Welcome to the golf plan. Here's your host, Jacob Abear.
SPEAKER_01Welcome, welcome, welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to another edition of The Golf Lurv. I'm Jacob Abear, and joining me as he does each and every time we do the podcast is David Pointbuff. David, sir, how are you doing?
SPEAKER_03Jacob, I'm hanging in there. I've uh discovered that my powers of recovery are much diminished for my uh younger self. We spent a full weekend in uh New Orleans. I went out on Bourbon Street two nights in a row. Uh have not done that in two nights in a row? Gosh, probably since my twenties. So uh yeah, I'm I'm struggling a little bit this week.
SPEAKER_01I don't know if I've done that since my twenties, David. And I go out a bunch, and I don't stay out very late. The last time I think uh I think Ellen and I stayed out till three the last time we went to Bradman Street, but we were not in any way, shape, or form attempting to attempting to do it again the next night.
SPEAKER_03No, it was good, man. We had a we had a great time. So shout out to my my middle son Landon, 21 years old. Uh he actually made 21 a few weeks ago, but he worked shift work, and this was the first weekend that it worked out for everybody. So we have him uh had a a buddy of his and uh some of our family and friends came out and had a really nice weekend with him.
SPEAKER_01Nice. Uh it is British Open Week, and we are five for five. I know you don't count the players as a as a major, but uh at the beginning of the season we committed to getting all majors done, and here we are recording a podcast for the fourth major of the year. The the open championship, as it were, not the British Open. We uh if we were the powers that we used to have, people would be yelling at us from overseas. But I don't think those people listen to us anymore. The open championship. Yeah, I wonder if uh if our buddy Luke Bradstreet if he was like surprised when the the little ding dong came up on his phone. The golf verb is back.
SPEAKER_03Yes. Hopefully he was still uh following it. Didn't clear up some space. We ought to check in with him. He was in the golf course architecture gig uh last we spoke to him.
SPEAKER_01I think he was just in the landscaping portion of it. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03He was the doing the build-outs and whatnot.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Try and keep the microphone right in front of your lips, Dave. Right there. There we go. Right in front of the lips. That's right. Okay. Uh before we talk British Open, let's talk about us because we're selfish. Um the people want to know, right? I mean, somebody wants to know. You got a new weapon, you think? Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Well, we'll see. I haven't uh haven't gotten ahead it yet, but uh as our listeners should be well aware, anybody that's played golf with me in the last you know 10 years or so, I've had quite the yip with uh any club that looks like a wood, uh be it a hybrid or fairway wood, uh from Fairway Lies. And you know, I've had lessons about it. Uh I've you know tried any number of different things. I've I've had different phases where I could hit them for a little bit, but anyway, not really consistently. And and you know, I've uh so I decided to uh maybe you should bring a live chicken to the course and sacrifice it. Put all my T's in my left pocket and turn my head around sideways. Yeah, uh I've probably tried all those things too. But uh so anyway, so I I have been hitting my irons very, very well, thanks to uh Thomas Wartell. Uh a couple good lessons there, and um, you know, really been hitting even my five and four iron pretty good. I'm like, you know what, why don't I just get a club that feels like an extension of my iron set instead of uh instead of a wood or hybrid? So I did some uh some Googling around. My golf spy, my favorite source, said the title as U 505 was the best version of that type of club. So I got it in a three-iron loft and uh and had it shafted exactly the same as my iron set, had it swing weighted. So now I have no excuses left. If this doesn't work, I'm just mentally uh screwed.
SPEAKER_01And what I mean, we're we're not talking about something that allowed you to go at par fives. No. You're just trying to push the ball down the fairway as uh as good as possible.
SPEAKER_03Exactly. Yeah, yeah. Now this club does, you know, from what I've read, it does launch pretty high. Uh yeah, but no, it's not something I'm gonna be like attempting long carries with or like you said, trying to run it out 250. It's not gonna go that far. But you know, 220, 225 uh from the tees I play at you know, home club of uh Ellendale, uh it should be a good club. There's it should also be a good T club. We have like three, three holes at least that uh you should consider less than driver off the T, you know, six, nine, and and um fifteen some days, depending on the how how dry it is. But um, yeah, so I think it's a club I'll get a lot of use out of. And you know, and hey, if it if it gets a slightly longer or excuse me, a slightly shorter club in my hand on par fives uh you know for my third shot.
SPEAKER_01You run into that issue on I guess par fives over there, at least uh seven and eleven. The layup is not really fun if you don't have a good drive.
SPEAKER_03Right, exactly. So yeah, I've had you know several rounds lately where I've you know otherwise played good and and uh you know scored well um you know, like five and six irons uh into the par five on my third shot, and it's typically either a product over a subpar T-ball, or I do try my my hybrid or fairway wooden top it, and now I'm you know short of the 150 marker coming in. So, you know, yeah, just something that'll get me, you know, if I can get it, if I can play a nine-iron or or pitching wedge into those par fives, I'll be more than happy. And I've I think this club will help me do that.
SPEAKER_01I was uh thought I was playing really well, but I think what I did was leading up to the uh Ellendale four ball, I hit so many balls in the two weeks prior to that that I kind of grooved a move and and figured out some timing issues. Um that all came crashing down uh for the T-Bags Championship. I played like abject dog shit compared to what I was hoping to score uh per my handicap, and then it all came really uh unraveled on the Saturday. But uh I um wild off the T, huh? I finally had enough, yeah. Uh I hit a ball out of bounds on 12 while I was playing 11 from the T. That's a pretty good knock. Uh it is a very good knock in the wrong direction. Uh so I also uh went and get a little cleanup from uh from Thomas and uh we're looking at the swing on video, and uh everything that we worked on prior is still there. But I could tell my like I struggle with I've been struggling with my grip for like five years or so, and I think it crept into the long game that we fixed. Like I would get progressively stronger uh trying to hold on to it and not hit a snap hook and then it would progressively go more and more left. But I never every time I weakened my grip, I never felt like I uh I could feel where the club was. So we worked a lot on it yesterday and he and he tells me he's like, Well, look, we can do this one of two ways. You can keep your very strong grip, and then we gotta fix your release, which sucks, not gonna be easy to do. Or I can fix your grip, which is gonna suck and not gonna be easy to do. I said, Well, Thomas, I've been swinging that way for 15 years. Uh I don't think the release is changing. I've tried to change it multiple times to disastrous consequences. Right, right. So uh so I don't know, we'll see. We'll we'll play uh we'll play soon. And uh it's foreign feeling, but uh it definitely looks weird, but the the like the the shots feel more solid, doesn't feel as timey.
SPEAKER_03Well, good, good. Yeah, we'll have quite the the beta test session that are when we tee it up together next.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I uh but in the interim I played golf in uh Everett, Washington, and it was a treat of a golf course. Uh bent grass greens, big evergreens, uh lining all the fairways. It was very uh disconcerting attempting to play golf over there because it didn't matter how high or low you hit it, you had no real depth perception because the trees are so freaking high. Uh and that prompted a putter change because those greens were super fast. And uh I wasn't playing with my clubs, but I had my putter basically. I had a spider tour 35 inch and uh I had the touch of a stone mason. So I got on the Google machine and and did a whole bunch of research and found that the uh the ping Scottsdale is the softest insert, so I can make hopefully aggressive strokes at it and uh and not not have a whole lot of six-footers coming back.
SPEAKER_03Nice. I I loved how when you shared that idea with me and I told you, oh, that's Wyndham's Clark's putter, you almost changed your mind and went a different direction.
SPEAKER_01Well, Wyndham's got the counterbalance one. I bought I bought a similar setup to mine, but it's center shafted with that face. Um and I have I won't have a whole bunch of lead tape. I don't know how they can putt with lead tape.
SPEAKER_03Like Yeah, that would just just knowing it was there would uh would distract me. Yeah. Um and I think I do think I think I mentioned to you too that uh Brian Bednorge has been putting really well with a I texted him on the side, I'm like, uh I'm joining the club pods, and he's like, focus on the focus on the dot.
SPEAKER_01Whatever that means. But there's a dot in on the training thing, but uh it's uh it it'll be my first uh zero torque attempt um in a very long time. And and weekend will and Steven are like, it's data, bro. You're just gonna putt better.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, they are data, very data driven in their approach to the game since uh since Pell's school. Yeah. So Dave, I uh I talked about how poorly I played at the T-Bags Championship. How about you? Uh you know, I I got off to a horrendous start. I don't know if I was just too amped up or or what probably amped up. Yeah. Uh I think through the first six holes I was um like eight over and then shot like two over the rest of the day that day. Um and then the next day I had a pretty decent round. Uh we had a we had a runaway winner in Gwane. I was so so tickled for him. Uh such a great guy, and one of our fellow, you know, our fellow senior member like me, although a bit older than me, but uh you know, so there was no no possibility of catching him. But um, you know, I battled my way back into contention for second or third place. And I think I was like uh T3 when I when I made it back to the clubhouse, and I think uh I got passed, so I ended up in fourth. So not a not a terrible effort for me. And you know, if I would have just got it around those first six holes and three or four over par, I'd have been right there.
SPEAKER_01You know what's funny, we um the biggest complaint I think we have of our golf league is how we handicap everything. And you know, when somebody when a when a very high handicap runs away with something, they're like uh people complain and moan, and because that's what people like to do when uh in our golf league, apparently. Yeah. Complain and moan. But but really, you know, we had a whole bunch of rain the weekend before. We almost didn't even play at Ellendale and they couldn't cut the greens, and it gave everybody fits except the guy who like bangs putts. Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah, so Gwen's like, this is the best I've ever putted. I'm like, well, don't get used to it because I don't think they'll ever be this slow again.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, no doubt, man. They uh yeah, I you know, kudos to Ellendale for getting that course in in shape to for us to play. I mean, uh on on the Friday round, we we had two holes that were unplayable, so we had to get a little creative with the with the routing for the day. But uh, you know, the rest of the course drained, I thought, super well. It wasn't even like crazy muddy on Friday, and then by Saturday the fairways were running out and we were back to playing the course as is. And um for you know, for the folks that we had like this little pop-up trop I don't did it make tropical storm uh yes. Yeah, yeah. Made a little tropical storm and and just dumped w water on us for uh for about 24 hours. It was pretty crazy. I think 10, 11, 12 inches, something like that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's uh a couple of places that had two feet.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. So nuts, and and somehow or another, a day and a half later we were uh we were out there.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so the last time we talked, we uh we we broke down the US Open. Um couple of fun con I I think there's a couple of things that maybe we should uh button up on that. What what was your opinion on the way the uh New York folk treated the champion?
SPEAKER_03Dude, they they um I I think that the New York metro area should lose every major golf event for ten years. Um It seems like it's getting worse. It's got I mean, the obviously the the Ryder Cup last year was a frickin' abomination the way they were acting, and and that translated over. And you know, is does sports betting uh have anything to do with that?
SPEAKER_01I don't think so. I think I I really think it's the and and Robbie not being here to say shrink the game uh is kind of funny, but I I really think it's the it's how popular golf has gotten. Yeah. And golf has gotten popular from a YouTube standpoint, and for everything good that YouTube golf does, it doesn't do dick to teach you uh like the history of the game, the manners of the game, how to play the game. You just see these people showing up in dumb outfits, swinging as hard as they can, acting the ass, which we do because we drink, but but we know the etiquette and so I think it's more of a product of that than sports bettings. I mean, I I think uh the sports betting part is like on the T box trying to get somebody to actually screw up the Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I think Rory made a comment about that recently where he's like, you know, they they might have to do something about this gambling because you have people actively rooting against players like and trying to affect them.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I I thought it was hilarious that uh Jordan Speith gave a comment about sports betting. Oh, maybe it was Speith. And like a week before he did uh uh an ad read for DraftKings. Um and then uh you know that golf course played very difficult, uh albeit for 45 minutes on Thursday afternoon. Yeah uh Shannon Cock was uh played the way it the way we thought it would. And I think that uh that prompted a really cool back and forth with Scotty Shuffler talking about how the pros you shouldn't really base anything about how the pros finish a golf tournament, what the score is. Right, right. Uh and it's kind of leading I think I think it started with the the driving debate, uh the driving distance debate, which has been pushed back. I think we talked about that last time. But it's you know, it was interesting to hear him talk about it because it wasn't what you would think. You know, his whole point was look, you we're that much better at golf than you, than most everyone in the world. Yeah uh if we're bunched up and there's uh you know the score is the score, you want to see good shots rewarded. You don't want you don't want to trick out a golf course and make uh bad shots or the ones that determine the the uh the winner.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. No, I I sent that to our group to kind of prompt a little discussion. I was hoping Robbie would be here, but he scheduled another vacation uh while we're trying to record a major. Um you know, because he's he's one that's like really about you know major championships being the that penal test like in the past where the the score is somewhere around par and you know he you know hates the you know he calls the masters not my major because it gets to 13 under par. And then he's like uh you know, the U.S. Open, well, you know, same thing with the PGA, they scored, they went low. Um, and then uh you know, of course the US Open was a little bit better, but even on that Thursday when you know when uh yeah when Windham you know made his charge, he was not happy about that. And then he's like, you know, now we got the open, it'll be a proper test of golf. I'm like, dude, it's gonna be 25 under par, you know. Right.
SPEAKER_01So uh anyway. It's apparently looking very, very speedy. Uh a couple of those guys are saying they were hitting five and six irons off the T and getting it pin high on par fours.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, yeah. I I was reading a little something uh earlier, and and uh I want to say might have been speed hit it like a five iron that went 300 yards. Uh Victor Hovlin drove it was downwind, but it was 415 yard par 40 drove it long of the green and got in trouble behind the green.
SPEAKER_01Um before we get to the open proper, uh I wanted your opinion. Uh Rory was asked this week about the consolid uh the condensed major season, this major season that we've had now for um what uh four years, five years? Um you know, this is the last major of the season. We used to wrap up in August with the PGA championship. Do you like how uh crunched it is, or would you rather it um be a little bit more stretched out?
SPEAKER_03I kind of think I do. Um I to me it's it's it's uh elevated the PGA a little bit. Um when the PGA was in August, um it was almost like half a major. Uh and you know, people's attentions I think had started moving to football at that point. So I think it's elevated that. Um Yeah, and it does make golf feel like it has more of a season as opposed to just being a perpetual thing going on, you know, 48 out of 52 weeks of the year.
SPEAKER_01It's just weird because they tried to they tried to push so many signature events in between the Masters and in the open that uh like Rory is barely gonna make his tournaments uh for the season, which I'm sure that's all gonna be uh talked about and changed a little bit, but like you had guys winning big events and then um taking themselves out of a signature event that's the next week. I know they're trying to protect Harbortown after uh after the Masters, but like um the the PGA tour is moving to this two-tiered system where you've got like a hundred, what is it, eighty guys playing on the high dollar events and then the other hundred and twenty championship series. Yeah, then the other the other hundred and twenty are playing on something, then you've still got the Corn Fair tour. Um and I don't know how you reconcile that.
SPEAKER_03I know Yeah, I I just as you know, to interject a little bit, I do think that was the downside of the bunch season is it really wreaked havoc on on the PGA tour season, which had previously enjoyed a a longer time to get events in and guys could take weeks off and still play the tournaments they wanted to play. And I think this the elevated tournaments, which was a response to Live, so you can blame that on Live too. Right. Um Yeah, between all those changes, it just kind of wreaked havoc on the the run-of-the-mill PGA tour event.
SPEAKER_01And I know people will say, well, the you know, uh football players don't take any time off, but we can't say basketball players don't take any time off. But uh Scotty, you know, he's been like the go-to guy uh for these big long-winded eloquent responses in the last six months, which I think is kind of refreshing from the way he was perceived earlier um uh as his reign is number one, and he said, Look, it's not just the four days of tournament golf. You know, the minute you step on property on a Tuesday morning, everything you do is watched and scrutinized. You know, we don't have we we don't practice all week, and then you got three hours on uh on a Sunday to go perform, you have to perform from Tuesday all the way through. It is an exacting mental um uh uh exercise, and it's just not one that is conducive to do more than three weeks in a row.
SPEAKER_03Right, right. And you know, he's got a couple hundred million in the bank at least right now, so he's like, I'm checking out of this system. I'm I'm getting off the hamster wheel, you know. I'm gonna play when I want to play.
SPEAKER_01And I mean he he plays more than more than most. He probably has played more than Tiger ever played when Tiger was number one. He plays like the off. He's played a couple of uh he's played most of the signature events and he's played a couple of off-week tournaments.
SPEAKER_03This year I would say he's he scaled it back more because like he was he was basically in Augusta for a month. Uh you know, he skipped uh skipped the signature event leading into Augusta. No, you're thinking of Rory. Oh, I'm sorry, did we switch uh Philadelphia? No, Scotty's talking about Scotty. Yeah, no, Scotty does does play more than uh than Tiger ever did. Tiger was a 15 uh tournament, you know, uh 15 tournaments a year. Right.
SPEAKER_01If it was his opinion, they would have done this at the PGA tour a long time ago. But I'd I do agree that a proper start Super Bowl weekend at the uh waste management ending uh before Labor Day is the ideal big golf season. And I guess uh I guess you can't you can't really stretch it out anymore than it than it is if you include the players as like a uh as uh a prominent event.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. Um yeah, and then I you know I was I was kind of skeptical of the move of the players back to to that March time frame, but uh seems to be working well. Um so yeah, I think the big tournaments being condensed like that I think helped out, but like I said, there has definitely been some some detriment to the uh the run-of-the-mill PGA tour event, which you know they're gonna addressing uh I think what does that start? Twenty twenty-eight? Yeah. Yeah. So anyway, you know, remains to be seen how with the long-term ramifications are all that on, but you know, it looks like Liv's going away, so they're not competing with that anymore. The DP World Tour is going to become more of a feeder league to the PGA tour, just like the Corn Ferry Tour and the Challenger series are. So um it does seem like there's the top echelon of golf is becoming more unified. Um post post Live apocalypse.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that was the other th the other the last thing uh I'll comment on before we move on to the open. Um these uh like some of the rank and file of the DP World Tour is is kind of pushing back on uh on the amount of cards they give to PGA Tour players um to come in and and uh I forgot who it was. Uh it was a guy who's been on there for a long time that I think had just won recently, basically saying, Look, we're out here grinding week in and week out, and you're gonna give PGA Tour players this dispensation to come and play five times, and then they can win the race of Dubai.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. That does seem nuts. Because yeah, between the the majors all being co-sanctioned, uh, and then there's a couple of PGA Tour events now that are co-sanctioned. Yeah, and they're coming in, you know, some of those um like Middle East tournaments, they'll give them big appearance fees to come in, and um same thing with like uh was it like the Dunhill Lynx? There's a few of those prominent. Yeah, no, I I certainly understand that that gripe, you know.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and his point was um it's really hard to qualify off of the DP World Tour to the PGA tour now because You don't you can't get enough world ranking points. Right, right. Or you can't be a top fifty player without going to uh without going to America. Yeah. He's like it used to be, you know, Colin used to be able to go uh you know, Colin used to be able to play hip predominantly in in uh in Europe and show up to a major, you know, in the top twenty-five in the world, and that's just not possible anymore.
SPEAKER_03No, for sure. And they actually, you know, the PJ tour guys used to complain that they felt like the deep DP World Tour um were getting outsized world ranking points back then because of the well, the strength of the fields were obviously way below a PJ Tour event, but if they won, they were getting you know pretty much similar um similar points than they'd get for a PJ Tour event. And it's like wait a minute, they're not playing the same level of competition we are, and and you know, so it's easier for those guys to be ranked higher. That's where you got you know, like those Luke Donald's and Lee Westwoods uh you know became world number one when they're well I mean Luke Donald was playing predominantly on the PJ tour and became number one.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Westwood, uh Westwood, yeah. Westwood definitely, yeah. Um I guess uh hopefully they do a a small uh you know they they figure out the schedule to where you get from the Super Bowl to uh to Labor Day, like we said, and then you know the PGA tour has enough money right now, they could probably do some kind of uh worldwide series in the fall and get you know, if you do four events, then you're actually growing the game, quote unquote. Yeah, there you go. Uh Rolap did say that they may they may opt out of their TV contract to try and get one more done before the NFL renews. I guess after the NFL renews, they won't have nobody will have any money. Yeah, no doubt.
SPEAKER_03They're gonna hit them hard.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01All right, let's move on to the open, Dave. Uh it's at Royal Burkdale this year, won by Jordan Speith last time he was there. Uh and I think uh back then you and I would basically live text the final round with each other. So we are uh uh I remember vividly uh the year before the Stenson Mickelson shootout, you and I uh just going to town on text, watching it together, and then uh this one because I think Matt Couture was screwed royally out of his best chance to win a major.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, no, I would agree. That whole debacle with the Jordan Speith dropping on the driving range thing uh took what was that, the better part of half an hour. It did.
SPEAKER_01It did, because they couldn't nobody could determine where he would uh he would be able to drop, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. And you know, for him to be able to take it way back out, you know, but beyond those trailers on completely blocked. I mean, look, he executed it great, but it seemed like that should have been sorted uh much quicker than it did.
SPEAKER_01It uh I think it took away from the putt he made, I think, on the next hole that go get that. And then that and then that uh uh that six irony hit two holes later to like three feet. That took away from all that. Yeah. Uh the the the image I remember from that tournament is Cooch kneeling in front of the green, waiting for waiting for speed to play up.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, for sure. Yeah, that that had to like just you know kill Cooch uh you know mentally. Right. Having to watch all that transpire. Because that was on the back nine, wasn't it? Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah, it was back nine on Sunday. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Wild stuff. Yep. Well talk to us about Royal Birthday, old day.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. And I'm not as as well vetted in this one as some of the other ones uh that we play, but it is a it is a really cool course. Uh so it's it's been around since the 1800s, but uh it's changed uh changed its format once or twice. Um the latest um architect to work on it was um was um Martin Hawktree, who's kind of like the Gil Hunts of Lynx Golf in in Scotland and Ireland. So he um you know he's kind of like a generational guy. I think his grandfather was involved in the original design of Burkdale, uh, as was James Braid, which I believe there's some family connection there with James Braid, who is, you know, I don't know if you remember Harry Varden, James Braid, and J. Taylor with the original Big Three back in back along. Not that you would remember that, but we've discussed it before. But anyway.
SPEAKER_01No, I just remember that big guy, James. Did you say James Ray? Is that what you said? That's uh Ted Ray. Ted Ray. Yeah, and the only reason I know that is from the greatest game ever played.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, the greatest game ever played. He didn't look much like what uh the big fat guy looked like. Uh he was tall. But anyway, he was a Wobber. Um anyway, uh but yeah, so Martin Hawtree uh did the latest renovation work on it. The cool thing about Burkdale is it's probably um the most straightforward of those links courses. Um it was laid out very oddly uh between the dunes. Uh so the the fairways are actually flattish as compared to a lot of the other uh the other links courses that you see for the open rota that actually kind of play over and around the dunes. Um so real straightforward, uh probably the most American-like uh course of any of the the um the Lynx courses. Now it does play at Firm and Flash, True Lynx Golf. It's also a great venue for spectators because it plays down in the valleys between the dunes. All the green surrounds and stuff are surrounded, kind of like punchable amphitheaters all around them. So uh pretty neat place. And of course it's got the really cool, it's an art deco clubhouse, um, and it it kind of looks like a boat by design. Um so kind of kind of unique. Uh you know, didn't have that kind of castle look that a lot of the the clubhouses do behind those uh those links courses. So really neat place. It's got a great um championship pedigree, um, a lot of big names. Watson, Trevino, I want to say maybe Palmer won there as well. Um and then like you know, we talked about uh Jordan Spieth was the most recent one. Um it also is the site of the lowest round ever shot uh in a major championship with that 62 that um Brian Um Brian what's his name shot. Uh like he's completely dropped. That's like the only thing he ever did, really. Uh Brian Umly Brian I know is Harman.
SPEAKER_01No, it wasn't.
SPEAKER_03No, no, no. But it was it was a guy kind of like that. Like he came, you know, came around, played well for a couple years, and then just kind of vanished. Uh and but yeah, he dropped that 62. Uh so he's like the 10 cup of uh of major championship golf. Um anyway, yeah, uh you know, I'm excited. The weather forecast looks uh looks pretty good. You've anybody that's been on social media has seen the course is like literally brown. It's like the greens are supposedly in really, really good shape. No, they're rolling perfect, they're nice and quick, uh, for for length screen anyway. Um but yeah, they it's been hot, it's been dry, uh, and there's a good bit of breeze in the forecast, not like ridiculous breeze. You know, you might have some gust in the in the 20s, but I think it'll be 10 to 18 miles an hour for the most part. So good, you know, it's gonna be a proper length golf test.
SPEAKER_01My favorite um pontification so far this week has been all directed at Bryson DCambeau. Nick Faldo, Nick Faldo had a uh had just sort of like just ripped him uh recently about he's got zero desire to play strategic golf, and it's and that's why he sucks.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And then uh and then um, you know, your favorite Brandel Chambly basically said that he's a YouTube golfer. He doesn't care about his place in history anymore, where uh it seemed like, you know, even a couple of years ago after he won that second open, you know, sky's the limit. He can he can earn his place in history, but now he's missed uh three straight three straight major cuts.
SPEAKER_03He's like we said last night, he is not a serious person anymore. Um and I think the frustration is that he's everybody feels like he's wasting all this raw talent and potential that he that he has. Uh and you've seen it, you know, when he was playing his best. Uh he can be very dominant. Um you know, so not with the substance abuse type stuff that John Daly had, but kind of a very similar story to the John Daly, you know, where John Daly never really figured out that he played tournament professional golf for a living. You know, it was always uh you know, lazy, didn't work. Uh now Bryson is not that, you know, he puts a lot, but works works on the wrong things.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, the difference is Bryson th is bound to determine to do it his way, which he feels like is the superior way. Yeah. Be it equipment, be it the way he swings, be it like his uh the way he putts uh and really I think if you look at it, I mean his short game is just abysmal recently. Like uh uh there seems like one one or two like what what did you just hit? Bunker shot or chip shot. They had that famous one from Mexico where he was uh he he scald one over the green and then he's yelling that this is a uh I can't believe we're playing on these conditions.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's never his fault, is it? Yeah. Uh just uh I kind of left. Uh I don't know if you saw the the thing this week where Colin Jost has a broomstick style chipping club. I'm like, you know that's gonna be in Bryson's bag before it's over with.
SPEAKER_01Dude, I almost sent it to Nick T. Yeah. Don't give him any help.
SPEAKER_03You know, I'm tired of tired of him taking all my money on on Fridays and Sundays.
SPEAKER_01Um yeah, it's uh it just I mean we all I think we all went through this this whole I can't he's uh this quirky dude, be fun for the PGA tour to Jesus Christ. Yeah, the golf professor. Would you shut the fuck up to uh now he's like this big personable person and he's just reverted back. I think he was always what he is now. We mentioned it before that he just needs to find out.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. And and now he's back to the person we didn't really like prior to his transformation. I always liked him. He wore the Hogan cap, which I always got a little bit of respect for the Hogan Cap wears, you know. Yeah, then he signed with Cobra and they're like, mm, we don't make those. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Nice. Um I think the prohibitive favors this week, probably as always, uh you could probably go down the top three in the world and they'll be they'll be favored this week. Um Scotty Scheffler finally missed a cut last week in Scottish. Um do you think that really affects him this week? Is that like a is that the canary in the coal mine uh of his demise or just maybe it's the maybe it's the wake-up call he needed uh kind of thing, you know.
SPEAKER_03Because he hasn't he's been off for Scotty as compared to the last three years, but shit, man, he's he's the top five machine. He's got a win on the season. He lost a playoff to Victor Hoblin uh just recently. So it's not like he's like in the in the shitter, like uh, you know, Ricky Fowler or uh or Speith, like when they go through their slumps. You know, this is he's still the best player in the world, you know.
SPEAKER_01Robbie sent out a a very interesting um tweet uh of his proximity this year. Like that's the first time I've seen it laid out, and you know, he's middle of the road in all his proximity, whereas he was between one and five. You know, he was like the everybody considers him like the best iron player on tour. Yeah. And uh he was uh especially from fifty to a hundred, he was like number two, number one in twenty-four and twenty-five, and he's like fifty-second. Okay. All right. Well, there we go. We may have found the uh so he might he might be putting better than he ever has, but he's striking it worse. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I know I know Brandle's been beating that drum all season that something looks different in his golf swing.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. Well, was it the steepness or something? He thinks it's the steepness. Yeah, which makes sense. Yeah, that that does make you prone to bigger misses with the irons.
SPEAKER_01Um, but I I think people were saying similar things last year, uh, and then he went off and and uh and won.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01And he he's a defending open champion, right?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. Because he had uh he won two last year. He won the PGA championship, then he went through a funk. A funk. And then uh people were saying this is the first time you've played uh Port Rush. You're not, you can't win. And he's like, well, first time playing it. Championship.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I'm um I don't know. He's just not as prohibitive of a favorite as he has been, but he's still he's still the betting favorite, I think. He's still the betting favorite.
SPEAKER_01And I think it's probably a very awful number if you bet a Scotty Scheffler top five. Or top, yeah, top five. A little bit better if you bet top ten.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, it might be uh minus numbers for a top five. That's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_01It's it's it's probably still an awful number, and he missed the cut last week.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_01Uh what about Rory? Rory, we were just talking about he hasn't played uh uh a whole lot this season, but he spent a ton of time at Royal Burkdale in the last three weeks.
SPEAKER_03Kind of similar to uh his approach at uh at Augusta. So yeah, I mean uh so he did play um played last week. Played the Scottish and he was what he leading at some point.
SPEAKER_01He was leading going into Saturday and played an awful round and then rebounded again on uh I love hearing him talk whenever he struggles because he he talked about it at the Masters. Yeah. Uh how it was like one rain session got him got him he figured out his pattern. Yeah. Uh that rain session Saturday night, and that's what kind of propelled him to the victory. And he did you watch any of Saturday? Like he he hit some of the most awful golf shots, like he chunked a wedge.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I saw the one clip where he pulled one left and he goes, Oh, I'm so bad at golf.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Uh but he he talked about like you know, sometimes you just gotta go hit balls in an opposite wind, and then you like your your miss becomes clear. And like I love to hear him talk like that sometimes because one of the more insightful uh because it's not it's not like um trackman even and I think he even was like kind of talking about track man stuff. Like track man's great when you are trying to find where your swing's at to make sure the numbers are matching up, but like track man's not something that he that he he he latches to to fix his swing.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So uh I I mean I like his chances this week.
SPEAKER_03I yeah, I do too. It wouldn't in no way would it surprise me. Now it is a little dry for him as far as winning majors, but he's um his wedge game has gotten so much better than it was uh back when he could only win on a on a wet track. You know, he won I think three of his first five majors were all on uh on wet wet golf courses and US Open and the um the last British Open it rained and I think he won one on um on the ocean course in pretty wet conditions.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like when it almost a hurricane. Yeah. Something like that. Yeah, and and now he works the ball both ways. Yeah, we shall see. Yep. Um what happened to Cam Young, Dave? He was like the prohibitive uh everybody loved uh every everybody loved him early in the season and he's fallen off quite a bit.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so so you know, of course, had the dominating win at the players, uh looked like you know the the best player in the world, and then you know follows that up with a really strong performance in the Masters through 54 holes. Um and then, you know, ever since that that last round in the Masters, he kind of hadn't been the same. I I don't think he's done pretty either, you know, he hadn't done well.
SPEAKER_01Didn't he win wasn't Durrell after the Masters or Durral was before the Masters? Um don't ask me. Yeah, I'm gonna look it up. Because that was the last time that um uh the another tournament Scotty came in second at. But he's like, you know, I could have played however good I wanted to play this week and came out and was winning. Yeah, exactly. And then it from there, it seemed like that had to be uh April 29th through the twenty. That's after the Masters, right? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, so he was still riding high from that. So maybe it wasn't the the death knell, but uh but yeah, definitely.
SPEAKER_03He has not played great since no no no, yeah, he didn't perform well in either the PGA or the US Open. Um and you know he's been in some other fields and hadn't you hadn't seen him on many leaderboards, that's for sure.
SPEAKER_01Is there any uh live guy that has really disappointed this season that kind of needs uh outside of uh of Bryson that that needs a really strong showing?
SPEAKER_03Well, I mean I think everybody had high hopes for for Rom um this year, and and he he has had some good uh good showings in majors. Um he um was you know very high on the power rankings. I I looked at several different power ranking services, and I mean I saw him as high as like three or four in the power rankings, which I thought was a little bit ridiculous, but um you know, I think he's at what he's got, like two top fives in the majors this so far this year. Runner-up, maybe? Uh I'm looking. I'm looking, looking, looking, looking, looking, looking. Um but you know, and then a you know, his scoring average, uh counting his his live uh stuff is uh I think only um one player is ahead of him. I don't know if it's Scotty or somebody else, but he so he's got a you know his scoring has been really good.
SPEAKER_01Um T38, T two, and a cut. Okay. There you go. Which one was that? He got cut at the U.S. Open. Okay. But he had that he had that late late charge to like backdoor. He was never uh gonna win, yeah. Yeah. Okay. So uh Rambo. Um I mean, there's really nobody else that jumps out. I mean uh I mean Matt Fitz, he was there on Sunday. Oh, well he's not a live guy. I thought you're talking about live guys, too. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. Yeah, you're right. You're right.
SPEAKER_03I'm stupid. Anyway. I mean, there's I mean Terrell Hatton, but uh he he he made a comment. Somebody said, You gonna win this week? Because I'll be watching on my couch on Sunday. Okay. Yeah. So he's feeling confident.
SPEAKER_01And then uh I guess Cam Smith.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, now he's interesting. I you know, I think we got some some news stuff Robbie had sent us in the group where he had been working with Claude Harman and and refocused on his game. I kind of made the joke that uh now that his uh sugar daddy is is going away, uh he needs to get back to work.
SPEAKER_01Well, yeah, now that he's not guaranteed a place to play anymore. Exactly. Yeah, I've been making the joke that he just got fat uh all year and he's he's played well in the Masters. I mean uh in the uh in the uh in the major season. So I just I mean I really hope that this is the last season we have to discuss. I know Live versus PG. Yeah, go away already. Yeah. Um man, uh the Scott O'Neill dude, his latest sales pitch was you know, if you invest in us, we have a lot of losses on the books that you get to write off for your taxes.
SPEAKER_03Wow, that's strong.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. Maybe uh Elon will uh take him up on that. That's funny. Jeez. That's funny. If anybody could fix it, Elon Musk probably could. Probably, yep.
SPEAKER_03Um anybody else you should talk about? Not from uh from our I mean just you know Wendham Clark, I think it was gonna be my uh my pick for the for the poe pool, but uh dummy made us frick picking uh Kunakana Kuna Punakana instead. So um I just think you know Wyndham Clark over the last few months has has been the best player in the world, really most of the year. Um super strong. Um U.S. Open win. I think Shinnecock and Burke Dale are pretty good comps, course comps for each other. Uh Shinnecock's as close to a links course as you get on the uh, you know, as far as a U.S. Open is concerned, uh Sandy Soil by the Sea, Wendy, he's a good win player. I know uh Pope says he only works the ball one way, so he can't he can't win, but last time he said that he won a major. So um I you know I like I like Wendham Cark a lot. Um and I know it's hard to go back to back in majors, but uh if anybody can do it right now, I think it's him.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he's putting really well. Um I thought it was funny. He's working on his uh on his takeaway and using a uh a coat hanger. Okay. Did you see that? I did, yeah. As a training tool. I mean, that he just screams headcase to me, but uh I guess that's why he's got a mental coach. Yeah. That's why Oakmont needed some new lockers. Yeah, yeah. I did I did say on our on our group text that uh he is just the the the type of hard leg that we need on uh we need we need a uh full of piss and vinegar, Wyndham Clark and the Ryder Cup. Oh yeah, especially on an away team, and we need Fat Pat back on the Ryder Cup. We need those two assholes paired together, yep. Uh going and taking down Roar McElroy and John Rom. I think it'd be great. Hell yeah.
SPEAKER_03Hell yeah. All right. Uh no, that's what I got. And you know, we have some of Yab's card. He sent some plays. Uh it's a pretty deep card. I don't think we need to go through all of them.
SPEAKER_01But a couple of the ones I like I want to point out, uh Tom Kim at 64 to 1, he's got Francesco Woolenari on them. That's funny. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03What's he at 900 to 1 or something? Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah. Uh and then uh he's got the Homer golf golf blurb uh that I think is is still alive for a huge payday, the Ricky Fowler win. Yeah, yeah. Uh I think he needed a messy goal. Okay, so that's why we got some action there. Yeah. Well, he's got he's got Fowler to win outright. That is a bet. And then he did a DraftKings pick where Messi scored a goal and Ricky Fowler wins, and it's uh substantial payday.
SPEAKER_03We're live, huh?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah, we are live.
SPEAKER_03What about our our is that the one we're on? Are we getting a commission? Yes. Okay, okay, cool. I wasn't sure. Yeah, I'm pretty sure. So you're getting paid after Messi scored that goal?
SPEAKER_01No, no, Ricky Fowler has to win. I didn't read that carefully. Okay, well go, Ricky. Which we're my orange just. Which uh which, you know, um up until a couple of weeks ago was a very shitty bet. He had missed like three cuts in a row. Uh there was some uh some talk that he was dealing with a bunch of vertigo because he was really strong early in the year, and then uh obviously he didn't qualify for the Masters, but he qualified for everything else based on the way he's played. He's up to um 41st in the world, so he'll qualify for everything next year. And then he finally he made a run on Sunday uh a couple of weeks ago. Not to the John Deere, the the one before the John Deere. And uh and uh he's coming in to to this finally looking a lot, a lot better. And he switched butters again.
SPEAKER_03Oh, there you go.
SPEAKER_01So we'll see.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, uh, you mentioned Tom. Kim. I I actually like Tom Kim and I think it's sixty to sixty-four to one. That's a that's a really good number. He has played some pretty phenomenal golf this year, uh quietly.
SPEAKER_01Right. Um I didn't realize he barely had any status left.
SPEAKER_03Me either.
SPEAKER_01But um That was the talk of uh of his victory last week was you know he was kind of running out of running out of options to keep his card.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. Really solid uh Twitter Twitter follow, too. If you like want to get in the mind of a a tour player, he he he lays it pretty bare.
SPEAKER_01Are you t are you you sure you're not thinking of Michael Kim? Am I? I think you're thinking of Michael Kim. Oh boy, we are on one. Yeah, Michael.
SPEAKER_03Different Kim. Yes, yes, yes I apologize, Robbie, for confusing your agents.
SPEAKER_01And I think one of the like the continuing good story that's on uh that's on that's on Robbie's card is is Alex Fitzpatrick. Yeah. I mean, uh, and that's you know, going back to our conversation about the way the tour is kind of bifurcating on the two things, like I don't know if we'll see that. Oh, for Missouri. Yeah, once they move once they move on, but like really sucks. Um he you know, that's such a fun tournament to watch. They win, and now and he's like kudos to him. He's like been a top ten machine, top twenty machine since he's been on the tour. He's made the most of his uh of his opportunity. Um I think he's up to like sixty-one, he'll definitely be in the playoffs, so he's got a chance to you know qualify for the Masters based on his world ranking without even getting a win.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, he made a little noise at the U.S.
SPEAKER_01Open, if memory serves. He made some noise, you he made some noise at the PGA as well. You know, he was uh he was up there pretty early. Um good.
SPEAKER_03I mean that's what you you know, he that that's kind of like why I like that old school, you know, uh old school Q school uh Monday qualifying model because you got those stories, you know, just a guy with an opportunity that made the absolute most of it, and you know, he's playing with a chip on his shoulder, he knows he's got something to prove and that he's just not you know Matt Fitzpatrick's little brother and got to slide in because of that. So um uh you gotta love a guy with a chip on his shoulder, especially at uh 105 to 1.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'm I'm laughing because we make fun of Robbie for basically betting the entire field. And I mean, this is a lot of people.
SPEAKER_03This is a lot, yeah. Like I said, we don't have to do all of them. Uh a couple more he's got on there uh that you know, maybe want to you mentioned Patrick Reed for the uh the Ryder Cup a minute ago, 76 to 1. Probably a good number. I don't know if he can win a major championship anymore. Um he's got Justin Rose at 36. I don't know if I like that very much. Um course this is where Justin Rose burst on the scene as a 17-year-old amateur at uh at Burkdale, but um his record in the British Open since is like very pedestrian.
SPEAKER_01Um I think he might have one top five or something like that since he really hasn't played a whole hasn't played really good since uh he went bogey bogey bogey on the back night of the Masters.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think he's had some back injury issues that he's dealing with. Uh shock big shocker, huh? Yeah, fully back. The old fully back. Yeah, yeah. Um and then, you know, probably a recency pick, but uh but got her up playing great golf. He's just got his second win um on tour, 33-1. Uh, you know, probably playing as good as as any of the shorter odds guys right now, so that's probably not a bad play.
SPEAKER_01I think anybody that's under 60 to 1 uh on Yop's card, he's got Bobby Mack at 33 to 1. Uh I love his uh I love his personality, and uh I you know I would not be shocked if he goes out and wins the British Open. Yeah, I need to see a little more out of Bobby Mack before we uh before we call him a major champion.
SPEAKER_03Oh, you didn't you didn't like him flicking off the uh Oh I no, I like him fine as a person. I just I don't know if he's got the the major medal in him the Moxie to win a major championship, but does he have the can he back it up?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I wish he would have showed us the units so we could really delve deep on uh on on uh on this card, because I'm sure Molinari at 900 to one was very small units for a very big win.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. I see he's got a Nakajima on there. I I I think we might have talked about this in the past, but and I don't know if we looked it up, but it was he related to Tommy Nakajima, who uh was a famous like 1980s uh or 70s or 80s uh I think he played a lot on the uh European tour and stuff, but uh really good Japanese player. He had the the famous um incident in the road hole bunker at St. Andrews where it took him like four or five swipes to get out, and they call it the Sands of Nakajima instead of Evo Jima.
SPEAKER_01So when I was playing uh when I was playing at Everett Um with uh with my wife's uncle, we get to this par three. They got back-to-back par threes to close out the uh front nine, and um it's this uh it's like 170 yards and the green goes like uh super skinny on the right, big old hill uh to the right of it where people would come and watch you coming in on the front nine. Oh, that's cool. And uh and my uh Ellen's uncle said that they called that Brady Sill because I would just kill people. I'd hit uh I'd hit these big blocks, and uh apparently um some members didn't like it. They put a sign out for him, and this old guy came in like with a club, just came and just destroys like you didn't do enough to deserve a sign on this golf course. Oh, geez.
SPEAKER_03Old guys get grumpy, man. Yeah, I don't think you can help it. The older I get, the grumpier I get too.
SPEAKER_01Uh so um I I still believe you are winning and probably winning uh going away for this uh for our our season-long bet. Who you got uh this week.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I think I'm gonna go with uh with Wendham Clark. Um you know it's it's I just I just like the way he's playing. I like his chances. I I think he'll he'll make me some money. Uh I don't see a miscut in his future here.
SPEAKER_01So I think I went X-Man twice and he did uh like mid-30s. So not enough, not enough to catch you, even though I have made all cuts. And you didn't. You missed a cut. Yeah. But I had almost wins. Yeah, you missed the jack, the uh the I say Jack Knapp. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, Jake. Thanks a lot, Jake. Yeah, when you kill Jake Knapp for the entire season. Yeah, I did. Yeah, I did. He gone buzzard. Uh I'm gonna go with uh Matt Fitzpatrick, and then Robbie is going five for five. Woo!
unknownSee, woo.
SPEAKER_03Um yeah, I I I um I like Matt Fitzpatrick. He was gonna probably be my play other than um other than Wyndham Clark, but uh Wendham just kind of got the edge the more I thought about it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and he played well on Sunday at uh at the Scottish seemed to have uh worked it out. He had a he had a rough Saturday too.
SPEAKER_03So yeah, yeah. No, I like stat-wise, he's the best player in the world right now. Uh if you look at just 2026 performance.
SPEAKER_01What's that what's that uh God, those guys that started making their own ranking uh with the live stuff? Oh I can't think of the name of it. Anyway, is he is he ever won on theirs? No, you made me think of that. I was gonna go look it up, but I can't I can't remember what that ranking is called.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. He's he's like perfect on the year with like 13 made cuts. Uh when he makes the cut, he finishes in the top 25 like 60% of the time. And then like half of his top 25s are top tens, and you know, half of those are are uh runner-ups or wins. You know, he's he's he's having an insanely good year, and it's like nobody noticed.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah, and it'll be uh it'll be again, it'll be interesting because the greens are apparently pretty receptive for as crusty as the uh as the fairways are, so uh the guys will get to play some really cool shots in the greens gr if they can stay in the fairway. Yeah, you know, I think Faldo said it's not it's not like it doesn't matter how fast the the uh the golf course is running, how far you can hit it, it's if you're gonna run out of space on the line that you hit it. Exactly. And that's what that's what this course was made to really do.
SPEAKER_03Exactly. Oh, yeah, you're gonna see some wild stuff out of the out of the Heather this week, no doubt.
SPEAKER_01So uh what we didn't talk about, and we can wrap up, um, you you planned a trip to uh Wild Spring Dunes.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, I'm excited. Uh our our own little Bandon Dunes, you know, within a uh a relatively short drive from home. Um and and we're kind of getting that experience like if I don't know if did you ever read the Dream Golf book? No. Uh so it talks about the construction of of Bandon Dunes and and um they did like no promotion for the longest time. It was just all word of mouth, and and the guys that were there are walking in a similar situation that we are, like there wasn't lodging on site, and you know, Bannon is like in the middle of freaking nowhere, so it's not like you could go stay at a Hampton Inn down the road. You'd you know, you had to like sleep in your car or RV or at a crappy motel uh you know somewhere. And um, but they still came, you know, and and um, you know, that's kind of the experience I think we're gonna have here. There won't be lodging. We now we are staying at a pretty nice hotel about 15 minutes away. Um and uh it's gonna be a short trip. I think we're gonna try and plan a round that makes sense on the drive up. And then um, yeah, we're going out. Um I I had joined like their little insiders club or whatever on their website, so I got kind of first dibs when the tea times became available and hurried up and booked a couple of tea times and and we put together a pretty good group. And um, yeah, I'm excited about it.
SPEAKER_01Um yeah. Yeah, um uh I had to back out for the time being. We'll see. We'll see, because I'm sure someone's gonna back out.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah, yeah, no doubt.
SPEAKER_01As uh putting together enough golf trips, I've seen uh what happens a month out from uh from a golf trip.
SPEAKER_03They actually uh texted me today. There was a tea time later that day that opened up, so uh we could always book another time, but it wasn't until like twelve thir twelve forty-six. But um yeah. Um it's it's Tom Doak design is the one is the first design. And you know, they found this crazy good piece of property in in like East Texas that uh is big sand hills, uh big sand deposit. And uh so you know it's I think what they were going for was like either the Australian sand belt, you know, so your your Melbourne's or um oh what's the other one? Kingston Heath down there, uh sandy soil but more in a more of a wooded setting. And then the other places that are similar to that are those uh Heathland courses around London like uh Sunningdale and Westward Hoe and um St. George's Hill, places like that. So yeah, it should be great.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, kinda disappointed that work is uh in such a uh uh flux that uh I was really able to swing that, but it is what it is. Yeah, like Ted Ted Lasso says, believe. Well, I think that'll do it for this week, David. Um anything else you want to tell the people before we wrap this thing up? Nope, all set, man. Awesome. Uh check us out on all of our socials. Uh, Dave has been uh at least uh throwing some things on there every now and again. Um I I do find it funny we are both logged on to the golf blur Twitter account, and uh I don't follow anything on that one, but I get uh I get alerts uh of who we follow, and I'm some of the times I'm like, how the hell do we follow that person? Oh, Dave.
SPEAKER_03And it's always uh probably just interacted with with them, you know, replied to a post or something or liked a post. Yeah. Uh what's kind of funny is I have like three different Twitter pages open on my uh on my phone, and sometimes I'll like comment on something political or whatever from the golf blur. I'm like, oh, delete, delete, delete, delete. Because I can be a little candid in my views.
SPEAKER_01Well, that'll do it for uh the major season for us. Uh I'm sure we'll do one or two more when uh when the playoffs start, and then we'll probably do one final one to wrap up the season, and then we'll kind of see where things go.
