SPEAKER_01

Well, guys, we want to tell you, you know, we we appreciate all the shares. We appreciate all the ratings and reviews and comments. Hit five stars on us on iTunes. Make fun of Brian's jeans. They're not that short, really. It's my they're scooting up.

SPEAKER_02

It's still something to make fun of.

SPEAKER_01

You know, YouTube's been a good pace too. We've got a lot of people watching on YouTube and checking them out, so we appreciate the reviews there too, guys.

SPEAKER_02

What's going on? Why is LinkedIn starting to play all kinds of noise now?

SPEAKER_00

Everybody turn your sound down if you're trying to scroll.

SPEAKER_02

Dude, I'm telling you. Well, I'm on LinkedIn. Like, why do we have people's faces with little sound bites behind them?

SPEAKER_01

Twitter has gone to Well, they're trying to um Twitter been gone. People have been gone use all my gigs on Twitter. Link to Twitter. Still post things, but they want it to look like the other platforms too. Get people to understand they're all for like different things. They're different things.

SPEAKER_02

LinkedIn's basically become my new form of email. My executives pay more attention to their messaging than the email messaging.

SPEAKER_01

You can only pay so much attention to some of these, so honestly, I have really I don't even pay attention to Twitter X, whatever anymore. I don't either. And um and honestly, too, the reason another big reason why I don't pay attention to it is just because of its awkward platform for me for the posting. I mean, Twitter for me is just like one run-on sentence. And it's because you can't you gotta make it really shorter. So I mean Twitter's gotta be a lot more about like one-liners and captions and things like that.

SPEAKER_00

Twitter used to be the greatest when we didn't have all these streaming services and everybody watched TV live together, like Game of Thrones, like on a Sunday night. Twitter was electric.

SPEAKER_02

So everybody's on the same page?

SPEAKER_00

Everybody was like watching at the same time and like live reacting at the same time. It was amazing. Like, but yeah, then it became X, and I'm like, man, it's we just need to bring back the bird on there. Like, just bring back this X is stupid. Like yeah.

SPEAKER_02

If I spend any time on anything without going nuts, it's LinkedIn because people don't act like they're on Facebook.

SPEAKER_00

They're like, oh, this is a cleaner version of Facebook. It's a it's a more it's a more prim and proper Facebook.

SPEAKER_02

Unless you snooze people on Facebook, you get all your friends that can't keep a job.

SPEAKER_01

I don't pay attention to LinkedIn really either, because it's like everyone's like doing fake business. I mean, is anything really happening there? I don't know. Maybe it is. It's a personality type. So I think if you look at the social media platforms, really whoever created them, whoever had the most hand in the creation of it, it's most of probably the way they demonstrate their personality. If you look at it, like even with Twitter, even though Elon didn't create that, he chose to buy it for a reason. I think it has a lot more to do with how he likes to socialize or interact. It's very straightforward. One-liners, captions, facts for the most part. Facebook's more like telling your whole story, your whole life. It might be a sentence, but it could be 75 paragraphs of why you went to the bathroom. And people think people read it. Of why you went to the bathroom. And then Instagram clearly is which I do love Instagram. The thing I hate about Instagram the most, honestly, just process-wise, is it doesn't highlight links. Yeah. So it sucks because when you want to link, you have to literally only use the stories. Um, which is cool because Twitter, I mean, then Instagram's linking opportunity inside the stories is way better than Facebook's.

SPEAKER_02

When it shares over to Facebook.

SPEAKER_01

It's cool. So it's just weird, like the little crazy things that each one of them does different. Why they don't just wake up one one morning and go, we could all just do the same thing. With like an hour worth of programming, every single one of them could make every single one of them's platform do the very same thing. And I'm always wondering, like, why don't you? They're fighting for time with people's eyeballs.

SPEAKER_02

Which is why I hate most of the platforms now, too, because you can't you're not supposed to, you can't really use AI to kind of create presence. I think that they're great. You can create some conversations, but from a marketing standpoint, it's really good for branding. It's just hard to automate because they keep like clapping your hand because they want you to not work or make any money and stay on their platform.

SPEAKER_01

I think TikTok, you know, funny thing about TikTok, honestly, if you know, I use it the least, just because I don't make like lots of videos, and really you need to probably be doing more videos than anything if you're gonna use TikTok, which I just don't. I need to probably figure out how to do it and do it more, but it's probably the best one for that.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, yeah, short videos and uh like I mean that's how TikTok was created though. It was like I I mean I'm 33 and I don't really use TikTok hardly at all. Like, I have one, but it's like cool. It's mainly so my friends can send me stupid stuff that I can watch, but like I don't I don't like sit on there and scroll. Like I I can scroll on Instagram for damn near the only 10 hours.

SPEAKER_02

The only reason I have an Instagram is because of funny videos that I watch, like a portion of a afternoon with my son.

SPEAKER_00

It's so me and Brian. Some funny call videos dumb some dumb stuff.

SPEAKER_02

I think I'm that's there's a whole there's a whole video series called Why Why Women Live Longer, and it's just young men doing what 10 of them do when they get together.

SPEAKER_01

I'm just impressed by the quality, honestly. If you're just like literally looking at something and trying to grade it and critique it, people that I see on TikTok, just from a pure grading standpoint, it's pretty good. Like the amount of talent and just um personality that the human race has is unbelievable. You're super serious.

SPEAKER_02

You notice Brian's like super seriously. Thinking of this morning at like 9.30.

SPEAKER_00

I don't see Brian at 9.30 very often, so uh this is like new, this is new territory for me, dog.

SPEAKER_01

I've got kids at my house. The same things always happen. They just don't have to be anywhere until the time. Like Sophia gets dropped off at 9. That's what I tell people today, you need to do this and when you do that in the morning. I'm like, drive all the way to town, drive back, do this, do that. No, I'm good. I'll just have a routine to where it makes sense to not drive a hundred thousand miles.

SPEAKER_02

You know what I'm putting four signing and then jumping into a cold plunge, then rucking 10 miles, then waiting 40 minutes to eat your breakfast, then having 20 ounces of water with lemon, and putting your red light therapy on. Oh, the blanket.

SPEAKER_00

That sounds a lot. That sounds like a lot. I mean it tells you. I woke up at 4 45 this morning and just went to the gym and then ran three miles, and I I thought that was a lot, but I do have a lot of that.

SPEAKER_01

Like I have a face routine for you. We know. We know we saw that. We know.

SPEAKER_00

We we've been to Vegas with you. Yeah, it's it travels. I did get up.

SPEAKER_02

I walked in with my wife on a vacation, and I walked into our bathroom. There's like these little bitty round things and some tubes. Like Brian's with that is like that's my face routine.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we we were in Vegas, and I was like, why are there so many bottles in here, dog? Like, I got four in my whole dop kit. Like, what are we doing? Like, there's 26 bottles over here of stuff.

SPEAKER_01

I get up, I get about the same time still. Um, this morning felt like a DoorDash day for three natives. So I did that. I got spinny chairs in the living room.

SPEAKER_00

When is it a DoorDash day for three natives? Because I swear the last 18 days I've seen you, you have some random DoorDash man at 3 p.m. picking up uh picking up some DoorDash for you.

SPEAKER_02

Tara got a is there a kind call that starts with a D. It's in like like does, it's in a silver bag. I don't know. Mine's rising.

SPEAKER_01

Um, I'm sure it's all the same. Hers tasted like dirt. Oh, mine didn't. Like hot dirt. That's what it tastes like.

SPEAKER_02

Or she put a little creamer in it. And it says all this stuff on the packet. I'm like, they all do though. Like if it did this stuff, it'd be worth drinking dirt. But I don't feel better. If you want to talk about mushroom coffee, you usually put a little creamer.

SPEAKER_00

Talk about my talk to my brother over.

SPEAKER_01

Well, mushroom coffee, the the main thing about mushroom coffee is just like it just to clean you out. That's its main goal. So you're super clean? Yeah, of course. Good. Thinking about the Instagram thing the other day, I was just thinking, it it cycles the Celsius out of your blood.

SPEAKER_00

Um the cocaine Celsius.

SPEAKER_02

My algorithm is so jacked up. He drinks that orange Celsius, and uh, you can see the red blood vessels just start throwing up inside of his body. They just drweak. They hate orange too. You know how easy it is to check out of this world?

SPEAKER_01

AI just drive one nuts. The other day, um Charlie and Sophia were watching a TV show. They just started watching a show together.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

So Amy and I sit on the back porch. We were talking about something for a second. Literally one and a half hours go by of us sending Instagram reels back and forth. Sitting next to each other? With three feet in between us because they're so funny. It's like it's sitting here like this, and I'm looking at it, and then you see us both going and we're just laughing and just sending them back and forth. Sometimes it's the video, and you can't see it or start over or whatever. But we just sending them back and forth, and I got to thinking, but you know what's crazy about that is not to shift too hard into because it wasn't like what I'm about to say it is, but people act like there is nothing they can do to hang out or to do stuff, and there are always other things. We sit there and laughed and talked about those for an hour and a half just because it's funny. We like to laugh. So I'm like, you get me with comedy. That's like my deal. I can look, I can watch stand-up comedy, I can look at funny things like that, go to shows, I love comedy shows, and just be happy as a lark for multiple hours. And I was talking to a guy the other night who's just struggling, and he was like, We just have nothing in common, and we we don't ever do anything. And I'm like, is there anything that you guys do that is similar that you like to do? And so he named this thing they both like to do, and I'm like, well, why can't you do that one? And he's like, Well, you know, I just kind of like to do it the way I like to do it, and I'm like, So you're telling me you found something in common and you can't engage with her and do this very same thing to create an opportunity. Who cares what everyone else says about it? If she likes to do it and you like to do it, blend those together and spend time. It doesn't matter what other people think about it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Who cares? I mean, there's so many couples that like they'll go to the gym or like whatever, like when you go when you go to the gym at 5 30, 6 a.m., like they're the same 40 people in the gym every day. Right. Like it's same it's the same people. And they don't want to talk, it's fantastic. Nobody's trying to talk, nobody's trying to do stuff, but like you I see the the couples that walk in and I'm like, man, that's awesome. Like, proud of them. Proud of them for like coming and doing it. But like, yeah, find a find a partner with your that's how your blood works. Find an interest with your partner and go do those things because it is beneficial for your marriage to if it's not late going to the gym, cool. Like, if it's walking the dog, great. Like, whatever. If it's making breakfast, if it's cooking, whatever. Like, find something to connect every day.

SPEAKER_02

I see both sides of it. First of all, tell the dude to quit being negative. Because in like two seconds, you sales process to him. He's like, he threw out this big objection, this is why his life sucks with his wife, and you asked a specific, and then he gave you the real reason. Told you they do like something, he just doesn't want to do it with her. So he's just negative about everything. That kind of that's your fault. But I went to work out with Tara in like our first year of marriage, and she would yawn between sets and like do other things, and it was driving me nuts. Especially when I'm it was funny. So she's 30 and I was 24 or 25.

SPEAKER_01

And so is that microphone picking him up? I'm just wondering, under your beard, it's like a whole different world under there. It is, but but sound travels through it.

SPEAKER_00

He got gnomes and stuff under there. Like there's like a garden under there.

SPEAKER_02

I will say my daughter was walking around. My daughter was gold treasure box. And she's the only one that can touch my beard. So she's like grabbed my beard and like shoved a little pencil or something in it, and I didn't know. And I found it before bed. Did that come out? No, it was just a like a little short pencil. I was like, oh, it's still stuck in my beard. That's hilarious. I was gonna say and it picks up my pencil. Yeah, when I get done eating, dude, I go in the bathroom and I shake out. Like if you ever had your dog come inside being wet, I just shake my face off and hope everything comes out.

SPEAKER_01

God, I thought that was going a different direction. Like, shake out. Like, are you talking about number two? You're going number two?

SPEAKER_02

You don't have to shake when you have that much Celsius in you, Brian.

SPEAKER_01

I think it vibrates your whole body. In my house right now, at any given time, you can hear a little kid screaming from any number of bathrooms about coming to wipe me. Like legacy is at that place now to where he's trying to convince you he doesn't know how to wipe his butt yet because no one showed him, even though we have. And he's always like, come on, wipe me. Yeah, it's a little voice in the back. Which bathroom are you in, dude? You keep moving around in the house. It's funny, our daughter does the same thing.

SPEAKER_02

So she's four years older now, and she'll be like, She won't ever yell for dad. If mom's in the house, she goes, mom, like, you know, what do you want? Just silence. Silence, because dad won't give it to her.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, trust me. If there was a mom in the house right now, I would be deaf. I wouldn't hear a word of that. I'd be like, maybe she'll hear it in a minute. Like, maybe they'll be here because I'm busy. I'm mowing. At least you're honest. Sorry, my mowing and doing it.

SPEAKER_00

Brian hasn't mowed his yard in freaking ten years. He hasn't mowed his yard in ten years. Also, praise report. Let's go. Three years.

SPEAKER_02

You bought turf a minute ago. By the way, did you see that? He did like put a grill out and it's all turf, so it never has to be.

SPEAKER_01

Hey, come on. Three years later, the pool people have installed the blower that makes the hot tub bubble. Like three years later. Oh, like jets? Yeah, finally. Finally. Finally.

SPEAKER_00

Rather than rather than a uh standing still algae pond, you now have a visual hot tub that works.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my gosh. It's awesome too. Um, I just I've that's all I've ever wanted was that's the only reason why I even got um a hot tub was for that. And so that finally happened. I was just so happy about having it. Um I wanted to talk real quick about um also in the news, right? We were talking about stretching it out. Oh, I haven't seen that happen. Yeah, it looks it looks right. I had one the other day that had me just looking like amazing. I was like, yes, I'll take that picture. So we talked about the fun thing.

SPEAKER_00

We're talking about stretching what out right now the photo. Okay, because I am like we had to stretch it out. I'm like, no, no, no. This is gonna go very poorly if we're not on the same page here.

SPEAKER_02

Welcome to 10 a.m. in the morning, people. This is why we never do a podcast early.

SPEAKER_01

We talked about everybody has no energy on uh Sunday. You know, we were talking about which were autos were coming up. It was it was really good, and I think it was one of the best displays of respect and just presentation in general that we've had in a really long time. People can GF on all the other complaints that they have about it. Um because I'll guarantee you, all the military members that were doing the walkouts and helping with everything probably got on a volunteer wait list like a million people long. So everyone that was talking junk is stupid. But but one thing, because the elephant in the room, and I think everyone's already, as far as like the UFC and the president, everybody's already addressed it, but I think that Josh Hockett had such an opportunity the other night, because he's a crazy personality, he's doing weird stuff, saying weird stuff. I get the whole WWE thing, it's what it is. But he had an opportunity after a blazing win the other night, looking really good for a heavyweight to win over a huge market of people, a huge crowd of people, by just doing what he was already doing. You know, the whole, I don't know if you guys heard the press conference, he was acting like he was so shy and being weird and interrupting the whole pot, the whole deal.

unknown

Was he the one that's getting the stuff out of his mouth?

SPEAKER_01

Probably. He was fake throwing up. He was acting like he was drunk. He was acting like he was drunk for the weigh-ins, just being a nerd, just being Ric Flair. But it's all WWE and all that's fine. I think he's he's doing his version of Connor and it's and it works for for what it is, because I mean, when it comes to sports this day and age, I mean, the people that understand it's also entertainment just make more money. That's all there is to it.

SPEAKER_02

I mean Well, I can tell you, well, in the world of social media, if you listen to a press conference and you're hoping, like you watch NASCAR, and half the people that don't understand NASCAR want somebody to wreck. So if I'm gonna listen to a bunch of guys sit at a desk and talk that should be fighting, you're hoping they're gonna throw something at each other, somebody's gonna have a temper tantrum. That sometimes happens. What Josh Hockett does is make sure something's thrown and there's a temper tantrum for like 10 people.

SPEAKER_01

Well, and he's he said this one the other day. This was this line right here was great. He actually got me on this one because I was just kind of listening to it and I was like, okay, you got me. He says, you know, he's telling Ely, he's like, Taporia, you're you know, you're still my favorite fighter, but but but I think that Alex Pereira probably chops up your food and feeds it to you like a bird, like spits it into your mouth because you're he's so small. He's really just talking a bunch of junk to him the whole time. Stay in that vein, dude. But after the fight the other night, instead of just staying in the vein of fighting, going after the other fighters and talking junk, which is plenty of material, plenty of material to do that with, he has to go down with the Michelle Obama and look like a man thing. And I just thought, man, never you ever gonna hear me say that I was voting for Obama and I mean mostly didn't agree with a lot of it. Um, not the worst president we've ever had at the same time, not my guy, at the same time as that people's inability to respect people in certain positions, no matter how they believe or think, is crazy to me because at the minimum, our jobs is to impact and influence lives, and how are we supposed to do that if we can't just show a basic minimum respect for people, whether we agree with them or not? You know what I mean? There's the ultimate goal is still access. And if you treat people like junk, there is no access, so there is no purpose to have. So at the end of the day, you're just a another human, you know, peeing on everything, and that's fine if that's the way you want to do it. But for men that are Christians are supposed to be, we make mistakes, of course, but if we remember ultimately access as the only way to our goal, what are we doing doing stuff like that? And I think disrespecting anyone sucks, but to disrespect um a former president is Bush League, and I also think that to disparage um some woman that's been in some kind of a power situation or leadership role is Bush League too. I mean, that that particular nonsense belongs on Saturday Night Live or something to where these guys and girls on Saturday Night Live can get away with this, right? They get to take shots. Not there. I mean, we're in front of the White House. I just didn't like it. I I think that going after a woman of of of one of color, also that's had some authority and power like that, wasn't anything that I don't think I would want my daughter to see, because number one, my daughter is mixed, my daughter has color on her. Um my daughter might look at Michelle Obama as someone that's uh some there's something inspiring there. You know, and Sophia doesn't know politics yet, she doesn't know anything, and ultimately she doesn't need to. She's 12. The I can be anything, but it's a woman who's got some authority and influence, and she might look at her and identify with that. The last thing I want is some dork disparaging her, or any other woman.

SPEAKER_00

And let's let's be honest. So, Michelle Obama, say what you want to say about her politics. Great. I don't care what you want to say. She never had scandals, she was never bad mouthing her husband in public, like it feels like she's a pretty classy human being. I mean, that's that's an outsider's point of view of like okay, super supportive of her husband, like stuff like that, and like nothing outrageous, nothing outrageous, there was no scandals, there was no nothing, and I was like, okay, cool. Like, you can say what you want to say about her beliefs or politics or anything like that, but like in public, she was pretty upstanding.

SPEAKER_02

I think there's a couple things that stand out to me. One, uh, and the biggest for me, because I've had people ask me about this, because there was a lot of of great things that happened Sunday. Actually, there's so there's three things a lot of great things that happened Sunday. Almost everything else was great, was great, and then people were upset that it's about the White House. So again, I I posted the other day, like we could talk about a lighthouse, and people are gonna stand around and argue about a light bulb. Go to a white to a lighthouse and argue about the light bulb, and so people are just attacking because they were already mad about something. So you it's your inability to have a conversation at all. You're in your child brain, you're destroying everything you're touching or saying. Just just shut up. Um, so that was a a problem. The other problem was that I I very much disliked was he talked about Jesus Christ. And then right after he talked about Jesus Christ, he said, Hey, but popularity and money in the world, I'm willing to do anything for myself to stand out. So Jesus is at a minimum second in my life, if not further back.

SPEAKER_01

And because Jesus wouldn't have done that.

SPEAKER_02

No. Well, not even Jesus wouldn't have done that, like the two statements that. Don't belong a hundred miles from each other. One was attacking another human being and tearing them down and communicating a lie at their expense, but the overall goal was for him to go viral. It's the only reason he said it. And so I will do anything to anybody else to take care of myself.

SPEAKER_01

And it probably worked. Yeah. That's the crazy part about our society is the, I mean, we're sitting here talking about it a little bit, of course, just because I yeah. I hated the fact that he ruined such a great night with it. Because I mean, the other thing is now all the other people have to go to work on it, you know, right? So right, but right after he wins, you guys might have noticed the camera panned over and he gave Trump his, you know, big like necklace thing. Like a gift. Well, in that moment, it's fine. Well, then he does that. People didn't notice because they didn't pan the screens over and notice it, but Trump actually took it off and tossed it over on the desk. I mean, Trump actually made a statement on it too. You know, that's not what we're gonna do. And Dana made statements too, like I he's big on free speech. Everyone hates that. But something that Dana White does is with the those guys who are independent contractors, is he's always let them talk how they talk, you know, because in the fight business, too, there's a certain amount of promotion. People are like, oh, they don't do it in the other sports. Well, number one, first of all, miss me with that because the NFL and the NBA may they may not have free speech and talk, but they make plenty of messes all over the place with their lifestyles. I mean, the NBA is a trash can of just wearable it's funded by the media.

SPEAKER_00

Let's talk about the it the NFL and the NBA for a second. We got dudes that are like itching to just do bad stuff after they sign like mega deals. Like, there's a hilarious video that's out there that's like he's like a guy, he's like he's like, what are you guys gonna go do? And he's like, I'm gonna go like beat my girlfriend up after I just signed this supermax contract, or like I'm gonna go like whatever. And he's like, Because that's what happens, like all these guys get these like $150 million guaranteed contracts, and they're like going to massage parlors and like whatever, and it's like coming out that like 47 mm therapists have like but filed a lawsuit against him. Like, come on.

SPEAKER_02

Well, and the the piss poor part about all of it, like this whole UFC thing, right? Is uh I saw a couple media articles that came up, and so Josh Hockett walks over and gives Trump a necklace right early. Fight happens, he brings up Jesus, which he never should have, because he doesn't he doesn't walk it out at all. And then he slanders uh Michelle Obama, right? Says something distasteful, only to go viral. And the media shows him saying it and then shows him giving Trump the necklace. So they frame everything. They should be stuck on an island together and let each let each other devour each other. You're you're so lost and worthless. Then when you bring up the NBA and NFL, and everybody knows this, they'll do something distasteful like that, or just like Disney. They'll whoever's at the top will be like, nope, we're all gonna attack Jesus, everybody has to kneel. Whatever the thing that's going on that month is, we're in. Screw everybody else, screw what you actually believe. Players, you're nothing but cattle. Do exactly what I say if you want to be here, and the media will promote that and say, This is the greatest organization ever. You have to start seeing this stuff for what it is and how terrible it is. The other thing that's sad is half the Michelle Obama stuff being promoted. You know why it goes viral? Other people want you to see their feed.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So they're using the same distasteful, crappy stuff to try to try to get their money and get their likes up.

SPEAKER_01

I just didn't like it. I thought it was Bush League. I thought, you know what I really thought? So he got the zinger in right, and he got a bunch of attention for a little bit. I think it'll fade. What he missed was an unbelievable opportunity to actually create a um something else that he could keep tying on to. You know what I mean? Like his his zingers at the press conference were good and welcomed. He that brings eyeballs. Because you can't bring this one back up, it's dead. Yeah. There's nothing else to tie this on to. So to me, it's a big fail, dude. You know, you miss an opportunity to you you just beat a a freaking knockout artist of a heavyweight. You owned him, really. Yeah, you just completely owned him. Took it to, you know, now you need to build into a fight that's even bigger than that. You can get a bigger name. I would have been ready to, you know, because the best of the best of promoters, and this is what's crazy about guys that are in fighting that can still do this, is when you're done and you can still do your thing. Like Gagey goes grueling rounds and still does his backflip thing and beating the biggest thing. I thought he was gonna fall off the top of the reef. This dude's gonna break something eventually doing this, but he does it at the end of being completely exhausted. That's his thing, that's his stamp on things. Well, Hockett could have had prep prepared just a freaking zing on who have you wanted next. And that would have been the thing he could have kept building on and building on trash that guy, trash his mom, trash, do all those things, the jokes, but to go the way he went, I thought was just a big, really just a big loss.

SPEAKER_02

You gotta ask the question at what point have you sold yourself out for the stick? Like you're not you don't even know who Josh Hockett is anymore. He's about to have a stick.

SPEAKER_00

And it was, yeah, like you said though, Brian, he could have like gone on to bigger things, but it was like, cool, I want one moment. And like, dude, you could have like had a title fight.

SPEAKER_02

You also could have said something really sincere and meaningful, right? And then gone right back to your stick on who you want to fight next. Right. And just started poking at him.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I don't I mean, I don't know. It's it's just he was it was weird. I was just like super weird, like his whole demeanor all weekend for like I don't watch as many fights as you guys.

SPEAKER_02

I didn't think it was weird at all. I thought, hey, that dude wants to go viral, and he's willing to do anything that he has to do to do it.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, and I and I see that like looking back on it, but I'm like, from an outsider, like I don't watch as many fights as you guys do, but like from a person who could be a potential, like this could be a hook weekend into fighting, it was like damn, like, do I want to be around and associated with like something like that? Like, no, like no, but you have to I think they had a cool event, it was on the White House alone, it was freaking cool, like and you have this moment of like just like kind of hatred and stupidity to like overshadow a lot of it because that's what people were talking about, rather than like you know, Justin Gagey, like which we who we watched fight a few months ago to get that title opportunity. Like he went four rounds and like battered that dude. It'll be the best fight you've seen. It was awesome, like it was amazing. And it was just like but it's like overshadowed by like this dumb stuff, right? I think there's a challenge to really could have like elevated the sport in a lot of people's minds.

SPEAKER_01

I just think you can be you can be funny and promote without taking such a sharp shot at someone. I I've actually never really been into the um when they go after like the families and the kids and stuff. Even when, you know, Connor's done it and other guys, there's just a lot of material. I don't know that I love um the family zingers. I'm really not super in love um with the religion zingers because what it ends up doing is it takes something that's like a fight promotion and turns it into you know, there's promoting a fight and then there's promoting like pure violence. Yeah. Well, where I'm challenged on that is if you know getting fighting on TV and in places legally took years and tons of fighting, um, governments and all kinds of people for it. And I kind of get it. Back then it was extremely hard to see for some people. It's very much not that now, especially at the higher level. It's very controlled. Doctors are everywhere, they have a hundred checks. I mean, they do everything they can to make it as controlled chaos as they can. But when you leave the competitive arena and turn it into that, it almost to me makes it more of like Street Fight-esque. And I think that that's when we get we turn the page into like a weirder place, like when Connor was going after um the Muslim faith with those guys back in the day. I'm like, I don't know that I love that. You went way too far. It because again, when we start to think about us, I mean, we make all the mistakes in the world too, but we access. You know what it caused? A lot of violence. It caused violence. He got beat up by like five people. It was at one it made it too much of a thing, you know, and then people want to start getting weird with weapons, maybe, and I don't know. I just I think it's dumb, and then we start to think about purpose in our lives and stuff. Well, if access again, if access is what you need to actually have relationship with people to have any amount of connection or influence in life, you've you've cut it. So when I start to think about platforms for people at that such a high level, I mean I still think you've got to try to remember that your ultimate goal is access with the crowd. And I would even think access with the people you're competing with and against. You can still promote a fight without it having to get too personal. Um, and I know a lot of people are gonna disagree with that, but I think the people that disagree with that have either haven't felt or thought about the consequences of handling things the wrong way. You know, they haven't been on the wrong end of handling it, going too far. So for them, it still lies within the entertainment bubble. When for a lot of people that have felt the consequences or seen what it does, they've actually felt it and they know that, hey, there is there is a too far. There, there absolutely is a too far when we start talking about even bring it all the way down micro into like friendships with like potentially like sarcasm or whatever, you know. I would certainly be guilty at times for sure of you know going right across the line with someone, you never know that maybe they're dealing with something and it's heavy on them, and maybe they're laughing, but it's not good for them. You know, we've got to watch you lose access.

SPEAKER_02

Well, the whole sticks and stones may be may break my bones, but words will never hurt me is a lie. Words cut, they hurt, and they when they're recorded, they last. I think that you're right too, and you know this in marketing. Um people will remember an event by the highest high or the lowest low. And they're associating the UFC with what one person's freedom of speech.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I mean, the highest high, the lowest low is so totally right. In a world of like clipped everything, like everything is clipped, like it's either the greatest or the worst that's shown.

SPEAKER_02

Well, and and a lot of the people that have an opinion, they don't know what the UFC is about or what it does. Yeah. Same thing when you talk about Jesus and we talk about the Bible, is so many people are mad at God for human sin. And just because somebody claims God, but they do nothing according to God's word, so they're not an actual Christian, um, they they place that on on God without knowing anything about the Bible. And we it's weird when we talk about like the Muslim religions and things like that. When's a time that somebody mout off about a religion where they actually picked up their book and found out like learned anything about them? Right? And I can still like dislike and disagree with some things religiously, but especially when it comes to Christianity, when you're talking about so Josh Gossett, right? Or uh not Josh. When you're talking about um Hockett and he says he's he's a believer, and everybody's like, see, that's all Christians. Well pick up the Bible and read it. You can then you go, oh, he doesn't he doesn't live out Christianity at all.

SPEAKER_01

Well and you don't have to be perfect. I just think I just think that he made a very obvious mistake the other night that you know didn't line up with what his previous statements were about his faith. You know, we're not saying the guy isn't gonna make some mistakes. I'm just saying maybe the obvious one is what would almost make me wonder what was really going on heart position-wise for him, because we all mess up. I mess up as much as anyone, I say the wrong thing and regret it, or I have to rewind it a little bit. But I think part of living out your belief system is your ability to display heart position um in your actions and then in the remorse, or later going, maybe that was off. And what I felt from him post um doing it was just someone that because I think he kind of had like a little bit of an apology, but it wasn't it wasn't real at all. And in fact, it was almost more like he didn't feel like he needed to, and I thought, you know, that just told me, okay, well, that's fine. You don't have to do anything. I think I said this last week, like we were all dropped here at the same time to do whatever, and if you're not killing people or hurting people, I guess I don't get to tell you how to think, believe, what to do on certain things. So I guess technically, yeah, he could do what he did, but it certainly doesn't line up with what he said his belief system was, and his post actions didn't really line up with someone that had actually come to terms with the fact that man, that was that wouldn't it. You know, that was too far. And I guess that just tells us more about who the person is, because it's we're all gonna make these mistakes and do certain things, um, and that's fine, you know, we don't get to to judge that, but I guess where it comes down to for me is like what how does that person come across after doing it and after coming to the knowledge that they've kind of messed it up or they've kind of you know not done that right. And I think Josh is old enough now to figure that out. I know younger men, I I'll say for me, but I've met a lot of men this way. I didn't really it it wasn't until a few years ago that I didn't understand, you know, how an apology worked. And it wasn't necessarily because I didn't feel bad for what I did. I just don't think I'd ever really learned how to say that. It it seemed weird to me to say it. It was such a and and I don't think it was only me, because I like I said, I've met a lot of men this way. I don't think this is much with women, to be honest, and I think it is connected to this emotional um that they're just so much better with their emotions than us. Now, at the same time, that can be a negative for women, and the ones that will admit it are great because they can teach us about it. Men are less emotional beings, and what we end up doing is we shut down, and a part of that shutting down is also verbal for a lot of men, too. And if you get them to talk, it's not that they aren't necessarily sorry, they're just having a hard time saying that. There's such a weird feeling or trigger for a lot of men associated with apologizing, almost as if it's like giving away some of their masculinity or something. It's it's like a piece of it, but that's not true.

SPEAKER_02

No, it's not. Well, and you said it, and I immediately thought of you know, we don't ever talk about this, but we're not 20 anymore, right? Life in your 20s as a male is very hard. I mean, you're walking around and you think you have a ton of wisdom, you have none. You have a ton of energy, ton of testosterone, you feel bulletproof, but more often than not, with culture, with coaches, your identity is tied to being masculine. If I if I if I can't atta masculinity to everything that I do, I let it attack my identity. And so, Brian, like you said, one, and the other reason I think they shut down and we don't apologize, if you don't know how to do it, you're insecure and you feel like you're gonna look like a wuss doing it because you don't really understand how to do it and why. Anything a guy doesn't know how to do, well, I'll put it this way you uh played baseball, right? Did you ever play soccer?

unknown

Oh god.

SPEAKER_01

I wasn't allowed to play soccer, but sorry. I I love soccer now, but no, my dad wouldn't my dad for a couple years back in the day. He wouldn't let me play soccer. We used to joke about it, but dude, soccer is uh a great sport. Aiden plays soccer.

SPEAKER_02

I played soccer, growing up. I'm not saying soccer's for women. Yeah, Brian just said I'm not saying soccer's for women, but I believed it when I played baseball. All right, so it's I have a lot of respect for soccer players now. You're you're in college playing baseball, right? And you have a couple of the guys on the college soccer team, and they're like, hey, come play soccer with us. For that's no. No, I'm gonna lose, and I don't know what I'm doing.

SPEAKER_01

Well, and they don't stop running for an hour.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. So that's just prefer a guy one hour for almost two hours. There's a ton of insecurity for every man on the planet. When he's gonna be able to do it. No one wants to think of another man that probably knows how to do it and he doesn't.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, well, in my 20s, and this isn't a great excuse, um, but I know a lot of people that actually have this particular excuse in my 20s, coming out of the way I was raised, which I had a great mom, but there's just so many things going on in your life happening every single day that no one's really telling you about, but you're still feeling it and diagnosing it, and then kicking out actions based upon what you've lived through. And for me, I just I don't know when the button flipped on, but for me, providing and being married were the same, like that's what it was supposed to be. For me, I think we'd just been so poor, watched my mom struggle so long that for some reason that just kept adding up to me to providing, and that's just a little portion of of it. But as the young in 20s, providing was a thing. Well, then providing um gets addictive because it turns into competitive, competitive turns into like ego feeding, and then all of a sudden a few years go by, and all you really have moderately accomplished, which adds up to nothing, is more of a performative situation. Um, and I say that, but I don't think I'm unique. I think that that's one of the largest destroyers of men at a young age, is we've just been taught to perform. It's innately kind of in our blood, um, and it's a horrible excuse of messing up a lot of things, but ultimately I think a lot of men are living it. We're coming a lot of people are coming out of either divorced homes or growing up in single-parent homes. And um, what happens in single-parent homes, even when the parents are loving the kids, I've got great um relationship as it goes with kids, and they have good moms and all that kind of stuff. So it's not like that that that there's really big mistakes being made individually in situations, but still, when the kids come out of a divorce or single-parent homes, there's a little bit of an imbalance. And as they become adults through that, it it's got to tilt the scales in certain directions, and they need, I would think, some counseling, they need some help from the parents, they need help, you know, hopefully happening in their church classes and things to where it's bringing some truth to them around they don't have to do this because of that, right? You know, where mine was, and I don't my mom, it's not like my mom ever woke up one day and said, Hey, you know, your dad kind of left a little bit early, I'm having to work a bunch of jobs, you know. I want you to just kill yourself in your 20s and lose everything you have, chasing that comfort that you think is like a security from performance and winning. Because it didn't start out that way. It didn't start out, you know, I started working, it wasn't like I can't wait to destroy everything around me for a little bit to do this. That never entered my mind. It just day after day, it gets stronger and stronger, it's addictive, and all of a sudden, I think one of the most addictive things in the world for type A's or alpha style personality men is gonna be their work, you know, the things they're doing, um, the things that they have um control over labor-wise. You know, we're just weird that we look at lawns, yeah. We tire in such a weird way, but you know, men that really are into the lawn mowing thing, that's the same thing. You're just got to be, and it's because Tom's yard looks good, and the guy with the sign with the neighborhood's best yard, his looks good. And it's the same perform, it's the same performance type of thing, maybe a little less dangerous in it, but it's the same symptom.

SPEAKER_02

I think that so the challenge is, you know, one of the big things that you just said was growing up, things were hard. I watched things be hard for us, but really for my mom and my family right in front of me, because there was no provision. And so the most important thing for a family is provision. And you had to come to that conclusion on your own because in college you play baseball and they make you take humanities. And we say that the the family unit's the most important thing in the country, and we spend zero time on it for any young person across the country unless you go find it yourself. Right? I'm learning about some Greek god and somebody that was high that painted this thing, right? That's the coolest part when I got out of school. I was like, oh, these guys were all tripping in high when they did this, and I was forced to sit in class and use my time to learn it. But I didn't learn how to to manage uh communication in a family dynamic. I didn't learn what the definition of marriage was, why do we get married, anything about communication, preparing for kids, nothing about finances, but cool, cool. I remember, you know, how high this person was when they did this and painted this. And wrote this poem.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I don't know. If school is supposed supposed to prepare us for life, like well, that's the lie. Why?

SPEAKER_02

That's the slogan. School is supposed to prepare you. It's supposed to indoctrinate you. And we all know this. To work for somebody else, to create systems and wealth going for people that want to keep people from growing because they can have workers. It's a it's a it's a like a much wiser form of slavery. Where we have minds where people are are in other countries being forced to physical labor. Over here, they indoctrinate your mind so that you'll create wealth and then they get power later.

SPEAKER_01

I was gonna tell you guys, I had uh we've had a number of people that will make comments or appreciate us kind of just being real a lot of times when we're talking. I mean, and not really being afraid to like, you know, really unpack um something. I had an epiphany the other day. I was it's a big word for him.

SPEAKER_00

Brother, we use a nine-letter word.

SPEAKER_01

Right away with the nine letters, Dad? Is it really nine? Someone count it. Is it really nine letters?

SPEAKER_00

It's actually probably eight or seven or eight, but that's pretty good.

SPEAKER_01

So I'm sitting it sounded good. I'm sitting at church. And you guys know how easy it is to uh time just goes by so fast, right? And I've always thought with people, and this is us growing up in kind of a church background, even if we've been off the sled for a little bit here and there in our life, I was thinking, I'm always like, how do people ever go so long without like praying or or having conversations with God? I'm like trying to think about why can't people do that? It's just kind of happening all the time, right? Aren't you just doing it kind of off and on? And this would be more so for believers probably than the non-believer. I wouldn't expect a non-believer to have. But for a believer, you know, you're it's you're gonna get outside the lines here and there, and you're gonna be struggling half seasons or whatever. But I've always wondered, like, I can't imagine ever doing that. So I'm sitting in there, um, and Justin's doing a um kind of at the end of the service, doing kind of a quasi-alter call conversation, more so just, you know, for people to raise their hand or whatever for salvation. And I'm sitting there thinking, and I go, I think it's been maybe two weeks since I like asked for forgiveness for anything. I'm like, how do you do that? And I start to think, wow, that's how people do it. They just do it. It just you you're your uh cruise control, autopilot, any number of things. It doesn't even have to be that. It could be chaos world, you could be so busy, and then you're maybe you're living ding-da-dong because of kids in school and work and all the things. No matter what, it's such a distraction that all this time goes by and it's like you didn't take any time to ask for forgiveness for anything, and it made me think, Lord, one, how do we do that? But in two, and this is the question that may end up going into next week a little bit, is do you did you actually need to ask for forgiveness in that two-week period? If Jesus died on the cross for your sins, and you've had a constant, pretty constant, consistent relationship around talking about those things, and that that we're always gonna get this question. It's always gonna be the question, well, what if you died during that period of time? That's the question you always get, especially from the non-believer. You know, the best one is guy lives like horrible his whole life, lays on his hospital bed, and in his last two minutes of life gives his heart to the Lord.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Well, we've been told, well, the Bible tells us that that person, um, if he truly believed and accepted Jesus into his heart, asked for forgiveness and repented of his sins, that he's gonna go to heaven. People have a hard time with that. Because it's not about him at that point, it's about Jesus. Which it's a hard concept for a human. Yeah. So in that two weeks, Guy Dice has just not been too focused in on having a forgiveness conversation. I wonder what that looks like. You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's kind of well, and in two facets, you can go two places with that. You know, first being what people normally think is, well, you know, sin is against God. And so if I've sinned and I haven't asked for forgiveness, then I'm separated from God, so I can't go to heaven, right? But I I would argue there's different kinds of separation in the Bible. It's talking about a different kind of separation. But the other part of that that we can get into is back to performance. Is now I'm stuck in the loop. If I believe that line of thinking, then the only thing that matters is like it's one of your tasks to do that, danger. Yeah, is how how I how I rep. And so repent is identifying a sin in your life that's not, and it can be anger towards a person, it can definitely be Hawkett's statement. That's a sin. If he believes in Jesus, he sinned and let everybody see it. And so um I identify that, and then I bring it to the Lord, and I say, Hey, I'm gonna, I'm gonna, I wanna stop doing this. Right. Um, and Theo Vaughn had an incredible, I think we talked about it before, right? An incredible sound bit where he goes, I think I'm gonna do it again. Because yeah, how do I do this if I know I'm gonna do it again? Well, and it's through scripture. There's two parts of scripture that do the same thing. Man, God, can I invite you to where I think I'm gonna fail you? Can I invite you into what my like what I'm about to do again and will you help me? Would you see that? Would you and that's that relationship with the Lord because ultimately God is not looking at the action. And when he it's a beautiful thing to unpack, but just like with what Hockett was doing, if I get prideful, because it's his pride, right, and I won't apologize, I'm doing more harm to myself than everybody else. Because that's affecting my heart. Now, as I move forward, my heart's been affected. It's not about the action, it's about the continued belief in the actions that ultimately harden my own heart. And it makes all this stuff a new normal. That's what when you see people like drift into this chaos where they're just vicious and they hate right now. Well, the more I hate, the easier it is to hate. The more I think that just being angry is not near as bad as me doing, you know, X, Y, and Z, right? The needle has moved in my life and my heart's hardened.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, it would seem that way to me too. I I just thought it was an interesting question uh to get, because I'd actually posed this topic to someone else um a few days ago when I was thinking through I'm like, now I know how people do that. Yeah. You didn't decide to do it. You were just uh it didn't have to be so all negative and bad. It's not like you run a killing spree or anything like that. You just your your system was frozen, you were glitching out, you were doing all kinds of distractive things. Um there there I guess the the main concern with that, to your point, Killum, wouldn't necessarily be, did you ask for forgiveness for certain things in that period of time as you were consistently doing that? Hopefully that was your heart position. So it wasn't like you took two weeks off in general, you just kind of shut down for two weeks. I guess my concern would be in that time is what you did miss potentially was some of that kind of daily conversation that maybe you might be having prayerfully to where at least it keeps you somewhat on the rails because we're making mistakes every day because of our moods, because of something we're mad at, resentment, any number of negative emotions that cause us to have a um some kind of a sinful nature, you know. And I believe if you've you've reconciled that with the Lord, he's already let us know in the word that he knows we're sinners, we're born that way, effectively, we're kind of gonna mess it up pretty regularly. I feel like he's addressed that already. A lot of this to me comes down to what the consistency looks like. Because in the real grand scheme of things, two weeks is no time at all.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, it's no well, in the grand scheme of things according to the word of God, our lifespan in this body, the 80 to 120 years that we'll live, right, is no time at all. Right. And so that's what we hyper focus on, but that's the freedom we get when we understand um the mysteries of the Lord when he says, Hey, you're like you were always supposed to be with me forever, but sin separated you from me. So when I come back, I'm taking you. You're with me, I'm eternal, I don't have time. And so this is a very short time period. But Brian, incredible questions. I think two other questions um that believers don't sit on long enough. One, why did Jesus go to the cross? Like in totality, not a simple answer. And then two, so he went to the cross and now I'm here. What w what access, what does that provide me? And because you said it really well, the my heart posture when I see somebody drift like that away from the Lord, and the Lord has all wisdom, uh the fruits of the Spirit, joy, peace, patience, kindness, like what's the cost of what I've drifted away from? And has there been chaos and um disorder in my life the last two weeks, or if I've just been emotionally unaligned, where does that alignment cost? It cost me something to drift away from the Lord, if I'm a believer.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, uh yeah, I mean, and uh likely the most recognizable parts of that for just the the normal human brain or or whatever would be probably a lack of peace, probably some um the feeling of some anxiety, maybe um loss of of control that you never really had in the first place. I mean, I think there's gonna be symptoms of disconnection, just like there would be you know symptoms of disconnection in any other friendship or relationship that you might have, you know what I mean? Um that misalignment, you know, you talked about um mowing the yard, right?

SPEAKER_02

And let's say that you got some freedom in your life and you're like, I can have joy in mowing my yard without spending the extra two and a half hours to make the lines exactly perfect, right? Like I'm free of performance. Um but when we start to drift, and it can be alcohol, it can be depression, um, it can be Thad you brought up massage parlors, like I've dealt with that with a lot of guys, it can be any of this kind of stuff. They can get really, really bad, but it didn't start out there, it starts out subtle again. But you've been there before, but one of the costs is we can start drifting into those old beliefs again because we're not we're not sitting in our identity of who we are in Christ. Right. We're not hearing from the Father, we're not bringing any joy and peace into our circumstance. And I mean when a hard season comes and it's today, but like there's gonna be a tomorrow all the way to eternity. Today doesn't impact me like it would if I'm just drifting into the day, into everybody else's beliefs, all their anxiety, all the chaos. Like I'm I'm a part of that now versus a part of what God wants me to be a part of.

SPEAKER_01

Well, and feelings start to decide um too much, you know. Feelings, we were given feelings for a reason. Um, but you know, the problem with feelings is the enemy can manipulate those feelings, and this is for everybody. I'm not singling anybody out. We all have the capacity and capability to be, you know, controlled by feelings. So, you know, I think that uh this will be a really good one to kind of swerve back into next week a little bit. Um, we we try to keep um our time um where we're at just so that people can kind of catch it and move on to the next thing. And we're about there. So we wanted to remind everybody that the very best way to um consume the this podcast is gonna be on all the streaming platforms like iTunes, Spotify, iHeartRadio. Um it's gonna be on YouTube as well. And iTunes is doing this thing um like some of the other platforms now to where it's um it can be done like a video cast, you know, like a YouTube. So you can catch it there. They're starting to try to be more YouTube like Spotify. Can see my bell bottoms back to the beginning of the podcast for can't you all just be the same? Yep. So we we really appreciate all the feedback we're getting. Um please check us out there, leave us reviews, send comments and and DMs. We're on Facebook and Instagram these days. Um you can always find the links there to the new episodes. Um, we always like to remind you at the top right-hand corner of those platforms with the dots, you can click on it and copy and share it to your own social media or send it as a text. You can rate Brian's jeans there too. And rate, rate and review, five stars, of course, for the uh genes. We'll take it. And um we just really appreciate you guys um listening to topics and comments and a lot of the things we do discuss or derived from those conversations we we have with you guys um, you know, in in live out of like over a cigar or in a comment. So we really appreciate that. And uh we're going into uh the weekend, Father's Day, so happy Father's Day to you guys.

SPEAKER_00

Happy Father's Day with you as well. Like you've got a million of them. You're only looking at us like we are the only ones with the kids. Like, I think it's like eight father's three, three, four, three, four days.

SPEAKER_01

Be better, yeah. Be better, be better, Josh.

SPEAKER_02

I want to pray it's out.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, go ahead.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, Heavenly Father, we're just so thankful for who you are. Um, Lord, and to have a place to just wrestle with some of these things and uh to be okay knowing that you uh and you're there to provide answers and that we can truly wrestle with things that that we really dislike. Um, Lord, and um I'm also thankful that we don't have to ever come perfect, that you are perfect, that uh you came down here as Jesus and and we're perfect because we cannot be uh and you see us as such. And I'm excited. Um, Lord, there's there's questions that we all have, and those are getting exposed that you have the answers to those. I'm excited for people to have that. But uh and my prayer right now as that came up is that if anybody through our conversation has gone back to something that they're holding against themselves because they've stepped in it and it's hurt them and other people. But they just minister to them and they'd find a place to still forgive themselves. Um not attached that to their identity and like push name. And I pray uh also for anybody that's wrestling with some of the same questions. Brian worked through something at church, or that you just minister to them and let them know that they can still have peace uh on the journey. And it's a good journey to ask those questions. They're in a they're in a good place because you're good. And so those will be worked out and they'll have to work out this second. Uh but it's it's good for us to wrestle with you. So many believers get stuck in religion or stuck in their head and they don't they don't ever flourish um because we're afraid of some of those questions because we can't answer them. Uh and and that again too is attached to our identity. So it's I just want to remind everybody it's good to wrestle with those. And uh Lord, for anybody that doesn't know you, uh that's living. We talked about drifting back into doing these things and habits we don't want in our life anymore. Uh we talked about anxiousness and fear that people around us live in or addiction to social media. Um if they're in any of that, I just want them to know that you're available. And uh I've heard it time and time again as believers, we drift and forget to cry out, God, where are you? Uh that you're good and you're a safe place to cry out. God are you real? Where are you? That's a great place to start. So I just bless everybody today. I pray in uh in your presence as long as personal side praise in Jesus' name. Amen.
