The Solo Kesha Concert Debate
SPEAKER_02Wilmington, North Carolina. And I decided to call you this morning because, Ryan, you said you had a very interesting question for our listeners this morning. What's your question?
SPEAKER_01Here's a good dating myself decision I have to make, and I would love it if uh Facebook Live and uh everybody would weigh in. Okay. Um so my friends make fun of me. One of my guilty pleasures is the uh music artist Kesha. Oh, okay, yeah. Uh and I'm I'm not a bit embarrassed, I think she's really talented. And I know this is a country station, but she does have some good country songs. She even did a duet with Dolly Parton, so check that out. Oh, really? Um yeah, and she's playing in Charlotte, which is a three and a half hour drive for me in a couple of weeks. Do I, as a mid-40s single man, go by myself, drive three and a half hours to a Kesha concert by myself. Should I take myself on a date to Kesha? Or is that creepy? Am I the creepy alone guy at a Kesha concert?
SPEAKER_02Man, that is a good question, a tough question. Because one, you go, you could look like just the dad that brought his girls, you know, and and he, you know, he's letting them do their thing so he doesn't embarrass them. You could also come across as the guy that was supposed to go on a date with his girlfriend, but she broke up with them right before and he decided to go anyways.
SPEAKER_01And then you could come off which is also the which is also a thing. I was supposed to go with the girl I was dating.
SPEAKER_02Oh, really? And just so you have an extra ticket, don't you?
SPEAKER_01No, no, no. I had thankfully I hadn't bought the tickets yet. We had had the plans, but I hadn't bought the tickets yet. So now but here's the thing you and I think of Kesha as young girl music, but she was popular in like the like 2008. Right, right. So like a lot of her fans are gonna be not too far away from my age.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Uh, I say go. You already have the ticket or no?
SPEAKER_01I don't have the ticket yet.
SPEAKER_02All right.
SPEAKER_01So that's what I'm debating.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. Gosh, I hate to tell you not to go, but I think you I think you should go. I don't think it's that creepy. But we'll see, we'll see what the uh Facebook Live says and uh radio listeners give us your input, 928-532-4144. Would it be creepy for Ryan to go to a Kesha concert by himself?
SPEAKER_01Or just like sad. Would it be sad? And follow-up question Do I buy a seat or do I buy a lawn ticket? Which is less creepy.
SPEAKER_02I think a lawn ticket is less creepy.
SPEAKER_01I think so.
SPEAKER_02I think so. Awesome. And uh, we're gonna play a fun little game with you on uh this National Milk Chocolate Day. But first, uh here's what people are saying on uh uh Facebook Live. Uh Kirk Nerme says you should not go to the Kesha concert all by yourself. Pretty sure that would uh wind you up on a watch list.
SPEAKER_01So he is a former lawyer. He is a former lawyer. Watch list.
SPEAKER_02That's right. Uh I say go, I say UBU and find your own happiness, but Kirk Nerme says don't
Milk Chocolate Slogan Challenge
SPEAKER_02go. All right, uh, in honor of Milk Chocolate Day, Ryan, we are going to see if you could finish some popular chocolate candy bar slogans. You ready? I'm ready. Break me off a piece of that cat bar. Boom, dude. One of my favorite candy bars. You like those? Solid, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Always a go-to for me. Sometimes you feel like a nut. Sometimes you don't. Yeah, what candies? Almond Joy and Mound. Yeah, yeah. Which one do you prefer? Oh, definitely an almond joy. That's also a go-to for me. A lot of people don't like coconut, but I really do.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. I love coconut too. Melts in your mouth. Not in your hand. Hershey Kisses. Yeah, dude, you are on fire. Just a quick interjection, real quick. Didn't realize he got a wrong correct answer is MMs, not Hershey Kisses. I can't believe uh I missed that. Now back to our call.
SPEAKER_01Holy moly. I mean, I'm a product of Saturday morning cartoons. I feel like all these commercials used to be on all the time.
SPEAKER_02That's a good point. We were marketed too heavily by junk food. And last one, nobody better lay a finger on my butterfinger.
SPEAKER_01Bart Simpson and the Butterfinger.
SPEAKER_02Heck yeah, awesome. Well, happy National Milk Chocolate Day, uh, Ryan. And when is this concert to see Kesha?
SPEAKER_01I think it's August 12th. So it's a couple weeks away. And I'm still debating. I'm gonna look at tickets and uh yeah, we'll see. I'll I'll I'll give you guys an update.
SPEAKER_02Maybe you go and you meet another single lady who also uh went by herself, and you guys end up falling in love, and then Kesha ends up uh being the person to uh do the wedding.
SPEAKER_01You know what? I like how you're thinking. That's very romantic. That sounds like a romantic comedy that I would watch.
SPEAKER_02All right. Well, let's do it. The answer is soft. He's going to see Kesha. All right, best friend. We love you. Thanks for having fun.
SPEAKER_01Love you too.
SPEAKER_02Bye, guys. Janine,
Comedy Show Recap And New Gig
SPEAKER_02you there?
SPEAKER_03Yes, I am, Chris. How are you? And how was your show last night?
SPEAKER_02How cool. Yeah, I got to headline Monday fun day over there at Honda Casino in the Timbers Lounge, and it was an awesome show, Janine. It was it was packed, standing room only. The crowd was awesome. The opener featured comedian Aaron Wankowski. He was hilarious. He's originally from Yuma, but came uh by way of LA this time, and he was fun to perform with. And even one of my uh dad's old friends that he's worked with for years, like I don't think they've seen each other in 20 years. He saw that I was uh gonna be at Honda and they have a place up here, and he came to see me last night.
SPEAKER_03Oh my gosh. So was that a little pressure?
SPEAKER_02That was a lot of pressure, yeah. Because what's crazy, when I was starting to do comedy, uh this guy, uh Jeff, he was like he was kind of the MC of the company that my dad and him worked for. And so they said, you need to talk to him if you want to get into entertainment and comedy. And so it was definitely some pressure because I was like, oh man, this guy's good. So but he he had a good time and it was a fun, fun show. So thank you to everyone that came out and thank you to Honda.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, there we go. Yeah, it's awesome.
SPEAKER_02And then Chris Bennett Comedy is producing another show, uh, Janine, August 22nd at the Elks Lodge. Ooh, and I'm bringing in a headliner that has a Netflix special. That's right.
SPEAKER_03Very cool.
SPEAKER_02He's got a Comedy Central special. He's been on Conan. He was a correspondent on the Tonight Show. His name's Dwayne Perkins. He's gonna be our headliner. He also has a dry bar comedy special. Dylan White's gonna feature. He's got a dry bar comedy special, and so uh that's gonna be a lot of fun. Mark your calendars August 22nd, 6 30 p.m., 18 and over. Get your tickets today at Chris Bennett Comedy.com.
SPEAKER_03Chris Bennett Comedy.com. Yeah, and this is all laughing in the White Mountains, on and on and on.
SPEAKER_02That's right. And this week is early bird pricing. So up until Monday, you say five dollars. So get your tickets now. Laugh, laugh your way to the bank, saving some money. I love it. I love it. It is
Good News Tuesday That Hits Home
SPEAKER_02talk about something good Tuesday, and that means it's time for some good news. You want to go first, Janine?
SPEAKER_03Sure, sure.
SPEAKER_02All right, what's your good news for today?
SPEAKER_03Okay, this is kind of I got a couple of cute little animal ones that are going viral that you have to look at because it'll warm your heart. A Nebraska family was reunited with their dog Chong. Not Chichin Chong, but just Chong, who we've been missing for five years. He turned up at an Indiana truck stop about 640 miles from home. I think he was hitch and ride with those truckers, you know. So, anyway, there's really cute video of him. And also, I love this. For the first time in 30 years, a newborn puffin bird. It's called a pufflin. The baby is called a pufflin, just FYI, was spotted emerging from a cliffside nest along England's south coast. There's supposedly only one remaining colony of these birds there, so you gotta look that up. Newborn pufflin. Oh puffin bird, super cute. Puffin bird. Yeah, you're a little pufflin. I like your little puffling, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, that's some great news on this talk about something good Tuesday. It is now time for my good news story on this talk about something good Tuesday. Here it is, Janine. A 71-year-old woman in China is being called a hero after saving a man from drowning. Uh, even though she only learned to swim after retiring, Liu DeFang was walking near a bridge with friends when she heard someone had fallen into the river. Without hesitating, she jumped in to help someone tossed her a life preserver. And despite the man struggling against her, she managed to get him safely back to shore with help from people nearby. And then afterwards, she quietly slipped away because she didn't want her family worrying about about her. So police later shared surveillance video to identify the mystery hero, and it went viral, of course. Uh, when asked about it, Lou simply said it wasn't a big deal. She also hoped the man she rescued would remember whatever difficulties you're facing, they do pass, and life is a precious gift.
SPEAKER_03Aw, that is awesome. What a great gal.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, pretty I yeah, and also goes to show it's never too late to learn new things, new tricks. She didn't learn to swim till, you know, uh recently. And it ended up saving someone's lives.
SPEAKER_03There you go, there you go. There you go.
SPEAKER_02Absolutely. Well, sweet, thanks, best friend. Have a great day.
SPEAKER_03You too, Chris. Thank you. Love you. Bye.
SPEAKER_02Love you, buddy.
Life Of Nermi Project Update
SPEAKER_02Good morning. It's the morning brew with Chris. Who's this?
SPEAKER_00Well, good morning, GJ Typance. It's your best friend, Kirk Nermi.
SPEAKER_02Oh, best friend of the show, Kirk Nermi, and he's got a comedy project. He's working on Life of Nermi, that uh I got to be a small part of. Any updates on Life of Nermi when we can check that out?
SPEAKER_00Well, you were more than a small part, first of all. I mean, you are the show's sex symbol. Let's face it. You and that brocini, let's don't undersell this to your audience, Fred.
SPEAKER_02Well, I mean, if you're a sex symbol, you just are, you know, and it's just it's hard for me to avoid it. Everything I do, it's just, you know, that's what it's all about.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, well, Saturday we filmed uh the final full scene. We're gonna see if we have to do some pickups within the next couple weeks, but we'll be editing that. We got some great stuff on Saturday. Got to work with the great uh legendary Arizona reporter Mike Watkins had a part in this. So yeah, it was pretty, pretty juicy stuff we filmed on Saturday. So I'm excited to share it. And of course, uh, we are working on a comedy show down at Stir Crazy, a Life of Nermi comedy show, featuring the great comics of Life of Nermi, Ashley Rose, Mike Dapper, and of course, Chris Bennett.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, that would be fun. And then people will be able to go to that comedy show and see the uh the uh Life of Nermi.
SPEAKER_00Well, we're gonna have the Life of Nermi up on the website. I don't know if we're gonna be showing it uh there or not, but the website will be launched and everybody will be able to see the uh proof of concept, the various clips, etc.
SPEAKER_02All right, heck yeah. I can't wait. Keep your eye out for Life of Nermi.
Fact Or Splash Water Park Trivia
SPEAKER_02It is National Water Park Day, and before we let him go, we're gonna play a fun game with Kirk Nirmie called Fact or Splash. Uh, first of all, boo or cool to uh water parts.
SPEAKER_00Uh boo, generally. I mean, unhygienic and what have you. The amount I remember they were doing a water park theme uh TV show, and it turns out the uh water was soaked with poop. Oh, and they had to cancel the show, yeah. Oh, okay. Yeah, so I avoided the boop water. So there you go.
SPEAKER_02Well boo on water parks. I'm gonna ignore you said that because I enjoy going to water parks. All right, fact or splash. The world's tallest water slide is taller than a 15-story building.
SPEAKER_00Uh, I'm gonna say fact.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's in uh Brazil Kilimajaro water slides, 164 feet tall, and rider's speech speed uh reach speeds of around 60 miles per hour. You probably have to have a special swimsuit to handle that slide, right?
SPEAKER_00Well, I don't know. Would you get it? Uh my first thought was you and a brocchini down that slide. Let's go. Let's see what happens. Let's make TikTok gold, baby.
SPEAKER_02Uh let's see, splash or uh uh factor splash. There are water slides that actually send you uphill.
SPEAKER_00Um I'm gonna say splash.
SPEAKER_02No, that is a fact. That is a fact, yeah. That's crazy. Yeah, there's some wild, wild water parks.
SPEAKER_00Now that would that would be a lot of water pressure, Chris.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it would. Uh what about uh this? The world's largest water park is located in the United States. Factor splash.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna say splash. You mentioned the one with the Kilimanjaro was in Germany, I believe. Yeah, I'm gonna say splash.
SPEAKER_02You you are correct. Yep, it is in uh the largest water park is located in Chimelong Water Park in China. All right. And uh last question: the largest water park in America has more than 50 water slides. I'm gonna say fact. That is fact. That's Wisconsin Dales. It's the home of the biggest water parks in the country with dozens of attractions. Have you ever been there?
SPEAKER_00I have not. I have not been to Wisconsin whatsoever.
SPEAKER_02Oh, heck yeah. I love Wisconsin. Man, they have the best fried food, and uh they have you know the biggest uh water parks in America. That's uh sounds like a place I gotta go check out. It does indeed.
SPEAKER_00Awesome. Just have rocini ready and hit those water parks, Chris.
SPEAKER_02You got it. Thank you so much, Kirk Nermi, for having fun with us today. And everyone, keep an eye out for the upcoming comedy project, Life of Nermi. We love you, best friend. Love you guys. Have a great day. Bye.
