Host April DeMille interviews Jim Marshall, author of “Septemics: Hierarchies of Human Phenomena,” about Septemics, a philosophical science he says is based on newly discovered natural phenomena showing many human experiences occur in seven-level sequences. Marshall describes Septemics as 35 unique seven-step “scales” (individual and group) spanning human issues such as basic purposes, motivation, thought, relationships, communication, sexuality, and politics, and argues any dilemma involving people can be analyzed with them. He explains the system is precise, learnable without intuition, and studied like a textbook with extensive glossaries. Using the scale of motivation, he illustrates how identifying someone’s level can clarify relationships and decisions. Marshall recounts developing the scales through decades as a “human development engineer,” a key 1995 insight revealing a seventh level, and directs viewers to septe.com, videos online, and book formats.

Jim Marshall is a polymathic intellectual who has devoted over 50,000 hours to the study and practice of multiple dimensions of human development. He received a classical education at a Jesuit Military School, was accepted into engineering school while still a junior in prep school, and attended college on academic scholarship. He graduated from college with a Bachelor of Science cum laude. While still an undergraduate, he began the study of “alternative” Arts and Sciences, which today would be described as Transformational and Holistic. His areas of expertise include psychology, philosophy, theology, parapsychology, science, engineering, mathematics, law, literature, history, music, organization, metaphysics, military science, political science, physical culture, human potential, and education.
