All right. Hello, everybody. If you don't know me, I'm Tim Lindstrom, and me and my wife are the youth pastors here. We are going to be talking about uh for I'm going to be doing it a couple times. This is just the first of a couple talks that I'll be giving. Um, but this is going to be looking at King David and uh his prayers that he has. So there's a couple different psalms, which King David wrote many of the psalms. Uh, but there are a couple called Davidic Psalms, which directly correlate with a story that we have in the Bible that talk about what happened and then King David's prayer in that moment. So we're gonna be looking at that and sort of see like what happened and how we can pray like uh King David. So uh we're gonna start out this by talking about Star Wars. So, and if you're like, you know what, Star Wars is just there's so many extra things that like Disney Plus is going crazy making all these shows. Don't worry for all of you. We're talking about the first three, okay? So, and by first three, I mean four, five, and six. Okay? So uh there is a plucky young adventurer named Luke Skywalker. Luke Skywalker shows up and he figures out about the force, and he has he's a young farm boy, he's innocent, he has like these white robes, and he goes out and he fights against the evil Darth Vader. Okay, Darth Vader shows up, he has a red lightsaber, and he's wearing black, so you know he's bad, okay? And when he enters, it goes bum, bum, bum, bum, bum, bum, right? So you're you know immediately, bad guy, right? Comes in and starts wreaking all havoc, and Luke Skywalker, plucky young Luke Skywalker, comes in, destroys the Death Star, okay? By trusting in the force and putting all his hope in the force, and he is able to destroy the Death Star, okay? Defeats evil. Awesome moment, right? Then something happens. He goes back and has to fight Darth Vader again, right? In uh Empire Strikes Back. And as he's fighting him again, he loses an arm, right? His whole hand gets chopped off. Okay? And he learns like this awful truth, right, about what happened. Darth Vader's his father. Oh, whoa, right, and then at the end of it, Luke gets a hand, and it's all better, right? Like everything's back to normal. He has a robot hand, right? And as uh we come into the beginning of the sixth movie, we see that Luke in the fifth movie that he didn't have his white robes, it's now a little bit more gray, right? And then we show up at the at the last movie, the sixth movie, and Luke shows up in black robes and he starts force-choking the guards. And you're like, what's happening, right? Only Darth Vader force-chokes people, right? Has Luke gone bad? And as we start looking and seeing more and more of what's happening, we see that Luke at the end, he's fighting Darth Vader again. Can't get rid of this guy, right? He's fighting Darth Vader again, and he sees that finally, as the emperor is telling him to use your anger and fight against Darth Vader and strike him down, right? That use your anger, right? And then kill Darth Vader. Luke looks at his hand and sees that Luke is now at this point become Darth Vader. Right? He's the thing that he fought, he has now become. He's fully in black to really represent it, right? He has a robot hand just like Darth Vader did. And then he sees that this is the path that he's gone down. And what happens at the end? He throws his lightsaber and says, No, I won't. And he turns away from it. Okay. So, that's just because I like Star Wars. It's a great story, but we see that there is a similar story in the Bible. Okay, we're gonna talk about King David. So, King David, if you haven't read 1 Samuel, I would encourage you. It is a good read. Uh, so to give you some background, because there's a lot of stuff that happens, and it's not as fast as watching the first three movies of Star Wars. Uh, there is the story of judges. Israel had no king. God brought them into Israel and then said, Okay, after Joshua, you don't have a king. Your leader will be called judges, and they'll hold court, usually like up on a hill or something like that. And if anything happens, that judge would be like your leader and they would hear from God, and then they would uh be able to lead for a moment and then they're gone, right? And many times through judges, you see that the people follow after God. It's awesome, yay! And then they turn away from God because they have good times. And then as they turn away from God, then God takes away his protection, and then some foreign adversary comes in, invades them, uh, plunders everything they have, right? Takes uh all that they have, make them oppress them, and then they turn back to God and they say, God help us, and they repent, and then as that happens, God brings a judge in, like Gideon or Samson or Deborah or all these Ehud, right? Like all these different guys and ladies, and they come in and they help take out the foreign adversary, and then they follow after God, and it's awesome. And then the cycle continues and they turn away from God and all this stuff. So then finally, the last judge is Samuel. And Samuel is up there being the judge, he's also a priest, and uh as he is uh doing his job, all the people say, We want a king. We don't want to be like different and holy and set apart. We want to be like everybody else around us, right? All these other Moab has a king, right? The Philistines have a king. Why can't we? So then God, Samuel's like, guys, you don't want a king. The kings are gonna like take stuff from you and make taxes, you're gonna fight their wars, all sorts of stuff. They're like, we don't care. Give us a king. So then God says, fine, they can have a king, but here's your warning, right? Kings are gonna do everything that Samuel said, right? They're gonna tax you, they're gonna take all your good stuff, they're gonna put you in their wars and all sorts of stuff. Okay? They get a king. Samuel goes forth and God says, This is your guy. And we find Saul. Saul is a beautiful man, it says, head and shoulders taller than everyone. You're like, Wow, the Bible's calling you pretty, right? And he goes in and he kicks out the invading army, and they're like, Yeah, Saul! And he's like, I'm the king. They're like, Woo, we're with you, right? Saul does great, follows after God, does all sorts of stuff, awesome stuff. And then Saul starts to mess up. And Samuel comes in and is like, Hey, you messed up, right? God told you to do this instead of trust him, and you didn't. Instead, you decided to do what you wanted to do. And he goes, Oh, yeah, okay, okay. And then he goes off and then does some other things and then messes up again, bad. Once again, shrouding it in religion and being like, I did what God said, right? This is all for God. And Samuel's like, no, you were supposed to follow after what God said, right? God wants you to trust him more than he wants you just to sacrifice. And he says, right now, you're no longer king. I'm gonna go find a new king right now. God already has someone picked out. And then at that moment, he goes and Saul grabs his cloak and it tears in his hands. And Samuel goes, That cloak that just torn out in your hands is just the way that your kingdom's gonna be ripped out from your hands. And he walks away and he goes and he finds a little shepherd boy named David, who's like the runt of the litter of his own family. And he goes, Here you go, your king dumps oil on his head and goes, Ha ha. All right, bye. And then takes off, right? David's now a shepherd boy just in his home. He's now the king. He can't say anything. If he says anything, he's dead. So he's suddenly in this moment where he's a shepherd boy, and he's the prophet, judge, came over and said, You are the king, and then left. And then he's there's a battle. The battle happens. His three oldest brothers go to war, right? Just like Samuel said, the kings will take you into wars. So then his three oldest brothers go to war. David ends up bringing food to him, and as he's bringing food to them, sees that the reason they're at this uh at this battle is the Philistines have a champion named Goliath. Tall man, okay, has bronze armor, okay, defies God. He's like, you guys suck, and these are all the reasons why. I'll fight any one of you, and if I win, you're our slaves. And if you by any chance happen to win, we'll be your slaves. Ha ha ha. Right? And David gets over there and is like, who's this guy? Right? Who's this guy that's talking bad about our God and everybody and dissing everybody? What are you guys doing? Who's gonna do it? And they're like, Well, Saul says that he'll give a reward to anyone that does this. They can marry his daughter and have no taxes, right? They're like, no one's taking him up on this offer, right? Saul, who is the giant for Israel, doesn't fight Goliath, who's the giant for the Philistines. This is Saul's job, right? He's their guy, he's their giant, he has bronze armor. Goliath is their giant and has bronze armor. And both of them defy God. So really, Saul doesn't even have God on his side, right? But it's a direct correlation between it, where Saul is Israel's Goliath. And yet David, the small shepherd boy who was just anointed by Samuel, says, I'll take him on. And Saul goes, Okay, okay, then put on this armor and take this uh this sword and get out there and go fight Goliath. And David goes, I can't do this, and takes it off, and instead takes his shepherd staff and the and five stones for his sling. And he goes out there and fights him, right? Saul was trying to put on the things that uh were the same things that Goliath had, and instead he went, No, I trust in God. Goes out there, fights Goliath, and quickly defeats him. Okay? Sling goes out, rock hits him in the head, falls face first. David goes over, takes Goliath's own sword, and chops off his head. That's something you don't see in the flannel graphs in nursery. They don't have that page over at kids' church. But he goes over, chops off Goliath's head, and then he presents it to Saul, and Saul's like, whoa, right? They are like chasing after the Philistines. Philistines run all the way back to Gath, which is where Goliath is from. Goliath of Gath. And they chase him all the way back to their city. And Saul's like, you're my main guy. You're coming home with me. David doesn't even get to go back to his house. Okay? Saul's like, you're immediately in my house. And then David suddenly gets fast tracked into the military. He becomes like Saul's number one head security guy, number one general, marries his daughter, becomes Saul's son-in-law. Everything. And then there starts to be some jealousy that happens where the people start to be like, David's a dude. Look at him. Like Saul, he killed thousands, but David kills like ten thousands, right? And then that started to eat at Saul a little bit. And Saul suddenly started to get jealous and was like, What's happening? Right? I'm gonna lose my kingship to this runt, right? This guy that was just a shepherd boy when I first saw him. Now he's doing like great military battles and things like that. And now I feel threatened because of it, and takes a spear and tries to throw it and kill David as he's worshiping God. And he throws a spear at him, David runs away. Multiple times this happens. David keeps going in front of Saul when he has spears in his hand. Then David then, after many times, he's like, I feel like Saul's trying to kill me. And then it's finally very much confirmed. And then David has to run and flee, and he's on the run from his own king, who put him into in charge of a thousand guys, and instead, then uh David is on the run like uh FBI most wanted. Right? And this is where we're coming into this. So we're gonna be in 1 Samuel 21. If you have your Bibles, go ahead and turn, it'll also be on the screen. 1 Samuel 21. Says this. This is right after he said goodbye to Jonathan, his best friend, and also Saul's son. Says this. David went to the town of Nob to see Ahimelech, the priest. Ahimelech trembled when he saw him. Why are you alone? He asked. Why is no one with you? The king has sent me on a private matter, David said. He told me not to tell anyone why I'm here. I have told my men uh when to meet me later. Now, what is there to eat? Give me five loaves of bread or anything else you have. We don't have any regular bread, the priest replied, but there is the holy bread which you can have if your young men have not slept with any women recently. Don't worry, David David replied, I never allow my men to be with women when they are on the on a campaign. And since they stay clean, even in ordinary trips, how much more is on this one? Since there was no other food available, the priests gave him the holy bread, the bread of the presence that was placed before the Lord in the tabernacle. It had just been replaced the day with fresh bread. So, this bread was called uh show bread, and it's something that they made daily, and it was presented there for God, being like this is for mostly the priests to have bread, and they would eat it in front of God, like to have like a communion, right? That we have with God in his presence, we're sitting down with God and eating with him. Okay, and that was sort of the symbol of it. And this is for mostly the priests, as they have this fresh bread. Now, sometimes this fresh bread, uh, if it wasn't eaten, it would uh they you don't put the showbread out old the next day. It's like bagels at the bakery, right? Like those are gone, right? And those can be eaten or whatever later. But this show, this showbread, if it's fresh in front, this is like for eating in front of God. And they can see that David is like not doing well. They already know they're like, whoa, hey man, like what's going on, right? If we see like the Secretary of Defense show up all disheveled, and you're like, what's going on? Like, what's happening? And it's like, oh yeah, I'm on a secret mission, right? Like, oh okay, sure. Like they can see that something's wrong. And David lies to them. He's in, he had the good sense to go to the tabernacle. He's like, I gotta be with near God, right? But then he's caught up by fear, and he immediately lies to the priest and deceives them. And sees that, like, hey, uh, you got any food? And they're like, sure, yeah, we got food. It's the it's the special food, right? But sure, we have that. And he's out of fear, he's lying about I I got guys outside, right? They're coming, they're coming to come meet with me. But uh for for right now, can I get those five loaves of bread? And they're like, sure, man, that's fine. As long as like your um cleanse, like uh through the temple, right? Like you are you're clean, they're like, oh yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm I'm fine. And so are my guys too. They're just right outside. And he's just lying to the priests, right? And it's out of fear. The priests see that David's in need and they give him the holy bread. They give it to the needy, even though religious formality would not allow it. So Pastor Stephen last week talked about mercy, right? He talked about how there was a balloon up here, and the balloon's name was Forrest, right? And Forrest did something bad and ate all the donuts, right? And Forrest the balloon deserved to get popped, right? And boom, right in front of us. But what's mercy is not popping the balloon that's name's Forest, right? And instead showing mercy of something that we would like, but we don't deserve, right? So the priests understand this, and just like in the verse that Stephen shared yesterday, Hosea 6, 6 says, I want you to show love, not offer sacrifices. I want you to know me more than I want burnt offerings. Okay, the priests knew this, right? Even though Hosea wrote this later, right? The priests knew this truth that it was important to love the people around you more than give sacrifices to God. And this is quite literally a sacrifice to God. And there's David who's needy, and they give this and show mercy to David by giving him this food. And David, through the face of this, of seeing this mercy, still deceives and lies to them. But even with the help of God's people, he still lied out of his fear that he had. Fear can often blind us from trusting in God. He continues on in 1 Samuel 21 8, where it says, David asked Ahimelech, the priest, Do you have a spear or sword? The king's business was so urgent that I didn't even have time to. Grab a weapon. I only have the sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you killed in the valley of Elah, the priest replied. It is wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod. Take that if you want it, and there is nothing else here. There is nothing like it, David replied. Give it to me. So David escaped from Saul and went to King Akish of Gath. Okay, so David was just shown this mercy, given this bread, and then he goes, Any, you got a weapon? Anything. Like he's on the run. He has nothing, nobody, he can't go home, right? He's already been spied on. That's something that I didn't cover. Saul has already like staken out his house. He can't go home. Okay? He's already like, he he did the joke where you put like a statue under a blanket and then pretend it's you sleeping. He already did that, right? He already gave him the slip. So he's on the run, can't see his wife, can't see his kids, can't go home, can't go back to where his dad lives in Bethlehem, because that's definitely watch two. Like Saul is going to kill him. And Saul's using all of his resources to do so. And David runs, he gets to the tabernacle and says, You got food, you got anything? And they're like, Yeah, here you go. What's going on? He's like, Oh no, no, no, I'm on the up and up, don't worry. Uh yeah, and just deceives and lies. And then he goes, Do you have a do you have a sword? Do you have anything? They go, Yeah, man, we got the sword of Goliath, right? Like the big sword that you cut off Goliath's head. And in this moment that you would think David would think back to that time, you see it again. You have to be thinking about that time. You're like, oh man, I killed Goliath with his own sword, right? And in this moment that you would be thinking about the time that he fully relied on God, not on his own strengths, but on what God did, that that would be a pull back in his own memory back to that time. But instead, he goes, I need that sword because that sword is cool, right? There's no other sword like it. It's like the best-made sword. I'll take it. And starts looking at the sword, not as a symbol of what he did in the past and going, I don't need the sword, right? I got God. He didn't have the sword when he fought Goliath the first time. He had a stone and a stick. But instead, he goes, I need that sword, give it to me, and takes it. And then they let him go and he goes off and goes to the city of Gath, where he tries to hide out there. And as he's there, he gets captured. So David, similar to Luke Skywalker, David relied on God and defeated the enemy. And then you see that he then relies on himself, lies and deceives, goes in there, takes from the priests, lies to them, and then gets the sword of Goliath and then goes to Goliath's hometown. He is now at this point, essentially, through the the Old Testament author's uh recollection, he is Goliath now. He is, he took on the sword, he took on the the hometown, he now is deceiving all around, right? So he is now taking on, he is now wearing the Luke Skywalker black robes, right? And we go, what is happening? Right? Like how far he slid. He used to fully rely on God in everything through the good times and the bad, right? When when he was seeing Goliath, they were like, Hey, have you ever fought anything before? He's like, I fought a bear, which essentially seems like if someone's like, Have you ever raised a kid? And you're like, I have a dog, right? You're like, not the same thing, right? Like a bear, you fought a bear, but then you're gonna fight a gala a giant who has been like a war-fighting person since his age of like 16, right? Highly different, but sure, man. And he relied on God in that moment, but in this moment he doesn't. Because he has fear that's just like has a chokehold on him, and it won't let him go, and he's just relying solely on what he can do. He's panicking. And in this moment, he sees that he gets caught and he's captured by the Philistines. And essentially the sword did nothing, right? His own, his own prowess and his own strength with Goliath's sword still gets him captured. He's still captured in Gath. And then we're gonna transition over to Psalm 56, because this is his prayer. It says this, Oh God, have mercy on me, for people are hounding me. My foes attack me all day long. I am constantly hounded by those who slander me, and many are b are boldly attacking me. He's rough in the middle of it. He's like, people are attacking me, everything. I can't get relief, right? Like that's just constant. But David has a change of heart in his prayer. Psalm 56, 3 continues on. But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. I praise God for what he has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me? They're always twisting what I say, they spend their days plotting to harm me, they come together and spy on me, watch my every step, eager to kill me. Don't let them get away with their wickedness. In your anger, O God, bring them down. You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book. My enemies will retreat when I call to you for help. This I know. God is on my side. I praise God for what he has promised. Yes, I praise the Lord for what he has promised. I trust in God. So why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me? I will fulfill my vows to you, O God, and will offer a sacrifice of thanks for your help. For you have rescued me from death. You have kept my feet from slipping. So now I can walk in your presence, O God, in your life-giving light. Prayer refocuses our hearts on God and pushes out fear. In this moment, when David had his whole world crashing around him, everything he built up, everything God had built up for him, all of a sudden was crashing down around him where you gotta be thinking, he's going, I was supposed to be king. Samuel came over and appointed me. God, come on, right? It must have been something wrong because this wouldn't be happening if that's true. Why is Saul, who if I'm the king, why he's king, right? Why is it that he's trying to kill me? And now I'm running away. I can't go home. I can't see anyone that I know and love. I can't get any support from anyone. I had to lie to priests to get bread, and even then I got captured. And they're like beating me and they're they're treating me awful, and I'm going to die in the Philistine town. What's happening? And in that moment when there's fear and everything, and he's like, God, like this is terrible, but I won't be afraid and I will trust in you. That's only focus that you get from prayer. Because otherwise you're panicking and you're just going on your own strength and you're not relying on God because prayer refocuses our hearts on God and pushes out fear. This David knows, he said, This I know. If God is on your side, why be afraid of anything? If you think, uh, if you have a direct plug-in from a power plant, are you ever gonna run out of power? That power plant's going, right? Do you have to be afraid of the dark? Only if it like over-surges and your light bulb breaks, right? But you got a supply of light bulbs and you're connected directly to a power plant. That thing's not going out. Only if you separate your house from that power plant and you sever the connection between it, right? But you have that connection to that power plant, you're good. You don't have to be afraid of the dark. Keep your lights on 24-7, right? You don't have to see a shadow in the world, just blast the whole place with light, 26 lumen or whatever, you know, like lumen, like million lumen, whatever it is. I don't know the scale. Okay, but if you have that connection, you don't have to be afraid of the dark. So then David's understanding this and saying, if I, if God is on my side, why be afraid? Because truly, he already fought Goliath, right? And it wasn't because he was so strong, it was because he relied on God. So then he had to get back to that point where he truly couldn't, his own strength wouldn't do it. And it was in that moment that he goes, I I actually have to rely on God. Like I can't do it on my own. And it's in that moment that he was no longer afraid because he was relying on God. He reconnected his house to the power plant. This is the difference between David and Saul. David's a man after God's own heart. It's not because he didn't mess up. David messes up many times. You can read 1 and 2 Samuel. He messes up constantly. But the thing is, is that he reconnects himself to God and says, God, I'm sorry, and turns around. That's what repentance is. It's you're walking one way and you realize I'm in the wrong way, I'm going the wrong way. And you turn around 180 degrees and you walk the other way. I used to uh deliver pizzas. Peter will know this, right? Peter does it. And if you find out that you're on the wrong road, you don't just keep going down that road. The person's house isn't over that way. You gotta turn around and figure out which way you're actually going. And I used to deliver pizzas in a town that had terrible roads that you couldn't figure out to save your life. And if you're going the wrong way, it doesn't help you to keep going. You have to turn around and go the other way. And David does that. And he prays in the midst of when everything is going wrong around him, he relies on God. And in the end of this story, David gets out of it because he doesn't trust on his own strength. He actually is humiliating himself. He starts drooling down his beard, which in this culture, your beard had to be like pristine. Okay? Your beard was like a status symbol, right? I have a good beard. If you were gonna disgrace somebody, you'd pluck out their beard to show, like, ha ha ha, you are not us quite a man, right? And you had to have this nice beard. He's drooling down his beard and he's acting out of his mind. And it's because he's no longer relying on his own strength that he gets out of it. And the king, he's brought before the king of Gath, and the king's like, I don't need another like guy like this. Send him out, let him go. And it's because he's relying on God that he gets out of this situation. Psalm 34 actually records David's praise about getting out of it. Right? This is when he sees himself in the very middle of his misery in Gath. And then Psalm 34 is him being like, Praise Jesus, you got me out of it. Except he didn't say praise Jesus, because Jesus wasn't like quite born yet. Right? He's saying, Praise God, you got me out of it. I don't know how, but you did. You're awesome. And in this moment, we can learn from David. We're gonna get back into a time of worship and we're gonna have a time to pray. We have a chance to worship and pray together. If you're in a hard time right now, pray. That's what David was doing. The thing that he avoided doing, we can now do. Okay? We are in the house of God, just as David was in the tabernacle, and instead of him coming forward and being like, I gotta pray, right? Instead, he was going after and trying to do it on his own strength. But we have a chance that we can now pray. There's this altar, these steps, right, that we can come before God. If you need to worship worship and pray to God, do it. We have this awesome opportunity to, and it doesn't have to be in a church that we're praying either. Pray constantly, in your house, in your work, in your car, anywhere, right? We have the we have the ability to come to God and offer him anything at any time. If you're disconnected from God and from God's will, turn back. Repent. And that can be that you're sharing with someone next to you, someone that you know, or just in your own heart. You can see that you have been relying on Goliath's sword and you're asking, like, God, I do you have a sword? Right? Can I do this on my own? Do you have something that I can do that I can I can pull myself up from my own boob straps? And instead, God's saying, I would rather you turn away from your own uh thinking that you can do it on your own volition and your own way, and turn around and start following after me and rely on me. And then also we have something that David didn't have when he was in Gath, is we have a community of believers around us. We're gonna have some people up here that are able to pray with us. If you're in that moment and you're you feel disconnected or you feel that you are uh in a hard time in your life, we have people around us that we can help support and encourage you and pray with you during these times. Because even though it may feel like the world's falling around us and we have uh people coming after us in this way, David, this this fear was not abstract. This was very real. Okay, and our fear does not feel abstract to us, it's in our lives and it's genuinely happening to us. So what do we do? And we can rely on the people around us in the same way, genuine believers of God who can help encourage us and help us along in the same way and point us. If we see that uh some of us around us are falling and relying on our own power, then they can help us and gently lead us towards like, hey, seems that you need some help. Right? The priests did it. They said, hey, I don't fully believe you, but sure, here's some bread and move past the religious formality and and just speak to the actual need of the people. So we'll have some people up here that are able to pray with us. But I would encourage you, if you feel that you are in fear or you are trying to rely solely on your own strength, pray to God. That's the thing that brought David out of it was he prayed. He wasn't relying on his own strength or on his on what he could do. He relied on God and turned away from what he was doing, and then relied on God. So we're gonna have a time of worship and prayer that we're gonna come together and do that. Let's pray. God, thank you for even the moments that we do turn away, you let us turn around and come back to you. Even though we don't deserve it, even though we've lied and deceived like David, you let us turn around and come back to you. Help us to have a repentant heart. And if we can't see it, God help someone around us to gently lead us towards the truth that you have for us. God, help us in those moments that are hard, that we are afraid and we just we know what needs to happen. God help us to rely on you and pray. Having that direct connection to you. We thank you, God. Well, church, tonight, I just want to take this moment before we before we conclude. I want to encourage you to pray. You know, maybe maybe you might be feeling here tonight, you say, I can't write great songs. I don't even know hardly how to talk to my friends. Well, here's the thing about prayer. Just start talking to God. David, David didn't start by writing songs. He started just by crying out to God. And so I want to encourage you this week. I don't know about you, but there's oftentimes ding-ding-ding times that I get self-reliant. And I know you do the same. But what if this week every time we caught ourselves depending on ourselves? We should have to what we're doing. Right? Wouldn't that be I think that'd be a really important step for us to take this week? Maybe maybe you got a big test and you've been studying hard. Have you prayed about it? Maybe maybe you got an interview this week and you've been prep you've been prepping your your uh your resume and making calls and references. But if you stop to pray, maybe you're having some disagreements in your home. And you know, my wife said to me the other day, she goes, you know, Stephen, sometimes we talk about a lot of things. But we need to do a better job of when we talk about those things and taking them before the Lord. That's a wise woman. George, we just we gotta start, and I I just want to say to you whatever you have to say to God, he wants it to hear it. He wanted to hear it, he wanted to hear from you. That's what I want you to practice this week. You won't be David by tomorrow. You won't be losing water with a light. Father in the name of Jesus. Thank you. Thank you for this body. It's not walls, it's not a roof. It's not a foundation. It's not even a place. Lord help us as we to learn how to rely on you. Forgive us like David. When we look to these things to try to figure it out on our own instead of just stopping and crying out to you. Lord give us eyes to see and ears to hear. God help us to be in conversation with you every day. God, thank you that as we do and as we rely on you and turn back to you, God, that you will help us through those marriage issues, you will help us through our family issues, you'll help us through what's going on at work, you'll help us through what's going on at school, you'll help us through every every moment. As we surrender and rely upon you. God, I thank you for your precious word. We love and honor you above all in Jesus' mighty name.
