unknownOh.
SPEAKER_01Hi. Welcome back to another episode of Two Sisters Talking About Nothing.
SPEAKER_00And we apologize. It's been a few weeks since we have done a podcast. And um every time we decide we're gonna do it, something happens. So we're gonna try to get back on schedule because yeah, you know, we we have a lot to talk about and things are happening, even though it's things are happening.
SPEAKER_01Boy, this has just been a happening popping summer so far. What is it? It's already like mid-June. I can't believe it.
SPEAKER_00No, I can't believe it's crazy. July 4th weekend. Oh, yes. What do we think is happening July 4th weekend?
SPEAKER_01Well, who knows? Because uh, since you are in that neck o' the woods, I'm gonna have to put you on wedding watch. I don't know. Look, the rumor was maybe it was Madison Square Garden. Yeah. But I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. Anybody make that look cute?
SPEAKER_00It's it's I truly believe her people are just throwing it out there. Yeah, like let's get them off the yeah, the center, the trailer. I don't even know what the trailer sent anybody's on. Um the thing that I have read is that they actually were gonna do it in Rhode Island and then somebody leaked it. And I quite frankly have no idea, even if somebody did leak it, how do you even make a switch of a venue this late in the game? So I don't even know if that was a a plant by itself. We don't exactly we don't really know if that Madison Square Garden wasn't a plant. Oh, yeah, we we know nothing, and I you know appreciate that. I mean, quite frankly, Tom and Zendaya just announced they are officially married.
SPEAKER_01So you know, you can keep a secret in Hollywood, sure.
SPEAKER_00No, I'm sure you can. I mean, people were speculating, but there has not been one leak out of that camp. I mean, even La Roach in his little goofball comment, I was like, was that even a comment? Like that was for um the movie, so it we were like, Well, is that really a real thing? And I'm I'm happy that they're married and we don't we saw nothing, although I think at some point they will release a photo, and that's you know what? I don't want it, it was just like when Selena got married and they released like what four photos. We don't need to know any more than that. I don't I I just was it a beautiful wedding, that's all we can know, and that's you know, it's just like Dua Lipa got married, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um and let me let me just say that she looked fantastic.
SPEAKER_00She got married at their city hall in London, and she looked fabulous and then had a big reception in Sicily. And I think that's the way it should be done. I mean, that I hope she sets a trend.
SPEAKER_01You know, that's right. You know, look, you either go the Taylor way and invite absolutely everyone that you have ever met in your entire life, or you go the dua lipa way and the Zendaya way and just know.
SPEAKER_00I was like, Oh, and I I hope that people take um I really liked what Dua Lipa wore to her, like City Hall, um yeah, you know, getting married things. She I was like and he looked pretty good. Oh, he looked pretty good too. And I was like, see, this is what you can go to City Hall. I go, you can go to City Hall and get married and look absolutely fabulous and then go and have a party. You don't have to, you know, like and I there's been a few celebrities who have gotten married.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I know, right? They won't be offended if you say, Yeah, just family and friends.
SPEAKER_00Well, there's lots of there are a lot of celebrities who've gotten married downtown at New York City Hall, and they just pop out and because the thing is there are actually photographers there, right? So I don't I don't know who took their photo, and I was like, Oh, how cute they got married, like and so so again we'll we'll see what happens with Taylor and and Travis. Um I think we we do know it has to happen has to happen because um before the end of July, because training camp will be training camp starts, and then the football season, and then we she loses another six months, right? Yeah, so it's gotta happen, people gotta happen. All right, so that's our uh Taylor Travis wedding um update or not.
SPEAKER_01Um let's talk about BTS because we know them so well. Oh no, let's talk about BTS. Yes, move on to our favorite topic that's really the hot news, hot news, hot news. Here we are, smack in the middle of Festa. I know 13, that's 14.
SPEAKER_00I don't know. Yeah. Um I know there's so much going on there. Maybe next year we go to um Festa 2027. Well, we'll see. We'll see what happens. But um, so I think if you've been listening to us, watching us, you know that we dig a tickets to BTS in MetLife. And um, and I'm pretty sure they're good seats, but it was so long ago that we I can't even remember where they are now.
SPEAKER_01But um but you know look, all these clips that I have been like been forced to watch of everyone having a wonderful time at all these other BTS shows where it was really getting some FOMO. I know that's all I did.
SPEAKER_00I watched that's my feet. And so I called up Linda, I said, Hey man, Toronto's got some floor seats, and so and let me just say this trigger on those floor seats. I will have to say that I think that I've seen so many videos of people had gone to show one and they were like, I wish I had bought and then they were like on a downer, they were like depressed because right they were like, Oh, I wish I had bought tickets for this. Then of course, there are the super fans. I feel like they're going to every show, they're at every show. God bless. Um so when Kathy said they had floor seats, I was like, you know what? Whatever those memes are, oh yeah, they're going to get my whole life dedicated to paying for this.
SPEAKER_01Well it's really what you had said to me that one day, Linda. It's like, you know, when we come out of there, out of that show, we're gonna we're gonna be a little down, like yeah.
SPEAKER_00Like we've been waiting, waiting, and we've been watching everybody go to all the US shows. Let's go to Toronto. Um, I know, and my friends are like, what aren't you already going? And you know, unless you are BTS Army, I don't think you get it, yeah you know, and and there has never been we have talked about this, and I've talked to this other people, I go, There's only so many people that I would jump through hoops to go see. I mean, and get on a plane. I I mean, you know, when I was we were living in Florida, we went to see Beyonce, that was a car drive. We went to see Bruce, that was a car drive. But there's I, you know, okay, we're taking, we are flying, but eventually we were gonna take the train. It's 12 hours. I can't do it. Um, but I just, you know, like I I think I thought about going to see Adele, but I was like, I don't want to schlep to Vegas, people. I go, and you know, the people I I just thought this is probably gonna be the last group I see, unless I win the lottery and somehow another figure out how to go to see them in Asia next year. But I swear, I'm like, you know what, life is you know, life is short, as they say, and you know, we're not 22. No, we're not. So we got we're that's what we're doing, folks. So you'll be hearing a lot about BTS, and actually, this is all I talk about. It's like, what am I gonna wear? What are you gonna wear? I just I just watch these men, women, the men are hilarious. There's definitely a lot more BTS army men than there used to be, and they are either fans or they go with their wives, or they're dragged being um, and although I think they're somewhat enjoying it.
SPEAKER_01So I would think so.
SPEAKER_00There's a lot of there's a lot of new army I've been seeing a lot, yeah, um, in my feed, and they're like, hey, nobody told me about this group. What what? I and they're really getting into it just from Airong, and then they're going back in time. Yeah, because I think there's a lot of people who think that they're just you know, I mean technically they are they just have their stereotypical idea of what or they only know them from dynamite and butter.
SPEAKER_01I know, and that's yes.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I mean that's how I somewhat discovered that songs, but they're but then when you go back and you I think that they everybody thinks that all their songs are just that, but if you look at the depth and breadth, yeah, every song is pretty much different. Yeah, I mean, all you have to do is listen to Audio and it's like uh I I feel like every song is different.
SPEAKER_01I think that they have a you know, look, I think that they have definitely done what a band should do over the years is evolve, right? Definitely they continue to evolve, which is um more than what some people can you know, you can keep on putting out the same dribble because that's what you do, yeah.
SPEAKER_00But um and I I don't know if you've been listening to there's a lot of more um sort of the behind the scenes of all the producers and the collaborators that are coming out and talking about their experience working with them, and I can't remember who because I don't know who these people are in the first place. But it was like when they want to eat, they want to eat. They are hungry, they're like, get out of their way. They're like, Okay, yeah, we're and you're like, What? Okay, they're gonna eat. Okay, sure, but they do eat, they do eat a lot, yeah. Weirdly, for the thinnest people, and um they burn a lot of calories. All the calories, I know, in the studio, whatever they really do. Sometimes I'm when I see those practice videos, yeah, and I'm just seriously in stunned amazement sometimes. And the fact is, I mean, they've been doing this for 13 years, but to be able to be in the front and just right do it and just know that what's happening behind you is the exact synchronized way. I mean, there's never they never look back, they just no, and you know what you're not supposed to.
SPEAKER_01You're not supposed to, you're not, you're not so you're not supposed to need to have to do that, right? No, it's like always supposed to be that space, you know.
SPEAKER_00But to watch them in those practice things where it's I really am just amazed sometimes, and there it's I always look let's go back in time to insected Backstreet Voice.
SPEAKER_01You're like, what I know, oh we really had you know, we really should have had higher expectations. We had not, I mean, more demanding.
SPEAKER_00I know this but even when you look at um Janet, like even when you look at Janet Jackson, which was yeah, I think pretty intricate at the time, still is, but even in comparison to that, you know, just BTS is four, three, two, one of the listen, I and the fact that they're in other people's videos, yeah, you're like, what? I still haven't, I can't even. What? I all I know is every day I listen to Follow the Sun and I'm like, I hope I can get this correct when it's our turn to do it in a stadium full of 30,000, 40,000 people. That's okay.
SPEAKER_01I hope so too, Linda, because I cannot be embarrassed by you. I hope I can embarrass you. I hope you have that name chant down when I'm gonna do it. No, I don't want to do if you don't.
SPEAKER_00I don't, I don't. You know why?
SPEAKER_01Why?
SPEAKER_00I can only it's weird. I know it's starting. No, I don't get stuck. I can they're starting, and then by the time I it's like double dutch. I tried to explain this to somebody the other day. It's like double dutch. By the time I hear one and two, I'm like, Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01You're already, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I'm always I'm behind. I get to oh, minyungi.
SPEAKER_01Okay, let me I missed one and two. I'm gonna have to teach you there really is a part of the song where you come in.
SPEAKER_00It's like the rhythm. I was like, oh, and we're oh, we're at the end. I'm like, yeah, I I know the order, I can sing the order, but it's the beginning of it, and then I'm like, I swear to God, I'm not gonna have to I will leave you in New Jersey if you don't get it. Poke me. Okay, we're starting. Okay, because it's like double dutch. I'm like, wait, oh, too late. Uh I'm just I I some people, if you've ever like done double, I'm like, they literally I have to stand in between. I can't do it. I I've never been able to do it, never will.
SPEAKER_01Well, I can't do it either, and I never even tried to pretend.
SPEAKER_00So you can oh my gosh. All right, so that's our BTS personal update. So a couple of fun things um that I found out. It's sort of sports and BTS. So if you're following the World Cup, um or not, I sort of am, but not, is that uh the captain of the South Korean team, um, I just call him Sunny. I can never remember his Korean name. Um there was a quote this week that um he said that BTS was his support system when he was living abroad. And the quote was, I appreciate them and I am their biggest fan. And I looked it up. Sonny, I could see this because he left South Korea when he was 16 to play in Germany before he went on to the Tottenham Spurs. And he um he left to go play in LA. And you gotta give the Spurs, he was a brilliant player when he played with the Tottenham Spurs, but when he left, they gave him a standing ovate. Like they he is just probably one of the most beloved um soccer players in England. Um so when he said that about BTS, I could see that because he left when he was so he left the country when it was so young. And then I didn't know that I obviously his English is impeccable, but he also speaks German. Well, I would hope so. He was there for us. I know, but that doesn't always mean anything. Yeah, I know that's true.
SPEAKER_01You know, because there's a lot of things for languages, I think.
SPEAKER_00I know, but I think I've seen a lot of players where it's like Shohei Otani. His English.
SPEAKER_01Oh no, that man is fluent. He's just fooling a few. Is he playing?
SPEAKER_00Is he fooling us?
SPEAKER_01Yes, he is. He is sometimes bad. We're the good game.
SPEAKER_00I'm such a fan of his, and I don't even follow him. He understands that yeah, yeah. I I think it's funny. All right, so that's our sunny little thing, and then the last one, the controversial one that people are talking about is the Grammys have announced that they are adding five new categories, one of which is the Asian category. Kathy and I have a difference of opinion. I find that it's ridiculous because I feel like they're segregating all the Asian music into one as opposed to letting them um be considered with all the western um artists. But Kathy brought up a couple of good points. So I'm gonna let you well, okay. Well, look.
SPEAKER_01So look, first of all, let me just make a comment about what you just said. Yes, the Western artists as opposed to the Asian artists. So let's look. Let's look at the globe, okay? Yep. I don't see no German artists in there, I don't see no very few English artists. I s no Swedish, no, you know, France. The West is a pretty big place. So I feel we're basically just talking about American artists, even can even Canada isn't as well with America. You are correct.
SPEAKER_00I would say America, yes, because right if you think about the number of British artists that have broken through.
SPEAKER_01I mean, and it I mean, Coldplay might be the only one, and again, Asia, and from what I read in that description, they're only talking about Far East Asia, yes, not India. So now we're leaving out India and great music coming out of it. I know all the Bollywood music and other music, which doesn't, yeah. So already we have be been, we've already excluded that's a very three corners of the world, right?
SPEAKER_00You have a point. I agree.
SPEAKER_01The Grammys have always done this. I I I sit back and I just watch the Grammys try to be inclusive in ways, right? And I can think 1989, I they had a heavy metal category, they added a heavy metal category to him. Oh, okay. And everybody's sitting back, oh, because Metallica was up, right? I don't remember who else was up. But oh we all we're all thinking Metallica's gonna win. No, but it was somebody absurd. Yes. Would you like me to remind you who it was? Some a group that had not been relevant for probably 20 years.
SPEAKER_00I remember, but I remember everyone Jeff Rotong.
unknownThat's right.
SPEAKER_01Oh, right, yes. All right, so they've been doing this for a heck of a long time. You know, then they had to create that uh hip-hop urban, hip-hop urban category, yeah, and then you know, Kendrick Kendrick Lamar won anyway. Yeah, right, that's true. The you know, the regular whatever, yeah, the regular category. And then they they created a Latin category, and Bad Bunny won anyway. Yeah, over all the things.
SPEAKER_00No, you do have a point. You do it.
SPEAKER_01So I think that yeah, because those are two good examples. Right, yeah. I think maybe it does it initially ex kind of exclude, but I also think that it um in ways highlights um another part of the world and the music that they yeah.
SPEAKER_00So, yeah, I mean, you're bringing up those three examples makes me feel a little bit better towards.
SPEAKER_01Well, I don't know, I don't know about all that now because look, that Audi Dong, it should still it should still win. It should still not just be nominated, but I think that it should win because it really is the best album. It's like let's just go back and look at all the dribble that was put out last year or just upcoming year. Yeah, I don't think it's as um uh it will be Taylor Revolutionary, right? I don't you know, yeah, there's nothing special about anything that has been put out. I mean, you know, they really did do something different.
SPEAKER_00I know it was, it is, it is all right. So those those are our thoughts, Poe. Would love to hear what everybody has to say about the whole Grammy Awards announcement. Yeah, and if you guys are watching World Cup, oh I forgot to mention South Korea's out after that big thing, but Japan's still in because our favorite internet boyfriend, Mr. Oh my god, all of a sudden I blank out on his name. Nakamura, Nakamura san is still in it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like oh my I know we got to follow that Japanese soccer team. Everybody's like, what?
SPEAKER_00What's happening? Oh, they have them best dressed, yes. Um fingers crossed, kids, that we get to keep seeing them because it's a very handsome uh team.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's what I'm rooting for.
SPEAKER_00We're all just root.
SPEAKER_01We don't know anybody else. Messi. I'm not following any. Oh, speaking of sports, can we just bring up the William sisters or back in Wimbledon?
SPEAKER_00Yes, I find this interesting.
SPEAKER_01I find this incredibly interesting because they interviewed Venus not too long ago and we're asking her about you know, Serena playing up there in wherever it was, Staten Island or wherever. She's like, Oh yeah, I don't know anything about her practicing or I've not watched her. And now all of a sudden she's showing up and wimbledoned with her. Like, oh yeah, she had no idea she was.
SPEAKER_00I find this, I do find this interesting. Serena, I could see coming back. Venus has not played in a while and has been well, but no, I mean competitively, yeah, competitively because of her um illness, which I can't remember what she has, right? So um that will be interesting.
SPEAKER_01It will be interesting, yeah.
SPEAKER_00So we'll see. Wimbledon is around the corner, right? I lose sometimes I lose track. Isn't it July 4th? Next month, yeah. It's July 4th. I oh every major tennis event is somehow another link to our our holidays. Memorial Day is French Open, July 4th, Wimbledon. Labor Day is the US Open here. I forget Australian Open is the only one.
SPEAKER_02It's not linked to or whatever.
SPEAKER_00Oh, the Australian Open is happening. Oh, that's because it's around the world and you know starts off the the whole um campaign to get and it's been a while since anybody's won all four at the Grand Sclam events. So we'll see. So let us know, BTS fans or not. At some point, we're gonna do a um our favorite BTS songs compilation. So have a great week and we're gonna see you next week.
SPEAKER_01Yes, of course we will. Yeah, with all new topics of some sort. That's pop culture related. Yes, pop culture related.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
