A classic Aesop's fable brings timeless wisdom about reciprocity and treating others as we wish to be treated. The Fox and the Stork demonstrates that what goes around comes around through a simple tale of dinner invitations gone wrong.

• Fox invites Stork to dinner but serves soup in a shallow dish the Stork cannot eat from
• Stork remains gracious despite leaving hungry from the Fox's trick
• Stork invites Fox for a return dinner and serves food in a narrow-necked jar
• Fox cannot reach the food with his snout, experiencing the same frustration
• Stork delivers the moral: "One bad turn deserves another"
• Aesop's fable demonstrates how treating others poorly often results in similar treatment

Speaker 1:

Hello, are you tired? You will be. I'm bringing to you, for your pleasure, a fable of Aesop. This particular fable is entitled the Fox and the Stork. Yes, yes, another fox fable, let's begin.

Speaker 1:

At one time the fox and the stork were on visiting terms and seemed to be very good friends. So the fox invited the stork to dinner and, for a joke, put nothing before her but some soup in a very shallow dish. This fox, this the fox, could easily lap up, but the stork could only wet the end of her long bill in it and left the meal as hungry as when she began. I'm sorry, said the fox, the soup is not to your liking. Pray, do not apologize, said the stork. Pray, do not apologize, said the stork. I hope you will return this visit and come and dine with me soon.

Speaker 1:

So a day was appointed when the fox should visit the stork, but when they were seated at table, all that was for their dinner was contained in a very long-necked jar with a narrow mouth in which the fox could not insert his snout, snout. So all he could do, all he could manage to do, was to lick the outside of the jar. I will not apologize for the dinner, said the stork. One bad turn deserves another. This has been the Fox and the Stork by Aesop. I hope you understand the lessons that I'm bringing in this series. If you do, obviously you will like them and you will subscribe to this podcast and you will give a glowing review and a high rating and you'll share this amazing content with someone very important to you. Goodbye.
