Tubing Weekend And Sunrise Recap

SPEAKER_02

From the Horn Auto Center Studios, Chris Bennett and the Morning Brew. Good morning, it's the Morning Brew with Chris. Who's this?

SPEAKER_04

Hey, good morning, my friend.

SPEAKER_02

Heck yes, it's Virgil the Cowboy from Eager Arizona. How was your weekend?

SPEAKER_04

I survived sunrise.

SPEAKER_02

You survived sunrise. Did you go skiing? Tubing. Tubin? Holy moly! Did you go tubing by yourself or did you have a group that you went with?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, the family came from the valley.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, that's nice. Do you go tubing with your cowboy hat on?

SPEAKER_04

Um no.

SPEAKER_02

You take the cowboy hat off for the tubing. Well, that's awesome, man. I'm glad you had a good time. Uh are you in one piece? Are you sore now?

SPEAKER_04

Or I'm alright, but I suggest the people to get out there and enjoy it. Don't look like it's gonna last long.

Country Music News Minute

Granddaughter Guest And Spring Break Plans

SPEAKER_02

Right, right. So you're you're telling everyone to get out there while you can. Yep, they'll be open this weekend. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Make sure you head out and hit the slopes or go tubing like our friend Virgil the Cowboy. It is now time for Chris's country news minute. And we got big tour news this morning for country fans. In Arizona, Thomas Rhett just announced his brand new soundtrack to Life Tour, kicking off this summer and hitting more than 20 cities across the country. And the tour's gonna make a stop right here in Arizona, baby, October 10th at Talking Stick Resort Amphitheater in Phoenix. And uh fans can uh be ready to expect a high-energy show packed with hits and new music, and tickets uh will go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m. Uh Gabby Barrett just dropped a new uh music video for her breakup track, The Easy Part, which is quickly gaining traction across across the country on streaming platforms and radio. And uh Ella Langley is sharing the wild inspiration behind her hit song Choosin' Texas. The idea actually came from a story about Miranda Lambert once getting pulled over with a pet kangaroo in the passenger seat of her car. Uh that moment eventually inspired uh this now chart-topping song, Choosin' Texas. I'm Chris Bennett, and that was my country news minute. Janine, you there?

SPEAKER_03

Yes, I am. How are you, Chris? And I have a guest today because it's it's spring break. Oh, who's your guest? I have our granddaughter Addy in studio with me. Heck. Hi guys. Hey! Hi, Addy, isn't she?

SPEAKER_02

She's amazing. Addie, you having a fun spring break?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

What are you gonna do for spring break?

SPEAKER_00

Um, for spring break, we're making like glass art. We're gonna like pay art stuff.

SPEAKER_02

Ooh.

SPEAKER_00

And we're gonna do some art that grandma's been doing and ride horses.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Yeah. You're lucky you got a cool grandma. She has a cool horse.

SPEAKER_03

Her horse what's your horse's name, Addie? Bowie. Bowie. She's gonna ride Buoy. We're doing some glass art. We're making those glass um yard flowers. You know, you make them out of old vintage plates and stuff. Yeah, it's fun.

SPEAKER_02

That's nice. Um, what was I gonna ask you? I had a super juicy question. Um I forget. It's all right. There we go. Uh oh, oh, I know. Um, so are you back to riding your horse then, Janine? That was my question.

Barbie Day Quotes And Motivation

SPEAKER_03

Um, I I can soon. I'm getting the leg is almost just fine, and I'm probably gonna borrow Addy's horse buoy at first because I uh because my my regular horse is a little hot, and I my leg I have to make sure I'm totally healed up. I'm supposed to go and get a bone scan here this week, so we'll see what happens.

SPEAKER_02

All right, hopefully you'll be clear to get back on the saddle soon. Yes. Sweet. Uh yeah, my daughter's in Salt Lake City for her spring break. Nice. And uh having a lot of fun. So it's just uh my wife and I are empty nesters.

SPEAKER_03

Ooh, that's kind of good for you, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Well, my mother-in-law's there too.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, yeah. Okay, still have to be quiet.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. All right, Janine and Addy, are you guys ready to get motivated on this motivational Monday?

SPEAKER_03

Yes. Addie says yes.

SPEAKER_02

Yes. And it's also uh National Barbie Day. Ooh. Yeah, so I thought we would do some Barbie Day motivational quotes and dream big quotes. You guys ready? Yes. All right, let me know which one is our quote for the week. First quote is from Barbie. It's her most recognizable quote. Anything is possible. Mmm. Barbie. All right, uh, next one, uh, Maya Angelou says, You alone. Oh, and these are also people that have had Barbie dolls uh made after them. Maya Angelou says, You're you alone are enough. You have nothing to prove to anybody. Amelia Earhart says the most difficult thing is the decision to act. The rest is merely tenacity. Work hard. Work hard. Uh Oprah Winfrey, she has a Barbie doll named after her. Uh, create the highest, grandest vision possible of your life. And last one, Frida Kahlo. At the end of the day, we can endure much more than we think we can.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, they are all good, huh, Addie? Yeah. Which one do you like best? I think I like the second one. Second one. Addie picks the second one. Is that Maya Angelou, I think? I think so.

SPEAKER_02

She's awesome. You alone are enough. You have nothing to prove to anybody.

SPEAKER_03

Good job, Addie.

SPEAKER_02

There you go, Addie. I'm motivated and ready to go play with my Barbies. There you go. We love our Barbies. Heck yeah. Sweet. Well, thank you so much, best friends, and I hope you have a great rest of your day.

SPEAKER_03

You too, Chris. We love ya.

SPEAKER_02

Love ya. Bye.

SPEAKER_03

Bye.

Elks Riders Charities And Easter Egg Hunt

SPEAKER_02

I am so excited to have a best friend in studio with me. It's David Whitmore with the Show Low Elks Lodge and the Elks Riders. Good morning. Yes, good morning, best friend. Our uh comedy show, Chris Bennett Comedy and Alaberto's presents. Uh stand-up comedy at the Show Low Elks Lodge is happening this Saturday. Uh, show starts at 6 30 p.m. It is 21 and over. Doors, bar, and Alaberto's food truck open up at 5 p.m. It is open to the public. Just get your tickets at Chris Bennett Comedy.com. VIP tickets have been sold out. It's gonna be a lot of fun. Headliner, uh Eric Schwartz, who toured with Joe Coy, he's been on the Tonight Show Showtime. Sandra Rizer, who is uh she's 83 years young, comedian out of the valley. She was on America's Got Talent this year, got four yeses from all four judges. We even have a comedian that grew up in Winslow, um, Michael Densmore. He's gonna be coming up from the valley opening, and I'll be hosting. It's gonna be a lot of fun. And my favorite thing about doing the show at the Elks Lodge is uh my friends at the Elks Riders, uh, they take care of uh running IDs and uh making sure people, you know, tabletop or too minimum minimum and just uh helping uh keep security for the comedy show. Super excited for that. And uh one of the coolest things is we do a 50-50 raffle at these comedy shows at the Elks Lodge, and the uh 50-50 goes to benefit the Elks Riders charities. What are some of those charities and what are some of the uh things that that money will go to to help our community?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so what what we do as the Elks Riders is we raise money to benefit the children's charities within the Elks Lodge. Um so everything we do goes through the Elks Lodge, uh, but that's that um the money that we raise goes towards stuff like our big Easter event coming up uh on April 4th. Um, our backpacks for kids, clothe the child, um, kids Christmas, um, backpacks, all the different things that we do.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you guys do so many great things for the kids in our community. And the Easter egg hunt is coming up. And uh I asked them, hey, how many eggs do you guys put out? Because you put it outside the uh the elk slodge, right? And I was way low. I said, what, 500, 1,000? How many eggs go out there for the Easter egg hunt?

SPEAKER_01

Last year we did 5,500 eggs. This year we might do more.

SPEAKER_02

And and how long do those eggs last?

SPEAKER_01

Uh about 45 seconds. Once we say go, they just run out and they grab them all.

SPEAKER_02

And then you guys also uh so it's open to all the kids on the White Mountains. When is the Easter egg hunt?

SPEAKER_01

It's gonna be on April 4th. I believe it's gonna start around 10 or 11. I don't have the start time, um, but we'll we'll have that. We have some bicycles to give away, we'll have hot dogs for lunch, um, we have other other prizes. It's a great time. Bring your kids out. Everyone's welcome.

What The Elks Do And How To Join

SPEAKER_02

Make sure you check out their Facebook page for more information. It's the Sholo Elk Slodge 2090. Go ahead and follow them on Facebook so you can see all the great things they do in the community. And if you'd like to uh donate to help them help uh the kids in our community, go ahead and find them on Facebook. I am in studio today with my best friend David Whitmore with the Sholo Elks Lodge and Solo Elks Rider. We'll be having our comedy show uh there this Saturday in the bingo hall at 6 30. Doors bar and Alberto's food truck open up at 5. Get your tickets, general mission at Chris Bennett Comedy.com. I have people asking me all the time, uh David, they're not really familiar with with what the Elks are and what the Elks do. Give us just a quick description of who the Elks are and uh why it's such a great organization to be a part of.

SPEAKER_01

So the Elks is one of the it is the largest charitable organization in the United States. Um there are uh 2,000 Elks lodges throughout the U.S. Every single one of them concentrates on their communities, um, as well as we have state projects and national projects. Uh we're we're here to make people's lives better. You know, we we do a uh bunch of money in scholarships every year, we do uh food baskets, we do uh holiday events, um, just anything we can to help make uh people's lives better. We support our veterans, we support our kids, and we support our communities.

SPEAKER_02

And if people want to join the Elks and be part of the great things they do, and it's also just a great organization to hang out with some great people as well. How can people get more information and how can they join the Elks?

SPEAKER_01

So you can um either go online and look up on Elks.org. Um it is the national website, um, or you can come down to the Elks Lodge. Uh, we open it too uh Monday through Saturday. Uh you can come in, um, there's a doorbell, you can ring up front, you can talk to someone there. We'll be happy to let you know about it and get you an application if you're interested in joining. And I understand this month, uh every month, you always have uh Elk of the Month. Who is the Elk of the Month for March? Well, it'd be the guy that I have the honor of sitting in studio with this morning, Mr. Chris Bannon.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I get my own parking space.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, sir.

Call-Ins, Time Change, And Motorcycle Talk

SPEAKER_02

And uh on Taco Tuesday, I get some tacos, I think. Yeah, it's a lot of fun. Uh the Elks organization does so many great things in the White Mountains. Also, they have you know their own clubhouse as well for Elks members to hang out, and it's just uh a really cool thing. So either stop by the Elks uh or their website for more information, or when you come to the comedy show, if you want some information, go ahead and ask us there and we'll give you a lot of it. I'll be there.

SPEAKER_01

I'm not hard to miss. You can find me, we'll talk to you, and then just so everyone knows, too, we are a kid-friendly place. So we do have a kid's room. Families can come in, bring their kids, and have a good time. Woo!

SPEAKER_04

And that's Bob Lodge!

SPEAKER_02

So! Yay! Yay yay! It's Paul from Beaumont, everyone's favorite redneck from Beaumont, Texas. I have David Whitmore with the Sholo Elks Lodge and the Sholo Elks Riders. Say hi.

SPEAKER_01

Good morning.

SPEAKER_02

Hey, what's up, buddy?

unknown

Good.

SPEAKER_01

How are you doing? Doing alright, brother. Good to hear from you.

SPEAKER_02

Have uh have you have you ever had a motorcycle, Paul? Yeah, I've had two. Really? What type? I had a bad boy and a night ride. Ooh. I've had a moped before, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

There you go. I cruised one in college, dude.

SPEAKER_02

Nice. What uh what type of motorcycle do you have?

SPEAKER_01

I have a Honda BTX 1300 and a Yamaha Stradiliner 1900.

SPEAKER_02

Would you would you ever consider giving me a ride?

SPEAKER_01

Hey, we can figure it out. Oh, really?

SPEAKER_02

Uh anything. In the brochinis. In the brokenies. I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

As long as he sits backwards.

SPEAKER_02

Uh what's uh new, uh Paul? Anything juicy happened this weekend? Man, that time change happened. I gotta get used to it. Yeah, that stinks you out. We're now uh we're now on Pacific Standard Time because we don't change our clocks in Arizona. We say go on and get to the time change. So uh we would. So we're now two hours behind you, Paul. Sweet. Um uh what else is going on? Nothing, nothing juicy? No, alright. It's hard. Well, it is motivational Monday, Paul. Before we let you go, how about uh you give us a motivational quote from Paul from Beaumont?

Trivia Giveaway And Ticket Winner

SPEAKER_04

Uh don't fall for this Tom uh chain scale.

SPEAKER_02

Awesome. Well, sweet Paul, thanks for calling in, best friend. And uh hopefully we'll uh uh talk to you tomorrow. Alrighty, boy. We'll talk to y'all later. You have a great day. Be safe. You too. Bye you. Have a good one. Good morning. It's the morning brew with Chris, you are first caller. Who's this?

SPEAKER_04

Hey, my friend, how's it going?

SPEAKER_02

Virgil calling to win two tickets. Holy moly, what made you decide to call in today, Virgil?

SPEAKER_04

I heard you crying on radio. I was.

SPEAKER_02

You have a chance to win two tickets, compliments of Alberto's Comfort Fit dentures and Mountain Mobile Autoglass and Tint. Today is Barbie Day. We could do Barbie Day trivia or false teeth day trivia. Which one do you want to uh play?

SPEAKER_04

I never played with a Barbie, so let's go with the teeth.

SPEAKER_02

The teeth? Do you have all your teeth? No. No, there do you have dentures? No. No, you should get some on False Teeth Day. Alright, here we uh go, Virgil. You just have to get two right. You get three wrong, you're gone. David Whitmore at the Elks Lodge is gonna be your lifeline. Here we go. This is called Tooth or Truth. Uh George Washington actually had wooden teeth. Is that true or false? You think it's true? It's actually false. Uh his dentures were made of ivory, metal, and animal teeth. Oh goodness. Alright, you got one wrong, and it's okay, you're still in it. Uh, your teeth are the only part of your body that cannot heal themselves. Is that true or false? Uh true. There we go. He's got one right. He just gotta get one more right, and these tickets are his. The average person produces enough saliva in a lifetime to fill two swimming pools. True or false?

SPEAKER_04

Well, how tall are they?

Final Plugs And How To Get Involved

SPEAKER_02

How tall? Well, it's the average person. So, whatever the average person is. Uh, false. You think false? It is true. Okay, gosh, dig it. He got he got one, he got one more wrong. So this next one, if you get it wrong, you're gone. If you get it right, you win, uh, you win the tickets. Here we go. Last question. Snails have more teeth than sharks. True or false. You can use your lifeline, David Whitmore from the Elks Lodge. You say false? Yes. Are you sure, David? What's your suggestion to him?

SPEAKER_01

You know, I I know sharks have some big old teeth. I don't know much about snails, though. Yeah, it sounds like a trick question. It does, but they they might have a bunch of little teeth in there.

SPEAKER_02

They might have, okay. So they might, he's he's right. They might have a bunch of little teeth. Do you still want to go with that? It's false. Snails have more teeth than sharks. You do, you want to go false. Final answer. Yes. Virgil! I was leading you in the right direction. Snails do have more teeth than sharks, but they're very microscopic. But Virgil, listen, I'm gonna give you the tickets anyways. How's that sound?

SPEAKER_04

All right, cool.

SPEAKER_02

Cool. Heck yeah, best friend. Well, you just got hooked up with uh two tickets to our comedy show this Saturday at the Elks Lodge. Doors bar, Alaperto's food truck open up at five, and the show starts at 6 30 p.m. It's 21 and over. Get your tickets at Chris Bennettcomedy.com. Virgil, what station hooked you up? You know it. All right, it's time for me to let my best friend David Whitmore out. Uh, he is with the Sholo Elk Slodge. For more information about the Elk Slodge and the great things they do and the great charities, if you want to get involved, visit them uh on Facebook, SHOLO Elk Slodge 2019. Right? Perfect. And uh don't forget they also have their big Easter uh egg hunt coming up in April, April 4th. April 4th, yes. April 4th, and uh a lot of other great things uh helping our community. So if you want to reach out to the Elks Lodge on uh how you can maybe help them, help others, uh you can uh reach them on Facebook or also uh the website uh elks.org and then look for ShoL Elks Lodge 2090. Yes, sir. And uh you'll see David and I both at the Show Elks Lodge on Saturday for our comedy show, Alaberto's Presents, stand-up comedy at the Elks Lodge. Show starts at 6:30. Doors, Alabos food truck and bar open up at 5. It's 21 and over. VIP tickets sold out, but general mission tickets still available at Chris Bennettcomedy.com. SPEAKER_01

Yes, sir. Thanks for having me. Congratulations for being elk of the month, and uh, we look forward to all the good stuff we're gonna do. Thank you for everything, brother.

SPEAKER_02

All right, we'll be right back.
