Billy Currington Caller Trivia Win
SPEAKER_01Oh goodness gross Hello best friends. It's me, Chris Bennett, and coming up today, we have a listener who wins some Billy Currington tickets. We talk about an incredible local nonprofit helping feed kids right here in the White Mountains. Share some good news and things get a little weird with superheroes. It's the morning brew. You are first caller. Who's this? It's Casey. Casey. Casey, where are you from? I'm from Taylor. Casey from Taylor. Calling to win some Billy Currington tickets. You love Billy Currington? I do. What's your favorite Billy Currington song? Oh, God is great. Here is good. People are crazy. Ah, I love that song. That's my favorite song. And I always like dream of that happening to me. That I'll just like look in the obituary and it turns out he was a millionaire and he leaves his fortune to some dude he barely knew me. That would be fun, huh? Yeah. Heck yeah. Uh, we're gonna play a fun game on this superhero. Today's national superhero day. Uh, but first it's also talk about something good Tuesday. Do you have something good to talk about or something you're grateful for, Casey? Absolutely. What's that?
SPEAKER_02I'm just thankful to you know be working and just honoring the Lord and being up on this mountain with good people.
SPEAKER_01Heck yeah. I love it. It is National Superhero Day, so we're gonna play, do some superhero trivia. Do you know a lot about superheroes? Uh, not so much, but I'm gonna give it a shot. Oh, goodness gracious. Uh, do you even do you have a favorite superhero? Um, probably Spider-Man, because my son loves him so much. Oh, okay. All right, there we go. Uh, we'll do some multiple choice trivia. I'll be your lifeline. You just need to get uh, let's do you get two right, you win, three wrong, you're gone. You don't even have to get uh passing grade. Uh, what is Spider-Man's real name? Is it Peter Parker? Clark Kent. Peter Parker. Oh, Peter Parker. Oh, there you go. I was worried. I was worried. All right, you're pulling it up. Alright. Let's see. What is Batman's real name? Do you need multiple choice for that? What is it? Oh, there we go! Heck yes! I was so worried. You acted like you knew nothing about uh superheroes, but you seem to do pretty well. You know Superman or you know Spider-Man and you know Batman. Those are the main two. Yeah. If you had a superpower, what would your superpower be? Um, probably invisibility. Oh, nice. Uh why why do you want to be invisible?
SPEAKER_02Well, because you know, I'm not really a people person that much, so you know, invisibility would be great. I wouldn't have to run into people. I don't want to.
3e Snacks Feeds Kids Weekends
SPEAKER_01Oh, there you go. Sweet. Well, awesome. Congratulations. You just won two tickets to see Billy Currington in concert Saturday, May 9th in Flagstaff at the Pepsi Amphitheater. What station hooked you up? Uh Q Country 925. You know it. It is Taco Bout Something Good Tuesday, and I am so honored to have a best friend on, Kaylee Willis with 3e Snacks. Kaylee, good morning, best friend.
SPEAKER_04Good morning.
SPEAKER_01Why don't you tell us about 3e Snacks, how you guys got started, and what you guys do uh for the community.
SPEAKER_04For sure. Well, we started three snacks um coming up on 10 years ago. Um, we found out that there was kids that were coming to school on Monday that didn't have enough food over the weekend. And so we kind of figured we could help that, you know, on a small scale, just our family, and our amazing community stepped in and they just took it. So now um we deliver 290 bags every weekend. Um we deliver to the local schools here in Snowflake and Taylor, and we go to Concho and Hebrew and Overgar. And it's just it's just amazing to see our community come together and sustain the program every week. We've never missed a week.
SPEAKER_01When you and I were talking, things were looking a a little low, so we can really uh use some help to uh to to stock you up with more food to help these kids out.
SPEAKER_04Absolutely. It's the food comes in and then the food leaves. And it's just an ongoing process, and it's just um such a blessing to see those those shelves fill up and then and then empty and get to kids that need it.
SPEAKER_01We are on the phone with Kaylee Willis with three e Snacks on this talk about something good Tuesday, an amazing nonprofit here in the White Mountains, and they're the nonprofit that uh the Morning Brew has teamed up with for our Morning Brew Anniversary Bash 6th Anniversary Listener Appreciation Party. We have that huge cornhole tournament going on, Kaylee, and it's$25 to enter. And 50% of the proceeds go straight to you guys, 3e snacks to to help purchase food for kids in the White Mountains that don't have it on the weekends. And you also help uh the kids in the summertime as well, as much as you can, right?
SPEAKER_04Yep, as much as we can. Um, we try to reach them. That's a little more difficult, but we definitely do it.
SPEAKER_01Brew crew, let's help 3e snacks out. You can uh if you're not able to uh sign up for the Cornhole Tournament, if you're not able to make our anniversary bash, go to their Facebook page, facebook.com backslash three e snacks. There's a uh a Venmo link where you could Venmo them some money. Also, if you want to donate items at the anniversary bash on the 16th, we'll have uh, you know, you'll be able to donate money. And then we'll also have a box where you can uh donate items uh that they can use to get to the kids. And and some of the items that you guys need are canned soups, macaroni cheese, ramen noodles. What other type of things uh can people donate?
SPEAKER_04You know, anything non-perishable that's easy access for the kids. We found that some of these children don't have access to like microwave, um maybe some things like that. So we kind of try to get to the things that are easier to prepare. But of course we do like to add those, you know, mac and cheese and the soup, the things that can last a little longer, but also, you know, the grab and go things, some granola bars, um applesauce packets, um crackers, you know, things like that that are you know an easy grab and go, but there's not very many donations we would turn down.
Good News Stories With Janine
SPEAKER_01So right. Everyone, mark your calendars for May 16th for our anniversary bash brought to you by Horn Auto Center. It's at the house. Come on out, sign up for the Cornhole Tournament. It's$25 center, 50% of that goes to 3E snacks. And uh, if you win, it's uh uh it's a blind draw, so you don't even need a teammate. It's double elimination. Who doesn't uh love second chances? And the winning team will win a thousand dollars, so five hundred dollars a person and two pairs of tickets to see Kenny Chesney live at the sphere in Las Vegas. So go to Chris Bennettcomedy.com. Janine, you there? Yes, I am. Yes, I am. Heck yeah, happy talk about something good Tuesday. Happy Tuesday. You want to share some good news?
SPEAKER_03Why not? We need it. We all need to hear good news.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely. I'll go first. Uh here's uh I have a couple stories for you. Uh my first one is about a 96-year-old grandma who went viral because she's out gardening, but not by herself with the help of her 150-pound dog. Uh, she literally points to where she wants flowers planted, and then her giant Newfoundland Newfoundland named Chewy just starts digging the hole for her. That is awesome. Yeah, yeah. The dog probably loves it. Like, let's go gardening. And uh she drops the flowers in, pats it down, and boom, talk about teamwork. Uh, there's a video of the two working together, it's got over 11 million views, and people are loving it. Not just not just because it's cute, because you can tell that uh these two definitely have a special best friend bond. Oh, I love it. So, yeah, it's uh really cool, and the the dog uh is a little bit more helpful than the grandkids, she says.
SPEAKER_03Exactly. Then the grandkids pull them out, yeah, throw them in the pool, yeah.
SPEAKER_01And uh then I got one more good news story for you. Uh the number one draft pick in the NFL, Fernando Mendoza, who was drafted by the Las Vegas uh Raiders, he just pledged$500,000 to fight MS, honoring his mom who has MS, and he's been fundraising for years already, so this isn't just for headlines, it's part of who he is.
SPEAKER_03So that is so awesome.
SPEAKER_01Pretty cool. Those are my good news stories on this talk about something good Tuesday. All right, Janine, I'm ready for your good news today.
SPEAKER_03Okay, yeah, and since you stole all the really good ones, I'm just kidding. This is this is a good one too. It's a rooster. A lot of us chicken lovers, you know. Clint doesn't allow me to have chickens. No. I don't have chickens, no. I get eggs, my eggs from other people, but I do like chickens. I think they're smart. Well, they're not smart. Let's just get that straight. But it's smart to have them. Okay, here's how a rooster made a really big dent, okay, in something. A simple rooster worth about$70 at auction turned into a powerful act of generosity in Alabama. The owner was from a local family that had a critically ill baby. So instead of buying it for the$70 it was worth, buyers repeatedly re-donated it. The guy was trying to raise money for his critically ill baby, and they kept redo re-donating it and giving it back and back and back. And that brought the price of the sale to over$5,300 in a matter of minutes, and then it just kept going. So I don't have a final count, but that is so cool. An auction where the yeah, the rooster just kept over and over and over again. So that's a super, super sweet little story, you know. And then there's one more the world's oldest nun. Guess how old she is?
SPEAKER_01Uh 100.
SPEAKER_03113. What in the world? Sister Frances Domenici Princeella. She's Italian. Obviously, I can't pronounce her last name. She's from New York. Sister Frances has been a nun for more than 90 years. 113 years old, and she looks good.
SPEAKER_01Crazy, crazy.
SPEAKER_03Crazy. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Those are some good news stories. I love the story about the rooster cockadoodle doing something good.
SPEAKER_03Okay. I knew you'd be there with that one. There you go. Perfect.
First Friday Food Trucks And Art
SPEAKER_01Well, great. Awesome. Thanks so much for sharing some good news with us today on this talk about something good Tuesday, best friend. You too, Chris. Love you. Love you. On the phone, we have our friend Stefan We know with some good news to talk about today. Uh, Stefan, there's something exciting happening Friday at the White Mount are the Art Alliance of the White Mountains. What's happening?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's First Friday food trucks. Um, the Arts Alliance up here on Penrod has partnered up with the city of Shallow for the Friday food truck events. And every first Friday we're hosting it here at the Arts Alliance building.
SPEAKER_01Nice. And uh the event goes from 4 to 7 p.m. Uh, how many food trucks are gonna be there and uh what type of food trucks will be there?
SPEAKER_00You know, it varies every week on the number of food trucks we get out, or every week every month, the number of food trucks we get out there. We've had taco trucks out there, we've had kettle corn, we've had specialty drinks, uh, we've had uh uh beef and barbecue. So it it varies it varies every month as uh people vary where they're going at. Uh we're just excited to off the space and invite even more food trucks to come out. We had over 80 people come out last month for the very first one and expecting that to grow all summer long.
SPEAKER_01Nice. And uh it uh I understand you know people will be able to go in, check out the amazing art at the Arts Alliance of the White Mountain. And also, is there gonna be some live music for people to enjoy?
SPEAKER_00So we do have a bus person joining us, and they'll be playing some live music while we're out there. And yeah, we open up the arts center so people can learn more about what we offer here for the arts. You know, here are the members, it's a member-run organization. Uh, we really want to focus on helping people explore the arts as their creative outlet. And that goes from the visual arts of painting and drawings to the performing arts of dance and music, as well as the writing arts. We have a great writing group that live up here in the White Mountains. So we invite everybody to come by, check it out, learn about our classes, uh, our art gallery spaces and events that we host here at the Arts Alliance.
