Now, what I don't like is all the fluff and the fakery. And this starts with like the fake accent. So we all know it.
We've all listened to meditations where they set off talking like this. Well, that's me straight away. I'm like, listen, it's not for me, love.
Thank you. I feel more on edge and more frustrated than what I did when I first started trying to meditate to help my mind calm itself. It's absolutely not for me.
Welcome to Guide to Spirituality's podcast with me, Stacey Bower. It's a down-to-earth space where we talk all things spiritual. Each episode, I'm joined by guests from all walks of life to share real experiences, practical tools, and honest conversations about healing, growth, and the unseen spiritual world.
Whether you're just starting out or you're deep on your journey, this podcast is here to support your path with insight, connection, and that little bit of magic. Welcome to today's episode. Today, I want to talk about what spirit work actually feels like when you take out all the fear, the ego, and all that fluffy stuff.
Not the stuff you see on social media with flashing lights and dramatic voices. I want the real, raw, healing kind of connection that spirit brings into our lives. If you're someone who's ever thought I'm not gifted enough or I'm scared of what I might open up to, this episode's for you.
So let's get down to it. Spirit work doesn't always feel like fireworks or angel choirs or butterflies or falling feathers or all the la-di-da stuff that is made out. Sometimes it's as quiet as a deep breath.
Sometimes it's a random thought that pops in just when you need it. Sometimes it's your nan in spirit sending you a song just at that right time, just at the time you need it. And that's the idea.
The idea that this has to be like a big dramatic, scary, or full of rituals and robes. It's not it. This isn't real spiritual work.
This should feel more like it's home. It should feel like love that doesn't need to shout. So the fearful stuff, I get it.
I have it as well. I've had it before. I understand where it comes from.
The thing that gets me is that we all have the fear of like opening the wrong door. What's gonna happen? Fear of spirit being really scary or too much, or, you know, because that's what we've been told. That's what we see in the films.
That's what we see from the scary stories from when we were a kid. That's what we were given as the truth because of other people's beliefs. But when you're properly grounded and when you work with intention and truth, that fear falls away.
Spirit won't bulldoze you and won't take over your boundaries as long as you put them in place. Spirit will respect what you want to do. Remember, you are in control.
You're never wide open for everything to come and get you. And if it doesn't feel like a loving, healing, or helpful energy, it's not spirit. It's either your fear or something that needs clearing.
And that's where energy work comes in.
The over-complicated of rituals as well, that annoys me. You have to have a feather from an albatross and you have to have this from the deep sea and you've to have an urchin's tooth.
And I mean, what is it all about? Stop it off. This is totally not needed. And the fact when people try and come across as they are more spiritual than you, we don't have those vibes here.
That is not for me. I don't like it. We're not into false fakery.
So spirit work is like ordinary magic. It's cups of tea and signs from spirit in every day. It's connecting with your guides while washing up, doing the laundry.
It's that laundry, where am I? You know, doing your washing, that sort of thing. It's learning to trust your inner self, your inner voice. It's not always like, well, I have to ask my pendulum.
Yeah, use it as confirmation. Absolutely fine. But that is not what it's for.
It's not for you to trust in. And that's all that there is. Like cards, that sort of thing.
The greatest tools, but they're not your, they're not you, they're not the inner voice. Always listen to the inner you. Hi, I'm just taking a quick break to thank you all so much for listening to the podcast and for all your lovely support.

And I'm truly grateful. You know, you don't need to be high vibe 24 seven. You don't need white robes and perfect crystal and fire.
You might actually need perfect crystals. I do have a crystal business, so I might be doing myself out of a service there, but we don't need all these things. These things are nice to have.
I do like to use crystals in my, when I'm working with spirit, but I like that. They help me heighten my vibration on one thing or another, but they're not essential. They're not needed.
If you don't have them, you can quite easily connect with spirit. You just need honesty, intention, and an open heart. We don't need all the carryings on.
So working with spirit, how it really feels. So in my experience, if you are grounded, I feel like working with spirit is my grounding place. So like you rooted in who you are, it's like coming back to yourself.
I find it very uplifting. It's like somebody has your back all the time. When you're doubting yourself, it's like you can just ask spirit and they'll just step in just for that a little amount of time and just help you out, just give you that clarity and that support that you need.
And sometimes, you know, tears can come from nowhere. Tears come from absolutely nowhere. I must admit there were a time where I'd rather cut my face off than let anybody see me cry.
But actually, the more you work with spirit, the more you realize that actually, when you're trusting it, they bring up at the time what needs healing there and then. So sometimes when the tears come out of nowhere, let them, let them be. If you have to go to a private place because you don't want others to see you, absolutely fine, but do let those tears out because that there is healing, okay? Now, I also find working with spirit very peaceful.
I feel like it's a quiet knowing that you're not alone, you're not on your own. You, like I say, always have this support system, but I also find it very empowering, really empowering. It's like you start trusting your gut more.
You're making your decisions from truth, not from fear. It's from the inner you. Now, it's not always easy, but I feel it is always worth it.
So if ever you felt unsure or even scared to dive into spirit work, I get you, I see that, I understand. But I promise you, when you take it slow and grounded and real, it can become one of the most healing parts of your life. This is the work that helped me go from my self-limiting beliefs that when you came from a counsellor state, you could never go beyond that.
You should never dream big. I was always taught that if you dreamt big, then you were going above your station. And who did you think you were to want something else? Now, don't get me wrong.
I have no upset or regrets about growing up on a counsellor state. To be fair, some of those years were the best years of my life. And I genuinely believe that growing up on a counsellor state teaches you some real life lessons.
It teaches you some core lessons. But do you know what? Sometimes we don't have loads and loads of money, but actually what we've got is everything that we need. We don't need more.
But I always aspired to want different things. And I was brought up believing that if you worked hard and you got a nice car, you thought you were better than people. And I never did.
I never, ever feel like I'm better than anybody else. But actually, this returning back to my spirit side has really helped me push forward in self-limiting beliefs and knowing exactly who I am or getting to know exactly who I am. I don't feel like we can ever go, well, I'm completely know exactly who I am because we're always evolving.
We're always learning. We're always moving on. Now, I've got a little bit of a mission going on and it's helping others heal.
But I want to help others heal without the fear, without the worry of, oh, should I be doing that? Is that okay? I want to debunk a lot of fear-based beliefs, outdated beliefs. I want to bring a little bit of a modern touch to spirituality, to working with spirit. Not because I'm special, but because I finally stopped listening to all the noise around me and I started listening to spirit.
And if I can do it, then anybody can do it. And if this podcast resonates with you, please let me know. And if you feel like, you know, this could help anybody else who you know, then please do pass it on.
