I actually ought to continue to pray this morning. I certainly do need your prayers always, but um pray for me this morning and pray for yourselves that I wouldn't be a stumbling block under the Lord's message to you today. Um a thought that's on my mind, um, as a way of introduction, I would like to not preach on the doctrine of original sin and total depravity, but just know that because of that, because we believe, um, that when Adam fell, um all his progeny, all mankind fell with him. And then we bear about this nature of sin. Um and until regeneration, we are slaves to sin. We are dead alien sinners. Um, there is no good in us. Um so establishing that and and uh with that assumption, not going out to prove those things this morning, but that is a base. And also that God is a righteous and holy God, that he is um cannot be with iniquity, he can't um will not have sin, he is righteous and cannot be corrupted and won't um have corruption with him. Um how do we reconcile unto the Lord? How are we reconciled unto God? How are we redeemed to God? That is the basis of our religion, the basis of our faith is what do we believe that God has done for us? What is the truth of how salvation is obtained? Um this is why differences of interpretations of scripture is why you have multiple churches that profess that Jesus is the Christ, that he is the Son of the living God, that he is uh the second in the Trinity, all these things that we have in common, um, but yet there are multiple, even in this small town of Snyder, multiple churches, this meeting this morning that are preaching different gospels about how to obtain salvation or how salvation was obtained for you. And we are in that latter group that salvation was obtained for us. Um and so one aspect is that we believe that salvation is by grace, by grace alone. Um that God has done the work, that Christ finished the work of atonement on the cross, and we have hope in the resurrection that he was raised on the third day. Um if we look at the Old Testament, if we look at the law service, um God instituted a service that required many works. It required devotion by the people, it required them to sanctify material things, to create a tabernacle to build and overlay with gold the Ark of the Covenant and the tabernacle and priestly garments and all these things, right? And then they had to sanctify them. They had to set these things aside that they were for a holy purpose. They were for the purpose of the law service. They were not to be used for any other common purpose. If there was a cup, then that cup was only to be used in that service. It could not be used for dinner later on, right? It would be corrupted if it had been used for any other purpose. The priests had to wash themselves, they had to sanctify and purify themselves before they would enter in and to offer the sacrifices. Um the people would take the first fruits, they would take the spotless lamb, the best of their flocks, the best of their herds, um to offer as a sacrifice. And that sacrifice had to be purified. It was sanctified, it was set aside for the purpose of this service. Um so when we think about sanctification, we think about the word sanctify. There's a kind of a family of words in scripture that all have to do with being set aside, with being purified and regarded as holy. Um, those words are sanctification, sanctified, saint. Um, we are called the saints of God. That is from the same root of sanctification that we are set aside and regarded for that as God's. Umctuary. You know, it would be a sanctuary that is sanctified. It is a place, it's a refuge, it's it's something that's set aside and regarded and purified for that purpose. Um, I want to go first as we as we think about that that Old Testament, um, I'd like to go first into the tenth chapter of Hebrews. And the Apostle Paul here um references how the law service was a shadow of good things to come. He says in the first verse, for the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually, make the comers thereunto perfect. That's one thing about the law service is that the people were required to come near. They had to come to be included in that sacrifice for sins, they had to become near unto where it was being made. Um, so he says the comers, it never made them perfect. Um, sacrifice is another one of those words in that family of words that is from that same root of sanctification. Um we think about sanctification, it's not just um the process of cleansing, of purification, of washing, um, but it's also the setting aside. Um, God sanctified the seventh day. If that seventh day was to be set aside, uh it's a physical, like um positional thing about the seventh day was to be sanctified. That day was not for work, it wasn't for anything but service to God. That's what you did on the seventh day. That's that um the Sabbath day. And so there's also is the purification, the washing, the um the things that the priests did. And then there's also to be regarded. Um in the 36th chapter of Ezekiel, um, God tells them that, let me just go there real really quickly. I want He tells them that um that he will be sanctified in them. And we know that God doesn't need to be purified. Um to be sanctified can't only mean the washing and purification. Um to be regarded. Um in the 36th chapter of Ezekiel, he says, Um, let me see. In the starting the 22nd verse, he says, Therefore say unto the house of Israel, thus saith the Lord God, I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name's sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went. So Israel had um gone out, and um because of their actions, because um of their um rebellion against God, he had put them into bondage. And the people that they were in bondage to began to um not regard the Lord's name as holy. They said, If you're the people of this God that you worship, but we have you under subjection, so he can't be that high of a God. And so his name was being profaned among these heathens, and that didn't sit well with him. That brought God's wrath. He that angered God, right? His he said, My name will be exalted. Um he's saying that he is gonna um restore Israel. This restoration is coming, not because they've done anything to deserve it, not because they have um all of a sudden become more deserving, and he's gonna deliver them from things that works that they had done, not because they believe on him anymore. Um, but he said, for my holy name's sake, for my sake, I'm gonna deliver you, so that my name, he says, will be sanctified. He says the 23rd verse, and I will sanctify my great name, which uh was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them, and the heathen shall know that I am the Lord, saith the Lord God, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes. So he's gonna sanctify his name. Like his name is holy, he is holy. He's not gonna be cleansed, but he will be regarded for what he is. Um and so sanctification, and we're thinking about um how that word is used, and it's used in different ways, it can it can mean to be set aside, it can mean to be purified, and it can mean um to be regarded as holy. And so if we go back to the to Hebrews, um, the tenth chapter, it says the law is a shadow of good things to come, but it never could make the comers thereunto perfect. For uh then would they not have ceased to be offered, because um that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins. But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year. So he's saying that these sacrifices were were intended for one thing to be a schoolmaster. That's that's what they were for. They were to show and point towards Christ. That's what they were for. Um It was for the remission of sins for a period of time for the purification of Israel, but not perfect, not unto their perfection, not a total thing. It was a timely thing, right? So um they would offer these sacrifices, they would um cleanse their consciences until they would ultimately sin again. He says, But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year, for it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins. Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, sacrifices and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me. In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure. Then said I, Lo, I come in the volume of the book it is written of me, to do thy will, O God. Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings, and offering for sin, thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein, which are offered by the law. Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. God didn't take pleasure in those in those sacrifices. Um it wasn't something that um that he established for his own glory, his own pleasure. It was something that was for man to teach man to um to give us a way, to give the Israelites a way to show their service to God, their devotion to God, and to to teach them their guilt and their need for a redeemer. He says, He took away the first, so God Christ came and he says not to destroy the law, but to fulfill the law. Um and so he came to take away or to fulfill the law so that he could of sin and death, so that he could establish the law of grace. He says, by the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. So the Israelites through that law service, the offering of those bloods of bulls and goats year after year, um, they were pure, you know, it was the sin uh was shed from their conscience, um, but it had to be done continually because ultimately, like you and I, um we fall short of the mark every day. Um I I I at least do. Um whether it be through thought or deed, um I I am a sinner. I I bear this sin nature um uh with me still, but he says um in he took away that old so that he could establish the new. And the tenth verse, by the which will we are sanctified. So we are um sanctified in this verse that we are purified. We are we are washed clean. We are through the blood, the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Um that's how we are um made clean, is through through the offering of his body. It says, once for all, there's no more offering for sin. There's no more sacrifice needed for sin. Um, there's no more shedding of blood, there's no more sacrifices that need to be made for our purification. We are purified, we are sanctified through the finished work of Jesus Christ. Well, um we talked also about the setting aside, that part of sanctification, of the setting aside. Um we are, we were, when you set something aside, there's a group of things, right? You when you think about this, there's um say they have uh a multitude of cups. You have cups in your cabinet, right? You have, but there's certain cups, there's certain china, there's certain dishes that you use for special occasions, right? We a lot of times we're nowadays we're using paper plates. It saves saves work, right? We want to use paper plates, but the fine that the the good stuff we use for company that we come out, we use the good china, the good um flatware and things of that nature. Um that stuff is is kind of set aside for a purpose. It's not we're not gonna use it all the time. Um when we think about sanctification, it's not just special occasions, it's for holy occasions. It's for um it's for uh things that are to be in the sanctuary, things that are to be um for the service of God. Um and so when we are we're chosen before the foundation of the world, God sanctified us through his election. He he set us aside and sanctified us, set us aside for the purpose of being with him in heaven and immortal glory. For his own glory, because he loved us, he set us aside, he chose us and set his elect aside from those that are not elect, from the whole family of Adam that all fell and were all um sinners by their nature. Um those elect, those he chose, and there are some when you choose, there are some that are not chosen. When you elect, that means there are some that are not elect. And we are set aside for for his purposes, for God's purposes. Um set us aside and sanctified us through his will and his election. And then in the 10th verse here, he says that we are sanctified, meaning the purification of us, that we are sanctified, purified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering, oftentimes the same sacrifices which can never take away sin. So he's comparing that again. Um these priests are offering these things, and it's an exercise in faith, but ultimately cannot take away sin. He says, But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God. Um so he offered himself that sacrifice. If we look at Christ's own words, in the 17th chapter of John, this is um the 17th chapter of John. Um Christ is in the garden and he is praying for his apostles, he's praying for his disciples, um, and ultimately for us. He he extends this to us. He says, um in the 14th verse of the 17th chapter of John, I have given them thy word, and thy word, sorry, excuse me, I have given them thy word, and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. Um, so he's saying that I've been in the world, the world has hated me, they're in the world, and um the world's gonna hate them because they're of they're from me, they're of me. You've sent me, I've sent them, I've given them thy word. Um, they are set aside, they they are sanctified for the purpose of spreading the gospel of grace, and the world's gonna hate them for it. Um, I pray not that you take them out of the world to save them from um the ridicule, but that there's a purpose for them to remain in the world, to spread thy word, to um to deliver the good news of salvation to thy people. So, but keep them from the evil, maintain them, preserve them. In the 16th chapter, they are verse, they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth. Thy word is truth. As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. So this is Christ saying that he's sanctifying himself. So is he talking about purifying himself? I don't think that you can use the word sanctification in the way that it's being used in this verse and say that he's talking about purifying himself. Because we know that he was not corrupted, he was never corrupted, he was never, he didn't have the nature of sin, born of a virgin, his um you know, sent the only begotten of God, that he was already a spotless pure lamb, but he was set aside for the purpose of the offering, that sacrificial offering for sin. He's sanctifying, he's I'm set aside, I'm sanctifying myself, I'm preparing myself not in a not to be pure and free of sin, because he already was, um, but to be set aside and regarded for the purpose of that spotless lamb, the Lamb of God. Um He said, He said, For their sakes I sanctify myself that they also might be sanctified through the truth, that they might be regarded and purified through thy word. Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word. So they this is when it extends to us. He's not just he was praying that prayer for the apostles, for the disciples, um, but not just for them, but for you and I, that we might be sanctified through the truth. And he says, Thy word is truth. The the the scripture. The inspired word of God, the God-breathed words that we have, He's preserved for us even today. So we think about these things to be set aside, to be purified, and to be regarded as holy. But we know that we can't do these things of our own. That God has purified us through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, that that blood is what has purified us and sanctified us in that eternal sense. So many believe, as I spoke earlier about this morning, that there are multiple churches meeting this morning and talking about our Savior Jesus Christ and about salvation. And their doctrines of sanctification are a progressive purification of oneself through your life. That their thoughts, when they think and and meditate on sanctification, their emphasis is on themselves and what they would do. That when we think about putting off the old man and putting on the new man, mortifying the deeds of the flesh, that is how they believe. So many that there's a when they start to believe, when they're first converted, and through their life, that they would become closer and closer to the mark. And that's a common, when we think about the doctrine of sanctification, belief about what it's talking about. But how can in Job, you know, he says, how can man be justified with God? How can you bring a clean thing from an unclean thing? You can't. No one can. It's like washing with a dirty rag. You can't purify yourself. We rely on the sanctification of the Holy Spirit when we are washed in regeneration. Back in the 36th chapter of Ezekiel, again, you know, we talked about them being in bondage and his name being profaned among the heathen. And he said, I will sanctify my great name. In the 24th verse, he says, For I will take you from among the heathen and gather you out of all countries and will bring you into your own land. He will sanctify you. I will, he says, I will bring you out. Just as that's a picture of election that he sets us aside. He chose us, he gathers us together. I will. Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean from all your filthiness, and from all your idols will I cleanse you. So it's will I, I will, will I, I will. He's doing these things. I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean from all your filthiness, and from all your idols will I cleanse you. When you think about Christ's conversation with Nicodemus, and he tells him, Um, if you're not born again, you cannot see the kingdom of God. If you're not born of water and of the Spirit, you cannot enter into the kingdom of God. Um this is, and he and he expects um Nicodemus to know what he's talking about because he's a teacher of teachers. You know, he he is high in in, he's studied the law his whole life, and he should know Ezekiel. He should have read this and known what he's talking about when he's talking about being born of water and of the Spirit. Ezekiel here he says, Sprinkle with clean water upon you, and you shall be clean from all your filthiness, and from all your idols will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you, and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh, and I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments and do them. So God is doing all of these things. He says, I will wash you with clean water, um, I will give you a new spirit, I will take out your stony heart and give you a heart of flesh, I will put my spirit within you and cause you to walk in my statutes. We are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus, unto good works, which he hath before ordained that we should walk in them. He does the work. Um worketh in it worketh in us both to will and to do, um, of his good pleasure. In the ninth chapter of Romans, he says, It's not of him that willeth or him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy. Because if you will and if you run, it's because God has put his spirit within you. Um, not that they are sanctifying themselves, not that they are creating a new heart within themselves, not that they are washing themselves with clean water, but God is doing all of these things. He is the workman, we are his workmanship. Um, we are what um the recipients of the work of God. Um and it says, Um, and ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers, and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God. I will also save you from all your uncleanness, and I will call for the corn, and will increase it and lay no famine upon you, and I will multiply the fruit of the tree and the increase of the field, that um ye shall receive no more reproach of famine among the heathen. Then shall ye remember your own evil ways and your doings that were not good, and shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations. What is what does that mean? So, as we said before, he said, I do this for not for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name's sake. So I'm gonna deliver you, I'm gonna restore you because I made a covenant, I made a promise, and my I will not cannot deny myself, my word is true. Um, I will restore you. It's not because of you, it's because of it's for my holy name's sake. I'm gonna deliver you because these heathens are now not regarding me as holy because of you and your chastity, your bondage, and they're they're now not regarding me as holy. Now I'm gonna deliver you in a mighty, mighty way. I'm gonna deliver you. I'm gonna not only um am I gonna deliver you out of their hand, but I'm gonna make you new. I'm gonna create you, give you a new nature. I'm gonna, I'm gonna put a heart of flesh, take out your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. I'm gonna put my spirit within you, and you're gonna be have a new nature. That's what we have in regeneration. That that sin nature, um, that we are slaves to sin, we are dead alien sinners, cannot choose God, will not, um, not that he puts a new heart within us, he creates that indwelling of the Holy Spirit, he puts his spirit within us, whereby we cry of a Father. He creates, gives us a new nature. Um, when we are regenerated children of God, when we are washed with that clean water, when we we receive that um sanctification, we are sanctified and purified through the finished work of Jesus Christ. We are new, and we have uh uh given liberty and freedom to choose good, to choose God, to worship him and to um serve him in all manner of conversation. Um we are commanded, it says to be holy. And when we think about being pure and being holy, um we're thinking about being sanctified, being purified, being holy. Um, and he commands us to be holy in all manner of conversation, um, that we should regard ourselves, not just God, but regard ourselves as God regards us, as sanctified. And that's something that we need to understand, and I think is important and encouraging, and um as he says here, that they would loathe themselves. That's important that we would regard our sin and mourn our sin and regard ourselves as lowly and him as high, um, and and regard ourselves as in need of deliverance um in him as the deliverer. So he tells them, Um, then shall ye remember your own evil ways? Because a dead alien sinner doesn't regard their own evil ways, they don't consider themselves as evil, they just consider their needs and their wants and the desires of their flesh, and they don't consider um it in comparison to anything, but are only of themselves. He says, I'm gonna create a new um heart within you and and put my spirit within you, and you're gonna regret and mourn your sin. Um then shall you remember your own evil ways and your doings that were not good, and shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations. Not for your sakes do I this, saith the Lord God. Be it known unto you, be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel. Um so he's talking, he's teaching them about regeneration. He's teaching them, this is a picture of something that is pointing toward um what is revealed in the latter times through Jesus Christ about regeneration and what the apostle Paul has taught us, that we are regenerated through the work of God, through his election, through the shed and finished work of Jesus Christ, through his shed blood. Um and just as he said in the 17th chapter of John that he sanctified himself, that um we might be sanctified through his truth. And as others do teach and believe, we should mortify the deeds of the flesh. We are commanded to do those things as good disciples. Um that's something that how we would more commonly refer to that idea that discipleship and godliness that we would mortify the deeds of the flesh, put on um the new man, put off the old man. Um, and certainly we should. And certainly we mature throughout our our walk, throughout our lives, we mature as children of God. We we learn more and we press in through his strength. We rely on him more and more, and and hopefully uh we do become better throughout our lives, but we can never make ourselves perfect, we can never meet the mark, we can never um do those things. So, how then um does his promise become accomplished? How do we obtain unto salvation? How do we do those things? We don't. We don't do those things, we can't do those things. Even the good that we do, we do because he has given us the will and the ability to do it. Um that comes from God and by his grace. So back in the 10th chapter of Hebrews, in the 10th verse, he says, by the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all, and every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God, from henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected forever them that are sanctified. Wherefore the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us, for after that he said before, this is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws in their hearts, and in their minds will I write them, and their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. Now, where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. Um, so he has sanctified us through his election, he has sanctified us through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, that washing of clean water, putting his spirit within us, he has purified us, and he regards us as holy. God remembers your sin no more. When he looks upon you, he sees his son, his only begotten Jesus Christ. He sees us with the righteousness of Christ imputed to us. And we regard ourselves as he told those Israelites, we are ashamed of our evil ways. We're ashamed of our evil works and the things that we have done. Um, but he regards you as holy. When he looks upon you, his dear child, his beloved, he looks upon you and he sees you with the righteousness of Christ. He sees you washed whiter than snow with the shed blood of Jesus Christ. That's how he sees you. That's how we should regard each other as children of God. Not that we are of our own accord, but for his holy name's sake, that you are saved by grace, that you are his child, redeemed by God, the Father, by the Son, Jesus Christ, and you have the Spirit of God within you. We should redeem and love each other the way that God loves us. We I know we can't obtain to that perfect love that He has in this life, but we should redeem others, or we should esteem others higher than ourselves. Um certainly we regret and we are ashamed of our sin. Um one thing about this is you know, we pray, and we should, and we're commanded to pray, and to confess our sins. Um when we pray, we often pray to for God to forgive our sins. Um that's something when I was a child that I kind of didn't understand. Well, I thought we just heard a whole sermon about how our sins are forgiven, that the work is accomplished. Why why am I praying that he forgive my sins? He already we just said he already did it, so why am I praying for some of him to do something he's already done? Well, it comes into the renewing of our minds, the the cleansing of our conscience. Um, just as in the Old Testament um they did those sacrifices. Um, it wasn't to purify them once for all, that's why they had to keep doing it. Um but I know that my sins are eternally forgiven. What I need to do is I need to sanctify myself. And we are commanded to sanctify ourselves. It's a complicated and deep subject, and I'm not doing it justice. Um, but we are sanctified by God eternally. We are at sanctify, He chose us before the foundation of the world. He purified us with the shed blood of Jesus Christ, and he regards us through the finished work of Christ as holy. Um, we are sanctified by God and by the Holy Spirit. But we are also commanded to sanctify ourselves, um, to put off the old man, to put on the new man. We need to cleanse our conscience. We need to pray to God that he would forgive our sins, allow us to cleanse our conscience and regard ourselves the way that he regards us. We are to be sanctified. That means to not be used for any common purpose. We're not, we're not um, we're peculiar people. We're set aside for the purpose of Christ, for publishing his great name and for um being an epistle, being a letter through through our work, through all manner, be holy in all manner of conversation, um, through our actions, our deeds, our words, everything that we do, we are his. It's not just that we set ourselves aside on Sunday morning when we come into this beautiful building here. That's not the only time that we sanctify ourselves. We we are sanctified and we should be sanct, we should sanctify ourselves through everything that we do. When we go to work, um, when we have, you know, do whatever you're doing out in the world, you're to be a peculiar people. You're to be sanctified and set aside, not for any common purpose. Everything we do other things. Like I go to work and I I have a duty, I have missions and things that I am responsible for at work. Um, I have a duty to be a good husband and a good father. Um, but we do these things not as men pleasers, but as service to God. Our whole duty, our whole, it says Ecclesiastes, the whole duty of man is to fear God and keep his commandments. That is our whole duty. We are not for to do anything other than serve God. You can do that in each and every way, every moment of your life, you can do that. Um we sanctify Sunday mornings, right? We sanctify this day as a day that we are to come meet together, to forsake not the assembling of ourselves together as the manner of some is, but we we come together to worship God because that's the way he commanded us to do it. He commands us to come together and to sing praises unto him and to for ministers to preach the word and for us to pray. That's the New Testament worship service. That's what we're supposed to do. That's what he's commanded us to do. We we sanctify ourselves in that way, but not just now. We regard every day as a day that you can serve the Lord. Regard yourself as a servant of his. Cleanse your mind and pray to God that he would cleanse your mind and your conscience of your evil deeds, that you can not let them beset you, that you can move forward, that you can go forward and obtain and go and strive to meet the mark. Um you know, he in Romans 12 You know, we we we pray and we we we teach often and preach about total depravity and and how our righteousness is as filthy rags, and and those things are true and good to remember and to preach about. Like it reminds us that we rely on his grace. That's why we talk about it so much. That we put the emphasis on God, not of ourselves. When we talk about sanctification, we talk mainly about the sanctification of the Spirit through the work of God. Um, but it is not to say that we don't have a duty, that we don't have a need, that we don't have any action to take. Um, 12th chapter of Romans, I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice holy and acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. It's a reasonable thing for God to expect you. After all the things that we talked about, he's done for you, and he's created, put a fleshy heart into your bodies, that he's um put his spirit within you, washed you with clean, he's done those things. It's a reasonable thing for him to expect you to present your body a living sacrifice. We talked about sacrifice as part of that family of words from that that root of sanctification, that if you're gonna be a sacrifice, you you're set aside. You're set aside. And it's not a sacrifice of death, but it's a sacrifice of life that we would live for him, we are his bought with the price. Um so we would present our bodies a sacrifice holy, complete, purified, and and completely devoted to the service of God. And it would be acceptable to him. Now we can't present ourselves acceptable without the righteousness of Christ. Which is it's a reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world. So if you're going to be if the the um I guess potential, that's the word I'm looking for. If there's a potential for you to be conformed to the world, that means you're not of the world. Right? If you're gonna be conformed to the world, then that means you aren't there already. To be conformed to something, you have to be something else. And we are something else. We are in the world, but we're not of the world. So say he's telling them to not be conformed to the world. Don't don't change, don't act like that. Don't don't be, don't look at the people in the world and the way that they go about life and conform yourselves to that to get along. We you can go through the Old Testament, through judges and kings and see how where that got them. It is not what we are called to do, it's not our purpose, and it won't go well. Do not be conformed to the world, be that peculiar people. It says, and be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. So be transformed through the renewing of your mind, through that prayer and confession of your sin, to pray to God that he would cleanse your conscience, be trans, renew your mind every day. Be not beset by your sin, but strive to God and go boldly under the throne of grace and um study and learn and press into his service and pray for understanding, pray for strength, pray um in all manners and for all things, pray to God and renew your minds that you might prove or um show what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. For I say, through the grace given unto me to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. Um God has dealt you the measure of faith. Exercise your faith, go to him in prayer, um, go to him in praise, go to assemble ourselves together and seek him continually, without ceasing, um, sanctify ourselves. We can't, we are sanctified by God through his election, through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, um, and we are regarded through the finished work of Christ as holy. God regards you as his child. Um, and we should regard God and his great name and regard him as holy and regard each other and ourselves as he regards us, as his, his children, and and seek to sanctify ourselves, to be good disciples of God, to prove what is that good, um, acceptable will of God. I thank you for your kind attention. If you gained anything from my efforts this morning, give God the honor and praise.
