Ever felt like you came out “late” or struggled to say the words I’m gay out loud for the first time? On this week’s BabyGay™ Podcast, host PJ Brescia (they/them) sits down with VJ Rosales (he/him)—singer, vocal coach on The Masked Singer, and member of the internationally celebrated a cappella group The Filharmonic. From performing in Pitch Perfect 2 to touring the world and appearing on The Late Late Show with James Corden, VJ has built an incredible career through music.

But behind the spotlight is a deeply personal coming out story. VJ Rosales shares what it was like growing up in a Filipino household in Southern California, navigating cultural expectations, and losing his mother before she could fully know his authentic self. PJ and VJ also talk about the fear of saying “I’m gay” for the first time, why there’s no universal timeline for coming out, and the freedom that comes with living authentically as part of the LGBTQ+ community.
