Speaker 1:

All right, so today is going to dive into the latest Adventure Fix issue, which, well, it's pretty jam-packed.

Speaker 2:

Oh is it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it really is. They've got some really interesting stuff in this one for all sorts of different adventure types.

Speaker 2:

I always look forward to these.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, me too. They always do a good job of kind of finding these unique spots and activities. Yeah, so today, just to kind of give you a preview of what we'll be talking about, we're going to look at the cycling Cappadocia delight feature.

Speaker 2:

Oh OK.

Speaker 1:

And then we're going to dive into diving LaRue Cut, which is a dive site, and then, last but not least, we're going to look at the Jamtara Wilderness Camp. Sounds like an awesome mix. Yeah, right, so we got something for everyone. And then, as always, after we go through those main features, we're going to touch on Quick Fix. We'll do the Compass Challenge, yeah, and then see what inspiring quote they've included for us to end the week with. So let's jump right into it. Cappadocia.

Speaker 2:

All right.

Speaker 1:

So this feature highlights this bicycle route. That's 249 miles, which translates to 400 kilometers.

Speaker 2:

Oh, and they say that the route takes around seven days to complete.

Speaker 1:

That's a commitment.

Speaker 2:

It is so not just a casual afternoon ride.

Speaker 1:

No, not at all.

Speaker 2:

And especially considering you know they said the elevation game is around 20,148 feet.

Speaker 1:

Oh, wow.

Speaker 2:

Which, if you're like me and you think in meters, is about 6,141.

Speaker 1:

That's a serious climb.

Speaker 2:

It is. So, yeah, you definitely need to be prepared for that. Yeah, but you know the scenery they're describing. It sounds incredible, so apparently you're cycling through these. You know the fairy chimneys, right, those really crazy rock formations, and then panoramic views of the landscape. It's supposed to be just absolutely breathtaking.

Speaker 1:

I mean, even the photos of that area are amazing, as I know. So to see that while cycling through. I can only imagine.

Speaker 2:

Oh, I bet it would be amazing. And they do mention it's not just all like paved roads. Oh really yeah, they talk about cycling through volcanic steps, which are basically these massive like flat areas formed from previous volcanic activity activity and then also some gravel trails as well.

Speaker 1:

So a real mix of terrain, yeah, a real mix. And they said you pass through all these little villages along the way.

Speaker 2:

Oh nice.

Speaker 1:

Where people are super friendly and they often will offer you Turkish chai.

Speaker 2:

Oh, that's so nice.

Speaker 1:

I know right. Like imagine you're cycling along, you get to have this little tea break. Well, pick me up. Yeah, like imagine you're cycling along, you get to have this little tea break, well pick me up. Yeah, exactly, get to chat with some locals. That sounds really lovely. But they do mention some practical things to consider. Like, some of the route is pretty remote.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 1:

So you really need to plan ahead with your food and water supplies.

Speaker 2:

Makes sense.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you got to be self-sufficient, I guess, in those sections, right, right. And then as far as accommodations go, it sounds like you'd mostly be camping or staying in these small family run guest houses.

Speaker 2:

Okay, so kind of rustic.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, exactly that vibe and they really emphasize you need a GPS or a good map, because-.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, you don't want to get lost.

Speaker 1:

No, you really don't, especially when you're talking about that kind of terrain and that kind of time commitment.

Speaker 2:

Right, exactly.

Speaker 1:

So I don't know.

Speaker 2:

It's a good challenge.

Speaker 1:

It's like the difficulty makes it all the more rewarding.

Speaker 2:

Totally. I mean, if you're into that sort of thing, you know.

Speaker 1:

Right, exactly.

Speaker 2:

And you know they have the explore more links at the bottom, like always. So if you are interested in the Cappadocia route, you can go check those out, perfect, okay, let's switch gears completely From cycling to diving to diving. Larue cut, so this is in the Solomon Islands. Okay, have you ever heard of this?

Speaker 1:

I haven't, but it sounds intriguing just from the name it does right.

Speaker 2:

So it's described as this, like kind of surreal, otherworldly experience. It's supposed to be this really special dive site. So, what makes it so special. So apparently there's this long, narrow crevice and it like slices through this limestone island right and it creates this underwater passage oh wow, so you're like diving through and you have these like towering rock walls on either side oh, I see yeah, like an underwater canyon almost yeah.

Speaker 1:

and then the sunlight filters down from the surface and it creates these beams of light. Beautiful, yeah. They said it's like being in a cathedral.

Speaker 2:

That's a great visual.

Speaker 1:

I know Like you have these shafts of light coming down.

Speaker 2:

It's like those pictures you see of beams coming through a forest.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, exactly Underwater.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, but underwater it must be incredible.

Speaker 1:

Wow.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and the passage is like 330 feet long, so about 100 meters.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so a decent length.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, it's a proper dive. Yeah, you start at like 15 to 30 feet deep.

Speaker 1:

Okay, not too bad.

Speaker 2:

No, no, not super deep. And then here's the crazy part as you're swimming through, you can actually surface inside a hidden jungle cavern.

Speaker 1:

What that's wild.

Speaker 2:

I know.

Speaker 1:

So you're underwater and then you come up and suddenly you're in a jumble Exactly that's amazing.

Speaker 2:

So you're in this cool clear water and then, boom, you come up and it's humid, there's vines, you can smell the rainforest. It's like a totally different world.

Speaker 1:

Wow, that's a serious transition. Right, I mean that's a serious transition. Right, I mean, that's a story you can tell forever. Yeah, that's the kind of experience you don't forget, exactly. And you know what's cool? They actually Adventure Fix. They organize a Solomon Islands kayak and dive expedition.

Speaker 2:

Oh, really that includes this site. That's awesome.

Speaker 1:

So if you're like, oh my gosh, I have to do this dive. Yeah, you can actually go with them.

Speaker 2:

That's convenient. I know they make it easy, they really do.

Speaker 1:

And, like always, there's the explore more section with more info about it. Okay, so we've biked, we've dived. Now let's shift gears again to the Jamtara Wilderness Camp. This is near Pench National Park in India.

Speaker 2:

Okay, so back on land.

Speaker 1:

Back on land, in the jungle this time.

Speaker 2:

Sounds peaceful.

Speaker 1:

It really does and it's small, only 10 tents.

Speaker 2:

Oh, wow.

Speaker 1:

So it's very like exclusive, you know.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, intimate.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, very intimate, and the whole point is to kind of disconnect and be in nature.

Speaker 2:

I like that.

Speaker 1:

So the tents they describe them as spacious and stylish, but they also have this like outdoor feel. How do they do that? Well, they have these big mesh windows. You can actually hear the sounds of the jungle. Oh, wow, like imagine, they said you could hear tigers roaring in the distance.

Speaker 2:

Oh my gosh. I know that would be incredible.

Speaker 1:

Right.

Speaker 2:

A little scary, but incredible.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, a little bit maybe, but a typical day there. They wake you up early, give you coffee and then you go on a Jeep safari Nice, yeah. And the guides they're local, they know the area really well. They can spot all sorts of wildlife leopards, tigers, owls, all sorts of things.

Speaker 2:

That's what you want Someone who knows what they're looking for.

Speaker 1:

Exactly.

Speaker 2:

Otherwise you might just miss everything.

Speaker 1:

I know You'd just be driving around being like I hope I see something Exactly. But honestly, for me, the best part, the thing that really stood out, is this thing called a macan A what? A macan. It's basically a raised platform outdoors and it has a bed on it.

Speaker 2:

OK.

Speaker 1:

So you can sleep outside under the stars.

Speaker 2:

Wow, I know, that sounds amazing.

Speaker 1:

Right, you're in the middle of the jungle.

Speaker 2:

So peaceful.

Speaker 1:

It sounds so peaceful, so cool.

Speaker 2:

I can practically hear the crickets now.

Speaker 1:

Exactly. And then in the evenings they have good food, bonfires, storytelling, you know that kind of vibe.

Speaker 2:

Just relaxing and enjoying the company.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, completely disconnecting. No phones, no internet, just nature. I need that I know right, we all do so. Yeah, that's the Jamtara Wilderness Camp. They have a link if you want to check it out, all right. So those are our three main features.

Speaker 2:

Wow, what a range.

Speaker 1:

I know right.

Speaker 2:

Cycling diving the jungle.

Speaker 1:

You can pick your adventure.

Speaker 2:

Exactly.

Speaker 1:

But we're not done yet. We still have our smaller sections Right.

Speaker 2:

Always more to explore.

Speaker 1:

So quick fix first.

Speaker 2:

All right, hit me with some news.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so first up there's a story about diving in South Africa and it sounds really powerful. They're talking about how the nation is finding peace underwater.

Speaker 2:

Oh wow, that's an interesting concept.

Speaker 1:

I know right. Then there's a feature called Dance of the Giants, which is about understanding polar bear behavior.

Speaker 2:

Polar bears always fascinating.

Speaker 1:

Right. And on the more environmental side, there's news about Mount Taranaki in New Zealand. It's been granted personhood.

Speaker 2:

Wait what.

Speaker 1:

I know right, like legally it's a person.

Speaker 2:

That's incredible. What does that even mean?

Speaker 1:

Well, they explain it in the article, but basically it's about recognizing the mountain as a living being with rights.

Speaker 2:

Oh, I see it's like a way of protecting it.

Speaker 1:

Exactly so it's a pretty cool development, definitely. And then in the space section, there's this amazing time-lapse video of the Northern Lights as seen from the ISS.

Speaker 2:

Oh wow, that must be an unbelievable view.

Speaker 1:

Right, I can't even imagine.

Speaker 2:

Seeing the aurora from space.

Speaker 1:

Talk about an out-of-this-world adventure. And, last but not least, for all you lego fans out there, they have a whole feature on a lego model of shackleton's ship, the endurance oh yeah, a classic exploration story brought to life in lego I love that. So yeah, a good mix of quick news items, something for everyone they really do cover a lot of ground right, so next up is the compass challenge I'm ready to test my geography skills.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so this week they have a photo of well, I'm not going to tell you what it is, that would ruin the challenge, right, but it's a pretty striking photo and if you're good at geography, you might be able to guess where it was taken.

Speaker 2:

All right, I'll have to think about that one.

Speaker 1:

Well, they do give you the answer at the end so you can check if you got it right. Good good, okay, so last but not least, we have our quote of the week always a good way to end the week with some inspiration I know right this week. It is confidence isn't thinking you're better than anyone else. It's realizing that you have no reason to compare yourself to anyone else oh, I like that one. Yeah, it's a good one, right, and it's from miriam hazna it's so true though it is.

Speaker 1:

We get so caught up in comparing ourselves to others, especially with social media and everything.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's easy to get lost in them.

Speaker 1:

And this quote. It's like a reminder to just focus on your own journey, your own path.

Speaker 2:

Exactly, you do you.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 2:

And you'll be much happier for it. So, with that inspiring thought, I guess that wraps up our deep dive into this issue of Adventure Fix.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it does.

Speaker 2:

We covered a lot of ground, from cycling through Cappadocia to diving in the Solomon Islands, to experiencing the peace of the Indian jungle.

Speaker 1:

And don't forget the quick news, the geography challenge and that amazing quote.

Speaker 2:

It really does make you want to get out there and explore.

Speaker 1:

It does. So what adventure is calling to you? Maybe it's one of the ones we talked about today, or maybe it's something completely different.

Speaker 2:

The world is full of incredible places and experiences just waiting to be discovered.

Speaker 1:

That's the truth and, as always, we encourage you to check out the full Adventure Fix newsletter for more details and inspiration. The Explore More links are a great starting point, definitely.
