@HailOnThreePod

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

it's just been fuck up after fuck up by idiots.

How would you describe the culture surrounding this football team? You know, the culture is actually damn good. Daniel looking, moving to his left under pressure, stays on his feet. Uh, now he falls the end zone. It is caught for a touchdown by.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Welcome to another edition of the Hail on Free podcast. My name is Josh. I am your host back in the host's chair today. Uh, this fine Friday, freezing Friday in London. Not as freezing as Lee in Chicago. Lee's not able to join us, unfortunately. Uh,'cause we did, we gave him a minute's notice, uh, of this morning, which is a bit unfair. Um, so it's just James and I. James. How are you doing mate?

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

Yeah. Good, thanks. Um, yeah, the laughter you might hear at the start was Josh going straight into the intro after he's been slagging off our weeks, but uh, Um, Lee is probably just rolling outta bed, so, uh, we'll see. He might have some. He might chuck something on the chat for us to, uh, to repeat for him. But yeah, I'm good and, uh, I'm, I'm really looking forward to this game actually this week.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Jesus on mute and trying to chat to you, then this is a good start, isn't it? Uh, yeah. I'm really looking forward to this game as well. Hopefully Lee will send us a voice clip or two or maybe something we can discuss. If he does, we'll edit it in. Um. Yeah, we're playing the four and eight Vikings. It's our last match against the NFC North. This year. We've played the Bears, Packers and Vikings. So far it hasn't gone particularly well against this division, but we are playing the lowliest team in the division. The Vikings are four and eight, um, and they've had. Let's just say a few issues this season, especially at the quarterback position. Um, relatively breaking news. I did a little Google before we started and um, it looks like JJ McCarthy has cleared concussion protocol and we'll start on Sunday.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

Yeah,

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

that's, uh, hot off the press for you guys, depending on how quickly we edit this and get this out. Um, I suppose that's a, who knows if it's a good thing or a bad thing based on what you've seen this year.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

I mean, it has to be, did you watch that guy last week they had out there?

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

I,

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

Um,

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

never heard of him and I pride myself on knowing backup callbacks.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

a bad thing for us that we don't get to play that guy. Um, not that McCarthy's been great, but. That was one of the worst performances I've ever seen. Um,

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Yeah.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

against a very good D but I don't, I think they were shut out that game as well. It was all a bit of a mess. They looked awful as did their line, but I won't give away too many spoilers, uh, for the matrix.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

got a matrix. Nice. Yeah, we've all, we've each, we've each had, uh, the hosts of this podcast. We've each had particularly interesting weeks, busy and stuff going on. So we have kind of pulled this together a bit last minute, but we wanted to keep up our a hundred percent record of preview shows. Um, so we've jumped on now at lunchtime, UK time, um. We will talk about the Vikings game. It'll be a relatively short pod. Um, but we, yeah, we won't spoil the matrix matchup. We won't even spoil my stat line commanders win stat line, which I've brought back for this one as there's a little bit more optimism. We'll go into that in a bit. But one thing I wanted to start on beforehand is, um, and I'm afraid I have not had the time or inclination yet to watch hard knocks the in-season hard knocks that you have, James, is it one episode that's been out

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

Yes, I managed to find it on YouTube. Um,

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

nice.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

not shown it on Game Pass this year, much like the, the, in the summer hard knocks, which is a bit frustrating given the, the money spent on the subscription. Um, yeah, it's an in interesting watch. Um, obviously they're daring around between the teams, so if they were suddenly onto the chance or something, they've kind of lost interest a bit. But, um, there's a fair bit of time on the Eagles. Um, I find it hard to watch Sirianni. Um, for an extended period of time without getting, uh, pissed off.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Is he exactly the same? Just throughout, like, isn't it? Yeah.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

yeah.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

sometimes you, you don't like a coach or whatever, and then you watch one of these and you go, oh, he is not as bad. Like I,

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

I think he, I think he

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

okay.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

what you see, to be honest. Um, but let, let's talk about us. Uh,

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Yep.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

interest stuff. I think looking at it, there's, there can be no concerns with culture and whether Dan Quinn has lost the drift ring or anything like that.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Okay.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

From that side of things, all look good.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

How up to date is it then? So like,

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

up to date

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

okay, fine. Right.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

from like the Broncos game.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Oh wow.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

like three days after the game had, uh, Dan Quinn's team talk after that game where he said, you know, it was quite a, quite a good line actually. He said We may have lost, oh, what was he said? may have lost as good as, well. We may have lost, but we've not.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Oh, we are not lost or something. Yeah. Yeah. We are not lost. Yeah. Yeah,

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

and I think we felt that as well. Me and Lee were talking about it, like

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

yeah.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

okay, they're, they're back. Um, just as a team

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

I want you to put the word out there

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

yeah,

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

we back up

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

we're

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

that meme has made an appearance a few times this year.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

Yeah. Every time Daniel's returns to practice, I chuck that one out there. So, yeah. That, that was the line. And, they all, everyone's still bought in from what I can see, and there's. People are still spirit's high. Um, they're celebrating. I've forgotten the coach that's got the job at, um,

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Oh, severe Pritchard. Yeah.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

they'd done a little, um, sort of for him and he gotta stand up and do a speech. And it was, it was good. It was good. Watch. Um,

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

That was a funny one on that, on that Prichard thing because when that happened there was, there was some, some idiots on Twitter going that, oh, this is just, uh, indicative of the season. Like, we are losing someone great and there's a bad cultural thing and he just want it out and stuff. And then you watch that video. And I did see that on x, that clip,

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

yeah,

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

like, no, everyone's really happy for this guy who also is a quarterbacks coach and is gonna be,

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

yeah.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

by David Blau anyway, who's also like really highly regarded and like these things happen anyway.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

Couldn't be more wrong. And um, there's a bit, uh, where McClaren was about to practice and you had Peter's ear to ear and Dan Queen in good spirits, excited that 17 was back out there and looking fast and all that sort of thing. It was quite nice to see.'cause you've, you've, when you watch all these, you think, oh God, it must be depressing going out there. But it looks like they've done a pretty good job of keeping morale pretty high considering. And um, you know, even if they are feeling pretty ggl about it. Peters and Quinn definitely aren't letting that kind of show, um, which you'd like to see leading by example. Um, but yeah, good watch. Um, there's a few Jamis clips in there as well. Um, he had sent a message to Dak congratulating on becoming the lead passing leader for the Cowboys all time. I think I missed that. Um, I didn't realize that had happened. So Fair play.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

That's, that's most yards, is it?

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

And Yes. And that can actually sing Winston's play because it's the same weekend. He sent that text where Winston Court touchdown and you saw Prescott watch that in real time and stuff.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Hmm.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

it, it was good. I will watch the next one.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Yeah. I'll give

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

for

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

that a go. That sounds pretty good actually. And it doesn't sound as, as annoying watching the other teams bits, although I guess you do tune out a bit.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

Yeah. Tune out a little bit, but. Not too bad. And um, the Eagles bit was interesting. I think kind of, they, they almost, they have to keep telling each other, like, to be not ignore the noise. And like

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Hmm.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

there's something where Sirianni sarcastically said something like, oh yeah, you know, it's because it's all going wrong when he was speaking to Barkley on the pitch and stuff. So I think that's very much on their radar actually. Um, but they're obviously trying to shut it out. But

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Hmm.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

that's, um, annoying Sirianni a bit. And he's getting obviously a lot of calls about

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Yeah.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

The offensive coordinator at the moment who had his egg house this week

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Oh yeah, I did see it.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

old, old school.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

I did see that.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

uh, criminal,

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Yeah.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

offense.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

But he said he crossed the line, didn't it? And I mean,

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

Does it?

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

yeah, I mean, fit it. Uh, pop quiz for you,'cause you mentioned it and I wanted to Google it. Who did, do you know who Dak Prescott surpassed to become the Cowboys yards passing leader?

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

I guess.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Trade one was third. There was a number two in there.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

Romo.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Yeah, so it Prescott, Romo, Aman, I would guess Aman, but it was pretty close between the three. And

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

pretty good from dad to be fair.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

he did. He has had about, by the looks of it, he's had about 200 more completions to get there

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

Right.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Romo and Aikman who were pretty much bang on the same amount of completions in the 2008 hundreds. But yeah, fair play to Dak. Just don't do it in the playoffs. That's fine by me. Cool. I'll give that a watch.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

as of speaking, they lost last night before the game, he was saying he was gonna, there's a clip, uh, pre-game. He was saying he was gonna light. Light them up. Uh,

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Was he?

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

yeah, so it is a brave, brave statement to make as you walk in on the field speaking to a reporter at Lions Field

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Mm.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

a very good team. So,

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

And it does change the picture, interestingly, in the in, because that would've been a 7, 7, 5, and one Cowboys team. One, one back from the Eagles. They're now six, six and one. Um, interesting to see how they end up in the end of the year. I haven't seen any of that game. It looked like high scorer, wasn't it? It was like 40 something.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

Uh, yeah, 38

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Give that a GO

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

Something can't

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Score Army maybe. Who knows? Um, I haven't been keeping up on Score Army. Do we follow it on our, okay, we need to follow it on X. If not,'cause obviously I don't have X anymore.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

if they're as regular as they

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Oh no,

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

I feel

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

someone's broken the algorithm.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

like the last one I had to specifically seek it out.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Oh no.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

but yeah.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

I'd like to get SCORE Army on, there's a website so you can look on the website. There you go.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

Perfect.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Um, alright. There was not, there was not a score of Army. That's happened three times before that. That Scoreline 44 fe, there you go. Anyway, enough about Dallas. We haven't got too long to talk. Um, so I won't bury the lead, which is very much that, as Lee mentioned in our chat yesterday, we are fine. We're finally getting healthy, properly healthy as a team here, here in December

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

Of all months.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

of all months. So week 14, injury report. Wide receiver, Noah Brown, full participant Wednesday and Thursday. Kinlaw, full participant Lou. Again, full participant and Jane Daniels. Limited Wednesday, but full yesterday, Thursday. Terry, healthy again and looking great. As you mentioned last week on the pod. Uh, this, this earlier this week on the pod. Sorry. So we're in a spot where we're finally healthy, um, which. Do you know what does give us a level of optimism for the rest of the season, especially how we played in the last game against Denver.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

Hmm.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

And we can look forward to a game this week where we've got a legitimate shot at seeing our kind of best team that we can put out there, almost really for the season. And Jayden back a quarterback. So are you, are you as excited as I am for a game? Also, there isn't a night in the middle of the night.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

it, it's 6:00 PM Um, there'll be no weather issues with this one either.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Mm-hmm.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

Um. I mean, we can finally maybe get a realistic feel of where this, this team can

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Mm-hmm.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

Well, we know how they can be when they're fully healthy. We know they can be a good team. But yeah, I'm looking forward to it. we're playing against the team as well that, you know, probably is in a worse state than us mentally. Um, to, to be honest, I think we've spoken about this in a few chats and I think some of us had different opinions on how they've. Well, the Vikings have handled their quarterback situation in the off season and through to this season where they're starting went. And then this, this joke of a guy they put out last week,

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Hmm.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

um, it's two way to say McAfee's. be good or not, but

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Doesn't, doesn't look good, does it?

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

with their backups there. Uh, especially this was his rookie season essentially.'cause he was injured all last season, so

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Yep.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

Yeah. But they're still a dangerous team, right? They've got Justin Jefferson, they've got Jordan Addison, TJ Hawkinson, couple of good running backs,

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Yeah.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

a good defense. so yeah, won't be easy, but I do fanciest in this one.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

I will just check the history of the betting lines.'cause it's always indicative of what, you know, Vegas thinks how close the game is and interesting to kind of see what people think about us. Uh, we were a, a one point underdog. We're now a one and a half point. Two points in someplace favorite for the game, which is the Dan. It's gotta be the Daniels effect from yesterday, which is that he's fully healthy and they're willing to get them, get him out there and play games. And after last week's performance as well, maybe to some extent they're seeing an improved team and certainly an improved defense. I mean, I know you guys talked about it. Playing the Broncos and their kind of style of offense was a good spot for Dan Quinn in his second game as DC to kind of try and build on the Miami game. Um, and he did, and they, they played pretty well, but they didn't shut them down by any means. And they marched down the field, obviously, and overtime and stuff. So let's pump the brakes a bit like Lee Lee said on that. Um. But you have a team now where you can get Right even better potentially just because of the quarterback situation, um, has been hurt and as you said, jury's very much out at this point in his rookie year when he is been in and out of the team for various reasons. So quite confident, quite excited about the game, thinking that having the wide receiver core fully healthy, Noah Brownback does get me like juiced up even, even with our record as it is. Um, and actually excited about Trayvon Burkes, obviously that catch that you talked about. I was trying to think if I've, if I've seen a better touchdown catch by a receiver in my lifetime for Washington. There've been some amazing Terry catches and stuff, but like for, for a, for a one-handed OBJ style type thing, I don't think I've seen a better one. I couldn't think of one. Anyway,

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

Yeah. And you

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

I.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

may, he may end up being a great play for us. He might not, but he was a first round pick and there's only a, surely only a handful of plays in this league that can make that sort of catch. Um. So whether he can push on from there remains to be seen. But you know, he started off well and you know,

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Yeah.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

player and it's, you know, the benefit of kind of having the season we sort of had is you can kick the ties on these guys if you wanna look for a silver lining and who knows, maybe can perform well and we can bring it back next year. So yeah, I'm also excited to see that along with all the healthy guys, uh, coming back as well. So, yeah, I was assuming that Jayden's out there. A lot to look forward to. Running game looking better with, uh, Rodriguez leading the way there with a bit of M Nichols mixed in. Um, I did see Wagner is actually not practicing. Uh, apparently that's an injury, not like a

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Oh, I thought it, I thought it was a vat day. Okay.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

vet day usually be like Wednesday, but he didn't practice yesterday, so I'm not sure what that means for the linebacker Corps. Uh. At the weekend, but something to keep an eye on, uh, there as well. Um, I do wanna quickly jump back to the Vikings. Um, actually no, I'll save that for a matrix because that will, uh, that will spoil it,

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Okay,

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

although we might be at that point anyway now, too

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

we are close. I mean No, it's fine. I've just had some, uh, messages from Lee who's, I don't know, finally woken up shivering in Chicago. Minus 19 feels like, um, he's going to send us a look back and a prediction for the game. So both of those will be edited in the look back.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

pad out the episode for

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Yeah, exactly. He did say he wanted, he, he didn't wanna miss two look backs in a row. I think he's, you know, fully, fully committed. So he is gonna send us those and we're gonna end on these prediction. Um, so we won't, we won't know, uh, what he thinks the prediction, what the game will end up like, so. Good to know. Um, I'm actually gonna clip his in now, and then James and I will crack on. We don't, we don't know what game he's gonna choose, so we can't react to it. Um, but we'll certainly check out the highlights. So, Lee, take it away with your Minnesota Vikings look back.

Hello Sports fans dialing in for my segment. I did not wanna miss two weeks in a row of Lee's. Look back after a little bit of a Thanksgiving food coma, and maybe a bit of a hangover as well last Friday. But we are back, and Washington are back on the road, as they will take on the Minnesota Vikings in the Twin Cities this weekend. So digging through the archives of finding the away game, I went back and found. Washington playing in the Metrodome mid eighties. Everyone knows I love them early to mid eighties teams. So Washington, I wasn't around, but I watched so much games and tape of these teams. So 1984. It was a Thanksgiving Thursday night game, actually, which is a PR, pretty much a rarity back in the day. But the NFL were already moving games around for TV audiences on holidays, so it's not, not that new. Uh, Washington went into the Metro Dome nine and five, had some work to do down the stretch to secure their third NFC East title in a row. Minnesota are a pretty bad football team this year. They just had free wins on the board. They were free and 11. Washington Real estate of intent off the bat, Joe Fiman first play from scrimmage for the Washington offense. He drops back and delivers a Moneyball to Kelvin Mohamed who gets behind the secondary 68 yard touchdown. Off the bat, Washington on the board, seven to zero. And then Clint Didier Didier, country four yard touchdown from Joe Fesman. And back on the look back, people will remember a game that I talked about when we were playing the Chargers in October and had Jeff Hayes for that amazing fourth down fake punt when he ran the length for the field to set up a Riggins touchdown. Wow. In this game, he does similar on a fourth down, a fake punt. This one surely designed. He runs for a comfortable, first down, he was at real speed to Jeff Hayes. Jeff Hayes back on the lookback, Play Lead seven to nothing. Wiseman de ka Muhammad. There he goes. He'll do this. He's done it in past games that we've watched. Jeff Hayes has the first down in the 45 yard line, and it was about a year ago, we watched him do the exact same thing to the San Diego Chargers when he went 48 yards Ka. uh, wash It are really pouring it on in Sota and. Quite a topical, uh, touchdown here because Joe Jacoby actually recovers a fumble in the end zone. We were without Riggins, the running back fumbled, but Jacoby falls on it for his first ever Redskins touchdown. The lineman in the end zone. That puts Washington 24 to nothing up on the Vikings and why I said it was worth noting a Jacobi touchdown. Well, this week again, he gets to the semi-final of the Hall of Fame voting, but does not make the the free finalist so. Jo Jacob. Three Super Bowl rings on the 1980s all decade. Team, probably a part of the most famous, uh, offensive line in the history of the league, but still snubbed for the Hall of Fame. Hopefully one day Jake will be in there. Kins are moving. Once again, Keith Grip right side take open foot running by grip above the football, and this is what they've been concerned about and bounces into the end zone. Joe Jacoby, the big offensive tackle cup. It'll be a touchdown. A Viking did have a chance just before it got in there, but it will be a Washington Redkin Touchdown and dig. Joe Jacoby, that's gotta be his first. It is. Look at that. When I say he covered the ball, it disappeared on this sixth. 3 5 24 topping. We have 10 46 remaining in the first half and the bull they haven't often heard here in Minnesota washington, actually make it 31 0 a Darrell Grant. Remember him from the NFC Championship game the year before, a 22 yard defensive touchdown fumble return. So the Vikings are all over the shop. They actually bench their starting quarterback and Archie Manning comes in. The Archie Manning, I mean, he's been around. Must have been getting late in his career at this point, he does put some points on the board to make it a little bit more respectable. But Washington walk out of Minneapolis with a 31 to 17 win. They go on to win the NFC East for a third straight year and fall in the playoffs, first ever playoffs. Defeat at home to Chicago in 1984. But yeah, let's hope for Aurora the same on Sunday.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Thanks Lee. Good choice, wasn't it, James?

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

Yes. Excellently

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Well, uh, I'm glad he's managed to do that. Um, we dunno what the game was, but we will, uh, yeah, as I say, we'll enjoy kind of looking back at that ourselves. Um, you mentioned your matrix change. We might as well crack on with it now. So cue the music. What's the key to this game from Washington's perspective?

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

music. Yeah. For me, um, from like, I ended up watching a lot of the Vikings game last week'cause it was one of the later games. Um, their offensive line looked horrific and, um, Christian Risor didn't play and been in and outta the team. Um, it's unclear whether he's gonna play. He's their standout left tackle. I was reading as well from the Vikings beat report, if even if he is active, how much you're gonna see him and how long he can last is very much up in the air. So, and I think Ryan Kelly was another one. Um, so yeah, they've got some problems on the offensive line. So where I'm going. Um, how, if we, can we pressure JJ McCarthy because as we mentioned, he has weapons to throw to who can. us all sorts of problems in that secondary right. as I said with Jefferson, Addison and Hawkinson. So it needs to be as uncomfortable for him as possible.'cause if he's getting time in the pocket and playing free and you know, they'll have guys getting open. Let's face it. That could be a problem for us. And, Kevin O'Connell spoke this week about wanting him to see McCarthy play more free and not thinking about it so much. So not letting him get in a rhythm early and, you know, getting a bit of pressure on him with this banged up offensive line, um, I think is a really big matchup to watch. And I think, um, based on how that goes, could decide how this game goes. For me personally. Um, yeah,

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Great shout.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

on their injury, final injury port, uh, today, their offensive line. But, um, yeah, we don't want him to start fitting himself and get in time and

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

No.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

the ball out to Jefferson easily for some quick wins.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

That's the thing I would like to get after him early, early, and often, and don't let him get into a rhythm. Reminds me of Kirk Cousins. The way sometimes Kirk used to get into a rhythm with a few easy completions and start to look good and start to throw a bit more down the field. We, we just don't want that from this rookie or, or basically rookie.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

do also have the most turnovers in the league,

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Okay.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

and we struggled for turnovers, so something's gotta give there and hopefully it's in our favor as well.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

You mentioned Dsor, just to mention, oh, I really wanted us to draft Dsor in 2021. That was the year that we took Jamon Davis, I think about six or so picks ahead of him.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

Yeah.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Um, and there there was, there was a few players there at line, uh, on the line that we could have taken and at cornerback that have turned out to be pretty good. That was annoying at the time. Um, yeah, a great, a great shout. I think Kinlaw back would be good for that, right? For like to, to sort of crash the air, uh, crash the middle,

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

Is he, is he looking good for this week?

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

he full, full participant yesterday. So I'm assuming that that's a, a good sign or is a good sign. Let's see if it kind of transpires on Sunday. But a good shout. Um. I will go straight into my, have not done it for a while actually, but my stat line, Washington wins if stat line, and this is gonna get,

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

this.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

is gonna be a, this is, this is, this is as basic as it gets James, I think. And, um, and Def definitely talks to my prediction, which you're gonna enjoy, I think. Um, so my stat line for this game, Washington wins the game if Jaden Daniels plays a hundred percent of offensive snaps. Um. If he comes out for a snap or something or we're, we are winning by so many points that he comes out, then that doesn't count, obviously. But if he's healthy and he plays this game healthy and he plays the whole game, we win this game. And that's how confident I am in this team when it's healthy against the team like Minnesota, who I think probably match up quite well for us actually because of their offensive struggles. So I think if, if Jayden's out there the whole time and he's feeling it, um, then we'll be good enough, especially with the wide receiver call back, Noah Brown, Terry McClure, Debo Samuel and Trayvon Burkes out there with Zach Kurtz as well, who again was. Heavily involved against Denver. So I think, yeah, he's, if he's there and he is out and he's, and he's, he doesn't even have to be hero potentially to win this game. I think if he just plays the snaps and he is, he's confident, then we'll win and we'll beat a team that I think we're probably better at, better than when we have that X factor. So keeping it simple, but fingers crossed.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

Yeah. Makes sense.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Yeah. Easy one.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

yeah.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

We can track that one. That's an easy one to track rather than some of my.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

to track. We don't have to dig too deep in

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

No.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

I think at some point we'll have to do an episode where we kind of look into some of these things. Maybe we tie that in some, an episode where we look into our preseason predictions as well as we head into

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Yeah.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

and things like that.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

A few things to, to cover. Like we, we wanna do an episode at around the league style episode before the playoffs about what we think about the other teams and the playoffs, and maybe go a little bit wider on. The league itself and, um, as we are not gonna be in that race, talk about the playoffs as we go through the, the off season, um, the post-season. Sorry, we might turn into a bit of a broader podcast, I guess, because we won't have games to preview ourselves, uh, for Washington. So we might, we might do a bit of that and get some more listeners, hopefully from across the, the league. Um, but agree that we should look back at our predictions, um, some of which. Are not particularly great looking at the spreadsheet and the predictions about the team itself. Um, actually an interesting one, when I tried to get Laura to come on the podcast before the season, she said that we would finish, uh, six and 11.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

Oh,

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

And

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

onto

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

pretty clo. Yeah, she said that it's just one of those times where things go back to the regression to the mean, like back to the average. And I was like, oh, shut up. Glad she didn't get on.'cause then she could have lorded it over me because that seems

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

on.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Yeah. Also her, uh, wild predictions that Tom Brady would come outta retirement and play, which has not happened. I don't think he can do that now. He is a, an owner. So anyway, moving on from that, uh, I see Lee sent me some clips of a game against Minnesota. That. We'll, we will, he's already talked about on this pod, but we'll enjoy. Um, and we are gonna finish on his prediction, but let's do ours now'cause we are running out of time on this brief podcast. Um, I'll let you go first, James, and then I'll blow your mind with my prediction.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

Excellent. Uh, yeah, I'm going for a win. surprise there. Based on how he spoke so far, I am going 24 to 17 to the commanders.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Hmm.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

yeah, I just think we're gonna get going. I think, uh, Terry's gonna have another big game. Um. I think we're gonna see a good run game. I think Trade on Burke's gonna have another touchdown.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Yeah.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

What other prediction can I give you there? Two plus turnovers

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Yep.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

for commanders. So, um, 24 17. It'd be a tight game, but I think we'll pull away.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Nice seven points. Confident. I think we're gonna get free across the board this week. We're feeling ourselves a bit after a performance against Denver and, and Jaden being back. Um, you know, preseason, when I predicted we would go 15 and two and it was maybe a little bit too optimistic even if we were healthy. Uh, I'm gonna go ridiculously optimistic again for this game. I think we're gonna win this game 30 to six.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

Fuck. Yeah.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Was a, there was, there was a point, there was a point when I wanted to, to predict a shutout. Um, but either way, I think it's based on the fact that we will, we will hold the ball, keep the ball, and score with this offense back healthy. And JJ McCarthy isn't very good and I think he might even be on the cusp of. Unplayable to the point where he might get injured or come out of the game just through performance and they will completely stutter as an offense. So I've got that shout where we'll score a lot of points and they'll

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

saying we could see Max Broma.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

could see Max Broner in the game, either through injury or through bad, bad performance and a stuttering Vikings offense. And I think we will see a humming Washington offense, so 30 to six, which will be our biggest margin of victory for quite some time. Um, also. I'm just desperate to see it, so I'm really wish casting this one. But I think there's a chance that we do see some sort of performance like that and people start to go, oh, you know what? This was a lost season, but they've still got something.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

Yeah. In the realms of possibility. Um, yeah, I mean, they didn't score any points last week. Right? Obviously he gets a very good DI know Lee will like that prediction. Uh, I know you've thrown out a few there this season like that. So one of them is gonna stick soon. So hopefully this week is, is the week for

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

When it, when it really matters.

james_1_12-05-2025_133532

to really cash in, um, on the first weekend of December.

josh_1_12-05-2025_133532

Exactly. Alright, two wins from James and me. Uh, we're keeping this relatively short. Um, we're gonna hand it over to Lee now. A bit of prints in the background for him. Minnesota Sun. Uh, so take it away, Lee, of your prediction. Hopefully three and oh. Uh, we'll be back after the game for a recap. Until then, Hale.

Prediction time. I had us losing to Denver in a close one. It played out that way, but we'd done enough to win the game. We were superb on Sunday like football. Considering the opponent off the back of that, did we empty the tank a little too much? I dunno. I think there's a bit more optimism around this team this week. Seems like the vibes are, are pretty positive. Is Jade and Daniels gonna play? It sounds like he might be trending to do so. So with all that in mind, I've gotta predict us to win. We finally snap this losing streak. I think the odds makers have it right there. I think it's gonna be very, very tight one way or another. So let's go with a 24, 21 win for Washington. They get the victory on the road and everyone's feeling a little bit better about things. Hail.
