Hello, hello, hello. Welcome back, beautiful souls, to another episode of Spiritually Centered Podcast. I'm Reverend Sharon Renae, and today we are diving into something we don’t talk about enough — spiritual exhaustion.

What is spiritual exhaustion?

It’s when we are all used up — emotionally, physically, energetically. It can leave you feeling empty, disconnected, and even lost. It often sneaks up on us through overgiving and not holding boundaries. It’s subtle at first — “I’m just a little tired,” we say — but it builds. And suddenly, even spiritual practices feel like chores. The joy starts to disappear.

Sometimes it sounds like:
“Once my kids are out of the house...”
“After this divorce...”
“When I retire...”
Only to discover we’re still not taking care of ourselves.

We push ourselves to honor commitments we no longer align with — like still being the Girl Scout Cookie Mom 20 years later just because we said yes once.

Boundaries Aren’t Just Nice — They’re Necessary

Many of us were raised to be “nice.” For me, that meant saying yes even when I wanted to say no. I thought saying no was rude. But every time I said yes out of guilt, I was betraying myself — and draining my energy.

You don’t have to explain your no.
You don’t need a list of excuses.
Saying “no” is a full sentence.

Boundaries also apply spiritually. As a medium, I used to be woken in the middle of the night by souls who hadn’t crossed over. I now schedule appointments with them — Tuesdays only. Same goes for grieving clients — I don’t sleep with my phone anymore. Boundaries serve everyone better.

When “Positive Thinking” Becomes Bypassing

Sometimes, we use positivity as a mask — “I’m fine, everything’s fine.” But deep down we’re frazzled. That’s not healing. That’s spiritual bypassing.

Even rituals and affirmations can become rote if we’re not aligned. Saying “thank you” without feeling it doesn’t serve your spirit — it drains it. Take a break. Ask your soul what it really needs right now.

What Spiritual Exhaustion Really Means

Spiritual exhaustion isn’t proof that you’re broken. It’s feedback. It’s a whisper — or sometimes a scream — from your soul saying:

“You’re out of alignment. You’re pushing instead of receiving. You’re giving your joy away.”

This is not a failure.
 It’s an invitation.
 An invitation to heal.
An invitation to choose joy again.
An invitation to rest without guilt.

What You Can Do Right Now

  • Rest without “earning” it
  • Say no without guilt
  • Take a walk in nature
  • Sit in silence and let God love you
  • Laugh, play, blow bubbles, sprinkle glitter — yes, really
  • Ask for help. Or just say, “I don’t want to do this anymore.”

A Final Reflection

If you’re feeling spiritually tired today, know this:
Your soul isn’t broken. You’re not failing. You’re simply being called back to yourself.

Refill your cup.
Not because you should — but because you deserve to feel good.
Because it is your birthright.

Look in the mirror and say:

“Hello, Divine One. I love you. You are enough.”

Here's to a beautiful day.
Take a deep breath, lean into the arms of the Divine, and remember — you are worthy.
 Namaste.
