SPEAKER_01

Oh, separating cows.

SPEAKER_00

You gotta keep them separated.

Why Cowboys Separate Cattle

SPEAKER_00

What uh to explain that to me, why do you have to separate cows? I'm not a cowboy, so I don't know that.

SPEAKER_01

These other people's cows come on our place too, and their cows go on their place, and these cows go on our place too. We have to separate them.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, okay, and then uh basically get all the cows back to to where they need to be?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, to give back to the owners.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, nice, okay. Dang, that sounds tough. And so now all the cows are separated and you're back on the ranch?

SPEAKER_01

No, they bought me a cell phone.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, heck, so you're calling me from like the middle of the mountains right now?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Ooh, hoo hoo!

SPEAKER_00

And then you have a bunch of uh the cowboys and cowgirls with you, or are you all by yourself on the range?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, we all work together.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, that's good. Well, awesome. Well, sweet. Uh, what can I do you for today?

Salute To Veterans And Flag Day

SPEAKER_01

Oh, since you said it was for the veterans, ladies, I didn't know about that. And here they are working.

SPEAKER_00

Heck yeah, yeah. You have uh you have a lot of lady veterans that uh work with you and just a lot of veterans. You're a veteran. I'm so grateful to all our veterans and active uh duty military that have served this uh great country we live in, right? Yeah. Heck yeah. And did you know Sunday is Flag Day?

SPEAKER_01

Uh no, I didn't even keep up with the calendar.

SPEAKER_00

SPEAKER_01

Flag Day Fun Fact Game

SPEAKER_00

It is now time for fun fact or fake fact, and we are playing it with Virgil the cowboy, who's calling us from the mountains. He's separating cows. All right, Virgil, tell me it's is this a fun fact or a fake fact in honor of Flag Day, which is Sunday. Here we go. The largest American flag ever flown weighed over a ton. Fun fact or fake fact?

SPEAKER_01

Oh fact.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, it's a uh several giant ceremonial flags have weighed thousands of pounds and they require hundreds of people to carry them. Um, how about this? Fun fact or fake fact? The flag on the moon is still waving today. Uh nope. No, fake fact. Yeah, there's no wind on the moon, and several lunar flags are believed to have been knocked over by rocket exhaust during departure. All right, and last one, man, you are on fire, buddy. Here we go. Uh, there is flag day became an official national observance because of a Wisconsin teacher. Fun fact or fake fact? Uh yeah, true. True. There you go, Virgil, heck yeah, that fresh mountaineer is doing you some good. Yeah, Bernard uh Sigrand, a school teacher in Wisconsin, spent decades promoting a National Flag Day celebration before it became official. Heck yeah. So happy Flag Day this Sunday. And Virgil, uh, what song would you like to hear today? Uh, the one I said, sand in my boots. Sand in my boots, Morgan Wallen. You got it, buddy. I hope you have a great day. Be safe out there on the range and separating those cows.

SPEAKER_01

To all the lady brethrons up there.

SPEAKER_00

So, yeah, um, you've got uh Heavenly Vendor Village in Kids Zone, and that's going on today, 10 to 3 uh at the Greer Community Center. You've got silent auctions, you've got all kinds of stuff. Noon to three, music by James T. Okay. And then they have an opening ceremony, Main Street and follow follow up in front of Molly Butler's tonight at four. Then tomorrow, that's the big thing. Saturday, okay, 7 a.m. to five uh 7 a.m. is the 5K family run. There we go. So you got a 5k family run uh up by the lakes, okay? And it's going to start at it doesn't have it here, on the reservation that the I mean the lakes up there. The that's really good. I'm just messing this up.

SPEAKER_00

No worries, yeah. Okay. I think at the river reservoir.

SPEAKER_02

Thank you, River Reservoir. That's perfect. Okay, there you go. Then they're and they're gonna have a parade, okay? There's a parade at 10 o'clock, okay? So you got the parade, you've got all kinds of things. It's Greer Days this weekend, it's gonna be beautiful up there.

SPEAKER_00

Awesome. Uh nothing like small town America.

SPEAKER_02

Love Greer.

SPEAKER_00

Greer days, heck yes. Are you guys camping?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, we're gonna be camping and we're gonna be there at going in and out of greer, so that's gonna be a lot of fun. And we've got the horses, we're gonna go on a ride, all kinds of stuff. Nice.

SPEAKER_00

Well, sounds fun. Greer days today and tomorrow. Have fun,

Nerd News On Fire Whirls

SPEAKER_00

everyone. It is now time for nerd news with Janine. What nerd news do you have for us today?

SPEAKER_02

I have a cool story. This is neat. And uh, before I say this, uh just a reminder, everybody, we are in stage one fire restrictions. I'm talking about fire, but it's a discovery using fire. Researchers have discovered that fire tornadoes are a faster and cleaner way to eliminate oil spills. So, you know, when they get a big old hideous oil spill in the water, they're so scary. Uh, they also are calling them fire whirls, and they burn oil up to 40% faster and reduce soot emissions by 40%. The technique works by pulling in a lot more oxygen to create a more efficient burn, and the result is it leaves less residue behind, less smoke, everything. Scientists say the approach is going to eventually help protect coastlines during major oil spills. So that was a cool one. I like that. And here's one more thing, okay? Pokemon, Pokemon Go players may have unknowingly contributed data used to develop advanced navigation systems that are now tied to military drone technology. Yeah, the system uses billions of scans to create 3D maps and can be accessed through GPS. The company denies directly using Pokemon Go data for military purposes, but a bunch of people are saying, yeah, they did. So it's kind of interesting.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, they took uh Pikachu.

SPEAKER_02

Pikachu. Yeah, exactly, exactly.

Pokemon Go Data And Drones

SPEAKER_00

All right, Janine, it is now time for fun fact or fake fact. You have your granddaughter Addy there. Yes. You two can go head to head. Hello, Addy. Today is Superman Day. So we are going to do fun fact or fake fact, Superman edition. You two ready?

SPEAKER_02

Yes. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Alright, fun fact or fake fact. Superman originally couldn't fly.

SPEAKER_02

Hmm, I think that's fake fact.

SPEAKER_00

Fake fact? What about you, Janine?

SPEAKER_02

I'll say it's true.

SPEAKER_00

It is true. Janine is right. The first com in the first comic, Superman could only leap an eighth of a mile. Oh. That's where that's where the famous phrase he's able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, and then later flying was added because it looked cooler in the cartoons. Ooh. Uh, how about uh

Superman Day Fun Fact Battle

SPEAKER_00

Superman's weakness was almost changed from kryptonite to peanut butter? No. You'd think that's fake facts? Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that one sounds fake to me, too. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that would be interesting if he was allergic to uh peanut butter jelly sandwiches. Uh how about uh it was fake, yeah. It was fake, yeah. You're right, Addie. Good job. Good job, Addy. Way to go. Uh, Superman once fought Muhammad Ali in a boxing match. No, you think that's no?

SPEAKER_02

I don't think so.

SPEAKER_00

No, it's true. That's a fun fact. In a 1978 comic book, Superman boxed Muhammad Ali to determine who would represent Earth against an alien champion.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, interesting.

SPEAKER_00

And Ali actually knocks Superman out because the fight took place under a red sun that weakens Superman's power.

SPEAKER_02

No.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. How about this? Superman's creators uh sold him for $130.

SPEAKER_02

Hmm. I'm gonna say that's false. $130.

SPEAKER_00

I know, right? No, no, that is true. That's a fun fact.

SPEAKER_02

Just $130. Oh my god. And they made a fortune after that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he's now worth billions of dollars, making it one of the worst business deals of all time. Of all time. Wow. And uh last question Superman once had a pet dog with superpowers.

SPEAKER_02

Oh. They made a movie about that, so yeah.

SPEAKER_00

There you go. Addie known. I didn't know.

SPEAKER_02

Addie.

SPEAKER_00

That's a fun fact. Uh, yeah, his uh the dog was named. Do you know the name of the dog? No, I forgot it. It was crypto. Ooh, yeah. Interesting.

SPEAKER_02

Good job, Addie. I didn't know that.

SPEAKER_00

Good job. Well, that was fun fact or fake fact, Superman Edition. Awesome. I hope you guys have a great day.

SPEAKER_02

Chris, you two, and have an awesome weekend.

SPEAKER_00

Thanks, have fun and greer. Bye bye.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, bye bye. Bye.
