackle, but they moved him over to
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:yeah.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:and he was doing a great job of doing that as well. Um, now he's down, and I believe their interior has been a nightmare for them as well so far. So was the one shining light, I think is, is protection on the left. So, uh, yeah, it's a good
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Here's a, here's a top five tackle who they had to move. Through necessity and is now down and they're, they're, they're struggling big time. Um, so I, I think it's the perfect matchup to choose and, um, totally agree with it. And actually it will link to my kind of stat line, uh, later on in the pod. But I wonder what you think then about. How we go about doing it. Um, because there was a bit of discussion about that on other podcasts and stuff and, and reading this week about how, how do we play defense when we've got so many holes in the secondaries playing so badly. Now my view is, I. There's two ways to go about it. You send the house a lot more and you just go after them and you try and cause chaos and hit him, and obviously you don't wanna injure him, but like, you know, make him shaky and throwing the ball up and all that stuff. You do that or you send four and try and play everything in front of you and play. Ben, don't break. Now. Just from a kind of fan perspective, Ben, don't break is so depressing to watch sometimes when they just mark around, mark, uh, just walk along the field and we just have it, you know. A couple of missed tackles further down, first down to conversions, et cetera, and then you hope that they just kick a field goal or whatever. I don't like that as much, so I'd like to see a sense, some genuine pressure and wit to kind of. Get a bit more bolshy and a bit more confident and send people in different, um, corners and safeties and linebackers and, and just really go after him.'cause you get in their face early and, and stuff can happen. I think if you try and sit back, um, and hope for the best with four, it is a little bit more of a lottery. That's just my view though. Little.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah. want to go after him early. Um, it's gonna be on his mind. You'd think that he's not gonna have the best protection. So if you can kind of get to him early and kind of just set the tone and then after that it'll still need to be a bit balanced because Herbert is very capable of probably getting the ball out quickly and with the weapons they have can cause us problems. So, um, being more aggressive early on would be the way to go, in my opinion.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Let's talk a little bit about, um, on the offensive side, because I know we're gonna probably focus a lot on defense now, given how the defense, um, has played and the issues that, that we've already discussed. But the big news on the offensive side is that Jaden Daniels is cleared medically, uh, as of yesterday and a full part. Practice, and therefore Jayden will be starting this game on Sunday, which is great news. Obviously the key thing is, is he fully fit? Let's hope so. If he's fully fit and he's firing on all cylinders like we saw last year, we've got a chance in every game. Uh, Lee, what's your expectation for like Jayden coming back into this game and also how you think they'll go about it offensively?
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Yeah, I mean it's, it's probably the big story for us coming in, isn't it? We actually ma managed to get 35 minutes in before, before mentioning Jay Daniels is back where it is great news for us. just has to see how limited he is in terms of his mobility. Um, he can sit back there and and pass it, can't he? Like, he's got every tool in his arsenal, but he's obviously so much more effective when he's got the defense worried about him with, you know, rushing with his legs as well. So, sounds like he's gonna have to wear the knee brace, doesn't it? That said, I don't think they'd put him out there if they were, they're worried about his mobility too much, so I would love for them to. Just kind of mess with them and call a, call a run. Play as safe as you can early just to really free them off a little bit,
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:To Bill as well. Let's go to Bill. Straight outta the gate. I know you let your man Chris be good.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Oh no, sorry, I meant, I meant a
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Oh, I did. Oh,
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:run
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:right. Nice.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:to keep this, sorry. Yeah. To keep the charges just
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Oh God. One hip drop tackle.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:but as no as safe. No as safe as you, as safer run, play as you can with the out of bounds as a target. Just to say, Hey, I can still run the ball today.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yep.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:I do think that would cha their defense is, is has been pretty stout hasn't it? They haven't given up many points this year, so I think they're gonna test him early and see if how mobile he is. So I would like to still keep them on their toes that he can still be a threat with his legs. But yeah, it's gonna be really interesting in terms of scheme like, and when we talk about the coaching grading next week,'cause we have some strengths against their weaknesses, but they do against ours as well. So could really come down to coaching this week.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah, it'd be very interesting for both offenses really'cause both defenses, well charges are very good against the run. Our strength has been against the run. Um. So you'd think both teams wanna pass more, but they've got a banged up offensive line, Herbert might not have time to do so we got a banged up receiver room, so running out, both teams have run out of avenues to produce on offense, so it'd be interesting to see how it goes just on Daniels. Um, said that, I think you're probably gonna have to put on his cape this week. Um. With all the injuries we have, but I believe it is some sort of homecoming for him, right? Um, he said he is got lots of family and friends there. he's gonna be desperate to show up in this one. So I'd be very surprised if we don't see, um, the Jade Daniels we know and love, uh, from last season in this one.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Yeah.'cause he is a California kid, obviously, and we didn't play in California on the road last year if memory serves, so it must be his first NFL game in his home state.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah, he is. He's, he is born in San Bernardino, which is. Like it is not that far from LA at all. Um, closer to LA than Santa Barbara is. So, um, yeah, this is a big, big homecoming for him. Um, I was just looking at some of the guys on the, on the defensive side for the charges.'cause you mentioned how stout they've been. They've got more sax than us so far through this season. Um, they've still got Khalil Mack, um, in his twilight years. Um, bud Dupre as well.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:I think he's, I think Max's injured.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:his
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:think Max's injured
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:wow. Okay. So do, and James then probably is the, from the, from the back end, the, the big name on that defense. Um, okay. Gotcha. Cool. Alright, let's, um, uh, actually let's talk a little bit about their, um, their rookie running back.'cause Did, did, I dunno, James, did you do an Amari in Hampton deep dive before the season or was it Yeah.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:a little bit. I was more heavier Henderson, but yeah, we did, we did a little Hampton pre-draft item as a first round. Pick not too far from where he ended up I think it's well publicized, the charges wanting
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:and he's come to life the past couple of weeks, um, with Najee Harris, um, going down. So yeah, I think that's gonna be a, a big challenge. Um,'cause they're obviously gonna wanna run the bull, um,
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yep.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:with the past protection, not obviously going very well for them.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:He's a home run fret. Right. He had a really long touchdown, I think against the giants. Yeah. Fifth 54 yarder. So something to be wary of. While we think so much about trying to stop the pass and Justin Herbert, there's still a guy there, a youngster with confidence, um, that can break it as well. Um, let's talk then about. My, uh, my, my matchup mate stealing your thing there, James. Uh, my stat line, um, which hasn't been going as well since the first week when I, I sort of nailed it. Um, and you mentioned this already, I'm getting my phone up so I can look specifically at the exact stats. Quentin Johnston, who is a second year guy who had a really weird first season when they drafted him quite high, but he had like. Terrible hands and had loads of drops. I remember Glen, our kind of resident Chargers fan friend being really frustrated with the output and he is come out this season and played brilliantly. So he had five for seven for 79 yards and two touchdowns in the open against Kansas City. Um. He's then had three for seven for 71 yards in a touchdown against the Raiders. Six for 10 for 89 yards against Denver, and then eight for 13 for 98 yards in a touchdown against New York. So gen genuinely an absolute threat and is getting volume of. Of touches as well, not just the, the occasional deep balls a speedster. Um, so my, my stat line, we win the game. If this stat line happens is very specific to him this week because of our defense, I think it will probably be telling as to how we've performed defensively and how much the charges are on the field offensively as to how many yards he gets. He hasn't broke a hundred yards yet. But because we're struggling so much defensively, if we can keep him under a hundred yards, I think we'll win the game. I know that's very specific, but I want to get into it a little bit more. And I think that's probably, you know, a, a, a, a reductionist thing to say one guy in his yardage totals, but he could tear us apart the way we've been playing defensively in the back end. And if we can hold him and we can, we can. Keep them to more underneath stuff of people like Alan and not let him break two massive bombs down the field where you know, we're miscommunicating and it's two touchdowns and 125 yards on six catches, which is just something that I fear might happen. If we can stop that, then I think we've got a great shot. Then that's gonna be my matchup this week, which is a stat line that if we hopefully keep him under a hundred, we can win the game.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:I like that one. Josh. I was just, when you put out there, I was just trying to think what kind of style offense, um, the charges are and kind of what Herbert's natural game is. They, he can get the ball out fast, but he just strikes me as more of a like drop back pass who likes a big play, doesn't he? So that's where it will be really interesting to see if we can, if we can limit that. I think both teams have the potential to get a bit past happy as
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Hmm.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:But it might, it's really gonna be who, uh, who deviates from that and is more successful, I think.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah,
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:one.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:like that, Josh, because if he has a massive game, as you say, over a hundred yards, it means there's been some big broken. Which
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah,
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:been our problem, so great.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:and some points probably on those, right as well, if they're those sort of deep passes that he's been known for, for corralling and also. Like you said on, on your matchup matrix. If Herbert's got the time, then he probably will find people, and it's like I've said after the Packers game, I'm worried against any good quarterback regardless of what the situation is with that team. Any good quarterback could pick us apart if we're playing that way defensively. So we, we all see. I obviously hope that doesn't happen even though he's on my fantasy team.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:James, when you look back at your Matrix, did the numbers you threw out there, Herbert was getting pressured. Loads, but was kind of avoiding the sacks a little bit. Right. I did notice he, some of them games, he only took a couple of sacks, which sounded quite impressive really. But I guess the production wasn't there in terms of the actual
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah, I was,
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:it's just the pressure on him.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:yeah, I was reading the article with the local athletic writer for them. Uh, I've forgotten his name. Um, yeah, there wasn't many sacks, so it was all, he's, he's been hit a lot and he's under pressure a lot, but he is, you know, he's avoiding the sacks, you know, he is mobile and he, he can think quickly and get the ball out. But, yeah, I think with Joe, out, with Joe out out now, um, it should be a, it should be a frenzy.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Armstrong baby.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Let's hope so. He's certainly been playing well on by biometrics, isn't he? So let's hope so.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:We haven't brought like the, we haven't brought many corner blitzes or anything. I
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:No,
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:as well. It's not that they can cover it, cover anyone, so
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:that's, that's, that's, and, and it's the easiest job. It's the easiest thing to do, right? Like if it's a genuine corner blitz, all you've gotta do is run at the quarterback and try and get to him. It's not like you have to think too much. Um, so I agree with that.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:more. Will probably still get flagged on the way.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Do you think, do you think there's any possibility of some changes?'cause they have shown with like Coleman and stuff, they're not
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:Hmm.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:to make changes based on performance. I'm not exactly sure what they could. Do, uh, apart from what we said on Monday, which is to maybe, um, just bench one of them and put Mikey outside, but I dunno, it'd be interesting to see, um, on, on Sunday if there are any actual personnel, um, adjustments as well.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah, snap counts will be interesting. I'm gonna keep an eye on it Based on what we talked about last week and the struggles they've had, certainly, I'm actually just a, a shout out to commanders. Um, I guess their media department or stats guys or whatever, they have a thing that goes out pretty quickly the next morning of all of the. Um, snap counts and loads of different stats on the game, which is something I always look at when we do our recap pod. It's really good. So show out to that. It's worth having a look at and we can do a quick comparison. Um, let's hope we're not talking about that though. On Monday when we do our recap show, let's hope we're talking about a victory. We don't need to get too much into the issues on defense. Um, but I want to ask you both, uh, how you think the game's going to go and a prediction. Uh, I'll go first. So I think. Quick, early goal and we'll probably do them three, one at home on Sunday. Hey, joking. Uh, just a quick inside joke for the Ipswich Norwich game on Sunday, which we'll also be very interested in. Um, no on the, on the Washington game. I am predicting a loss for the first time this season, and that is only based on the unknown of Jane Daniels at the moment coming off a long break. And that combined with. Justin Herbert, in spite of what's in front of him, being one of the better quarterbacks in the league and the state of our defense. So my loss is a 30 to 20 loss on Sunday. I'm afraid, lads, I'm going to move to James for his prediction.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:I am picking us to win again. Uh, it sounds, it sounds, I'm getting a bit annoyed, but
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:on a minute. You already chalked this up as a loss in the off season. I remember we were talking
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:did I, Hey,
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:here. Yeah,
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:hey. You got her, you got her, you got her just to the, in how it's going in
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:You have to adjust. I can't. I can't predict any more losses if we are not on my one, so
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:now, now I, that are two previous losses where I did predicts to win. If, if I was being honest, you know, I didn't feel too good about those games. Right. This one I genuinely feel good about.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Nice.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:27, 20 to the Washington Commanders.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:that's, that's, I mean, okay.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:I think. I think Daniels is gonna have a day. I know we've a bit depleted,
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Gonna be like last year. Is it?
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:I think it's gonna be, I think it's gonna be a few stepping up. Big game. Big game for Deebo. I think they might unleash Croskey merit if we can get the run game going. Um, yeah, I think we'll make life hell for Justin Herbert.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:I love it. I hope you're right mate. Lee.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:I just don't really know what way to go. Uh, I always chalk this one up as a loss in my head. A few weeks ago, to be honest. And then after seeing that Atlanta to performance in the secondary, I definitely was saying, oh, we've got no chance to go in there. But hearing the noises coming out of their camp and the injuries and then listening to James's matchup matrix listening to a, for the DC guys over the week, they just, some people seem to think it's quite favorable matchup for us. And looking at the way Atlanta bounced back after the Carolina game, I dunno, can I. Can I cheat and say if Dee's good to go, we win. And if he doesn't, we lose. I don't know.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:I think, I think,
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:on the plate. He is.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:I think you can. I think you can. I think if, if they wouldn't put him on that plane, if, right.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:I dunno. I think if there's any chance he could play, they would have to put him on
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:Mm-hmm.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:I, I. I'm assuming it is
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Huh?
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:extra, extra, extra. Being careful like they did last week when they didn't have him on kickoffs and all that stuff, I'm assuming.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:That's a good point actually, I, I, I would have to advise my, wasn't out there, because I'm not sure, I'm not sure where the production's coming from.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:at all. He didn't practice at all before getting on the plane, did he? Um, so you can, you can be limited and do next to nothing, and he did not practice. So I'm concerned if
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:I.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:gonna play. Oh man, I don't know. Uh, Sunday has the potential to be one of the best sports days of the year or one of the worst as I'm going to the game, I guess I've just got a back, I've gotta go with my, my heart again. Uh, James, you've given me some confidence. Let's go Washington 27 24.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:It's an exact match. Hey, I see. Here we go. You'll look back and then look forward the symmetry at the start and the end of the podcast. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:whole buildup was a red herring. He was always go. He was always
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:He's got it written down, you know, on his piece of paper.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:queen.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Okay, so 2, 2, 2 win predictions and one loss prediction. I very much hope I'm wrong and you guys are right. Um, Deebo is, is is a good point. We didn't mention earlier on, obviously. Um, yeah, he is on the plane but haven't practiced yet. Um, I think it'll be fine. I think it's, it's genuinely just.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:we get a will we get a, I'm actually glad they've come out here as that sued them while in, on the west coast. When they came west against Arizona, we stayed, stayed out. So I'm pleased we came at least a day or two early to. To get, um, climatized with the times and stuff. Will they, will we have an injury report today
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Oh yeah. Get,
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:'cause today is technically a
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:get out there. Come on. Alive in a
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Well, I'm
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:binoculars like, um, bill Belichick.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:in your, farting around in your
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah,
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:with a ice latte or whatever you've got.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:I'm a few, I'm a few hours south. I'm
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:true.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:to the City of Angels till tomorrow morning.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:Get an Uber.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:We, we will though. Yeah. We'll get something today.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:We, we should have said as well, we should have said as well at the time of this, um, macro and no brown had been ruled out, there is a chance for Bates, right? Or was that.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Bass was full,
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:He was, yeah. So I think that that's trending,
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Bates is gonna
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:trending fine for Bates. Which would, which would be big for, for the, for, for the offensive lines output on the run game. Um. So fingers crossed for that. But yeah, you're right. No McClarin, no brown. So again, very, we don't really wanna rely on Chris Moore at any point, to be honest. Um, but yeah, so hopefully depas there.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:you wanna be relying on No Brown in the first place? I mean, like he's always
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:He's always injured. I wouldn't wanna be relying on him, but hopeful he, if he's healthy and out there, then he is a better option than more, I guess.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:It is so annoying that nine has got that. Got that guy. I didn't know his production was that good
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:We, we need, we need to Jako watch. Where's Jako Brooks Lee,
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:They obviously don't like him. Do they enough to, because he would certainly had his chance play now. So
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:that was a preseason that didn't, there you
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Who was,
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Preseason.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:of in your apartment.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:probably He was, he was.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:who was it last week that they, is it Tay Martin was the guy that they, he had one catch in the, yeah.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Yeah,
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Undrafted free agent from Washington, so Oh, okay. So he wasn't, so when we did the, it looks like we signed him in like late July, so we wouldn't have talked about him at the time of the draft'cause he was undrafted, but he was a very late pick. Um, had a catch last week. Uh, I'm assuming he'll be suing up again. Um, but as you say, the.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:what, what is everyone's weekend plans then? I know we, we have a big sports day. Are you guys going or not bothering with the, with
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Uh, one, one. No show from me. Um, dad is going to the game on Sunday. Um, but James, you are going, aren't you?
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah. And me and Josh are meeting up when I get back to London. Um, for the early games. Then we're going home separately, uh, to watch
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Separate houses.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:the Washington game.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah. We're gonna Boines actually, Lee, we are, we are, we are, we are rolling back the clock to Tower Hill Boines, and we're gonna sit at the bar hopefully with a celebratory.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:won a, we've, we've seen a Super Bowl in there back in the day,
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:We, we, yeah. We saw the Giants win the Super Bowl in there.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:There
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Uh, yes. We're going to Bodine's.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:still trying. I'm still trying to, I think I'm gonna go on airplane mode because the kickoff for the derby will be 4:00 AM
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:unless it's a very, very good night. That doesn't
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:How, how do you,
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:I.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:do you watch it back without the, is that easy to do on the app? Whatever you use to watch it back?
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Yeah, well it's on Paramount Plus, so what I could do is turn my phone off and just, I don't have my, like iMessage on my, or WhatsApp on my iPad, so I should just be out in theory. Just put it on and watch it like at like 7:00 AM and then go down to
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Let's,
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:a really good or terrible
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:email him the score. James. That'll flash off
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah. Um, I should probably put this on the radar. Now. Our next game, sorry, I don't wanna get ahead of ourselves
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:now. Go on.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:The, the bears is the Monday night, the next one. Right.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Yes.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:I'll be in China, um, bobbing around the scene near China as well. So we'll see how the wifi situation is for that one, but I, um, dunno if I'll be able to
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:I say, do they allow the NFL on the networks? Interesting.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:I think that'd be like, I dunno
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:You watch it live.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:that might be like 6:00 AM there. Yeah.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Oh, nice.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:but, well, if, if, if I have wifi, I might be able to watch that in the morning live perhaps.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Uh, so that is. So it's next. Okay, next Sun, Sunday night football, or Monday night football.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:I think it's Monday night.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Is it, uh, that's annoying.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:I'm not looking forward to that game, by the way.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:No,
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Slight early spoiler.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:yeah, I, yeah,
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:I'll reserve judgment till Sunday.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:I actually really hate them now.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Do you,
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:Um, and I, and I, and I know they'll be really like annoying if they
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:who, who is your, so that, is that your, is that your new team outside of the division? Hatred. Scenario for you, Jane. Okay. Lee, do you have one now at the moment?
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:It's a good question.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:not to, I try not to make it the
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:but that's kind of annoying because I. Got out of Philadelphia, heated as a sports fan, and now I'm heated in Chicago.'cause I feel like they've forced a rivalry a bit, haven't they? After the picks and then
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:So, but yeah, um, I, I dunno, I don't, I don't really have one outside of the divisional phase,
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:No, that's fair.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:There are a
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:I've, I've always had a problem with the Bengals,
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah. You, you have Yeah.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:there are a few teams that annoy me though.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Lions.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:who, the lions after that. God, we've got them at home
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:See, don't we? Jesus.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah. There
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:It's gonna be a
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:might be some losses on our predictions coming up.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Not, if not, if we win on Sunday, maybe then I'll be straight back into my 14 and three or whatever. 14. Yeah. Um, there's a game.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:I'm, I'm,
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Go on Lee.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:go
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:No, there's a game. There's a game in London on Sunday, which I was briefly touched on. The, the Viking Vikings are playing the Browns at Tottenham and it's a 35.5 over under, um, for anyone that is going to the game. Um, I hope it's an absolutely brilliant game, obviously. Um. But they, that's kind of what the NFL deserves after the ticketing, um, stuff that we talked about, uh, again with Dylan Gabriel, I think starting for the Browns this week, I'm sure that I read that somewhere and whoever the hell's starting for the Vikings, depending on, yeah.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah. What, what, what was, what's the,
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:ever.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:what was the overrun
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:35.5.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:And I think that's generous.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah. So not good. Um.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Will this be the first time it's not sold out in London?
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:It, it, it certainly isn't sold out. I've been getting emails left, right, and center about cheap hospitality and all sorts.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:it was struggling to sell anyway,'cause of the prices and then with the, the matchup, I don't think anyone's buying any last
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:No,
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:for that unless the prices dropped.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:no. Um.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:I feel like the NFL deserve that a little bit, to be honest. Maybe that will wake them up a bit for
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:What time is the nine 30? So it's two 30. Yeah. So 3, 4, 5. Oh, yeah. We'll be all right James. We'll, we'll, we'll have gotten, uh, into the, into Bodine before the rush from that game. Unless people do leave early.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:well, we do, we do have a
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:We do. We do. I just want those bar seats.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:I I booked about the same time as you, so I'll
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Oh, okay. Oh, I did say in bracket the bar is fine because I really like that little bit, seeing the bar there.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Anyway, um, looking forward to it. Looking forward to that, uh, on Sunday and, and a full day of sport. Hopefully as good as, uh, the Rider Cup victory last week. We'll get, uh, a Switch and Commanders on Sunday.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Yeah, I'm, I'm nervous about Sunday in general from so many standpoints, but fingers crossed that you guys will be tasting a beer or two at, at bodine's early
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Oh yeah.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:and then we have an even, even better late result. I am gonna take it easy today, actually. Um, but tomorrow. In, in LA meeting, uh, one of my mates from I used to work with say, he said he is got a babysitter already
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Oh, nice.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:So it sounds like it should be, it
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah. Yeah. Excellent. Good. I'm glad.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:This is where you find out you are the
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Yeah.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:What's your, sorry. What's your plan on Sunday Am? What time is kickoff there?
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:uh, just be 1,
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:Right, right.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:it.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yes, that's right.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:it
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:One 15.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:second window. Uh, so I plan to, if this is my overall plan, to avoid the score, be asleep, watch that about six 30 or 7:00 AM till about, you know, eight
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Mm-hmm.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:go get a coffee, head down to SoFi early. Watch some of the early games in the stadium.'cause SoFi's pretty awesome. So they have all the early games and the TVs. And then, yeah,
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Mm. Brilliant.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Fly, fly back Monday in a great mood.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:They've great me for the, for the pot.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Yeah.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Nice.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Oh yeah. I didn't know about that. You guys, you
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah, no worries. We'll, we'll, we'll be, I'm, yeah, we'll, we'll sort it out or you can, you can send a, a, a, a voice clip at the, at the, at the minimum if you wanna send a, a voice clip as you're leaving the stadium that we can clip in. That might be a good shout, actually. Um, and, and like an instant reaction.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:wherever
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah. Instant reaction. Like when people walk out, films, whatever. I like that. Cool.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:We should have a, we should have a really good following there, as we've
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Oh yeah. Yeah.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:So hopefully we can make it, make it a good environment, uh, for our guys as
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:I don't think it'll be too, it'll be too bad for us. Will it? On on, as you say. Um, we've got some old school resident fans in California, um, and yourself, Lee, I'm sure making a lot of noise on defense, but down rather than getting frustrated. Um, cool.
james_1_10-03-2025_170842:Take your fence.
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:Yeah, yeah.
ledders_1_10-03-2025_090842:Not my style
josh_1_10-03-2025_170842:No, no. Fly under the radar. Um. Cool. Alright. Um, that was great guys. Let's um, leave it there and all. Enjoy our respective weekends and hope for the best on Sunday. Lee, have a great time. I'm sure you will. Um, James, I'll see you at Bodine's 5:00 PM sharp on Sunday. Hopefully in celebrate your mood. Until then, hail
