Finding Joy at the Innersense™ Miraval Founders Summit Retreat
Joanne gathered the Innersense™ Stylist Community for a retreat at Miraval—an experience rooted in connection and community—as a way to give back to the people who give so much to the brand and to the world every single day.
The first conversation features Joanne’s daughter, Morgan Jane Starkman, who helped behind the scenes during the Founders Summit. Morgan shares what it was like supporting the event, enjoying some of Miraval’s wellness experiences, and spending time with the Innersense™ team. She also reflects on her love of travel, remembering her 30th birthday in Australia and sharing that Scotland is next on her bucket list.
Building a Life Anywhere
Next, Joanne sits down with Steven Jensen, founder of Vancouver’s first fume-free organic curl salon and an educator in the Innersense™ community. Steven reflects on leaving home to build a career in the Cayman Islands before starting a new chapter in Vancouver with his partner. Along the way, he proved to himself that he could create a meaningful life wherever he chose while building community and celebrating natural texture.
From Sobriety to International Education
The episode closes with curl specialist Jodi Heafner of Razzberry’s Curls Hair Salon in North Carolina. Jodi shares that she is now 14 years sober and how sobriety helped her embrace both her curls and her purpose behind the chair. After manifesting a goal last year to teach internationally, she is now preparing to travel abroad to educate stylists. Next on her vision board: coaching and mentoring the next generation of hairstylists.
