Court is officially in session, best friends!
On today’s Morning Brew with Chris Bennett and Best Friends, we’ve got TWO ridiculous Am I the Jerk Court cases.
First, a wedding guest is told to arrive two hours early — only to discover the groom lied about the start time so he could get some FREE manual labor!
Then things get even crazier when Paul from Beaumont puts on his redneck judge’s wig to rule on a husband who uses the kids’ craft scissors to open raw chicken, leaves the baby gate open with the oven on, and rushes back to the bedroom because he doesn’t want to crash… his FLIGHT SIMULATOR.
Plus, Nicole plays some Baseball Fans Day trivia to win VIP comedy tickets compliments of ComfortFit Dentures, and we ask Paul the important question: What would he buy first if he won a BILLION dollars?
Grab your coffee and come laugh with your best friends!
Cold Open And Quick Setup
SPEAKER_01But then he left the baby gate open with the oven on, and he was really in a hurry because he was spending time focused on his uh video game, his flight simulator, and not the kids.
SPEAKER_00Well, you don't want to crash.

Wedding Guest Trickery In Court
SPEAKER_01court is in session. We have the honorable Janine Ford and Lisa Green filling in as judge today. Here's the story, you two. I was invited to my friend's wedding and told to arrive at 10 a.m. So my wife and I showed up dressed and ready at 9.45. Turns out the wedding wasn't until noon. My friend initially told me the wrong time because he wanted me to help set up gazebos, move tables, and haul equipment up a hill. He said he picked me because I'm strong and work in construction. I wasn't the best man or even one of his six ushers. I also have back problems and didn't want to leave my wife alone for two hours, so I refused. He told me I'm giving you a free meal later. You could at least help earn it. Oh my gosh. Wow. I said I traveled, paid for a hotel, and bought a gift. Later he complained about me to other guests, so I called him a cheapskate. Am I the jerk? What say you?
SPEAKER_02Lisa, let's uh start with you.
SPEAKER_03Well, absolutely, the guy is not the jerk because how rude of the groom.
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_03What what are you doing? You're expecting somebody to come in their nice dress shirt, right? And start hauling stuff back and forth.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, set up gazebos. I mean, and he it was big work, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yes, and now you're filthy and sweaty and enjoy my wedding that you paid to come to.
SPEAKER_02Right, right. It's just no, I agree with her. I just think that the groom is a jerk. Yeah, and he needs to pay somebody to do those things. A guest is a guest, right?
SPEAKER_01Or give them a heads up and give them the option to help. Don't just like spring it on them. That would be like uh me and my wife inviting you over for bunk go, Janine. Yeah. And uh you you get there and I'm like, all right, I'm gonna need you to clean the house and cook us some dinner.
SPEAKER_03Right. Make the hors d'oeuvres.
SPEAKER_01But I brought bunko, so what are you complaining about? Right.
SPEAKER_02Yes. Yeah, I think the groom's the jerk, and you just don't. I know some people, you know, like we were teasing about if people have trucks, how many people ask you to help them move. Right. And um both my boys are huge. They're big, muscly guys, and they constantly get tackled for can you help us move? And you know, that's that what that's what causes horrible backs and everything else, trying to move up three flights of stairs with a big old couch on your back. Yeah. You know, it's not really nice. Just hire somebody if you can.
SPEAKER_03And I predict they won't be friends for much longer. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Sounds like the groom is a little bit of a butt.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And that's why, Janine, I look the way I do. No one ever asked me to help them move.
SPEAKER_02There you go. There you go. You got strategy. Your natural protection. There you go. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. All right. Well, thanks so much for having fun with us, you two, and I hope you have a great day.
SPEAKER_02You too, Chris. Thank you. Bye. Bye-bye.
Baseball Trivia For VIP Tickets
SPEAKER_01Good morning. It's the morning brew with Chris. Who's this? This is Nicole. Nicole. Calling to win two VIP tickets. Compliments of Comfort Fit Dentures to our summer comedy series at the Elks Lodge, August 22nd at 6.30 p.m. All right. All you have to do, best friend, is uh get two out of five questions correct. It is baseball fans day, so how about we do some baseball trivia?
SPEAKER_03All right, I'm excited.
SPEAKER_01All right, which snack is famously mentioned in Take Me Out to the Ball Game? Cracker Jack? Yes, there we go. Peanut, you didn't even need multiple choice. That's right. Well, sorry. No, no, that's okay. Uh all right. So uh you just got one right. Here we go. Before baseballs became dirty during games, what did pitchers sometimes intentionally put on the baseballs to make them harder to hit? Is it A? Honey, B, tobacco juice, C, bacon grease, or D, whiskey.
SPEAKER_03I'm gonna go with tobacco juice.
SPEAKER_01That is a good guess. I don't think they're carrying honey with them. It is tobacco juice. Congratulations, Nicole. You just won two VIP tickets, compliments of Comfort Fit Dentures to our comedy show August 22nd with headliner Dwayne Perkins at the Elks Lodge. If you weren't as lucky as our best friend, you could get your tickets today at Chris Bennett Comedy.com. General Mission seating is $25, and VIP reserve seating is almost sold out for $35. Get them today at Chris Bennettcomedy.com. Woo!
SPEAKER_00That's Bob Lodge!
SPEAKER_01Kup Beaumont says so! Yee yee! Yee yee!
Powerball Dreams With Paul From Beaumont
SPEAKER_01Everyone's favorite redneck from Beaumont, Texas. It is Paul from Beaumont, buddy. Uh, did you hear that the Powerball is up to a billion dollars? One billion dollars. One billion dollars. Yeah, isn't that what Dr. Evil asked for in uh Austin Powers? At first it was a million, and then he goes, one billion.
SPEAKER_00I got my little fake, I got my little finger in my mouth.
SPEAKER_01Uh nice what so if you won one billion dollars, what's the first purchase you're making? Oh man, probably a new house. And then would you leave because Rhonda recently bought chickens? Would you leave the chickens at their current house and just let the chickens have that house?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean I look, like we ain't got look, look, look. Money's not an issue. Yeah, I ain't worried about eggs. I've got to get rid of them.
SPEAKER_01Uh, dude, it is Am I the Jerk Court Wednesday? Uh, do you want to be a guest judge for one of our Am I the Jerk Court cases today?
SPEAKER_00That's Am I the Jerky.
SPEAKER_01All right, it is now time for Am I the Jerk Court. The Honorable Paul from Beaumont presides. You got your robe and wig on? Yeah. What's a redneck judge wig look like? Is it a mullet? Probably. All right. Yeah, probably so. All right, I'll read the story and we'll come back. We'll get your ruling, Judge. Here
Flight Simulator Dad Jerk Court Ruling
SPEAKER_01we go. I'm a 40-year-old mom of six. I was making dinner when I realized we were out of tortillas. So I asked my husband to put the chicken in the oven while I ran to the store. When I got home, the baby gate to the kitchen was wide open. My husband was nowhere around, and sitting on the counter were our kids' craft scissors. Covered, covered in raw chicken juice. Ooh. We have knives, we have kitchen shears, but apparently craft scissors were the obvious choice. I asked why he'd used them, left the mess, and left the gate open with our two-year-old around while the oven was on. He started yelling that I'd treat him like a child. Then I discovered why he was in a hurry. He was playing a flight simulator game in our bedroom and rushed back because he didn't want his fake plane to crash. Am I the jerk? What say you?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think he is jerk. Ooh, okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know why? Why? You know why? I'm gonna tell you why. I'm gonna tell you why right now. Okay. Who forgot to get everything? Not him. Okay? That hurt. Okay. That should have been done before he even got home from work. Okay, let's just be honest. Okay. And uh, okay, he used what was there, okay? So good for him. Uh-huh. Kudos to him. Kudos to him for using what was available.
SPEAKER_01But then he left the baby gate open with the oven on, and he was really in a hurry because he was spending time focused on his uh video game, his flight simulator, and not the kids. Well, you don't want to crash. But ultimately, if she would have gotten the right amount of groceries to begin with, this would not have been an issue.
SPEAKER_00Well, be but look, we wouldn't be having this case.
SPEAKER_01I think there's a lot of people that disagree with you. Let's see, we have a juror on the Facebook Live. Uh Dave Ramsey says his priorities are in the wrong place. He's a total child, and Dave would have cursed him out too. But but he's not the judge. You're the judge. Relax. All right. So in the case, am I the jerk for getting after my husband like he's a child, Paul from Beaumont says, Yeah. Yeah, yeah, you are the jerk. You are the jerk. Leave me alone and let him play his flat simulator. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Get everything the first time.
SPEAKER_01Awesome. Paul, you're the best. Thanks for having fun with us. And uh hopefully we'll talk to you soon.
SPEAKER_00All right, but yeah, hopefully, hopefully Rodney don't hear this, but yeah.
SPEAKER_01Awesome. If she was listening, would you have ruled differently? No. Uh-uh. Yeah, right, yeah, right. Uh okay, buddy. Talk to you soon. Oh, dude. Bye. All right, best
