SPEAKER_01

Hey everyone, this is Brian O'Neill here in beautiful Florida Keys, and you're listening to the two Deans, Dating, Dread, and Disasters. What I really want to ask you all is when's the last time you had a date in this town?

SPEAKER_00

The polling podcast are the opinions and satire of Dean.

SPEAKER_03

And Dean. And maybe some truth.

SPEAKER_00

And in no way represents the opinions. And lack of satire of anyone else but ourselves.

SPEAKER_03

But the people might be true. The story you're about to hear is true. The names have been changed to protect the innocent.

SPEAKER_06

One, two, three, four.

SPEAKER_03

Hello, Jackie. How you doing?

SPEAKER_05

I'm doing fine. How are you, little Dean? Awake.

SPEAKER_03

I'm Big Dean.

SPEAKER_05

How are you? How are you, Big Dean?

SPEAKER_02

What's going on? Powerful, big and powerful. Almighty powerful Dean.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, good, great.

SPEAKER_02

Pay no attention to a guest.

SPEAKER_05

The man behind the curtain. So I take it you're you're good. You sound good and happy.

SPEAKER_03

I'm good. I've just been recording shit all day, so like I'm ready to get, you know, shot out of a cannon here and be like, Brah let's go.

SPEAKER_05

Okay, good.

SPEAKER_03

Alright. And we've got a guest.

SPEAKER_05

We do. We have a very interesting guest.

SPEAKER_03

We do. We got a guest, and the guest has a dog, and you have a dog. Your dog was sick, and that's not funny, but I'm just, you know, my heart goes out to you.

SPEAKER_05

Thanks. It's been a rough time, actually. Then that's been a rough time. Sick dogs are unacceptable.

SPEAKER_03

You know what though? It might be good for dating. Like if you don't, you gotta one, you gotta built-in excuse. And two, you've you can be like, come over and take care of my dog with me.

SPEAKER_05

Let somebody in my house already and meet my dog before I've even gone on a date with them.

SPEAKER_03

Well, meeting someone's dog is not like meeting their children, right? Because you go to their house and the dogs are jumping up on you. Now, if you go to your house with a woman with children, she's telling the kids like get out of sight, hide, get in the back.

SPEAKER_05

Oh. These are not nice exact dates that you're talking about. We do not have people in the old school.

SPEAKER_03

Old school first dates, you'd be like, ding-dong, I am here.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, you pick them up at the house, and you do get, you know, I guess. Yeah, it's not like I do remember my mom getting mad at me when someone would come to pick me up if they did not come to the door. I do remember that. But that was in the 80s.

SPEAKER_03

I would drive through your house then. I'd be like, you know, I'd be coming through your door.

SPEAKER_05

I think my mom would have scared you.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, we have some actually we have some listener feedback about your mom. We'll have to get to that later.

SPEAKER_05

Okay, that's great. I'm sure she'll be thrilled.

SPEAKER_03

Did she listen to the last episode when we talked about?

SPEAKER_05

She doesn't listen. She's so mad at us. She's like, that dirty man you work with. I am not a dirty man. Always talking about inappropriate stuff. And I said, Well, mom, it's a dating show, so a lot of the things.

SPEAKER_03

If we were appropriate, no one would listen. We're getting a lot of downloads.

SPEAKER_05

So we're getting a lot of downloads because we're inappropriate?

SPEAKER_03

Correct. Oh, be like, like if we were like Adam Carolla, be like, so tell us about the history of data. Fuck that guy.

SPEAKER_05

I think Adam Corolla does okay. I I don't think you should worry about that.

SPEAKER_03

I don't like his tweets, though. Fuck that guy.

SPEAKER_05

I'm just telling you, as a radio guy from their show in the 90s, they're doing he did just fine.

SPEAKER_03

I know, but they know that even though we have a guest, the title of this episode is gonna be Fuck Adam Carolla.

SPEAKER_05

Okay, make that's a good plan. And our guest is actually kind of like a like like a celebrity-ish kind of person.

SPEAKER_03

Does he know Adam Corolla? Well we'll have to answer.

SPEAKER_05

I've met Adam Carolla, but I had does he.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, I'm so sorry. Was he Dick?

SPEAKER_05

Uh no, they weren't mean to me. What was the name of their show? Modern Love or um They had a big him and this the sex guy, Dr. Drew, they had a a radio show about sex in the 90s. I can't remember the name of it. But they they did our morning show once.

SPEAKER_03

I've gotta get I've got a I've my friend Mary Lou Lourdes has this disaster story with.

SPEAKER_05

Did you forget the name of that story? Oh, he's an Adam Carolla disaster story?

SPEAKER_03

No, a Dr. Drew disaster story. I've gotta get her, I gotta get her to tell it because it's an amazing story.

SPEAKER_05

Especially I mean Adam Carolla now, didn't he turn into some political crazy groups?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, he and uh I think he's he must be hanging out with uh with what's his name, Branch. Um the that British actor.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, a British actor.

SPEAKER_03

Brand Russell Brand.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, he's Adam Carolla and Russell Brand, he's like a he's not an actor. Russell Brand is a good thing.

SPEAKER_03

James Woods, they're all they're all in that club.

SPEAKER_05

I do love I'm sad about James Woods.

SPEAKER_03

I I think I think he has a head injury. I feel bad.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

Not that we're saying if you have any political leanings, do you have a head injury? You're allowed to have a.

SPEAKER_03

So maybe James Woods was to come on there about his disaster dating with the underage girls. That was a disaster. That was a disaster for his career. Poor guy.

SPEAKER_05

Poor guy. No, no. We're not.

SPEAKER_03

No, I support the victims here. Like, you know, they're very open about what happened.

SPEAKER_05

I didn't even know the story about James Woods and what you're saying right now. I don't even know that story. That's sad, but um, I was thinking it was sad that he had So I'm gonna write a children's book.

SPEAKER_03

It won't be called James and the Giant Peach. It'll be called James and the Underage Girls. It'll be a bestseller.

SPEAKER_05

You see why my mom doesn't like you? You see that? You see these jokes? You see why she thinks you're bad?

SPEAKER_03

I think she can come on.

SPEAKER_05

My mom would destroy all of us.

SPEAKER_03

That'd be a great show. Does she still have an 18-inch waist?

SPEAKER_05

And oh, that's right. I gave you the picture of her.

SPEAKER_03

She Yeah, it's in the show notes.

SPEAKER_05

She's still adorable, but she is she doesn't look like she did in 1984. No. No, neither do we. Who are you talking about? I'm like, I like Yeah, I know.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. That's true. So uh there's some interesting things. I mean, we're this show's gonna air on June the 14th, but it is like right now, it's June the 4th, and there's some interesting things in the news that were sort of dating related.

SPEAKER_05

Okay, let's hear him.

SPEAKER_03

And the first one is a viral clip, and it's this guy in New York City. He's filming the end of this date. They're strangers to him, right? So they're they're at the door, and he's like filming this? He's in the he's like in a border, and he's he's being all like, he's being all like, yeah, look at this. Wow, all right, she's putting in the key code, right? And uh, she's putting in the key code. What's gonna happen on this date? And then he turns and he walks away, and he's like, oh, he spends $700 on dinner, he doesn't even get invited up, ah, and he's just totally like ragging on this on this guy. And and you know what, it went viral, but here's the deal, right? She did pull him in when he was leaving and gave him a kiss, and uh all of the comments on the video are basically saying that the guy that was filming, he was the douche.

SPEAKER_05

Well, yeah, if you're filming somebody else's date, unless it was a setup, unless people are doing this to get to go viral. But do you think it's you think this was real?

SPEAKER_03

Oh, it was real.

SPEAKER_05

Um so if I were on a date and some man was following behind filming me, I would turn around and go, hey, what is it?

SPEAKER_03

No, he wasn't following. I think he just was hanging out on the corner because it was across the street. It was New York City.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, I see. So he's doing and he's just giving the play-by-play to something he sees.

SPEAKER_03

I'll post the link in the show notes, but if you don't want to wait for that, just go to the New York Post and uh it's uh embarrassing dates goes viral as bystanders mock bachelor's rejection. That's the the head.

SPEAKER_05

How does he know that he spent $700 on the woman and then the woman It's just him being funny?

SPEAKER_03

And how does he know he's a bachelor? Maybe he's a married man.

SPEAKER_05

And maybe she just wasn't that maybe it wasn't date three yet. Maybe they weren't ready yet.

SPEAKER_03

What why does it have to be And who knows there was even a date? That's the weird thing. And what's he supposed to do? So, like this guy, like he wouldn't have mocked them like if the guy just busted in, like the key code goes in and he just busts in the door and they have sex, like that.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, he might have gone home run or touchdown or like something else to make it funny or to trying to make it.

SPEAKER_03

Three-point field goal.

SPEAKER_05

You could go into any restaurant and film a couple eating dinner and you could film a couple having dinner and then put the words in and make it funny. You could be like, She's sick and tired of him. She's had enough. She's trying to let it go. Right? And then he's grabbing his food and then he's ignoring.

SPEAKER_03

You could make it, or you can make their mouths move, and like Mr. Ed be like, so Wilbur, can I come in?

SPEAKER_05

There's gonna be.

SPEAKER_03

Can I come in to your Bordega, Wilbur?

SPEAKER_05

Oh no.

SPEAKER_03

See you at the stable. Be gentle.

unknown

Oh no.

SPEAKER_03

That's terrible.

SPEAKER_05

All right, what's but what's my next video? What's the next thing you want to talk about?

SPEAKER_03

Alright, so this is not going viral. This is an actual news story, and it's uh it happened in Massapua. It's the same uh Long Island town.

SPEAKER_06

Massapequa.

SPEAKER_03

The same Long Island town that the Long Island Lolita, Amy Fisher, and uh Joey Badafusco, that's their town, but Pasamaquadi.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, good.

SPEAKER_03

It's called Hookup Gone Wrong. And the Hookup Gone Wrong is I guess they they knew each other. Right. And I'm not sure if the story, if he invited her over or if she just came over, but it ended up with her, like they were they were gonna go, they're gonna hook up at three in the morning. It ended up It ended up with her stabbing him and killing them.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, that's not funny.

SPEAKER_03

No, it's not funny. It is that is a disaster date. Do you think she'll appear on the show?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, what in 10 to 20? What are you talking about?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, well, we'll be doing this show in 10 to 20.

SPEAKER_05

Well, I think so.

SPEAKER_03

We'll be like, oh, so we remember, I don't remember that mass of Blick was story.

SPEAKER_05

That's not a dating story. That's a forensic file story. That's a ID television story.

SPEAKER_03

But what a disaster. Like, I hope the hookup was I hope the hookup was good at least.

SPEAKER_05

I don't D do you do we even know that they did that? Like, did she like a like the black widow? She like like what?

SPEAKER_03

Well, uh, more to come, as they say. More to come.

SPEAKER_05

Alright, well, you can let us know how that unfolds, but I'm going to let you know it is not funny, and it's it doesn't sound like a real date.

SPEAKER_03

Alright, so alright. Um, so our our correspondent to be.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, I'm not talking to him. I'm not talking to him at all.

SPEAKER_03

Well, he just he just misinterpreted things. So I don't think you were uh making fun of him or you. Alright, so uh we're clearing the air and Brian.

SPEAKER_05

I'm not mad at you, but I'm mad at you now, and I never thought you were a creep. I don't know why you thought I would think you were a creep, and my feelings have been hurt for 24 hours now.

SPEAKER_03

I think this is I think this is making it worse.

SPEAKER_05

It's very possible, but it's too late. Now that he's hurt my feelings, he should be.

SPEAKER_03

He's buying equipment.

SPEAKER_05

He's buying equipment even though he thinks the co-host thinks he's a creep. I don't think that about you.

SPEAKER_03

No, no, he's going to get send us sound bites for he's gonna be like a man on the street in Florida.

SPEAKER_05

Man on the street in the street.

SPEAKER_03

He'll be like, hi everyone, this is this is Brian O'Neill. Tell me about your disaster date. When's the last time you had a date in this town?

SPEAKER_05

When's the last time you had a date in this town? I like it.

SPEAKER_03

Correct.

unknown

I like it.

SPEAKER_03

So he's so I'm not gonna produce it. I'm just going to do what I do with app time. I'm gonna have him send the clips and we're gonna just play the clips over the mic.

SPEAKER_05

A delay in between each one.

SPEAKER_03

So he said he said that he was buying equipment, and I said, that's great. Uh we're probably gonna have your segment for like a minute and a half to two minutes per episode, and he didn't respond to the text, so maybe this maybe he needs his own show.

SPEAKER_05

Or maybe we could spread it out. I mean, a minute and a half is a long action. Think about a commercial, that's a long time. Maybe we could do them like spread them out throughout the show, and it'll be even funnier. And it'll just be like little 15-second clips. Because let's see, if I come up to you and go, hey, tell me about your most disastrous date, how long would your response be?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, um I don't know. They might tell a whole 10-minute story, like our guests.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, but he's supposed to do that.

SPEAKER_03

Well, maybe uh well, he wanted us to have questions, so we can just maybe we can make it so there's like a one word, like what's a deal breaker?

SPEAKER_05

Okay, so he wants us to give him some prompts.

SPEAKER_03

I think so.

SPEAKER_05

Alright, so we'll we'll come up with one more time. How do you feel about Wickers?

SPEAKER_03

I would love it if his first round of questions were asking people when the last time they had a date in this town was.

SPEAKER_05

That would be funny.

SPEAKER_03

That'd be very funny.

SPEAKER_05

It's just if they don't know the show and that it's the opening of our show, then they might not think it's funny. They might just look at him like, what? And then we wouldn't get good responses. So we'll have to work on it.

SPEAKER_03

Alright, so we got a little bit of listener feedback on some emails.

SPEAKER_05

Alright, let's hear it. Happy feedback?

SPEAKER_03

No, well, we can't even make the littlest mistake. Oh Dean, Dean mispronounced Cyril de Bergerac's name.

SPEAKER_05

Oh it's very easy to mispronounce.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, he's wrong. He shouldn't be quoting Shakespeare if he doesn't know the fucking name. Man.

SPEAKER_05

Did they really say that to you? Did somebody really say that? You shouldn't be able to do that.

SPEAKER_03

They said I shouldn't be quoting Shakespeare if I I love that person.

SPEAKER_05

That's hilarious. And I think you should be quoting Shakespeare no matter what. You're absolutely allowed.

SPEAKER_03

And our our last show about the lap dance at the wake. Someone said, I'm going, I'm going to the wrong, either I'm going to the wrong wakes or the wrong people are dying if I'm not getting lap dances.

SPEAKER_05

I I I I still have no words for the lap dances.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, I've heard Irish waist can be out there.

SPEAKER_05

I'm sure. I'm I'm I've heard that as well. Uh I've actually been to one where uh sorry.

SPEAKER_03

It's a celebration of life down there, apparently.

SPEAKER_05

Um I better tell her. Um so yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. So like yeah, you That's how you got me a took me a second to catch up with you, but uh yeah, no, I've never seen a lap dance at a butt you know what I think there is the the fact that they got married, I think that is kind of a a happy ending, so to speak. Yeah?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I'll give you that. I'm gonna give you that one. I'm gonna give you that one. It's a little it's a little funny. And they did, they ended up together forever, and I think you kind of should.

SPEAKER_03

No, no, they got divorced.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, they did divorce. I'm like, I think if you're the kind of person who would give someone a lap dance at a week, and you're the kind of person that would accept a lap dance at a week, then you two, you two are meant to be. I'm sad to hear that they got divorced. I was hoping that my I think most people would go, you know what? Not now.

SPEAKER_03

I was really hoping that I was really hoping that like during after their divorce proceedings in court that there'd be a lap dance. Maybe on the judge. The judge. Alright, last listener feedback. It's oh it was a one-word feedback. You ready? Ready, Jackie's mom is a brickhouse. I guess I saw the picture.

SPEAKER_05

You know what it was like to be a 14-year-old with a mom like that? Oh my god. My mother's 24-year-old boyfriend. I probably told you that before. Her 24-year-old boyfriend was cuter than my 16-year-old boyfriend. And she was 40-something.

SPEAKER_03

Did any of your boyfriends like try the flirt with your mom?

SPEAKER_05

My friends were like, let's go to Jackie's house, being smart asses, of course.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, I've got the opposite one. I had someone that I dated that said that told me my son was hot, but not in a creepy way.

SPEAKER_05

I don't know. If a guy said it about your daughter, you'd call him a creep.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, definitely.

SPEAKER_05

So this person isn't a creep? That's so unfortunate.

SPEAKER_03

No, I thought it was, yeah, not, but of course, I tried to defend myself. I was like, well, uh, yeah, because she was really hot, and I was like, well, he's got my genes. You know, I was trying to like try to trying to wedge in. She's trying to wedge in there.

SPEAKER_05

It's unfair, it's not appropriate. And here's the thing about my mom, just FYI. Whenever they would, they were like, Yeah, your mom's hot, and blah blah blah. They were all also afraid of her.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Because she's scary. She's a scary lady. That's why she can't come on the show, Tim.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. She's not coming on.

unknown

No.

SPEAKER_03

She's not coming on.

SPEAKER_05

We're not gonna let her.

SPEAKER_03

So are we ready for app time? Oh my gosh, I mean. Oh, other listener feedback. The app time theme. You guys, Lok said, you guys really suck on the theme because it's it doesn't. So anyway, I'm I am ready. Here we go.

SPEAKER_05

It worked! Put it back towards the mic. Twizz, twist.

SPEAKER_03

So I'm actually I actually am setting it up a different way, so I won't I won't blow.

SPEAKER_05

All right, so you ready for our right on time.

SPEAKER_03

So let's do real apps versus fake fake apps. I saw this real app that is just like a meetup for single people. They do all these great things like skydiving, hiking, picnicking, and you have to be single. I think that's fun. I think that's an A plus.

SPEAKER_05

I do too. I think because it's building community at the same time, it's getting you out there and making you do something. Because the first time you decide you want to go on a date with someone, like, okay, we've met on the mat, we've matched on the thing, then we've texted all this stuff. Then you have to go, oh, what are we gonna do?

SPEAKER_03

There is one problem.

SPEAKER_05

That's kind of neat. Uh-oh, what's the problem?

SPEAKER_03

The problem is like if you're a serial dater and then like you date different you're dating different people after rock climbing versus after bowling versus after swimming. Like it's just if it's a small community, then you're gonna have all that group stuff and group jealousy.

SPEAKER_05

And that's gonna happen anyways, if you're in a small town.

SPEAKER_03

So it's like yeah.

SPEAKER_05

What's a serial dater? I don't know what that means.

SPEAKER_03

It's someone that really doesn't have relationships. They're just like they're usually on apps and they go out on like 20 dates a month with different people.

SPEAKER_05

Hmm.

SPEAKER_03

So usually they're looking for something rather than a relationship.

SPEAKER_05

They're not they're dating, but not to progress any further. Okay, I got it.

SPEAKER_03

They're dating with their pants there, Jackie. They're dating with their pants.

SPEAKER_05

Heaven forbid, there should be a better name than cereal date.

SPEAKER_03

That could be actually that could be actually our that could be our fake act. Maybe we'll do it.

SPEAKER_05

Well, did you have a fake app for this week? Or did you not have a fake? Okay, let's hear it.

SPEAKER_03

And this came from Tisha. Good idea.

SPEAKER_05

All right, Tisha, let's hear it. Let's make it a bit.

SPEAKER_03

We've heard of the seven-minute dating.

SPEAKER_05

Have I heard of the seven-minute dating?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, seven like seven-minute dates, right?

SPEAKER_05

Speed dating kind of thing.

SPEAKER_03

Speed dating, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Got it.

SPEAKER_03

So this is like an all-day thing. It's it's seven-hour dating. So you're stuck with the person for seven hours, and you have to go to Ikea and eat the meatballs. Like that's part of the date.

SPEAKER_05

I will give their ten out of ten for originality. Because that is absolutely like wow. Your first date is seven hours in. It's almost like people who who fall in love after being in a traumatic event together, kind of thing. Like you're stuck in an elevator and then all that, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Um, you meet at a tour.

SPEAKER_05

I don't know if you're gonna I don't it's unique. And IKEA and the meeting. All right, you know what? I think I think you'll get people who will say, I think people would sign up for that. That's hilarious. It's funny, you can get your shopping done at IKEA, and no one wants to go there more than once a year, anyways. So, like you're there. So you're just like you're getting two things done at once. You're deciding if this person's worth a second date, and you're buying uh uh furniture that's not gonna last you very long, but that's very cheap. You don't want to store more than that, so it kind of takes care of a couple of things at once.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I mean along those lines, right? But this has nothing to do with dating. He doesn't have to tell the story. Tisha's dad would go to Costco with the free samples.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And if he liked the sample, like he put like sunglasses on and get another sample, like he'd be in disguise or put his hat on sideways, and they all knew it was him.

SPEAKER_05

That's very funny. I like it.

SPEAKER_03

Well, he thought he was being clever, but it was very transparent. Like he wasn't fooling anybody.

SPEAKER_05

Like I love Lucy episodes, like tell it was her, got it.

SPEAKER_03

So let's bring on our guests.

SPEAKER_05

Yay! Let's bring on our guests. We made him wait way too long. Dun dun dun dun dun!

SPEAKER_03

So we're gonna be like, can you give us some dating game music? Well, uh, he's a writer and a stand-up comic, and he lives in Central Mountain Time. Let's bring him on, Jade Jessler.

SPEAKER_05

Woo, dunna. I don't know any game show music.

SPEAKER_03

You were doing Rocky!

SPEAKER_05

I don't know game show music. Go ahead, Jade. Introduce yourself.

SPEAKER_02

Hey, Jade.

SPEAKER_05

You gotta unmute.

SPEAKER_01

There I am. Alright, well, hello. Hey. Uh, first of all, uh, the people that might have been at the funeral and getting the lap dance and then they fell in love, that could be just a second funeral. I'm I'm just saying. That whole thing might not have worked out.

SPEAKER_03

Uh I was thinking of it maybe as a Hallmark movie.

SPEAKER_05

Well, yeah, that would make it on there.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, you know, we could do it could follow Magic Mike, you know, it could have a whole theme going on there.

SPEAKER_05

Sounds like they did have a theme like that.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, but the thing is the the Hallmark movie would be called Deadwood.

SPEAKER_05

No, that's not how lab dances work. Um, so also they would not, they would not, they would, they would probably be like, Like when they run out of ideas, because you know they just keep doing the same ones, it would be interesting if they started making like um you know how Cinemax had a Cinemax time, like at night it turned into something else? No, I didn't know anything about that. It could have their racy nighttime movies. That'll get it would open up so many more avenues for them to get new content.

SPEAKER_03

Well, before like porn was really out there, I remember in college looking at this late night cinemax, but he will the my roommate didn't subscribe to it, so it was all like wavy, like the old days. So you'd see like suddenly you'd see a nipple, or like it was very, it's very weird, right? Yes, yes.

SPEAKER_05

Anyway, okay, Jay, tell us about yourself because you sound very interesting.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, um, yeah. So my name's Jay Jesser. I'm a published author, I'm a stand-up comedian, and I'm an actor, and I've done a lot of things. I've got a movie coming out here in a couple weeks that's uh probably gonna be a pretty cool little short film that's coming out, and uh yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So, how would someone like you like have uh have a bad date? Like that sounds like amazing stuff.

SPEAKER_05

How could you have a bad date?

SPEAKER_01

What's that possible? We have so many stories. I let's just put it this way I don't date anymore. That's how that's how bad my stories are. Yeah, I'm done.

SPEAKER_04

You're done forever, ever.

SPEAKER_01

I I don't anticipate changing. I don't I understand this. I understand this.

SPEAKER_05

Interesting. Yeah, because I know somebody who saw you on the TikTok when I said, Hey, I got this person coming on the show. They were like, Hey, beefcake. And I started laughing. And you're saying you are off the market.

SPEAKER_01

I probably sorry, little deans. It it would be it would be uh sad, it would be miraculous if somebody were to come along to change my mind. But also, you know, the reason why I started following you, Jackie, yeah, was because you have that whole ADHD narcissism thing that you talk about a lot. And so I have ADHD, and I ended up hooked up with a narcissist, and I'm about to release a book about that.

SPEAKER_05

I can't wait to read that book, that's gonna be exciting, and um, yeah, we we ADHD people, we love toxic people.

SPEAKER_01

They make us oh yeah, oh god, we love them so much.

SPEAKER_05

We love them.

SPEAKER_03

That's why that's why you're my co-host and Jade is my guest.

SPEAKER_05

Exactly. We're here because we just love Toxic Tim.

SPEAKER_01

Absolutely, yeah. There's nothing like loving somebody so much that you replay every conversation that they have with you a hundred times to make sure you really get it right.

SPEAKER_05

Oh god, rumination is the worst. Yeah, I'm so sorry, but I'm also so glad that we met that way because I never talk about my TikTok on the this show, even though I guess I kind of should, shouldn't I, Tim?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you should.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_01

Well, you're very talking you're very well spoken on TikTok, and I totally recommend that people find you on there because that's what you got.

SPEAKER_05

Thank you so much.

SPEAKER_03

Are you saying I'm not well spoken on the I will put I'll put your TikTok I will put Jackie's Jackie's TikTok link will be in the show notes for everybody.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, thanks. But okay.

SPEAKER_03

All right, so JD, you had some you had some great dates to remember, eh?

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah, yeah. So yeah, I've had some I've had some amazing dates. I think um um the most embarrassing one that I landed on for this show because I've had some I have some dates that are just codenamed certain words. Like I have what is called the howitzer date, which we will not discuss on here, and then I have this one that we're going to discuss on here. Of course, now I'm more interested in the first one.

SPEAKER_05

Now we need to have the other one. You're gonna have to be a repeat on the podcast.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I guess you're gonna have to get me back on it.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, we're gonna have to.

SPEAKER_01

But yeah, so uh this one um uh is a fantastic story because it actually led me into a huge like growth moment in my life. So I gave up drinking because of this date. So I mean I was already kind of teetering on giving up drinking anyway. I was like working towards it, but this was like um this was like the uh nudge over the cliff, so to speak, and I I would definitely describe it that way.

SPEAKER_03

Wow, I gave up drinking because of the handcuffs.

SPEAKER_05

They a lot of people give up drinking that way. It's popular.

SPEAKER_01

Those handcuffs never slowed me down, unfortunately. But uh Wow I did have to deal with them a couple of times.

SPEAKER_05

Wait, before we begin, does this person know that they are the date that that pushed you over the edge?

SPEAKER_01

Uh I I mean, uh yeah, to a point. I don't know. I don't know if they know to the extreme in which like it was a deciding factor in how I behaved. Okay, but like they definitely we stayed in touch after the date. Like we didn't just totally like stop talking to each other in general. But um yeah. So tell us about tell us about this.

SPEAKER_05

Tell us about the girl.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, about the girl or about the date. Which one? The girl?

SPEAKER_05

Well, I think it took you, I think you said there was a long time in between really working the date. You're like, I wanted to go on a date with this person, and you worked for like a year, didn't you?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah. So I'm so I'm incredibly picky, right? So I I have a certain, you know, aesthetic, uh, you know, that that is kind of like a cutoff before I even start talking to anybody. And so I have to make that, and then I have like a certain kind of uh political guideline that I have to align with. Okay. Um I'm a very I'm a very liberal person um in in all aspects of things. Okay.

SPEAKER_05

Um we were worried.

SPEAKER_01

Well, you know, liberals should stick with liberals, conservatives, magazines.

SPEAKER_05

It's much better when you're dating that way.

SPEAKER_01

It makes like well, and and for me, it's just it's more or less like, are you a hypocrite? Like you can have your beliefs all you want, but like if you see one side of the fence doing something and you want to complain about that, and then your side of the fence does it, and you can't complain about that, then I've got a problem with you. For example, hypothetically speaking, the gas prices were really high during, I don't know, the COVID pandemic, and a whole bunch of people put little pictures on every gas pump and said, Hey, I did that, and they were of Joe Biden.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, I'm the one that did it actually.

SPEAKER_01

I'm the I I'll take full responsibility. But but nowadays, if you're with the other guy on there, uh after we're uh in a war, yeah, no, no, he's fine. But uh there's this girl, so you're picky. There's there's an alignment, and then the third thing is is there has to be like a sense of humor, like I uh hopefully a dark sense of humor. Okay, and uh I'm your guy, just right.

SPEAKER_05

No, he's not changing teams.

SPEAKER_01

You do have a little little uh Vin Diesel look to you, buddy. You got you got that little uh Vin Diesel smolder there.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, it's you getting the compliments.

SPEAKER_03

Well checking that the other day, uh someone said, Oh, I had the Travolta thing going on.

SPEAKER_05

I don't know what you're having a week, Jeremy. You are having a week.

SPEAKER_01

But then the then the final thing is just intelligence, and so if if somebody can keep up with me in a conversation, then I'm good to go. And this this gal, uh, we'll call her Angel, she had uh she had it all. All right, uh all everything. And so like we would talk on on each other's, you know, Facebook posts and and you know, we would align on a lot of things, and you know, then we'd start, you know, messaging, and I'm really working. I'm really working on like all I'm pulling out all the wit, all the charm. Got it, and uh I finally, you know, just ask her out and she says no. Wow, what's going on here?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, like doesn't she knowledge accepted?

SPEAKER_01

So, you know, I do some calisthenics and I'm back at it, you know. And uh, you know, I it probably takes me about a year to get her to finally agree to going out with me. It was just no, no, no, no, no, no good reason, okay, nothing. And then finally she's like, okay, fine, we'll go out.

SPEAKER_04

Got it.

SPEAKER_01

And so we do. And there's a ton of chemistry, and we're just having a fantastic time. We're laughing at each other's jokes. She's funny, she's smart, she's beautiful. Everything is there, and uh, we're even kind of like we're even kind of like getting closer to each other on the date, you know, right? Edging up, getting ready to talk to you. Did you ask why she said no to you though? Well, she said no, she said no several times, and no, I didn't really ask, I just kind of looked at it like, well, I'll come back at it in a week and see what she says over.

SPEAKER_04

Persistence worked out, you're having a great date.

SPEAKER_01

We'll see what happens. We'll just start talking about something else, and I'll be like, Are you sure you don't want to go out with me? No, are you sure?

SPEAKER_04

And this is have you really thought about it?

SPEAKER_03

Like, this is how you do it, guys. Like showing up at our place of work or at our house is not the way to do it. Just this is good persistence.

SPEAKER_01

Well, and the idea is, you know, you never you never like just make it all about the date, it was always about the conversation we were having at a time, and then it would be like, Are you sure you don't want to like hang out sometimes? So, anyways, yeah, so we're having a great time. And then at one point, I mean, this is probably a solid like hour and a half, two hours into the date. She leans forward and very gently touches me on the arm to get me to shut up because I talk too much. Okay, and and um I'm like, what? What is it? And she's like, Jay, you do realize that um this isn't our first date, right?

SPEAKER_06

Uh-oh.

SPEAKER_01

What do you talk about? This isn't our first date, and I and I think she's kind of messing with me at this point. And she's like, um, this isn't our first date. And I was like, nah. And she's like, Yeah, about a year and a half ago, we went out and you never called me. Oh, wow.

SPEAKER_05

No wonder she made you wait a year.

SPEAKER_03

So I guess the question is, is it because you dated a lot of women or you just were blacked out?

SPEAKER_01

Well, I mean, that's I mean, it is because I was drunk, it as it turned out, but I but I had no recollection of this date. I had zero recollection of it.

SPEAKER_05

You'd gone to dinner, you had you what did you guys do on your date?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, you don't remember the date. That's the same exact thing that I was thinking. I was like, what did we do on this date? You know, like what happened? Like, I don't remember anything.

SPEAKER_05

Did you smack me in the face?

SPEAKER_01

Right, what and I mean, you guys, you guys, I cannot stress to you how much I was into this girl like to get her to go out with me this this second time.

SPEAKER_03

Like, I was I was like, I mean, I I hope the first date wasn't that you took her for a drive.

SPEAKER_05

Well, oh dear.

SPEAKER_01

Well, so that so I didn't know what the first date was about, and so I I very and she could tell right away that I wasn't acting, like she was like, Wow, you really don't remember right, and I can tell you that would not make me feel good. And I was like, Oh my god, and I was so I was so embarrassed that I couldn't remember going on a date with this girl that I genuinely was into, like genuinely.

SPEAKER_03

Did you think of making something up quick? Like, oh, I got hit in the head about a year ago.

SPEAKER_01

No, there was no making anything up, all my cool was gone. Yeah, I I literally had not that was not a scenario that I had imagined ever occurring. Like, I I did not realize that my memory could be affected like that. No, and so I so I very like you know, trying to pull this current date out of like the awkward moment that was that it was in the way.

SPEAKER_05

No, no, stay with me, stay with me here.

SPEAKER_01

Remember, I mean it was almost like being at a funeral and some guy getting a lap dance. Like it was awkward. Oh my god, and uh so uh I I'm sitting there and I'm like, well, hey, was it at least a nice date? Did we have fun? I'm sorry, I don't remember, but did we have a good time? And she goes, Jade, we had a great weekend. Wow, that's a lot of drinking, that's a lot of time together, and yeah, a lot of time gone. Oh yeah, I can see why that was your last drink.

unknown

Wow.

SPEAKER_01

So, well, I mean, that was like, like I said, that was like the thing that I was like, man, I I can't be drinking again because I I literally was so embarrassed that that you know I had been planning this date that we were on for a year because I was so excited about this girl and unbeknownst.

SPEAKER_03

So subliminally, maybe it was because that date was during the blackout, it was great.

SPEAKER_05

It was so good that you're actually chemically attracted to this human and your body's going, Hey, let's do that again.

SPEAKER_03

So, what did you do on the blackout? Did you like did she spend the she obviously she spent the night?

SPEAKER_01

She spent the weekend, and like she when she's so when she started giving me details about the night, so like back then, um, I actually owned a a a bar and an event center, and so I had a couple of of my own businesses. So I had like my own cab driver that would pretty much drop whatever he was doing when I when I called him. And um so like one of the one of the things that he would do was he would go pick me up a case of of beer, you know, before you couldn't buy alcohol and then take me wherever I needed to go. And so, like when she told me that, you know, uh she remembered the cab driver bringing bringing me beer, I was like, oh shit, this is real. Like she really she's not making this up because like you had your number.

SPEAKER_03

I was there did you guys meet at the event center the first time?

SPEAKER_01

Uh we we met uh no, we met online. We met we met on Facebook. This was before there was Facebook dating. So this was this was a solid 12 years ago, maybe 11 years ago.

SPEAKER_05

Okay, so wait, so you're in this moment in the new date. She tells you this, you're having this realization. What happens?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so all of these memories are flashing back through my head, and I'm just like, I'm like, oh my gosh. I don't know how to. I I even looked at her and asked her, like, I don't know how to respond to this. Oh, you should have said, Was I any good?

SPEAKER_05

Well, I don't think she wouldn't have stayed all weekends, Tim. Right?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I mean I mean he could have kidnapped her, told the cab driver, go away till Monday.

SPEAKER_05

I don't think he would have got the second date.

SPEAKER_03

Listen, Cabbie, don't don't come back for a while.

SPEAKER_05

I don't I don't think she would have gone that way. I don't I don't see it happening, Tim.

SPEAKER_01

Well, we just had we just had this moment where she was really trying to process that that I really didn't remember. Yeah, and uh go on, go yeah, she was trying to process that I I couldn't actually remember, and she was being very, very cool about it because when she was like, Oh, well, that's why you ghosted me. Like, I thought you were just a jerk and didn't, you know, care. And then, but I couldn't handle it.

SPEAKER_03

You actually you actually ghosted her during the date.

SPEAKER_05

I but she didn't know that. This was a ghost. Yeah, and then she's like, Wow, then she's probably spending all this time afterwards going, What was wrong with me? What maybe I wasn't any good. Oh no, it's like that song, but you send her some flowers, you send her something, send her another present.

SPEAKER_01

And and that was and and so then that's what I ended up hyper focusing on is how negative like that impact must have been on her.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Because I genuinely liked her. Oh and then and then I was I was really disappointed in myself to the point where like we ended we ended the current date, right? And I just went home and felt sorry for myself. And then we um we talked as friends after that quite a few times, and most of those conversations started out with me being like, I am so fucking sorry. Like, I can't believe I did that to you. And I think there was actually a point where she was like basically forgiving of the whole situation and kind of like, well, you know what? Like, shit happens, like we could do this, but I I couldn't at that point. Like, I was like embarrassed.

SPEAKER_05

You couldn't date her anymore because of the embarrassment.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, she checked all your boxes, she did, she checked all my boxes and she forgave me. And I still I still could not deal with the shame. I thought about it constantly.

SPEAKER_03

So what so yeah, so why are you not dating now? Hmm. I got right, yeah. Yeah, yeah, it could have been.

SPEAKER_05

I mean, I and then you fell in love with a narcissist.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, so so I I mean, I guess that would be like um fast forward 10 years. So then I went on a huge fitness journey after this. Yeah, I I gave up drinking completely.

SPEAKER_05

Did you go to like were you sober, like going to meetings kind of thing? Sober?

SPEAKER_01

Or just no, no, I've I've never gone to meetings, but um I decided on my 40th birthday, which was 10 years ago, uh, that I wasn't gonna drink 10 years or until my wedding night. And so uh September 5th will be 10 years.

SPEAKER_04

Oh so are you planning on drinking again?

SPEAKER_01

I might. I I don't know.

SPEAKER_03

I might maybe you should ask her out and then drink on the same night.

SPEAKER_01

I've been I've been um I've been I've been having some guilty pleasures watching some some different shows like Lucifer, and every time he has like a really nice bourbon, I'm like Oh yeah, and they do they glam that up a lot in Lucifer.

SPEAKER_05

That's a great idea.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe I do want a bourbon, you know. Well well, Jade, thanks for being on the show.

SPEAKER_05

We don't want to leave it on him having a drink. No, Jade.

SPEAKER_03

We don't want you to how do you want to leave it?

SPEAKER_05

I want I want you to think about going to do some exercise, Jade. Go do some exercise and then you will find love again.

SPEAKER_03

So is Angel married now? Are you still friends?

SPEAKER_01

I don't know. I so I I actually uh because of the narcissist deleted my socials. So the only the only uh social I have. Yeah, yeah. The only social I have left is TikTok. Yeah. Um, and so like uh yeah, I I don't really know how she's doing.

SPEAKER_03

I think you should try. I think you should try to find her.

SPEAKER_05

Does she live in that area? Does she live near you?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, she does.

SPEAKER_05

Oh Angel, if you're listening, he's very nice.

SPEAKER_01

I think she would probably agree with you. Like, I mean, we we got along fine.

SPEAKER_03

I think that I think this is the one that got away. I think that you should try to find her. It'll be like that, it'll be like that movie, then you appear at her door, and then she's like the kid. And we could have them both on the show, and then the husband and kids answer the door, and you're like the flowers droop.

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah. You don't think I'd show up with a boom box?

SPEAKER_04

Show up Light Dawler! Woo!

SPEAKER_01

Show up in a cab. Yeah, right?

SPEAKER_03

Case of beer. So it sounds like sounds like you have some other stories for us for other times.

SPEAKER_05

So we're gonna have to come back.

SPEAKER_01

I got lots. I appreciate you guys having me on.

SPEAKER_05

We appreciate you coming on the show.

SPEAKER_03

So Jade Jesser, check out his books, check out his comedy. Cool stuff.

SPEAKER_05

How does he do how do we do that? J Jessorofficial.com.

SPEAKER_01

Uh no, uh, my books would be on uh uh Balefire Balefirebooks.com. Balefirebooks.

SPEAKER_05

I think Tim can link it on the show notes too.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, I'll link the book.

SPEAKER_05

Perfect.

SPEAKER_01

And there's all sorts of stuff on there about me and what you want to do and what you want to follow and all that kind of stuff. Cool. Thanks, Jade.

SPEAKER_04

Thanks, Jade.

SPEAKER_01

Appreciate it.

SPEAKER_04

Bye.

SPEAKER_03

Bye. Now, this is the time of the show that I tell Jackie that we're still recording, and I'm not gonna do I'm not gonna have to go into production and delete like these side conversations when you thought we weren't recording.

SPEAKER_05

So you don't want me to say something inappropriate and be mad if you if you don't edit it out? Is that what you're saying?

SPEAKER_03

Well, the the t-shirt episode that's going to that came out last week, there was some there were some three-minute sections that I edited out, and and again, we're gonna have a contest. If people know, if people can figure it out, we'll we'll send them a t-shirt and uh pay for their or either that or pay for their Spotify for a month.

SPEAKER_05

You giving out gifts. All right. Sounds good. Today was a fun show.

SPEAKER_03

It was a fun show.

SPEAKER_05

And and I feel like there's something we're forgetting about you that I can't remember what it is right now.

SPEAKER_03

Uh, do are you gonna remember doing the show? I might forget.

SPEAKER_05

I might forget the show.

SPEAKER_03

We'll invite Jade back as a guest and pretend that he wasn't on the show before.

SPEAKER_05

Oh yeah, yeah, we'll be like, This isn't the first time you've been on our show.

SPEAKER_03

No, but he'll say that to us. I know the first time we've been on this show. And we'll be like, Yeah, we spent the weekend together.

SPEAKER_05

Hey, dude, that was a big deal.

SPEAKER_03

That was a big deal.

SPEAKER_05

It would seem an interesting.

SPEAKER_03

Before I quit drinking, I had blackouts and gray outs, but I would always fade in and out. Like it'd be like a checkpoint, like, oh yeah, I'm still with this girl. Like, so I don't I that's one thing that I hear at AA meetings and whatnot, I don't quite understand full blackouts, full 100% blackouts, because I don't think I've ever experienced that. I've had some time lapses. I always think that it's a time machine, but that's about it.

SPEAKER_05

I've actually blacked out, and I I'm I I'm not sober. So it's interesting.

SPEAKER_03

Let's try to have a very special blackout episode that our guest is blacked out during the.

SPEAKER_05

I was in Miami. Things happen there. All right.

SPEAKER_03

It's like, you know, it's like when Blossom had that special episode in the 80s. We can have the this is a very special blackout episode. Very special.

SPEAKER_05

I don't I don't think that's a good plan at all.

SPEAKER_03

Anyway, if you want to be on the show.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, that's right. You gotta email us.

SPEAKER_03

The TWODeans at gmail.com or the Dean and Dawes podcast at gmail.com. Or you can text us through the show now on any of the while you're listening to it. If you listen to it on your phone, you can text us through the show, or you can join the Facebook group. Jade Jade would join the Facebook group, but his somehow someone got their hands on his.

SPEAKER_05

He's not allowed to be on Facebook anymore.

SPEAKER_03

There's no the weird. So you're as good at that as I am with the theme music. Alright, well, we love you. We love we love you. Thanks for listening, thanks for getting if you if you if you if you like the show, tell a friend, and if you didn't, shut the fuck up.

SPEAKER_05

No, that's not that's not nice. That's not nice.
