Hawaii’s spiritual history is bigger than the version most of us inherited, and it gets personal fast. We sit down with Kahu David Blevins of Imiola Church in Waimea to talk about the historic Hawaiian awakening of the 1830s, the legacy of Lorenzo Lyons, and why the gospel’s ripple can still be felt in Hawaii today. Along the way, we tackle hard themes that many people avoid: local anger toward “haole,” the missionary narrative, land, and what changes when you start listening to primary sources and Hawaiian language documentation instead of repeating slogans.

Then the conversation turns into testimony. David shares how a life shaped by protest culture, heavy drinking, and years of suicidal darkness shifted when he walked into a small church and heard the gospel clearly. We talk about discipleship that actually sticks, renewing the mind, and why Christians must be able to explain not just what we believe, but why we believe it, especially when our kids face pressure in school and culture.

We also go deep on Sabbath rest and the biblical feast calendar as practices that train faith and trust in God’s provision, not legalism. We close with a mind bending take on “aloha,” an “aloha hero” list, and a simple object lesson about distraction that lands like a punch. If you care about Hawaii revival history, Imiola Church, Lorenzo Lyons, or building a grounded Christian faith, this one is for you. Subscribe, share this with a friend, and leave a review. What belief do you most need to write your “why” for today?

Welcome To Aloha Alive

SPEAKER_03

Aloha, welcome to Aloha Alive. I'm Ansi Don O'Brien. I'm so privileged today to have a guy who has witnessed some of the historic revivals in the state of Hawaii. No, he was not there in the 1800s, but he is there at Imiola Church. It's Kahu David Blevins, Mahalo and Velina Mai. Welcome, Pastor.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you, sister.

SPEAKER_03

Good to have you. You flew in special from the big, big island.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. To the concrete island.

SPEAKER_03

The concrete jungle. And I'm uh Moku Okeyave. I'm a big island girl from Hilo. In fact, we were just there recently, a couple days ago. My sister grew up in Hawaii, is now in Tennessee. She wanted to show her children the history of revival and the spirit of God moving in the state of Hawaii. We had to come to Imeola Church to make that happen. But tell us about yourself. Who are you and what do you do for God?

SPEAKER_00

Well,

Growing Up Local With Anger

SPEAKER_00

local boy. Um raised on Molokai, so you're about as local as it gets, right?

SPEAKER_03

I love Molokai.

SPEAKER_00

My mom comes from a very big family, the Dudua family. Um that is a big family. Yeah. And then the other side of our family is also the Bush family. So I used to have to tell my kids growing up Molokai, you better check who you're dating.

SPEAKER_03

Hey, that's not even a lie. You know it, David. It's not.

SPEAKER_00

But that's where I grew up. I grew up just your typical local boy, you know. Um one of the things you grew up, as most local guys do grow up, is you know, just that anger and hot and hatred towards howlies. You just it's ingrained in us.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

You know, and so that was who I was before the Lord.

SPEAKER_01

Wow.

SPEAKER_03

Thank you for being point blank about it. Because I think I I had a guest on earlier, we film a lot in one day, and he had started to approach the reverse racism that ex uh that exists in Hawaii, where it's no longer whites are privileged, it's whites are you get beat howle day, right? Yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_00

But the crazy part about all of that, and I don't think a lot of people understand the root of it, if you you strip back everything and you just go, okay, where did this come from? And it goes back to the missionaries.

SPEAKER_01

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

Because right, the the the narrative is oh it was the missionaries who came in and stole all the land, right?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And so in all God's wisdom and humor, he goes, I can put you up in Imeola, this this church that uh has an incredible history behind a bit.

SPEAKER_01

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

And was founded by a howling man, right? Lorenz Alliance.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, one of the originals, the OG.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and and so you know, for me it's an honor and privilege to be there. Um it's like some huge shoes I gotta fill.

SPEAKER_03

But that is a dichotomy or oxymoron of you coming from the Kilhawley culture on Molokai, which kind of still has that to some degree. I just shared with our kids we were fishing off big island pounding opi, and I said, Bruh, you try pound o pi on Molokai, the boats won't even let you land. They will come out with guns and shoot you if you try. And they go, Why, Auntie Don? I said, Because everybody else has tapped out their own aina, now they're trying to go tap out Molokai Aina. You cannot do that. Yeah, so God pulls a trick, he flips the switch on you, he switches the flip, and you are now ministering at Imeola Church, which is a historic Hawaiian church founded by one of the OG missionaries. What year was it founded? Was that in 1836?

SPEAKER_00

1836.

Imiola Church And Lorenzo Lyons

SPEAKER_00

No, not 1836, about 1832. Wow. Yeah, about 1832.

SPEAKER_03

And who is Lorenzo Lyons? You said that I have tremendous respect, but I'm sure there's people from the continent watching, or even from Hawaii, do not know who Lorenzo Lyons is.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, well, Lorenzo Lyons came from Connecticut, like most of the missionaries back in the day. He came on the second wave of missionaries. And Emiola, I mean Waimea itself wasn't actually a targeted area by the missionaries.

SPEAKER_01

Correct.

SPEAKER_00

But what Waimea was supposed to be was actually supposed to be an RR station for the missionaries. Get them out of the the coastline, you know, up in a cool um climate up there.

SPEAKER_01

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

So when Makulayana made his way up there, he saw the Hawaiians and their need for the Lord and the gospel and all of that. And so he decided this is where God's calling me.

SPEAKER_03

And you say Makua Layana, that's in Hawaiian. Makua is a term of respect for parent, yes, father. And then Layana is how the Hawaiians would say Lorenzo. Oh Lyons. Oh, okay, Layana, yes. Um, the missionaries originally landed on the big island on the Kona side, right? Traveled down and across round South Point to Hilo, which is the a main town, a harbor town, and that's where I'm from. But Makua Layana had to hike, walk from Hilo, right? Is this true that he hiked down into Waipeo Valley?

SPEAKER_00

From from Waimea. After he got stationed at Waimea, he would hike over Kohala Mountain and down, also hike down into Puko, which is on the coast, um, and then into Waipeo. So it wasn't just, you know, okay, I'll gonna go hike to Wai um to Hilo or wherever, um Hamakua coast. He strategically planned out where he would go. And when you read his memoirs, it's almost like reading the book of Acts.

SPEAKER_01

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

Because the Hawaiians would bring out the dying, the sick, and he would pray, and people would get healed. And so uh on the Hilo side, you had Titus Coin, right? Highly church and all of that.

SPEAKER_03

And that was a huge revival.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, well, it wasn't a revival. Revival, people get confused with that because revival means you bring something back to life.

SPEAKER_01

You're right.

SPEAKER_00

What happened here was an awakening, big difference because there was no gospel, there was no Yeshua, there was no Jesus, right? And the Hawaiian people were awakened to the truth of the true and living God. And and so I think I shared a little bit of the story when you and your sister were here on there. And what happened there was so incredible. But it happened because of brokenness. Macaulayana had to be broken, right? Shared the story of how he lost his his five-month-old son. Um, and then not much, you know, a few months after that, um, his wife Lucy dies.

SPEAKER_01

And that was in Waimea.

SPEAKER_00

Well, he lost his five-month-old son in Waimeo, right? So you have this holy couple, right? No family, right? Ministering, pouring out their hearts for the people there. They have to now bury their five-month-old son, right? And no family to to grieve with and all of that, but then Lucy finds out her sister married one of the missionaries on the last company, the eighth company coming in. And that was in um 1836 when they finally made it here. And so they come here and um like the missionaries would do when the the companies would come in, all the missionaries who come from the other islands have their conferences and things. Well, they get down here and on a Wednesday, and by Friday, Lucy dies.

unknown

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

And so Lorenzo is, I mean, obviously devastated, right? And so he had his older son with him, and they have to get back on the boat and come back to Waimea to that little about the size of this room house. That's what he lived in for 54 years.

SPEAKER_03

I took a picture of it, we're gonna have it on screen. If he lived there for 54 years in a tiny little what basically we would consider a studio today.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. No, that's a good one. I never thought about putting it that way. It's that's small. And and so in his part of his recorded prayer, we have it in his memoirs, and he said, Lord, now my plans all what do I do? They're all broken. And that's when God said, Okay, now we're gonna do some cool stuff. And within a year after all of that, there's about a thousand people at Emiolo Church. And then the following year, another thousand is added. And at the same time, God's moving with um Titus in Hilo, where eventually they ended up with somewhere between eight to ten thousand people. So, hoya megachurches long before megachurches was yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Holy, I never even thought about that.

SPEAKER_00

And and so, but the cool part about Titus and Lorenzo, and somehow they communicated, I'm not 100% sure how they did it, but they wouldn't know when to start hiking up the Hamakua coast to meet. And they wouldn't meet halfway, probably Lapah or somewhere like that, and just have fellowship.

SPEAKER_03

Praise God. Two solid men. So a friend, Sherman's a friend, and it can get lonesome. I know in our church we pray for our missionaries out in the field even today, because they can be the only Christian in that nation or the only Christian in that area. You're saying that was back in the 1800s

Awakening Numbers And Island Ripple Effects

SPEAKER_03

with missionary Titus Cohn and missionary Lorenzo Lyons.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and I think I shared also with you that I I just learned this I don't know a few years ago, that Father Damien, right, on Molokai with Kalau Papa and Leprosy and all of that, that Father Damien spent some time in Waimea as the Catholic priest there. And they kind of butted heads when he when um Father Damien came to Wimea, the whole Catholic Protestant thing was going on, right?

SPEAKER_01

Sure.

SPEAKER_00

But they actually became allies, and the common denominator for them was leprosy.

SPEAKER_03

Wow. And compassion for those with Hansen's disease. Yeah. Wow.

SPEAKER_00

And if there was a movie uh made uh in Kalau Papua back in the 90s, um and my mom's in it, they brought all kinds of extras from on top, brought them down, and my kids when they was young. And if you watched that movie, it's pretty accurate that Father Damien was trying to get support, financial support from the Catholic Church here in Hawaii, and they wouldn't they wouldn't support him. It was the Protestants.

SPEAKER_03

What?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that supported Father Damien. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

The Protestants supported the Catholic mission in Kalau Papa leper colony. That's amazing. And you're saying that united Titus Cohn, the missionary of Hilo, with no, that was Lorenzo Lyons. I'm sorry, yes, Lorenzo Lyons of Waimea, the missionary in Waimea, with Father Damien of Kalau Papa.

SPEAKER_00

Before he left Waimea, before Father Damien left Waimea and went to Molokai, they became allies. How much support McColly Anna gave, we don't know, but as far as was the Protestant step in. And if you watch the movie, there's there's that like almost a side story to it, where he comes back here to Oahu and tries to get support and they don't want to support him.

SPEAKER_03

That's wow. Yeah, that's shocking.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And a big part of our history. I mean, we have the right in front of our state capitol to this day on Veritania Street, right? The square building, as we call it, is Father Damien's statue. And on the front of the house, as I call it, um facing the ocean side, that's the mountain side, is Father Damien. The front side of the house is Queen Lili Uokalani, and same thing, very Christian, right? Both of them, and giving their lives for the people of Hawaii. This is huge. So this awakening that happened in Waimea, and you had pointed out when we visited with you, my sister and her kids at Imiola this past weekend, that that was after, I think it was it 20 years that the missionaries had been in the state of Hawaii or kingdom of Hawaii at that point.

SPEAKER_00

At that time, and there was they estimated somewhere between 12 to 1,500 believers in the whole kingdom within that 20-year period. But um, what was it, 1836 is when you know, technically they say the awakening began.

SPEAKER_05

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

And like I said earlier, you know, within a year, there was a thousand people. Within two years, at Imeola, there's two thousand people. And if you go there, if you visit Imeola, and you look, you know, the church is pretty small. We have maybe about 140 people on a Sunday in there. But if you look at the stone wall, and you that was the size of the second chapel.

SPEAKER_01

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

That whole area in there.

SPEAKER_01

Nice.

SPEAKER_00

You know, if you go down to Kwaihall, right, how big the chapel is. If you go to the other islands and you look at some of these churches, they're just as big.

SPEAKER_01

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

They're just as big. Molokai and Kaluah area, the walls are still there. This church is massive.

SPEAKER_03

Right? We were talking about that, and you said some of the Christian history of Molokai. I had never heard that, and I have lived on Molokai for about a year recently. Um, and you were sharing because all I hear is some of the more secular history of Hawaii'i about oh, that's the most haw is on that island. And if you see there's a triangle and you can see the fireballs, you can see the night marchers, which we know is all demonic activity. Um, but you were sharing some of the Christian side of that.

SPEAKER_00

Well, that's see, that's that's for me, that's the ironic part, right? Because I was the local boy beating up all these around with my friends who's doing all this kind of crazy stuff. But the the the root of all that is rooted in what the missionaries did. So, like you said earlier, God flipped the script on me and he actually had me understand what really was going on here.

Revival Versus Awakening Explained

SPEAKER_00

And I can remember, you know, growing up there and seeing Kalua, but I had nothing to do with the Lord back then. I was just this crazy off-the-rails guy. And then if you went down into Halawa Valley, because Halava Valley at one time before the tidal wave, that was the central part of Mokai, not Kalankakai. And there was a church down there just as big.

unknown

What?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and then that eventually burned down.

SPEAKER_01

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

And so, so yeah, you know, God was moving not just in Hilo or Waimea. He when the awakening came, it came across the whole kingdom.

SPEAKER_03

Well, and that's the spirit of God, he cannot be contained. The scripture says in the Old Testament talks about the first day they opened the temple, right? Solomon and they were dedicating it. The priests and all of the people had to run out the temple because the train, just the hem of God's glory, entered, and everybody had to get out. So God cannot be contained. The light comes in, as John 1 5 says, the light shines and the darkness cannot overcome it, right? It's it's going to spill out. Yeah. So that makes sense that the Great Awakening comes upon Hawaii and it's manifesting on multiple islands, multiple places. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And you know, people ask the question all the time, you know, why? Why does God do this? You know, because you can go back in history and study revival and awakenings, right? And it seems like God just goes and it just goes crazy for a while, then it just right. What happened here? I had a book, and I get a bad habit. I know this library of books, and I loan them out and never get them back. But the title of the book was The Ten Greatest Revivals Since the Book of Acts. And Hawaii was included in that.

SPEAKER_03

Not the 10 greatest revivals since the book of Acts. And even I have one right here, the Book of Acts in my Bible. And you're saying Hawaii made the list of top ten.

unknown

Yep.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, Yeshua.

SPEAKER_00

And so people ask that question, you know, how come? Why does God just, you know, all of a sudden just explodes, you know?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And what happens is people forget, they think that that's it, that's the revival, awakening, right? Those those years, a year, whatever, right? You know, like we were seeing a few years ago in um, where was that on the East Coast, right?

SPEAKER_03

Right, on the continent, yes.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. And what people don't recognize is yes, you have that initial, right? But I'm still reaping from that at Imeola. Okay, come on. I'm still reaping, excuse me. I'm still reaping because we have family that can trace their lineage to the days of Makulayana in that.

SPEAKER_03

Wow, really? You're right though. You're right. Yeah. So it's not like evaporated and go to nothing.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly.

SPEAKER_03

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

But because we're humans, right? We're looking for the big fireworks, right?

SPEAKER_03

Right, right.

SPEAKER_00

And God is saying, Yeah, I'll give you a booster shot here.

SPEAKER_03

Well, two things. Uh I love that you just pointed that out. What are the I was gonna ask you next, what is the remaining impacts of that ministry today of both, you know, Titus Cohn and Lorenzo Lines, and of course, there's other missionaries and the forefathers and the four mothers of faith. But a second point that I want to make as I come back to that question for us is your point you just made. Sometimes there's an explosion. It's like fire, right? There's an explosion. Even here on the big island, we have episodes happening. So the volcano goes off and it's huge, and there are fountains of lava a thousand plus feet now. And then within about, you know, a day or two, it dies down and then it's out, right? It's dormant for a while. And then she comes back and it's episode again, right? And I say she, the volcano, I am not referencing a false god or a demigod, just to be absolutely clear for everyone. So the volcano comes back and it gets huge again. And that's what you're pointing out. The wildfire comes, it's big. Most of us are attracted to that. I had Pastor Jonathan Steper, my senior pastor, on an earlier episode, and I asked him a question as a Hilo girl would, right? Hilo, we keep them simple as one pimple, bruh. You gotta be big, bold, and beautiful. And I asked him, I said, What is the major move of God you've seen in the state of Hawaii? Because you were here in the 50s and 60s with your dad as the senior pastor. You came back as our pastor for the last 15 years. What's the major move of God? And he gently corrected me as a good shepherd does, and he goes, Don, I don't know that it's a major move of God or a massive miracle, but it's in the gentle whisper of the wind that God often moves. It's in the humble, regular, everyday ministry that things happen. And so back to the question I was gonna ask you what is the remaining impact of those great awakenings in the state of Hawaii?

SPEAKER_00

I mean, obviously, the most obvious lasting thing is the gospel itself. If you know, it had to have got into here, gotten here to Hawaii somehow, sometime, right? And that's for me as a Bible teacher, that's the biggest lasting effect. Because it's still, right? It's still doing its thing.

SPEAKER_03

It is still going.

SPEAKER_00

And it took the dedication of men like Titus Coyne, you know, the Binghams and others, right? Lorenzo Lyons to to really truly sacrifice you know so that it would last this long.

SPEAKER_03

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Think about it this way. I I I I I challenge people with this all the time. Why are we sitting here in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, right? Talking about stuff like this in the year 2026. Why are we doing this right now? How did this come about? Yeshua took eleven Jewish men and made disciples. And according to the book of Acts, they turned the world upside down. Amen. See? And that's the lasting effect of those days. It's still going.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we had that push, but it's still going.

SPEAKER_03

It's still reverberating from the Sea of Galilee where Jesus and his disciples started, and it went out, you know, to Judea, Samaria, the outer regions, as is said in the Bible, and then it started going to Asia Minor, right, through Paul and the other apostles who came along after Jesus and his disciples. But then you it went so far out, if you think about the ripple of the pond, right? That it went all the way across the Pacific Ocean. We are exactly halfway around the world from the nation of Israel, you find Hawaii. And then it reverberates back. Those ripples go back because the gospel of God continues to reverberate and ripple through infinity and through all space, through space and time. That's good, Pastor. And to your point, I'm still flashing back on some of the cool things you said. If we had a church of 2,000 in Waimea or any in Honolulu, in any Tucson, Arizona, in Massachusetts, that would be a mega church to this day. We had it back in the day. And I love that you said, you know, part of the reverse racism against Hawley or Caucasians here in the state of Hawaii started because some of the second generation, right? So the missionaries came with greatness and goodness in their hearts for God. It was a lot of their kids who started stealing the land, taking advantage of the aloha of the Hawaiians. Let us be forthright and honest. But I always look at these people, these what I sometimes say, the Hawaiians who are you know protesting and whatnot, and I go, Why are you so mad at the missionaries? First of all, they brought the word of God. Second of all, I do get that they stole the land, but um, the first missionary was. Hawaiian wasn't it?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Henry Opukaya.

SPEAKER_03

Henry Opukaha was Hawaiian. Went and gave his life there on the east coast. And because of his life story, it captured the attention of other people on the east coast. They raised enough funds. And then now you're saying there was a company A and a company B that's the same.

SPEAKER_00

There were actually eight companies that came.

SPEAKER_03

Wow. Okay, I didn't know that. And then they had to sail from the East Coast. There weren't like these 747s. You couldn't catch a Delta flight. You couldn't do, oh, let's just go over and see Sea Tac Seattle and then we'll skip to Honolulu. No, it was sailing on

Rechecking The Missionary Narrative

SPEAKER_03

these ships, and that's what Pastor is referencing with when um Makua Layana's wife died and the son died after a long sailing to get here. And so this all started back in that time, but it interests me that the first missionary was Brown. He was a Hawaiian.

SPEAKER_00

I think this is what I suggest for you guys out there listening to this, if you're in Hawaii, go spend a day or a few hours at least on at the mission house.

SPEAKER_01

Come on.

SPEAKER_00

And go read, because this is coming from a guy who hated Howlies, even though if you look my leg up all as howli as it comes. Okay, so my pastor used to tease me, he's go, what, when you're mad with the howlies, you beat up yourself. But my my suggestion is go just go down there and read some history, you know, and and and and understand what really happened here because a lot of what we hear is really it's not accurate. Yeah, we just simply put it that way. Um I've come across a gentleman, his name is Dr. Ron Williams. You might have heard of him.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Um he used to be up at the university, um, he's a professor up there. Howley is how he comes, um, fluent Hawaiian, he has PhD in Hawaiian language and Hawaiian studies. And he goes around, pastors ask him to come speak, because he has a very good insight of what transpired back then. And he actually works in the state archives now.

SPEAKER_01

Oh wow.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. And he brings a whole nother narrative because you either gonna be brought up on a narrative that I'm brought up, maybe even you brought up, maybe even you, Clint, were brought up on. The you know, the missionaries, they stole all the land narrative, right? And this guy will bring the accurate narrative because he's in the Hawaiian language archives.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Which is right next to the palace, right, and the state capitol.

SPEAKER_00

But he's reading everything in Hawaiian, not the English archives.

SPEAKER_03

And there was a lot of documentation because we were at one point at the Hawaiians were one of the most literate people with over 90 newspapers, right, in both Hawaiian and English. So there's a lot of documentation for Mr. Williams.

SPEAKER_00

Well, the the there's stuff from like newspaper articles, letters from from Kahoos to the Ali during that time period. And the Ali and the people wanted the missionaries here.

SPEAKER_01

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

That's coming from our Kupuna. Yeah. So if we went talk about, hey, listen to our kupuna, okay. Well, maybe we should listen to that part of our kupunas also, right?

SPEAKER_03

The factual documented words of our kupuna, exactly. Of our Ali, of the Mo'i, the royalty, right? So not just the Alihi chiefs, but the the actual royal family, who in most part were Christians, from Queen Queenanui, the Ka'hu Manu, and Keopoolani, all the way to the very last queen who sacrificed her throne as a Christian, Queen Lili Uokalani. That's beautiful. Thank you for that. And there's history that we're missing, as you said, Kahu, to go and do your research and your due diligence. But even when I take people down, I took my senior pastor's wife, Trisha Steeper, to the corner of Kawaia Ha'o is on King Street. And as I learned from a historian, King Street was one of the first streets because the kings would ride their horses down to the mission houses. And then later, that added next to the mission houses is Kawaia Hao Church, the first church on this island, not the first church in Hawaii. That's Moku Okeave, my island, our island. But they would run their horses down so much it paved a path, and that became Queen Queen Street. I'm sorry, King Street. And then not to be left out was the Queen's, right? So that's right parallel next door to King Street, is Queen Street. Uh, there's so much history because we stood there and I'm telling her this history, and she was stunned. She's about to leave, they've now retired. And she said, I didn't know that King Street actually had a meaning. And I said, Here in the state of Hawaii, Hawaiians always have Kauna. There's a deeper meaning, not just the surface name, but there's kauna, the weight of meaning that comes with our culture, and a lot of it is Christian.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Straight up. And but but doesn't that make perfect sense though that the enemy would keep this hidden?

SPEAKER_03

Come on. There we go. Right. To steal, kill, and destroy, to hide, to camouflage, and to get people to forget. But as you know, as a Molokaian, as I know as a Polynesian and as people who live in Hawaii, it's the oral culture of our people, right? It's the spoken word, it's the history when we continue to repeat what is the truth so it's not forgotten.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly. Exactly. And and digging up truth because a lot of times people just get hung up on just that one narrative. That's that they think, okay, I know it. I get it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And for me, that's how the enemy kept me in bondage. Because that's the narrative. They my enemies because they stole our land. They did all of this to us, right? So you locked into that. It wasn't till after when I was born again that you sure began to go, no, you need to look and really understand. So I I I started gravitating to guys like um um Ron Williams. You should find him, you should have him on your shoulder.

SPEAKER_03

I really am interested now that you said that name. We're gonna track that down. Thank you.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I can't help you get get that information. Actually, my sister night this guy when he came. Awesome. Yeah, so he gotta call me alcohol. But but we do, we get locked in and we think we we know it all. Right? And yet there's so much stuff hidden, and I believe uh um purposely hidden now. Yes, because I was able to discover through through the Lord how to look for this stuff, and so so that's it kind of with that, you know, immediately for me, like, okay, I was raised because I was running hard sovereignty before I got saved.

SPEAKER_01

I know.

SPEAKER_00

And so, but then after I'm like, okay, this is what I live, this is what I know. Now I'm getting over here. What is this all about? And then I began to look like, whoa, wait a minute.

SPEAKER_03

So on that note, Pastor, and hold

Sovereignty To Salvation Testimony

SPEAKER_03

that thought because we're gonna transition into that with your personal story. Um, uh that's kind of how I knew you. And growing up as a girl in Hawaii, and of course Big Island, but I would hear news about Uncle Walter Riddy, right? Which is Molokai. If you don't know, massive protests, and it was to stop development on um in on Molokai, but even the state of Hawaii, it wasn't just for Molokai. I think that Uncle Walter's heart. I I honestly believe there's goodness to that because I don't want to live here in the concrete jungle. I don't want Hawaii to be just another tourist destination, vacation, location, and all about the money. But um, there's goodness to it, but then it starts to get a bit convoluted, right? And you were running with that crowd. You were there.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, my my mentor's was Colette Machado, Emmet O'Looley.

SPEAKER_03

I know Auntie Colette, right? Yeah, and she was part of our state government here, but again, another hardcore person from Moluke.

SPEAKER_00

But she went home to the Lord.

SPEAKER_03

Amen. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you. I know her well and I love her dearly, and I can't wait to see her again in heaven. But can you tell us how did you come to know the Lord then? Because you were running hard for the other side.

SPEAKER_00

The nature of evil is to devour itself. That's what Yeshua meant in John 1010 when he said the thief only comes to kill Sin and Deshua. Evil eventually devours itself. That's just the nature of it.

SPEAKER_01

Amen. Thank you.

SPEAKER_00

So being brought up in this that environment, it creates a lot of anger, a lot of hatred. And eventually what happened with me, and I see it with a lot of local bronze, is that stuff starts turning it starts turning on you where I became very suicidal for years. I lived with suicide. I mean, it was was some dark days. Um and I got to the point where I lost two families. Um before I came to the law just because of my anger, my just when I say off the rails, I was off the rails. My life consisted of drinking, fishing, or surfing. That was it, even though I had family. And that darkness just kept creeping in, but you have no understanding, right? Because there's nobody to to figure this out, and you're just trying to survive and live.

SPEAKER_01

And and you weren't raised Christian, so you don't know that there's nothing to compare the darkness.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, exactly. You just begin to go, this is life, right? This is what it is. It's painful, it hurts, and all of this stuff, and then you begin to go, this pain is so much that the only way I can end this pain is I gotta check out. Right. Right.

SPEAKER_01

Unfortunately.

SPEAKER_00

And so some really bad scenes. Uh you know, hindsight is 2020, right? So after I came to know the Lord, uh I began to understand, like, wow, the darkness was really turning it up. It's like they knew I was getting closer to giving my life to the Lord or something. Because I I mean the the one of the worst, let me just show you the story real quick. I was at my house, um, sitting there with my gun on my lap all night and just going, I'm out, I'm done. And I looked down a three-bedroom house and a hallway with a mirror at the end on the door, and there was no hall. There was just this dark tunnel. And somebody had already shared with me Yvonne.

SPEAKER_03

Auntie Yvonne Frio from Molucci.

SPEAKER_00

Yvonne shared with me a few days before that, because her her daughter and I broke up, she took my son. That was my second family, I lost. And so Yvonne was, you know, and Yvonne loves the Lord, right? She loves the Lord.

SPEAKER_01

God bless that woman.

SPEAKER_00

So she told me, she said, David, you gotta go talk to this guy, Waxer. Oh, wow. I'm like, who's that guy? You gotta know him. He's surf. I don't know every surf on this island. I don't know this guy. And he was on the island for about a year already.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, and he and I never cross paths, which is kind of unreal because we both surf.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly. Molokai is small already.

SPEAKER_03

You have to surf completely 7,000 people on that island, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, maybe 200 surf, right? Maybe, if not. And I believe God kept us separated because I had so much anger. And he was the kind of guy I hated the most.

SPEAKER_02

Right, the blonde, the holy guy.

SPEAKER_00

And so after that episode in my house, you know, the words of Ivan came back to me and you better go talk to this guy. So I showed up in church the following Sunday, reeking alcohol, I was all hung over. And the church was small at that time, wax was there just for a year, and there was about maybe 25 people there. And it was in a Pumaria farm, I swear the the church was. The Wheelers. The Wheelers. Yeah, the Wheelers, yeah. Yeah. And so went and you know, the old saying, right, the church will fall out, right? If you go in, church will fall out. And you know, I came back, I think it was two Sundays later, sober and everything. And the Holy Spirit, this is this this is what you need.

SPEAKER_01

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

And then so waxed me on an altar call, and he said, Anybody who, you know, wants to give their life to the Lord, just look up, you know, open your eyes, look up. And brother was staring and me right in the face. And then in after he took me in the back room. And he prayed with me, explained the gospel really clear, and just cry like I'm baby. Amen. You know, thank you. And I was like, okay, I'm all in, whatever this is, I'm all in, you know.

SPEAKER_03

Wow. So there you go from being Mr. Angry, an extreme Hawaiian protester, hate, kill howlies, to you're crying in a back room in a church with a howli pastor. Yeah. On your territory in Molokai, who was there for all of maybe a year.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

That's amazing, Pastor, because now, you know, how many years later you're pastoring a church.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Yeah, and then and how that came about was the fact that Waxer saw God's hand on me.

SPEAKER_01

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

Um, as far as pastoring. Uh I I shouldn't say pastoring. I I'm not the best pastor. I'm gonna be honest. I just not I tell a congregation that I I'm really a Bible teacher prophet, and not in the area of foretelling people, oh, you're gonna be married tomorrow. Well, like the prophets of old who would call God's people back to righteousness. You know, and and really that's how you describe the office of a prophet.

SPEAKER_01

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

Uh and so I fall more into that category. Wax just saw that. And him, you know, being a professor of theology and all of this stuff. I had my own private seminary.

SPEAKER_01

That's awesome.

SPEAKER_00

For well over 15 years, you know. And so he would, you know, go, hey, you need to understand this, you need to understand this doctrine, you know. And so I had a government job at that time, federal government, and he's climbed communication towers. It's one of those kind of jobs that no more always work, so you know. So after I got saved, I'd bring my Bible and just sit and read and read and read. I'll call him up. I'm like, bro, what's up with this? What is this about? You know. So all you people out there listening to this, your tax dollars paid for my Bible education.

SPEAKER_03

But he still did his job, he was just getting paid. Um that's amazing that God met you at your need. And I remember you sharing a little bit of about that when we were hanging out the other day at Emiola, and you said, you know, God knew your brain couldn't just do the regular schooling and the regular reading. Like somehow it gets mixed up, I think you said, and so it doesn't come out quite with the right. But that one-on-one mentoring is exactly what the good Dr. God Jehovah Rafa ordered for you to heal your mind and transform your mind so that you could take in the kingdom of God advancing, right? And that Waxer, um, Dr. Waxer Tibden, Dr. David Tibden, right, would be able to Waxer's his nickname if you do not live in the state of Hawaii and you're like, what's going on with all this surf terminology? He has a nickname, but he was able to do that one-on-one with you and himself being such a smart guy to be able to translate so that your brain would get it and

Mentoring, Renewing The Mind

SPEAKER_03

it could click. Because now, and I'm gonna spin and pivot forward to another realm that you're engaged in, is you celebrate the Jewish traditions and the Jewish feasts. I was there with my sister uh Michelle, and she has been celebrating the Jewish feast for some time. But can you explain how does that intersect with your Christian faith? Why do you do that?

SPEAKER_00

Well, let me back up the tape a little bit. Um, Trisha, right? Trisha? Trisha Trisha. You know how she shared her story about not having nothing, right? Showing up the VMV and not having a car and nothing. It's kind of like me. I showed up to God and I had nothing up here. I had nothing up here. And I think that's how we all.

SPEAKER_03

Yep, come on now. We we we that's the plain God's honest truth. Yeah. We don't have anything before the Lord.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And so we haven't been illuminated yet.

SPEAKER_00

We haven't learned exactly. You know, whether it's it's in the material realm, you know, where we need something, we don't have a God provide. Well, for me, was really Romans 12, what is that, two, two, right? The renewing of the mind. And he really did the miracle.

unknown

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

And so, with that, Waxer's dad was actually a professor for a little while in in Jerusalem.

SPEAKER_01

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

And um did archaeology work there. Wow. So Waxer as a young child would go there and he understood scripturally the importance of Israel. So he kind of birthed that in me, but then I took it to a whole nother level.

SPEAKER_01

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

And I I believe this. Okay, when Yeshua returns, what we do now, how we function as believers are no longer gonna exist. Because if you read the prophecies, it's gonna go back to to what people call Torah. Because the temple is gonna be back in place and all of this stuff. You played sports growing up.

SPEAKER_03

I did, I played volleyball, I was a swimmer.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. So how did you get good at?

SPEAKER_03

Drill, drill, drill, practice, practice, practice.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, so that's why I try and encourage people to understand this stuff. That's what we're heading back to.

SPEAKER_03

Wow, because as it was in the beginning, so it shall be in the end. So we're going back to the beginning.

SPEAKER_00

If you read people like to talk about end times, right? Right? They all like to talk about events and all that.

SPEAKER_03

It's my favorite topic. Let's go.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Then what are we heading back to when Yeshua comes?

SPEAKER_03

The wedding feast, we're going upstairs. Is that what we're talking about?

SPEAKER_00

If you read Isaiah, like Isaiah 2, Isaiah 11, it talks about how the nation's gonna come to Jerusalem to learn Torah.

SPEAKER_01

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

See?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

The only reason uh the only reason why today we don't do certain aspects of Torah, which is probably what I'm about to share is probably about 70% of the Torah. The only reason why we don't do it is because there's no temple. That's it.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Yeshua comes back. That makes sense. Okay, but but when Yeshua comes back, he re-establishes the temple.

SPEAKER_02

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

So it's not gonna be Sunday morning.

SPEAKER_02

Right.

SPEAKER_00

It's not gonna be Shabbat, you know. Well, not only Shabbat, but even the feast, even the sacrifices come back in. When you read Ezekiel, you know, from what is it, 39, or actually 40 to about 48, it describes the messianic temple.

SPEAKER_01

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

And in the messianic temple, there's literal descriptions of the altar, little literal descriptions of the sacrifices again, but you can wait, but Yeshua can be right there. How does this work? Yeah, and one of the things I think where the the church is falling short in all the understanding of this is with the sacrificial system itself.

unknown

Oh, wow.

SPEAKER_00

When you look at the sacrificial system, a very small percentage of it, like the burnt offering, the sin offering, the guilt offering, were dedicated towards sin. All the rest had different reasons. I mean, if you look like the meal offerings, sometimes called the fellowship offering, it's it's such a beautiful offering because what it is, it's the one offering, the one sacrifice that the offerer could partake, where every other sacrifice was either all gods or gods and the priests. So it's like you just stoked on God. Wow. So you bring your basically your whole kupu into the tabernacle to the temple, and you want to have fellowship with God.

SPEAKER_01

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

See? So when we fast forward this into the millennial period, right? We're not talking about eternity, we're talking about when the Isha comes back, sets up his kingdom here on earth. Okay? You're not going to just walk in, right? Nobody can go to DC and just walk into the White House. There's protocol, right?

SPEAKER_03

Right, exactly.

SPEAKER_00

So how can we not treat our king that way?

SPEAKER_03

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

See?

SPEAKER_03

That's beautiful.

SPEAKER_00

And so that's one of the reasons why.

SPEAKER_03

That's beautiful.

SPEAKER_00

It's for us who do this, we're not trying to be legalistic. We know it's by faith through grace. That's it. Nothing else, right?

SPEAKER_03

Because you're a Christian, but it's almost like they say there's a messianic Jew, right? Those Jews who do believe in Jesus. But you're a Christian who celebrates the feast. And I know Pastor Waxer Tipton, same thing at one love. I was attending there for a good season. I will say there's a slightly funny story. My dad passed of a sudden heart attack about 13 years ago. And he has four daughters. I'm number one. I like to bring that up a lot. I'm the oldest, but I don't like the word old, so number one. And uh my three kid sisters, one sister was coming from Tennessee, and she is much like you. You met Michelle, hardcore G.I. Jane for Jesus, but she also um loves the Jewish feast. And it was around uh something, it was like Christmas was coming, right? It was right after Thanksgiving, he passed. And she said, We don't celebrate Christmas. And I bout socked her in the face right there. I was gonna punch her because I was I had a whole lot of grief, anyways. And so please don't think I'm normally a violent person. But my sister was sitting right next to me and she said, We celebrate the seven feasts, right? And and Shabbat. And and I I was like, We were not raised Jewish. What is wrong with you? But the fullness of that statement, right? Because I like the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help me. God, the fullness of that is I have come to because I was attending one love and speaking with you, and then coming. Coming through Waimea, and then you were giving out those calendars, right? The Jewish calendars, just and then sitting with you and your family at the Shabbat table on Friday night and beginning Sabbath. And I just thought, man, there's so much goodness to this. I even spoke with my pastor in an earlier episode, and he was talking about on Sabbath, they do. They don't buy anything because neither do we work, nor do we support other people working on that day. There's no social media. We do things that are um regal and holy unto the Lord. Our kids don't do their homework on that day, right? We come together as a family and celebrate. And it's that spirit of celebration that's precious and it's almost been forgotten, I would say. At least by me in my little neck of the woods, but I think a lot of, and you referenced this earlier with the Christian history of Hoi, the deceiver is starting to hide things. Because if we really knew, Kahu David, the goodness of God in the land of the living, if we really understood the goodness of Sabbath and just sitting and soaking and marinating in his spirit, if I understood how rich my God's love is for me, I really would shed probably 99.9999999% of my my worries, exactly, my daily troubles, my struggles with identity issues, and I'm a Christian leadership woman.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And it goes back to a lot of those foundational feasts that Jesus Himself celebrated. Come on, somebody.

Sabbath And Biblical Feasts As Practice

SPEAKER_00

Let me give you a real quick Bible study on this as quick as I can. If you go to Leviticus 23, it's the law of all the feasts. There's not seven, there's eight. Oh, okay. Shabbat is the eight.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

It's considered one of the feasts.

SPEAKER_01

Thank God I got it right in front of the guy.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. But when you read it, there's these two Hebrew words that get popping up. In the English, it's um appointed time and holy um complication. Okay. When you look at these words in the Hebrew, appointed time is the word Moed in the Hebrew. And it literally means to keep an appointment.

SPEAKER_01

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

So in other words, God goes, Hey, I got your daytime. When you look at the feast, okay, God had arranged his people's daytime. Okay. Once a week, you meet with me. In fact, we let's let's back up the tape a little bit. Okay. They were supposed to go three times a day to pray.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Then once a week they had the Shabbat.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Right? There's a feast that hardly you hardly ever hear anybody talk about. It's called the New Moon. Paul talks about this. The beginning of the month. Rosh Kodesh, the head of the month. Okay, so now you got your day timer. The beginning of the month, you mean we're gone. Right? And these all become Shabbat, by the way.

SPEAKER_01

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Then you have the seven, the big seven, right? Yes. Okay. So those are the yearly ones. So you look at it. God goes, I got your day, I got your week, I got your month, and I got your yearly.

SPEAKER_01

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. So now these two words in the English, appointed, and um holy convocation. Okay. Appointed, Moed, it means to keep an appointment, like I said earlier. But Moed, I mean um magra in the Hebrew convocation. It actually means to rehearse or to practice.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_00

Okay? So God says, I give an appointment with you once a month, once a week, three times a day, and seven times out of the year. That's a Moed. You come, you meet with me during these times. And we're going to rehearse something. Now you look at Passover. So Exodus 12, right? The initial Passover, right, when they leave Egypt. Okay, so if that was Paul done, right? Right. How come they had to do it yearly?

SPEAKER_03

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

Because they were practicing for the real Passover.

SPEAKER_03

Oh my gosh. That's so good.

SPEAKER_00

And then they would practice the feast of unleavened bread when he was put in the grave.

SPEAKER_01

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

And then finally, first fruits, which he rose, right?

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_00

So that's why these things are important. But now if you take that same concept and you apply it to the Shabbat, you gotta ask yourself, what are we meeting with God, Moed, once a week for? What are we practicing? And when you understand, when you remove the ignorance of the church, sorry, but that's the truth.

SPEAKER_01

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

And then the legalism of Judaism. Okay?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And you look at what you're left with. Think about what you're practicing. Once a week, you stop, right? And it's not about stopping work, it's about stopping to provide. It's on the law of Shabbat, it's okay to go out and do good for others, even if you have to labor. Okay. That's why Yeshua said what he said to the Pharisees.

SPEAKER_03

I was gonna say, Yeshua said, right, if you lost your ox or you lost your goat or something, you're gonna go find it on that day.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. So now you're meeting with God. It's holy, right? Anything holy belongs to God. Kodosh, right? That's his. Okay? So he goes, This is my day. You come hang with me. You hang out with my blessings that I gave you, your family, my creation, all of these things. What are you practicing once a week?

SPEAKER_01

Heaven.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly. That's what you practicing practicing heaven on earth.

SPEAKER_03

Wow. That's how much that is so good. That just dawned upon me. I know that's my name. It takes me a few seconds to get things, but that is heaven.

SPEAKER_00

So why wouldn't we practice this?

SPEAKER_03

Amen. See? Weekly as a weekly reminder of the rest in the Lord. See, the sweet rest.

SPEAKER_00

We throw the baby out with the bathwater.

SPEAKER_03

And then we make it so formulaic and programmed. Yep. Let's go to church. Okay, get it over with. Exactly.

SPEAKER_00

If you go to Jerusalem, you know, I was just there in December with this Shabbat, we start praying again when we're going back to Israel again to reach out.

SPEAKER_02

My sister's already booked her ticket because she said, you know that Kahu Blovins goes to Israel once a year. I'm going on his next tour.

SPEAKER_00

But but if you get there on Shabbat, you blow your mind. You blow your mind. I sit um on Gila, the mountains of Gilo, and watch Jerusalem towards sunset on on Friday. Just unwind. You literally see cars just disappearing off the road.

SPEAKER_01

That's amazing.

SPEAKER_00

And that's it's like that for 24 hours.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it is. Yeah. I've been to Israel once in 2000. They don't even press the elevator button.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's when it starts getting out of hand, though.

SPEAKER_03

Right. But I used it recently when I was ministering to a woman in a counseling, and I just said, this is how much, as much as it is more legalistic, but they don't even want to push a button. Here we are on our devices, on our phones, on my iPad, doing stuff all day. Well, I have the day off. I'm taking Sabbath, but here I am on social media, Instagram, checking things, I get notifications. And so I'm preaching to myself right now. I'm not casting stones at you because I'm tonguin'. We don't waste stones on anybody. That's lunch money. I'm saying the rest in the Lord and the principle of that that I'm not even gonna push an elevator button is in order to honor my King of Kings and my Lord of Lords. There's something holy and sacred that we have forgotten.

SPEAKER_00

Well, why though? What have we forgotten? What is the core that we forgot?

SPEAKER_03

That God is gonna take care of us.

SPEAKER_00

Holy.

SPEAKER_03

Holy.

SPEAKER_00

It's his.

SPEAKER_03

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

See? Yes. And you're also right, because part of Shabbat, you you know, you might be going, you know what, I got bills, you know, I got these extra bills.

SPEAKER_03

I got three jobs to live in the state of Hawaii, right? It's nine to five, five to nine. I work all the time.

SPEAKER_00

So one of the things about Shabbat, it's a faith builder.

SPEAKER_03

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

Because you're going, like, Lord, you know my situation.

SPEAKER_03

I gotta let go for one day. Exactly. And you get to take the wheel. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And somehow he makes it happen.

SPEAKER_03

Amen. He sure does. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And just to testify to the goodness of that, and that's similar to the tithe, which was part of the sacrifice that we would bring to the temple in the Old Testament, as you're saying, the book of Leviticus, many other books, it's to show, Father, I sacrificed this to you, the tithe myself. I was challenged as a young girl growing up in the church. Pastor Wayne Cordero was my pastor at that time, barely earning anything, and then still getting to tithe off of the $5 I made, you know, delivering newspapers or whatever back in the big island. But the faithfulness of God to return that, pressed down, shaken together. The only scripture that says test the Lord on this is tithing. And and and people get so new, get their panties all bent out in a bunch. Believe me, I'm a big fan of panties, so don't worry about that. Don't get offended by what I just said. But we get so offended because people are asking for the tithe when it's a holy, sacred sacrifice to show I'm not in full control of my 100%. Here's 10%, an itty bitty cut, barato for God, and see what he can do with that, right? And I've never ever lacked, Pastor. I have never lacked. And the Bible says the children of God will not beg for bread.

SPEAKER_00

Well, if if if God owns the cattle in a thousand hills and Sono, right? Does he need your 10%?

SPEAKER_03

No.

SPEAKER_00

So what is he after then?

SPEAKER_03

None of my faithfulness. My heart.

SPEAKER_00

That's what the whole Malachi passage is about.

SPEAKER_03

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

That Israel lost their heart for God.

SPEAKER_03

It's huge.

SPEAKER_00

It wasn't the money.

SPEAKER_03

No. You're right. He does own the cattle on a thousand hills. I'm just asking for a double cheeseburger, Jesus. Hook it up, make it happen. Now I love that you're saying this. I'm sorry that I have to cut us short. But the Jewish traditions really, the living traditions of being in relationship. And I always think, Pastor, and this is maybe just my hilo simple, keep them simple, is um Jesus celebrated them, then I can celebrate them too.

SPEAKER_04

Exactly.

SPEAKER_03

So initially I wanted to sock my sister in the face for saying we don't celebrate Christmas, but we're going to celebrate Jewish tradition. And now I'm a girl who's who's learned better, and I do try my best to honor Sabbath. And I'm still learning. So thank you for explaining some of that. And then back to your point, I think it gives the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. But I have to learn the Jesus truth about some of these holidays, right? And why it's prophetic for the feast of trumpets that is coming that is going to announce the return of our King of Kings. And that goes back to even some of the Hawaiian history we were cover covering earlier, as you can hear the recap coming right at you right now. You know, when we see things on, I think it was Netflix that had Chief of War with Jason Momoa, and it was a very limited version of what the Hawaii history was, right? No story.

SPEAKER_00

I didn't see it. I never watched it.

SPEAKER_03

I um I didn't see it either. Sorry, Jason, not to support your empire, but also I protested it to a certain degree, and I know we're gonna get a lot of flack back on that. So start, start your engines, haters. Um it was extremely limited, and it showed a lot of well, it showed orgies, it showed um alternative relationships between certain people. And I just thought this is not the actual history, it's not the complete, the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, because you don't portray the royalty. So maybe it was just a little sliver of the history of Hawaii, but when we look at the main dominating theme of what our Mo'i and our Ali and even our Makka Ainana, the commoners, were following the word of God. So I'm just putting that out there. And as Pastor said earlier, do your due diligence and go find a researcher like Ron Williams. And there's a lot of documentation to go back on.

What “Aloha” Means To Him

SPEAKER_03

Last question we ask every guest, and I'm gonna ask you as you are Moluchayan and a man who is about Hawaiian history as well as Jesus prophecy, what is aloha to you?

SPEAKER_00

In the Hebrew, in the Bible, Yahweh has somewhere close to 300 plus names or titles.

SPEAKER_03

300 plus?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Names or titles.

SPEAKER_03

That's what I maybe know six. Jehovah Jirah, my provider, Jehovah Shalom, God my peace, 300 plus.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, well, like the rose of Sharon, the lily of the battle, these are titles and names. It's not just identities, exactly.

SPEAKER_01

It's who he is.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly. Okay. So I tell people all the time if I was in charge of Christianity, which I'm a big fan of, by the way. I'm sorry. Uh for another time.

SPEAKER_03

Part two coming quickly to be continued.

SPEAKER_00

There was there would be three things I would require of people. One, everybody has to take at least one trip to Israel. Minimum. You gotta get on that dirt. Amen. You gotta touch down there.

SPEAKER_03

Fully agree.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. The other one, you have to do an in-depth study of Romans 1 through 7. You better make sure you know why you're saved. You better make sure you know how it works. Justification, that's Paul's whole deal right there. Amen. Because chapter 8 doesn't make sense unless you understand chapters 1 through 7, right? All these wonderful promises in 8 doesn't make sense unless you justify. Okay. And then finally, the the third thing would be an in-depth study of the names of God in Hebrew.

SPEAKER_03

All 300.

SPEAKER_00

As many as you can. I was just having a conversation.

SPEAKER_03

I was proud of myself with seven. I know pride is a sin, but I'm just gonna be up front about it. I was real happy I had Jehovah XXXX, right? Now you're telling me there's 300.

SPEAKER_00

I was just having this conversation with my niece on the phone on the way um to the airport this afternoon and and hooked her up on website to start diving into this. But to answer your question, the reason why I brought that to the table is one of those 300 names in the Hebrew, it's aloha. What does that sound like?

SPEAKER_01

Aloha.

SPEAKER_00

Okay? What is it? Then you get then you you take it from the Hebrew into the Aramaic.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

The Arabs actually pronounce it aloha.

SPEAKER_03

Not and then, and what?

SPEAKER_00

And then you will get um Anti Mary Kobenakupuhi's dictionary.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, I have a copy in my office right now.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Oh, I turned off my phone show. But you go read her description of Aloha, her definition. It describes Yahweh.

SPEAKER_01

What?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Every single one.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Aloha never come from the Hawaiians, girl, sorry. Really? Hey, you guys out there, I may look howli my motto was street quarter Hawaiian. I was brought up deep in a culture. You think about our history. Before the Baibala came here, we were warring factionist people. That's what we were. Our history proves it, the sites prove it. Nuanu. The battle, all these battles, Kavella or Molokai, one of the balls.

SPEAKER_03

But Mehameo is the prophesied one who had to unite the factions.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly. See? So where did Allah came from? Come from. It came from the Baimalah when the Baimala came here.

SPEAKER_03

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

Aloha.

SPEAKER_03

You're blowing my mind, Kahu.

SPEAKER_00

But see, this is the stuff that I try and get out to people in the churches. Not your typical, oh, they good do this, you can be the better husband, a better wife.

SPEAKER_04

Right.

SPEAKER_00

You can get that from anybody. My heart is like, we're going deep. And I'm gonna take I'm gonna take you into the deep end of the pool, even if you're drowning, because eventually your sure is gonna make sense. He's gonna make a deeper sense to who he is, what he has done. This is not about intellect. This is about having responsibility to the truth of the word of God.

SPEAKER_03

That's good.

SPEAKER_00

We owe our God that.

SPEAKER_03

The truth of the word of God, the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, and that aloha comes from Jesus, which comes from the Middle East. Bruh. You know, I've asked every guest on this, and we've lasted over a year now. Thank you, Clint, for bringing us over the one-year mark. Most podcasts don't last um a year, 90% fade out, is the statistic I saw. Never once have I had a guest, and there have been they're all great answers, of course. This is mind-blowing to me. This is salt on the tongue, as I heard one great speaker at Hawaiian Islands Ministry uh speaker was saying, This is the salt that gets you thirsty for more. There has to be a part two.

SPEAKER_00

You know who taught me that? Well, non-believing Jew. Not he said, go look at this name.

unknown

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

Go look at this name and and look at Allah.

SPEAKER_03

That's unreal. Sorry. No, that's not true. No, I'm just kidding. I'm trying to go back into my uh polished professional masters in speech. That's amazing. That seriously is mind-blowing. I love that. I want to do more research. I want to contact Ron Williams. I want to get the rest of the story, as we used to say on a radio program. And that's the rest of the story. So um we know aloha. Thank you. I'm gonna look it up in Auntie Mary Kavna Pukui's dictionary and know that that's a description of Jesus. The last question or second part of that was who is your aloha hero? Anyone in the past or present, a person who lives pure aloha and how so?

SPEAKER_00

Um, I gotta say, one of them is Waxer. Brother been through the worst of my darkest days with me. And even now, it you know, my life and some struggles I went through the last few years. Bravo never bailed because not just because he's my friend, but he understands calling on someone's life. And according to Paul in Romans 9, what is it no, 1129? He says that the gifts and callings of God are irrevocable. Come on, irrevocable, exactly, and he understood that. And in my darkest days as a believer, he took flack for it. Because there are people, you know, dogging him, you know, like I'll come look blevins, you know. And he said, just let him go, bro. Let it let God deal with him. And God's done a good job. So yeah, that's that's one of the brothels. And then um my associate, Kahu, you know him, Kahu Keith, Kanio and Armelie. Kahu Keith is old school cowboy, right? Just stern. And when I I I sense God was saying, hey, ask ask Keith if he sends a calling from God. And everybody was like, bro, how come you're asking this guy? Like, you know, and he's been so faithful, so loyal. Not just to me, but to God and to the people. And and sometimes people have a hard time because he is old school.

SPEAKER_03

He's old school, but he has such a sweet heart. Such a sweet man. And isn't her nickname? I'm like, Kahu Keith. She calls him honey, right? Yeah, so and when I'm at the house staying with them up in uh Waimea at the homestead, right, ranches. I have to call him Honey. I'm an unmarried single woman and a Christian, and I'm calling another woman's husband Honey, but I'm glad you changed it for church, and he's Kahu Keith. So I was like, wait, Armali, she's married to Honey. What are you talking about? Yeah, that's awesome.

SPEAKER_00

And you know, right now they're going through some serious health situations. Oh, I didn't know that. And so, you know, and he's still staying faithful to the call as he ministers to his wife. Hallelujah. Yeah. And so, yeah, there's a few others. Brother Teva, Paul.

SPEAKER_03

Thank God for Teva. There's only one Teva. God broke the mode, made the mode, broke the mode.

SPEAKER_00

But if I can, I want to share

The Distraction Test And Why

SPEAKER_00

something with you before we close. Absolutely. Okay. Let me show you why I do what I do now. Why I am a stickler for trying to do the best I can to getting the word of God accurate, okay? These are four common objects on the table, right?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I already know which one you can pick. Okay? And I I have a copy of one of these with me in my pocket, just to prove. Okay. So point to two objects. Any two? Take these two out. Okay. So you left with these two. Choose one of the two.

SPEAKER_03

Just one?

SPEAKER_00

Yep. Choose one of the two. Okay. Take that out. Take the phone out then. That's exactly what the enemy does to us all the time. He does this, they do this to us every single day 24-7. You did everything. You everything was your free will. You chose everything, put everything off to the side. So you think you're choosing to do everything freely. The whole time I was manipulating you to make you choose the candy. That's what the enemy does. That's why I'm such a stickler for the word. Because most believers are living on cliche Christianity.

SPEAKER_01

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

That's I see it all the time.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, absolutely.

SPEAKER_00

And this is the enemy doing this to us all the time.

SPEAKER_03

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

Just tweaking with us.

SPEAKER_03

Are you sure you don't have a second phone, a second pair of glasses, and a second car key in your pocket as well?

SPEAKER_00

Empty.

SPEAKER_03

Bruh. What? Is it because it was shiny and sparkly? I mean, I thought I was gonna be the super deep chick.

SPEAKER_00

I manipulated you into choosing that. Not with some hocus pocus supernatural thing. Only with my words.

SPEAKER_03

Wow. But what you drop, the principle of the point and the moral of the story is, as you said, that we live in a culture where all of this gets put to the side for the distracting, shiny, and the cliche Christian culture. The stuff I can post.

SPEAKER_00

Not knowing the word of God. We can mimic it, we we can spout it out, whatever, but do we actually understand it? This is what God has been challenging me to challenge others with. And I challenging everyone who's gonna ever hear this thing. I challenge you to get on a piece of paper and write down why you believe what you believe. Not what you believe, but why. And most Christians can't do it.

SPEAKER_01

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

They can't no they that's this is why our youth are being hammered in the universities. Because they leave the home, Christian homes, knowing what to believe, but they cannot explain why. And the professors know this.

SPEAKER_03

Wow. And that's not just the brain drain, that's the spirit drain. It's totally being washed out and corrupted and polluted. And then we go for the shiny one.

SPEAKER_00

We go what the enemy is manipulating us to change.

SPEAKER_03

And then they cannot hold up the sharp sword of the Lord when the enemy rolls up on them. Because they don't know their faith. So you said, and I'm gonna repeat some of the things that I'm thinking in my head, is to start learning the Hebrew names of God, 300 plus, uh, maybe one a day, 356, 365, uh, then also to Romans 1 through 7, right? And then the third one.

SPEAKER_00

Why you're safe. Why do you need to be? This is a legal issue.

SPEAKER_03

Amen. It's a legal issue. And it's a spiritual contract that you're fighting for your spirit and your soul.

SPEAKER_00

Paul, in the first three chapters, builds an argument of why we are condemned. That's what the first three chapters of Roman is all about. He's presenting this picture of showing why Jew and Gentile is condemned before God. Okay? Then from four to seven, he's now talking about how we are to get justified. That's why he keeps bringing Abraham into the conversation. Because by you know, his faith is what reckoned him to righteousness right before God. And then finally, when you you understand, like, wow, okay, I'm in legal trouble here with God.

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

But yet he makes the legal way out through justification through Yeshua. Then Romans 8, that wonderful chapter that nothing can ever separate me from the love of God. Right? All things work out for the for good, right?

SPEAKER_03

Amen. No force. All of that then it just takes on the city.

SPEAKER_00

It's no longer, you know, the the the verse we stitch on a pillow.

SPEAKER_03

Right.

SPEAKER_00

It's like, oh yeah, bro.

SPEAKER_03

Now you're living on it.

Final Charge And Blessing

SPEAKER_03

Exactly now. You're advancing kingdom against the darkness of hell on it. Exactly. Powerful pastor. So okay, I don't want your coffee anymore. Your coffee candy. That's Clint. Clint, you sucker, he suckered me up. You know what? Such a deep conversation. We definitely have to have you back, Kahu. I know we just touched on the the tip of the iceberg, right? Or maybe the tip of the mauna, if we were to make a local um illustration that's comparable. I don't want to steal your phone and your glasses and your car. Uh, but thank you so much, Kahu David Bliv. Originally of Molokai and now um of God's kingdom, God's country, and taking that all the way out to Israel and back. I just bless you in the name of Yeshua Hamashiach, the Jesus who is returning soon.

SPEAKER_05

Amen.

SPEAKER_03

And all of his prophecy. Please, family, hear this from Kahu's heart, from my heart. We are in the last seconds of the last days. Please get grounded and founded in the Word of God, the Bible. Please, please know the identity of God as He has just asked us to do. And then also to really understand the book of Romans in your Bible, chapters one through seven, so that eight becomes a manifest, um, just a multi-splendored wonder. You don't have to go to Disney to be the happiest place on earth. We're going into Romans 8, living, where it's going to become the shining city of the glory of Jesus Christ and our God. Uh, this is aloha alive, and aloha always wins. Love never fails. God bless you and God speed. Aloha. Wait, shalom aloha. Shalom Shaka Yeshua.
