This podcast started as a simple idea, one we believe God has blessed and expanded to reach far beyond what we imagined. This isn’t just another podcast; every conversation is recorded with you in mind!
We’re three young adults talking honestly about Jesus, faith, and the real struggles of life. Because the truth is, being saved and walking through sanctification isn’t easy. It’s messy, it’s challenging, and it’s deeply real.
Join us as we share, laugh, wrestle, and grow together.

SPEAKER_02

Welcome back, everybody. Um this is one of your hosts, Alyssa, and I've got Mike and Janae here with me too. And we're gonna be talking today about our podcast and just kind of how it got started, you know, Saved and Sanctified, how we came up with the name, just kind of the why behind it. So I think it's important for us to just talk about like our mission and like um just what why we're doing what we're doing. So we want to make sure there's a purpose to it and people who are listening can know that purpose. So yeah, I'm excited for today.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, thanks, Alyssa. Of course, awesome introduction. So I'm here for well, how do we get started? Hmm. For m I mean, it was for me, I I was gonna start a podcast when I first started with young adults. Um, but it wasn't gonna be how it is now. I think it was just gonna be like one or two episodes here and there. I know I talked with Mike about it, and I just thought, oh, this would be a good outlet for like us as a young adults group to like get the word out and kind of be able to sit here and discuss life, discuss the faith, uh things that we've we're going through, like tough situations. I just think sometimes, like, I know on a Wednesday or a Friday night or a Sunday morning, we don't really get to talk too much about everything that we're studying or the things that we're learning. And I felt like, well, maybe we could do this podcast to where whatever I'm teaching on Friday, it'll like kind of match what we're um talking about on the podcast. Um I mean, it hasn't really worked that way.

SPEAKER_02

But one day.

SPEAKER_03

But maybe, yeah, I mean that that could be the future, which would be awesome. But I know for me, I just kind of wanted us to have that outlet to where maybe I could get one or two young adults on here and talk about what we're learning about. Um, and you know, now it's like kind of turned into um I mean, like we're we've been interviewing different leaders from here at Quail, uh different young adults also. And what I like about it and what I see God doing in this is really bringing us together. I'm able to talk to different leaders within Quail and say, you know what, I think that you would be really good at talking about this certain topic, or I've learned a lot from you in this area, I would like you to speak on that. And I think it's been working out really well. I also like the fact that it's not just young adults, it's like I said, different leaders, you know, we've had Pastor Mark, we've had Robin, we've had Freya, we've had Lee, I mean we've had Andres. And I think it's also a good way for us to kind of get to know like the people here at Quail. Like, you know, not not everyone knows Andres in our young adults, and then when people see him up on the screen, like, oh, this is one of our missionaries for Quail, and then then they see that we have an episode with him, they can go listen in on that, or they see that Lee uh Robinson is helping out with young adults, like, who is this guy, Lee? And we have an interview there, and you know, we got Pastor Mark on there, which is awesome just to hear some knowledge and wisdom from him on the church in general and what his vision is. I mean, how often do you get to sit down with one or two of these people from the church and actually hear what's going on inside, you know? So I th I like what what's been going on. Um, and I know I think one thing about my vision is like I do have plans, but I'm also open to whatever the Lord has in store for us, and I think that he's gonna do great things with this, not just for young adults too. I think for the whole church, it's accessible for everyone. And I know that I've had people come and talk to me, like, wow, I thought that was great, like this one episode, or even like Alyssa having interactions during Bible study, like, oh, you guys talked about this during one of your episodes, and it really touches base with what we're learning today, and I think that's awesome to see too, because I think that's definitely the Lord has his hand on that to where we can talk about something, post it, and then it relate to something later on that we end up studying. Like, I think that's great to see.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's true. And I know before we got started, Mike and I were talking a lot about a podcast. You had told me that we had this podcast room at the church, and I was like, Are we gonna have a podcast? And you're like, I would like to, and I was like, I think we should have a podcast. Like, cause I know for me, like, I mean, once I hit 20, it was just like, okay, I I know the Bible, I've studied the Bible my whole life, I've grown up in the church, like I know all the things, but how do I actually apply that in my life? Like, what does that actually look like? And I just feel like all the podcasts that were coming out during like COVID era, like that was when everyone was becoming a podcaster. It was like, yeah, these are fun, and everyone's like talking about the Bible, but who's gonna tell me what it actually looks like for me to go day to day having a big girl job, working in a career, you know, building a family, like doing whatever you do in your 20s, but also like how am I supposed to do that as a Christian, as like a true believer of Christ? Like, how am I supposed to bring biblical principles into my life? And that was one of the things that I was like, I would love for there to be a podcast out there. And if I gotta make it, then I gotta make it and put it out there so that someone else doesn't have to wonder. You know, and that's one of the things that I love about this is I feel like we kind of all have that common goal of like, we just want to one spread the word of the gospel and just you know, we love talking about Jesus, we'll talk about him for days. And this is kind of just like a way for us to do that, but also to do it in a meaningful way and kind of unpack some questions that we hear a lot of the times. You know, we're all leaders in different ministries, and you know, we have different careers and jobs, and I think that all those factors really give us like almost an edge. And it's just like we get multiple perspectives, and then we bring in guests all the time, and so we're getting those perspectives, and I think that that's just kind of been one of the fun things to get to do is be able to have those people come up to us and say, Hey, I really liked that episode, I've never thought of it that way. Or, you know, they're starting to be like, Oh, that was really cool. I like the way that you broke that down, or the example you gave, or you know, we start to get those feedbacks of like, wow, we're actually having an impact. Like, God is actually using this for his glory.

SPEAKER_02

That's good. I think um, I mean, both of you just yeah, I think who ditto to everything you both have said. There you go. But also, um, I don't know, I like talking about Jesus. I like being able to have a conversation with it, and I think it's um something I had to get used to for a bit, having this mic like right here. But it's also something where I've listened to other people who've had podcasts and I really enjoy it. Um, and why not just share my thoughts and what like the Lord has brought me through? Um, also I've learned like even in the work that I do, my students they find all my stuff. Like they find everything that I do online. Why not? Some of them could be finding my podcast podcast and listen to what I gotta say about Jesus. Hopefully, it's not as boring as they say in my other videos. Because they do say they did say that today at least. But like, why not? And I think also it's like a reminder, because when I'm listening to the podcast, like so far, the episodes we've done, um, it convicts me and reminds me of like you said that. Like it wasn't some other person saying it, like you said that. So you know you believe that. So why are you acting like you don't? Um, yeah, because I think even our mom was like telling us, like, you need to listen to your podcast because the XYZ, like, we were I don't know what we were doing. Oh, yeah. Um, but yeah, like I think it um helps keep me accountable and also doesn't make me feel like alone because a lot of people are interested in actually hearing what we've got to say. And I think it's also maybe more confident in sharing, or yeah, it's maybe more confident in sharing like about God as well, too. So yeah, and I think I do it because also I follow Mikey everywhere, and this was the next thing that we were doing, and you needed a person too. But I love it, I love it. Um yeah, and also just to get people interested or fired up for the in the word, like if they're hearing what we gotta say, then even if they have to pause and go read the Bible to understand what we're talking about, that's okay. Like I want I just want you like in the word and listening um any which way. And yeah, I'm just happy that we have this this resource, even to be able to do it. Um, because not everyone has that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So yeah. Yeah. And we I feel like we kind of roped you into it. Did you on the podcast? It was like Mike was the one that originally told me about the idea in the room, and I was like, Bet, we're gonna do this. And then I was like, okay, who else do we want to have? Like, do we hold auditions or like what do we do? I was like, who has a like a good personality, like sense of humor, would mesh well with us, but also like has I don't want to say good things to say, but like has that spiritual maturity to where they could weigh in on difficult conversations or harder topics. And I know you and me, like we would just go back and forth on our young adult nights, just like yapping to each other, like, so this is what God has been doing with me. Or it's like, so I saw a sign on the side of the road and it really convicted me, and I don't know how to feel about it. And like we would just have those conversations of like going back and forth, and I was like, Oh, I think we found Arthur. I was like, Imagine me and Alyssa on a podcast together, it would be us talking the whole time, yeah, and here we are talking the whole time.

SPEAKER_02

Mikey throws his two cents in.

SPEAKER_03

He does not have to be like, I mean, like I like I I know why. For one, like when I talk to Janae, it never ends. Like, I mean, it'll end eventually, but I'm like, okay, she could talk. So, and then you're one of the leaders too in young adults, so I was like, she'd be perfect. Like, I think I don't think I've ever had a conversation with you that just kind of was led nowhere. It was always like focus on God, and I was like, I like that. And then Alyssa, she's just my sister, and she follows me everywhere, non-resplained. No, but I it's the same. Like, I feel like even at home, like we'll sit there and talk about God. You know, it's never um hard for us to speak on something like that, so that's why I'm glad that you two are part of this, you know. Like, you for sure have the words. Um, I'm not much of a yapper. I mean, maybe maybe in person I'm more of a yapper, I'm not sure. But I think that um it's a great combination the way that we're put together. Um you know, I know the Lord put this together for sure. It's not just me.

SPEAKER_02

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Um, but I think it's just awesome, like I was saying earlier, see how it's just come together. Um and you know, you guys get even next week, you guys get to do your um what do you call it, interview on spiritual warfare. And like, you know, to have two girls speak with two grown, like mature women about this is is perfect because I don't know how I would do sitting there with two grown mature women and talking about something. You know what I mean? I mean, I mean even you with your interview with Robin, I mean I think that was just perfectly put together as well, too. Um, so I yeah, I'm just I'm excited about seeing where this goes, you know. I think there was a lot of stuff like put on there where I feel like some people were doubting it and saying like it's not gonna work because you know we don't have video and whatnot. And for me, I think that was I was like, you know what, God, like I just want I know you're pushing me to do this, let's just put it out there, right? And you know, yeah, it's just audio right now, but you know, if it grows, I mean anything's possible, you know. Right. Um, I just feel like this is a good way to help other people, especially the younger people. I know that like a lot of people, or I mean, people in general are into podcasts, like you were saying, like after COVID hit. I know even me too, I was listening to podcasts, but I just wanted to put something out there that was meaningful too, like you were saying, that can actually help people. Um, and I I think about iron sharpens iron, you know, like the stuff that we're talking about is gonna help you grow in your faith, it's gonna help you mature, and you know, it might be something that's on your mind that you don't feel comfortable talking with somebody else with, but we're open to talking about stuff like that. Yeah, that's true.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Also, the ones listening, there's things Mikey Mike has mentioned. Um, they're not quite released yet, so don't be confused. Oh. They're coming out eventually, but they're just things in the in the queue.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. We we have a lot of episodes in store. Yes, we do.

SPEAKER_03

Well, and even that that part, like, I like I went to Pastor Mark about the podcast, right? And I'm like, what what asking for his input, like, how do you think I should do this? And that was some good advice that he gave me too, is he's like, you know, record, record as much as you can, and then release. That way you have stuff to back up just in case, you know, and getting that little advice from him helped us. I know it did, because you know, we're not struggling every week to record, like if something happens, then we're like, oh, we could postpone till another week. Which is I'm grateful for that too, to have some kind of guidance in that way. Because I think if I didn't ask him, and I would have probably just been like, let's just post it, let's get out there, and then we would have these problems, like we would have been struggling with it. Oh, yeah, for sure.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, exactly. Because we know nothing about making a podcast. I mean, I've I've like heard people make that have like talked about podcasts, I've listened to podcasts. My sister-in-law had started doing a podcast for a minute, like right when we were still in the works of this, and I was like, okay, so like how did you do this? What did you do for this? And I was like asking her all these questions because I was like, we gotta like come up with a title, we gotta like come up with a logo and all the things, and I was like, Oh my goodness, it's time to get my creative juices flowing. And I think what did I give you like seven or eight options for the name, for the title, well, and the logo too. Yeah, I was just like, I'm gonna start throwing everything in a notebook and just like start jotting down ideas, and you know, the Lord's blessing. We ended with saved and sanctified, yes, which was really that was a funny debate because it was saved and sanctified, and then we were like, mm-hmm. And there was also another podcast that's saved and sanctified on YouTube. Yeah. And so we decided to put N instead of and and I was like, oh, this kind of just like vibes better. Like it's our vibe, like it's I feel like it's more like relaxed and just like chill. And I think that's how we are. This crazy and spastic as I am, I'm also like a very chill person.

SPEAKER_02

Right.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I like the name. Yeah. But I also feel like I mean the meaning behind it too is what I kind of liked. I was, I know like some of the options I was pulling was like I was trying to find ones. I was like, okay, obviously want it to be like biblical bases. So, like, what kind of like biblical words can I pull to make a podcast title out of? And this one I feel like just really kind of embodies like what our goal was, like the direction we wanted this podcast to go in. You know, a lot of our target listeners are those that are already saved. Like you've already accepted the Lord into your heart, He's your Lord and Savior over your life, but now it's like you're going through the sanctification process, like you're trying to live out his principles, like you're learning his word, you're you know, even if you're like still new to the faith, like you're still trying to figure everything out, yeah. And everything just seems big and scary because you got all these seasoned Christians that are still on the struggle bus, you know, no one's perfect, but we can be sanctified. And so I feel like that was a cool mixture for the name. Like I think that's like personally why I liked it was because it just kind of gave that answer, or you know, like we're trying to answer that question of like, how do I live in a world that often pulls me in different directions? And it's like, okay, well, you know, you love the Lord with all your heart, but what does that look like? Instead of just saying it, like, what does it look like?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. And I feel like the from our podcast and what we talk about, it always continues to point back to Jesus. Um, even like saved and sanctified, like we can't save ourselves, it's Jesus that saves us, and we can't sanctify ourselves as like the Holy Spirit, it's God who's sanctifying us. So it still points to him. And I think I always I love that our podcast is very pointed at him. It's not about, I mean, of course, we'll talk about our stories, we'll hear people's stories in general, we're like recording, but I've I've noticed that whenever we like we'll go through a scripture, we'll talk about something, it ends up pointing back to like the gospel and Jesus. Like we're it's like reminding me of like, oh yeah, like just like and I think it's so important for us as believers, even though we are saved, um it's still important for us to remember like the sacrifice that Jesus did. Cause I think when we forget that, then we just get caught up in the world and you know, just then start getting pulled different ways. But when you're hearing when we're able to share like what um we've been through and how the Lord's like brought us through certain things, and I think it I like that. I just like the I'm sure people I'm hoping that people who are listening can relate to that. Yeah. Um, so yeah, and I really do. I love the name. It's really it's really good. We have Janae for sure for the um creativity.

SPEAKER_03

I was gonna say she's probably the core of the apocalypse.

SPEAKER_02

She is because I she's organized. Um, she all the what is it? Like the the titles of our podcast and even just the name or the descriptions, it's all Janae. And in my head, I'm like, is that Chad GBT? She's like, no, it's me. And I'm like, dang, cause I couldn't do that. Like listen, I gotta chat help me in AI.

unknown

I don't trust it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I trust it too much.

SPEAKER_00

I think AI is gonna take over the world. It's been in too many movies.

SPEAKER_02

It's even on people's uh I think I saw something about it, like on people's not TVs or I don't know, some phone thing where it's like, I mean, yeah, it's just everywhere. You're right. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

No, my job tried to roll out a new AI thing called Gemini. Oh. And I was like, no, no, no. No, thank you. I don't I don't need that. It's fine. Well, yeah. They're like, well, but just like throw things like in there. And I'm like, why am I gonna copy and paste things? There's a thing called spell check on my phone. Like, I don't need to put my text into AI for it to clean it up. I think it sounds just fine. Like it's gonna sound like how I talk.

SPEAKER_03

Well, good thing we don't use AI. Yeah, we don't.

SPEAKER_00

We use Janae. Yes. Yeah. No, but I just think this is the best title for us. I don't think we could have picked anything better to kind of really encapsulate.

SPEAKER_03

I don't even know. I don't even remember what I was thinking because honestly, I don't think I even had an idea of what to nameless. And I was just like, I don't know. I I was rolling with whatever you guys had, you know. And that's kind of I was like, okay, I got these two girls. They're gonna be creative, they're gonna know things that they're gonna do things that I don't want to do. And it turned out to be Janae, yes. No, but yeah, I'm grateful for that though, because there are some times where I'm just like, I have no idea what to even say, and you just come up with the best stuff, and I'm like, that's cool. Um, yep, thumbs up. That's the one. Approved.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. Yeah, and some of them I knew were crazy, but I just was like, I felt like I was cooking. I was like, these are so good, and then like saying them out loud, I was like, oh dear, this is not the main one I remember was Podcaster Cares. Oh, uh-huh. And the way YouTube looked at me was foul. I was like, okay, definitely not that one. I was like, I thought that one was when we pick the name.

SPEAKER_03

Was it the first the beating that we had at your house?

SPEAKER_02

It was. Yeah, it took us a while to pick a name because we were like recording and we're like, we don't even know what the name of this is gonna be. We just know we're recording a podcast and we didn't know really what was gonna happen.

SPEAKER_00

We just started yapping about the Bible, and then we finally came around to a name. We're like, yes, gonna add that in. Then we finally like locked in, like, okay, our goal, our name. Then we can make an intro, and yeah, all the things just kind of flowed from there. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

We've learned I think we've learned a lot from where we started, even just like of organizing, like getting together and meeting before we're just just going in, like, yeah, and I think that helps a lot, keeps the flow going for sure.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And all the topics, I mean, I think it just shows how the Lord sanctifies us, you know, like how we when when it says trust in the Lord, the one you're talking about earlier is just like, well, how do we do that? Well, we need to really rely on him, and that's how he changes uh he changes our hearts and our minds, is when we're able to actually do that, you know. And some I mean, we had the friendship conversations. I think it just shows like we do have a part in it, but the Lord is the one that's really gonna take care of all that for us. Yeah, we just have to trust him. That's true. I think that's what a lot of our content is about, too, is about trusting him and like how we how to be obedient in those tough times, and you know, like just good habits to make in life in general to be um a good, I mean, um a good obedient follower of Christ, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's true. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Well, and I feel like it's really unique that most people like they don't have a platform to be able to share like all the lessons and all the knowledge that they're gathering over the years.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Of you know, going to all the Bible studies, and you know, like I've gone to different churches, I've been under different pastors and leaderships, and you know, it's like all those things that we pull along with our different point of views and like our different upbringings too, like it just all comes together, and I just feel like it's so cool to have a platform to be able to like share that versus just like waiting to be invited to like share your testimony somewhere. Oh, yeah. It's like, you know, why not just share all these things? And you know, like I've been asked to speak a few times, and it's always like, okay, God, what do you want me to talk about? What I only have 30 minutes and there's so much I want to talk about. Like, I want to share everything with everyone. Like, I love to talk. And, you know, and I feel like this is like so fun for me because I get to share all that. I get to sit there and think of topics and prey on them as a group. And we come together and we're like, yes, that needs to be talked about. This is a key issue. This is something we're seeing. This is a question I get all the time. And, you know, we build our episodes off of that. And just being able to like compile that list and be like, okay, we're talking about this this week. And I get to sit there and like compile all the things. And I mean, Alyssa and I have talked about this, but it's like even the we'll choose topics that we've already studied years ago. But now that we're re-going through it, we're compiling our thoughts. Now we're like, have I been, have I been doing that? Have I fallen short in that area? And it's like, oh, oh, I'm I'm feeling a little convicted now. Yeah. Or he'll start taking us through things during the week. And it's like, this was so in alignment with what we were getting ready to record about. Exactly. And it's just been such a cool experience because I mean, I've had mentors that they're like, I was gonna preach on this today, but then I've been going through this this week, and I feel like I just need to like share it with you. And that was one of the things that I loved growing up, was like it was so real, it was so raw of them being like, listen, on the truck ride here, like I was struggling, but then here I am, like being obedient, and then he just starts talking about obedience and just preaching a whole word on it, and it's straight fire. And you're like, that was so good. Like, I don't even care what the other thing you had, like fully prepared, like, because that was just raw.

SPEAKER_02

And I think I love that, but yeah, that's true. Yeah, I've loved I love seeing I've loved seeing how since we started recording and figured out topics and all that, it's really tied into what God's like wanting me to well, in a way, sanctify in me, um, or remind me of, um, or even keep me like accountable on to, I think, because I want to be prepared to be able to share the best of my ability and knowledge of like what the Lord's taught me about a certain topic when we're here doing the podcast. So I've gotta really like dig deep and like um it makes me be in my word even more, like it keeps me more accountable because I'm like doing it because it's not just like me learning this and then maybe never sharing it with anyone, but it's like, oh, we're learning this and then we're sharing it on the podcast, and someone's listening, even if it's just us, I'm like, hey, at least it makes like it makes sense. Um yeah, so I really like that a lot. Yeah, it's been fun.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and I think it'd be beneficial to kind of take a second and like break down, like, okay, when we say saved and sanctified, I know they're kind of like churchy words, you know, or what my brother says Christianese, you know, so like what we'll start with Mike. What does it mean to be saved, Pastor Mike?

SPEAKER_03

What does it mean to be saved? I just think about how I used to be, like my old life, and just how it was leading to a path that I felt like I couldn't come back from. And really, when I think of the word saved, I think of coming back from that, where I see I see the importance in my past, but I don't want to dwell in it because the Lord has something new for me and He's created this new thing in me, and I love seeing it grow and grow. It just it it has it brings me hope, it brings me joy, and when I'm able to share like the testimony on that part, I could see people opening up to the Lord to where they're like, That's what I need, I need his help, I need the Lord to bring me out of that dark place. Um like that's what that's how what I think about when we're talking about it, because I know how lost I was, I know how self-centered I was living, and now it's not that way, it's where I'm like, okay, does this glorify the Lord? Does this line up with his word? And not only for my life, but how can I share that with other people, you know? So for uh that's for me, that's what's saved is is about it's like the before and then the after, the saved.

SPEAKER_02

I get that. It's like when we're saved, we're saying that Jesus is the Lord of our lives. We're we're realizing that we are in need of a savior, and um, and we can't do it on our own. And then we that's when we like really call out to Jesus and like confess that he is like the Lord of our lives, and then we continue to live that way. I think that's saved as well, too. But like, yeah, with your testimony and all that. Um I feel like that's what I yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. It is, and one of the ways I remember like my mom explaining and trying to teach me and my brother what being saved was was it's like, okay, when you hear the word saved, what do you think of? And I always thought of like a lifeguard, because they save people that are drowning. And she was like, Yeah, she's like, so just think of the lifeguard as Jesus because he saved us, he rescued us from that penalty of our sinful nature, you know, and we could probably do a whole episode on this, but like being saved, like it's you know, trusting in Jesus, like everything leads back to trusting in Jesus. Every single episode we do, I think, just reverts back to that because that's just the core. Yeah, that's the core of our salvation. You know, it's believing in the death, burial, and resurrection and trusting in that and just loving him for that, and just wanting to honor and serve him, I feel like, is like when we s talk about salvation, like it's a gift, you know. I didn't earn it, I don't deserve it, that's for sure. But it's it's a gift that God offers to every single one of us because he wants to be in relationship with us. And anyone out here, like they that's like our nature, like is to desire to be in relationship with others, with God, you know, like our spirit longs for him, and I feel like once we grab a hold of him, like you never want to let go.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's true.

SPEAKER_00

And you know, and it's like, okay, but now I'm not letting go, but then what do I do? I'm just like hanging here, you know, and I feel like that's kind of where like the sanctification comes into play of like, okay, now you've have the transformed heart, you know, your mind has been renewed, as the Bible will talk about in Romans. And now it's like, okay, I have this desire to conform to God's will, but how do I do that? What does that look like? And you know, it's like God uses his word to speak, like that's his instrument that he uses to like sanctify. And I think maybe a better word is like cleanse, like it's to cleanse us, to cleanse us of that old lifestyle. You know, Mike was talking about how God brings us out of that old life, and I feel like that's part of it. Like, you can't just like all of a sudden overnight, like your whole life is different. That's not how it works. Like, it's a slow burning process of like we gotta pinpoint each thing and burn it up. Yeah, like it's like multiple steps, and I feel like that just is like the sanctification process of like fully giving yourself to God and being like, look, whatever is not of you has to go. Like, get rid of it, like any desire, any, you know, like whether it's language or addiction or whatever it is in your life, like if it's not in the Bible, like it's gotta go. And it's being able to have that mindset and walk that whole process till the end of it, to where you're like, wow, I'm completely free. Like, there's nothing here but Jesus. And I'm still waiting to get that feeling because I feel like it's gonna be crazy. Y'all think I'm a lot already, like I'm gonna be bouncing off the walls. Every other word's gonna be Jesus. You're so funny.

SPEAKER_02

Um, I think it's reminding me of like Pastor Mark was just speaking on he mentioned sanctification. A little bit was talking about it in First Peter, and it was talking about the refining, like how God has this refining process and like the purifying. I think it was first Peter, or it could be another section maybe that he quoted. Um, but I think that that reminds me of like the sanctification where it's like it talks about like how God wants to purify us and to cleanse us and to make us holy, to allow us to be righteous, but it's by us being obedient to him and really bringing him into everything that we're doing and really like dying to ourselves and like what does it say? It's not it's no longer I who live, but it's it's Christ who lives in me. Like it's like literally us taking up our cross and doing that. That's the the process where um I think I know especially in my the beginning of my walk, I didn't realize there was like the sanctification of the pure, like this, like where he's gonna have to like really like dig deep and like uproot things that have been like usual like habits in my life. And um yeah, I think that's why we need to trust in him. We need to um know, like, I mean, when we we realize what Jesus did for us, then it like would make us want to like follow him. Because like we're like, of course, I mean, he gave his whole life for us. Why wouldn't we trust him and follow him? Why wouldn't we allow him to prune things in our lives um or change things? Like, even his thinking reminded me of James too, where it's like all the trials that we deal with. Um we should count it all joy and yeah, like it's like we're gonna go through hard times, but it's like what do we do with it? And it's also us being obedient, allowing God to really like change our hearts and change our minds and our thoughts and just change all like really we're new, we're all new creations, so we have to we have to believe that.

SPEAKER_00

Um, and too, it's like okay, when you say that you're a Christian, it's like, are you pursuing holiness? Like, are you living in obedience? Is that what you're striving for daily, or are you just kind of like complacent? You know, I've worked in youth ministry for a few years now, and a lot of the things I hear is like oh, but like I'm saved, I'm good. I'm like, are you? Because the Bible also talks about being lukewarm and those who, yeah, when you're saved, you're saved like you're locked in. You know, Romans 10 9 talks about if what is it? If you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Like, if you do that, yes, you're saved, you're you have the gift of eternal life, but what are you doing with it? Like, what are you doing with that salvation? Are you is there a transformation? You know, the Bible also talks about like continuously being transformed, allowing God to renew every single thought, taking every thought captive that isn't of Him. You know, and it's like, are you going through the motions of what your life has always been, or are you trying to change it and make it better? And that's why I feel like this title is so cool because it hits both points of like, yes, we everyone in this room is going to heaven. But when I get to the golden gates, is he gonna look at me and say, Well done, thy good and faithful servant? Or is he gonna look at me and cast me down because he never knew me? You know, the Bible talks about he'll spit you out and something, something. Yeah. That's really the only part I know is he spits you out because that's the only part that matters. Because I'm like, I don't want to get spit out. I don't want to know what happens next. Yeah. Because I'm gonna be the good and faithful servant. You know, but it's like God gives us these gifts and these talents and all these things. What are we doing with them? Exactly. Yeah. And I feel like that's part of the sanctification process is learning, okay, what is God giving me? What are what is my purpose? What is his will for my life? And then walking in that obedience, like in obedience to that goal and to that plan that he's laid out before you. Yeah. You know, and it comes in steps too, but it's even if he's like, I want you to do this, it's like, oh, okay, okay. Like I was what 21 and I was like, Lord, I don't like where I'm at. I want to go deeper. And he said, Oh, do you? Made me leave dentistry, hop into full-time ministry. And I'm like, Oh, I'm I didn't like I didn't mean like this. Like, I just meant like with you, I wanted to go deeper. And he's like, It's the same thing. Yeah, and I'm like, but this isn't what I meant. But it's all part of like, will you trust me?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And it, you know, everything goes back to trusting in Jesus. But it really is, it's like, will you trust me? Will you obey? Can I give you the craziest? Like it might sound so crazy to you, but will you obey it? And it's like, sure, yeah. But you're like gripping the seat, you're like, Yes, yes, Lord, I I will. But you know, and I feel like that's all part of living a sanctified life, is like daily being like, okay, God, what do you have in store? Like it, it's gonna be wild today, but I accept it. Like, I will receive it with an open mind and an open heart kind of thing.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's true. That's good. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But I just don't know. I just love this, guys. This is so fun for me. I don't know if you guys can tell by my voice, like, this is just so fun for me getting to be in a room with three of my favorite people. Yes, I included myself in that count. Well, they were including Titus. Oh. Oh, yeah. Oh, yes, of course, Jesus.

SPEAKER_02

I'm just really thankful that God's given us this um this resource to be able to do and giving us the time to be able to do it too. Um yeah, even if it's I don't want to s like speak over and say like if it goes nowhere, but I just really want whoever needs to hear this a podcast to hear it because um No, that's the thing too, is like I've like it's already done stuff.

SPEAKER_03

The the podcast God's already used it and I see it and and I that's why I'm excited for the future because it's like God can do anything with this and I'm ready for that ride, I'm ready for the journey, and you know, I I know that this is gonna help people, and it's I've seen so much happen with my own life that I know that God's gonna do it for them too. So I just like I know if you're looking for something, I mean, we're we stick to the Bible, we share our raw thoughts, we are pretty much open to speaking about anything. Yeah. And uh I hope that helps you guys in some way, because I know it's helped me, even just sitting there listening to our own podcast, and then I'm like, yeah, I need to be about what I'm talking about.

SPEAKER_00

Like, right, exactly. Um I just think it's it's cool, and we're in no way like perfect people, we're just three average people just trying to get through life as a Christian while also glorifying God at the same time. And so we just love that we get to share our insights and there will be many more episodes to come. Yeah. We have a loss in store.

SPEAKER_03

I'm grateful for all you guys.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. And since everything leads back to Jesus, let us pray. Lord, thank you for this time, this opportunity that we just get to glorify you, Lord, and um just be our willing vessels, God, for you to just speak through, Lord, and for you to just um encounter every listener, God. We just ask that you would continue to bless the words that come forth, Lord, that they would just bless generations to come, Father God, um, until the internet dies, Lord, that they would just continue to bless, Lord, because your your word is alive, your word is everlasting, Lord. And as we speak your word and bring it forth, may we be good stewards. May we see the fruit in our lives, Lord God, as well as our listeners' lives. And we just thank you and we ask that you would just bless us as we go about the rest of our days, Lord, and we just give you all the glory, all the praise, and all the honor. Amen. Amen. All right, we'll see you on the next episode. Bye.
