It was Talk About Something Good Tuesday, and the phones absolutely lit up. We kicked things off with Carie from Snowflake, who called in to brag on her husband and kids and requested a love-soaked dedication for her Marine veteran hubby. That set the tone—family first, gratitude loud—and the good news never slowed down.

Andrea jumped in with another Hallmark Christmas movie review, this time putting Three Wisest Men under the microscope and serving up a four-cup-of-hot-cocoa rating. Then Jineane Ford joined the show with some big personal news (a grandbaby on the way!) before she and Chris dove into uplifting stories from around the world, including a powerful one from England where doctors prescribe fishing to help treat mental health—proof that hope can show up in unexpected places.

Then it was caller chaos in the best way:
 • Virgil the Cowboy from Eagar checked in with his Thanksgiving plans and a song request.
Jan from Heber—aka Jan the Weatherman updated us on his kitties (including one unfortunate eye scratch) and reserved two tickets for the December 20th stand-up comedy show at Rocky’s. Early Bird is on now: just $20 through Friday at midnight.
Paul from Beaumont brought his signature smart-aleck charm.
Tony from Snowflake closed out the morning with a heartfelt health update—insurance finally approved the injections he needs, and relief is finally on the way.

It was a morning filled with good news, good neighbors, and good laughs, reminding us how community truly shines during the holidays.

Listener Dedication And Song Request

SPEAKER_02

From the Horn Auto Center Studios, Chris Bennett and the Morning Brew. Good morning. It's the Morning Brew with Chris. Who's this? This is Carrie. Carrie, holy moly. Is this your first time calling in to the Morning Brew? Oh no. I think I've called maybe once before. Oh, where are you from?

SPEAKER_04

Snowflake.

SPEAKER_02

Carrie? Oh yes, Carrie from Snowflake. That sounds familiar. Well, what can I do you for this morning? Did you call in uh because there's a song you want to hear, a question you want to ask, a game you want to play, or do you want me to figure it out?

SPEAKER_04

Well, a song I want to hear, and it's for my hubby again, Jesse. Oh, I just want to tell him I love him and I love my kids, and I hope everybody has a happy Thanksgiving.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, that's amazing. What do you love most about your husband?

SPEAKER_04

Um, well, he's a strong man. He takes care of me and my kids, and he's a veteran. He served in the s m Marines, and he's just awesome.

SPEAKER_02

Heck yeah. Thank him so much for uh his service. And what song do you want to hear this morning?

SPEAKER_04

Uh, Grandpa Tell Me About the Good Old Days from the Juds.

Hallmark Movie Review: Three Wisest Men

SPEAKER_02

You got it. Here you go. This is Grandpa Tell Me About the Good Old Days by the Juds on Q Country 925. Have a great day, best friend. Yep, thank you. Bye. Bye. And now it's time for Chris's wife to give us her Christmas Hallmark movie reviews. All right, my love. What Hallmark Christmas movie from the 2025 edition are we reviewing this morning?

SPEAKER_03

We're gonna review Three Wisest Men.

SPEAKER_02

Ooh, uh well, uh, I don't even have to necessarily guess what this one is because this is uh this is the third installment of the Three Wise Men and a Baby, right? Yes. There you go. Yes, you uh have reviewed those in the past, loved them. Uh tell us uh what this one is about, and should we watch it?

SPEAKER_03

Well, it just continues with the story of the three brothers, and they're trying to navigate some big life events. One is expecting twins, one's planning a wedding, the other is getting a new job. They're trying to do this all while keeping Christmas special. And so it's you know the usual shenanigans and chaos. And um the first one was rated perfect for me.

SPEAKER_02

Ooh, five cups of hot cocoa?

SPEAKER_03

Yes. I was a little disappointed in the second movie. Um, and this one kind of falls in the middle, so it's still fun to watch with a great message.

SPEAKER_02

Nice. How many uh cups of hot cocoa do you give this one?

SPEAKER_03

I'm gonna give it four cups of hot cocoa.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, so this is one you would definitely recommend watching with the fam.

SPEAKER_03

Still good.

SPEAKER_02

Heck yeah. Four cups of hot cocoa for three wisest men. My love, thank you so much. And uh we'll talk to you tomorrow. So get to watching some more uh Hallmark Christmas movies.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, if you twist my arm.

Thanksgiving Prep And First Grandbaby News

SPEAKER_02

Love you, bye. Janine, you there?

SPEAKER_00

Yes, I am. How are you, Chris?

SPEAKER_02

Oh, doing great.

SPEAKER_00

Two days to Thanksgiving.

SPEAKER_02

Yes. Luckily, I don't do a dang thing uh for prepping uh dinner. My wife takes care of all that. She loves it. She even made a practice turkey. Uh, she always does a practice turkey of Really? Yeah, because she likes to get the drippings and stuff to make the gravy. So it's easier. And then she can also, that's the time she experiments with stuff. So uh, do you have any uh tips for people uh getting ready for Thanksgiving this Thursday?

SPEAKER_00

Well, I did all my homemade stuffing yesterday. I half baked it because I'm taking it down to my son and daughter-in-law. You know, you know that uh they are inducing my daughter in law, my first grandchild is going to be born. They're inducing her Saturday morning. I'm so excited, I know. So I'm we're taking Thanksgiving down to them in the valley. And so I've got all this going on. And this morning I peeled two bags of potatoes. So there you have it. I've got that started. So I'm trying to get everything done ahead.

SPEAKER_02

Well, congratulations. That's uh that's gonna be an exciting week.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, first, first grandbaby. I mean, Clint has five grandchildren, he which he shares with me. So we have grandkids, right? But this is the first from one of my kids.

SPEAKER_02

That's wonderful.

SPEAKER_00

It's gonna be fun, yes.

Good News: Prescribing Fishing For Mental Health

SPEAKER_02

That's great. All right, Janine, it is talk about something good Tuesday. So I have a good news story for you. You ready? Yeah. Uh well, today's good news comes from across the pond in England, where one man's fight with addiction has turned into a life-changing program now being prescribed by doctors. Um, after struggling for a decade with mental health issues and alcohol addiction, a man named Dave Lyons found peace through fishing, and he says, if it wasn't for fishing, I don't think I'd be here. So he wanted to help others. He founded a volunteer program called Tackling Minds, offering free fishing sessions to people dealing with anxiety and depression, and it became so successful that UK's National Health Service now lets doctors prescribe fishing instead of or along with medication uh to treat anxiety or depression. So far, 2,300 people have been prescribed time on the water, complete with equipment, coaching, and support workers. And this year the program received national recognition from King Charles, earning the King's Award for Voluntary Service. And Dave said helping people find peace through nature is what helps keep him going. Aw, very sweet. Pretty interesting. I've never gotten a prescription for fishing. Yeah, exactly. There you go. All right, Janine, we're ready for your good news. What you got for us?

Local Giving Machines And Holiday Volunteering

SPEAKER_00

Well, I just want to highlight the the giving machines, they are just going full tilt right now, and I just think that's all about good news for three different charities up here in the White Mountains. They benefit so many people. That is huge. And you just want to remind everybody, you can't miss it. The giant sign, like the World Giving Machine, right there in the park, there with the barn, you know, Meadow Parkway, where you do your walk at walks and stuff. Just go there and check it out. It's beautiful. We also have all sorts of great things going on, and please help out the Salvation Army with they need bell ringers, they need everything right now, this time of year. Make sure you stop at those red kettles. I saw one yesterday that I stopped at. It was out in Snowflake Taylor in front of Bashes. So there you have it. And there's all so many great things going on, Chris. Heroes Christmas tribute, all the lights are going up in Sholo and everywhere. It's exciting. I love it.

SPEAKER_02

It's my favorite time of year. This uh community in this mountain always has such a giving heart. But uh during uh this uh Christmas season, it just uh it feels amazing to see all the giving opportunities out there for us. That's it. That's it. Sweet. Well, that is some good news on this talk about something good Tuesday. Have a great rest of your day, best friend.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, you too, Chris. Have a good one. Bye-bye.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, same old, same old.

SPEAKER_02

Samo? Like uh have things quieted down on the ranch or do things get busier uh on the ranch and for cowboys and cowgirls when uh winter is getting close?

SPEAKER_06

We were busy, but we got cargo and we are okay. So now the boys and girls are just painting anything they can find.

SPEAKER_02

Uh you're doing what? They're painting anything they can find. Oh, painting anything they can find. And uh what are you and the uh cowboys and cowgirls doing for uh Thanksgiving? Do you celebrate Thanksgiving?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, after they do all this, I'm gonna send them home to their families.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, nice. Once they're done painting everything they could find, they'll go to the uh families, and where are you going?

SPEAKER_06

Uh home, get ready to go to Tucson.

SPEAKER_02

Tucson. Oh, you have uh some family down there? Yeah. Oh, your niece is a wildcat, isn't she?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Oh man, and the ASU and U of A have the big territorial uh cup coming up. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

SPEAKER_06

Jan the weather, man, aka Jan from Heber. Uh, another uh caller I haven't heard from lately. I feel like it's been over a month. Uh, any uh updates uh with you and your kittens?

SPEAKER_05

Uh had a little uh run-in with uh paws one kitty on my eye.

SPEAKER_02

Oh no. Did it get a claw in your eye or just a paw? Just a paw.

SPEAKER_05

Oh uh, fortunately. Fortunately. I mean, if if she'd have had her claws extended, it would have ripped my eye wide open.

SPEAKER_05

Well, I seen him before when he was here.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, he's doing all new material. Uh he's uh this is his he's headlining uh for the first time at the comedy club down in Chandler at Mic Drop two days before, and then we're having him up here, and uh he's uh been working on a bunch of new material this past year, and I think you're gonna love it. It's gonna be a lot of fun. And then a friend of mine, Anthony Thornton, who's a hilarious stand-up comedian that performs all over uh Phoenix and is a regular at Mic Drop, my favorite club. And then Cameron Kahn's gonna open and I'm uh gonna host and work on some new stuff.

SPEAKER_05

SPEAKER_07

Man, after 19 days of waiting for the federal government, I got the end of my pew- pew. Good for you, buddy. Oh, hey, so all the all these people in Arizona that don't already don't like me throwing corn out for deer. They're really not gonna like it because now I'm a beast.

unknown

Pew, pew.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's so weird that you have uh different uh hunting rules than uh the Arizona hunters. I feel like our Arizona hunters have to be more skilled.

SPEAKER_07

I I feel like we're not lame.

SPEAKER_02

Hey, uh, I talked to you last week over the weekend. Uh, you thought Rhonda was trying to wrangle you into putting up Christmas lights. You said it is not gonna happen. What ended up happening?

SPEAKER_05

It happened.

SPEAKER_02

The Facebook Live was right. They knew you'd cave in. How'd she get you to cave in?

SPEAKER_07

Carson came over, and these these lights she got are like year-round lights that they're like LEDs, and you can change them to whatever, whatever holiday or whatever, whatever football team, whatever. So they're like year uh they're like year-round.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, okay. Nice. So you had some help putting them up? Yeah, Carson did it all. Oh, oh, oh, so you didn't do anything.

SPEAKER_07

Well, I handed him the screws to screw them in.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, there you go. It is now time for Are You Smarter Than a Redneck Paul? With Thanksgiving just being a couple days away, we're gonna do some Thanksgiving trivia. If you know the answer, say your name. That's your buzzer. Here we go. What state raises the most turkeys for Thanksgiving? Is it Minnesota, Texas, or Florida? Paul. Paul. Minnesota. It is Minnesota. Man, I thought I was gonna stump you. That was kind of a uh trick question because I knew the answer, but how'd you know it?

SPEAKER_07

Uh, because I mean we just got wild turkeys in Texas, man.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, okay. How fast can a wild turkey run? Is it five miles per hour, 20 miles per hour, or 50 miles per hour? Chris, I'm gonna say 20. It is 20. Uh, you have a lot of wild turkey out there? Are they fast?

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, wow, they are.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, they're pretty fast. They're pretty fast, but they're pretty steepy.

SPEAKER_02

We are tied at one apiece, Paul. This last question will determine who the winner is. Pick a number from six to ten. Uh eight. Do you remember last week when you said four? Yeah. So you said ten, right? Oh, you said eight. Oh, sorry. All right. What dance move did the turkey inspire? Was it the turkey trot, the chicken shuffle, or the gobble shimmy? Oh. Paul.

SPEAKER_07

Oh, the turkey trot.

SPEAKER_02

It is the turkey trot. He is smarter than a handsome radio DJ. Gobble, gobble, gobble. Take a bite out of that, Victory. Congratulations, Paul.

SPEAKER_07

Yes, absolutely, man. Hey, uh, but I'll talk to y'all tomorrow, man, because I'm kind of stuck in town. Uh, mate, I have a great Thanksgiving. Enjoy it. And uh, just have a good time. Be safe.

SPEAKER_02

Absolutely. We love you, best friend. Bye. Good morning. It's the morning brew with Chris. Who's this? Oh no, it's Mr. B. Oh my gosh, today is the best day ever. I'm getting so many calls from longtime callers. I haven't heard it from a while. It is Tony from Snowflake on this Talk About Something Good Tuesday. You have something good for us to talk about?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's kind of some personal good news, but uh after fighting with my insurance company since uh July, finally got approval, and I'm headed to Flagstaff to get the first of uh two injections to see if I'm candidate to have my nerves burnt in my neck.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, well, dude, that's uh good news, and it's uh good news for uh recovery, right?

SPEAKER_01

Yes. Well, after after they get my neck uh squared away, then we go in for soldiers uh shoulder surgery.

SPEAKER_02

Dang. And the and then you'll be a new man. Uh hopefully they put some bionics in me. Well that's a million dollar man. That's great news, buddy. Thanks so much for calling in and letting us know.
