The Morning Brew with Chris Bennett
Made in Arizona: Music Premieres, Relationship Truths & Local Heroes
Today’s show hit every note—heartfelt, hilarious, and homegrown.
We start with a moment of remembrance for Timber Mesa Firefighter Glenn Collins, honoring his service and sharing details on the upcoming vigil and procession so the community can line the streets in support. As Tropical Storm Priscilla moves in, we break down what you need to know to stay safe through the rain and flash-flood risks.
Then it’s a hard pivot into real talk: relationship advice for a jealous boyfriend who can’t quite handle his girlfriend’s friend circle. The verdict? Don’t edit someone else’s life—set boundaries, stay grounded, and protect your peace.
From there, the vibe lifts with the world premiere of “Made in Arizona” by country artist Noah Silver, calling in from Nashville to debut his brand-new single exclusively on QCountry 92.5! We chat about his Arizona roots, life in Tennessee, and play a fun round of “This or That: Arizona Edition.”
As if that weren’t enough, Kirk Nurmi calls in to stir the pot with Paul from Beaumont, who jumps in to defend himself—leading to a side-splitting round of “Are You Smarter Than a Redneck?” (Spoiler: maybe not.)
We close with a beautiful conversation with Melinda from Compassus and Rusty from Fishers of Men about the upcoming “Honoring Our Heroes” Veterans Day Celebration—Saturday, November 8th, 11AM at the Show Low Elks Lodge. Expect pinning ceremonies, free meals for veterans and families, service resources, and the kind of community spirit that makes the White Mountains proud.
🎵 Music, laughter, love, and gratitude—it’s all here in one episode.
🎧 Hit play, follow the show, and share it with someone who loves Arizona as much as we do.
From the Horn Auto Center Studios for Chris Bennett and the morning brew. Janine, you there? Oh, of course I am. Just waiting with Bated Breath for Chris to call me. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:I don't even know what Bated Breath was. I didn't do good on my uh SATs. There you go. But uh uh so uh hey, uh what anything new going on? Anything juicy over there on uh Magic 101?
SPEAKER_01:Well, nothing uh you know, we've got we've got big things coming up. Of course, we have another firefighter that's been lost, and uh and his funeral arrangements uh have been all set. It's what for this Sunday?
SPEAKER_03:Uh actually, let's see. Um so I'm looking at the Timber Mesa Fire Medical District page and uh the arrangements for Glenn Collins. They're gonna have a public vigil Saturday, October 11th from 4 to 6 at Owens Livingston Mortuary in Sholow. And then they're gonna have a uh public memorial service on Sunday at 12 p.m. at Sholow High School Auditorium. And so both the vigil and service are open to the public, and they invite our community to come join us in honoring Glenn's life and service. And uh a procession will begin at 11 45 leading to the service on Sunday, and um they'll be uh they'll be going uh uh the route they went uh unfortunately a couple weeks ago.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, exactly. So I'm so glad everybody uh come out and show uh you know their support for all of our first responders. It's just such a hard time for everybody in the White Mountains. And the thing that's going to make a lot of this a little bit um, I don't know, uh just we've got that Priscilla moving in too. Yeah. That tropical storm. And uh so we're gonna have some pretty heavy rains or we're on a flash flood, you know, you know, advisory or watch or whatever, you know, for the next, you know, three days. Like even through Monday, they're showing rain and stuff. So we're gonna have a lot more rain, possible flooding. So please get be prepared for that as well.
SPEAKER_03:All right. Well Janine, we've gotten the uh the serious stuff out of the way. You want to have a little fun this morning?
SPEAKER_01:Yes, yes, we need that.
SPEAKER_03:It is now time for relationship advice. Yes, with our expert relationship advice expert, Janine Ford. I've been there, done that, Chris. There we go. All right, I'll read the story and we'll come back. We'll get some advice for this uh young man. He's 28. Here we go. I've been dating my girlfriend for about three months. Uh, we met when she was finishing school, and things were great until I started to realize most of her close friends are guys. Oh, dude. And a lot of them either had a crush on her or they hooked up in the past. One friend she met for lunch used to be a fling. Another she's traveling she's traveling with us and wants confessed feelings for her. Even two of her college buddies, the ones she used to gossip about, are flying out to visit her this week. She keeps reassuring me it's all innocent, but I can't help feeling uncomfortable and jealous. I don't want to be the controlling boyfriend, but is it weird that all her guy friends are ex-crushes and hookups? Or am I just being insecure?
SPEAKER_01:Well, first of all, it's only been three months, okay? And I like to meet people where they are and get to know who they are. He needs to kind of check his feelings a little bit, back up a little bit, maybe date her for a little bit and then reassess and feel and just don't get too close to this girl at first. Just watch her, but you don't want to say, I'm not going to see you because you've got all these friends, right? I don't like changing people. Right. You you want to really know who she is. And if you're watching this and then you'll say, then he'll break it off with her and say, you know, I just don't feel comfortable with. And maybe he doesn't even have to say that. He just said, Oh, we're gonna go our own ways. He needs to kind of slow this role down a little bit.
SPEAKER_03:Right.
SPEAKER_01:And his own feelings and watch and date it and have date her and have fun. It's only been three months. Have fun with it, right? Yeah. And if she's a girl, a fun girl, just a f a lot of fun guys, maybe he's just gonna have a little fun and then he'll move on. But just keep it in the back of his mind or at the front of his mind and know that, you know, or he could just kind of slide out of it and break it off and put his running shoes on and and go now. You know what I mean? Right.
SPEAKER_03:Well, how long should he wait? You say three months hasn't been very long.
SPEAKER_01:But he's seeing a red flag that concerns him already. Okay. And I uh my thing is I never put uh conditions and changes on other people. I just like to see who they really are because they're gonna revert to that anyway, right? Right. So you want to he's seen a red flag. He just needs to back up a little bit himself. If he wants to see her for some fun for a little bit and and date her, that's fine. But maybe he starts to think he needs to c put uh protect himself. You know what I'm saying? Because she does have she's showing some things that maybe she's gonna have a lot of guys in her life all the time. I don't know. You know what I mean? And if he doesn't feel comfortable with that, he needs to find somebody that doesn't have a ton of guys in in her life, you know.
SPEAKER_03:Oh well, that's why you're the relationship.
SPEAKER_01:And then you put but but but he's taking it a little seriously right now with three months. He just needs to kind of, you know, check his own feelings, which he's doing. He's doing that right now. But don't put anything on her. Just leave her and move on. There's a lot, there's great peel as we've always said this, there's a million great people out there. You don't have to, you know. But if he tries to change her and says, Oh, I can't deal with this, get rid of these guys, that's not gonna work either. You know what I mean? It's gonna make him look bad. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:So get those new balances out.
SPEAKER_01:New balances and run, baby, run. I know that's mostly my advice. That's not good, but yeah. There's there's a lot of great people out there. Just move on, baby. Run, baby, run. Run, baby, run.
SPEAKER_03:Janine, you're the best. Thanks for having fun with us, best friend, and uh, we'll talk to you tomorrow.
SPEAKER_01:Okay, have a great day, Chris. All right, bye bye.
SPEAKER_03:Good morning. It's the morning brew with Chris. Who's this? Hey, Chris, this is Noah Silver. Heck yeah, Noah Silver. You all might remember him. He is one of our past Country Climb stars of the week, originally from Arizona, living in Nashville, releasing new music on the regular. And I always told them that uh you now have a home in Arizona on Arizona Radio, so you always call and let us know uh when you have some new uh news coming out. And I understand uh you have an exciting thing happening tonight at nine.
SPEAKER_06:I sure do. Thank you so much for having me, Chris. Good to be back. Um tonight at nine, my brand new song, Made in Arizona, comes out. It's all about my beautiful our beautiful state of Arizona and why we love it so much and why we love to call it home.
SPEAKER_03:Heck yeah, it uh I saw you uh I've seen little clips of it. I haven't heard the whole song yet, but on your social media I've seen little clips, and you said it's uh basically a love letter to uh your home state. What's what's your favorite thing about Arizona?
SPEAKER_06:Oh gosh. Um the the desert landscape in just kind of like the Phoenix, Sedona, Scottsdale, that whole area is just unmatched. I mean, every time I'm back home, I always take a day to just drive up to Sedona and hang out in like um the red rocks and take a hike and maybe go mountain biking. Um, I just love it out there, and every time every time I chase that Arizona air for the first time when I get off the plane, I just go right back home.
SPEAKER_03:That's awesome. Noah, I know this song doesn't come out until tonight. Everyone out there in Q Country Nation, go ahead and uh pre-order this song, pre-save this song today and listen to it starting at nine. There's no way we'd be allowed to maybe premiere it for the first time on Q Country 92.5 this morning, huh?
SPEAKER_06:I mean, if we're gonna do a pre-release anyway, we should probably be on Country Radio in Arizona, huh?
SPEAKER_03:Heck yeah, I think so. Dude, it is an honor to play our country music best friends, Noah Silver's new song that comes out tonight at 9 a.m. made in Arizona, right here on Q Country 925.
SPEAKER_02:Used to run and try to survive the scorching suns, fighting for the land for people like me. Don't go stories and campfire songs, those who keep on closing our ear view. I'm a crow crying under desert stars. I got a CN pulling in my heart like a somebody keep rolling on and on. I got a snake that I'm running through my veins, ain't never felt a drop of rain. Like a tried up river or a canyon in S donor. I was made in Arizona. I've been traveling these roads far from home, from Virginia Beach down to Santa. Everywhere I go, she calls me back. Cause the sea lights don't shine as bright as a midnight moon in an empty sky. But it's all right, because no matter where I'm at. I'm a child, crying under desert stars. I got a sea rain blowing in my heart like a ton. Keep rolling on and on. I got a sleep running through my face. Like a drop for Kenny is a donor. I got a serien flowing in my heart like a tumble. I'm rolling on and on. I got a snake that I'm running through my veins. Ain't never felt a drop of rain like a dry-up river for canyon in Sedona.
SPEAKER_03:It's made in Arizona. Amazing song, Noah. Uh, how does it feel uh to to hear that song on Arizona Radio?
SPEAKER_06:It feels like home, Chris. It feels it feels right. Um yeah, I'm so I'm so excited about this song. I'm so excited that you guys played it. Thank you.
SPEAKER_03:You're welcome. Before I let you go, can we play a quick little this or that Arizona edition in honor of your song made in Arizona in this or that Thursday?
SPEAKER_06:Absolutely.
SPEAKER_03:All right, Mill Avenue in Tempe or Old Town Scottsdale. Ooh, Old Town. Old Town. You know, I was a Mill Avenue dude, but I'm a lot older than you. Sedona Jeep Tour or tubing down the Salt River?
SPEAKER_06:Jeep Tour. I don't trust the water in the Salt River.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, yeah. No one's pee. No one ever gets up to go to the bathroom when they're tubing down the Salt River. ASU Sun Devils or U of A Wildcats?
SPEAKER_06:Sun Devils since I was born.
SPEAKER_03:Heck yeah, me too. There's a lot of Wildcat fans up here, but it's okay. Um nothing but mutual respect though, right? That's right. And last one, this or that. A rattlesnake encounter or a scorpion in your shoe.
SPEAKER_06:Um a rattlesnake, because I can see it better, I think.
SPEAKER_03:Right, exactly. Yeah. Uh that was this or that Arizona edition with Noah Silver. His new song, Made in Arizona, comes out on all streaming platforms tonight at 9 p.m. So go ahead and make sure you uh add that to your playlist and add all of Noah Silver's music to your playlist and follow him on all his socials as well. Noah, thanks so much for calling in and let us uh premiere your song Made in Arizona for the first time here on Q Country925. Thank you for having me, Chris. All right, we'll be right back on Q Country 925. Good morning, it's the Morning Brew with Chris. Who's this?
SPEAKER_05:Good morning, best friend. It's Kirk Nermi.
SPEAKER_03:Heck yeah, Kirk Nermi, my best friend. What's up? What can I do you for this morning?
SPEAKER_05:Well, well, there was some some breaking news yesterday that I noticed. Uh, I was wondering, uh, when did uh this so-called guy Paul from Beaumont become the co-host of the Morning Brew?
SPEAKER_03:What do you mean?
SPEAKER_05:What makes you uh Is he a co-ho is he a co-host?
SPEAKER_03:He's no he's he's a big part of the morning brew. He calls he's a caller. He calls in Yeah, he's a caller, right. But he's he's close. I mean, if I did have a co-host, he would probably be, you know, he would be it.
SPEAKER_05:Because you know, yesterday you announced this possible event celebrating your anniversary, your six years with the show, your great accomplishment. And Paul says, Oh yeah, we we could MC together. Like he invites himself. I mean, I thought, wow, what that's that's just kind of hubris. Was he was he declared to be the co-host? Was or is he just inviting himself? I mean, I I don't know. What's going on with this guy?
SPEAKER_03:He jacked up on the estrogen, is he need a hug? What's going on? Well, May 4th is the uh day that I took over the morning brew, and it's gonna be the six-year anniversary. So I'm thinking of doing some type of uh big bash, and I told Paul about it, and I was like, you know, I I of course I would want Paul out for it. And he's and I'm like, we'll do a concert. And he's like, Yeah, yeah, we'll host it together. And you know what? I think that's perfect. I can't think of anybody else I'd want to uh uh host it with more than uh uh Paul from Beaumont. But he did invite.
SPEAKER_05:Well, I could see see Paul doing trash pickup or something, but I don't I don't get the rest of it.
SPEAKER_03:You and Paul love to just go back and forth and rip each other. I love it.
SPEAKER_05:Uh well I'm I'm happy for old Saggy Size if he gets the chance to come out.
SPEAKER_03:You're just jealous that you're just jealous that he's losing weight the easy way and uh you're doing it the hard way and the healthy way, working out and eating right.
SPEAKER_05:Oh no, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait a wait till Paul hits that rebound, man.
SPEAKER_03:He's gonna weigh more than when he started. All right. Well, we love you, best friend. Thanks for calling in. All right, bye, buddy. Bye. Good morning. It's the morning brew with Chris. Who's this? Yeah, yeah. Yay, yeah, Paul from Beaumont. Your ears must have been burning. Kirk Nermi was just talking about you. Did you hear that?
SPEAKER_04:Yeah, I heard that. Uh yeah, that that's big call coming from somebody to packs on the makeup to be on TV. Oh, that's that's mighty rich. Okay, number two. Uh, I guess just like a defense lawyer doesn't want to listen to all the all the evidence presented, you told me, hey, and I'd like to get you and Ronda out for the May for the May 4th, because that's when we that's when I started the show. Right. And we'll have concerts. I didn't invite myself.
SPEAKER_03:Well, you no, you don't I invited you, and you said, yeah, and we'll host it together. Yeah, and I don't, I of course.
SPEAKER_04:And you said, yeah, and then you were like, you were like, yeah, then we'll get like a concert or so you can get an artist out and have a concert. Yeah, we co-host it. That'd be great.
SPEAKER_03:That would be awesome. I got it. Yeah, well, I hope I hope we can make it happen. We'll start working on it. But why do you think Kirk Nermi's so jealous of you and always trying to pick fights?
SPEAKER_04:Look, he's just butthurt. That's what it is. But hurt by what? He just butt- you know what? He just butthurt the I can go there, I can go to Sholo, I can I can raise money for charities. Nobody really cares to get a cusie from Kirk. Okay. He gotta pay for life synergy.
SPEAKER_03:Who wants that? Oh, Paul is fired up this morning. It is now time for Are You Smarter Than a Redneck on this international beer and pizza day. Something uh that you probably can't eat much now that you're on your fat shot, huh?
SPEAKER_04:No, I I can't really eat much of anything. Okay. We got quesadillas last night. I just had like two little pizza. Oh, so sad. Self-control. It's called self-control.
SPEAKER_03:It's called self-control brought to you by uh a shot that gives you self-control. It's not your own self-control. No. No. Well, for uh beer and pizza day, I thought we would do some pizza trivia. These are not multiple choice. The first one to three correct answers wins. Here we go. What country is believed to be the birthplace of pizza? Chris. Paul. I'm gonna say Italy. Correct answer. Italy. There we go. I'm up one zero. Is that what you were gonna guess?
SPEAKER_05:Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:All right. What type of cheese is most commonly used on pizza? Paul. Mozzarella. Yep, or as our friend Joe G would say, mozzarella. We are tied at one apiece. Mozzarella. What is the term for a pizza baked without cheese? Oh gosh, what's that called? Boring? Yeah, boring. It's marinara. We both got that wrong. Alright, uh next uh in which city would you find the famous deep dish pizza? Paul. Chris, Paul, go ahead. Chicago. You're right. The Bears. Chicago. In which year, this is closest without going over. In which year did frozen pizza first hit the market? Chris, I'm gonna say 1965. What's your guess, Paul?
SPEAKER_04:I'm gonna say, I'm gonna say 1955.
SPEAKER_03:He is closest without going over. Correct answer. 1957. He is smarter than a redneck. Congratulations, Paul. Congratulations, Paul.
SPEAKER_04:Look, man, I am smarter than a radio DJ and a washed up makeup packing weird warrior. Okay. And that's the bottom line because Paul from Bow Might said so.
SPEAKER_03:We love you, buddy. Drive safe, and uh uh hopefully we'll get to uh touch base tomorrow.
SPEAKER_04:Oh, absolutely, man. Yeah, yeah. I can't wait to hear what this clown's got to say for the rest of this show.
SPEAKER_03:Oh my goodness gracious. All right, Paul, we love you, buddy. Bye. All right, bye-bye. Bye, Kurt. Have a wonderful day, buddy. I am so excited to have some guests in studios.
