It’s Relationship Advice Thursday on The Morning Brew with Chris Bennett and Best Friends, and today’s show brings some real-life relationship dilemmas that will have you thinking… what would YOU do?
We kick things off with Jineane Ford from Majik 101.7 and iTalk 106.7 as we break down a tough situation: one guy just got back from a trip to Greece and realized he doesn’t see a future with his girlfriend—but her graduation is in two days. Do you break up now and risk ruining a major life moment, or wait and pretend everything is fine? We get into the real question of timing, honesty, and doing the right thing.
Then we bring in listener Desiree from Show Low, who scores Renaissance Festival tickets and helps tackle another relationship question: how do you tell your partner you want them to get in better shape… without hurting their feelings? It turns into a real conversation about attraction, discipline, and communication.
We also mix in some laughs with Boo or Cool with Dave Ramsey from Show Low and wrap things up with a Country News Minute.
If you love real relationship talk, fun callers, and a morning show that keeps it honest and entertaining, hit play, share with a friend, and follow the podcast so you never miss an episode.

Civic Duty Pep Talk Preview
SPEAKER_00From the Horn Auto Center Studios, Chris Bennett and the morning brew. Janine, you there? Yes, I am.
SPEAKER_01Hi Hi there, Chris, and I have a guest, Steve Carval's back with me this morning. Oh, Steve, good morning, best friend.
SPEAKER_00How are you doing?
SPEAKER_04Good morning, Chris. How are you doing today, sir?
SPEAKER_00Doing great. You guys uh must be uh getting some juicy stuff ready for your voice of the mountain show on iTalk 1067 tonight.
SPEAKER_01Yes, tonight at 5 o'clock. Yeah, we're gonna be talking about being a good citizen and showing up, you know, for things like jury duty and and saying yes to those things because we all need to be active and show up to vote and do all of our good deeds, right, Steve? That's right.
SPEAKER_04We just kind of neglect uh a lot of our duties as citizens. We take it for granted that somebody else is gonna do it, and that's gotta stop. I mean, we got a lot of good people out there who are capable of doing a lot of things to help change the way that our society is going. And you know, but you gotta get up and and do the work.
SPEAKER_01Participate. So we're gonna do a little pep talk tonight at five o'clock.
Etsy Naming Dream Goes Sideways
SPEAKER_00Yeah, get people out, yeah, do your civic duty and vote and all that stuff. And Janine, right before we went live, uh, I tuned into uh your off-air mic and I heard you say something about my precious oh, I had a dream like well, I've been doing this artwork and it's multimedia kind of artwork, and I've just been having fun with it, and I want to I'm gonna do an Etsy page, and it's like, oh, come up with you, what's your business, what's your name?
SPEAKER_01And I kept trying to come up with different kinds of names, layered obsession, whatever, artwork or whatever. And then in my dream, Schmeagel's there all night from Lord of the Rings. My precious, my precious. And I'm like, no, I'm not calling it my precious, and I'm having an argument with him in my dream. Just, yeah, it was a weird deal.
SPEAKER_00That is a weird, weird dream. My wife helps me out. My wife sees Schmeagle every morning when I wake up uh and go to the bathroom. There you go. There you go. Uh well, we have two relationship advice experts for relationship advice. Will you two help me with some relationship advice today? Yes. Absolutely.
SPEAKER_04With seven marriages behind me, I've got lots of evidence.
SPEAKER_00Oh, heck yeah. You got me beat.
Break Up Before Graduation Question
unknownOkay, here we go.
SPEAKER_00It is now time for relationship advice. And today's relationship advice expert is Janine Ford and Steve Carball over there at Magic1017 and ITalk 1067. You two ready? Yeah. We stay that way. All right.
SPEAKER_01Exactly.
SPEAKER_00Here we go. I'm a 32-year-old guy, and I've been dating my girlfriend for about a year. She's 25. We just got back from a trip to Greece, and during the trip I realized I don't see a long-term future with her. The problem is the timing. Her graduation is in two days, and she invited me to come. Her whole family will be there, and I'd be meeting them for the first time. She really loves me and I know how important this moment is for her. Part of me feels like breaking up now would completely ruin her big day. But if I wait, I'd be going to the graduation, meeting her family, smiling for photos, and pretending everything is fine when I already know how I feel. I care about her and I don't want to hurt her more than I have to, but I also don't want to be fake. So am I the jerk if I break up with her before graduation, or should I wait until after? Steve, what's your advice?
SPEAKER_04Well, since he's already wasted a third of his life already, why not wait a couple more days, take advantage of her some more over the next couple days, and after the big day, then you go ahead, you've met her family, got everybody else. Who knows? She might like her sister or her cousin. Then go on, you know? I would try to do something like that. And then just wait till the week after and go, look, this is just working out for us. Let's just go on.
SPEAKER_01All right, Steve. I don't know if I love some of Steve's angles though. But I but I am in agreement that just, you know what? He just did a trip to Greece with her and all this kind of stuff, and and he just made this decision. She's got all these plans. That is that it's so funny about the yeah, she you might like her cousin. Steve!
unknownThat's no.
SPEAKER_04Hey, you gotta go. You gotta move, gotta move.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, just fake it a little longer. It's a couple days. You just need to do it, Grin and Barrett, because uh you care about her enough as a human, you know. She's got her let her have a great time those days, and then give it, you know, give it a week or so after that, and then you know, break it off or whatever you want to do. You know, I just think he's yeah, he doesn't need to break it off this fast. That's that's weird. He just went to Greece, he's done all this other stuff with her. Just fake it for a little longer and then go forward with what you want to do.
SPEAKER_04I think he found one of those Greek guys that he really liked over there. There you go. There you go. You just can't do this heddle thing here. There you can't go.
SPEAKER_01Maybe that's it.
SPEAKER_00Maybe that's the ticket. There he is. You just never know. That's awesome. So I agree with you. I think he should wait till after the uh the graduation. But what about maybe him just pretending he's sick and uh just doesn't go to the graduation, so with that he's not in all the pictures and that type of thing.
SPEAKER_01Well, you can uh conveniently uh s slide yourself over to less pictures a lot of the time, you know what I mean? Just kinda through that. Just kinda, yeah. Oh, I gotta go to the bathroom and then you just go over here and not be, yeah, you don't like as many. Okay. Yeah, just don't be in as many pictures as you normally would be in, but be there. I would still be there for her. You know, just go through it. All of us have had to fake it for a while when we're still not happy, like when we're getting out of a marriage and you're like, oh my god, I gotta go through this again. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Thanksgiving, Christmas. Yeah. All right, so uh the relationship advice for you, stick it out and uh, you know, see if maybe the cousins are interested in hookup. Great relationship advice, best friends. I hope you guys have a great day and make sure you guys all tune in to the voice of the mountain on iTalk 1067 tonight from five to six.
SPEAKER_01Awesome, Chris. Thank you.
SPEAKER_00All right, bye.
SPEAKER_01Bye-bye.
SPEAKER_00Good morning. It's the morning brew with Chris. Who's this? This is Desiree. Desiree, where are you from, Desiree?
SPEAKER_02Sholo.
SPEAKER_00Sholo, all right, calling a win. My last three tickets to the Arizona Renaissance Festival. The Renaissance Festival only has two more weekends left. They're$36. But Desiree, you're gonna win three just by being my bonus relationship advice expert. Do you feel like you're qualified to give relationship advice?
SPEAKER_02I think I am.
SPEAKER_00What makes you qualified?
SPEAKER_02Um, because I'm in a relationship.
SPEAKER_00Oh, perfect. There you go. How long have you been in a relationship?
SPEAKER_0218 years.
SPEAKER_00Oh, there you go. Oh, she is an expert. All right, I'll read the story, and when we come back, we'll get your advice for this person. Here we go. I'm a 26-year-old female, and I've been with my boyfriend, 25-year-old male, for about six and a half years. I'm really into fitness, and I'm a personal trainer, and I'm at the gym all the time. My boyfriend, not so much. He works hard driving a dump truck, but his main hobby is gaming. Here's the thing, he's actually told me before that he doesn't love how he looks and wants to get in better shape. I've tried helping him with workouts, meal plans, and motivation, all of it, but nothing ever sticks. And honestly, I know he could put on muscle pretty easily if he just stayed consistent. I still think he looks great and I love him, but I guess part of me wants that strong guy energy and maybe even more discipline. I just know how to bring it up. I just don't know how to bring it up without sounding like, hey, I don't like how you look. So am I wrong for wanting him to change and muscle up, or is there a better way for me to bring it up to him? What's your advice?
SPEAKER_02I think you should definitely push him to go to the gym. I'm not a big gamer fan at all. And if he's mentioned that he wants to change, then I think he should definitely get away from the gaming and maybe hit the gym with her as a partner. Um yeah, she's not wrong.
SPEAKER_00And how would you bring it up to him?
SPEAKER_02I would say I need a partner in the gym. I don't want to go alone. Maybe you can come with me a couple days a week.
SPEAKER_00Ooh, that's smooth. Yeah, and that doesn't make that's not putting anything on him, like saying, hey, you're not muscly enough, you jerk. Right. Right. Awesome. All right. So uh Desiree from Sho Low's advice, bring it up to him. Just say you need a workout partner and you'd love to spend some time with him at the gym. Ding ding ding. Great relationship advice, Desiree, and congratulations! You just won our last three tickets to the Arizona Renaissance Festival. What station hooked you up?
SPEAKER_02Awesome. Q Country 925.
Boo Or Cool Dad Jokes
SPEAKER_00You know it. All right, today is Let's Laugh Day. So I have my friend Dave Ramsey on the phone for some boo or cool Let's Laugh edition. How are you doing today?
SPEAKER_03Okay, I'm sitting outside right now with the doggies.
SPEAKER_00Nice. How are the doggies treating you?
SPEAKER_03Being buttheads as always.
SPEAKER_00Well, so Dave, for Let's Laugh Day, I found some old jokes. Uh, and you tell me these are like old classic one-liners off the internet. You tell me if they are boo or cool. You ready? I'm ready. All right. I told my wife she needed to embrace her mistakes. So she gave me a hug. That's a good one. Okay, there we go. All right. Uh I tried to start a hot air balloon business, but it never really took off. Boo. Boo. Okay, alright. Uh, why don't oysters donate uh why don't oysters donate to charity? Because they're shellfish.
SPEAKER_03Matt had to give that a half a boo and a half a cool.
SPEAKER_00Okay, half a boo, half a cool. Alright. Um, why did the golfer bring two pairs of pants in case he got a hole in one?
SPEAKER_03That's a good one. Cool.
SPEAKER_00Cool. Alright, and last one. Why did the coffee file a police report? It got mugged. That's cool. There we go. Heck yeah! Some good jokes on this Let's Laugh Day. I hope you have a great rest of your day, Dave, and thanks for having fun with us.
SPEAKER_03I've got a sign on my wall in the house that says, All men are idiots, and I married the king. But you live by yourself. Karina put that up when we were together.
Country News Minute Highlights
SPEAKER_00Oh. Well, we love you so much, best friend. I hope you have a great day, and uh, we'll talk to you soon. Alright, take care, buddy. All right, see you buddy. Bye. Bye. It is now time for Chris's country news minute, and we're gonna start uh with some news with some Brad Paisley and his wife, Kimberly, as they just celebrated 23 years of marriage, or at least they think it's 23. They joke that math is not their strong suit, just like me, uh, as they celebrated their 23rd anniversary with the pizza date, watching the Oscars earlier this week. And that's relationship goals right there. Sounds good. Congratulations to them on 23 years to Brad Paisley and Kimberly Paisley. Uh, meanwhile, Riley Green had a wild moment on stage in Australia down under after a fan threw their phone at him and it actually hit him near his ear and he needed five stitches. But he stayed tough, finished the show, and uh had the fan escorted out. Get him out of here. And uh some good news from Dolly Parton, who's been having some health issues this year, but she says she's taking care of her health and doing better than ever after a tough year, reminding everyone she's still got that Dolly spirit. I'm Chris Bennett, and that was my country news minute.
