Motivational Monday: Sold-Out Comedy, Hot Gifts & Redneck Christmas Surprises
Motivational Monday lands right in the middle of Christmas week, and this episode delivers laughs, heart, and just enough chaos to feel exactly right.
We kick things off by checking in with Jineane Ford from our sister stations Majik 101.7 and iTalk 106.7, recapping the weekend — including Chris’s sold-out comedy show at Rocky’s Cocktail Lounge and the karaoke chaos that followed. From there, it’s time to get inspired as we share motivational quotes that actually stick, letting Jineane pick the one that sets the tone for the week.
Next up, we play Hot Gift or Not Hot Gift, running through last-minute Christmas gift ideas — separating thoughtful wins from well-intentioned disasters. If you’re still shopping, this segment might save you.
Andrea then joins us for another Hallmark Christmas Movie Review, breaking down A Suite Holiday Romance, a cozy hotel-set holiday story filled with flashbacks, love stories, and plenty of hot cocoa vibes.
Then everyone’s favorite redneck, Paul from Beaumont, calls in and steals the show by revealing he surprised his wife with a brand-new car for Christmas after she refused to say what she wanted. From there, we find out if we’re smarter than a redneck before wrapping things up with a call from Brian from Pinedale.
Motivation, gift ideas, holiday movies, surprise cars, and plenty of laughs — this episode is the perfect soundtrack for Christmas week.
If you enjoyed the show, follow the podcast, share it with a friend, and leave a quick review to help spread the cheer.
From the Horn Auto Center Studios, Chris Bennett and the morning brew. Janine, you there? Yes, I am. Good morning. Hey, good morning, and happy Monday morning. How was your weekend?
SPEAKER_05:Oh, it was pretty good. Yeah. We had uh we have tons of family in town and grand, you know, grandkids and just people everywhere. It was fun.
SPEAKER_00:A lot of fun. You know what? Uh, you got me addicted on something this Christmas. It's called Christmas crack. It was delicious. Christmas crack corn, yes. Christmas crack corn.
SPEAKER_05:It's so delicious. I know. It's like uh it's so easy. I I I needed to have an easy stuff that I was making this year. And if you just look up Christmas crack corn, uh the hardest thing of it, it only like has two to three ingredients if you put sprinkles on it. And it's so easy, but it's so addictive.
SPEAKER_00:It is, it's so good. Andrea found the recipe and made a bunch of extra after you gave us the delicious. I know it was good. But uh, I had an awesome weekend. We had our comedy show at Rockies on Saturday, and it was packed, sold out, and uh so much fun, Janine. We miss you. But my buddy Ryan McKee, who's originally from Payson, he headlined. We had a guy, Anthony Thornton from the Valley, and Cameron Kahn. And uh just uh thank you to everyone that came out and uh fun time, and uh, we even did karaoke afterwards.
SPEAKER_05:Oh, fun. That is so awesome. We've got it big old sell-up. That's great. What a way, great way to celebrate for Christmas. We've got some good laughs.
SPEAKER_00:Great way to end the year, and thank you to everybody that's uh come comes out to my comedy shows. We wouldn't uh be able to do it without you. And stay tuned to Chris Bennett Comedy for future comedy shows. Oh, yeah. All right, Janine, it's time to get motivated. And uh today's the theme with uh Christmas, and it's the season of giving. I thought we would do some motivational quotes based on the power of giving. You ready? I'm ready. All right, here we go. Uh, Anne Frank said, No one has ever become poor by giving. Nice. Winston Churchill says, We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.
SPEAKER_05:Aww. I like that one. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00:Uh Mahatma Gandhi said the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.
SPEAKER_05:That's it's so true. So true. Yes.
SPEAKER_00:All right, and uh, let's see, two more. Uh Kathy Calvin said, Giving is not just about making a donation, it's about making a difference. And our last one is from Steve Prefontaine. To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift. What is today's motivational quote? I'm getting good at it.
SPEAKER_05:Good. They are all good today. But uh, you know what, Mahatma Gandhi is really good. That's a good one.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, all right. So our motivational quote for the week is from Mahatma Gandhi. He says, The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others. Yes. All right, Janine, Christmas is just three days away, and uh I know there's a lot of people out there like me that are procrastinators and uh maybe haven't gotten their gifts yet. So I thought uh you could maybe help me with a hot gift or not gift. These are gifts to give your spouse if you're looking for any last-minute gifts. You ready?
SPEAKER_05:Yes.
SPEAKER_00:All right, what about a uh uh smart thermostat that they'll never program correctly? An a smart thermostat to control the house.
SPEAKER_05:Horrible. Horrible, really?
SPEAKER_00:You don't like that? All right, what about an espresso machine that makes cafe drinks at home? Oh, I like that. All right, that's a good one. Uh, what about a uh I love this one? A DIY coupon book for like free back rubs and chores and lunch dates.
SPEAKER_05:That's always cute.
SPEAKER_00:Oh, oh, that's always fun. I thought for sure you were gonna say that one's lame.
SPEAKER_05:No. I mean it's it's a good thing.
SPEAKER_00:Uh what about a snow globe featuring your own house?
SPEAKER_05:Oh, that's neat. Did we have that made up? That's neat.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, I'm sure it's probably too late now. Yeah. A little late for that now.
SPEAKER_05:For next year. Good plan for next year.
SPEAKER_00:What about a uh singing uh fish to put on your wall that says take me to the river?
SPEAKER_05:No.
SPEAKER_00:No, no, no. Uh, what about kitchen appliances?
SPEAKER_05:Oh, I love those. Of course. Because I love cooking stuff. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, and some people would say that's a bad idea. You shouldn't give kitchen supplies to your spouse. But if you're not sure.
SPEAKER_05:You know, I think if you mix it up, here's the thing. If you give a kitchen appliance, but then something kind of romantic and neat too with it. Like if I give a client, if he's getting a power tool, you know, then I'll give him something else, you know, kind of nice.
SPEAKER_00:Oh, nice.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah.
SPEAKER_00:Uh, and last one, and again, well, you might be able to get this one if you order it today. A personalized photo puzzle of your wedding day.
SPEAKER_05:Ooh, that's neat.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, that's a fun thing. Those are good ideas. Heck yeah. Are you all squared away with your Christmas shopping?
SPEAKER_05:You know what? I am done. Uh yeah, done. I only have a couple little things I have to wrap, but I'm done, yes.
SPEAKER_00:And I imagine Clint's probably done because he's like Superman.
SPEAKER_05:He Yeah, he's pretty much done too, he said. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00:Heck yeah. Yes.
SPEAKER_05:He went out. He did go out Saturday a little bit for some stuff, and I think he's finished up.
SPEAKER_00:All right. Yeah. Well, awesome. Well, that was Hot Gift or not Hot Gift.
SPEAKER_05:Are you done though? That's the question.
SPEAKER_00:I am done. I got everything on Amazon. Did you get it? And uh bought a couple things locally. But uh yeah, I have uh just a couple gifts that are coming in the mail. And my wife took care of all my uh kids' Christmas presents, and I get more surprised uh by uh them opening the presents than they do. Like they do. I bet you do.
SPEAKER_05:I'm like, oh, where's that coming? Peeled out off the ceiling, yes.
SPEAKER_00:Well, Janine, we love you, best friend. Have a great day. Thank you. You have a good one. Bye, Chris. And now it's time for Chris's wife to give us her Christmas Hallmark movie reviews.
SPEAKER_03:We are reviewing a sweet holiday romance, and sweet is S-U-I-T-E.
SPEAKER_00:Oh, okay, a sweet holiday romance. Uh, here's what I think it's about. I think it's about uh a shut-in, someone that doesn't like to uh to leave their place, and they're staying at a very fancy hotel suite, and um they end up uh running out of toilet paper, and they have to call the butler, and the butler comes and it's very embarrassing, but they end up falling in love. Am I right?
SPEAKER_04:Well, there is a butler.
SPEAKER_00:Oh, dude, all right, I was close. What's this one really about?
SPEAKER_04:Oh, so this one was very romantic. Um the main storyline is an aspiring author is given the opportunity to write the memoirs, I guess, of a very famous art viewer. And he puts her up in this incredible suite um at the Grand Fairbanks Hotel. Think of like the richius, like the plaza or something in New York. And while she's there, she meets a man that she mistakenly believes is royalty. Not like a prince, but like a lord.
SPEAKER_00:Oh nice, okay.
SPEAKER_04:He's not. He actually worked for the royal family and is babysitting the lord because he's kind of a playboy, so he's trying to keep the the actual royalty out of trouble. Um this is hard. It's hard to describe because there were so many storylines. There's the main characters, there's the Playboy Lord that and the girl that he falls for. There's the famous art dealer's love story that's told by Ken Flashback. And so there's a lot going on, but it was really well done.
SPEAKER_00:Ooh, well, on a scale of one to five cups of hot cocoa, how many cups of hot cocoa do you give a sweet holiday romance?
SPEAKER_04:I give it four and a half cups of hot cocoa.
SPEAKER_00:Four and a half cups of hot cocoa out of five. That is a steaming hot review from my wife. She highly recommends a sweet holiday romance. And uh, how were the uh the nostrils in this one?
SPEAKER_04:I even like even the art dealer's love story was great. And like you know, I'm not a fan of the geriatric romance, but it was since it was told in like last bath, it was really sweet.
SPEAKER_00:Ooh, a little old people romance in here too. Awesome. Well, sweet. Well, thank you so much for your Hallmark Christmas movie review, my love. We'll talk to you tomorrow. Okay, bye-bye. Bye-bye.
SPEAKER_02:Woo! That's Bob Vlog! Paul Beaumont says so.
SPEAKER_00:Heck yeah, everyone's favorite redneck from Beaumont, Texas. It's Christmas week. Are you still working?
SPEAKER_02:I am right now, man. Hey, look, this week's like like uh oh Kurt Narmy.
SPEAKER_00:It's short, man. It's a short this is a short week for Paul from Beaumont. And uh, dude, I saw uh Santa Claus got Rhonda a crazy good Christmas gift before Christmas. Did you have anything to do with that? I cut up, man.
SPEAKER_02:I was like, Santa Claus kept saying, what do you want? What do you want? And then she'd ask me, well, what do you want? Uh I told her what I wanted. She wasn't she really wouldn't tell me what she wanted, and she started talking about these printers, and it's no, not that. I registered the reviews. And something else, oh no, not that. I was like, yeah, hey bank, I need to get a pre-approval letter. And what did you end up getting her? Uh, we she she liked the Volkswagen, so we got her the Volkswagen Atlas.
SPEAKER_00:You got her a new car for Christmas? Yeah. Dude, were you bad this year? Or what uh what inspired such a generous gift? Her not telling me what she wanted. Oh, wow. Everyone should take a lesson from Rhonda. Don't tell people what you want, and they'll just end up getting you a brand new car. Maybe. Maybe not.
SPEAKER_02:But uh I should have got her a lot more. She already got the weed whacker and the leaf blower.
SPEAKER_00:Well, that is uh awesome, Paul. Did you put a bow on it and all that?
SPEAKER_02:No uh no. She had to come, I had to drop a truck off, and she happened to be in town, and nobody could come get me. I was like, great, come pick me up. And I said, and then I was like, hey, I we gotta stop over here. I gotta pick something up. Go back before I go back to work, I gotta pick something up for work. And we flip around and she's like, Hey, we go, you gotta pick something up at the Mercedes? Hell no, I ain't got nothing I gotta pick up at Mercedes.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah? So it was like right next door to it. Oh, and then so she had no idea and you pulled in and you had it already ordered and all that? No, no, no, I don't like my lust. I'm not picking it up. Oh, nice. So she picked it out. Well, heck yeah, man. It is now time for Are You Smarter Than a Redneck with Paul from Beaumont. It is Christmas week, so I thought we'd do some Christmas trivia. You ready? Let's do this. All right. What popular Christmas decoration was originally made from spider webs? Was it tinsel, garland, ornaments, or wreaths? Chris. Paul. I'm gonna say tinsel. It is tinsel. I'm up one zero. All right, here we go, Paul. Next one. What Chris What was the first Christmas song played in outer space? Was it Jingle Bells? Silent Night, White Christmas, or Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer? Paul Paul. Jingle Bells. Is it jingle bells? It is jingle bells. There you go. We're tied at one apiece. This last question will determine who the winner is. Pick a number from one to ten. Tien. Tien. Alright. According uh to tradition, what should you leave out for Santa in Sweden? In Sweden, Paul. Oh is it? Uh sardines? No, it is not sardines. It's either cookies of milk, coffee, rice pudding, or sausage. Chris, I'm gonna say rice pudding. Woo! It is rice pudding. Nice. Santa has a little rice pudding in uh Sweden. And then in America, his most popular treat is chocolate chip cookies. I am smarter than a redneck, buddy. Merry Christmas to you, buddy.
SPEAKER_02:That's your Christmas to you.
SPEAKER_00:Awesome. Well, Paul, uh, we love you so much. Hopefully, we get to talk to you uh uh before Christmas, but if we don't, thank you so much for being part of the morning brew and being such a great friend.
SPEAKER_02:Well, look, look, love all y'all, man. I don't get to talk to y'all. Y'all have a great Christmas, D safe, and enjoy your family.
SPEAKER_00:All right, we love you, Paul. Bye. All right, bye-bye. Good morning. It's the morning brew with Chris. Who's this? Good morning, champion Chris Bennett. Heck yeah, it's Brian from Pinedale. I saw you Saturday night at uh the comedy show at Rockies.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, thank you for a great show. Absolutely. I could hear all the jokes real clear. Nice. So the sound was great in there. And me and my wife had a great time.
SPEAKER_00:That's good. It's a good date night to go out uh and uh laugh.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_00:Yes.
SPEAKER_01:We were laughing all the way home. So, anyways, I called to thank you and to wish all your listeners a Merry Christmas this year and hopefully a better new year.
SPEAKER_00:All right, absolutely. You too, best friend. Before I let you go, let's play a quick little game called Old Man Christmas. Tell me if this is real or made up. Ready? Okay, go. All right, uh uh there is a Christmas pickle ornament hidden in the tree. Is that uh real tradition or made up? Made up. No, it's real. It's a German in Germany. In Germany.
SPEAKER_01:Oh, I learned something today.
SPEAKER_00:All right, uh, real or made up, there's a candle that smells like fruitcake.
SPEAKER_01:A candle that smells like fruitcake. Yes.
SPEAKER_00:Made up. No, that's real. Oh man. That's real. I don't like to eat uh uh a fruitcake, let alone I don't think I want to smell it. Yeah, exactly. All right, and uh uh last one, uh a Santa hat for dogs that says I barked all year for this. Yeah. Yeah, that's real. There you go.
SPEAKER_01:We got one out of three. Not too bad.
SPEAKER_00:Not too bad. Awesome. Well, we love you, best friend, and uh Merry Christmas.
SPEAKER_01:You too, Chris, and all your all your listeners.
SPEAKER_00:Absolutely.
SPEAKER_01:Bye.
SPEAKER_00:Bye
