I know, I know, I know. Well, because we talk over the phone, like not once a week, but sometimes-ish, right? And it's usually like when I've got like 10, 15 minutes as I'm driving to pick up the kids and like, I think of you on that commute and then we're right in middle of something really good. then I'm like, ⁓ the kids are coming out, sorry. Or you're on your way to something, right? It's always like.

to watch, ⁓ let's see, mature women chase dreams, right? Things that we have put on the back burner for a little while, because we've been raising children and doing other things. So it's fun to kind of support your friends doing things that they've wanted to do for a long time.

⁓ thank you. I love that. And you know, the feelings mutual because that's why I was like, all right, I need to have to Lisa come on the podcast because, you know, the premise of the podcast, I mean, it covers a variety of things, but it is that right. It's like living your your yes and life like living a life where you say yes to this, yes to that. And yes, and and and where we're not like denying ourselves things that we want. And we're not denying our loved ones or our dreams. And

Jaleesa Hatchett (01:52)
Yeah.

Yeah.

Claire Darr (01:59)
we get

to have it all. And so that's when I was like, okay, I have to talk to you about like your life, what you do, what you're pursuing, your dreams, because you're living this all the time. Like every time I talk to you, you're telling me about something that you've got going on either with your family or your business or your studies. And so that's what I wanted you to share with people, because I know it will inspire people. I know it will.

Jaleesa Hatchett (02:27)
you're super sweet. ⁓ Yeah, it's kind of crazy to just think way back when when I was in college that I wanted to go to medical school. And then at the time it was just wasn't meant to be. And so here I've come full circle and now I'm

pursuing the functional medicine program, which is really based more on, you know, action steps and learning to take things to keep us healthy where we don't have diseases and we don't need medicine. And it's just, it's so exciting and I love it. And I love talking to friends and I hear things that, are happening in their life or with their children. And immediately, like my brain is already thinking, ⁓ do they take this vitamin? Do they eat this food? Like, it's just kind of cool.

Once you start learning things, how your brain starts working. ⁓ but I definitely feel like between raising children and doing that, like you're busy all the time, ⁓ from sunup to sundown, but it's a good kind of energy. And sometimes it's like, we've talked about this, how when you're doing stuff, you really enjoy. Like time, just the day, I don't know. It's like it stretches and you manage to get it all done. Right.

Claire Darr (03:36)
Yes, I always use the phrase and I said this to someone the other day and they were like, I always say time expands because I I truly think it does when you are doing things that fill you up, that are aligned with your heart and your purpose, they bring you energy. find time, time just continues to expand and you get to do more and more and more. And yes.

Jaleesa Hatchett (03:41)
Yes

It's a busy thing and you're juggling things, but it doesn't feel like a burden, right? Or a slog.

Jaleesa Hatchett (04:08)
Exactly. Exactly. Yeah.

Claire Darr (04:12)
So will you, because you've told me this, and then I was trying to explain this to someone else when I was chatting about you a week or two ago, and I was like, you know what, I'm going to do a disservice. it's better, her story is better coming from her. But you talked about like in college, you

really seriously thought about medical school. And then it's probably ongoing for a while that you've had an interest in holistic things, functional medicine, and, now you are actually studying it and putting it into practice. But what like, how did all of that get started? What was it in you that kind of sparked the interest and then like, how do you pursue it? Because a lot of people get like,

this like little voice, but then they don't pursue it.

Jaleesa Hatchett (05:02)
Yeah. I guess the desire had kind of always been there. had just.

dwindled, you know, over the years. But several years ago, I had a concussion and really my whole body did a reset from that. But even through that, going to see regular medical doctors and just kind of being told like, yeah, it sucks to be in your 40s. Like, it's just going to take a while. You know, it hurts. It just good luck. It takes a while. And I didn't like that answer. And I kept thinking.

Like there has to be things that I can do to speed this along, know, vitamin supplements, eat differently. And that's kind of when I started digging in and learning things. then I switched myself, ⁓ doctors from a regular doctor to a functional medicine doctor, and just seeing that whole approach to how you treat the body, it was like, man, I think this, this was what I wanted to do, not just.

regular medicine, but this. And so, yeah, I'm a year into the program and I'm loving it. It's so, it's just, the body is fascinating and it truly can heal itself when it's, when you know the right information and you know what to do. Your body truly is a miraculous thing.

Claire Darr (06:23)
And you helped me last year. mean, you do. Like you were saying earlier, when a friend says, I've got this going on, all my kids have this going on, like your brain immediately. And I remember we were on the phone last year and I was explaining something that was happening. And you were immediately like, okay, I'm going to send you a picture of this. we still take those supplements. ⁓ And it is so what I found, because you'll have friends say, you should try this, you should try that.

Jaleesa Hatchett (06:39)

But what I've found that's been ⁓ amazing about you is, first of all, it's all stuff that you're truly learning about, right? And the pros and cons of it and how it works and the interactions, it's not just from you just trying it yourself, but you also, you're passionately believing it and you can explain it to people too, know, kind of what it will do, you know, how to do it like that.

Jaleesa Hatchett (06:56)
Yes.

that has been the best thing, because I am influenced very easily.

And so I'll just like, goodbye thing. And then I'm like, I don't know what I'm supposed to do. so is that kind of an extension of you wanting to, what made you decide to actually go pursue studying it versus just kind of, know, continue to use it in your life and for friends and family?

Jaleesa Hatchett (07:46)
Basically what you just said, like I really think that's just how my brain works. Like I really want to know.

why you take vitamin C at 500 milligrams daily. Like what does that do for your body? Like I want to know the reason behind what I'm taking. ⁓ I wanna know like, especially with my children, like with certain things when we eat it, they eat most things I put on their plate, but occasionally they're like, really, broccoli again? I'm like, ⁓ eating broccoli twice a week reduces your chance, your risk for two different cancers, breast cancer and colon cancer. And I'm like,

Hello, like I love having those little you know tidbits of knowledge to tell my children like this is why your mother's feeding you this tonight You're gonna eat it. I don't want you to get cancer like your mother loves you. Please take it. Please eat this ⁓ Yeah, so I like just knowing that kind of information Yeah

I love it. I love it. And you, you have a brand called energetically you, which I love. love everything energy. But tell me about like what you, what your vision for energetically you is. Who

Who would it be for? would, you know, what would someone get from energetically you?

Jaleesa Hatchett (09:15)
Well, really anybody can benefit from the information that we share on energetically you. It's learning tips and tricks and ways to raise your energy. ⁓

From simple things like wearing certain colors of clothes, listening to different music, whether it's like a small Zen kind of music or like mainstream music on the radio, different frequencies and sound do different things in our body and can move stuck energy. so again, I love sharing information that's scientifically proven that it does work and it's free. Like these things don't, don't cost anything. You can download those, those type of

songs on Apple Music, Spotify, like they're available everywhere, iTunes. So I love sharing things that are effective, don't take a lot of time, and are free.

Claire Darr (10:07)
⁓ I learned about the frequency thing last year, and then you started talking about it. And I was like, okay, there's something behind this. And, and if you watch any of the YouTube videos that where the scientists have done experiments like on water on plants on, you know, the tuning things, right? ⁓ It's unbelievably fascinating. And then, and, and, and so I've now figured out frequencies for different things, right? Because this

Jaleesa Hatchett (10:16)
Yeah.

Yes.

I agree.

Claire Darr (10:37)
There's a frequency for, you know, heart health. There's a frequency for ⁓ peace, like in the home. There's a frequency for blood pressure. There's a freak, you know, there's like all of this. So I've got one that I play in the house. That's kind of a, it's like cleanse the house. And we just, I just play it through the speakers in the house. I'm sure, you know, my family would think, my husband calls me, says it's witchcraft sometimes it's really funny. I'm like, no, it's just music.

Jaleesa Hatchett (10:47)
Yes?

Sometimes

it's better if you don't tell them what you're doing, you know, whether it's playing in your house or in your car. It's like, ⁓ this is nice. And I'm like, good. Yeah. Yeah.

Claire Darr (11:11)
it's just nice blinky blink music right but

to actually to that point though like some of the research i've been doing like they they they've traced these beats back like thousands of years and you know and and it was used as communication i know and and ⁓ and the vibration you know before people like had language but i know this thing's like the

Yeah.

the chance that like monks have, know, like kind of that chanting music, that is like the frequency, the beats. there's, mean,

Jaleesa Hatchett (11:47)
Yes. Yes.

Claire Darr (11:49)
they tied it all to something. But also the scary thing I learned is like, there's the bad frequency too, right? In some music.

Jaleesa Hatchett (11:56)
Yes, yes,

yes, yes, which is really crazy. But true, I mean, there are bad people in the world, unfortunately, you know, what to do, do harm for sure.

Claire Darr (12:04)
Yes.

Yeah, I mean, that blew

me away. I can't remember. Anyway, I'm not going to say what it is because I don't want to put out but there is a frequency someone told me about and it's in a lot of kind of rap music or whatever, you know, don't, I'm not saying anything bad about rap music, but it can be in certain music and it can like, do the opposite instead of like calming your body and promoting wellness, it can actually agitate, right?

Jaleesa Hatchett (12:28)
Yeah.

Yeah.

Yes,

same with colors. ⁓ That's why they say like, don't paint your kitchen red. Like most of the time red can bring on, you know, anger, anxiety. Yeah, like all of those things are tied together. Yeah, it's very interesting.

Claire Darr (12:40)
Oh yes, oh talk to me about colors.

And

for me, it's stuff that people knew years ago and used as science, right? Like it was well known and it's like we've forgotten it or buried it or, you know, and it's become like woo or like that's not real, you know? And now I feel like we've got a resurgence back where scientists are proving it out, which is so cool. Well, because

Jaleesa Hatchett (13:00)
Yes! Yes.

It's coming back. Yes, it is.

Yes, I know. It's super exciting. Yeah, I agree.

Claire Darr (13:22)
Because

now we get to have the knowledge of thousands of years of history of what worked, what's not worked. we get to put, mean, this is a beautiful time to be able to put it all together. What are your favorite things?

Jaleesa Hatchett (13:33)
put it all together. I agree.

I definitely like the music. You know, even like positive affirmations, like just saying something over yourself or your children, whether you're saying it out loud with your hand over your heart or you're journaling it, like all of those things, that's positive psychology. I mean, we're really only responsible for about 5 % of our thoughts on our own. The rest of it is happening on a subconscious level. So everything that we can be doing in life to

ingrain more positive thoughts into our subconscious. Like it's beneficial because over time that the feed that's circulating in your head versus, you the bad things.

Claire Darr (14:21)
Oh, I learned this in recent years. I'm learning so much at this stage in life that I wish I'd known. I'm like, oh, how life would have been so different if I'd known this 20, 30 years ago, right? And I'm teaching my kids this now too, which I'm like, okay, you guys are gonna have superpowers that you know this stuff now in life. But yes, so I like to think of all of that because people will have heard and it really didn't resonate with me until I saw visuals of it.

Jaleesa Hatchett (14:27)
Yeah, me too.

Yeah.

Claire Darr (14:49)
but that you can rewire your brain, you know, and that, you know, our brains are like plastic, they say neuroplasticity, and so, you know, they are malleable. It takes time to rewire from, you know, one habit or one way of thinking to something else, but everyone can do it. Like the brain is an amazing thing, like you said. And so I saw these visuals that I was actually teaching my...

Jaleesa Hatchett (14:51)
Yes.

Claire Darr (15:19)
kids this the other day. And it to, to put it in a context, it was, you know, kind of this beautiful country path, like through these fields, but it was like a well worn footpath, right. And then there was like a field of wild flowers just growing like crazy high wild flowers. And it was, you know, and it and the analogy was like, this is kind of a ⁓ path, a habit or whatever that

Jaleesa Hatchett (15:27)
Yeah.

Claire Darr (15:44)
is well worn. You would tend to walk down that because it's easier than walking through the welfare field. Both are beautiful, but it's going to be harder for you to walk through that field. That's what it is to kind of retrain your brain.

Jaleesa Hatchett (15:47)
Right. Yeah.

The better it gets,

Claire Darr (15:57)
But the more you walk through it, the more you walk through it, the path, yes. And then ultimately, the really beautiful picture that I visualed and I saw was that the other path that was well worn actually starts to get overgrown.

because that old pathway that you don't use anymore that may not be serving you because you formed all of these new ones over here doesn't get used as much. So it starts to get overgrown and it would be harder for you to walk down it. And that was like a really cool visual for my kids in just neuroplasticity and that it's why is mom like doing all of this stuff with me and to make all the connections with my mother.

Jaleesa Hatchett (16:22)
Yeah. Yeah. Because mom loves you, right?

Claire Darr (16:44)
⁓ So tell me about ⁓ when you're talking to people and working with people kind of in the field of energy, what you've talked about simple things that you love to do, but what are practices like you've seen, like what's like the coolest thing you've seen happen for someone or what's the coolest thing out there right now? Like I know you're always tracking all of the new kind of modalities and stuff.

Jaleesa Hatchett (17:12)
Yeah,

we have these really cool quizzes that took a lot of time ⁓ to develop. And what I find really fascinating is that everybody that takes it, their results are a little different depending on where your energy is out of a line in your body. When this refers to the seven chakras in your body, the seven energy centers,

Claire Darr (17:30)
Mm-hmm.

Jaleesa Hatchett (17:35)
But everybody that takes it, like they'll, you know, message me or email me and just be like, my gosh, like this is so me. Like, this is so spot on. And then like, you know, they'll get tips and tricks on things to do to shift their energy. And like, it's crazy how quickly when you start implementing new things, how fast your energy can change and you can notice a difference in how you're feeling. ⁓ like I love hearing those kinds of stories. Like, you know, you don't have to.

Claire Darr (18:03)
Mm-hmm.

Jaleesa Hatchett (18:06)
spend a year in therapy or you know to see a shift in how you think and how you feel like there you can see differences very quickly with just some small changes in your daily life. A big one is get outside like we spend so much time inside sitting you know on a phone on a computer like get out in nature just being outside and hearing the birds chirping and just nature in general like it's so good for us.

for our bodies like we need it. You need the vitamin D from the sun. I mean, you need all of it.

Claire Darr (18:37)


the just being, I mean, I, there's trees outside of my office right now. Sometimes I even just stop and look at them and see them moving and, you know, just the way the light hits things, because there is so much ⁓ that our bodies were meant to experience, but, because of the way we live now, you know, where it's, you know, behind the screen or artificial light and indoors a lot that we're just kind of starving ourselves of it.

Jaleesa Hatchett (18:49)
Yes. Yes.

Yes, I 100 % agree. Yep.

really, right? It's and

something I love that you said, and I'm going to put the quiz because I've taken the quiz to it's it's real. It's exactly like you said, you're like, ⁓ this actually really sounds like me. And the good news about the quiz and about when you find out your results, and it was very quick and super easy did not require too much brainpower for me ⁓ is that you do have

Jaleesa Hatchett (19:36)
Right.

the very simple, doable, actionable things that any one of us has access to. It doesn't require a lot of money. It doesn't require adding more. And I think that's what I always find is so important when I'm working with clients, when I'm talking to people, because like we

Jaleesa Hatchett (19:44)
Yes.

Claire Darr (19:59)
said at the beginning, like everyone is so busy and lots of moving pieces. We won't always do the things that we know are good for us if it feels like extra work.

Jaleesa Hatchett (19:59)
Right.

Claire Darr (20:08)
or if it feels hard. so simple little things that you either have in your home or you could already do, it's just knowing what to do is the key and keeping it simple, right? Not thinking you've got to add,

Jaleesa Hatchett (20:10)
That's right.

Claire Darr (20:26)
I'm not gonna go for an hour walk today, because I actually don't have time, but I'll get out and do 10 minutes.

Jaleesa Hatchett (20:32)
And hey, 10 minutes a day is beneficial. Which a lot of people think, you know, it's gotta be this hour long, get super sweaty, they like be beneficial and that's not true. Like even 10 minutes of walking, especially if you're someone that doesn't do anything, 10 minutes is huge. yeah, small things make a big difference.

Claire Darr (20:49)
Right. Yeah, I love it. I love

it. And I found the more I go on little walks in my neighborhood and that I'm kind of aware and I'll listen to music or podcasts or what have you when I'm out and about, but I can still hear the birds. can still, you know, I just started noticing people. I've started noticing, you know, having little conversations with people as I walk by them. And then by the I get home and because I work on my own from

Jaleesa Hatchett (21:04)
Yeah.

Claire Darr (21:18)
behind a computer, it's like, just interacted with the world and it feels good, right?

Jaleesa Hatchett (21:21)
Yes! Yes,

yes, it lifts your spirit. Yeah, it's a hormone.

Claire Darr (21:25)
It does. I love it.

for someone who like you, you are retooling in a lot of ways and have over the past few years from what you did pre-kids and then you had your season of raising kids and now they're getting older and you know, they're in a different season.

Jaleesa Hatchett (21:46)
I have one that graduates

in about a month. Yeah. Yeah. Somebody said the other day it was 40, but then when you count school days, it's like 23 school days left. And you're like, ⁓ okay. That's, yeah, that's 18 years is coming to a close.

Claire Darr (21:50)
No, how many days I remember you gave me a countdown of days like and I was like, ⁓ that doesn't sound like long

And you remember the first day of, I'm gonna cry, I'm gonna cry now. But you remember the first day of kindergarten like boom, like it was yesterday.

Jaleesa Hatchett (22:18)


yes. Yeah, and I can still see your little face, your little braids and your backpack. ⁓ Yeah, there's nothing better than being a parent. Like it's truly a gift. But it is also a season. I mean, you always need your parent and want your parent, but there comes a point where they start living their own life. And so I have to have something for myself too, right? Because I still have a lot of years left ahead of me. So I want to do this.

Claire Darr (22:42)
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

Jaleesa Hatchett (22:48)
like finish this functional medicine thing and be able to help people and interact and think it'll keep me young, keep my brain working, all the things. Yeah.

Claire Darr (22:49)
Mm-hmm.

Right, right,

right. To make sure you have less and less of yourself. So what do you think gave you the courage to ⁓ step into that and to choose that for you?

Jaleesa Hatchett (22:59)
Yes!

⁓ I had some good friends and a support system of people that were like, if you're seriously thinking about it, like you should do it. and even starting, like I knew what was coming with my own children and now both of my kids drive. So, you know, they don't need me to run carpool, which is bittersweet, but it's nice to have other things to fill my day that bring me joy and make me happy and learning to balance them both has been a blessing for sure.

Claire Darr (23:39)
And

I know, I mean, when you say it's about helping people, it truly is for you. I know you've started speaking to various groups and going to various organizations that some of which have been incredibly impactful to the women who were there. What is it you love about that?

Talk to me a little bit about that.

Jaleesa Hatchett (24:08)
That wouldn't

that just truly like makes my heart so happy because it's a lot of times it is women that have Had a lot of struggles and they're starting over through some various organizations where I live that

help support women get back on their feet, but a lot of them, you know, they don't have the resources to see a therapist or have access to things. And so being able to go in and speak about this kind of stuff, energy, and how you can change how you feel just based on music, ⁓ yoga poses, wearing certain clothes, like it just, man, it makes my heart so, so happy.

And this last event we did, I brought in the aura photographer where they get to see even right now, when you feel like you're kind of still not in your best space yet, seeing the colors that they are radiating, ⁓ my gosh, they were amazed. They were crying, they were just so happy. I don't know, just makes you feel so good.

Claire Darr (24:55)
I'm gonna say, yeah.

It inspired hope in them, didn't it?

Jaleesa Hatchett (25:16)
Yes,

yes. Yeah.

Claire Darr (25:19)
to know that no matter what, like they are who they are and their aura and the energy they're giving, that is who they are. ⁓ that was what stuck with me. I love that. I love it. Okay, for people who don't know what an aura photographer is, because I didn't ⁓ until you, so tell me what an aura photographer is.

Jaleesa Hatchett (25:24)
Yeah, that's right. Not there's no circumstances. Yeah.

Okay, it's like it's a very fancy camera. There aren't a ton of them. They are about $20,000 a piece. So there aren't like just a ton floating around. And even like the film that they use, like per picture is expensive, but you're putting your hand on these magnetic, I can't talk magnetic machines that it's kind of capturing your wavelength. And you know, every wavelength is a different color. And so when the picture starts developing,

there's color around you. And they say like on the right side, it's like the energy that's left you, whatever those colors are. And above your head is kind of the space that you're in at the moment. And then on the left is like what's coming in your near future. ⁓ So the last time that we did it, my aura was completely red all the way around me, which is kind of an aura of ⁓ like I was at that day, I was directing and speaking and doing the thing. And that's kind of.

some of the colors, that's what red resonates with. But the time before that, when I did it with like my children, it was like I had yellow above my head and like a lot of different colors. So it was so fascinating just to see like how your energy moves or even like doing one by myself and then doing one with my child, how the picture was different because we each have a different aura. There was a hotel here in Dallas that's been doing a lot of really cool wellness initiatives, like sound therapy and various things like that, like in the pool. I follow them on Instagram, so keep seeing all of their reels. And I saw a reel that they did, they recently did this, and with people coming to do this. And what struck me, because you told me about the reaction from the ladies at the event you did.

And then I saw pictures from this completely different event at this hotel in Dallas. And the pictures and video of the, was all women, it was a women's event. The women in the room having that done was exactly what you described. It was just like excitement and joy and like, oh my goodness, that's me? Wow. You know, and it was, it was really cool. So I, I will any chance I get, give that a go, cause I can't wait to see.

it just feels like the cycle of them going nowhere. It can happen really fast, that you can replenish your energy and then continue to increase it. It's like time expanding, your energy can do that too.
