Ever wonder what really goes on at a small-town morning radio show?
The Morning Brew with Chris Bennett and Best Friends is your daily dose of real callers, big laughs, and unforgettable characters straight from QCountry 925 in Show Low, Arizona.
The Morning Brew with Chris Bennett
Pumpkin Spice & Community Pride: First Day of Fall on The Brew
We begin today with a heartfelt check-in from Jineane Ford of Majik 101.7 & iTalk 106.7. Jineane recaps the memorial service for Charlie Kirk held Sunday at State Farm Stadium and shares details on how the White Mountain community can honor our fallen Timber Mesa firefighters this Friday and Saturday, including the full procession route for those wishing to pay their respects.
From there, we brighten the morning with Monday Motivation, featuring Marianne Williamson’s inspiring reminder: “In every community, there is work to be done. In every nation, there are wounds to heal. In every heart, there is the power to do it.”
Sports fans get a quick High School Football Minute, celebrating wins by the Snowflake Lobos, Show Low Cougars, Blue Ridge Yellow Jackets, and St. Johns Redskins.
Then it’s all fun with Boo or Cool: Fall Edition, where Show Low’s Dave Ramsey weighs in on candy corn, pumpkin spice, and first-day-of-fall traditions. We even field a surprise “call” from a lonely bull elk searching for love—and wrap up with a playful fall PSA: it’s officially hoodie season, so stock the pumpkin spice and cue the Hallmark Christmas movies!
This episode blends heartfelt community moments with the humor and cozy vibes that make The Morning Brew your perfect start to autumn.

Speaker 2:Yes, I am. How are you Chris?
Speaker 1:I'm doing good on this Monday morning, and how about you?
Speaker 2:Wow, what a weekend. Oh my gosh. And I'm really thankful for the rain we've been getting. Oh my gosh.
Speaker 2:And it looks like we've got some more possibilities coming our way. But what a weekend. I mean the Cardinals just by one, oh my God, that game yesterday. And then, of course, the incredible tribute to Charlie Kirk Unbelievable listening to all the speakers and I mean you know what's wild. It was very, very uplifting and positive. That was the overall and encouraging everyone to be peaceful and unity and all the great things we could hope for. Even I'm just going to say this because I'm just even our dear president trump was pretty well behaved, you know oh, there you go he sometimes can launch off, but he was very good, you know.
Speaker 2:And then um he him getting kind of back with elon musk. There it was really, it was just all of it was really good. And Erica Kirk, wow, she is just wow. Yeah, she says she forgives the shooter.
Speaker 3:Oh wow, yes, oh my.
Speaker 2:God, yes, she does Wow Because she says that's what Charlie would do, right, and the biggest overriding thing is it was all about also encouraging people's faith. I thought Marco Rubio's speech was just incredible and about not having fear. Charlie wasn't afraid to. You know, a lot of people are very afraid to show there, but, oh my gosh, almost 200,000 people there yesterday. Wow, they were everywhere.
Speaker 1:Just crazy.
Speaker 2:Yes, it was incredible.
Speaker 1:Oh, wow. Well, thank you so much for the recap, Janine. Also, I want to remind people we need to show support for our two heroes in Lying the. Streets this Friday and Saturday, starting at 9.30 am. The parade route I shared it on the Q Country page. I'll share it on the Magic 1017 Facebook page as well. But let's see.
Speaker 1:Yeah, we want to line the streets for our two heroes, that's right, yeah, it's going to be going down the Deuce, past the Ace Harder, the Safeway and then the 260, and then down to Old Linden Road and then over to the high schools.
Speaker 2:Yes, yeah got to do that. Yes, there's just so much in the atmosphere Lots of prayers for our firefighting heroes and their families. Oh my gosh.
Speaker 1:Absolutely, it's so young. So young.
Speaker 2:Yes.
Speaker 1:Well, janine, I love you. I just feel, like everyone, we need to tell each other we love each other.
Speaker 2:And we all need to hug. There was no burning of cities or looting or anything with all of this. We're all in peace and we all need to join hands and love each other, that's for sure.
Speaker 1:All right, janine, it's time to get motivated on this Monday morning. You ready? Yes, I am All right. This one's from Helen Keller. She said what we once enjoyed and deeply loved, we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us. That's our first one. This is from Anonymous. Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is just keep going when you want to give up. So true. Marianne Williamson said In every community there is work to be done. In every nation there are wounds to heal. In every heart there is the power to do it.
Speaker 3:Oh, that's a good one.
Speaker 1:Let's see. Hal Borland said no winter lasts forever. No spring skips its turn. There we go. That was hard for me to get out. Let me try it again. No winter lasts forever. No spring skips its turn. There we go. Hardest one to say for sure. And Mother Teresa said do small things with great love. What is our motivational?
Speaker 2:quote of the week. You had good ones, but I like number three.
Speaker 1:Number three oh, marianne Williamson. In every community there is work to be done. In every nation there are wounds to heal. In every heart there is the power to do it.
Speaker 3:Yes, Heck, yes.
Speaker 1:Those were our motivational quotes for the week. Janine, we love you. Best friend, have a great day and we'll talk to you tomorrow love you too, chris.
Speaker 3:Okay, bye it's the sports minute with chris bennett football, basketball baseball I'm manly, and now chris bennett.
Speaker 1:let's start with some sports action here on the mountain with our high school football teams. Our italk 1067 game of the week was snowflflake at home against Catalina Foothills. They took care of business 45-13, and the Lobos are 4-0 to start the season. The Show Low Cougars baby traveled to Monument Valley and shut them out 41-0, took care of business. They're 4-1 to start the season. Heck yeah, keep it going.
Speaker 1:Blue Ridge Yellow Jackets and the Round Valley Elks had a big rivalry game and it was Blue Ridge's homecoming game, and Round Valley came in undefeated, 4-0. Blue Ridge was 2-2. And Blue Ridge beat Round Valley at Blue Ridge's homecoming game 25-21 in a good, good matchup. And St John's traveled to Pima and they beat them 16-12. And our Mogollon Mustangs traveled to Meyer and took care of business 59-6. Our D-backs are still in the wildcard hunt, only one game out and they'll be back at action tomorrow at 6.40 pm. Our Phoenix Mercury advanced to the next round of the WNBA playoffs and they had game one yesterday against the Minnesota Lynx in a best-of-five series and the Lynx got the best of us in game one, 82-69,. But we'll get a chance to totally redeem ourselves tomorrow at 4.30. The Arizona Cardinals. You heard Janine talk about it earlier. Yes, they lost a heartbreaker Lost by one point 16-15 to the 49ers. They'll be back at it this Thursday against the Seattle Seahawks. Let's see how they do.
Speaker 1:I'm Chris Bennett and that was my Sports Minute. On the phone, we have our best friend from Show Low, dave Ramsey, for Boo or Cool. It's the first day of fall, dave Fall. Boo or cool, boo. Oh, really, what's your favorite season?
Speaker 3:Fall means winter's coming, which is totally boo.
Speaker 1:Are any of the seasons cool or are they all boo? Summer, summer, yes, oh yeah, I love summer. That's probably my favorite, but I love them all. I thought we would do. I'll read you some common fall items and you tell me if it's boo or cool. You ready, I'm ready, all right, candy corn Boo. You do not like candy corn?
Speaker 3:Oh boo no.
Speaker 1:Dude, I love putting them in my teeth and pretending I have fangs. Do you do that?
Speaker 3:No, I put them in a rubber band and use them as ammunitions.
Speaker 1:Oh, goodness gracious. What about bonfires? That's cool. Okay, corn mazes, cool, yeah. Yeah, it's a fun thing to do with the family. What about pumpkin spice lattes? That's cool, okay, corn mazes, cool, yeah. Yeah, it's a fun thing to do with the family. What about pumpkin spice lattes? Boo, we know that. Raking giant piles of leaves and jumping in them.
Speaker 3:The only thing I got is pine needles.
Speaker 1:Totally booed, totally booed. Yeah, don't jump into a pile of pine needles. What about cozy blankets? Cool Haunted blankets, cool Haunted houses, cool Scented candles. Boo Boo, oh, totally boo. And what about frosty mornings?
Speaker 3:That's totally boo, totally boo.
Speaker 1:Dave, I have an idea for one more boo or cool? Today is Proposal Day. I want to give you some proposals and you tell me if they're boo or cool. Sound good, sounds good. I've compiled some interesting proposals that have happened, wedding proposals, and, dave, you're going to tell me boo or cool? How did you propose to your wife?
Speaker 3:We just walked into the dang Justice of the Peace and got married.
Speaker 1:But you never asked her, you never proposed to her, or you just no, we just took a ride and I just told her I got someplace, we gotta go. And what did she say when you got there?
Speaker 3:She said cool.
Speaker 1:All right, here's some other proposals that have happened I found online. Someone hid the ring in a box of chicken nuggets, popping the question mid-bite at a McDonald's Boo or cool Boo. What about proposing while both skydiving?
Speaker 3:Skydiving's cool.
Speaker 1:Dude, I'd be afraid I'd drop the ring.
Speaker 3:No, you just latch on and stick it on her finger.
Speaker 1:There you go. What about having a sky rider spell it out during an air show? Will you marry me? That's cool. What about dropping to one knee? Cool, Cool. Yeah, that's the old, traditional way. How about asking on a roller coaster? Boo Boo really, but you'll skydiving. It's okay to propose, but not on a roller coaster. Why?
Speaker 3:No, you'll leave chunks.
Speaker 1:But not while you're skydiving. How about on a hot air balloon ride at sunrise? That sounds romantic. Oh cool, totally cool, awesome. Dave, thanks for having some boo or cool fun with us today, on the first day of fall and on Proposal Day. I hope you have a great rest of your day. We'll talk to you soon.
Speaker 3:Yeah, you have a good day too. Hi, I'm a bull elk and I just want to apologize if I've been keeping you up or waking you up early with my elk calls. But I'm looking for a lady, and if you don't want me to call out the ladies, then find me one. I am missing half a rack me one. I am missing half a rack, which does not make me as desirable to some of the lady elk, but if you happen to know a lady elk looking for a fun elk just having a good time, who might not have a full rack but he is still just a really good guy, send him my way and that way I'll stop waking you up with my elk calls trying to get the ladies. Wait, what Was that? A lady? Hey, lady, oh, she just wants to be friends. Dang it, bill, leave some ladies for me.
Speaker 1:Gentlemen, it's officially the first day of fall. Consider this your friendly PSA. Make sure that the pumpkin spice stash is stocked and ready. Guard your hoodies they're like power tools because someone will borrow them and never give them back. I'm looking at you, wife. And don't forget to hand out jackets before anyone leaves the house. Yes, I know you're not chilly now, but you will be chilly later. And oh, brace yourself. Hallmark movies are loading as we speak. You've been warned. Happy first day of fall.
