The Morning Brew with Chris Bennett
Alone at Last: Chicken Wings, Couch, and Cleaning Lies
What really happens when husbands are left to their own devices? The Morning Brew uncovers the truth in this hilarious episode featuring Paul from Beaumont, who spent a week home alone while his wife Rhonda was away visiting friends. With nothing but "chicken wings and couch" to keep him company, Paul proudly claimed to have cleaned the house before her return—a claim that quickly unraveled during our on-air conversation.
Through our entertaining "DIY or Don't Try" game, we discovered that Paul's definition of "cleaning" was limited to vacuuming and mopping, with toilet scrubbing, laundry folding, and even making the bed firmly in the "don't try" category. Just when Paul thought he'd convinced us of his domestic prowess, we called Rhonda for the real story. Her revelation that she'd secretly arranged for a cleaning service during her absence had everyone in stitches. "He just cleans the surface," Rhonda explained, offering insight into the different cleaning standards that often exist between partners.
The episode wasn't all about Paul's housekeeping deception. We celebrated National Hydration Day with drink trivia, heard about Jineane's exciting weekend at X Diamond Ranch where she connected with Wink Kregler (soon to be inducted into the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame), and selected our motivational quote of the week from Bryant McGill: "Your calm mind is the ultimate weapon against your challenges." From the Horn Auto Center Studios Chris Bennett and the Morning Brew. Yee-yee, yee-yee. It's everyone's favorite redneck from Beaumont Texas. It's Paul from Beaumont, buddy. How was your weekend? I understand you were home alone all last week. No, rhonda, no Rhonda all last week. Chicken wings and couch. Chicken wings and couch. Did you clean up after yourself? Was the house a mess? Did you have to do some final emergency cleaning before Rhonda came home?
Speaker 2:Well, it wasn't really a mess because, like I said, it was just chicken wings and the couch. It was fairly a mess because, like I said, it was just chicken wings and the couch. But yeah, I vacuumed up a little bit because I let the dog out all week.
Speaker 1:The big dog, oh, the big dog.
Speaker 2:And then did you have your little shih tzu with you, your Gilbert. Yeah, Gilbert was there. Yeah, she got him up. We're going next week for my birthday. She got him a sombrero.
Speaker 1:Like a little sombrero. He got a little sombrero for his dog. I love it. What did Rhonda do when she went out of town? Did she go see a live show like the Thunder from Down Under?
Speaker 2:No, she just went to go visit a friend.
Speaker 1:Oh, that's good, that's sweet. We are back with Paul from Beaumont, who was home alone all last week and, like a good husband, cleaned the house before his wife got back. Did you take the trash out? Yeah, dude.
Speaker 2:Yeah, when she's home. I got to bring trash every day the whole week. I had half a bag of trash the whole week and that was including the pizza box.
Speaker 1:Well, I thought we'd play a fun game today, paul, since you did clean up the house. We'll do DIY or don't try. We're going to find out what you are willing to clean before Rhonda gets back home and what you're not willing to clean. Are you ready? Yeah, all right. Vacuuming the living room? Yeah, I did that. There we go. He did that DIY. What about scrubbing the toilet?
Speaker 2:DIY or don't try. No, no, I ain't doing that.
Speaker 1:No, no, you did not clean the toilets, you just get a little toilet wand.
Speaker 2:No, she gets some funky ones, man, where you got to like change the end out and stuff.
Speaker 1:I don't do all that. All right, how about organizing the pantry?
Speaker 2:No, I didn't do that. No, folding the laundry. No, didn't do that, washing the windows. I didn't do the front door because the dogs groomed on it.
Speaker 1:Oh, nice, nice, nice, wipe down the baseboards. Yeah, no, I didn't do that Clean the shower.
Speaker 2:No, I didn't do that. Make the bed, uh, no, not really what.
Speaker 1:Paul, what did you do? You just vacuumed and you think that's cleaning.
Speaker 2:And I mopped.
Speaker 1:Oh, annie, mopped, there we go. That was DIY or Don't Try with Paul from Beaumont. It is now time for. Are you Smarter Than a Redneck On this National Hydration Day, paul? I thought we would do some drink trivia. You ready? Ooh, yeah, yeah, you're hot out there.
Speaker 2:You got a high drink.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, hey, before we actually do this, it is Motivational Monday. Go ahead and give us a redneck motivational quote today.
Speaker 2:Okay. Well, I would have to say if you wake up with a hangover, just pop another beer.
Speaker 1:You'll be fine. No, do not listen to him. Do not listen to him. That was Paul from Beaumont's motivational quote. Okay, paul, it's time for Hydration Day Trivia. This drink is made from fermented tea and packed with probiotics. What is it? Is it A iced tea, b kombucha, or C orange juice, b, b, what is it? What's it called? What do you say brambucha?
Speaker 2:Kombucha. It is All right, you're up. I knew the answer. I just wanted to hear you say it. Yeah, you thought it was a part of it. It can't sound American.
Speaker 1:All right. This tropical drink comes from coconuts and is called Nature's Sports Drink. What is it? Is it coconut water, b piña colada or C almond milk? Chris, I'm going to say coconut water, ding, ding, ding. We are tied at one apiece.
Speaker 2:I was going to say pina colada.
Speaker 1:Pina colada. Pick a number from three to five. Six for a six-pack that's not an option, so we'll go with five. This clear, calorie-free drink is essential for life. What is it, paul?
Speaker 2:Paul, high-quality H2O water. That's is essential for life. What is it, paul, paul, paul, high-quality.
Speaker 1:H2O water. That's right, water. Boy, paul from Beaumont, you are smarter than a very handsome radio DJ. Best friend, thanks for having fun with us today and drive safe out there, you too my friend, y'all have a great day, you too.
Speaker 1:Yee-yee, All right. We talked to Paul today. He was home alone all last week and he was bragging to us about how he cleaned the house nice and clean for Rhonda's return. Well, on the phone we have Rhonda for a report card on Paul. How did he do staying home alone and did he clean the house?
Speaker 4:Well, he did okay, since we had somebody come and clean the house on Tuesday while I was gone oh, while I had the money. Yeah, interesting yeah. So he didn't have to do much. But I heard through the grapevine that he was not cleaning around the dog's kennel, so yeah, who?
Speaker 1:ratted him out.
Speaker 4:I can't say I have my sources.
Speaker 1:So that's crazy. He had a maid come in while you were gone to clean the house and then he tried to pass it off that he cleaned the house and was amazing.
Speaker 4:Well, I actually did that because I knew I was going to be gone, so I had the lady come and clean.
Speaker 1:Oh, so you didn't come home to a mess.
Speaker 4:Right.
Speaker 1:All right, did you get any?
Speaker 4:other. He did better than he usually does. You know I'm cleaning today, but you know I like to deep clean. He just cleans the surface, if you know what I mean so he didn't clean around the dog kennel?
Speaker 1:Did you get any reports from your sources about any other weird or suspicious or funny behavior while you were gone?
Speaker 4:No, that, he was just lazy, well, awesome.
Speaker 1:Did you have a good vacation?
Speaker 4:Yes, I did. It was very relaxing. We did a lot of outdoor stuff, you know, so it was nice.
Speaker 1:Sweet Well, awesome. Well, rhonda thanks for for the report. It's good to get to the bottom of it and find out the truth. We appreciate it okay, bye.
Speaker 3:Bye, janine you over there. Yes, I am. Good morning, chris, good Monday morning good Monday morning.
Speaker 1:How was?
Speaker 3:your weekend wonderful, wonderful, really great weekend. Yeah, saturday was out at the safety fair. That was super cool. I'm doing all the little you know lives from there. I did my Facebook lives and we put them on the radio and that was fun. And you know, timber Mesa, all all of our first responders, all the you know great, great, great people were at the safety fair helping us to be safe. It was really cool, Awesome.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I was at Horn Auto Center with Tales of Love Dog Rescue and they were able to find three dogs new homes and also one cat. They found a new home and they also got a volunteer to be a foster pet parent.
Speaker 3:Oh, so cool.
Speaker 1:That was cool. And then did you do anything after the safety fair this weekend? You're always doing adventures.
Speaker 3:Yes, and I got to tell you this was incredible because we went to X Diamond Ranch this weekend to visit one of my favorite people, wink Kregler. Kregler out there, and here's the thing about the X Diamond Ranch and Wink and everyone who knows the history of the X Diamond Ranch. Wink Kregler is the granddaughter of Molly Butler. Okay, rich, rich, ranching history. She's written so many incredible books. She is such an incredible cowgirl. I mean, she's unbelievable Still running like 400 plus almost 500 head at Mama Cow's and she's running the ranch. She's so cool. Well, guess what? She's getting inducted into the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame in Fort Worth, texas, in November. So proud of her. That is amazing, I know. So it's a big story, really cool, and we are going to be following that. I'm going to have her come in and do my ITalk show. That'll be really super cool.
Speaker 1:Nice Well, congratulations. That's great, janine. You know I stick my head in the sand when it comes to news and don't really know what's going on, but I think, when we come back, I think it's time for you to give me some breaking news. Let me know what's happening in the world.
Speaker 3:What do you think? Okay, all right, sounds good, I'll try my best.
Speaker 1:All right, All right, Janine. What's going on in the world? What news does Chris need to know about?
Speaker 3:Well, there's a lot going on in the world. Of course, all the talk right now is what has happened in, of course, israel and Iran and what they've been going through, but, of course, the big bunker busting bombs that President Trump went in. It was very strategic. I'll tell you what our military US military, iran has killed more American citizens than any country in the last 15 years and the death to America has been going on for so long under the Ayatollah, and so this was like 15 years in the planning and making All right, and so they dropped those bombs and it was very strategic. Like a surgeon, they did such I mean no, no aircraft got in the air, they didn't have to fight anybody, they just took those installations out. So it was really, in my estimation, an incredible strategic move, very cool. So that was the big thing over the weekend that we actually broke up their nuclear possibilities. So that's, and all the research that's coming in says that it really really was successful, all right, so that's a big one.
Speaker 1:There we go. Well, that was news with Janine. Thank you, best friend. How about we now get motivated with? It Sounds good. I'll read you some motivational quotes and you pick what our motivational quote of the week will be Are you ready.
Speaker 1:I am ready. I'm nervous because you do not mince words if I pick a lame motivational quote, so I tried real hard today to pick some good ones. All right, here we go. This is from Anonymous. Happy Monday. Whatever you do today, do it to the best of your abilities. You can do this, okay.
Speaker 3:All right.
Speaker 1:Okay, all right. Okay, gosh, dang it. Chris, right out of the gate. All right, you know me, your calm mind is the ultimate weapon against your challenges. So relax, bryant McGill Good Bad, I like that one. Okay, all right.
Speaker 3:Calm and in control.
Speaker 1:There we go. Henry Ford said remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it.
Speaker 3:Hmm, I like that too, yes, oh good, oh good.
Speaker 1:Finally I'm redeeming myself. All right. Maya Angelou says try to be a rainbow in someone else's cloud.
Speaker 3:Oh yeah, these are good ones. Oh heck, yeah, Chris.
Speaker 1:All right. And Willie Nelson said once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you'll start having positive results. Yep there you go. So four for five, not or how many one, two, three, five for six, not too bad. What is today's motivational quote of the week?
Speaker 3:Let's go with number two Number two.
Speaker 1:Yes, bryant McGill, your calm mind is the ultimate weapon against your challenges.
Speaker 3:Yes, I like the calm, so relaxed, because the more do you know what, this is the coolest thing and somebody has talked about this, about keeping calm, losing control. It kind of goes back to the Zen kind of the place in your head. You know so many people. The self-control is where all your power is at. And so when you're calm and you're collected, when you totally lose control, you lose all your power, your internal power and all that good stuff.
Speaker 1:So stay calm, relax.
Speaker 3:Stay calm, relax.
Speaker 1:Awesome. Well, janine. Thank you so much, best friend. We hope you have a great rest of your day and we'll talk to you soon, you too. Bye-bye.
Speaker 3:Thank you, Chris Bye-.
