SPEAKER_00From the Horn Auto Center Studios, Chris Bennett and the Morning Brew. Good morning. It's the Morning Brew with Chris. Who's this?
SPEAKER_02Hey, good morning, my friend.
SPEAKER_00Heck yeah, it's Virgil the Cowboy from Eager, Arizona. How are you doing on this uh Monday morning, aka National Football Hangover Day?
SPEAKER_02Um, my team won.
SPEAKER_00Heck yeah, you were going for the Seahawks? Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_01I lived in Seattle for three years.
SPEAKER_00Holy moly. Oh, so you've been a fan. It wasn't like you just became a fairweather fan for the uh the game.
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_00Nice, nice. So you're part of the 12. They kept talking about the 12, and that's their fan base, and they kept giving you guys credit. So congrats to you two.
SPEAKER_01Thank you.
SPEAKER_00Well, anything new and juicy on the ranch with the cowboys, cowgirls? Anything new in your life? Uh they were half and half.
SPEAKER_01They what? They were half and half. Oh. Let's see how they were for the Patriots.
SPEAKER_00Oh, the Patriots, I see. So they're going to edit it right now. Uh, what uh do you have planned for uh Valentine's Day? Do you have a Valentine's? What do you do on Valentine's Day?
SPEAKER_02Um, I'll probably send them home.
SPEAKER_00Oh, really? You're not gonna make them work on Valentine's Day?
SPEAKER_01No, I'll send them home.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that's nice. Gosh, you're the nicest boss ever. Well, what can I do you for uh today there, Virgil?
SPEAKER_01Oh, they want to hear jelly roll.
SPEAKER_00Ooh, any particular uh jelly roll song? That heart of stone. Heart of Stone. Heck yeah. You got it, Virgil. We love ya. I hope you have a uh great day, and uh hopefully we'll talk to you soon. Don't be a stranger. UBC. All right. You too. Bye-bye. Good morning. It's the morning brew with Chris. Who's this?
SPEAKER_01Well, good morning, Mr. Small Town Famous. It's your best friend Kirk Nermi.
Sitcom Offer And On-Air Banter
SPEAKER_00Our best friend Kirk Nermy from the Valley. He's also an actor. He's gonna be uh the lead in a television sitcom uh being filmed a little later this year. To what do we owe the honor of your phone call this morning, best friend?
SPEAKER_01Well, Chris, obviously I gotta call in and uh let you know that I'm celebrating the Seahawks second Super Bowl win. I've been a fan since I was 10 years old, and they came to my hometown of Seattle, and yesterday I got to watch them win the Super Bowl.
SPEAKER_00Uh, must be nice. Gosh dang it. The Cardinals didn't win the how'd the Cardinals do this year, Chris? We weren't even allowed to watch it uh this year.
SPEAKER_01No, uh Cardinals fans were not allowed, no.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. Producer Ryan was out there for the Super Bowl for uh Intuit in their Instagram, and he was filming the NFL fan experience, and there are all these people lined up to take pictures with a cowboy uniform or a Seahawk uniform. Nobody in line for a Cardinals uniform.
SPEAKER_01Oh but I bet I know producer Ryan was wearing a sweatsuit.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you know it, you know it. Well, congratulations. Got the leisure wear. Man, this year is uh turning out roses for you. Your team won the Super Bowl, you're gonna be uh at the lead in a TV sitcom. What more can you ask for?
SPEAKER_01Well, I tell you, I got one more thing I can ask for because Saturday, your ears might have been burning. No one wanted a cake delivery for Mr. Chris. Oh, not at all. But everyone on the everyone on the team, and on behalf of the team, I'm calling to uh offer you a role in the life of Nermi sitcom that we will be filming later this year.
SPEAKER_00Holy moly, I'll get to be in the sitcom? The life of Nermi with you? You do, but you know, do you want to hear the role?
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I'll do whatever you want me to do, but what is the role?
SPEAKER_01Well, I know. And that's that's why we love you, Chris. But listen, I know you're one of the greatest actors of our generation. Just untapped. Not everybody realizes yet. This role is gonna be a stretch for you, but are you ready?
SPEAKER_00I'm ready.
SPEAKER_01You think you can handle this? Emotionally vulnerable comics.
SPEAKER_00No way, I'm too manly. I don't know if I have that.
SPEAKER_01You don't know if you can handle that. You don't know if you can uh get upset, maybe cry a little bit.
SPEAKER_00I don't know. I don't know. I'm I don't cry a whole lot, but you know, I'm up to the challenge.
SPEAKER_01Oh, you're pretty emotionally stable, I know. So this is a stretch for you, but if you feel like you can handle it, we'd love to have you be a part of the life of Nermi.
SPEAKER_00Oh, dude, that's so exciting. I would be honored and thank you so much, uh uh Kirk Nermi. This is so exciting. I can't wait.
SPEAKER_01Well, I'm I'm looking forward to it as well, but you know, leave your bikini at home at least until the rap party. Oh, right.
SPEAKER_00Well, we love you, Kirk Nermi. Thanks so much, best friend.
Redneck Super Bowl Review
SPEAKER_01Love you, and I'm so glad you're joining the life of Nermi, buddy. Heck yeah. Bye. Bye.
SPEAKER_00Woo!
SPEAKER_02That's my vlog!
SPEAKER_00Yay, yay! Heck yeah, it's everyone's favorite. Redneck from Beaumont, Texas. It's Paul from Beaumont. It is National Football Hangover Day. Uh, do you have a football hangover today? No, no, uh, no. Oh, good, good.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00Give us your redneck review. Give us your redneck review of the uh Super Bowl. This is all it was a boring game, right? Yeah, I mean, bro.
SPEAKER_02Kickoff and the in, it was lame, bro. Yeah, lame.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. Seattle, the it was definitely a defensive uh matchup for sure, and uh it it wasn't fun to watch.
SPEAKER_02It was a Phil Go game, it was a special teams guy.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. And then I know there was uh controversy, you know, uh with the uh the halftime show. I think there was at least. I don't pay attention to any of that. I always look at the halftime show as a Broadway show because I was a theater major, so I admire all the props. I ad not admire the set design, I admire just the show. And uh I thought it was pretty good. What did you think of the uh halftime show?
SPEAKER_02Well, I thought it blew. I lost about 40 seconds of it. And then the Budweiser Codsgales were staying there at the Grand Ferry's house. I grabbed I grabbed two beers and I'ma go I'm gonna go listen to something that I don't understand. I'd rather go listen to the Budweiser Podscale.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. What was your uh favorite uh uh commercial from the Super Bowl?
SPEAKER_02I didn't even I mean, I didn't even really play attention to be honest. It was just a lame game. Right. It was just a lame game. I mean, uh everybody left, went home early.
SPEAKER_00Are you watching any of the Olympics?
SPEAKER_02No, no, I'm not gonna I'm not big into Olympics. I've been watching this stuff on ESPN they got all kinds of weird sports like they had soap hockey. Soap hockey? Yeah, it's like a car. And they put water and soap on it, you're barefooted, you play hockey. And they had car wrestling where you try to stop the other guy and two tractor cars. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Those are the sports that Paul from Beaumont's into. Uh well, how about when we're look, man, there's no controversy in that. It's just straight up soap hockey. It is now time for Are You Smarter Than a Redneck with our favorite redneck, Paul, from Beaumont, Texas. In honor of the Winter Olympics happening right now, Paul. I thought we would do some Winter Olympic trivia. If you know the answer, say your name. That's your buzzer. Are you ready? Let's do this. What country invented curling? Was it Canada? Scotland or Norway?
SPEAKER_02Paul Paul.
SPEAKER_00I was thinking Canada, but I would say Norway. That's what I would say. Or Canada. Nope. Correct answer. Scotland. Gosh dang it. We're tied at zero apiece. What do curlers yell to make the stone go farther? Is it hurry, sweep, or faster rock? Paul. Paul. Paul.
SPEAKER_02Sweep, sweep, sweet, sweep, sweep.
SPEAKER_00Is it sweep? Yep, that's what it is. It's sweep, sweep, sweep, sweep, sweep.
SPEAKER_02I didn't know you could talk. I didn't know you could talk to rock and make it do something. Kurt, Kurt. Hey, Kurt, you want to have a conversation on top of it? I'll make you go for it.
SPEAKER_00Alright, you're up 1-0. If you get this next one right, it's over. If I get it right, it goes into overtime. Here we go. Which Olympic Which Olympic sport has athletes doing flips in the airs on skis? Is it the biathlon? Freestyle skiing or speed skating? Paw. Pa. Yeah, freestyle skiing. Freestyle skiing. He got the gold. He is smarter than a very handsome radio DJ. Congratulations. What's your favorite uh Olympic sport?
Olympics Talk And Offbeat Sports
SPEAKER_02Uh uh. I don't have judging yet so I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Good morning. It's the morning brew with Chris. Who's this? Robert. Robert, where are you from, Robert? From Sholo. Robert from Solo calling to win four tickets to the Arizona Renaissance Festival. I gave Robert the choice of trivia for uh either chocolate day, national cut the chord streaming tri uh TV trivia or winter Olympic trivia, and he picked Chocolate Day trivia. You have to get two right, you win the tickets, three wrong, you're gone. They're multiple choice. Are you ready? Yes, sir. Chocolate comes from what plant is it? A potato, B, co uh cacao tree, or C, the coffee bean?
SPEAKER_01Uh coco tree.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, ding ding ding. He's one away from taking these tickets home. Which country eats the most chocolate per person? Is it A, Switzerland, B, USA, or C, Australia? Uh Switzerland. Is it Switzerland? Are you cheating? Or are you just a really smart when it comes to chocolate?
SPEAKER_02I guess that's when it comes to chocolate. In Switzerland, they're like the number one chocolate country.
SPEAKER_00That's right. Congratulations, Robert from Sholo. You just won four tickets to the Arizona Renaissance Festival. Have you ever been? Uh yeah. What's your favorite part? Um, I'm definitely all about the food and uh birds of prey. Oh, yeah, that's a good uh that's a good one too. Well, uh, you just uh got four tickets. You're going. What station hooked you up? Uh 92.5. Yeah. Woo! Janine, you there? Yes, I am. How are you, Chris? I'm doing awesome. How are you doing on this uh Super Bowl Monday or what do they call it? Football hangover Monday.
SPEAKER_03I know. What a weekend. Oh my gosh, you know, the Olympics, Lindsay Vaughn breaking her leg. That was so sad. Breezy, though, got we're we're trailing in the medals, you know that we're in third place behind Norway and Switzerland, but we'll get there. We'll get there. Yeah. And uh and then the Super Bowl. So you watched the Super Bowl?
SPEAKER_00I did. I watched the the Super Bowl and I watched the uh the regular halftime show.
Are You Smarter Than A Redneck
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I watched we watched the Super Bowl and had all the goodies put out and all that stuff. I cooked all morning, I swear. And then had friends over. And then I we switched over to the alternative halftime show with Kid Rock. It was amazing. I have no comment on Bad Bunny because we switched. Right. But it was unreal. Lee Bryce, his new song, he literally sang it right there. Gabby Barrett was unreal. Um, and then Kid Rock, he took Kojo's song, Until You Can't. And he said it he woke up in the middle of the night and he had to get up and write this extra verse, got code Cody Johnson's approval. Oh my gosh, it's incredible the way they ended that show. It was like wow. And then tribute to Charlie Kirk, and then it went away. And the early numbers, uh, Chris, are like, you know, just live, they had more than it's like on the streaming things, they're looking at around 20 million, and then it's like 10 to 12 on the live one on because it was in so many different places. Right. It was 10 million just on YouTube, but there were the Christian networks and all these other places, so it could be like, you know, 30 million, 35 million. They're expecting it to go up as they get more of those numbers in.
SPEAKER_00Wow, so they'll probably keep doing it every year. Is that the plan?
SPEAKER_03They've already announced that they'll probably do it next year because the NFL's halftime choices have been um a little controversial and a lot and they're they feel like they're not family oriented, you know. And so they're probably gonna uh do it. It's really good. It was really good. But uh yeah, but you with playing all your country music, it was all your big stars that were playing in the alternative line.
SPEAKER_00I'll have to I'll have to go back and uh watch some of the uh the highlights uh from that one. But I you know what I love this year, the commercials.
SPEAKER_03They were so good. Oh my gosh. I love the commercials more this year. I and that state farm commercial, you know. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_00Oh my gosh, with uh Jordan Peel and uh Danny McBride, almost their insurance.
SPEAKER_03And then how with John Bon Jovi at the end, stop living on a prayer. Yeah. And then the the polar bears, oh my gosh, the Coke Bear cheating on and cheating with Pepsi, with the you know, it was so great, and then the of course the Budweiser Eagle. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_00That was adorable.
SPEAKER_03That was a great so many good ones.
SPEAKER_00That was a good one. I love the uh Intuit Turbo Tax ones with the uh that Brody, what's his name? Oh yes, yes. Yeah, where he's just trying to be so dramatic for all the commercials. That was good. Well, how did you feel about the manscaping? Oh my gosh, that was so gross.
SPEAKER_03I know, but that was so gross, but it made you look at it though. I was like, what? Everyone was talking, I'm like, what is going on? What is that? Little heaps of hair to oh my gosh. Yeah, crazy. Well uh oh, one more. One more. I loved the rear end one for prostate cancer testing. Clever, clever, very good. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_00Clever, funny, great message. Yes, that was a wonderful one. Uh, I have some exciting news. I know.
SPEAKER_03Is it about your comedy show?
SPEAKER_00Yes, Chris Bennett Comedy and Alaberto's presents stand-up comedy at the Show Low Elks Lodge. March 14th, we have headliner Eric Schwartz that has over a hundred million views on his uh comedy on the internet. Uh, also been on the Tonight Show Showtime. Renaissance Festival Ticket Winner
SPEAKER_00What's so cool about this is it's like this guy, Eric Schwartz, he's headlining in May at the Tempe Improv, like one of the biggest clubs in the country. And so we're bringing like these big national acts that are headlining some of the biggest clubs in the country to our small town. And the coolest thing, they love performing in our small town better than uh the big city clubs. They just say our audiences are amazing. So it's exciting to bring such high quality comedy to the mountain. And hopefully everyone can uh join us and get your tickets today at Chris Bennettcomedy.com.
SPEAKER_03Yes, Chris. Thank you, thank you. You're welcome. Awesome.
SPEAKER_00It is motivational Monday. Janine, you ready to get motivated on this Monday? Let's get motivated. And with it being the Winter Olympics, I thought we would do some Olympian gold medalist motivational quotes. Ooh, very nice. First one is from Lindsay Vaughn. Uh, we heard about her horrible crash this weekend. Uh, here's her quote: you have to fight through some bad days to earn the best days of your life.
SPEAKER_03Aww.
SPEAKER_00Uh, Sean White, uh, the snowboarding legend, said the best way to make your dreams come true is to wake up. Very good. Uh, Chloe Kim, a snowboarding uh gold medalist. Just go out there and do your thing. Don't matter about what anyone else is doing. Oh, I like that one. Do you like that one? Or is that lame? I like all of these. Okay. Yeah. Uh Apollo Ono, speed skating champion. Uh, you must be willing to give up what you are to become what you will be.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, Ono, he is great. He's so good. Have you ever met him? Apollo. No, but I loved watching it.
SPEAKER_00I went as him uh for Halloween one year in uh like 1999, I think. All right, and last one, Scott Hamilton, figure skating legend. Adversity, if you allow it to, will fortify you and make you the best you can be.
SPEAKER_03Scott Hamilton, great, great, great guy. Yeah, all of those are so good. You know what though, I have to go with Lindsay Vaughn just because what a bad wreck. I I feel it was so bad for her. Is and and it's the opposite leg of her torn ACL. Oh, really? She was skiing with. She decided a complete 100% tear for ACL in the other leg. And so that the one leg was having to do it all, and she broke it. Oh my gosh. I love all of those. We're really good ones.
SPEAKER_00Awesome. Well, today's motivational quote for the week from Lindsay Vaughn. You have to fight through some bad days to earn the best days of your life. Uh I hope you're motivated and pumped, best friend.
SPEAKER_03Yes, yes. Go USA. USA. Yeah, we're behind. We're in third place right now for the metal camp, but we'll get there. We'll get there.
SPEAKER_00We'll get there.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Awesome. Well, have a great day, Janine. We'll talk to you tomorrow.
SPEAKER_03Chris, have a good one. Bye bye. Bye-bye.
