It is me, Chris Bennett, and we've got a juicy talk about something good Tuesday episode for you. Brian is back in town after a road trip that didn't go according to plan, and we put him to the test for never give up day. We also hang out with Janine Ford and Jennifer from the Apache County Fair to find out what's coming up August 26th through the 29th. Plus, I've got a crazy good news story about a woman who accidentally threw away a million euro winning lottery ticket. And Paul from Beaumont joins us for Are You Smarter Than a Redneck? Brian’s Road Trip Car Nightmare

Never Give Up Day Trivia Game
SPEAKER_02Will you play a little game with me? Sure, I like playing games with you. Today is Never Give Up Day. So we have Brian from Pinedale on the phone for a fun game called Who Am I? These are famous people that never gave up. We're gonna find out if you're smarter than a handsome radio DJ. You ready?
SPEAKER_04I doubt it after the traveling. All right.
SPEAKER_02So let's go. Say your name, that's your buzzer. Before becoming famous, I was fired from a newspaper because my editor reportedly felt I lacked imagination. Uh but Brian. Uh Clark Kent. Clark Kent, he's not even a real person. Okay, but newspaper? No, no. This person later built an entertainment empire around a mouse. Who am I? Chris Walt Disney. Yeah, yeah. He had multiple failures early in his career, and including the collapse of his first company, Laffogram Studio, but eventually creating Mickey Mouse and building Disney into an entertainment powerhouse. Another example of not giving up. Alright, here we go. Before I became one of the biggest names in country music, I moved to Nashville the day after graduating high school and was rejected by record labels for years. I eventually became the Queen of Country. By a queen. Okay, never mind. Queen of country is an A, Reba McIntyre, B, Dolly Parton, C, Loretta Lynn, or D, Shania Twain. Oh Chris. I'm gonna say Dolly Parton. Boom! Ding, ding, ding. Ding. Oh man, you're skunking me. Yeah, she arrived in Nashville at 18, and early labels uh wanted her to record pop and didn't want her to record country. Their mistake. All right. Uh this last one is worth a million points. Uh, if you get it right, you could come back and win it. I was cut from my high school's varsity basketball team as a sophomore. Instead of quitting, I used it as motivation and eventually became one of the greatest basketball players ever. Brian? Brian. Charles Barclay. No, not Charles Barclay. Uh I know this one. It's Michael Jordan, baby. One of uh one of the best basketball players to ever do it, and a prime example of not giving up. He used this obstacle as a motivation to make him better and to work harder, and it ended up paying off. That was Who Am I on Never Give Up Day? And you know who I am. I'm smarter than Brian for Pine.

SPEAKER_01Yeah, I know. I love it. I love the good news days. All days are good news days here with you. Absolutely.

SPEAKER_01And I have a great friend on the phone, Jennifer Freeden, with um Apache County Fair is on the line of fair is coming.

SPEAKER_02Hello, Jennifer. This is exciting news. When's the uh fair coming to town?
SPEAKER_01Oh, it is so close. It's August 26th through the 29th. And it's in St. John's at the fairgrounds. And Jennifer, give them uh a little big overview of just some of the things going on. There's tons going on.
SPEAKER_00There is, there's so much, but I'll try and get as many as I can in. Yes, it's Wednesday through Saturday, and we will have rodeos and horse shows and a mud bog and a mud run and entertainment, live entertainment, uh food, and um vendors. So you can come and buy and gorge, and of course the carnival will be there, so you can come and ride some rides. Uh 4-H livestock shows, FFAs. I love it. We've got um, but and again, the best thing is that it is all free. This is the last free fair.
SPEAKER_01Yes, Chris. And Chris, after the mud bog Friday night, Saturday morning, they're going to have the human mud, you know, where you're sliding down. I can just picture you out there in the mud run. It would be so good.
SPEAKER_02Am I able to do that?
SPEAKER_00Yes. Absolutely. If you go to our website, ApacheCountyfair.com, there is a sign up for our mud run, and we would love it. Especially if you dressed up as a historical figure. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01They want George Washington, you know, sliding in the mud. Yeah. Oh, absolutely.
SPEAKER_02Dude, if I'm in town, I definitely got to do this. This is gonna be the end of the month. And what day is that mud uh run?
SPEAKER_00The mud run is Saturday, the 29th.

SPEAKER_01So it goes Wednesday through Saturday, 26th to the 29th at the uh uh St. John's Fairgrounds. I love it.
SPEAKER_00Apache Fair John's Fairgrounds in St. John's, and there's uh we've got a stage with live entertainment, which again is all free. Um, all sorts of fun stuff.

The Lottery Ticket In The Trash
SPEAKER_02All right, Janine, it's now time for me to share my good news story on this talk about something good Tuesday. Uh, this is crazy. A woman in southern Italy nearly threw away a million euro jackpot.
SPEAKER_01Uh oh.
SPEAKER_02Literally, she took her lottery ticket to the local shop to check it, and the machine said it was non-payable. So she assumed that it meant she didn't uh she hadn't won anything, so she tossed the ticket in the trash. And it turns out that non-payable can also mean you won too much money for that store to pay you.
SPEAKER_01That's a good there's a good lesson. I just got goosebumps. Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because they you know, they're not gonna give you a million dollars at the gas station. So a family member later recognized the winning numbers as the numbers she always played, and there was just one problem. By the time she realized she won the million euros, the trash had already been picked up.
SPEAKER_01No way. Yes, no way.
SPEAKER_02So the local uh trash company stepped in, workers tracked down the garbage truck, took it to a special facility, and spent hours searching for the trash and somehow they found it.
SPEAKER_01OMG.
SPEAKER_02Yes, the winning ticket was miraculously still intact, and the women and the women and the woman got her million euro jackpot. Holy moly.
SPEAKER_01Chris, what a story. That's crazy.
SPEAKER_02That's a great story, but it doesn't say like how much she tipped those trash dudes. Yeah. Like she has to tr tip them something, right?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, the trash dudes need a lot. Maybe she makes some homemade risotto. Oh, really?
SPEAKER_02She won a million dollars and she should give them some risotto.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you but when you eat risotto in uh Italy, yeah, it's over.

SPEAKER_02It is now time for Are You Smarter Than a Redneck with everyone's favorite redneck from Beaumont, Texas? Paul from Beaumont. Anything good worth talking about today on this talk about something good Tuesday? I think it's supposed to start cooling off a little bit. Oh, there we go. Nice. Today, Paul, is mail order catalog day. A lot of the kids out there probably don't know what that is. Before the internet, you would order items from a mail order catalog. What's the weirdest thing you ever ordered from a mail order catalog? Well, it was like from the comics, or the comic book, probably the sea monkeys. The sea monkeys? Yeah, I remember the Sears catalog. Uh, every year when it was getting close to Christmas, I'd grab it and circle all the stuff I wanted Santa to bring me. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, we're gonna play a game called Which Catalog Was It? Here we go. If you know the answer, say your name. That's your buzzer. This catalog became famous for selling just about everything, including an entire kit for a house. What catalog was it? Is it A, Sears, B, JC Pennies, or C Finger Hut? Chris. Oh. Chris Sears Catalog. That's right. I think my grandma bought a house from Sears Catalog. Uh, but uh, yeah, from 1908 to 1940, you could buy a home kit from Sears. You ever do that?
