They both lament the death of Jeeves. Matt doesn't know if any gaming will be in his near future, but a PBS tote back just might.
Six checks we learned that last episode, remember? Yeah. Waka? Waka waka. Waka waka. Fozzie bear? Yeah, Fozzie. Fozzie Wazzy was a bear. Hey, hello. Hello, everyone. I'm Maddie Flames. That's some heavy flamage. That's right. Some flammage. Flame dam a ding dong. Flamable. Flambaceous. Hot.

Intro
SPEAKER_00Almost gamers.
SPEAKER_03Good evening. And welcome to the Almost Gamers podcast featuring Andrew Wilds and Dr. Matthew Fearick.
unknownWow.
SPEAKER_03Here to entertain, enlighten, and probably get a lot of fucking things wrong.
SPEAKER_04That's a guarantee. Okay. I thought you were going for an emperor, but then you kind of went into like a priest.
SPEAKER_03I was going for the think um think uh, you know, uh channel 13 PBS. You know. I got you. Yeah, like uh um masterpiece theater. Okay. That's I guess what I was going for. Who knows what's on my mind, folks? No one knows. I never welcome back to the world's bestest almost gaming podcast out there. We were uh in the spotlight, right? Oh, yeah, yeah. Some well, somebody spotlight. Yeah, somebody had us in there uh that was a uh uh Spotify spotlight. Okay. Yeah, I don't know how, but that probably just means that he's listened to it before and it was like, hey, why haven't you listened in a while? Uh yeah, anyways, we were talking about we were in somebody's uh Spotify Spotlight. But the big news, just two days ago, did you see? Did you see? We hit five hundred downloads. That was that's pretty cool. Oh, that was pretty cool. Yeah, it was it took us a long time to get to like 400 or like 350. And then we went from like 350 to 495, like really quick. Yeah, and I feel like those last five just took forever. Maybe because it's watching like every day. Yeah, yeah. Addictive to good so thank you, folks. We are a growing, yeah, still hitting many a different countries. Yeah. And it slowed down a little bit. Yeah, it did slow down a little bit, but uh it's exciting. Hey. So again, thank you everybody. Appreciate you. And uh thank you. Uh, you know, uh, if you want, we would love if you checked us out on uh Reddit or our socials. Uh I guess the only thing on a social media we have is Instagram. Uh I am not bothering Facebook. I don't know, I'm not even on Facebook anymore. No, I'm not sure. Um I thought about doing the blue sky, but apparently that sucks too. Yeah, sure as shit ain't doing Twitter or X. Sorry. If you like you like it, it's fine. It's just no, no. Yeah. Threads, I guess, is the other one. Yeah, I think Insta and uh and uh Reddit are good enough for this podcasty. Unless, hey, if you own your own social media network and you want us on it, hit us up on a different social media network. And we will totally join you. Right. Yeah, I'm down. Or comment on our YouTube.
SPEAKER_04Oh, yes, yes, probably reach us somehow.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, yeah. I I now went back and added the links to all our socials and all of our YouTube comments about so or description thing. So the thing I talk about every episode, I'm like, yeah, look below for a link to it's actually there. I'm no longer a liar. You confuse everybody. You confuse us all. Well, you know, text me. I'm slow. Okay. So, Andrew, what else? I think you got something for us. Yeah, two things. And they're probably for video for you listeners. Uh we apologize. Yeah, our intro is always like very visually. Yeah. Well, um, use your imagination.
SPEAKER_04Yes. So if you're listening. So I got this for an anniversary gift. Anniversary? Yeah, well. Oh, your marriage. I thought you meant for the podcast.
SPEAKER_03I think we just did a year, actually.
SPEAKER_04Although we should get each other gifts. Yeah. Um, I'll monit next time. Yeah, maybe next year. Um, but yes, marriage anniversary. And one of the things is we try to stick it really exclusively to the um Oh, the traditional traditional or the modern, but yeah, like the gifts you're supposed to get. And this is made of tin, I guess, is why I got it. And she just got it for f for me for fun. But I said, you know what, I don't really have a place to put it necessarily. And I thought of it on the par. So for their listeners. Maybe Matt'll describe it.
SPEAKER_03Oh, it is a license plate. It looks like a Euro style license plate. It's very long. And it says Jedi Way. Oh, but it's made up of um letters from license plates of different states. Like, is that uh I from Pennsylvania? Oh, yeah. I think it is. Oh, yeah, hey, here we here's a fun YouTube challenge. Um first person that can figure out every state that one of these letters is taken from um wins several prizes.
SPEAKER_04So that's why I asked for push tags.
SPEAKER_03Oh, you want to push it up there? Yeah. For now we can't do that. For now, I'll just put in front of Alduin. Yeah, that's fine. He will guard our plate.
SPEAKER_04So, yeah, I thought it'd be a fun little addition to our growing backdrop. Yeah, I like it. Okay. Yeah, yeah. So, and the second Matt, agree.
SPEAKER_01Is this part of a challenge? I think this is part of a challenge. Of the hot tamale challenge. Everybody.
unknownWoo!
SPEAKER_03So what is it? I have to eat exactly one handful. A whole handful at one time. Oh boy. Oh boy.
SPEAKER_04So I guess we'll get it out of the way now.
SPEAKER_03Yep, let's um. So they're there's if so they're like little candies, but they're hot cinnamon. Hot cinnamon. Sorry, fierce cinnamon.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I don't know if that's the I think that might be another version that's even.
SPEAKER_03Oh, great. You got the extra hot.
SPEAKER_04But this is all uh Target had. Yeah, they are. I'm surprised they have them at all, to tell you the truth. Um so for the listeners, I might edit this up depending on how crazy this goes. So if you want to see the full thing, go to the YouTube.
SPEAKER_03Is that a handful? Is that a handful? I think that's a handful. That's so many.
SPEAKER_04All at once, Matt.
SPEAKER_01Chew that. Oh my god, so Matt's eating.
SPEAKER_04You can tell.
SPEAKER_01Mmm, mmm, more spiciness is starting to hit me all about. I'm glad you're narrating. I was worried you would make it for riveting you too. Okay.
SPEAKER_04I haven't had a hotamole in a long time.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god, I'm like, my mouth is so watery. Mmm. Well. Do not try this at home.
SPEAKER_04It's the new cinnamon challenge. I'm all sweaty.
SPEAKER_01Woo! There you go. Come on, Dom. A little more to eat here.
SPEAKER_04You want to do some more? No. I'm done for the rest of my life, thank you. The hot tamale challenge. Don't do it at home. Ooh. Woo! It was fat-free though. That's good to know. So, uh. Oh, I can smell the cinnamon now. Yeah. No bad breath anymore, just pure cinnamon.
SPEAKER_03Yes, I feel like a Pokemon. I don't know. Is there cinnamon Pokemon? There should be. Cinnamon. Cinnamon dragon. Cinnamon.
SPEAKER_04Cinnamon.
SPEAKER_03Well, that was refreshing in a weird sort of way. Well, you handled it pretty well. Okay. Now, as I go into diabetic shock, let's uh what else you got? Anything else? That's our intro, I guess. Okay. That's that's a good, yeah. Did you have fun? I'm gonna go uh wash my mouth out and uh take some insulin. See you guys in a bit.
What Yinz Playin
SPEAKER_03What yin's playing? Okay, what yin's playing? Everybody's favorite segment, except for us, because uh I don't know, it's causing me a lot of stress lately because I feel like I need to perform, you know. I need some performance-enhancing drugs, I think. Or time time capsules, that's what I need. I need some time capsules.
SPEAKER_04What's the what's the stuff that the ex-baseball player and football player they've indoors? It's like the Tesla round stuff.
SPEAKER_03I don't know. Yeah, whatever. You know, comment. We'll need that, but for games games gamer juice vitamin B. Alright. So, did you play anything, man? Um, I played a couple hours twice of Crimson Desert. And that was it. Okay. I intentioned on playing some more of it, and it didn't, it just didn't happen. Um, yeah, I'm sorry. And I really don't have much more to report. I'm getting a little better at it. I'm I'm learning the mechanics, and I'm actually still in the like the uh the the the newlywed phase. So I'm still loving it, and I just no time. Right. But uh yeah, having good times, having good times. Um that's it for that one. I do have another one, but um I I got a something. Oh well.
SPEAKER_04But if you got some somethings, you can uh Yeah, well, this is n not a new game, but I felt like maybe I should go into it a little more detail. Uh I went back and really hit Doom Dark Ages. How good! Yeah, I only put like seven hours prior to this. Okay, maybe a little more. Yeah, it's about all uh I probably doubled it on probably and I'm a little over halfway. So I'm getting I mean, I'm I think I got all the power-ups and all the uh guns and stuff. So I have no reason to go on. Wow. Yeah, other than just completionism. I mean I could still power up, but I got access to a lot of things that I think that's the end of access, and then the rest of the game you just you can level some stuff up. But yeah, I thought we kind of touched on the game, but we never really went into a lot of detail.
SPEAKER_03No, neither one of us had gotten far enough along to really want to give too much of our thoughts and opinions on that, you know, yeah, kick ass and fun. Right. But hard.
SPEAKER_04So some of this might you might know already, but I thought for our audience might maybe go into a little more detail. Let's go in. Yeah. And actually, this past week, I think it just had a year anniversary. I thought it's been about a year, yeah.
SPEAKER_03So yeah, people were saying nice things. So our podcast, Doom Dark Ages, and your marriage all had an anniversary around the same time. We'll have to remember that. There we go. We'll combine them next year.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. But yeah, this this Doom lives up. It's the core mechanics are still from Doom 2016 and Doom Eternity. That's Eternal. Eternal. Eternal. I wrote it wrong. Sorry. I'm on it. I'm on it. I'm always keeping you on your toes. You really are. Mr. Multiplier. Oh, I hated that. Oh my wife heard me like moan. Like, I did like the no from like Darth Vade or in the other room. I almost I almost jumped off my roof.
SPEAKER_03Well, it was so the fun. I don't mean it, you know, drag it up, but it was so funny when I corrected you and you looked at me like I'm crazy.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. I was so confused. And it doesn't matter. Yeah, I guess that would have been a response, but we'll put it in here now. Yeah. Unfortunately, I meant multiplayer, not player. Multiplayer, yeah.
SPEAKER_03But you kind of at one point you merged the words into its own words. Yeah, but I kind of want to make a game based on a multiplier.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I don't know what happened there, but I guess just nerves. But we'll we'll go with nerves. Too much gaming. Too much game. This one is your classic first person hype action shooter for those who don't really know the series that well. Mm-hmm. That's a good description, yep. And uh a lot of adrenaline, the music's intense, everything is about energy. So this this one maybe leans into maybe more open levels, kind of like Borderlands one, two, and three.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it did. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Uh the other ones had a little bit, but this one I think leaned into it more. And by that it just meant it's kind of like open world. There's big like open spaces. Open spaces. Yeah, right.
SPEAKER_03Is that a more f well they don't have open bigger open spaces, I guess.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. I don't know how you describe it, but essentially it's like a big map, and you can kind of explore it at as you want, and there's obviously things you have to do within that map, but there's a lot of collectibles and different things you can get on the map.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, which you didn't like? I I have a I have a I always have a tough hate slash love with it. And for some reason this this new or doom series has always that's always been the death of me. Okay. Sometimes I can't let go. Like when I know I see it and I I know how to get it, but it just takes too much time. And by the time I get it, you know, I'll I have limited time, so it's it's like you know you just want to get on with the action. But I can't because it's good. It's good at making you want to get which is a great thing. I mean, it's good right there from the case. I love it.
SPEAKER_04But yeah, for me it's just and I did write down there that later on, but yeah, I I agree. One of the downsides to them is that you're constantly checking your map. So it's kind of taking you out of the action a little bit. But I like it. It gives me an end. And I also like it too because it it kind of gives you a little bit of a rest between big fights. Yeah, sure. So I don't know that I I like that aspect. But yeah, so maps are basically and then there's heavy enemy zones within the map. So when you get into this zone, you fight a crazy horde of enemies. Yeah, and it locks you in because these big shield walls are pin you into this zone, and then it goes absolutely crazy. Um music goes nuts. And then one of the things you have to get used to is there's no reload in this game. Oh, yeah. You don't have time to reload. Yeah, it's just such chaos, such high energy. And so that that's something that takes getting used to because you always kind of want to reload from most games. But this game doesn't bother. And the biggest change with this game from the previous ones is the combat is a little slower, as we kept saying, more a little more deliberate. But I liked it. Yeah, and they lean on this new mechanic, hence the Dark Ages is you have a shield now. And so the shield is a huge part of it. And so when you're using your shield, use enemies they do obviously do melee and projectile type combat, and it's a variation. They they all do the some form of either. But when projectiles are fired at you, they're deliberately slow. And you can dodge them pretty easily. And the red ones, uh if they're colored red, that's kind of a normal projectile. You can block it, but you have limited amount of time blocks before your shield is useless and you get hit. But the green is the ones where you can parry. And so if you see that green projectile, you you want to put your shield up at the right time and then you can parry it. And so that's a fun mechanic. Yeah. Because then it fires something back and they get stunned for a split second, or they open up uh a a chance to hit them with a weapon if they have a shield. So there's now, yeah. Yeah, and later on it actually there's um runes you can add to your shield. Oh, yeah. I don't think you got to the runes. No, no.
SPEAKER_03I knew I knew it was a lot more common.
SPEAKER_04I just uh Yeah, and I've officially got the last rune. Like there's different there's three different runes, and then they all have their own power-ups, so you can level them up as you go. Oh, cool. And they do more offensive things. Like the last one I just got was electricity. So if you block, it shoots electricity at them, and then if they're all stunned, then they're stunned. And when you level it up, you can stun more people around them or more demons. There's no people in this, there's just demons. That's right. Um So that's fun. I think that's a really worthy addition if they keep going with it. But I don't know how they will with it because uh this is medieval time, so I don't know how they'd bring the shield into future games if they don't go with the medieval thing.
SPEAKER_03I think every game has been a little different. Yeah, I I don't think they'd they'd do that mechanic again. Or now, you know, they're all about every everybody's up about trilogies. So I wonder if now they'll uh change her up entirely.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I think the series is probably gonna have to do that. I mean, I'll maybe go completely different route. Yeah. Uh yeah, so that's the shield. Uh the shield you can throw like Captain America. Yeah, I remember that. Yeah, and it comes back, so you can weigh it.
SPEAKER_03I don't remember certain enemies where that's the thing you had to do to get them, right? Or wasn't it? I remember every enemy kind of had its own gimmick for the way to like stun it or kill it or something, right?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, well, you can stun enemies with it too. So like if on heavier enemies, like little enemies, you just chop them in half, which is funny. But then bigger enemies, some of them you can it just gets lodged into their chest and it continues to like saw them. Because they're saw blades, I should say, around the shield. Yeah. Which is cool. I think it looks like a bigger everything about this game is over the top and fun. Right. But yeah, and it gets lodged in their chest, and then they can't move for a split second, which is huge against certain enemies because some of them are pain in the ass. Um so yeah.
SPEAKER_03Pain in the chest.
SPEAKER_04Pain in the chest. There you go. So yeah, weapons are great. Plenty of weapons. They all have alternate one, alternate modes, I should say.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yes, yes. I remember that being really cool. Yeah. Yeah. Some of the new bolt rifle thing. I remember liking it with uh rifle, okay. Yeah, it was like a sniper. Yeah, yeah, the the I think it's been a while. Man, I'm getting excited. I want to go back in. Yeah. I might have to start over though, because I don't remember. See, that's what happened to me. The mechanics, right? Yeah.
SPEAKER_04So I I I actually took a huge break. I probably took six months off, maybe four months off. And I was that's part of the reason I never played it. Was like, can I do it? But did you? Or did you start over? I don't know. I didn't start over. I just I went into the fire and just went for it. And eventually I got off.
SPEAKER_03It's not I th I thank you.
SPEAKER_04I th I think that's the hope I maybe need. And if you're not that far along, you probably don't need to remember too much. They add a lot. I mean they add like the other games. It keeps adding new parameters for the first couple levels. You keep it. Yeah, that's that's great.
SPEAKER_03That it slowly adds and yeah, keep keeps you engaged. I like that I like that style.
SPEAKER_04You might be early enough, you might not have to. Yeah. Some of the weapons I just want to say, and I'll try to hurry this up, but uh the one new one, and I I don't know which ones have crossed over from the other games, but there's a a weapon called Chain Shot, and you probably haven't got this. This is pretty this is pretty far along. Okay. You too, Andrew. It's essentially it's just a gun that shoots a ball and chain, essentially. And it's like a cannon ball. Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that that was uh uh an old naval war warfare thing. Oh really? Yeah, because then it would like wrap around the mast. Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Well, this one it it stays the chain stays with the gun, so you fire it. Oh, okay. And then it pulls itself back in. Oh, okay. And then you can fire it again. And it has limited it's very limited in its shots. Yeah, and I like it. It's pretty powerful and it's good at when you get to enemies with armor, it's really good against them. But one of the upgrades that I got and it really made a um difference maker was that if you do the green block certain energy attacks, you it automatically because you can charge it up, it it the next shot is automatically charged. So if you do a successful parry, I should say, the next shot will be charged, and it's really, really powerful when it explodes. Gotta be good a parry in though, huh? Yeah. Which I we're not team parry. But risk parry not being too bad. Like I I should also mention I'm playing on Nightmare.
SPEAKER_03I believe you can't of course you are. But can't you individually tweak how easy the parry is? Yes.
SPEAKER_04Yes. And that's what I was gonna say. I'm playing on Nightmare because I hate myself. And I there's sometimes where I want to rage quit, but then I always remember, like, I'm playing on Nightmare and I could easily make this on easy. Exactly. But I don't. And for people who don't know, Nightmare is I think technically the hardest level. They do have like normal, easy, and I forget what the other one is. There's four, I think. And then as Matt said, which is nice, and I don't know if this was in the other games, at least not right away, is you can tweak every single parameter of combat to make it either harder or even even even easier if you want to.
SPEAKER_03I I like that in games because you can make it harder, which sometimes you want that challenge, but there might be one thing you're bad at. Yeah. Like parity in me. So I love it. I can play on the harder mode, but make that one thing easier. Yeah, exactly. And they let you do that. Yeah, tweaking that. Oddly enough, Ubisoft games have been very good at that the past couple years. People, you know, bitch about Ubisoft, but they they've been doing that for a while now. Oh really? Yeah. I didn't know that. Yeah. Uh yeah, they basically got rid of like the hard, easy medium. It's all just tweak. What you good at, what are you bad at? Yeah. Yeah. And I think people overall like it for that. And that's the way to do it, man. It's I always say it's not about how good you are, it's about how much fun you're having. Yeah. But again, I realize too easy is just is no fun. Right. It ruins the challenge, the excitement of the game. Yeah. So that that's that's a great solve for it. Make it harder, but make that thing you're shit at. Yeah. Maybe a little easier. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04And yeah, the the parry system is very easy, even on Nightmare. Like I I sometimes I'll spam the button because I can't predict their movements that well, and it still works. Even if you just get it within the somewhat of the window. So it it's it's meant to be used. It's not Dark Souls difficult or anything by that. But the game, even though I said it's slower, is absolutely still a fast-paced game by everybody's parameters. Because what they don't do, the the projectiles are slower for that reason, so you can parry them, but everything else, like we enemies are constantly coming at you, you can't stand still for any amount of time. You constantly run, you constantly have to go pick up power-ups. Yeah, so you have to pick up power up. There are all these power-ups throughout the whole area. Uh health, that's also includes health and armor. So it it is a really fast game. It's just there's like the combat's different pacing. But you get used to it, and it's it can be brutal. And I I've gone to the rage quite a couple times. I've yelled at the game, but then I remember I'm doing this to myself. Right.
SPEAKER_00You do it too.
SPEAKER_04And I guess it's now and uh I think we covered everything. There we go. Alright. I think that's pretty good, thorough. And I'm still absolutely loving it. It's worth it. Yeah, yeah. I'm I'm determined to finish. Um like I said, uh I'm uh I think I'm on chapter 18 of 22. I'm looking forward to that update.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and I'm in another one. You defeat uh I don't even know. There's that dude with the ship who's apparently evil. There you go. Yeah. I'll defeat that guy for you. Right, right, right, right. Alright. Okay. It wasn't too long and tedious. It was interesting because I I needed a recap because yeah, I'd forgotten story wise entirely how to play that game. Sorry. I don't really pay attention to the story. Yeah, it was kind of funny to me because I'm like, wait, is this a prequel, sequel? Am I missing something? No, apparently not.
SPEAKER_04It's just if you want to know the story, just go to like a Reddit or go for that. Read it on. Go for that.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03Go read a book.
SPEAKER_04Read a book, but anyway. Go ahead. What was your uh other?
SPEAKER_03So mine is actually, and I've been saving this. I played this a while back, um, but never really had a place for it. I thought I'd save it for a you know time when I didn't play anything else. Here we go! Alright. So, um, this is one of the games I played on Game Pass when I was just uh uh looking for something to play, and I saw it was there. I'm like, you know what? I kind of remember hearing about this game, didn't remember much about it. Um so here we go! This is The Alters.
SPEAKER_04I didn't see this one.
SPEAKER_03This is from 11-bit Studios. Um I know them from Frost Punk. And it reminds me a little bit of Frostpunk. But I didn't realize they all they've made it, they've made a ton of indie games that I know. Um Moonlighter, Children of Morda. I think you played Children of Morda.
SPEAKER_04I have it on my wish list. I don't I never played. Okay. It's it's a decent game.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's on sale right now. Yeah, I mean, so that they make a lot of strong indie games. To me, this this seems like they're at least looking wise, more big budget, but might not be. They might just be really good at what they're doing. Uh, it is available on Xboxes, so it's an Xbox X and S. Uh PS5 and PC. Sorry, switching Mac people. Um it is ultra wide compatible, and I think it looks like you're watching an IMAX movie. This is, I think, the best use of ultra wide I've ever seen. It's just super immersive, and I'm like, yeah, this is what ultra wide is made for. And I was very impressed by that whole aspect. So that's cool. Kudos to them for really doing that. But boo on them for not being able to handle HDR whatsoever. Um it's not just they don't use it, but if you have it natively on in Windows, it completely washes out the screen. To the point of, you know, what is that, that brightness slider, and it's like turn it down to you can't until the image is barely visible. You turn it all the way down, it's still very visible. So they may have fixed it. This is probably about three or four months ago I played this game, but yeah, definitely. So turn off HDR in Windows if you're going to be playing this game, it's gonna totally fuck it up. Okay, I guess it's not really any fault of their own, you know. Um this is you know, this is entirely a Windows thing. If you're playing this on Xbox or PlayStation, it's not gonna matter, it's gonna be off when you start the game if it doesn't support it. But Windows tries to do, I think it's like adaptive HDR for games that don't have HDR. I think that's the issue. Anyways, um this game ran rough on my laptop. I was getting like 40 frames per second, it was almost unplayable. Um, so I just wanted to see how it run natively on my laptop, and nope. So I I went to uh it is available on gForce now, and it ran great. Um again, I I say this all the time. If you're using gForce now, especially turn on your DLSS all the way up, turn on your frame, Jen. That's the entire point of it. I'm not getting into this argument about why or why not do it. Fake frames and all that shit. It works great. Just use it, fucking use it. Maybe not every game. I don't know. But I was getting but so just for comparison's sake, without it, I was barely getting 40. With all that shit, I was getting 170. So yeah, a little improvement. A little improvement. And uh I just don't know if that means I think we're still recording, folks. We just want to check and make sure. Yeah, it just uh fell asleep. But oh, that's a red light. Oh, that's right. Sorry. Tally light? Tally light?
SPEAKER_04Is that what it is?
SPEAKER_03I don't know. So here's another problem with one of the YouTubers that I follow, Geeky Nerdy Tech, who I don't know if he has a guitar channel, but I haven't looked at it at all. But he other one is about video film. I learned a lot from him. But he's Australian. So I don't know if some of the terms he used are Australian terms, or he just has a weird accent, but he always calls it or tel. I can't do it. I'm doing a terrible, I am so sorry, dude. I'm that was a terrible Australian. Anyways, yes. Oh more New Zealand and Australia. So if we make fun of Australia, I think we're better off.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I mean that's what uh was an enaple, right? He won an apple. No, that was that.
SPEAKER_03That was a Z Lanzari. Yeah, it was. Yeah, it was. Yeah. Wow, folks. We haven't gone on a good tangent like that in a long time. If you've anyone followed that train of thought, six points to you. Anyways, we're still recording because I can see the red LED light in the front. I got it. We'll keep an eye. Sorry. Sorry to get derived.
SPEAKER_04It's just we've had issues in the past that I didn't even want to drop. Right.
SPEAKER_03Oh no, yeah. Yes. No more of that, folks. Alright. Have you so one problem I have with this game, I wanted to bring this up, is the sensitivity. Do you always adjust your XY sensitivity? Not always, but sometimes. Do you do you yeah, do you let the de trust the developers? Usually. But right away. This game, I remember having a trouble with that because it would I felt like really bad. Okay. So I I think it was too slow. Too slow, yeah. Or was it too fast? It's been too long enough. Whatever way it was, too slow for it. It was it was beyond what I felt acceptable. I'm like, I have to change it. I you I never do. But yeah, that's yeah. I usually try to trust the developers, but sometimes I mean it's there to change it for a reason. Yeah. So I changed it. Um, but yeah, so it looks great. I absolutely love that. Um also want to talk about um things that I change and whatnot, subtitles. What's your thoughts on subtitles on games nowadays? I mean, I use them all the time. Yeah, I do too. I used to hate them. I they bothered me, but sometimes I would have to use them. Now I'm just on no flat out use them. No, I always use them. Um and I don't know if it's because they try to fuck more with dialogue. You know, they used to always because it was always clarity was a problem because the technology wasn't very good. The bitrate wasn't very good. They spoke clearly and eloquently. And now they just kind of go for more of like colloquial accents, FX, you know, people in masks and hoods, oh yeah, and these crazy ass names. Right. Like George R.R. Martin style names. Yeah. You know, like I can't follow that. If you're like, oh, she won't turn the Krami, and now you have to go to Ramjah. And I'm like, I don't I don't know, and there's no way to replay the cutscene. I'm fucked. I have nowhere to fucking go now. Yeah. Yeah. I'm sorry. I hate it, but no, I just flat out. I do it on TV and movies and I don't still on TV unless it's British. But um definitely but yeah, so now in um I just leave subtitles on in games. So um, yeah. A pop your opinion, let us know, folks. Let us know what uh how your uh subtitles being. That's right, comment. So this game, the best I can describe it, is a little bit like Fallout Shelter plus a survival first person no sorry, third person survival game. Um you have a little base, you kind of build it up. Um there's a timing-based system, which uh, you know, days only last so long and you have to get back to base before the day ends. I typically hate that sort of thing, but it was kind of okay working here. And you do get a get to a point. I thought the entire thing was um k day-based. Uh in other words, you have like 90 days before the world ends, or something like that. And it is kind of like that, but not really. It it's complicated. It seems like it stops time, if you will, at certain points to let you figure shit out. But it's still there, still is a kind of a time um mechanic. So I I didn't like that a whole hell of a lot. But there is the main premise reminds me a little bit of a quantic dream game. Um, those are games like Heavy Rain. Yeah, I never played that and um Detroit something.
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, Detroit uh Become Human. Yeah, all those weird, weird ass. Yeah, I I've seen them, but I never played it. Um they're neat and they're they're very story heavy, and this one pretty much is, but I really enjoy it. Um the main premise is, and I guess spoiler, I didn't know this, but I think it's probably built into the game. Like you can't not know this unless if you really pay attention to the game, but it's called the altars, because what it is is your crash land on this planet alone. But you realize you're not gonna be able to get out of here on your own. You need like a scientist, you need a mechanic, you need a uh botanist. So on board, they have this device that allows you not just to clone yourself, but using the rare element you found on this planet, which kind of manipulates time, you can alter your own life path. So you can alter your life choices so that you become a mechanic or you become a botanist. So the entire game you're building up a crew of yourself, but from alternate timelines. Wow. And it makes a very interesting because some of your alters don't like the fact that you've done this, and like, you know, there's the whole well, which is the real me. Until that's gonna come into fact, like, hey, once we try to get off this planet, like, you know, what happens? Do we murder all the clones? I f we haven't touched on that yet, but I'm sure that's gonna be a coming play. But so that's it's pretty neat, it's pretty interesting. And you actually do replay the parts in your life and have to make this different decisions, so it's neat. Like, I wouldn't expect that at all. Like, I'm like replaying, like it's a storybook kind of thing, replaying like the fight I had with my girlfriend 20 years ago, you know? Yeah. And that's what makes me become a botanist. Reasons. So I really enjoyed that. Again, the time loop, uh well, not time loop, the time restraint mechanic. I wasn't too horrible on. There was an exploration, it was it's kind of neat. I I just ran out of time, moved on to other things, and haven't gone back to it, and probably never will. There you go. That's why he's an almost gamer. Yeah, yes. But if anything that appeals to you, I recommend checking it out. Um Yeah, I don't think it appeals to me, though. Yeah, it's it's definitely kind of a niche market. Um But it was on Game Pass. It was on Game Pass. I don't know. So I don't know if it still is. Sorry, folks. Um Yeah. But uh yeah, uh, the altars. Uh check it out either way. See if it's something to pick up. Give it some love if you give it some love. Yeah, definitely a good good company. They've they've come out with a bunch of great games. Cool. Uh Frostpunk is another game that I like. Oh, those the Frostpunk I played on one of those overnight when I had to stay up all night because I was working overnight. Yeah, I remember you talking about that. Yeah, so I played the game for like 13 hours straight and almost beat it. Like you can beat it. Yeah, you can. It's it's tough. You get to that last part where you have to like sort of a heavy survival game. Yeah, I surprisingly, it I almost beat that game.
SPEAKER_04I I just I put it on my wish list, I think, at one time, but it just the description made me anxious. Oh my god, yeah, yeah. And I was like, I don't think I'll ever play it.
SPEAKER_03What I do what I played it once, like a couple nights before. Yeah. Just to get used to the mechanics and then start it over again. Yeah. Do that and just tell yourself I'm never gonna try it again. Like get as far as you want. Yeah, and then done. Done.
SPEAKER_04Done.
SPEAKER_03That might be the way to do it. I think it is.
SPEAKER_04That's kind of what I kind of I mean, I put a lot of time into Darkest Dungeons.
SPEAKER_03Oh, it reminds me a little bit of that. Also reminds me like Risk. Oh. You know? Yeah. It's a long commitment. It is. And when you're doing good, it feels really good.
SPEAKER_04But when you're losing, you kind of want to actually murder the people around.
SPEAKER_03I don't know why, but that's my description. Darkest Dungeon plus Risk plus cold. Sounds tough.
SPEAKER_04Alright. Yeah, because you hate tough games. Ah, you know me. I put on easy mode, right?
SPEAKER_03Alright, buddy. That's all I had. That's all I played. Yeah. That one was a bit of a stretch.
SPEAKER_04So at least one of us plays current games.
SPEAKER_03At least one of us is a gamer.
Boss Battle: Sequels
SPEAKER_00Boss battle! So this is a secret boss battle. I think this is the first time we've done a boss battle where you don't know what the boss battle's gonna be.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Alright. That's true. So, I wanted to keep it here because I didn't want you to have to think about it too much. And I tried not to think about it too much. Alright.
SPEAKER_04No thinking, everybody.
SPEAKER_03No tanking.
SPEAKER_04That's the best kind of boss battle.
SPEAKER_03That's right. So we are gonna do a true boss battle where it's me and you. Oh boy. Alright. This is the first one. So here's how it's gonna work. I'm or even you are gonna name a series, and we both have to write down. I wish you got paper for this. Oh yeah. I have a digital notebook, so I'm okay. So what we have to do is write down the number of entries in the series we think there are. Okay. Got it. Okay. And you lose one point for every one year off. Oh wow. For in other words, you say there's five, and there's only three, you get minus two points. There's actually six, you get minus one point.
SPEAKER_04Got it.
SPEAKER_03But then you also write the complete title of every entry.
SPEAKER_04Oh my lord.
SPEAKER_03For every one of those, you get right. It has to be complete. Title and subtitle if it has one. Okay. You get a point. Wow. This is tough. Well, maybe, maybe not. There are some rules. Make it a little easy. It has it can't be anything that has a weird lineage. So that's something. This is probably a terrible example for you, but that's Drakenguard and Nier. Technically, Nier is like a sequel to Drakenguard, but it's complicated. So no no games like that. Nothing that's like a weird spin-off. Those don't count. Okay. Nothing that's uncountable. Like how many Mario games are there? Oh, okay. Um, and I'm gonna say with like Zelda. Okay. Because they're just, you know, well, the the main character is too broad, it's too unknowable. Right. Also, we can't pick anything we both or either one of us knows very well. Okay. Not Borderlands. Okay. Not Assassin's Creed.
SPEAKER_05Right.
SPEAKER_03Uh although I thought about doing Assassin's Creed what was heavily weighted toward you and harshly toward me, I still think I'd win because I think I do know all of them, even the obscure mobile games. Oh, I'm not even thinking mobile. Oh yes, yeah, that's and that's where the fun's gonna come in. I want us to think about series we kind of know, but maybe don't really know. And then we're gonna we'll we'll probably pause but and then look up the actual answers. Okay. And then we'll see. So I wonder if you things that neither one of us really know. It also has to be a series that we have heard of, otherwise we can come up with it. Okay. Wow. Remakes count. Oh, okay. Remasters do not. Okay. Because the remasters tend a lot of times it's a re-release. You know, if it came out on PS3 and they re release it for the PS5, that's not a separate game. Okay. But like Final Fantasy Rebirth is a remake, so that would count as a separate. We're also mixing Final Fantasy. Way too fucking complicated. Um because nose aren't really technically sequels, so not no games like that. Alright. So we're talking about just games that have a clear lineage, have a clear amount of main entries. Okay. Or side entries actually do count. Okay. But they have to be not spin-offs, I guess, is what I'm trying to say. Okay. Okay. You kinda you kind of get the roles. I get them. I'm just gonna Okay. But I'll I'll let you go first.
SPEAKER_04This is your game.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I'm gonna go first. Again, I'm trying to think of the the whole point here is the thing of things neither one of us really know well well, but maybe you think you might have the advantage of. This one, I don't think anyone else has the advantage. Uh this is the first one I thought of. It's Crash Bandicoot. Crash Bandicoot. Crash.
SPEAKER_04So now it's on me to name how many. Both of us. Oh, we're both gone.
SPEAKER_03That's that's the key.
SPEAKER_04Like So maybe if I know it a little more strategy.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_04But I can't know it too well. Right. That's cheating. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03It's kind of working on the honor system here.
SPEAKER_04Right. It's an honor system.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. And I don't want you to, you know, like you don't have to come up with a bunch of them. I can come up with all of them. You can come up with all of them. It doesn't matter. Alright.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03So Crash Bandicoot. The first thing is you want to well, you probably if you want to start writing down all the titles you can think of. But the the idea is first we're you're gonna say how many you think there are, and then we'll look it up. Okay, and then we'll compare. Alright, ready?
SPEAKER_04I'm gonna write Crash Bandicoot.
SPEAKER_03Crash Bandicoot and Goo. Crash Bandicoot. I think there are four games. I said four as well. Okay. Which I'll say what I think the new games are called. Okay. Okay. Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2, Crash Bandicoot 3, and Crash Reloaded.
SPEAKER_04Oh wow. I just went well Crash Bandicoot and then two, three, and four, I guess.
SPEAKER_03Okay, let's look it up. Now if it's just a number and has a subtitle, oh that doesn't count. That doesn't count. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04I don't I want to know the subtitle, so it doesn't matter.
SPEAKER_03Okay, folks, so I just looked this up and I knew I thought there was a couple spin-offs, but apparently there's like 25 games. But I mean it's Crash Team Racing. That's see, that's why that that's not that doesn't count.
SPEAKER_04That doesn't count.
SPEAKER_03But I just there's so many. I'm not gonna sit here and look up and see which one is a true one, which one is not. Yeah, there's no way to know. But I'm the last one that came out, and this is what I did remember, is four. Okay. So they're well, we're gonna say there's four main line games. Okay. So the first one is So we both got four. So we both wash. We both got zero points. We didn't lose anything, so that's good. Okay. Alright. The first one is called Crash Bandicoot. We both get a point for that. Okay. Second one is called Crash Bandicoot 2, but it has a subtitle. Cortex Strikes Back. Did you get that? No, you didn't get that. No. I we both said two and three. Three, I think, because none of these actually say three. That's the problem. But it definitely had I think Crash Bandicoot Warped is the third one. It doesn't matter. None of them just say Crash Bandicoot 3. It doesn't matter. We got that one wrong. The fourth one is called It's About Time. Crash Bandicoot 4. It's about time. I don't know what I was thinking with the reloaded thing. So we both got one point. For just getting the bandicoot. I'll put my points in the we'll say points. Yep, I'm gonna go points. I'm gonna put my points in. So just for getting the total right. It was one point. No, no, getting the total right, you don't lose anything. Oh if you're off, you you get minus points. Oh, that's only minus. Yeah, you only can earn points by naming the actual t full titles. Total and yeah. I picked that one first. Let us know. And I knew neither one of us had any idea. As shown there, we both got a point. Right. Alright. Do you uh do you think you have a good one? Or do you wanna Well I guess we'll go with it. I don't know. Okay. Let's see. Yeah, it would just all just be like fun, like you know, I'm curious. How about uh what is it guitar hero? That's a good one. Guitar hero. Not rock band. No. Guitar hero. Yeah, the original, I think. Alright, and now obviously none of the expansions. We're talking about mainline. Yeah. How many guitar?
unknownOh my god.
SPEAKER_03I mmm. Yeah. This might be another one with some weird spin-offs we don't understand.
SPEAKER_02But it doesn't matter. We'll figure it out. Alright, go! Alright, folks. Alright, alright. I have a feeling we both did the same thing on this one. Guitar Hero.
SPEAKER_03Andy, um, I have Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero 2, Guitar Hero 3, and then I have Guitar Hero 4, the band. I was trying to think of something fun.
SPEAKER_02And I thought one of them.
SPEAKER_04I don't know. That's the best I could come up with. I did the same. I did Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero 2, Guitar Hero 3, Guitar Hero 4.
SPEAKER_05Oh, you didn't even try for a subtitle.
SPEAKER_04So I guess that would have been one, two, three, four, five. Yeah, five. I have five. I had five written, making sure I got my math right. Okay, folks. I just want to clarify. I actually meant five. I had five. I forgot to write the fifth Guitar Hero 5.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Okay. So you said five. I actually said four. Um so um there's seven. Wow. Seven. So you get minus two, I get minus three for right now, but you might get it back. Okay. Good luck with that. So I get minus two. So minus two for now. Yeah, minus three for now. So, there is Guitar Hero 1. Is it one? Oh no, it's just sorry, just call you alright. Just Guitar Hero. Okay. Yeah, it wasn't World War I, it was the Great War. Yeah. Um, Guitar Hero 2.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_03And then Guitar Hero 3, Legends of Rock. Okay, so that's okay. So I got Oh minus.
SPEAKER_04So if you get the title right, you get a point.
SPEAKER_03Yep. Okay, so those are two points. The fourth one was called Guitar Hero World Tour. They didn't even use the four. Okay, no four. I mean, wouldn't yeah. The fifth one was called Guitar Hero 5. Oh god, you got that one right! You saw a bitch! Sorry, I did not say that. And then the sixth one, no number, just Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock. Ooh, I like that. And the seventh one, Guitar Hero Live. Yeah. So I guess two titles right, but lost two if you're getting the wrong number. Alright. So you got I I gotta wash. I got zero. You got one. Alright, keep track of your toe. Yeah, I'm keeping track of my toe.
SPEAKER_04I got two points.
SPEAKER_03This is high scores. Alright, I'm going to delete this entire page because it makes me sad. Okay. So I guess it is my turn here. Yeah. Um I'm thinking.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I kind of wanted to do this one and I didn't know. But I'm gonna do it. It's gonna be a fun one. It'll be an interesting one. Grand Theft Auto. And I should obviously say, if the game hasn't been released yet, it does not count. No, it doesn't count. So remember, you need all, including mobiles, and you need the subtitles. Um, remakes and DLC don't count. No, DLC doesn't count. Yeah. Alright. Do it! Okay, folks, and we're back with GTA. That's Grand Theft Auto. Main releases. Um, Andrew, how many do you have? Seven. I have eight. And I'm pretty sure. Yes, you are correct. With the number at least. Yeah. So I'm already down, I have eight. So I'm down already one. Okay.
SPEAKER_04Now can I ask you if if it's is it G like if you say GTA versus Grand Theft Auto.
SPEAKER_03Oh no, yeah, shorthand's fine, man. Yeah. None of them, none of them were, they're all officially Grand Theft Auto. Okay. Yeah, yeah. I'm not making it right out Grand Theft Auto. I did. Well, I didn't. Yeah, I don't care about. I'm not that nitpicky. Okay. Unless specifically, like if we were doing Devil May Cry, technically the one game was DMC. Okay. It was literally called DMC, not DM Cry. I couldn't remember. It's not. I'm not going that crazy. Come on, man. Alright. I think we both got this. I think I just fucked up on one. Okay. First one. Oh, order doesn't necessarily matter as long as your numbers match. Uh, Grand Theft Auto. 1997. That's crazy. Yeah. Grand Theft Auto 2. Grand Theft Auto 3. Grand Theft Auto Vice City. Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. Grand Theft Auto 4. Grand Theft Auto 5. Okay.
SPEAKER_04So is it Grand Theft Auto 1 or is it just Grand Theft Auto?
SPEAKER_03Oh. Does it matter? Because I put one. Yeah, again, that doesn't. It's never one. If it is one, it's a retroed one. Okay. So yeah. Did I also get that one? Yeah.
SPEAKER_04The only one I think I got wrong is I say Grand Theft Auto 3, Liberty City.
SPEAKER_03So it's interesting. The one I got wrong, there was one called Liberty City Stories. Yeah. So I think that's what I'm saying. That one remembered that was a DLC. Yeah. I guess. It wasn't a mainline game. Alright. So you don't get points for that then, because it is just GTA 3.
SPEAKER_04So that's what I got.
SPEAKER_03Yep. Obviously, I got that one wrong because that's not a game. I got one, two, three. Oh, I got six too. Well I didn't have time on that. I am up to seven points. Where are you standing?
SPEAKER_04I got eight points.
SPEAKER_00Ooh, he's a head by one, folks. Can I go back in it?
SPEAKER_04How many we go in here? I don't know.
SPEAKER_03Till we get bored with it. Our audience gets bored with it.
SPEAKER_04They're priority bored. Too late, too late. Listening. You got one? Oh yeah, I forgot to even think of one. I was thinking of saying R GTA. Uh let's see. I get I got one. So what you got, what you got, challenge. The Fear Effect series.
SPEAKER_03Interesting. Yeah, you're talking about a lot. Um just thought about that. Alright. I want to let's do this one. I'm gonna do this one live because I want to hear your thought. Thought? Alright, I'm gonna go ahead. I want to hear you live thinking about it. And I'm just I'm just gonna I just keep thinking of the elevator sequence. Yeah, I know. So I alright, I'm gonna I'm just um my thoughts. Alright, I'm done. So go ahead. I want you here to feel I want you to do it live. Your thought process.
SPEAKER_04There's well, there's not much to think about. It's I think there's two. No. Wait, yeah, two, maybe. What did you say? Really? Well, I know Fear Effect 1. And then Fear Effect 2, I think, is the one we played. Okay. The Elevator Scene. And the Elevator Scene. Okay. And I think that's actually Fear Effect 2. I want to say it's the Halo Strain or something strain. Oh! Commit! What's it called? Well, let me write Fear Effect 1 first. Oh, just a Fear Effect, yeah. No, just Fear Effect. He wanted to put a 1, but that doesn't usually happen. Uh two. Not the Halo strain. What is it? The Andromeda. No. Now I'm all confused. Alright, we'll go um Andromeda strain. I don't know why. That feels right.
SPEAKER_03Alright, that's it. That's it.
SPEAKER_04I don't think there's any more.
SPEAKER_03I know there's at least three. I said four. Wow. Because I know there was a reboot. Okay. So I'm going with Fear Effect 1, 2, 3, and then just Fear Effect for the reboot. Oh, okay. Oh. This is gonna be it.
SPEAKER_04This is gonna be where Matt wins.
SPEAKER_03This is where I bust ahead. And he goes home and cries. I can't remember.
SPEAKER_04There's something strange.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I see. Yeah, there is a strain. There is a strain. There's a strain of him losing. Oh. Okay, folks. Sorry, sorry, sorry. Alright. Alright, folks, we're all wrong. Wow, really? There are three games.
SPEAKER_04Okay, three. I felt like there was three. I should have looked.
SPEAKER_03There is Fear Effect. I lost a point. Fear Effect 2, Retro Helix. Retro Helix? What was I getting to do? What the hell is that a terrible name? And then the reboot. Or no, I think it was a straight-out sequel. Yeah. Fear Effect. Sedna. Came out in 2018. Sedna. Wow. Sedna. Yeah. No, there was a Ruby reboot. It got canceled. I canceled my cell phone. That's what I was thinking of. Oh no, I did bad. So I said four. I lost one. Oh, I got the first one right, so that's zero. Um I got canceled out of here, too.
SPEAKER_04Eight is where I stand still. I'll take it.
unknownNice eight.
SPEAKER_04Straight, right?
SPEAKER_03Eight is straight. That's just no, eight is straight across. Oh, straight across drinks. There you go. Alright, I got one. I got one. That's gonna be interesting. Alright. Twisted metal. That's a good one. I liked the one I played. Alright, I think I know. I think I know. I think this one's easy. There's a lot. Yeah, well, there's there's a couple sp weird spin-offs. We're not gonna count those. But there is six. Jesus. Yeah. This hurt. I guess four, would you guess? Three. Oof. Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. So let me guess what your three were one, two, and three.
SPEAKER_04No, I got something different. Okay. What were your guesses? Twisted metal and then twisted metal two and then twisted metal chrome dome.
SPEAKER_03Did you uh just uh out of nowhere? I wanted to spice it up. Spice the meatball. I guessed um twisted metal one, two, three, and then twisted metal black.
SPEAKER_04Oh, I never read about that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Good guess. The actual order is one, two, three, four, black, and then a reboot later called just twisted metal.
SPEAKER_04So I got wait, I got twisted metal and one two.
SPEAKER_03How many did you guess?
SPEAKER_04I guess it's three. So you I got twisted well, I lost three. And I got twisted metal, right? That's the title, right? Yeah. And then twisted metal two. Those are the only ones I got right. Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_03So I guessed, yeah, I guessed four, but there was I lost two. But I gained one, two, three, four. So I got two points. Yeah, you took the lead.
unknownRight?
SPEAKER_04Are you sure it's not a chrome gnome anyway?
SPEAKER_03Um, yes, even one of those weird spin-offs was definitely not called the yacht.
SPEAKER_04Hooch! Alright. Hooch is not a game. If it is, how many sequels were there? We want to hear what you think. Alright, Andrew. Well, we already know what I'm gonna say. Yeah. In honor of my long segment in the podcast. Doom. Alright. Not the movies.
SPEAKER_03Uh how many how many did six? I also said six, and that is the correct answer. We all got one we both got one of them wrong. I'm positive. Three is the tricky one.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so what do you what do you got? Doom, doom two, three, and then doom 2016. Is it is that I don't even know if it has another title. Uh so technically it is just Doom. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So I didn't know. Yeah, Doom 2016's because of the nickname.
SPEAKER_04So we don't count that. I'll count it. Doom Eternal and Doom Dark Ages. It's the Dark Ages.
SPEAKER_03Oh, the. Oh, you're getting real. No, that's fine. Um, so you're right, except we both got wrong. Uh Doom 2 has a subtitle. Does it? Yeah, it's Doom 2 Hell on Earth, 1994. So you're still giving me credit for Doom 2. Yeah, so we both get one, two, three, four, five, six points. Both get six points. Oh no, five points. We both get five points, right? Yeah, yeah, fine. Yeah. So I'm at 14. That.
unknownLet's see, I'm at seven.
SPEAKER_03I was worried there was like another weird doom in the middle there somewhere. Yeah. I thought there might have been. Yeah, but there was not. So that was a good one. I'm glad you did that one. I'm very glad. That was uh good times. I got I got one. And this is just gonna be for two points. Oh. Just total. Oh, total. Total. Whichever person wins, or closest closest.
SPEAKER_04Okay, wins.
SPEAKER_03Wins. And they get those two points. And this this is gonna be one that's gonna counts everything. Spin-offs. Oh. Alright, you ready? Oh boy. Dead or alive. Oh. You don't need to name the titles. I just want the number. Okay, so we're not gonna even bother the titles. Absolutely not. Remember, this counts those what I'm not gonna say, but yeah, it counts the the volleyballs. Yes, so whatever, whatever you think. This is gonna be very interesting. Alright, folks. And man, what is your guess? Total number of dead or alive games, including spin-offs. Not remakes, obviously, of all this. Yeah, we're just gonna. Seven. Seven. I guessed thirteen. And the answer is there are six fighting games, three beach volleyball games, three. And one black jack game. So that's what? So that makes ten. Wow, we're equal. We are equal. Oh no. But I didn't go over. I went over. Yeah. We can do the prices right. You'll do the prices right rules. You get to two points. Wow. Alright. I thought there was be a lot. I'm surprised there was only there's only three volleyball.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I I thought, I mean, I knew at least one, and then I figured there's probably at least a couple more, but I underestimated.
SPEAKER_03I'm surprised it's blackjack and not strip poker, honestly. That's uh very surprising to me. Oh, and a movie. I forgot there was a movie. There is a movie. We need to watch that someday. All right. Definitely. I'm sure it's we'll watch it. Um gripping. Gripping.
SPEAKER_04Ugh. You'll be gripping something while you're watching it. I know that. Oh my god. I was gonna say it.
SPEAKER_03Alright, final round. Are we tired of thinking at 14?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, now I have 14.
SPEAKER_03Woo!
SPEAKER_04What's gonna be the ultimate? I have two. So if we want to do a bonus round, but let's I my first instincts was siphon filter. Oh man, okay.
SPEAKER_00And we're back. Alright. With the results of Gabriel Logan. Wait. It's Gabriel Logan.
SPEAKER_04He had a good damn it.
SPEAKER_00Damn it. Yeah, he had a good damn it.
SPEAKER_03Alright. This is Siphen Filter. Um, we we're both wrong. I don't know how many guessed, but you're wrong. How many games? I thought four. I said three. There's six. What? I know. I'm blowing my mind a little bit here.
SPEAKER_04Um Are you serious?
SPEAKER_03Yes. Yes. Um I'm gonna go ahead and say what you think they're called first.
SPEAKER_04Well, I got siphon filter and then siphon filter two, and then for my third one, I went a little spicy again, and I said deep infiltration.
SPEAKER_03Oh, that's good. That's real good. So I went siphon filter, yeah, siphon filter, the darkening, and then siphon filter three, all buttons in. Well, there you go. And then siphon filter four was just titled siphon filter.
SPEAKER_04I'm sure that's what they did.
SPEAKER_03Um I got one of those, right? So times were simpler. It was siphon filter, siphon filter two, sipher filter and three, and that was 99, 2000, 2001. Okay, and then in 04 it was siphon filter the Omega string. I remember that. But then in six and seven, there was Dark Mirror and Logan's Shadow. Wow. Nobody played those. I do not remember that.
SPEAKER_04I thought it I I was worried there wasn't another, like it would be boring, like one and two.
SPEAKER_03That's uh I thought I for shot. Oh, anyways. So I guess for so I'm minus two. And believe it or not, I only got one name right, so I lost one. Ooh. I have thirteen.
SPEAKER_04I have uh I think with that I lost a I lost only one point. So yeah, I'm thirteen as well.
SPEAKER_02Really?
SPEAKER_04I mean, uh there's a good chance I got this all fucked up.
SPEAKER_03But well, I guess we're gonna have to do your tiebreaker, one. Alright, didn't you? Turok. Dinosaur hunters. Okay. I like this. I'm gonna need another page here. Right. I think I got this.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I don't have anything spicy. Sorry. Maybe Matt is gonna bring the spice.
SPEAKER_03Am I I say three. Oh, oh, oh. I also said three. Um really? Fuck. I played six. There are I thought the game got cancelled. That came out. It was that bad. There has been six. Oh, jeez. Six. I know. Games that should have stopped a while ago. Yeah, I know it was a reboot, and I thought the book got cancelled. No, it it came out. It probably just should have been canceled. Okay. Wow. What do you what do you got for names? One, or just turn turock two and three. You are wrong on all three, motherfucker. I thought you'd at least I'm being particular on the first one. Oh, is it dinosaur? Turok, dinosaur, hunter.
SPEAKER_04I said that. I should have gone with it. I thought you'd get it, but that's nope. Yeah, I'm no point.
SPEAKER_03Oh, jeez. So I said Turok the Dinosaur Hunter. Turok. Oh, actually for two, I just went T Two. T Two. Um, for three, I went Turok Three. I originally write Dino Crisis, but I realized I think that's a different series. That is a different series. So I did Dinos in Time. Dinos in Time. Yeah. Correct answers are Turok, Dinosaur Hunter, Turok Two, Seeds of Evil, Turok, Rage Wars. Then you have the three on it. Oh And then the next game was Turok 3, Shadow of Oblivion. Wow. And then Turok Evolution. And then 2008 was the reboot just called Turok. So we had no fucking chance. Well that was a good time, Brandon, because I think you got it by one point. I I lost three, but I only got one right, so I lost two points. I lost three. I won because I I was I didn't know. You said you were gonna be pretty particular. I I told I knew because I knew you. I'm like, I wasn't gonna take that was one. I was not gonna take Turok for an answer. It's Turok Dinosaur Hunter, motherfucker. Well, there we go. Alright. So now folks, uh, there's a lot of people at home who have been screaming at us for uh this entire last segment.
SPEAKER_04If you played Turok 6, you need help anyway. Yeah, yeah. I I oof who who got that right? No one did. I actually really enjoyed Turok. Yeah. It was a good game.
SPEAKER_03I kind of played a little bit. Maybe the first one, maybe the second one.
SPEAKER_04I don't know if I played the second one. The first one was fun.
SPEAKER_03I don't know. Anyways, um, yeah, that was a fun little little kind of uh on the spot boss battle. Did you enjoy it, Andrew?
SPEAKER_04I was a little nervous when you said it, but now I think it worked.
SPEAKER_03All right, buddy. I'm glad.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_03Alright.
SPEAKER_04Moving on, though.
Respawn
SPEAKER_00Respawn.
SPEAKER_03Okay, respawn time. So I have my Nothing wrong. Yeah, no. Oh, wait. Oh, yeah. My first one was actually from two episodes ago. Uh huh. Because I finally watched the whole thing. Um, wait, no. I'm sorry. The first ones were from the last episode, real quick, get it out of the way. Um, it was episode 24. Oh, that was two episodes ago. Yeah. Yeah, what had episode. Because we're in the future. We need backwards, Cab Andy's. We talked a lot. You talked a lot about doing things in post, like adding charts and some pictures and doing like a VCR effect and stuff like that. Yeah. And I didn't do any of that because I yeah, I just didn't really look. I was so that was the one where I was just, yeah. No. No. So I apologize for those of you wanting the VCR effect. Um, I'm not gonna promise to do it right now. Um I don't know if I can do that. At least not with a version of Da Vinci that I have right now. So yeah, I'm sorry for those of you saddened by that, but someday, some day that'll be the YouTube people. Yep. Oh, yeah, for the people on the actual podcast itself. Uh you don't give a fuck. And yeah, you're happy. Like, yeah, fuck them video nerds. So it's like civil war. Yes. So now going back to the boss battle in episode 23, the Borderlands ranking. Oh, remember to the Borderlands? Yeah, it was a while. But I I just oh I edited it. I was so busy editing with all like the ranking things, I didn't really listen to what I was saying. I wouldn't normally matter or care.
SPEAKER_04Go wrong is actually listening.
SPEAKER_03But I want to get my I confused my sirens, and I feel bad about it. Because it's weird when you think about it, like some of these games like Borderlands 2, I played that was like a decade ago. Yeah, you know, it's it's insane, and that's probably wrong. Fuck it, whatever. But in that I said that my favorite, and I'm not gonna change my ranking, although this probably would have had I been thinking straight at the time. Uh no, Lilith is just deserves where Lilith was. But remember, I said Lilith was like my most powerful, my most played character ever. And that she was so strong, I think they had to like nerf her at the end. I had no idea where it came without Calvo. That is not true at all, as far as I could research. And she's not my longest played by far. It was Maya. And you actually dismissed it. I did! Again, it's because you just it's been so long, I forget. I had this image of playing as someone, and in my mind it was Lou. No, it was Maya. It was definitely Maya. I played the shit ton out of Maya. I think I beat the game through twice with her. Wow. Um and she got a buff.
SPEAKER_04This is what this is what I was thinking.
SPEAKER_03She Yeah, I know. For those of you, I'm sorry. Well, still her as a person, though. That's the problem. Like her as a person, I can't remember at all. So that's why, you know, she's that unmemorable as a person. Okay. But again, maybe she was cool, but it was so long ago. But her as a character, playing as, yeah, I love her. She's probably my favorite. Again, I got it confused between the two. What I was thinking is so like years later, they actually buffed some of her builds, which is a weird thing to do. Um, and I remember that's why I went back and played her some more. I'm like, oh, this is awesome. So sorry. Shh I she probably still deserves a C tier. I was gonna ask, would you re-rank her? No, I wouldn't re-rank her, but I did want to say I by far played hers the most. Isn't anyone?
SPEAKER_04Still a C.
SPEAKER_03Still a C, probably, sure. I don't know. I won't because I'm not gonna change it. It was we're in the moment. I won't. I think that list was pretty stellar. It was pretty stellar. Very scientific. I also didn't want to say I kept wondering which one was the sadist. It was it was Nisha. It was the uh the lawbringer. She was the one that enjoyed uh uh hitting hitting people a lot. That's something Matt really likes. Okay. So that's all. I just wanted to talk about some of Borderlands characters and yeah, I think we did uh Picture Perfect, no complaints.
SPEAKER_04The only respawn I had, which we already covered, was my multiplier. Instead of multiplier, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Well, multiplier, player, multiplier, player, multiplier. Anyway. Marky player. I got it all messed up. That's right. Whatever. We've already covered that, and it was already on the video. Yeah. Well, it will be. Well, yeah, you you put a little pop up there. Yeah. At least you're supposed to. Yes. And for the people watching or listening to this, it's already out there in the world.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. But so watch the YouTube video if you want to see the correction.
SPEAKER_03See the uh text edits.
SPEAKER_04Edit, edit, edit. I got Regina in your brain.
unknownWoo!
SPEAKER_03Alright, yeah, yeah, I was just a little shorty shorts. Now let's uh move
News
SPEAKER_03on. Now it's time for the news. Alright, Dan, rather. What you got for us?
SPEAKER_04I'd rather be somewhere else. Oh. Okay, you want me to start it off? Yeah, start it off. Let's leave. Should I go AI for you? You like AI?
SPEAKER_03Oh, we love AI. It's not ending the world at all.
SPEAKER_04So there was obviously everybody was in agreement. DLSS5 was a hit, and there was no controversy. Right, nope, none at all. But Resident Evil Requiem producer sees it the backlash as a positive. Because it meant we got the design right. So he's putting a spin on it.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I see.
SPEAKER_04So all the hubbub over characters look generic and whatever you want to call it, AI slop, I guess is the term.
SPEAKER_03Means what they did was good. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04So he took it as a positive.
SPEAKER_03I like that. I like that spin. Okay.
unknownCool.
SPEAKER_04And then what oh, this might be a little respawn too, but it doesn't really matter. But Larry and Studios was another game studio that did an AMA, which I don't know what that stands for. Ask me anything, right?
SPEAKER_03You gotta answer your own question.
SPEAKER_04So they did uh AMA and they had a lot of AI questions. I said Kingdom Come deliver deliverance too. Yeah. Did but they actually did too, and it got sidebarred by a lot of AI questions too. So I got it right without n actually knowing. Oh, okay. Okay. So I kind of fell into Oh, okay, gotcha. But it was I was actually thinking of Larian Studios.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I okay.
SPEAKER_04So I was happy. It was a happy accident.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, right.
SPEAKER_04So that was my two AI articles. Do you have anything before I keep going?
SPEAKER_03Um yeah, I got a uh I got a little interesting one here. Um a lot of people have always kind of wondered, like, Nintendo, your games always come out, well, A. Very polished and no bugs. And B, it's never you never hear about a Nintendo major release getting swallowed up by like a different release, like a GTA release or not a big game release. So uh former Nintendo employees confirmed that Nintendo holds on to finished games until they find the rela the right release. So not only do they wait until they're absolutely done, they might be done and they could hold on to them for like a year. Wow. Until they're A, absolutely sure they're polished, and B, absolutely sure it's the right time to release it. That's pretty smart though. If you have the money. If you have the money or the yeah, yeah. I mean, that's a ballsy move. Yeah, right. Oh, the new Zelda is totally done and ready to come out. But uh what's going on next year? How do you guys out for next year? That's crazy.
SPEAKER_04But you know, Nintendo is pretty much untouchable.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and then that's kind of one, it's part of their like ethos, is just do the best, release it the best, make sure it's all the best.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, you said that. You've said it. So good for them? Yeah, great for them. Maybe not for the fans who want the games as soon as possible.
SPEAKER_03What are they gonna do? Not buy it. Yeah, right.
SPEAKER_04They they sell. Right? That's interesting. I didn't hear that at all. Alright. Here's a quick one for you, man. So Fallout the show. Yes. This is actually a show shirt.
SPEAKER_03Oh, oh, what's the show?
SPEAKER_04For the listeners, I have a Fallout shirt on. And this is actually a Fallout 76. I think that's from the show. The vault from the show.
SPEAKER_03No, it is 20 something, right? 20. Your shirt says 33. 33. I just said 33. 76 is definitely the game. The game, that's the West Virginia game. Yeah, the West Virginia.
SPEAKER_04That's the again, all my vaults confuse folks.
SPEAKER_03That's a I mean, you know, yeah. Not easy, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so yeah, 33's from the show. Anyway, the show. So they're doing a season three, and your buddy Aaron Paul will join the cast. Oh and he's from Breaking Bad Most Family. And Price is right.
SPEAKER_03Really? There was a clip that served a few years ago. He was a contestant. Oh, right. Before he was famous. Look it up, folks. It's crazy. Wow.
SPEAKER_04Well. So he's joining. So there you go. I may have seen that.
SPEAKER_03Did you finish season two? No, remember I stopped so I could play Fallout New Vegas. So I could enjoy it more. And then I fail at life. No, I'm doing great at life. I'm failing at video games. Which is worse. It's basically mortal sin. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04But uh yeah. Alright, here's another one for you, man. Sega cancels an 882 million super game. What? Yeah, I guess they had a super game in the works and they can't eight hundred and eighty-two million like dollar? Yeah, dollars. Sorry, dollars. Sorry.
SPEAKER_03Who the fuck released it? Just make out some of it. Jesus.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so that what it is, we don't know.
SPEAKER_03Oh, like no.
SPEAKER_04But they did release a schedule of games they are releasing, and some of them are pretty cool. And then the one for me is the new Virtual Fighter Project is coming. Another Golden Axe. Crazy Taxi.
SPEAKER_03Really? They're playing through those games, but I might I might like to check that out. So hopefully that's good coming out near uh, you know, GTA. Yeah, right.
SPEAKER_04Well, these are all TBDs, so there's no even that cancelled and why.
SPEAKER_03How bad could it have been? That's insane, dude. That's a lot of money. But it's so much money. That's a GTA 6 kind of Yeah, almost a billion.
SPEAKER_04Jesus. So yeah. Oh, and uh, we talked about the steam controller last time.
SPEAKER_03I am uh I'm on the wait list.
SPEAKER_04Really? Yeah. I said I'd do it. Cool. Well, there's a hidden Easter egg. Do you want me to tell you? I know about the Wilhelm Scream. Yeah, the Wilhelm Scream if you drop it. That's pretty fucking cool. So if you drop the controller, it makes a screaming sound. Famous. Yeah, like the most I guess. I I don't know if I really heard it, but Yeah, you know it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03It's not the Star Wars scream. Okay. The uh Okay.
SPEAKER_04Matt's a screaming expert, if you know what I mean. I I yeah, I yeah, I kinda am. Now, let's go to the my Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 segment. KC D. Two. Yeah. KC D. So there's a couple things. Uh-oh. Three things.
SPEAKER_03Three things. It's hard as shit. Well, no, this is really hard. And don't choose somnambulance. Okay.
SPEAKER_04There you go. Now you remember that. Shit, I remember. Yeah. We should just do a single shit. Matt remembers. So one of the interesting little tidbits is there's a photo mode, like a lot of games have. And apparently it offered you a way to kind of cheat because you could because there's stealth in the game. And you could go into photo mode and you can peek around corners. Oh, yeah. And so to prevent that, after you're done, I think he's he says a line like, That was a nice picture in game. And then the guard's like, What? And then they they get so you can't cheat. I think I forget what the line is. I should have looked that up. So yeah, so they did that to make you so you know you don't cheat. Right. And then the other thing I thought it was two more. Shouldn't there be two more? Yeah, there's two more. Sorry. Two more things. Yeah, let me I gotta pull it up, sorry. But I don't know why I barked that one very funny. Or that type of mentality started barking. It's oh Matt's internet stinks as always. Just in this room.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Fantastic if you're wired. Okay. Oh yeah. We're downstairs.
SPEAKER_04And if you remember, they for a week straight they gave a dollar to help preserve the Perkstein castle. Yes, yes. Well, they raised sixty-five thousand dollars and three hundred and twenty-four dollars for that. Yeah. Then this is another little quick story, I'll try to keep it quick. So I guess PC Gamer, the mag I guess they're online magazine now. I guess they reviewed the game or wrote about the game, and this developer said they're the reason he added this feature to the game. And I guess at one point the reviewer lost their shoes, and they thought somebody stole their shoes off of them somehow in game. And so he was convinced, and in like his playthrough, I guess the video of it, he kept talking about that. Well, the developer said it was actually just a freak. This must have been an early playthrough before the game was released. And I guess the developer saw that and he just said it was a despawn. It the shoes just I guess glitched and despawned from his inventory. And so then he actually pushed for that feature in the game. So actually, if you fall asleep drunk, if you wake up, sometimes your hats or your shoes will go missing in game. So it was kind of a nice neat story about that game.
SPEAKER_03Wow. Okay. I like it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03That's how they will like real life. Pass out first and drunk.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, you might end up with no shoes. Yeah, so you have anything, Matt? Before I keep going?
SPEAKER_03I do, I do. Um so there's been some talk about, well, you know, remakes with Bethesda Bethesda games. You know, they've remade um Oblivion. Oblivion. And then I don't know, could they and there's been rumors about remaking uh some of the Fallout stuff, and uh whoa, could they remake New Vegas?
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Uh I saw this study. Yeah. So the uh one of the former Obsidian CCOs says uh basically, no, they can't do it. Right. Um, they don't have the engineering know-how, they don't have the source code. He's like, no chance they ain't gonna do it. Throwing a little bit of shade, but you know, I mean, there's always been kind of that little thing between uh obsidian and things. So yeah, that's kind of funny. Like, nah, ain't gonna happen. Right. Well, yeah. I mean you think about it because it wasn't their game, yeah, you know, and you know, obsidian ain't sure it shit ain't gonna do it without them doing it. They're not gonna be like, Yeah, oh yeah, well, we'll help you out, and you release it, and there's no way is gonna have Obsidian actually do it. So it's just ain't gonna it's not never gonna happen, basically. End of that story.
SPEAKER_04Man, well that's that. Yep. Alright. You uh Yeah, I got plenty more. Do you want to finish or you wanna keep going?
SPEAKER_03Uh what do you mean? Like you want to finish the segment?
SPEAKER_04I meant do you have any more segments?
SPEAKER_03Oh, I got one more little one, so you give give one or two, and I'll pop back in.
SPEAKER_04Alright, yeah, we'll keep it up. Keep it up. Alright. These are I'll just do two quick ones. Uh Lies of P sequel was in full production. So if you were a fan of I knew you were a fan of the game.
SPEAKER_03I was, oddly enough. It was very Dark Souls I in game. Yeah, yeah, that's true for you. Didn't beat it, but uh got very close. Typical fashion. I got stuck on the last mini boss. Oh yeah. Typical dark. I think I talk about this on this podcast, but it's it's it was the mini bosses that destroy me on the Souls Light game. It's because the boss bosses you can usually call in help. Okay, yeah. You know, yeah, you can't do that on like a mini boss or a pre-boss or whatever you call it. And the next the the like the very last mini boss, the before the final boss, was just kicking my ass. I'm like, I'm done. I I'm done. Yeah. And that that's and that's what kills me about the Souls Born type games, is like I don't know. I d there did there needs to be luckily that I I I persevered through that game and really enjoyed it, but had that exact scenario happened early in the game, I never would have played it, never would have enjoyed it, never would have liked it. Yeah. They need a they need to A little bit of an easy mode. I don't know. It needs a something. It needs a something. I understand if you're in easy mode, you might be tempted to leave the easier mode on, and that does might break the game, the experience, but does it really if you can't play it otherwise? I don't know. It's a whole discussion that I don't have answers for. Well, but um yes, anyways, I am excited for the sequel.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. And then another game that seems I didn't even know it was in the works. I guess there's leaked according to Gamer Rant Game Rant Leaked Worms game has serious XCOM vibes. So like a XCOM meets worms. But we always loved worms.
SPEAKER_03Worms, yeah, as long as it's still silly and fun and not like real XCOM, like hard as shit. Yeah, I don't know about that. But uh but that could be fun. But another worms is another worms is fun. Yeah, I always enjoy that.
SPEAKER_04That would have been a good one for that last set our boss battle. Yeah. Yeah, our little worms. Yeah, it was fun. So I thought you get it, you you like that because we we played worms. We play a lot of worms.
SPEAKER_03Did you eat the worm, man? Alright, I got then interject with my one. Alright, here's the match. Sad news for all of you. Um change up your bookmarks, make plans, do what you gotta do. But Ask Jeeves is officially shutting down. What? Yes. That's devastating. Yes. Uh apparently it's not actually called Ask Jeeves anymore. Somehow or in the mid-2000s, it got changed to just Ask.com. Oh, I think I remember that. Yeah, I kinda remember that too. But um, yeah, sad news. Um I obviously had no idea it was still around. Apparently we didn't ask him enough. Yeah, I haven't used it in at least 20 years. But uh that was uh uh, you know, before the Google. Ask Jeeves was a big one. He was. Yeah, I miss. I'm gonna miss you. Jeeves. Yeah, I know. Uh but they said believe it or not, uh, Chat GPT and the likes of other AI. Yeah. They just couldn't compete anymore. But could he turn to AI? Could become AI? I guess they didn't have fourteen billion dollars of capital to spend to make him slightly dumber, probably. Ooh, slam. That's actually it for all that's all the news I had.
SPEAKER_04Okay. I'll wait for that one to be last. Okay. Diablo 4 players are being kicked from co-op for playing this class, according to Game Ran again. So what class do you think they're being kicked? You have a guess? Ball wizard. The ball wizard. Actually, that's not too far. Wizard with lightning orbs, you know? Yeah. The warlock. Not a wizard. But that's close. Guess. Okay. Why why? And it's for a reason you probably don't expect. It's because they have a lot of I think they summon demons versus the necromancer summons p I guess pack bones and skeletons. And I guess they're they're like, but they're like in a lot of summoning. Even more so than I guess the necromancer. And it's it just beats up your the the screen. Oh, okay. Like all your like it's annoying to like look at it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, screen probably some uh network glitch and some pain and what have you.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, like visually it's just too much. Okay. So if you're gonna try to play warlock, you might get kicked out of your some co-co-op.
SPEAKER_03Oh we gotta still do that. We gotta do a co-op type.
SPEAKER_04I thought that. Uh let's see. Oh, a couple of Assassin Creed type news. Have you heard? This one is interesting. I guess they an image leaked of and it looks like a hex. What is it? A hex image.
SPEAKER_03Oh, Hexe!
SPEAKER_04Hexe, that's it. Yeah. So I don't know what that means.
SPEAKER_03Uh that's the code name for one of the up and coming games been up and coming for a while now. Yeah. But it looked to be kind of a so it supposed it supposedly took place during like in Salem. Oh okay. Um during that whole witch trial thing. Yeah. But it looked to be a a departure for the series, something a little different trial, maybe a little bit of horror or something. So I'll check that out.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it looks like and then this is for you, Matt. Real world assassins, creed, black flags, resync, treasure hunt. So I guess you can do a treasure hunt and get five hundred thousand dollars in co gold coins. Let's do it. The prize.
SPEAKER_03Fuck yeah.
SPEAKER_04So it's a real buried treasure in the Caribbean.
SPEAKER_03We're not like assassinating people. Yeah. Like the last person standing. Well, surely you could do that. I mean, hey, if it's sanctioned by Ubisoft, I'm sure it's legal, right? Yeah.
SPEAKER_04I'm sure they'll you know help you out with your legal fees.
SPEAKER_03Shit, I'll grab Scott or grab Frizz. We got it, man. We'll we'll stab some bitches. We're done.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Well, yeah, that's probably the easy way to do it. Let them find it and then kill them. There's so many movies about that.
SPEAKER_03I feel like, yeah, I'm ready.
SPEAKER_04You're good.
SPEAKER_03All right.
SPEAKER_04Find that treasure, man.
SPEAKER_03Uh, we do not connect. Or find the person who found the treasure or violence in any form outside of virtual uh on this podcast. Thank you.
SPEAKER_04Uh let's see. I got well, I'm gonna skip those. But I guess Dead Space producer doubts Dead Space 4 will ever be made. He said just the numbers aren't there.
SPEAKER_03So I'll file that under the no shit category.
SPEAKER_04He says, yeah, that format is dead and like first person.
SPEAKER_03Damn, man. I had no hope, but wait to just rub it into the ground. Yeah, he basically made it sound like it's not even there's no money in it. Was this Glenn Schofield? I I actually like the exited out ex-producer or the uh well respawn maybe.
SPEAKER_04You'll figure it out.
SPEAKER_03I love it when I like ask you a question like no moving on. We don't have time. Sorry for follow-up.
SPEAKER_04Well, we're trying to be quick. Okay. And then this is kind of fun news because we talked about this. So Steam is officially a new has an officially a new genre, and it's called uh let's bullet heaven. As opposed to bullet hell. And that's the name for Vampire Survivor Games now.
SPEAKER_03Oh, they finally named that. People have been fighting over what to call that forever. That um that's stupid. I don't like it at all. Really? Bullet Heaven? I guess Oh, I get it, because Bullet Hell, they're coming at you. Bullet hell, they're coming away from I mean, bull heaven, they're coming away from you.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Because they don't really shoot at you. Well, some guys do shoot at you, but maybe a little bit here and there.
SPEAKER_03What else are you gonna do? But I guess Steam's gonna call it fine. They gotta all agree upon it. We'll stick with it. I'm fine with it, whatever. Steam said it slowly. Lord Gabriel, whatever you have said we shall.
SPEAKER_04Um so no more vampire survivor games.
SPEAKER_03No. It's bullet head. Yes, I'm sure that and that decision alone will earn Gabe another super yut.
SPEAKER_04No, he needs another one. Yeah.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_04Uh well, maybe we'll cover this one because you you're into Crimson Desert. I guess Paul. I just like to mention Paul Tassey. Yeah, we'll just call it. We're on first name.
SPEAKER_03Fine, I knew exactly what you were talking about.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. So I guess he's saying they're refusing to patch. Oh, I should have looked at this.
SPEAKER_03Oh, the uh, you know, I I know. I know exactly what we're talking about. That's terrible. Not enough skill points. Uh, not enough skill points, especially if you want to use the secondary characters. Yeah, and that's what he's doing. So I'm not there yet, but I I definitely see that it's complaining there. Yeah, it it it is pretty weird. Like they have these secondary characters, but they don't share skill points. You have to give them extra skill points. There's already not enough to go around. And I I I just don't understand the whole thing with those secondary characters. It seems like they're so good at fixing everything. Yeah, that's what he's kind of. But it's like this whole I don't know, but I another reason why I'm glad I'm so far behind in the game, because I'm feeling like shit really needs worked out, and by the time I because I don't even have these characters yet, obviously. So Alright.
SPEAKER_04Well, that's the news.
SPEAKER_01Bada bada!
SPEAKER_04Let's see how close he got, everybody. Listen to the actual second.
SPEAKER_03Let's see if I'm on tune on fleek or on freak. You decide.
Future Quests
SPEAKER_03Alright.
SPEAKER_04Future quests.
SPEAKER_00Is there is there a feature or is the future dark and the slit? Uh yeah.
SPEAKER_04I mean the future looks like Mordor.
SPEAKER_03I think I I I um They win. I yeah, I don't even want to say because like last time I said like all I want to do was maybe play a little bit more of uh Crimson Desert, and I barely even fucking did that. Yeah, that was disappointing. Um at least you played it. No, but I do no, I alright. I will somehow or the other uh play vampire cards. Crawlers. Vampire crawlers. Cause we have to because we said we would for for a boss battle. I think we should do that. Um so I'm gonna try to. Well, we should have a good full three weeks now to the next episode we're gonna record.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So yeah, alright. That is my goal. Alright, you play that. I'm gonna play that. I bought it. I told you I already bought it.
SPEAKER_04I'm surprised you bought it. It's on Game Pass. Um, you're not doing Game Pass.
SPEAKER_02It's on Game Pass?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_04It's alright.
SPEAKER_03I don't I don't have Game Pass right now. And no, I I'm fully I'm fine. It's ten dollars. Yeah, I'm absolutely absolutely fine supporting them. So yeah, that's probably my thought. Um yeah, that's fine with that. Yeah, I I currently don't have a Game Pass. Um yeah, yeah. Yeah, I I will play that. Hopefully get a little bit of Crimson Desert, and that's all I'm gonna admit to, because that's all I can possibly play. Um Yeah, because people hold you to this.
SPEAKER_04Our fans are rabbit, beholden.
SPEAKER_03Um how about Sarah's? Did you play? Obviously.
SPEAKER_04No, I I I was like, alright, I'm gonna do this for the podcast, and then I was like, oh, it's a $70 game. Oh yes, it is. It's a full game. No, I haven't spent $70 on a game since like Borderlands 3, I think. Yeah. Uh that's my favorite Crimson Desert, yeah. Or four, Borderlands 4, sorry.
SPEAKER_03It was a bit of a shock, but I mean, seriously, what is $10 more?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I know. I shouldn't be so cheap. Yeah. But I'm cheap. So I that's why I went to Doom. I was like, well, I I should really finish that. And I'm glad I did, because I'm that works. And I'm gonna finish Doom. That's the next thing. And then I think after that, there's a couple cheaper games on my Steam list, and one of them popped out of nowhere, and I can't say much about it, but because I don't know much. But it's got a high rating. It's called Mortal Sin. So maybe that might be on my list.
SPEAKER_03You do need to commit some mortal sins.
SPEAKER_04That's it. Matt was saying earlier I should commit a mortal sin somewhere. And that's it. I agree. I agree. Oh boy, Matt. Alright, that's it, I guess. I don't know. Um maybe I'll play Mortal Sin. Probably not.
SPEAKER_03Yep, yep, yep or maybe Saras.
SPEAKER_04Maybe I'll just feel like spending money.
SPEAKER_03Alright, well mystery. It's a mystery. Hopefully it's not a uh a tragedy. But uh only time will tell. So join us next time. And thank you for joining us on this week's episode of Almost Gamers. I have been your host, Matthew Ferrick, Farm D.
SPEAKER_04Wow Title.
SPEAKER_03And I'm joined by Andrew Wilde. I didn't say it was nice. He's master of illusions. And remember, support your local channel and us. And if you do, we will send you a free tote bag.
SPEAKER_04I was gonna say tote bag. That was weird. I really thought tote bag.
SPEAKER_03I mean, that's how public broadcasting survived them goddamn tote bags.
