The Morning Brew with Chris Bennett
New Beginnings, Boo or Cool & Are You Smarter Than A Redhead Movie Trivia Showdown
We kick off Monday with our favorite kind of energy—friends, motivation, and a little fun chaos. The show starts with a check-in with our best friend Jineane Ford from our sister stations Majik 101.7 and iTalk 106.7, where we talk about Jelly Roll’s inspiring weight-loss journey and what real, lasting change actually looks like.
That leads into some motivational quotes about new beginnings and setting goals, perfect for anyone needing a fresh start—or a reminder that progress doesn’t have to be perfect.
Next up, it’s Boo or Cool with grumpy-but-loveable Dave Ramsey, followed by a quick Country News Minute to keep you up to speed on what’s happening in country music.
And since our favorite redneck Paul from Beaumont didn’t call in, Are You Smarter Than a Redneck? took a twist. In honor of National Screenwriters Day, we played Are You Smarter Than a Red Head: Movie Edition with best friendra Kendra—and let’s just say… she knows her movies.
Motivation, laughs, music news, and trivia—everything you need to start the week right.
From the Horn Auto Center Studios, Chris Bennett and the morning brew. Janine, you there? Yes, I am. How are you? I'm doing good on this National Weigh-in Day. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02:Yep, National Weigh-in Day. And you know, a lot of people they know their weight because they're doing those new all the New Year's resolutions. So don't be too hard on yourself, you know? But you can be inspired by Jelly Roll. Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, what happened uh with Jelly Royal?
SPEAKER_02:Well, the latest, here's the thing. Um, you know, Jelly has lost 275 pounds now, okay? And he says he's now living in a dramatically different world. At his heaviest, I know you guys know Jelly was probably 540 pounds. Now he's down to 265. Oh my gosh. To celebrate, he just posed for the cover of Men's Health. You have to look at the picture. Unbelievable. Jelly says nutrition and exercise helped him, but the real change came when he treated food like an addiction. He says once he addressed why he was eating, everything shifted. And this is the funniest part. Back in 2024, he told his wife Bunny that he was going to drop the weight and he wanted to be on the cover of Men's Health Magazine by March of 2026. Well, he beat his own goal by two months. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00:That's awesome. I'm looking at the cover. He looks amazing.
SPEAKER_02:I know, like a different person, a whole different person. Completely. Yeah, so there's your inspiration, everybody.
SPEAKER_00:Heck yeah. Good little motivation on motivational Monday. All right, Janine, it's the start of a new week and the new year. So let's get motivated with some uh motivational quotes about new beginnings and goals. You ready? I'm ready. All right, uh Martin Luther King Jr. said, you don't have to see the whole path, just take the first step.
SPEAKER_02:Yep, there we go.
SPEAKER_00:That got me going. Uh Karen Lamb said, a year from now you'll wish you had started today.
SPEAKER_03:There you go. That's true too. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00:Uh let's see. Uh, this is from Unknown. Goals don't have to be big, they just have to be yours. Is that good or is that lame? You think that's a little lame? Uh let's see.
SPEAKER_02:Well, you don't want to be doing other people's goals, okay?
SPEAKER_00:That's true, yeah. Robert Kayasaki says your future is created by what you do today, not tomorrow. Ooh. And last one, let's do uh Arthur Ash. Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can.
SPEAKER_03:Ooh, I like that one a lot. Nice. That's a good uh motivational quote to start 2026, you think? Let's do that one. I love that, Arthur Ash.
SPEAKER_00:Arthur Ash, start where you are, use what you have, do what you can. There we go. Janine, you are the best. I'm motivated, and I'm ready to kick 2026's butt. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah, let's all follow Jelly's lead. It's a good day, a good year. Let's have a great 2026.
SPEAKER_00:That's right. Awesome. We love you, best friend.
SPEAKER_02:Love you too, Chris. Thank you. Bye-bye. Bye-bye.
SPEAKER_00:I am on the phone with Show Low Zone, Dave Ramsey, star of Boo or Cool. Do you have any New Year's resolutions or goals?
SPEAKER_01:No.
SPEAKER_00:No, you don't ever do resolutions or goals?
SPEAKER_01:No.
SPEAKER_00:No, why not? Never stick to them.
unknown:Oh.
SPEAKER_00:Well, for today's Boo or Cool, Dave, I thought we would do some uh trendy uh diets that are happening this year and some trendy resolutions. Uh and you tell me if they're boo or cool. Ready? Ready. What about the keto diets? Very low carbs, lots of fat, no bread, sugar, and you eat things like meat, cheese, and eggs. Boo or cool. Boo. Why?
SPEAKER_01:Sounds gross.
SPEAKER_00:How about intermittent fasting? You only eat during certain hours of the day and skip meals the rest of the time.
SPEAKER_01:I guess if you're into it, that would be cool, but I not for me it's boo.
SPEAKER_00:Okay. How about juice cleanse? Drinking only juice for a few days to reset your b uh uh body.
SPEAKER_01:Boo, too much pee in.
SPEAKER_00:Too much pee in. Uh how about here's some uh trends people are doing uh cold plunges. They jump into freezing cold water on purpose. Eh, if that's their thing. That's your thing, though. Cool, but but not for you. Not for me. How about digital detox, deleting or limiting social media and screen time? Depends on who you're de-screening. Well, just not spending as much time on your phone. You do spend a lot of time on your phone.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, I do.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, maybe you need a little digital detox.
SPEAKER_01:Boo or cool. Cool.
SPEAKER_00:Oh, oh, there we go. We got one cool. And last one, Dave, it is January. A lot of people do dry January, no alcohol for the entire month of January. Boo or cool. Cool. Yeah, pretty cool. All right, that was Boo or Cool with some trendy uh diets. We just did Boo or Cool with some New Year's resolutions, and now I thought we would do some uh Boo or Cool with uh things we can expect in 2026. Here we go, Dave. First one. How about more artificial intelligence in everyday life? Your car, your phone, appliances, that type of thing. Boo. You do you're not a fan of the uh the AI? No. Okay. Uh what about uh uh electric vehicles becoming more common than gas in some cities?
SPEAKER_01:Boo.
SPEAKER_00:Boo. You're not a you're not an electronic vehicle guy.
SPEAKER_01:No.
SPEAKER_00:Do you think in your lifetime you'll ever they'll get good enough to where you'll be one?
SPEAKER_01:No. Oh no.
SPEAKER_00:What about uh self-checkout everywhere? This year we we can expect fewer human cashiers. Boo or cool. Cool. Oh, really? I thought you'd like dealing with an actual person. I haven't dealt with an actual person probably for five years now. What about a smart home that can learn your habits? Like when lights are on, you know, turn the AC off, save you money, things like that. Cool. Cool. But you said in the beginning that you weren't a fan of AI, but now you're okay with your your uh house being a little smarter?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, but that doesn't have to deal with AI.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, it does. That's uh that it's smart homes basically become smarter with the use of AI. Boo. No, okay. So you're not letting AI in your house?
SPEAKER_01:No.
SPEAKER_00:Would you ever have an AI girlfriend?
SPEAKER_01:Hell no.
SPEAKER_00:Did you know some people do that?
SPEAKER_01:Oh, more power to them. Well, that's digital imagery. Doo boo.
SPEAKER_00:Totally boo. Well, that was Boo or Cool with our best friend Dave. We love you, best friend, and I hope your uh 2026 gets better.
SPEAKER_01:Okay.

Uh, in relationship news, Zach Bryan has the internet buzzing after reports surfaced of his recent uh wedding to Samantha Leonard in Spain, who looks almost identical to his most recent ex, Brianna Chicken Fry La Paglia. And uh people are saying, whoo man, uh they uh broke up last year. Uh he had another girlfriend, then started dating this girl, and they got married in Spain. Congratulations to his ex's doppelganger. And uh also making waves, it's Riley Green has addressed rumors of his dating life. People have uh tied him to Ella Langley, Megan Moroney, but he's keeping things vague and says he is single and still ready to mingle. And uh on the business side, Dan and Shay have uh new uh music management, and uh Empire Nashville continues expanding its presence in country music. And on the charts, uh Parma Lee has recorded its fifth number one in country music charts uh with their song Cowgirl. I'm Chris Bennett, and that was my country news minute. All right, normally this is where we would find out if we are smarter than a redneck, but unfortunately, Paul is busy and can't talk to us today. So we're gonna find out if I'm smarter than a redhead with the help of my best friend, Kendra the best friendra. How are you doing this new year? I am good. How about yourself? Good. Star Wars, Harry Potter, or dude? Kendra Kendra. Star Wars? Star Wars, gosh, she yeah, you love your sci-fi movies. I'm not gonna beat you there. All right, next. You know, I got Star Wars tattoos. Uh you're just gonna crush me on this, I think. A group of friends go on a road trip to destroy a powerful object. Is it Harry Potter, The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, Kendra, or Indiana Jones. Kendra. Lord of the Rings. Holy moly. I don't think I've gotten one right. We're gonna do one more question. If I get it right, it's worth a million points. I win. Pick a number from four to ten. Uh seven. All right. Here we go. Seven. A group of toys panic when a new favorite arrives. Kendra. Toys. Toy story. Toy story. Ding, ding, ding, ding.
