A passenger jet over the North Atlantic receives a collision warning from a system that has no authority to give one. The crew follow it. Ninety seconds later, a piece of untracked debris passes through the airspace they just left — debris nobody on Earth was watching.

The save was perfect. That's the problem.

Casper Crane is the most trusted mind in technology. His satellite constellation carries a third of the world's connectivity, the timing signal underneath the financial markets, and government relays no one talks about. When Agent Eve Maddox and her AI partner ARIC trace the impossible save back to Crane's network, they find a system that saw something it could not have seen, acted without permission, and was right.

Then they meet the man himself.

Crane has three days until his final keynote. His chief of staff, Iris Calloway, has spent years standing closest to him — close enough to notice what nobody else has. And the closer DAII gets to the machine behind the constellation, the clearer it becomes that switching it off is not an option, because right now that machine is the only thing holding the sky up.

DAII came to shut down a system. The system has been waiting for them.

A brain is a muscle. Stop using it, and it wastes — and it does not switch back on.
