On this week’s BabyGay™ Podcast, host PJ Brescia (they/them) sits down with Shea Diamond (she/her) — recording artist, actress, and storyteller whose life story is a powerful testament to resilience, survival, and self-expression.
Shea shares her extraordinary journey from spending ten years incarcerated in a male prison to becoming an internationally recognized artist and voice for the LGBTQ+ community. What began as a goodbye letter written behind bars would later become her breakthrough song “I Am Her,” transforming pain into purpose and inspiring people around the world.
We talk about resilience, identity, and what it means to keep believing in yourself — even when the odds feel stacked against you. This episode is a reminder that your past does not define your future, and that strength, courage, and authenticity can change the course of your life.
Shea continues to uplift audiences through her music, including her recent singles “Hold Out” and “Dance Floor” and has appeared in productions such as the FX series Pose, while using her platform to amplify LGBTQ+ voices and inspire others to live unapologetically.
