SPEAKER_01Definitely making this move because like I said, I'm I I was a huge homebody. I never thought I would even move 30 minutes away from where I grew up. And uh uh God had a big con and uh I think this was it. And he uh it I'm just I'm blown away by that. I look back and I'm just like I cannot believe I'm sitting where I am today, and that's that would definitely blow 16-year-old me away.

Uh, that was just a little snippet from our interview with today's country climb star of the week, Carson Bach. He went from being a self-described homebuddy in Missouri to packing up and moving to Nashville to chase his country music dream. And today we're getting to know Carson, hearing about his country climb, and talking about his song 16-year-old me. Uh plus Tommy from Winslow plays senior superstar trivia for some diamondback tickets, and comedian Dwayne Perkins joins us uh to share some pretty incredible pinch me moments in his comedy career ahead of tomorrow night's comedy show at the Show Low Elk Lodge. SPEAKER_02Chris Bennett's Country Climb, star of the week. Another artist sent our way from the playlist podcast. This artist is originally from Missouri, now living in Nashville. Please welcome Carson Bach. What's going on, y'all? Woo! Thank you so much for being the guest. And before we find out about your country climb, we'd like to have some fun with some rapid fire icebreaker questions. You ready? Yeah, let's do it. All right, here we go. Missouri or Tennessee? Which one feels more like home right now?
SPEAKER_01Oh, definitely Missouri. Definitely Missouri.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's uh uh where you're originally from. And you're also uh a hunter. Is that your favorite thing to do both in Missouri and in Tennessee?
SPEAKER_01Um, I haven't got to go yet in Tennessee. We're coming up on season um here, but uh definitely born and raised in Missouri. I was a big homebody before this big move. So this is all kind of crazy to me to be down here. Um, you know, but yeah, definitely, definitely I gotta I gotta go Missouri. I can't get away from the old Missouri. Um the Missouri Woods is is where it's at. Concert you ever went to? First concert would have been John Party, um, Tri-State Rodeo. That was that was a blast. Big, big party fan.
SPEAKER_02Heck yeah. And do you remember, was there a country artist that you saw that made you think this is what I want to do?
SPEAKER_01That was definitely, that would have definitely been John Party. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Heck yeah, sweet. And if you had one country song to request the rest of your life, parties, events, what country song are you requesting and why?
SPEAKER_01Honestly, I'll take it back um to when I was in high school. And if there was one to request for parties, events to pump people up and get them going, it would definitely have to be up down by FGL and Morgan Wong. That was that was a hooting and hollering song for us back and on the bonfires and whatnot.

Learning Guitar And Writing Songs
SPEAKER_02we uh had some fun with some icebreaker questions. Now it's time to find out about your country climb. When did you first start doing music?
SPEAKER_01Started doing music. Well, I started recording myself on my mom's phone uh singing to like Adele and whatnot. Um that would have been back in like 2012, 2013. Um, but when I bought my first guitar, I was actually in college at Lintech in Missouri and uh taught myself how to play. And right as I was starting to teach myself how to play, I started really just kind of writing and digging into lyrical things. And um I I took it I took a huge liking into it. I finished my first song, and of course it wasn't very good, but I got to show it to my buddies down at school, and they were all like, Man, you wrote that? And I was like, Yeah, uh, then kind of took off from there and took a real liking into it.
SPEAKER_02So and then when did Nashville enter the picture?
The Nudge That Led To Nashville
SPEAKER_01Um, so actually back in 2018, I went in for the voice tryouts, so that was cool, and that opened up my eyes, which was that was huge and wild to me. And I was like, I will never be moving down to this city. I I I don't even think I'm gonna be able to move out of my town because I was such a homebody. And then um kind of got back into music here about a year ago and playlist the podcast that was uh went on last August and had an awesome time, had some really cool feedback from Austin, and uh then came back in December. They invited me back on. I played a song that um I think dearly of that I wrote called Place and Time and had really, really, really cool fill feedback from that from Jordan Rowe and Jackie Lee, two great artists in town. And they both said the same thing. They said, You need to be moving into town and you need to keep writing, and you're gonna make something of this. So that just really opened up my eyes and gave me the confidence to um look at my wife and kind of be like, Hey, can we do this? Should we do this? And she's all in for it. So we made the move. So about five months ago, we made the move and been networking ever since and making some cool things happen.
SPEAKER_02And we
How 16-Year-Old Me Was Written
SPEAKER_02are about to play one of his originals right now. This one is called 16-year-old me. Tell us the story behind how this song came to be.
SPEAKER_01I was sitting in my living room actually down here in Tennessee and just started reminiscing. I always reminisce, it seems like, when I when I start writing. And uh this one just kind of hit home a little bit. 16-year-old me. Um, I just went back to what my thoughts were, what we were doing, and um, yeah, I just started, I just started this little melody, and it turned out to be a pretty cool idea. So I took it to the studio and um ended up finishing it like a week later, and I said, Yeah, I'm definitely dropping this. It it hit home, um, it hit hard, and um everyone's seeming to like it around here and back home, so it's it's pretty neat putting it out.
SPEAKER_02Yeah,
Finding His Country Rock Sound
SPEAKER_02and it definitely rocks. Is that uh how you would describe your your overall music? You know, a little bit country rock.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I definitely grew up on um a lot of old country and then a lot of the newer pop country, you know, and then there was pop punk involved and rock involved. And when I was writing, um, let's say about I don't know, a few years ago, I was trying to write too much country country type stuff, and it just didn't feel like me. And then just in the past year, I've really been introducing um a rock side or a punk side to country, and it just it's kind of who I am. So I just kind of went with it, and that's kind of where 16-year-old me sits.
SPEAKER_02So I love it. And if 16-year-old Carson Bach could talk to Carson Bach today, what do you think uh would blow his mind the most?

SPEAKER_02question, uh, we are on video call, so I see behind you you have a big buck behind you. You told me earlier you're a bow hunter. What's the biggest buck you've ever gotten?
SPEAKER_01Oh biggest buck is actually probably down in the living room, but I think he's 10-point. He's probably he's 152, 152 inch deer. But um, yeah, I'm I'm hoping to change that here and uh this year, which I always say that coming up on the next season. I'm like, all right, this is the year. But being down here in Tennessee and trying to get back to a bunch of the farm ground I did hunt might be a little tough, but I'm gonna try to make it happen. It'll be a uh it'll be a challenge, and I like it.

Pinch Me Moments With Jay Leno
SPEAKER_02Uh, we are actually on the phone with Dwayne right now. You've done some amazing uh things in your career. Netflix special, tonight show, Conan Comedy Central. Uh currently writing for funny you should ask. You have many more awesome things that you've done in your comedy career. What would you say is your number one pinch me moment uh in comedy?
SPEAKER_00Oh, that is a good question. Uh there's been so many. I think working with Jay Leno had to be up there, working with even Conan, you know, like doing Conan and then sitting next to him during a commercial break and him saying something to me that was like sincere, that the people didn't hear. And he comes, you know, he can't he complimented me on my comedy. And uh, you know what another pinch me moment, uh, and I don't know if you know, usually I don't tell people this. Um, after my dry bar special, Jay Leno, who I'm friendly with, but I wouldn't say we're friends, but he called me, got my number from someone, called me to say good job and congratulations. Oh, dude. Yeah, we we s and here's the thing, he called me, I didn't answer because it was from a number I didn't recognize. And then the comedy club had to call me and say, Jay Leno's been trying to call you. So next time, answer. Those were two very, very, very much pinch me moments. But even, you know, work I I've had a lot of pinch me moments. Working on a game show is a pinch me moment because I used to watch game shows with my grandma, and and I mean, that was our jam. Uh, game shows and wrestling, you know. And uh, you know, if if I if I somehow get into a wrestling ring, then then I've done it all. You know what I mean?
