SPEAKER_01

Welcome to Fresh Catch with RJ and T-Bones Jones. Don't forget to like and subscribe to us wherever you get our content. And remember, stay hungry. Welcome back to Fresh Catch. This is our second episode in our Mexican restaurant series. And we're staying in Soccer, South Carolina. We continue to be on the hunt for fresh ingredients and hidden gems.

SPEAKER_03

Today we are Taceria Guanajuato.

SPEAKER_00

The main thing of this taqueria is the tacos. We got the tacos, homemade corn tortillas, every single one from scratch, and our dishes are with uh quality flavors, uh good ingredients, and fresh everyday. We want everybody to know about a little bit of Mexico flavors.

SPEAKER_01

Apologies for the audio issues. Let's pivot to narration. First up, the mocahete mixto.

SPEAKER_03

There we are in Guanajuato. Glenn, we are at Guanajuato, and I just this is unbelievable, man. I'm what I'm seeing, and then you I see you, I saw you earlier already getting on the ship. I'm gonna do the same thing, man.

SPEAKER_01

Go for it, but I did flash it in this. Oh what is this? Talk to me because this is a presentation.

SPEAKER_03

This is I think one of the best items they have in Guanajuato, by the way. This is Moca Hete.

SPEAKER_01

A moca jete is a cauldron like a mortar and pestle that is heated over a flame, and then it's filled with salsa, vegetables, meats, and cheeses. It's something for everyone.

SPEAKER_03

It has cheese on it, it has um avocado, it has shrimp. Shrimp? I mean whole shrimp. And it has sausage on it, yes. And it's in and they got nopales on them. Nopales is kind of like a green bean. I it's really hard to explain, but you know. But it's not cactus, it's the cactus. This is the second part of this series. I'm loving it. I'm loving it.

SPEAKER_01

So we're doing a three-part series on Mexican restaurants off the beaten path. These two, the first one and this one are both in Sakasti. This place, I'm telling you, is just hiding in plain sight. So here we are, looking at this uh amazing bowl of freshness. How do how do I how do I enter it?

SPEAKER_03

So, you know, people, this is an item that you come with it, your date, your partner, your friend, it'll matter, your family too. You get this and you share the whole thing.

SPEAKER_01

We each used a fork to get some of the delicious food that was in this bowl. Still sizzling.

SPEAKER_03

And yo te dije que vamos a hablar un poquito espanhol porque tenemos audiencia in Spanish. You know? We got people that follow us that are Spanish speaking and and they're good. You know, I'm I'm I'm I want to bring you guys and include all the community of the Grand Strand. This is uh the steak of the Marca Jacket.

SPEAKER_01

I just hooked up with some cheese and some avocado which is hot and melty. The avocado is ready to be destroyed. I love it.

SPEAKER_03

I'm sorry, I just enjoyed my culture. This is amazing.

SPEAKER_01

Hey, oh my god. Lorenzo, one of the owners, said he loves to see people licking their fingers using it because he knows that they love it that much. Homemade corn tortillas.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, tea. This is what you do, look meat, chicken, a little bit avocado here, right? And if you got any cheese, like right here, I got some cheese here, right? Good. Look at this. Look at this. Then you grab it here.

SPEAKER_01

There's so much flavor in the juice in the bottom.

SPEAKER_03

This one cajete has everything in it. Chicken, steak, shrimp, greens, once again. Yeah, I think this is one of the best plays you can order here in Tacaria Guanajuato. This thing to me is a 4.5. This will fuel you up, and you know, like, and then after that, you can go on a walk or you know, around the Grand Strand, get to a bar and you know, get some drinks. But I say for me, the way that they make it, I say I put this a five out of five.

SPEAKER_01

Dang. And I and I don't, I can't it's a top. I you know, I can go with that. I'm gonna stay at 4.5 because I'm learning the ways of the really authentic Mexican food. Yeah. But I agree with Five Five, doesn't that doesn't shock me at all coming from you because there's something in this bowl for everybody.

SPEAKER_00

We try to bring the real flavor, the street food um to our community, and the best way to do it is um with the future. We've been working with the the schools, the local schools like Motoviz, Lori's of all the local schools, and we also participate in the Motoviz um futuro festival.

SPEAKER_03

The next dish that we have here is the Torta Cubana. Torta cubana, I hear the word Cuban. Cuban. So Mexican style torta or Mexican-style torta cubana, because it's a Cuban, right? It's a Cuban sandwich. But we took the name Torta Cubana because this is kind of what they teach us, or what Cubans brought to Mexico, right? And we kind of made it our own weight.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. So this is your twist on the Cuban. Okay, the first thing I noticed is this is a large sandwich, and inside it is made up of many layers of things. Uh, we're gonna eat into it, but I can guarantee you this. I could split that with my wife and kids.

SPEAKER_03

That's muy grande. It's more grande. Yeah, you grab one. Alright. And you know, we're not gonna eat all of it, so we're gonna I'm gonna cut mine on half.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

I'm gonna cut half of the half. Can I use your knife? Yeah, it might take you. Now, the tote cubana has this is ham, chicken, meat, sausage, uh, beans in the bottom, jamon, amon, pollo, garne, salchicha, chorizo, and and then in the bottom it has their ripe free beans. Oh, re-fried beans. Refried rice.

SPEAKER_01

So this is the kitchen sink.

SPEAKER_03

I love it. Uh let's try it.

SPEAKER_01

I took a bite, I turned it upside down, and this bread looks freshly baked.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And it's still warm and beautiful, has a little bit of crunch, just a little crunch to it, like I spent some time on the flat top. I tasted the refried beans. I don't remember that ever before. I tasted the hamon and the re-fried beans, so the saltiness, there's so much going on in here. This sandwich breaks the rules. It's not even fair. Everybody else, they're saying, how do you compete with this? Uh you got a ham and cheese. I got ham and cheese plus everything out. This is called a torta, uh-huh. And it's a sandwich. So if you're looking at the menu at Magic and Place, and you look for the category called torta. And if you don't see it, that's because you're not here. So guanajuato, they've got these. This is the torta cubana, and it is amazing. It's a big sandwich, a big circle. Cut it, use a big knife, and cut this thing into four quarters. Eat a quarter. Midnight, eat a quarter. Tomorrow, when you're sort of nursing yourself back to help, eat a quarter, and then about three o'clock, eat a quarter. This will get you through a big, big weekend.

SPEAKER_03

We do this videos and I'm gonna tell you, we're not biased. We're none of these restaurants, they don't hire us, they don't pay us. We come here because we know that it's gonna be great. And we're trying it, you know, we're trying it for you guys. For the people that are looking, for the people that are traveling um from a different state.

SPEAKER_01

Myrtle Beach is one of those places or the Great Strand where you're kind of 20 minutes from any night. If you're in Polys, you're 20 minutes from Myrtle's Inlet. If you're in Myrtle Beach, you're 20 minutes from Myrtle's Inlet. You're even closer to Sakasty than you know. You can get to Sakasty just as quick, and you can have an authentic meal that will be something you talk about for years to come, something you'll remember. You'll come back.

SPEAKER_03

Definitely.

SPEAKER_01

This torta, it this is a five for me. What is it? I because I I've had it before, it's been a while. I don't remember all 6,000 flavors that I'm experiencing right now. This thing is like a little miracle in a giant vine. I gotta tell you, this Torna Cubana is next level, five. I'm giving it a five. I have I'm giving anything a five.

SPEAKER_03

I don't I don't give a five. You don't give five. I give a lot of things five because I just love food, right? But I'm being honest, like I'm I'm not being vibes because I'm Mexican or like I said, I can go try it because maybe maybe some other Mexican restaurants do have it, but the way that they make it here, it's it's you know, it's a good that's why I'm giving it a five out of five. Yeah, you never do give fives. And that's I'm I'm I'm happy you're liking it.

SPEAKER_01

I love it, and I gotta tell you, let let's take a let's take a sandwich. When you eat a grilled cheese, it doesn't change much. Makes you feel good, it hits home, it's comfort food. It's almost always, if it's cooked within a margin of error, it's almost always good. This changes your life. Yeah. When you eat this sandwich, you have no idea what you're getting yourself into. And after eating three big bites, it's all you can talk about. It's all you can think about. There's flavors in my head that are talking at me, and I'm trying to make it fitness. It's like, don't forget about this on the chicken, don't forget about the cheese. And that it's amazing, it's so good. And I'm telling you, Mexican, Mexican food is diverse and it is fun. This is something you never knew you always needed. This is great, try it. Alright, so for our third and final uh dish, RJ, tell me what what I'm looking at.

SPEAKER_03

This is gorgeous. This is the famous Bombazo and tea. This is one of the traditional items from Guanajuato. Guanajuato is the state of Mexico. One of the states one of the states of Mexico. First off, when you when you go to Guanajuato, right, not the restaurant, but the state, you you're gonna find the kind of the panaderias. Panaderias are where they make the bread fresh. And when you when when the people cook this, they you know, your mom will tell you, hey, go get me, go get me some bread at the panaderia. Meaning, go get me some fresh bread so I can make this amazing cuambasos. They are like if you try it back in the you know in in the home country in Mexico, it's gonna be manguan. But here at Juanajuato's restaurant, they have something similar. They have their own, they made their own, you know, style. They have their own version of it, but it all has the the same ingredients. Uh, it has potato on it, it has chorizo, all right, it has the cheese, the cream cheese too, because this is kind of like cream, like sour cream, like cream crema, and got lettuce. Alright, got that one and then we're gonna split that one in the other half.

SPEAKER_01

Well the bread is like next level. It's soft but crunchy on the outside. There's the blandness. There's the blandness. The potato, which has been cooked in something to give it more flavor. The potato and the meat mixing together, the lettuce, the cheese, and the crema. I don't know how to describe it, but it's like it's simple.

SPEAKER_03

Wow, it is, but it's it's it's a simple because it's only bread, the chorizo, and the potato with the lettuce and cheese, right? It's in a Mexican household, this is simple. Okay, this is something that you cook simple, but look how beautiful something is it's it's a dish that has all the flavors in one single sandwich or or bambasa.

SPEAKER_01

I'm about to ask a question outside looking in. Could this be a breakfast for you?

SPEAKER_03

Yes, yes, I mean because you throw a fried egg next to this. Yes, yes. This is definitely definitely something that you come in uh, you know, it's something that we cook in the mornings, right? Where your mom feel kind of feels a little lazy and has already the chorizo and the potatoes on the side, and it's something real fast, right? And I say this because I'm Mexican, right? And then then you know, it's it's like I I see in it, you know, like kind of kinda you know, I know it. And and you've lived it. Yes.

SPEAKER_01

This this is like last night's leftovers, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And then and then just they send me in get me uh get the fresh get the bread. Get the bread, and then you have a forfeit breakfast.

SPEAKER_01

Man, the bread is is is perfect because this kind of bread doesn't fall apart. This kind of bread doesn't you can the sandwich is still together, yeah. It's still a thing.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, and like I said, uh it's definitely it's it's it's a pombaso that that you know and don't get me wrong. Don't get me wrong. The pombaso is a lot smaller, and I think Guanajuato, Takeria Guanajuato, is making it their way where they're serving you enough for you to fool yourself up. I'm telling you, here in Guanajuato, they take pride of that. They take pride of the service, they take pride of the environment. I can say that Guanajuato is doing something great here. Lorenzo, one of the winners, is doing something great.

SPEAKER_01

Everybody has had a wonderful, beautiful smile, beautiful. Uh to me, everybody's helped us out like we're part of the family. Yes. And that's Lorenzo.

SPEAKER_03

That's Lorenzo. Lorenzo has make has pride of that, and you know, it's proud of that, that he wants all, you know, the service, the codes to make the people, the customers, feel like they're our home, they're welcome, they're like part of their family.

SPEAKER_01

The product, I mean the product is worth the money. Presentation. They have a lot of people in the kitchen making a lot of food and making that family feel homemade, homemade, homemade.

SPEAKER_03

This is definitely a hundred percent authentic. So, what would you give uh say bambasa? Pambaso. Bambaso. Pam. Pambaso. What would you give the pampaso? Uh I put a four and a half out of five. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

I I'll give it a four and a half out of five too. There's nothing I didn't rob about it. Um, I can't imagine how to make it better, but oftentimes I give a little under because I'm not sure if it was my favorite thing I've ever eaten. And you're not used to it. I'm not used to it. But it, I'm telling you, it was special. Everything we've had tonight was special. Yes. And we can't say that about everywhere we go.

SPEAKER_03

We're not gonna say that. No, and like I said, and and I'm gonna repeat this because you know, maybe people out there think, oh, this this guy's, you know, they're gonna pay for it and all that. No, I don't know. No, no, we pay for this meal. We pay for all of this meal, yeah. And and we are here doing it because we love it.

SPEAKER_01

We love food and we love finding uh who's doing food really good, and we want to tell people about it. We're not trying to make a living, we're not social media influencers in the sense that this is how we make a living. No, this is uh just our love of food, our love of we're family. This is this is we're sharing family time together. You need to get in your car and take an adventure to Sakasti, South Carolina, and look for Paceria Guanajuato. I couldn't have said it better, and I certainly couldn't have said it as well. I can't roll my ours or anything. Alright, so this has been an incredible experience. Everything we've had from the first dish, which is to the second dish, and the third dish, pambaso, has been incredible. We've had fresh made chips, these chips are made to order.

SPEAKER_03

You're not gonna find fresh you know, homemade chips anywhere else.

SPEAKER_01

People don't do it like they used to, and then this is strawberry water and fruit punch, fruit punch, and it's not one of these drinks that they pre-buy. They mix this. In fact, it tastes mostly like pulp.

SPEAKER_00

Because we do with real fruits, whenever we run out in something, we just don't give it anything else. And if I have a hundred watermelons, water uses I'm running out. Have more flavors, then we can mix it all. The muscle press will be the watermelon, canelo, mango, pineapple, or chocolate.

SPEAKER_03

Like I said, everything here is fresh, and that's why we are here, because we are fresh cash. Fresh cash. That's a five out of five. I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I'm not. I don't know if it's because it's Mexican, but it's it's that good.

SPEAKER_01

So please, we've had a good night. Uh come on out and visit. Tell them you saw it on Fresh Cash, and and we're gonna give you all the info here.

SPEAKER_03

Don't worry.

SPEAKER_00

Hello, I'm Lorenzo. I'm one of the owners of Taceria Guanajuato, and I'm here with my friends, and we'll see. So, how you guys like it?

SPEAKER_03

Oh my god, it is it was amazing. I love it. I definitely loved it.

SPEAKER_01

It was three of the freshest dishes I've had in a long time, all full of wonderful flavors that I'm gonna be talking about for a long time.

SPEAKER_03

Definitely, and we're definitely coming back, and we are telling the people to come here to Guanajuato and try everything we try to try everything and get on that torta.

SPEAKER_01

Bring a crowd and order some torches.

SPEAKER_00

Torta five out of five. Amazing, for visitors, vent, don't take it to provide the sort of different, then we have tacos, gorditas, empanadas, opes, big dishes.

SPEAKER_03

And then we're gonna taco truck or the truck to Guanajuato for those events.

SPEAKER_00

Claro que sí, for quality events, bodas, bautizos, divorcios, cumpleaños, any type of events, all birthdays, everything.

SPEAKER_01

And like Lorenzo said, uh, this is all about family. See, it's all about family.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we are family, we feel you, we feed you like a family, and don't be shy, come and see us.

SPEAKER_02

This is Takeria Guanajuato, fresh cash. Next time
