Thank you, lastrep. As always, I am sipping on one right now.
SPEAKER_00Give it a try. It's delicious.
SPEAKER_02Delicious. And a delicious green to go with the delicious lime flavor of Last Rep. We have our first winner here. Um this is Jason. Um Jason P, not our very own Jay Ash, but this is Jason P. A little five dollar um paid out 90 bucks. He had Michigan State minus five and a half, Duke minus 12.5, Houston minus 10.5, and Illinois minus 11 and a half. Really didn't have to sweat much out here. Um if you were paying attention over the weekend, the favorites kind of won the weekend um for the most part. Um so if you were if you were tailing the um the favorites, you probably had a a pretty pretty good weekend um here uh for the first weekend of March Madness. So good good job there, Jason uh P for the first W of the week.
SPEAKER_04Except for yeah, except for one major exception that we'll get to in a little bit. So yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um tough one here. This one was actually one of mine. Um little five-leg parlay with UCS plus UCF, which backdoored um the five and a half there. Um somehow found a way to cover. Um Purdue, minus 25.5, comes in. Um the over infirm in Yukon comes in. Uh, Miami gets the job done against Mizoo, minus one and a half. Um, Kansas is up like 25 at half. You think they're just gonna bulldoze the team they're playing, a no-namer. Um, and they decided to just stop playing in the second half and don't cover the 13 and a half uh and just really screw me and win by, I think, eight or nine. Um so they just decided to just pack it up uh like Kansas has done this season. It's just you know, they they fit after their their star player, they just packed it up early, um, which is a tough one for me uh as a gambler. That would have been a nice little 20 20 to 1 um hit. Just doesn't come in because of the second half from Kansas. But we move on, we proceed.
SPEAKER_04Hey, real quick, you had that Yukon over. Um that that fit like a certain criteria that are two other games uh did how did those other games do? Did you did you happen to notice that they hit as well?
SPEAKER_02Two out of three hit. Um because I put it in a parlay, two out of three hit. Um, so if you're paying attention to those, that's something to look forward for next year. Um clearly that's if you individually bet them, you would have won money. Um this one um here, this one was one of mine as well. I did come out on the positive end on this one. Uh Kentucky minus two and a half, Texas Tech minus seven and a half, um Alabama, or excuse me, I think this is Arizona first half spread, Iowa State uh minus 24 and a half, and St. John's minus nine and a half came in, just a two-dollar winner, um, or 55 plus dollar winner, so good one there um for me. So got in the win column. Um we had Rain Man here. Rain Man had Vandy minus six and a half, got the job done, got the W. This was the first round. Um Vandy getting the job done. Um in I believe this was a Thursday game. Um, so good job there, Rain Man getting on the board, getting a W. Um unfortunately on the flip side of that, he had Hofstra to beat Alabama. Um that most certainly did not happen. Um, Alabama is still playing this weekend in Sweet 16, big matchup. Um, he also had Tennessee's over 80 and a half. Would have been sour if Hofstra would have come in because I think Tennessee ended with 78 or 79. Um, so it would have probably hurt him a lot to not see that one come in. Um, but all the less it's two losers, unfortunately, for Rainman. Then we go to one buck ant, and like always, one buck ant's kind of throwing everything at it. He got a UFC and college basketball parlay, Michigan State minus five, um Evliov. Um, I'm I'm not sure how you pronounce that first one. Um, and Page, all money line on the UFC, and then you have Michigan State minus five winner, $75 bet, paid out over $230. So a nice winner for uh One Buck Ant there with uh a mixed sport parlay. Um and again, like always, we don't just talk sports. Um traditionally, we got some racing. Um, one Buck Ant uh seems to be on the little heater here. Um, I think back-to-back weeks we've gotten a big payout um horse race. So $50 um winner, the five horse comes in for shoot $400, a little close to $500 win um for one buck ant there. So great job paying attention to the ponies this weekend while all the hoops are going on. He's got hoops, he's got ponies, he's got fights. What can't one buck ant do outside of predict Indiana's rise?
SPEAKER_01Big big birthday for one buck ant yesterday. Oh, look at that.
SPEAKER_02By the way, look at that. Love to hear it. And then our last two, we have we of course um the first game of the weekend. Um, we had Jay Ash here getting off the gates uh with a fun one. Race to 10. Seen a lot of people put um bets out there this weekend with the race to 10 points, the first to 10. Um TCU got it done for Jay. So that was a fun bet. Um some of them are uh a big sweat. I think this one was a little close, um, if I remember correctly, Jay, in the first game of the weekend.
SPEAKER_00So 10-8.
SPEAKER_02Good to get just the first one under your belt. You gotta see the ball go through the hoop. Gotta see the ball go through the hoop.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, gotta exhale.
SPEAKER_02Yep. So getting on the board with a nice winner there. Um, and then you had VCU plus three um on, I believe, Friday, and they won outright. Um this is the game of the weekend, maybe of collapses and costs the guy a job, um, essentially. Um Hubert Davis with UNC blew a 20-point lead, um, and VCU comes back and wins a game in overtime. Um, so that probably looked dead for a long time for you, and then the second half just completely flipped in your direction um and then going into overtime as well. So awesome. Probably weren't looking at it great at one point, but awesome win there for for Jay Ash.
SPEAKER_04I think I saw I I think the uh not the not the correct you, but I think it was actually 19 points. But the only reason I mentioned that is I think uh I saw today that uh and it's kind of surprised me, but it was the biggest blown lead in tournament history. Um I I I assume that means like biggest second half lead, but uh yeah, that's pretty crazy. So yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, literally cost him his job.
SPEAKER_04It did, but he's he's still getting his five million dollars, so he'll be okay.
SPEAKER_02Best job in the world is a fired college coach.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But that's all talking tickets again. Thanks for last rep use code chaos at trylastrep.com. Um let's get into what's going on moving forward this week.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so by the way, Yash, uh, I don't know if you saw this, but so North Carolina, speaking of North Carolina, they're obviously uh they put a list together of, you know, that I guess for the first time they're gonna try to hire somebody outside of the North Carolina family. Um and one of the yeah, one of the first people they reached out to was Brad Stevens, and he immediately you know put out a statement saying I'm not going anywhere. So I was always happy to see that. Yeah, but anyway.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you might have a good thing going. I saw Billy not Billy Donovan's name floated around now.
SPEAKER_02He's the best odds. I think he's the best odds.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but I mean the bulls be like, hey Billy, we'll just throw you an extra two million, stay here and go 41 and 41 for us. Can you do that?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_04You know, the other the other thing is he's not really, I mean, he's I think he's 61. He's I mean, he's not a young guy anymore, so I don't I don't know if they would want to hire somebody that you know that old, but who knows? Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So well, look at the reality is I do you have a suggestion? I don't even have a suggestion anymore. I don't know what it would take. You know, do you do you need somebody who can manage NIL money? Do you need somebody who can manage personalities? The recruiting seems like it doesn't matter anymore. Like the Tar Heel logo should be enough recruiting, and then how much are you paying me is what comes next. I don't think the kids care anymore.
SPEAKER_04So yeah. Um, no, that's absolutely true. The money, the money definitely is part of it. I mean, I think for certain schools, then you know the name and the logo still matter, but you're right. I mean, you could I mean, even in football, look at Indiana, you could pretty much win anywhere right now, you know. So um, you got to have the right coach. I mean, that that's the thing, is you gotta keep once you've got the right coach, you gotta keep the coach. You know what I mean? That's that's the hardest part. So but anyway. All right, so we're talking hoops. What what what do you got? Well, let's start with you, Ash, because you were actually at the game that uh Florida lost on Sunday. So uh what what are your thoughts there with Iowa upsetting Florida?
SPEAKER_00I will start with the controversy. It was a punch. I don't care that he hit the ball. I was right underneath the hoop. I was five rows back. I saw the kid violently throw a punch after getting hip tossed to the ground. It was it it seemed like a melee was going to ensue. Um they broke it up. Oh, Bert Kreischer making a look at this. Look at this. Um and you know, obviously they don't show replays in the arena, so we had to pull up the phone. And you know, I talked to a lot of people afterwards. Well, it looked like it wasn't a punch. He was hitting it. No, no, he threw a punch, he just missed. Um, so did that swing the game? No, but it definitely swung the emotion. Um the the basketball take. If you're a gator fan, you had the size, you should have been able to bully them all over the court, and they didn't come with their A game. I think they took it lightly. Um, I think they didn't recognize that I was gonna play hard the whole game. And once they gave up the lead, uh they had to really scrap their way back. Um to let that kid get open to hit a three, that happens, but it just completely unacceptable to have that much time on the clock, run a play, have your point guard go all the way down to the block, and then essentially, you know, either forget he was supposed to pass the ball, shoot the ball, and have the ball go out of bounds, game over. Um, if you're a gator fan, it had to be real painful to watch. Um, so it was it was great to be in the building because it was obviously a heavy, heavy, heavy Florida crowd in Tampa. Um, so you didn't have that, oh, the underdog's about to win. Um, you you just had groans. Um, and as a guy who's not a gator fan and sitting with um three other people that were not gator fans, it was kind of fun. So um Jeff Jeff will be the only one that gets this reference, or anybody who's from Naugatuck. Um we we had a coach back in the day that used to say the pull-up 10-foot bank shot off the glass while going for a layup was the best shot in basketball. And I assure you, if if Lee pulled that shot up, it would have gone in. Um they just don't teach that anymore. So uh it it was it was funny because it was the first thing I thought of, Jeff. I was like, Joey D, Jesus fellas, just hit the little it's a little bank shot.
SPEAKER_04Where have you gone, Joey D? Right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So it was a great game to be at, and we we bailed at halftime on the Bama game because it was ugly start to finish. So yeah.
SPEAKER_01I saw that the uh the Florida coach came out after and talked about they they they were thinking about fouling or they were supposed to foul on that final play. Yep. And get force them to the line, but uh obviously they didn't do that. So kind of cost them the game.
SPEAKER_02I don't agree with that move either.
SPEAKER_04Well, you you're not gonna agree with this either, because I I I again I don't want to sidetrack the whole conversation, but did you see now being analytics are such a big part of uh college basketball nowadays that um teams are starting to at least think about fouling when up two with like you know, whatever, 15-20 seconds left. And the thought pro the thought process is even if the if they make both free throws, then you have the ball with a chance to win the game. Worst case scenario is you're gonna go to overtime. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. So I don't know. I guess we'll see it eventually. Somebody will do it.
SPEAKER_01But that's what he was talking about. That's what he that's what the Florida coach was talking about.
SPEAKER_04Oh, Golden, yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah. That's right. That's who it was. You're right. Correct. Yeah. Sorry about that. Um, all right. So uh I mean I'll I'll I'll hit on the whole UConn part of it. Um, you know, the first game against Furman was uh a little scary. Um their offense has been struggling, uh specifically struggling from from from three. They haven't been hitting shots over the past couple of weeks, and that continued in that game. But again, it was Furman and uh Terrace Reid Jr. had you know one of the best games in tournament history, so he basically saved their bacon. Um uh the next game against uh UCLA was a little bit more uh like what we expect from UConn. So um here's the uh uh you know previous results don't guarantee uh future results category of the of the day. Um UConn has won the first two games of the tournament by double digits uh uh uh eight times now, you know, with these two games. The previous seven times they at least went to the final four, and six of those times they won the championship. So um who knows if it means anything, but nice little tidbit there for you. Um what do you guys, Baba? What are your thoughts about the first weekend, Tyler? What do you what are your thoughts?
SPEAKER_01Go ahead, Tyler.
SPEAKER_02Um the the big dogs outside of Florida pretty much showed up um and did what they need to do. I think you're I think we have a very good chance of having almost every game that we have left be a very, very good basketball game. Um while the Cinderella stories are fun, um sometimes when you get to the big moment of the playing the bigger team, sometimes there can be a squash. Um uh so I'm excited for um you know what we got we got St. John's Duke. Um St. John's playing good, Duke getting very, very, very scared in that first game. Um I can't believe they were down as much as they were and like getting beat. It wasn't like a flute, like they were just getting beat, like bad. Um obviously come back and win the game. St. John's playing well, that whole bracket's just four good teams. Um again, I think they kind of got screwed. I think all those teams could say they got screwed having to play with the other guys. Um but um Michigan haven't been taste tested very much. They got Alabama. I'm excited about that game because if Alabama, I mean they don't play defense, but if they can shoot, you you got a shooter's chance to win a game. Um so that'll be a fun one. So there's uh I'm I'm excited everyone's held serve for lack of a better term. Um I'm very excited about some very good matchups this weekend. Um, but everyone did their jobs pretty much.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean you guys called it, you guys called it before the tournament started. You said it was gonna be all chalk, and it was pretty much all chalk. I mean, the favorites I mean, Texas is the the only double-digit seed in the Sweet 16, I think.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. So yeah, and they're and they're not and they're not really an underdog. I mean, they you know, they are an underdog because they weren't very good this year, but they're not an underdog by the traditional sense.
SPEAKER_01From a program status, yeah, absolutely. Yeah. I just think it's it's crazy too. And I I saw this headline um before we hopped on. It's it's the Big Ten dominance, right? There's so many Big Ten teams in the in the Sweet 16, but ultimately you'll we'll find out soon that I don't think a Big Ten team is gonna win it. Win the whole thing? Win the win the whole thing, yeah. Yeah, yeah. They've got a lot of representation in the Sweet 16, but I don't think they're gonna get to I don't think they're gonna be holding up the trophy at the end of the well.
SPEAKER_00Speaking of that, I think it'll be more Big 12 teams in the final four than there will be Big Ten.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so I I mean it's a good segue by you guys. So let's talk about uh um by the way, the ACC had the ACC had eight teams in the tournament and there's only one left. That's a that's a bad weekend they had last last week.
SPEAKER_00Jeff, before you jump and I'll make it real quick. Um the c the combination, if you were watching in uh either a multi-view or flipping back and forth, but um I believe it was what Friday night was the uh high point or Saturday night was the high point Arkansas game and the uh Nebraska um game. Those two games were what the tournament's all about. Um just just throwing haymakers, the high point game. You got two guards just going head to head, both scoring over 30 points, the team making just ridiculous shots, big defensive stops, and then you know, Hoyberg with the heroics for Nebraska, keeping them in the game. It was it was just fun to watch, and it was what bet you know tournament basketball is all about. So oh for sure.
SPEAKER_01Jay, what was the game what was the game we were we were both kind of commenting on with the point guard that was just balling out? Was that Vanderbilt?
SPEAKER_00Vanderbilt game, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, dude, that game was crazy too.
SPEAKER_00It's up there with the top three buzzer beaters that didn't happen. I know, yeah. It was incredible. It left his hand, he he knew it was in, the whole arena knew it was in, all of Nebraska knew it was in. That's one of the best camera angles, is every kid running down, seeing the ball, and her face is just like, oh my god, oh my god, did they go in?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, right, yeah, that's the exactly right. Yeah, but that was even a great game to watch too, and that was going on at the around the same time.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was great.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely great. So go ahead, Jeff.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, okay. So I'm just gonna I'll give you a little I'm gonna run through all uh eight games um coming up on Thursday, Friday, and I'll just give you um uh a few tidbits on each game, and then you guys can fire away. So let's start with uh tomorrow, um, Texas versus Purdue. Um you know, Texas, they lost five of six coming into the tournament. So the fact that they won a couple of games is a little bit surprising. Um uh if you look at the the Ken Pomeroy rankings, they're Ken Pom for short, um they're 31st, which which isn't good at this time of the year. Um 15th on offense, 81st on defense, so that's that's a little rough. Uh Purdue, um, they struggled a bit um middle of the year, but they they bounced back nicely at the end of the year, and uh they're eighth in K uh Kent Pom, they're first in offense, so uh they currently have the first ranked offense in Ken Pom, but they're thirty third 33rd in D. So I don't know, man. Purdue with the first offense and Texas with the 81st ranked defense. Uh that seems like a uh a problem.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, what's the this is the spread six and a half or seven? Uh it's right, it's right around there.
SPEAKER_02Seeing seven and a half right now, but yeah.
SPEAKER_01Does the Celeranda does the Cinderella story continue for Texas? I don't know. It's March. I think I might take Texas there with the points.
SPEAKER_04You think? Yeah, I I don't know. I think Purdue might might might uh race them. I have a feeling they're gonna crush them.
SPEAKER_00Too much size in Purdue.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah. They love those big guys at Purdue.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I had Purdue advancing. I didn't have them playing Texas, obviously. I'll keep I'll keep my stance on Purdue advancing. And I might not I might not lay the points, but I would definitely take them in a moneyline parlay for sure.
SPEAKER_02Same here. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04All right. So let's move on to Arkansas versus Arizona. I mean, this could be a fun one. Um obviously ACOF is is having uh a tournament that a lot of us predicted he would have. So let's see, uh Arkansas is uh 17th in Ken Pom, uh their fifth in offense, I believe, and uh 53rd in defense. So another another team that struggles on D. Arizona is is ranked second um in Ken Pom, they're fourth in offense, third in D, and they're on an 11-game winning streak. Um again, I I think uh not that Arkansas is necessarily a Cinderella story, but I I I think uh I think their their path ends on uh on Thursday. So I'm I'm with you on that.
SPEAKER_01I'm I'm I'm with you on that. I think Arizona handles them pretty easily.
SPEAKER_00I'm really surprised at the number. I'm surprised it's that close to double digits. I'm I'm thinking it still might get bet down a little bit, um, just because A, it's a big number. B, I think the country, the secret if it was kept, is out on ACUF. Um and I and I still don't think the general population knows or understands how good Arizona is and how good their point guard is, too. So there's a lot of size in Arizona um combined with athleticism. So um I'm I'm I don't like laying 10 points in that situation, but gun to head, I'm doing that, and you're definitely taking them in a money line parley to advance. I don't see an upset there.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I got Arkansas. Um I'm I'm riding Arkansas, riding Acuff. Okay. I I have them in my final four. Um obviously they're gonna have to beat someone to get there. Uh everyone in their bracket, so I I got Arkansas. So I'm I'm I'll probably put a little money line. I like them with the points. Um I have that and a couple bets as well, but um, I just think Acuff can can take over the game if he can score. You know, if hit if they get a little bit of help on the the perimeter and and they can rebound well, um that's what you kind of have to do. Your secondary guys are gonna have to play well. Um Arizona's very good. Wouldn't be shocked if Arizona does boat race them, but um, I like Arkansas, I like Acuff.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, man, historically great guards, uh you know, they usually have good runs in these tourneys, so I wouldn't be shocked.
SPEAKER_02Just sign with Reebok, um getting a signature shoe. Guy hasn't even played in the NBA, he's already got a signature shoe. So rolling the dice.
SPEAKER_00Are they bringing the pump back?
SPEAKER_02They're just literally calling him like the next AI. They're they're like all the comparisons are Alan Iverson. Um so the fact that he signs with Reebok like AI and he's got a taking a picture with AI for the the picture for the promotion. It's they're definitely pumping them. If Reebok's trying to get back in the game.
SPEAKER_01Hopefully he likes the practice more than AI.
SPEAKER_02Probably.
SPEAKER_04Um still still on Thursday, we got Iowa versus Nebraska. I don't know. Not necessarily the most exciting game in the world. Um, you know, both teams are struggling coming into the tourney. Iowa was one and four uh one and four coming in. Um Nebraska was one and three. Um from uh uh a rankings perspective. Uh Iowa was 22nd in Ken Palm. Uh Nebraska was 13th. Um you know, Iowa 25th and offense 31 and D. So I I don't know. Um the key thing here though is uh what you know the real quick, the key thing is uh um Nebraska um I mean Iowa beat Nebraska twice this year. So they played twice in um they're 0 and 2. So thoughts?
SPEAKER_01Hard to beat a team three times in a row. Give me Nebraska.
SPEAKER_04Unless you're just better than they are, you know.
SPEAKER_01Unless you're just better. Unless you're just better.
SPEAKER_00Allow me to pull a Lee Corso and not so fast, my friend, because on March 8th, Nebraska beat them 84 to 75. So your intel's a little off there. Um so I think not so fast.
SPEAKER_04Iowa Maybe I got it backwards. Maybe I got it backwards. Maybe uh maybe it was 02 the other way. Yeah, it's possible.
SPEAKER_00I think it might have been.
SPEAKER_02It's one in one. One in one, but nonetheless.
SPEAKER_00Well, I I just watching Iowa in person, that offense probably should that offense should be ranked lower than it actually is. It's not very good in person. Uh you also have the situation where the what the nine seed just slayed you know the giant. So yeah, you you you're gonna get a lot of people with some sail, sail wind behind tailwind behind the sails saying, you know, this is a team that's gonna go on a run. I don't see it. Nebraska's really well coached with Hoyberg, made a hell of an adjustment um to ice that vanny game. And that team is scrappy and they can they can put up points and they play defense. So I'll I'll take Nebraska laying a very small number in that one.
SPEAKER_01And they can shoot.
SPEAKER_00They can shoot, they can shoot, and they and they got the they got the tournament monkey off their back. I think we're all against them um taking the taking the underdog in the first round, at least the points there, and they wound up smoking them. So and that crowd, that crowd traveled and took over. So if they get if they get 60% of the same crowd, um it's gonna be something special.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Yeah. So I meant I mentioned Nebraska's uh 13th in Ken Pom, but uh it's really because of the defense. They're ranked 52nd in offense and sixth in D. So it's something to keep in mind. Um yeah, I don't have much of a feeling about that game. Uh I don't even know if I'm gonna watch that game, if I'm being if I'm being honest, but uh if I do, I If you're a corn fed Caucasian, you got a lot of interest. Um all right, and then the last game for Thursday is Illinois versus Houston, which uh could could be a really good one. Um uh Illinois was three and three in their left six coming into the tournament. Uh they're sixth in Kent Pom, second in total offense, 24th and D. While Houston was five and one coming to the tournament, they're fourth in Ken Pom, so these guys are really close in the metrics. Uh Houston's 10th and 0, uh 4th and D. Um I actually had a feel I I was gonna say that I I uh I'm on Illinois in this game, and then I remembered they're actually playing in Houston. So I'm gonna I'm gonna take Houston playing a home game. Uh I still think it's gonna be a good game, though.
SPEAKER_02You guys got anything on that? Yeah, I'm I'm I'm riding I'm I'm riding Houston. I have Houston in my I I believe I have them in my final um or at least in the final four. Um so I'm riding Houston to Jeff's point, playing a home game pretty much, or 15-1 at home. Um while Illinois has looked good in the couple games. I I just think Houston's one of the best teams in the nation, so I'll take Houston. Um and with that small of a number, I'll take the with the points as well, with the minus two and a half.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I had I had Illinois beaten VCU and I had Houston beaten AM, so this is the matchup I had, and I have Houston winning this game handily.
SPEAKER_04Handily, okay. All right.
SPEAKER_01I'm with H Town too, especially in a home game.
SPEAKER_04Yep. Yeah, I mean I I think that's the key point. You know, I think if it was on a truly neutral site, I I'd probably be more in Illinois, but uh hard to see them losing at home. Um all right, so let's move on to uh Friday. Um uh Midwest, Alabama versus Michigan. Um uh Alabama came in uh eight and two in their last 10. Uh Michigan um were six and two in their last eight, but they lost to Duke and Purdue, which is kind of interesting. Um, they played two really good teams in their last eight and lost to both of them. Uh but Michigan is ranked first in Ken Palm, they're sixth in offense, second in D. Um Alabama's 12th in Ken Palm, they're third in offense, then 60th in D. So um, yeah. So that you know, I think the key there is Michigan has a pretty good offense, and Alabama has a you know relatively bad defense. Um my guess is Michigan uh pulls through, stays alive as the uh as the one seed.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm I'm with you there, Jeff. Um I got Michigan in my final, I got them as my champ. Um like we talked about a little bit last week. Um Alabama's uh again, the scary part is if they get hot, they shoot a ton of threes, but they can't stop anybody. Um so uh the question is if if Michigan comes out slow and Alabama is able to hit some shots early, can they withstain it? Can they make a couple stops down the stretch to to push Michigan? Um I don't know. Um I I think Michigan's just a better team, so I'll ride with Michigan. Um nine and a half is a is a big number. I'm I would I don't know about if I go there um with it on on the spread, but uh definitely Michigan money line.
SPEAKER_04Alright. Anybody else?
SPEAKER_01I've got Michigan in our bracket, which I'm currently leading in, not by much, but I am. Um nothing to brag about. Um I think I think I'm gonna take Bama in this game. Points.
SPEAKER_02Gotcha. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Take them the points or take it into advance.
SPEAKER_02Take a money liner.
SPEAKER_01Take them with the points. No, no, no. Michigan I think is gonna win, but I'll take them with the points. And and part of that reason is because I do think it's gonna be close, closer than people think. And then the other reason is I don't know if you guys saw the Barstool sports bet that they got going on, Dave and this guy Boston. It's pretty fucking hilarious. Obviously, Dave Portnoy's a a huge Michigan fan, and and the other guy's a big Alabama fan. Well, if Alabama wins, Dave Portnoy's on the record saying he'll double the guy's salary and give him a 10-year deal, which is fucking huge for that kid, if it's true. Um and and then and then if Michigan wins, the kid has to do like a podcast with the guy he hates for the next you know year or two, whatever it is. Something stupid. But no, that's a it's a funny wager, and I think it's gonna be a sweat, but I do think Michigan's gonna win. But gambling-wise, I'm gonna I'll probably throw Bama in a teaser and maybe even take him straight up with the points. I've been teasing a little bit.
SPEAKER_00It's probably a stay away for me, um, just because my spidey senses when I looked at it, I didn't like the number. I thought it was a little elevated. You know, it's a it's it's a 1-4 matchup. So it's kind of the same thing with Arizona. It just seems like a lot of points to give a four-seed um in that situation. But if if Bama is shooting even 28% from three, this could be a 30-point game the other way. So Michigans can score, even though they don't have their number one scorer as as they've shown in the tournament. I mean, again against lower competition, but they're still putting up 195 points. So um they they can score with the best of them, and they can play defense just a little bit better than Alabama. So it wouldn't shock me. It would shock me if Alabama was to win the game. Um, it wouldn't shock me for Alabama to keep it close. I also don't want to take the nine points when I think Michigan can beat them by 15 to 20. So I'm just gonna stay away. Yeah, I think Michigan advances if we're just talking bracket.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it is it is a a nice contrasting style, um, right? I mean, Michigan is very big in their in their uh front court. Alabama is gonna try to spread them out, you know, the whole five out uh thing. So it'll be interesting to see how that plays.
SPEAKER_00But uh Alabama does have that one big kid, Sheree Sherrell, or whatever his name is, and he's he's a big, big boy in person. Big, big boy, wide body. Wide body, like baby movie stuff.
SPEAKER_04All right, the second half of the Midwest is uh Tennessee versus Iowa State. Uh Tennessee was three and three coming in. Uh Iowa State was six and four coming in, but man, they had they played a pretty rough schedule the last 10 games. So they lost to Arizona twice. Uh they lost to Texas Tech, Texas Tech, they lost to BYU, but they did beat Houston and they beat Kansas. So um yeah, they were six and four with uh a lot of tough games in that in that stretch. Um Iowa State, seventh in Ken Palm, seventeenth in offense, fifth in defense, and uh Tennessee, I'm not sure. I think what's the spread in that one.
SPEAKER_02Four and a half.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, four and a half. Okay, there you go. So I I've sort of been on Iowa State the past couple weeks. I mean, you guys have seen me pick them um a couple different times. I do think their defense plays, and uh I think they'll end up winning this game. So Iowa State for me.
SPEAKER_01There you go.
SPEAKER_00I've got Iowa State in the final four, and I don't think this is gonna be much of a game. I think it's gonna start much like the Kentucky game where Kentucky came out, actually took a lead, substantial lead, had it up to 12 points at one point in time, and then the better team showed itself um and and a comeback in the first half and then completely annihilated in the second half. I think Tennessee comes out, keeps it close in the first half, and I think Iowa State coaching and talent separates. So I'll take this for the win and the cover.
SPEAKER_03All right.
SPEAKER_04There you go.
unknownBye-bye.
SPEAKER_04Um now we get to the East, which is you know, is uh the final four in itself, yeah. Yeah, what the what what's the coach's name in Michigan State? I'm blanking.
SPEAKER_02Izzo.
SPEAKER_04Izzo? Izzo. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, Izzo. I mean, you you you stole you you stole my joke, but yeah, he he called it the final, the final, you know, basically this region is the final four. So um and he's not wrong. I mean, quality of the teams. I mean, they all four of them could certainly go to the final four. So Michigan State, these teams are very close, uh, especially if you're looking at Ken Palm. Michigan State ranked ninth, 22nd in offense, 13th and D, while Yukon is ranked 10th, 30th in offense, 11th and D. Yukon's offensive number has really struggled recently just because they're shooting so bad from three. Um, you know, their efficiency number is just way down. Um, although they did bounce back last week. So, I mean, in the last, you know, the second game last weekend. So let's see if maybe they're turning the corner there. But uh anyway, um, you know, like I said, two very close teams. They play very similarly. Um, both coaches believe in defense. Um, you know, uh they have experienced players. So I look selfishly, I'm I'm taking you. You know, it's funny, this was the only line that that moved a lot. Uh uh Michigan State opened as a point and a half favorite um when that Yukon game ended late on uh on Sunday, and then when we woke up on Monday morning, it moved three points, and Yukon was a one and a half point favorite. So um and it hasn't moved since. And really none of the other lines have moved much um since they opened. So it's just weird that I mean the sharps obviously jumped on Yukon at that minus one and a half or that plus one and a half number. So um I'm I'm taking UConn. I think they I think they do cover the one and a half. So uh I think it'll be a close game, but I I think UConn is gonna hit more threes than they have recently, and uh I think they uh I think they come out and uh we'll we'll see who they meet in the Elite Eight.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm I'm I'm with you there. I'm with you there. I got UConn. I got UConn in the Elite Eight. Um I I'm really just really want the St. John's UConn matchup. I know you guys might not as UConn fans because that could get squirrely. Um but I would just love it for the story of it all of the that third game of the year, or excuse me, fourth game of the year, um playing each other would just be electric, and uh I just wanted so bad that I I'm not seeing anything else. I'm not seeing anything else. It's just Yukon and St. John's money line. I don't care.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I mean for the record, I I I wouldn't mind it. I mean, I know I know uh I mean all three games have been blowouts, you know. St. John's won two of them, Yukon won the other one. I'm not necessarily afraid of playing St. John's, but uh I do like beating Duke, so I wouldn't, you know, if Duke ends up winning and then Yukon ends up beating Duke, I mean there's you you can never go wrong there, but uh but yeah, I'm not I mean as a fan I'm not afraid of St. John's. Uh maybe I should be, but um, yeah, anyway.
SPEAKER_01And you're not over and you're not and you're not and you're not overlooking Michigan State, are you?
SPEAKER_04Not at all. No, no, no. They could easily win that game, Bubba. Easily. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So I think Izzo's got Izzo's the guy that could do it with that team. So I mean, if if anyone's gonna do it, I mean I may take Michigan State on the money line. I think I've got UConn in our bracket going to the Final Four, but I've you know the other night I texted you guys, and and you know, I don't pay as much attention into Yukon basketball as you do, but I was like, do you are I mean, there is there a chance they lose this game? And you guys just didn't seem as confident, and I'd count I count on you guys as my Yukon experts. Um you said there's some injuries.
SPEAKER_04My main Yeah, I mean that was it, Bubba. I mean, I was worried that uh the point guard wasn't gonna play. Um they're they're also short one of the rotation guys, but the point guard did end up playing about 20 minutes, and he looked pretty good. So I feel confident that he's gonna be playing on Friday night. Um if he wasn't gonna play, I I would be a lot less confident that they would beat Michigan State. But if he's playing, I feel pretty good about it.
SPEAKER_01So there you go. Yeah, I've got yeah, I've got I've got Duke, I've got Duke winning it. But I think I had them going moving on to the Elite Eight.
SPEAKER_00Um can I I looked at Kenpon before as well, Jeff, and Kenpon would suggest this game's a stay away because you know it's the the the variances are you know percentage points, right? It's not it's a point here, it's a half a point there, and you can try to make the math do what it do. But um you know, Bubbo, your your point about Jeff and I being a little hesitant on the UCLA game, it it was more the fact that you know Demory wasn't playing, and I made the joke to Jeff because we were talking as I was going over the Howard Franklin, I was explaining I was on a bridge and UConn was shooting so bad. If I if I said throw the ball out the car into the water, they would have missed. That's how bad they so but this is what I talked about beforehand when I said when we were filling out the brackets and I was gonna do the homer pick. The thing with Yukon is they have the talent and they've shown, you know, just look at the you know, look at November and December, what they did to these teams in the tournament, um, with the exception of Arizona, where they were down two starters. They beat everybody on this board. So if they can if they can shoot average for their standards, they can beat Michigan State. If they shoot in, you know, if they shoot 38 to 40 percent from three, it's gonna be a double-digit win. Um, unless Reed gets in foul trouble and the in the the the uh German kid um can't have it can't hack it. Izzo hasn't made a final four run since 2019. Um good good coach, old, made it made a nice little run last year. It seemed like they were gonna make a big run um and fell a little bit short. I don't see that team being, you know, again, every both teams playing their A game, I think Yukon wins. Um Michigan State playing its A game, and Yukon comes out and is playing that B minus, can't hit the side of the bar and goes down 10-15 in the first half, we're in trouble. Um, but I'm I'll obviously take them to advance and you know, I'll jump the shark for you, Jeff. Um I've I've said on this show before, I'm not wild about a fourth game with with St. John's only because Patino knows how to coach against Hurley. The kids know each other, they know how to bang, they know you know we're gonna get their best effort. I think it's a better matchup, Yukon playing Duke, just because Duke hasn't seen it and it'll be harder for them to prepare. That said, St. John's also can't beat Yukon outside of New York. So I I I'm not gonna go in thinking that it's gonna be a bloodbath, and I think the line will get misrepresented, and St. John's would actually be favored as a five seed over a two-seed, which would just be an immediate fire on Yukon.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I think they I think they will be favored if they hit the plane. I really do. But uh crazy. Um yeah, anyway. And then that bring I mean that brings us right to the St. John's Duke game, which I I I assume uh for most people is the most anticipated game of the Thursday Friday set. So um both teams uh have won 13 straight games, uh, include you know, including what they did in the in the tournament so far. Um St. John's 16th in Ken Pom, 42nd in offense, eighth in defense, Duke uh third in Ken Pom, seventh in offense, and first in defense. So you got Duke's number one ranked defense, at least through Ken Pom, again, St. John's 42nd ranked offense. I mean, I've said, I mean, we've talked obviously this because St. John's and you kind of played three times, we've talked about this many times, but um St. John's is not a very gifted team offensively. Um they have stretches where they they hit a couple of threes in a row or whatever, but basically all their points come off of forcing forcing turnovers and getting offensive rebounds. If you don't turn the ball over and if you if you rebound the ball well, then they're they're definitely beatable. Um so uh again as a Yukon fan, I I don't necessarily care who we play. Um I'm gonna root for St. John's. I as a Big East fan, I I will always root for Big East teams, and especially because I Don't like Duke on top on top of that. Um, you know, I'm not a Patino fan, but he is a great coach. I mean, uh, you know, how can you deny that fact? So I'll root for St. John's. I kind of have a feeling Duke's gonna win the game, though.
SPEAKER_01So I agree. I think Duke's gonna win this game.
SPEAKER_02I got St. John's in my final four, so I'm gonna arrive. I'm not gonna I'm not gonna play both sides of the fence like Bob was trying to do. Uh I I predicted St. John's to beat Duke in my bracket, and I will keep true to that. Um I don't know if the big man from Duke is playing. I think that I think they've said he probably he's he's like game time um that I think he is gonna play, um, which definitely helps them to just point rebound um and do some of those things to keep them um from getting out of hand. It's when you lose those rebounds, give the team second chance second, third chances, um, when things can get weird. Um so if he's playing, obviously makes that St. John's hill to climb bigger. Um but uh I I just he got experience with Patino. Shire's got there last year close um and they blew a game. So when things get tight and in close, does Rick's experience give him the nod over Shire? Um we saw Rick do it in the last round with the play call he he drew up to to get Darling the ball. Um and all that worked out for him. Um outcoached um in the last game. Um who's it, Bill Self they beat um last game? Um so think that could happen here again. Uh yes, Duke's more talented, but I'll ride with St. John's and Ricky P.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I haven't heard anything about the big guy. I mean, I I know he was kind of 50-50 last week and he didn't play. Um, so my guess is that he'll play this week, but I mean you just you never know, right? And they're also, I mean, the other the other boozer is playing a lot because uh their their normal point guard has has been hurt too. So I don't I don't know if he's playing um this weekend either.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I listen, I've got Duke advancing in the bracket, um, but I already have betts in. Um, and we'll see later in this show, but I already have betts in. I I'll definitely take St. John's and the money, but you know, stop me if you've heard me say this before. Um fuck Duke. That's just how I feel. And I I I'm not gonna hold back my animosity towards the program. I think they're soft. Um that's that's unbiased. I just think they're soft, and I think Sienna exposed them. And you know, I thought I think I said it in the ACC tournament. They look soft there too. St. John's, to your point, Jeff, is not a great shooting team, but they are physical. And as long as the refs um let it let it slamp more to big E style basketball, I think they can bully them fully. And if the big guy for um St. John's comes to play, which I I have no doubt he will, I think he's gonna go right at the the older or the older, the bigger boozer. And I don't think it matters if the center for Duke is playing or not. I think he's gonna be a problem for them. So um I wouldn't be shocked. That said, I'm not shocked if Duke wins in advances. They're the number one seed. Um and I I'm just looking for a good game, but I always like a good game when Duke loses.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I'm with you. And for the record, I mean I do have Duke advancing in the R bracket too. But like I said, I I didn't really expect St. John's to get here. I I I kind of thought they would lose to Kansas. I thought so too. So yeah, so now that they are there, I'll root for him because like I said, I'll root for the big East. But uh I I I do I just kind of think Duke is gonna win. So did we lose Bubba? I don't see Bubba's picture.
SPEAKER_02His computer might have died. But we'll keep on chugging if he gets back in when we get him back in.
SPEAKER_00Alright, technical difficulties.
SPEAKER_04What's going on, uh Ash? I see I see you looking at the TV. What's going on with the Yankees game?
SPEAKER_00Uh a little bloop single after a missed double play opportunity. So runners at the corners for the Giants, bottom of first, one out.
SPEAKER_04Okay. All right. Um, all right. Well, speaking of that, let's uh let's let's move on to a little baseball. You're back. All right. Perfect.
SPEAKER_00Power cord. Gotta find that power cord.
unknownOh.
SPEAKER_04Can you hear us? Can you hear us, Bubba?
SPEAKER_02He's probably getting back on Discord.
SPEAKER_04There you go. He's back.
SPEAKER_02Jeff looking like a young spry babe Ruth.
SPEAKER_04There you go, brother. Um, all right, perfect timing, Bubba. We're gonna we're gonna move on to a little baseball here.
SPEAKER_00Um, we did uh I would I would have went to I would have went bloated Mickey Mannell, Tyler.
SPEAKER_04Hey, come on. Easy there. Um we uh we did a little baseball a couple weeks ago, so uh we're not gonna repeat ourselves, uh, but we we're gonna do a little thing a little bit different uh today. We're just gonna pick our favorites for each division. Um we're gonna do it from a gambling basis, though, so we will be uh talking uh baseball odds. Um and uh I guess let's start in the NL East. Who has to go first in the NL East?
SPEAKER_02Um I I mean I can go. Um I got the Phillies uh and we're doing this like we did the NFL for you guys that listen to us. Uh like if you had a hundred dollars bet, um, not necessarily who you may think you know will win, but we would what with betting involved, where would you go with your money um there? So um I'll go with the Phillies. Um Elise is tight. I think the Mets have got the best odds in the division this year. Um I believe, but I'll go with the Phillies. Yeah, I'll go Phillies plus 175. Um, they're all tight up there at the top. I think there's three teams under plus two hundred um to win when I was looking. So I'll go with the Phillies.
SPEAKER_04All right. I got to Phillies too. I I saw them at plus two hundred on MGM, so I'll I'll uh I'll use those odds. But uh, you know, the the you know the Phillies uh they're a year older. Um I mean and they're not a young team, but they they do they finally did bring up a couple of uh young position players that uh should get uh a lot of innings this year. So um yeah, uh Phillies plus 200. I'm a little worried about the Mets. I mean the Mets did a complete fucking rebuild of their team, and you just don't know what to expect out of it. You know, you just don't know what what's gonna happen there, you know.
SPEAKER_02So yeah, they got a lot of money involved, but does it does it all work out? They've had a lot of money for a lot of years and they don't necessarily panned out, so Bubba?
SPEAKER_01I'm on the Phillies too. I see him, I saw him at plus 175. I'm with you guys. I think Schorber, Harper, those guys, they got one more good year left in them, maybe a couple, but I think they've they definitely have at least one and and the Phillies always seem to just fucking somehow get to 90 wins or more. And and I'm with you, Jeff, on the Mets. I uh they've been trying this shit for years, and nothing's changed. They signed these guys, they spent a shit ton of money, and you know, they got a flashy lineup, but they can never seem to I mean that they did win 90-something games la last year, I think. So they had they had it, but they just couldn't pull together the the big ones. And so I'm taking the five there.
SPEAKER_04They had a big I mean they uh they uh I mean they tanked near the end of the season, though. I mean they Yeah, I know it's part of the reason why they blew that team up. So Ash, who do you got in East?
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna zag away and I'm gonna go with the Braves plus 225. Um a healthy Acunya is a healthy MVP candidate as as long as he's healthy. Um they've they've got returning players that have been there before. They've um their pitching's gonna be adequate enough. I'm just it's more of a fade of both the Mets and the Phillies. I don't like the Mets roster. Um I I get it financially, but I just don't think going into the season with Lindor hurt and a lot of gaps there for me. And I think the Phillies I I don't know where Harper or Schwarber are, to be honest with you. I'm not using the world baseball classic as the litmus test, but I just think to your you know, Bubba, there there's there could be a counterbalance to they just find a way, but they might not find a way this year. So um wouldn't none of it would shock me, but um I would actually if if I if I'm putting money on it, I would rather I'd rather take the higher odds and bet against them missing the playoffs than I would to take them to win the division.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. All right. I mean the f you know the the Braves um I think I think I took the Braves to hit their over this year, but I'm a little worried about them just because they're already facing some pitching injuries. Um so we'll we'll see what happens there. But uh Ash, snake it back. Who do you who do you have in the central? And uh NL Central.
SPEAKER_00Cubs. Cubs, it's it's a chalk, it's a chalky pick, but um, I didn't feel like hurting my brain on this one either. Uh there wasn't much to overthink. A lot of people are are are talking about the pirates, and I just don't see it. The organization, you know, got a little bit more talent. You got the best pitcher in baseball, most likely. Um, red should be a little bit better. Brewers are gonna do what the brewers do, and then St. Louis is always sneaky. I just think there's a lot of talent there with the Cubs, and I I think they performed pretty well last year, and I think they can run it back. So I'll just go Cubs.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and they just signed, they just uh extended um PCA Crow Armstrong too. Yeah, yeah. So I think that I think I saw something said they have their highest payroll ever um in the history of their their organization, so um, which is nothing crazy in 2026, it's just getting higher every fucking year. But um, I'm with Jay on that. I think the Cubs are I mean, I'm I'm a little biased too because I saw a game at Wrigley last year. It's fucking electric. I'm like secretly a Cubs fan now. So go Cubs. Even money, I'd take them all day.
SPEAKER_04Yep, yep. I'm I'm on the Cubs too. Um, you know, they signed Bregman, they brought in Edward Edwin Edward Cabrera. So you know, they made a couple of additions, and uh yeah, I saw a plus 100 as well. So I'm on I'm on Chicago.
SPEAKER_02Yep, same thing. Was it an Aaron Judge home run?
SPEAKER_00It was not.
SPEAKER_02Ah, damn it. Um, but I'm on the Cubs as well. Um, all the reasons they said I think they got better, they were young, um, they outperformed probably what they should have last year. So I think if they can build on that, bring in a guy like Bregman, um uh is is probably only gonna benefit you. What the Red Sox were doing with that doesn't make any sense to me. Um but yeah, I I'll go with the Cubs as well, plus 100.
SPEAKER_04All right, and who do you got in the West?
SPEAKER_02In the West, I have uh I'm going with the Padres. Um and and I get that the Dodgers are in the West, but minus 600 to win the the West. I'm just I I wouldn't and now it might be the safest bet in baseball, but Padres are hanging tough with them, but at plus 800, um I would go with the Padres.
SPEAKER_04I I'm with you for the same reasons. I mean, it's just um you know, if the we're talking value here, right? I mean the Dodgers probably are going to win the division, but um you know the Padres have you know given them a race uh a couple times over the past few years, so it's not outlandish. Um I'm I'm I'm taking the Padres too just because of the value.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, I would uh agree with that. I mean, and and unless it's just an injury-riddled season, I don't see how the Dodgers don't win that. But um, you know, can the Padres put it together with with their 11 shortstops? So let's see what happens.
SPEAKER_01There you go. Yankees going scoring another two.
SPEAKER_04Nice. Bubba, who who you got? You on the Padres too, Bubba?
SPEAKER_01No, I'm not actually. I'm actually on the Giants um at plus eighteen hundred. I mean, I'm with you guys on it. The Dodgers are gonna fucking win the division. Like unless I mean even one injury is not gonna do it to them. I mean, they're gonna win a lot of fucking games this year. Um, and and they're gonna win that division, but for value, um, it's plus 900 or plus 1800. And I think the Giants, you know, I'm not saying they're gonna win the division, obviously, but they got a strong lineup this year. This coat, this is a brand new coach, so we'll see how he, you know, see how it plays out. But the Yankees just fucking back hitting is contagious, is what they say.
SPEAKER_04Nice. Like to hear it.
SPEAKER_01But but but yeah, I got um I got uh I got the Giants. If I'm gonna throw a hundred bucks on a division winner there for value, I'm throwing it on the plus eighteen hundred Giants.
SPEAKER_04I mean, I will say this about the Dodgers. I mean, they've kind of underperformed in the regular season the past few years, and part of that is just injuries. Um, you know, they have a lot of pitchers who are high upside guys, but they're also high injury guys. Um I mean, Yamamoto, obviously, you leave out of that equation uh equation. Uh Otani's finally gonna pitch this year, but is he gonna stay healthy? I mean, he struggled to stay healthy as a pitcher. And then you got you know, guys like Glasnell and I mean, so they've struggled to stay healthy. They're they're not young. Um you know, Freeman and Mookie Betts. I mean, those guys have dealt with injuries. So the you know, the Dodgers have struggled a little bit in the regular season, at least from an expectation standpoint. So, like I said, it wouldn't be insane if the Padres are sort of hanging around um when we hit September, you know.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Um anyway, uh AEL. Let's go. Uh let's start with the AL West. Um, I'll start on this one. Um, I got the Mariners plus 100. Uh, you know, they got a really good rotation. They added uh Brendan Dunovan to play third base. Um so uh, you know, I I think just uh a good team got better. Um so I'll uh I'll go with the Mariners.
SPEAKER_02Uh I'm going with the Astros. Um and again, more more value. Um it's just the plus you know 250 or so um that I'm seeing them at. Um I I'll ride with the Astros um getting back to where they kind of had a little bit of a dominance there for you know five, six years. So we'll go with the Stroes.
SPEAKER_01There you go. I'm on I'm on the Mariners with Jeff. I think uh I think they got the team to do it. I love their manager. Um and I I honestly think the Astros may finish closer to last and closer to first in that division. Um they just they're not the same Astros, they've let a lot of pieces go. Um I'll make that bet, by the way.
SPEAKER_02Because they have two dog shit teams in that division.
SPEAKER_01That's true. That is true. The Oakland Athletics and the Angels are just fucking brutal. Um actually the A's. I mean, a lot of people think the A's are gonna be pretty solid this year.
SPEAKER_04I mean, I don't know what they're doing.
SPEAKER_00But then again, but then again, but then again, the Rangers. Get off my bit, Jeff. You already spoke. Get off my shit.
SPEAKER_01Um, but and the Rangers are bad too. So to your point, I mean they just don't have the roster either. So I'm taking the Mariners at plus 100 as well, Jeff.
SPEAKER_04Well, I guess Ash just told us who he's got. All right, brother.
SPEAKER_00Well, yeah, when we did this exercise uh during spring training, I I had um my prop, my prop or my um underdog, whatever category it was, I had the A's making the playoffs. So I'll just jump the shark and I'll take the A's to win the division at plus 1600. Um so I'll go big value play there and uh a lot of money. But Bubba, just go go back and look at the last uh hundred games, and the A's had, I think, the third best record in baseball.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I don't know.
SPEAKER_00It's not it's not a it's not a dog shit team. It's actually got a lot of talent, and we we actually saw um um Severino pitch in in the world baseball classic and look like he he can he can find what he used to be when he came into the league, and I think he can bolster that staff. So ballpark aside, I I think there's actually a little energy, I think there's a little buzz, and I think the Mariners still the still the best team in that division on paper. Um, but they're they're one or two injuries away, you know, especially on the pitching side. Raleigh's not gonna hit 60 homers this year if he reverts to his three season average. You know, he's still gonna be in that 30 home run range, which is phenomenal for your catcher. Um, but to your point, I don't think the Rangers are gonna be competitive. I don't think the Angels are gonna be competitive, and the Astros, they always seem to find a way. So I just like the A's to sneak something in, and um if they don't win the division, I like I said, I already have him for a wild card on on some of our plays. So I'll just uh I'll just double it down. I don't like the minus 102 or even money.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. I hear you. Yeah, so you're and just for you Yankee fans, where the fuck was that Severino when he was in New York? I mean, he looked disgusting.
SPEAKER_04Well, he was really good in New York. He couldn't stay healthy, Bubba. Yeah, he couldn't.
SPEAKER_01I know that's what it was. He just couldn't stay healthy, is what I'm saying. So if he can pull it pull together, he's gonna have a fucking great season because he has he had some electricity.
SPEAKER_02Couldn't stop putting random shit on his body and getting thrown out of game at one point. Very true. Did it like three straight starts or something crazy?
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Uh Ash, uh, who do you got in the central? AL Central.
SPEAKER_00I have the Kansas City Royals at plus two twenty or two twenty-two, depending on what book you're looking at. Um I think Bobby Witt has Jr. has a big year. I think uh the Tampa kid, Jack Caglione, um, starts coming into his own a little bit. I do think they have the pitching. I think Detroit takes a big step back. I think School Bowl gets traded before the end of the before the end of the season. And um Yeah, I don't I don't like the bottom half of that division at all. So I'm gonna go with the Royals.
SPEAKER_01I love that pick. I love that pick. I I agree with you on Detroit. I mean, they've probably got the best rotation they've had um in a long time with with Valdez and Scuble and Verlander. I know Verlander's a little older, but still still a pretty good pitcher. Um but I'm with you. The young cats in in Kansas City, I think, are gonna be electric this year. They've got the I mean the best shortstop in the fucking in the league. So um power that with some with some nice bats and you know, a couple couple decent starting pitching. Um starting pitchers, I I think they're gonna be okay. I think I think they're gonna shock a lot of people. And at plus two twenty-five, I'll take them. Don't think the Guardians are gonna be good. No, no hope for the Twins or the White Sox. So I I love the Royals pick. I'm on them too.
SPEAKER_00Yes, indeedy.
SPEAKER_02Uh I'm going with the Tigers. Um this is contingent on Scoobyl not being an asshole and pitching the whole season. Um but I'll go with the Tigers. Um Bubba's point, good pitching staff. Um, if if um why am I blanking on his name? Javier Baez um looked a lot better last year um from years prior where he looked like he wasn't not even trying to hit the baseball. Um so I think if he plays better as well, um, continues that streak, they could be a good team. They blew it down the stretch last year, um, kind of, so I think mentality-wise, they come into this year with a little bit of a chip on their shoulder um and kind of finish that that story out a little bit better than they did last year.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I'm with Tyler. Um I'll I'll take the Tigers at minus 110. It's the only team I'm taking with minus odds. Um, I'm a little worried about uh Scuble getting traded, uh like Ash mentioned. Um, but they did bring in Valdez. Um so I mean, you know, if if they need somebody to sort of step in as the ace, at least they have him. They also announced uh today that uh their prize uh minor leaguer is gonna start the year with with the team. So uh Kevin McConagall, um, who's a uh shortstop, who's supposedly uh a legitimate bat. Um so they're you know they're not messing around. You know, a lot of teams would leave him down there for a few weeks to try to get that extra year of control, but uh they're they're they're gonna play him right off the bat. So um yeah, so Tigers minus 110. And then finally the AL East. Um uh it probably will be the best division in baseball. I mean, you could you could take the Yanks, the uh Jays, the Red Sox, or the Orioles uh to win the division, and I don't think anybody would laugh at you. Even the Rays, I think, are gonna be better this year than they have been the past couple of seasons. But I'll go with the Yanks at plus 170. Um again, I know a lot of people are saying that they're they're running back the same team from last year. It's not necessarily true because uh what they are is they're running back to team that finished last season, but they made a lot of changes in the middle of the year. Um, you know, last year they had Devin Williams as their closer. He blew a ton of saves. I mean, Luke Weaver, who I love and I actually wish he was still with the team, um, he got hurt, you know, and he never recovered, so he struggled the second half of the year. I mean, they had Strowman making big, uh big starts for them during the year. I mean, he's gone. Um, you know, Schlittler only pitched half the season, so I mean, they're gonna get him for a full year. DJ LeMayhu is gone. He he played a lot of innings last year, and I love DJ, but he just wasn't the same player last year. So they're not this necessarily the same team that played all season. Remember, we're talking about winning the division. Last year they tied with the Jays. Um, so one game makes a big deal, you know. Um, so yeah, Yanks, Yanks plus one seventy. We lost Boba again, by the way.
SPEAKER_01I'm here. I got you. Okay. Oh, oh, you can't see me, but I'm here.
SPEAKER_00Oh, he put John Cena on you.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I'm going with the Yankees as well. Um I echo pretty much everything that Jeff said. I do think the Red Sox are the only other team that I probably I mean every team's pretty good. I was looking at the Red Sox, um their young roster. Um I'll take the Yankee just leadership and and been there. I mean, feels like feels like Judge has been there for like 15 years now. Um somehow. And he hasn't been.
SPEAKER_04Well, this is this is the 10th. You're not that far off. It's crazy. I thought it was only like six or seven now.
SPEAKER_02Um but yeah, I think it if they stay healthy, if they can get some good uh if they're pitching, their starting staff can do the job. Um I I think the Yankees will end up winning that division when it's all said and done. But I think to Jeff's point, they have a very good division.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, they have a very deep rotation. I mean, I don't think people realize it. I mean, we didn't even talk about Cole, who's you know, back to he's back to throwing 98 miles per hour, and uh we're probably gonna see him in early to mid-May. So um they have a really deep rotation. They got, I mean, heel didn't even uh they're not gonna need a fifth starter for the first couple weeks of the season, so they got heel in the minor leagues, they got uh two triple eight young pitchers in the minor leagues, including one that uh throws averages 101 with his fastball. He's a starter, it's it's it's a so anyway.
SPEAKER_02The young kid from last year's starting up from the playoffs?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it's gonna be it's gonna be their number two to start the year. Yeah, I guess.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So I'll I'll go bigger, bigger pitcher, because I think everybody knows where I'm gonna land on the division, right? So just kind of recap. I I've got the the Royals in the Central, I think that's the only playoff team. I've got the A's in the West, and I've got Seattle as a wildcard, which means I got three playoff teams in the AL East, and the Blue Jays are not one of them. So I I think the Oyo, the Orioles take a step up. I think the Red Sox, um, as we saw in the wild card last year, um, you know, especially with Roman Anthony Buzz. Um and uh don't call me Croquetta uh as for ace on that staff. I I think they're gonna be a they're gonna be a contender for the AL East title for sure, but I'll I'll take the Yanks um as a homer pick. It's what I always do. Um it's it's the first hundred dollars I place every year. Um so it's not a not a shock that I'm gonna take them a plus 177, but I echo everything Jeff says about the team and the transition. So that's what I got.
SPEAKER_01There you go. I um I I think to to both of y'all's points, the AL East is without question going to be the best division um in baseball. And uh, and if I have a hundred bucks, which I do have a hundred bucks, I'm gonna throw it on the Rays, winning that division at plus twenty five hundred. I mean, I'm a Sock fan. You guys know that, but plus 2500, they could easily win this division. Nobody wants to fucking complain the drop. They're back in the drop. Junior Camanero's hot. They've got Yandi Diaz, who's a hit machine. I mean, they always fucking find pitching. Um, McClanahan's coming back. He could be big for them this year. So I at plus 2500 for sure. I'll fucking throw 100 bucks on him. I don't think it should be 2500. I mean, I know it's the strongest division in baseball, but you know, that's crazy to me.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I mean, I think part of it is, you know, the the Red Sox and uh the Blue Jays and Orioles all improved. Um the Rays, you know, because the Rays don't spend money, they kind of, you know, yeah, they never do. Yeah, yeah. So um look, man, I wouldn't be I look, I truly wouldn't be shocked. I mean, if they if they if they won the division, I wouldn't be shocked. I'd be surprised, but not shocked. So um all right, and then real quick, let's just wrap up uh the baseball part of this uh uh show. Um uh I'll I'll just I'll just list my my teams out real quick. I got I got the Yanks winning the AL at plus 400. I got the Dodgers uh winning the NL at plus 125. I'm surprised that they're actually plus odds there, so I'll I'll take that. And uh and this isn't you know, I'll I'll do my real homer pick of the of the of the night. I'll take the Yanks at plus 900 to win the World Series. So looking looking for that match, that rematch from a couple years ago. And uh like I said, the Yankees pitching staff is gonna be really good. I don't think people understand that you know uh what you see at the beginning of the year isn't isn't necessarily what you're gonna see in the middle of the season, especially at the end of the year. The staff is gonna be really good. So Yanks plus 900.
SPEAKER_02Jay, do you want to go next? I I don't know why I have an inkling that that might be pretty similar to what you're doing there. I I will just say what he said. Yep. Um I'm good. Bubba?
SPEAKER_01I am going to take the Dodgers winning the NL, and I'm gonna take the Royals coming out of the AL and and I'm gonna take the Royals at plus 5,000 to win the World Series. What are their odds to win the AL? Uh AL Central or AL?
SPEAKER_02AL Central plus 1,600 to win the AL.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So all right, good for you, Bubba. I I I like it. Um going with uh the Dodgers. Uh again, no shocker there. Um on the American League side, I did say the Yankees will win the division. Uh I'm gonna take the Red Sox at plus 700 to win the AL. Um, again, um young talent. They they just might find something late in the season. Um again, not shocked if the Yankees do it um either. They're the other one that I'm looking at. But uh I'll go with the Red Sox and then I'll take the Dodgers to win the World Series. Um again, it's it's chalky. Um, but it's they're just fucking good, man. That roster is just like crazy. Um so getting them at what plus uh 225, you're still getting plus money. It's not a crazy number, but plus two twenty-five to win the world series. Um I'll take the Dodges.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. I don't I don't blame you, man. I don't blame you. Alright. Well, there's your uh your baseball roundup, and uh we'll check the scorecard at the end of the season and see how we did.
SPEAKER_02And the Yankees are winning 5-0 in game one, so on pace to literally not give up any runs and score about 6,000 runs a game.
SPEAKER_04I like it. Um, so you wanna you wanna do the lock prop and dog of the week?
SPEAKER_02Sure. All right. What do we want to start with?
SPEAKER_04I'll start it. I'll start with the lock of the week. I got uh Yanks minus one and a half, so that's looking pretty good right now. Um I take that back. I got I I take that sorry, I take that back. I got the uh I got Iowa State minus four and a half. Um I I went with uh a college for the lock in the dog, so I got uh Iowa State minus four and a half. Last week I had BYU minus two and a half, and that was a uh big L for me.
SPEAKER_02So very nice.
SPEAKER_00Um am I up?
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, last week I had Kansas laying 14 in that first round. That did not happen, unfortunately. Um so my lock this week is actually the Houston Cougars at minus two and a half in that home Houston game we talked about over Illinois.
SPEAKER_03Thanks.
SPEAKER_01I gotta pull it up right now. Let me see what I had last week. I know what I got this week, but let me see what I got last week. Last week I had, well, I wasn't on last week, but the week before that I had as my lock Dominican minus two and a half. And I think that was a loser. Um this week I took the um I'm taking the over seven in this game, and you'll know that I took it before the game started because um you'll see it in a in a ticket later, but um yeah, at over seven. So now they got five, it's third inning. I'm hoping I'm hoping that we uh can pull it out. Look good.
SPEAKER_02Last week you had UGA minus two, Bubba. I think they lost by um what'd they lose by? They got pounded. 20 or something. So the lock last week was not great for you. Um, but that's okay. We we swing and we miss sometimes. Um this week, or last week I went the UConn Furman over, like I talked about earlier. Um that came in. This week going another over, Bama, Michigan. Um, we talked about both those teams pretty much being able to score. I'm just thinking of shootout um 174 and a half, obviously, is it's a lot of points, um, especially in college. But I think these two teams, if they're both shooting well, um, mostly on the Alabama sides, I think Michigan will be able to get their shots and get to the paint. But if Alabama shoots it well, um, which I anticipate they do, um, we get the over in that game. Um I'll go right into my prop. Um my prop was last week uh any of the three Florida, any three Florida teams to win round one, um, and we had two out of the four win. Um UCF let us down, and USF shot couldn't hit water if they fell out of a boat um and lost that game and ended up uh uh getting a loss there. So um came up short there. Um this week, um, the prop of the week, um six years strong. Um Tyler O'Neill home run um game one of the season. It's six straight years of it hitting. Um I I'm shocked that they don't have it um lower. Um it is the odds on it are just because it's happened so often and so many people want to bet it. Uh I guess it's probably pay attention to it later on in the season and see if it if his odds to hit a home run are are more than plus three twenty-five. Um, but it's plus three twenty-five for hit uh for him to hit a home run. So that is probably juice because of the six year straight.
SPEAKER_01All right.
SPEAKER_04Baba, what do you got?
SPEAKER_01Let's see. Last week for my prop, I believe that I had Cam Boozer over 22 and a half. I think he had 22 points. I'm almost positive he had 22 points in that game. Um, but tonight I've got so the half point crushes me on that prop. But tonight I've got Judge to hit a dinger, and I I think uh a couple others have that too, but I put that in last minute before we hopped on. Um Judge to hit a dinger. We got six more innings for that to happen.
SPEAKER_03Alright.
SPEAKER_00Tyler, I'm so glad you reminded me of the Tyler O'Neill home run tomorrow.
SPEAKER_02So yes, thank you, thank you. I'll take whatever you win off of it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'll definitely be playing that fine. Um yeah, I I've got Judge with the homer tonight at plus 230 on the hard rock.
SPEAKER_04Last week?
SPEAKER_00Say again?
SPEAKER_04Last week.
SPEAKER_00Last week I had Ben Griffin in the top ten at the Vallas Bar, and that was a last week I had Jada McDaniels to hit at least two threes.
SPEAKER_04He did, so that was a winner. This week I got judge to have at least one RBI. Um, does he have one by the way? You guys have been watching the game? Did he have no?
SPEAKER_00No, he's got two strikeouts.
SPEAKER_04Oh, does he really? Okay.
SPEAKER_01Um so he can hit for all three of us with one swing of the bat, though.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, one RBI is plus one fifty-five, which I just that was too big of a number for me to pass up. So um and for my dog, last week I had uh Hofster plus 550. That was kind of like a hard pick. Um didn't come in. Um this week I have uh St. John's. Um I just didn't I I just like I said I I I wanted to go with Illinois, but I remembered that they were playing on the road basically, so I I shied away from that.
unknownSt.
SPEAKER_04John's is really the only other dog that I could see uh pulling out of victory, so I got them plus two thirty five.
unknownSt.
SPEAKER_00John's plus two twenty-five.
SPEAKER_01There you go.
SPEAKER_02Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_01Um last week I had USF and uh that was a no-go. Terrible. Um tomorrow afternoon one.
SPEAKER_04Did you guys see that they hired a new coach today, by the way?
SPEAKER_01Yep. Did they?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, Chris Mann.
SPEAKER_01Louisville Tampa connection. Um I'm taking the Pittsburgh Pirates and Paul Skeens tomorrow afternoon to carve up the New York Mets at 115 in the afternoon. They're plus 105. I will take Paul Skins and the Pirates.
SPEAKER_02Nice. Um I have the under in that game, Bubba, so I'm right there with you that he'll be pitching well. But um I took last week I took Troy. They got fucking trounced. At least USF kind of made it a game towards the second half. Uh again, I was betting on Nebraska never winning a game before. Um and I'm going St. John's right there with uh Jeff and Jeff and Jay.
SPEAKER_04Love it. Alright.
SPEAKER_02Yes, sir.
SPEAKER_04Oh, bragging rights.
SPEAKER_02To bragging rights, we go. Last week, um Jay, I believe this one was you. Did you have uh high point plus ten and a half VCU, Akron, and USF?
SPEAKER_00I did, and I'd like to thank um thank a couple of those teams for not showing up.
SPEAKER_02Happens. Uh Jeff, I believe this was you.
SPEAKER_04We got a winner here, folks. Two weeks in a row. Uh Asher last week and me this week. Um yes. So I had uh the Pelicans on the money line, they won. Lakers on the money line on the road, they won. Klingon uh at least 12 and a half rebounds, he got that. And uh Jalen Brown, at least four and a half assists, he got that. So again, not to not the greatest odds in the world. It's uh basically nine to one, but uh 25 plays 263.
SPEAKER_02Beautiful.
SPEAKER_00And Klingon making an argument for uh player of the month in March.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, he's playing really well. Glad to see it.
SPEAKER_02Uh and then Bubba.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, for me, uh I mean, how bad could you possibly be? I guess you could be 0 for 4. Um, I was one for three on this. I had Duke. I don't even think Duke. Duke didn't even cover. I was 0 for 4 on this.
SPEAKER_02No, you've got no, I think you must have lost five.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah. So I was the worst that you could possibly be. So um don't even have to waste another breath on it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. If you're gonna be the best at something, just you know. There you go. Um all right. I think this one, Jeff. Um, I think this one was you here. Some of it's looking good.
SPEAKER_04I went. Yeah, I went, I went uh, you know, in honor of opening, uh, opening, you know, I won't say opening day, but in honor of opening night, I went all Yankees. So Yanks to win by at least uh two runs, um, over seven and a half runs, which again, as you guys said, is looking pretty good. And I got Judge Ann Stanton hitting a home run. Um it's uh 30 to 1, so 25 pace, 776.
SPEAKER_02Well, like your chance if both those guys hit home runs. That seven and a half looks like it's coming in.
SPEAKER_04Yes, sir.
SPEAKER_00Idea.
SPEAKER_02Jay.
SPEAKER_00Let's have some fun with basketball. I got the white guys minus one and a half. I got Houston minus three and a half. I got St. John's. I got St. John's bunny line plus two twenty-five. And I've got UConn minus one and a half. Put that all together. It is 21 to 1, 25 pays 553.
SPEAKER_02Love this one. I like it. Probably be riding that with you there, Jay.
SPEAKER_01Let's go.
SPEAKER_02Bubba, round us out.
SPEAKER_01Alrighty here. We've got uh Yankees on the money line. Tyler, I've got the over in that game tomorrow. I think the pirates score a lot, and I think the Mets um strike out 10 or more times. Um, and then unfortunately, none of that fucking matters because I had Dayton tonight in an NIT against Indiana State or Illinois State, and they fucking lost on the money line. They I mean they got pretty bad. So don't bet NIT on a Wednesday night, I guess. Um, or if you do, take the fucking dog. But uh then I I rounded it out with Houston, confident they're gonna they're gonna win that game on the money lines. I got it minus 160. Um, so I may just put these three in separately or do another parlay, but for Bragg and Rights, I am out. It's not what you want.
SPEAKER_02No, not what you want. Not what you want. And you and you pick an NIT game with all the good basketball going on, you pick a fucking NIT. That's what you kind of get, to be honest with you. It's kind of what you want.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, I yeah, I agree. I agree.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, um, they've got by the way, they got Bert Kreischer out in uh Cubby's Cove in a kayak.
SPEAKER_02No shirt on, I assume.
SPEAKER_01No five odds. Five odds he he flips over.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he's got a shirt, shirt, and vest on. He's he's uh he's life preserved, if you will. Oh, he's got a he's got a corona in his hand now.
SPEAKER_02Oh, sponsor.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so much for him off the boost. Yeah, he's back, baby.
SPEAKER_04You could you could you you could do that on Netflix. You can do that in regular TV.
SPEAKER_00So that's true. That's true.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_00All right. Well, that's gonna do it. That's gonna do it. That was an action-packed, jam-packed, knowledge-packed podcast.
