three scriptures here. 00:00:29.679 --> 00:00:32.799 And this is just to set the stage for this message today. 00:00:33.039 --> 00:00:38.399 And the scripture says this they took offense at him, that being Jesus. 00:00:38.640 --> 00:00:40.960 People were offended at Jesus. 00:00:41.119 --> 00:00:51.840 And Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honor, except in his own home, in his own town, in his own space. 00:00:52.079 --> 00:00:57.359 And I want you to realize what comes after that, what comes after this verse here. 00:00:57.439 --> 00:01:08.640 It says, He did not do many miracles, or he didn't do any mighty works that we know Jesus could have accomplished because of their lack of faith. 00:01:09.200 --> 00:01:12.640 And a prophet's not without honor, except in his own hometown. 00:01:12.719 --> 00:01:21.200 And it's no coincidence that this verse comes after they didn't do these mighty works that he had planned, that he had wanted to do. 00:01:45.680 --> 00:01:53.200 So why was he able to do all this great mighty works in Capernaum and not in his own hometown? 00:01:53.439 --> 00:02:06.239 For me, that's an incredible question because if any place I'd want to do miracles, if any place I'd want to see mighty works, it would be in my own hometown. 00:02:06.480 --> 00:02:10.960 And we're going to discuss this today, so I'm excited to have you with us. 00:02:11.120 --> 00:02:18.319 I'd like to talk to you today about a spirit of honor and the power of the spirit of honor. 00:02:18.400 --> 00:02:31.360 When you get a hold of a principle, when you get a hold of this spiritual principle, and you hold on to it, you protect it, you learn it, you study it, it will begin to change your life. 00:02:31.520 --> 00:02:34.800 It will begin to produce in you a life change. 00:02:34.879 --> 00:02:40.800 And the Bible says that miracles will accompany this particular principle. 00:02:41.039 --> 00:02:58.400 I'm also convinced that as much as it will benefit you if you do not realize the spirit of honor, if you do not, if you step into a spirit of dishonor, it will limit your life and the life of future generations. 00:02:58.960 --> 00:03:04.800 So when we carry a spirit of honor, we develop a culture of honor, we are better. 00:03:05.039 --> 00:03:19.039 Now, we've been in a collection of talks here at KCC that we've called during this patio season, and we're talking about this individual values that we carry and we aspire towards. 00:03:19.199 --> 00:03:38.319 It's important that we know what we value, it's important that we know what we hold on to because the things that we value and the things we hold on to are the things that we'll pour our resource into, the things that we'll uh we'll place education in, we'll we'll get knowledge in. 00:04:10.879 --> 00:04:28.560 Well, today we'd like to spend some time talking about the value of honor, the culture of honor in our hearts, in our lives, in our homes, where we honor up, we honor down, and we honor, honor, honor, honor, honor, honor all around. 00:04:28.720 --> 00:04:32.639 That's where we want to live, that's where we want to walk. 00:04:33.120 --> 00:04:38.000 Honor is a fascinating subject to study, to practice. 00:04:38.240 --> 00:04:45.920 And sometimes, if you're not familiar with the depth of it, it can just be reduced to simply agreement. 00:04:46.160 --> 00:04:52.000 If you honor something, something or someone, then you're in agreement with that individual. 00:04:52.240 --> 00:04:54.399 But that is not the case. 00:04:54.639 --> 00:04:58.399 I want to propose to has very little to do with agreement. 00:04:58.639 --> 00:05:06.560 In fact, if we look at the life of Daniel, he learned to honor Nebuchadnezzar. 00:05:06.800 --> 00:05:14.399 And I don't believe that Daniel agreed with everything Nebuchadnezzar did, but Daniel learned honor. 00:05:14.720 --> 00:05:18.319 Joseph learned honor with Pharaoh. 00:05:18.560 --> 00:05:20.319 He learned to honor Pharaoh. 00:05:20.480 --> 00:05:26.480 It doesn't mean he agreed with everything Pharaoh did, but he learned honor in his heart. 00:05:27.279 --> 00:05:29.680 So honor is an attribute. 00:05:29.920 --> 00:05:32.160 It's something that I can't show you. 00:05:32.319 --> 00:05:36.399 It's something I can't pull out of my pocket and say, this is honor right here. 00:05:36.879 --> 00:05:43.439 Honor is an attribute, and it's an attribute closely associated with royalty. 00:05:43.920 --> 00:05:53.199 And someone who is defined by this royalty carries oftentimes power, glory, and honor. 00:05:53.439 --> 00:06:03.680 Power, a scepter, glory, a crown, an honor, an attitude, and a stature of heart that you need to uncover in your life. 00:06:04.000 --> 00:06:08.639 Honor is complex and yet simple at the same time. 00:06:09.199 --> 00:06:12.639 Some of you may have never heard this before. 00:06:13.120 --> 00:06:17.839 But when we were called, we were called to be a royal 00:06:44.160 And when you were moved into that new kingdom, you were actually adopted as a son to the king. 00:06:44.480 --> 00:06:47.360 That makes you a prince, a princess. 00:06:47.519 --> royal nation, a holy nation, where everyone in this place is actually royalty. 00:07:28.560 --> 00:07:42.399 That means if you look around a church, anyone who has made a decision to follow Christ and has moved into that new kingdom, the kingdom of heaven, the kingdom of God, they become royalty. 00:07:42.720 --> 00:07:58.240 So each person, each individual who's probably listening today, you're going to carry honor in your heart, honor in your stature, honor in your gesture, honor in your language for other people. 00:07:58.720 --> 00:08:04.079 You are going to be the kind, the type of people that dispense it wherever you go. 00:08:04.800 --> 00:08:17.920 So imagine for a moment, what would it look like if the church, every individual identified by Christ, walked in honor, walked as live in a generation where there's a growing popularity to actually live dishonorably and to show dishonor towards people. 00:08:59.360 --> 00:09:02.639 It's actually celebrated, it's actually encouraged. 00:09:02.799 --> 00:09:06.000 The greater shock of dishonor, the better. 00:09:06.399 --> 00:09:13.120 As much as we can raz and hate on people and throw shade on an individual, the better. 00:09:13.360 --> 00:09:23.679 It's an agenda to bring everyone down to a common place where the Bible says we are people who are supposed to be giving honor. 00:09:23.840 --> 00:09:25.759 That means not everyone is common. 00:09:25.840 --> 00:09:29.279 There are people in our lives who we are supposed to honor. 00:09:29.519 --> 00:09:35.279 It's not common for an employee to be speaking the life, I remember after church on a Sunday, my we would get together and we'd be in the car and we'd be hungry. 00:10:31.039 --> 00:10:33.519 Everyone knows that's Sunday lunch syndrome. 00:10:33.759 --> 00:10:39.360 And we'd be in the vehicle, and we would say, you know, where do you want to go for lunch? 00:10:39.519 --> 00:10:44.559 And one of us would say, Red Robin, another would say, you know, Burger King. 00:10:44.720 --> 00:10:52.080 Another would say, uh, like, you know, let's go home, because my mom would make great cooking, like she knew how to cook. 00:10:52.320 --> 00:10:58.879 And uh my dad would just look at his wallet and he'd open it up and he'd say, no, we're going to McDonald's. 00:10:59.039 --> 00:11:02.960 Like that's, and he made, he gave everyone a voice. 00:11:03.200 --> 00:11:08.159 He respected and he honored everyone in the vehicle, but at one point he made the decision. 00:11:08.320 --> 00:11:09.840 He was behind the steering wheel. 00:11:09.919 equality, but one person had a voice, and we honored that voice. 00:11:23.440 --> 00:11:29.120 I was taught in my life to honor property, to honor people, to honor authority. 00:11:29.360 --> 00:11:48.879 And I've watched people today carry this spirit, and perhaps you're carrying it too, where a spirit that has become comfortable with dishonor. 00:11:49.279 --> 00:11:52.080 And today I want to just root this out. 00:11:52.320 --> 00:11:54.240 I want to talk to you about a better way. 00:11:54.399 --> 00:12:02.320 I want to talk to you about an honorable way, a way that we were called to live that is greater than the way of dishonor. 00:12:02.559 --> 00:12:11.840 And it's sometimes it's not manifest or it doesn't come out as uh as obviously as you may expect. 00:12:12.000 --> 00:12:13.840 Sometimes this is so subtle. 00:12:14.320 --> 00:12:29.360 It's not manifest not by uh not by just not doing what you were asked to do, but it's possible to actually carry a spirit of what you were told to do. 00:12:40.320 --> 00:12:59.279 And if you were told to do something, but you're muttering under your breath, you were told to do something, but you're rolling your eyes, or you're slouching your shoulders, or you're just doing it out of like compulsion, um, shrugging your shoulders because you're upset that you have to do it, then it's a spirit of dishonor. 00:13:01.519 --> 00:13:05.519 In my house, in my home, dishonor was not tolerated. 00:13:05.759 --> 00:13:07.440 It was just not tolerated. 00:13:07.519 --> 00:13:18.320 And I can tell you, it was something my parents aggressively rooted out of our hearts because they did not want us living in this space of dishonor. 00:13:18.480 --> 00:13:40.399 And if because they knew that if a child learns to dishonor their family, learns to dishonor their parents, then one day they're gonna walk into an environment like a job and think it's okay to dishonor their boss, and think it's okay to tell them how they're feeling, and just begin to give them a piece of their mind. 00:13:40.480 --> 00:13:47.120 And what happens is then the boss turns around and shows them the exit and shows them the way out. 00:13:47.440 --> 00:13:52.399 And it's not a surprise that the boss will do that if they've learned dishonor. 00:13:52.799 --> 00:13:56.639 So we need to build families who realize honor. 00:13:57.360 say what Jesus, come back to Jesus here. 00:14:31.200 --> 00:14:33.679 Jesus is in his own hometown. 00:14:33.919 --> 00:14:37.840 And he says, in my own hometown I'm not honored. 00:14:38.240 --> 00:14:43.200 And if you read the story, the story says virtually that it shut him down. 00:14:43.440 --> 00:14:50.480 And what I'd like to share with you is that dishonor shuts down what God puts in people for you. 00:14:51.519 --> 00:14:55.679 Dishonor will close you off to what they have for you. 00:14:56.399 --> 00:15:05.039 Your attitude of dishonor can shut someone else up in what they had intended to give to you. 00:15:05.360 --> 00:15:06.480 Imagine this. 00:15:06.799 --> 00:15:16.879 Jesus, the Son of God, carrying the miraculous power of the Father here on earth, walks into his hometown. 00:15:17.200 --> 00:15:18.320 What's going to happen? 00:15:18.480 --> 00:15:22.480 And they shut him down, and he couldn't do many mighty works. 00:15:22.720 --> 00:15:24.320 He couldn't do anything. 00:15:24.559 --> 00:15:28.080 And the scripture doesn't say that he didn't want to heal the sick. 00:15:28.320 --> 00:15:30.559 It doesn't say that he didn't want to do miracles. 00:15:30.639 --> 00:15:35.919 It's that he couldn't do miracles because of their unbelief and their dishonor. 00:15:36.159 --> 00:15:40.559 They were dishonoring him as God in the flesh, ready to do connected to your reward in life. 00:18:20.880 --> 00:18:33.839 So people of this generation, young adults, young people, men, women, singles, married couples, seniors, everyone needs to understand I'm not going to enter into their acts. 00:19:38.559 --> 00:19:46.400 I'm not going to engage with that spirit of dishonor because I know how impactful it is on a life. 00:19:46.640 --> 00:19:54.799 Let me just demonstrate for you through a scenario in Scripture how honor actually affects your life. 00:19:54.960 --> 00:19:59.680 And I believe you're going to learn something from this, but honor affects your life. 00:19:59.759 --> 00:20:16.079 And this is actually an Old Testament record from Numbers chapter 12, where Miriam, Aaron, and Moses are having this dialogue together and this conversation and this experience together. 00:20:16.319 --> 00:20:21.440 And the Bible says that Moses is with Miriam, who's the chief worshiper. 00:20:21.599 --> 00:20:28.079 She's the worship leader, Aaron the chief high priest, and Moses the leader. 00:20:28.559 --> 00:20:35.759 And as a leader, the Bible says that he was elevated above his siblings. 00:20:36.240 --> 00:20:39.039 So he was the one worthy of honor. 00:20:39.599 --> 00:20:49.920 And he decided to marry an Ethiopian woman, a different nationality, a different race, a different color skin. 00:20:50.079 --> 00:20:54.079 And this really became an issue for Miriam and Aaron. 00:20:54.240 --> 00:20:56.559 And the siblings did not like it. 00:20:56.720 --> 00:21:06.960 Aaron, Miriam didn't agree and started talking behind his back, murmuring about Aaron, or about Moses and his new wife. 00:21:07.119 --> 00:21:08.720 And so he's talking about Moses. 00:21:09.039 --> 00:21:11.440 They're talking about Moses and his new wife. 00:21:11.680 --> 00:21:18.960 And the scripture says this really clearly: that the Lord heard what they were saying. 00:21:20.240 --> 00:21:24.160 He heard what they were saying, that it wasn't a secret to him. 00:21:24.480 --> 00:21:33.599 And don't think that you get a special pass, and that God all of a sudden goes silent when you entertain dishonor towards people. 00:21:33.839 --> heard Miriam and Aaron, and the words mattered, and God heard the spirit of dishonor in their lives. 00:21:55.519 --> 00:22:03.680 So when what happens is when you stop dishonoring and When you start thing you know, you're you're running like a car out of gas. 00:22:43.119 --> 00:22:45.279 You can have everything going for you. 00:22:45.440 --> 00:22:55.839 You can have a beautiful Lamborghini, perfect 2021 Lamborghini sitting, and you can be sitting inside of it. 00:22:55.920 --> 00:23:07.039 It's got every tire, every mechanic, every electrical element, every every uh mechanical feature there, and you can be sitting it and you're not going to move. 00:23:07.200 --> 00:23:10.240 And you're not going to move because you're out of gas. 00:23:11.039 --> 00:23:16.319 And the gas, it's that's the way it is when you when you live in a spirit of dishonor. 00:23:16.480 --> 00:23:19.440 It's like you're sitting in a car that's out of gas. 00:23:19.680 --> 00:23:28.000 Everything could be going around you, be there, available for you, but if you don't have the gas, you're not going to move. 00:23:29.039 --> 00:23:32.079 And what happens is that the Lord heard. 00:23:33.119 --> 00:23:34.640 The Lord heard. 00:23:35.039 --> 00:23:38.319 And they were empty because they were carrying this dishonor. 00:23:38.480 --> 00:23:41.519 The Lord heard and came to came to Moses.
