Welcome back to Saved and Sanctified. Tonight's topic is trusting in the Lord. Right? Yes. All right, that's our topic.
SPEAKER_02Before we start, I want to just pray. Uh, thank you, Lord, so much for just allowing us to be able to have this platform to just share um what it is, what it means for us to trust in you, Lord. I just pray that you allow your spirit just to flow through us and allow those who are listening to just um be convicted or impacted by um what it is that you say in your word that allows us to grow closer to you, Lord. And I just pray this all in Jesus' name. Amen.
SPEAKER_03Amen.
SPEAKER_01Amen.
SPEAKER_02So trusting in God. Yeah, trusting in the Lord.
SPEAKER_01This is this is an interesting topic. I was like, where do we take it? Where do we go with this? I feel like there's so many directions we could have taken it, but I feel like a good starting place is Proverbs chapter three, verse five and six. That was kind of the first verse that like popped into my head when I was like, okay, what verses are on trusting the Lord? Like, because you know, it kind of goes along with like your faith and like obedience and all those things, all those disciplines. And so I was like, okay, where do we start? Where do we go? And so this is kind of the first verse that popped up to me. And it says, Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways, submit to him, and he will make your path straight.
SPEAKER_03That's good.
SPEAKER_01Just let that sit for a second. Just let that cook. It's such a good verse. It just shows us like the importance on relying on God, you know, his wisdom rather than our own limited understanding. Yeah, that's true. You know, we acknowledge God in all aspects of our life, and that's how we find direction and purpose. And that's one of those things that it's like when people are like, Oh, why do I trust in God? Why should I? And it's like, do you want purpose and direction for your life?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Then trust in the Lord and you'll receive that. Yeah, it's true.
SPEAKER_00And then so many people are just looking for purpose. Like, well, what is my purpose here? And when you do lean into that, like, even for myself, I've just seen him take me to places that I never thought I'd be. I'd be like, even just a basic situation where I was like, I never thought that I would be dealing with this. But also the Lord's like, Well, watch me work, like I'm gonna work through you to reach other people, or I'm gonna use you to you know help people understand who I am and how I'm still alive in today's world. Like so I think it's awesome. I and like just like I was thinking about this same scripture, um, because I don't know, sometimes it is hard to kind of lean on the Lord and trust him because we only see the physical world and he sees everything the spiritual world, the physical world, and even you know, the future to where he knows what's good for us and what we need. And you know, like a lot of our prayers are like, God, I need this and I want this, and what we really don't know is do we really need it? He's the one that really knows if we need it, though he really knows if we need it or not in our lives. And um, but yeah, I think that's that scripture's powerful and awesome.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think um I think it's funny because a lot of people know this scripture, but I don't think they really understand the importance of it, of like really trusting in the Lord, and he says, with all your heart, and then leaning like not on our own understanding, we're like when we're leaning on something, we're putting all of our weight on something, and our own understanding is our flesh. So when we're leaning on our understanding, it's us leaning on the flesh, and then it also like led me to think about if we're leaning on our flesh, then we're leaning when then we're developing like the fruit of the flesh, not the fruit of the spirit, and we're not um gonna be able to have or we'll just be led astray if we're not trusting in him with all our heart and leaning and if we're leaning on ourselves and not on him, and we're not submitting to him, then he won't make our paths, like our paths won't be straight, like we'll be led astray, we'll do other things or reap other stuff that's not what God wants us to do. Um, we end up putting a lot of trust in the world, and we the we just can't, like we're not supposed to be trusting the world in general, because it's just deceitful and it leads to destruction, like eventually.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02So yeah.
SPEAKER_01And I feel like I relate trusting with like relying on. You know, so like when I talk about like trust in the Lord, trusting in the Lord, it's like rely on God, rely on his word, rely on his will and his plans for your life. You know, and I feel like that's kind of what it means when it's talking about like lean not on your own understanding because all we have, all we can imagine and think of is limited. But God is omnipresent, he's omniscient, omniscient, omnipotent, you know, he's all these things. So he's not bound by time restrictions, size restrictions, like his imagination is so much bigger than ours. And it's like, why would we want to limit ourselves? Like, if I could rely on God, if I could just put all my belief into his will and way for my life, that seems like the way better option than me over here trying to do it in my flesh and in my own ways, trying to just like do all these things. It's like I'm trying to do things like limitedly.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's true. That led me, you know, it reminds me of this other scripture, Numbers 23, 19, where it says, God is not human that he should lie, not a human being that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill? Like, I think a lot of times when we're not trusting him and when we make up excuses of like, well, it's like hard, like, oh, I got these trust issues and stuff, which yeah, we I'm sure a lot of us m have been hurt by people, but it's he's saying it in this like scripture, like he's not human, he's not a human being, he's not gonna hurt us the way, and he doesn't hurt us the way at all because he's sanctifying and like changing us for our better. But he doesn't lie, he doesn't change, he doesn't change his mind, he's always the same yesterday, today, and forever. Like, and he always like promise his promises are always fulfilled. And I think that helps us in general, like it should help, it should help us trust him more and have more confidence in him because like we have to remember that. Um, like what it's saying. I really but yeah, that was a good scripture. I didn't even realize like I have that at all.
SPEAKER_01But well, and I like how it talks about like he's not a man that he should lie. So it's like that's just like the number one reason, like when people say, like, oh, why should I trust God? Because he's the one person that's not gonna lie to you. Says it right there in numbers, you know. It's like we can't really trust fully in man, but we can trust fully in God because he's not like man, he's not gonna lie, he's not deceitful, you know, because it's like ever there's a lot of people out here that have trust issues, and rightfully so, you know, they've had some hurt and some things that cause those trust issues, and it takes time to heal from that, but it's like with God, he's never gonna break our trust. We're the ones that turn deceitful and rebellious and you know, lose that connection. But I just feel like that's such a cool verse because it really just like shows like he's not man, he's a divine being. And because of that, he can't lie. All he's gonna do is give life. Yeah, that's true. And everything he does.
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm. That's good. Yep. Yep.
SPEAKER_00No, I was just thinking, just like we uh we put him in a box, like a lot of people just put God in a box, and it's just not healthy because we can't move forward from that, you know, like and then just like this world is filled with deception, just like there's so many things out there that teach you about God, but it's really not biblical, so we just have this image of God to where that's why so many people can't trust in the Lord the way that he asks us to, because they're so brainwashed that oh, God is this way, and it's like, is that really what the Bible says about God? No, because they're not in it, you know, they're just thinking about oh, the the movie I watched or this YouTube video that I was watching or whatnot, you know.
SPEAKER_02That's true. Well, I think a lot of it like was talking, or as I was going through trust and all that. It's like if we know the gospel and we believe it and believe like what he what God did for us, like how he sent Jesus to die for us, and like what his promises were, like even when he promised from the beginning of the Bible, where he's like, someone's gonna come and save you all, like he's promising the Messiah, and he fulfilled that promise. And when we believe that and remind ourselves of the gospel, it would lead us to trust him more. I mean, I think even myself, like I feel like as believers, we should remind ourselves of the gospel every day. Because then it would kind of be like, oh yeah, he did do that. Let let's go. Like he he can do anything. Like he did that. Of course, he's gonna fulfill his other promises that he tells us where he says he'll carry it out. What carry out, um, carry it out to completion. I know that's like a piece of a verse or something, but he is the one who's doing the work. And it's just a matter of us like trusting him and like surrendering and letting things go and like letting him letting him do what he's gonna do, you know?
SPEAKER_01Absolutely.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Well, and too, like with that, I feel like in Psalms 56, like it talks about like even in times of fear, you know, it's like you can still trust him even in those times, even in the midst of all the craziness. I feel like a lot of the times it's reminding ourselves. You know, you're talking about like reminding yourself of the gospel every day. We also have to remind ourselves of just what seems to most Christians is like basic biblical principles. It's like sometimes I gotta remind myself, be like, who are we trusting right now? Me or the Lord? And then it's like you gotta check yourself sometimes because I feel like it's so easy for us to get caught up in our days, and especially as like young adults, like we're operating in our careers, we have families, we have roommates, we have, you know, to clean the house, you got dishes piling up or a dishwasher that they just live in there. It's extra storage at this moment because you're not unloading it. And you know, but it's like you get caught up in all those things and then something happens and you're like, Oh, God, what's happening? And he's like, It's fine, it's cool. He's like, Yeah, there's a storm outside. He's like, but we're in the boat, we're fine. And we're like freaking out and we're jumping overboard. And he's like, Well, why'd you go overboard? Why'd you do something like that? Like, we were fine, we were in the boat. Like, what were you doing? And it's those moments that like we stop trusting God. We started trusting ourselves and being like, No, this is what we're gonna do. This is the plan. Yeah. And it's like, why am I over here telling God what the plan is? I know like we're calling a huddle at a football game, like, okay, this is the play, this is the move, this is what we're gonna do. And he's like, um, it's actually not, but okay. You know, but it's like, why am I even stepping into that area when that's God's area? And I think the first step is like seeing it as like, this is God's area. He's the one that creates the purpose and the plan and the will for our life. Yeah. And we're just the ones that serve him and follow his plan.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's true. We get caught up in what we want or how we want our lives to be or how we want our day to be, even then, like we forget we're just supposed to trust him. Yeah. We're supposed to trust what he wants. Like, we know, like he even says it's like in scripture, like, it's like no longer I who live, but Christ in me. Like, it's literally us surrendering and really like giving our all to him and like emptying ourselves and being filled with Christ, being a new creation. And I think sometimes we forget that. I mean, even myself, I'll forget it. Um, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Cause we're talking about the gospel, and I love it. This is where I see the word being alive, is because I've been we've been doing that spiritual warfare study, and um this next one that we're about to study is talking about the like armor of God. And in verse um, or Ephesians 6, verse 15, it talks about, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. And what the study that we're going over is just talks about how like we do, we need to remind ourselves every day about the gospel because that's what is like our firm foundation, that's what keeps us like our footing solid when we come up against the enemy. And I think it's really important for us to remember that. Like the gospel is like our main thing. We should always know it, we should always be ready to talk about it. And like, even in like you said, in the in the in the beginning of the day, you should be reminding yourself what is the gospel, what is the truth, because that is pretty much what we're living for, and that's what we believe in, and that's what's gonna keep us firm in our faith and everything else, you know. I just want to point that out because I've been listen I've been hearing this for the past couple weeks about the footing and the and the gospel truth, and I'm like, oh, and you guys were talking about it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. No, I like that you brought up peace. Because I feel like that's so cool. And it reminded me of like Isaiah 26, 3. How it says, You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in you. So they're that perfect peace is again.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01You know, and it's like God will keep those who trust him in perfect peace. Like, how amazing is that to think of? Is like all we need to do is like identify the truth and trust that it's God's portion for us and we'll have peace.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And we all want it.
SPEAKER_02It's more like we don't want peace in our lives.
SPEAKER_01Nobody wants to live in chaos. Yeah, it's too much.
SPEAKER_02We're used to it sometimes, though. We get drawn to it, I've learned.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But if chaos finds you, you never go looking for chaos. If you look for chaos, please come to church. We would love to pray for you.
SPEAKER_00You'll find it here too. Yeah. I know. No, but the Lord, He really, I mean Well, even in ministry, I feel like people want their ministry to go a certain way, or even a church and right in general, is like they want to see certain things happen within the church, and we forget like God is in control. So we need to trust him that he knows what he's doing with his church, with the ministry, the people that walk in through those doors, the people that are here serving, like he knows what he's doing, and he knows what needs to happen. And you know, like the his goal is to get us back in the kingdom and to save save us, and like it's already been done through Jesus. We just have to accept that, and that's that's like our goal is to spread the word, and you know, w we plant the seed and God does the rest, you know, and we forget that because I know that there's a lot of people that I've come in contact with, and like, oh, I gotta help my brother be saved, or I gotta help my my mom or my dad be saved, like they just need Jesus, and it's like you what we need to do is be a good example and give him or her the gospel and then allow God to do what he needs to do with them.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's true.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's good, yeah. Cause it's not our job to like save anybody, you know, and that was one of the things that I had to learn. And a lot of I had to learn a lot of things. Even growing up in the church, I still had to learn a lot of things, you know, because there was like things that I feel like get overlooked in the Bible, and probably trust is one of the things. But there's a lot of things I feel like I personally overlooked, and so I had to learn those things, and it was like, oh wow, that's so crazy. Like, you know, one of them was like, God is our refuge. That I was like, I don't even I don't know, I would just like read it and be like, Yeah, God's our refuge. That's that was part of the memory verse. But it was like once you break it down, it's like, oh, what does that actually mean? It's like, oh, yeah, that's a new way to see God. And it's like we see God in these new ways, and then we have to trust and believe that He could do that for us.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's true.
SPEAKER_01That we're not just reading words on a page in this thing called the Holy Bible. It's like we're actually saying, okay, God, you did this for Peter, you can do this for me. You did this for my neighbor, you can do this for me.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And I feel like that's kind of what trust looks like. It's like, I'm going to put my full belief into God and that He can do this thing for my life. Yeah, that's true.
SPEAKER_02And I think it also looks like, like when especially when you're trusting, I mean, in a relationship, it's like if you trust this person, then you pretty much tell them everything. You tell them everything that's going on, any thought or anything that's happening, even stuff that you're concerned about, but you know like you trust them enough to where they're gonna, you know, if they appreciate the relationship, they're not gonna just end it and be like, oh, that's it. And especially with God, like He's He's the person that we can talk to about everything. Um, but I think that's how we grow more in our trust is really like really letting go of things and like yielding and submitting to him. And um just like growing more in just being open with him and being vulnerable. Because I feel like it isn't talked about a whole bunch. And it's not talked about a whole bunch in the church. And then I even think of like when I'm like how we're all like learning this, and so we could talk on the podcast and all that about it. And then I'm thinking of like he's showing me the stuff that I've been like struggling with recently, and I'm seeing how like I don't trust him in those areas because I'm looking to the things of this world to satisfy me and not him to fully like just he's like, I could satisfy everything, like for all of you. Like, do you not understand? Like, he's like, I feel that whole. And I think um I'm just kind of trying, like, yeah, like you gotta let it go. You gotta just like give it to me and then keep going and moving and knowing that he's gonna make a way even in it, or and I turn back one down to forget or forget that I was even struggling with those things or had to deal with that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Um we always pick topics that like we know some on, but then I always do like a deep dive into them. And as I'm deep diving, I don't like the topic anymore. Yeah, because I'm like, oh, I'm like, um, yeah, I don't want to talk about this anymore. Can we just like quit the podcast? And this was one of them because I was like, oh yeah, trusting in the Lord. Like, let's do this, let's pull some scriptures. And then it was like, oh, oh, I don't like that. Why is this being pointing at me? Yeah. Kind of feeling. And it was like one of the things was I've been having a lot of like, I don't know, like financial fears or like, you know. Not make it as much as I used to. And sometimes that stresses me out. And it's like those moments of like, oh yeah, I'm giving it to God. But then God's like, but you haven't let go of it yet.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And I'm like, huh? And he showed me like when they passed the baton in like a race, like a relay race, you know, for a moment, like both of you are holding it when you're passing it. And then you're supposed to let go. And the other person takes it. And God's like, you haven't let go yet. And I'm like, what do you mean? I'm I'm giving it to you. I'm trusting, you know, for all these miracles and all these blessings. And he's like, um, you haven't actually let go of like any of the anxiety or worry or whatever. And I'm like, oh, oh, because he's like, How can you trust me and say you're trusting me, but you haven't let go of it? And it's it was like, oh, okay, just punch me in the face. I'm like, that that was a crazy realization. Yeah. But I feel like it's so true. Like, we can't say that we're trusting in God unless we're able to 100% give it to Him. That's true. To fully be like, okay, God, I 100% trust you in this area.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And that was something that apparently I was not ready for subconsciously. You know, because it's one thing for us to like, you know, the Bible talks about in Philippians 4, you know, like casting all your anxieties on him, you know, all you have to do is like pray and give it to him. But I feel like there's also that next step of like, we have to fully let go.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And be like, okay, God, I gave it to you. I'm leaving it there. You know, it's like maybe it's even like you have to write on a piece of paper and put the paper on the ground physically. Be like, I'm not gonna touch it, I'm not gonna pick it back up. It's gone.
SPEAKER_04Burn it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But you know, it's like things like that that it's like we don't realize we're not actually trusting. Yeah. You know, it's like you have a coworker and you're like, hey, can you go do this task for me? And they're like, okay. And then you're secretly doing the task because you don't trust them to do it or to do it well. Yeah. And so you're still doing it. And then your boss is like, Well, why are you doing it when you have an assistant for that? You should have them do it. And you're like, Oh, um, well, it's like, dude, you don't, you're not gonna tell your boss, oh, well, they are doing it, but I didn't trust them to do it well, so I'm doing it myself. Yeah. And we get in that rhythm with God.
SPEAKER_02That's true, where we try to help him.
SPEAKER_00But also like we want results right then. Yeah. Okay, I'm gonna let it go right now. And it's like, okay, now what are you gonna do? And we're just like waiting for something to happen.
SPEAKER_01Sometimes he'd be taking too long, and I'm like, listen, I'll just do it for you.
SPEAKER_02Don't worry about it. Yeah. I think that's the thing with as a our walk with the Lord is waiting on him. I think that's the hardest part because we're not patient.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um, but we need to ask him for that. And I think also, even it's like with these situations, like you're saying financial, I know that's something that he's been working on in me too. And I think a lot of times when we have these like issues where we're like convicted and we see like, oh, I'm not trusting God in this area. We'll like pray it and say it to him once, and then that's it. But it's like we gotta bring it to him sometimes every day when we're like, oh my gosh, God, like, oh, like, you know, he's just showing me like how I'm like struggling with all these things, and it's because I don't trust that he's gonna fulfill his promises. I don't trust that he's gonna do these things, the things that he says he's gonna do. And I think what's so good is he's so patient and loving and caring. And I think he comes at us in a in a nice way where he'll convict us, but then we're like, but it's not like a it's always like a gentle conviction.
SPEAKER_01It's always just like I imagine like a teacher of like a fourth grade teacher where they come up and they're like, Hey, so let's not do this. Like, let's take that energy and put it somewhere else, like that nice, like gentle, constructive criticism.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But it always just feels harsh to me because I'm always like, oh, I don't want to hear that. I don't want to hear what I'm doing wrong.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's hard, but but it's good. I'm glad we were able to like kind of well, in general, just go through it and like learn about it as well, too, because I think we don't talk about it enough.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02In general.
SPEAKER_01And too, like one of the things that I noticed was like, we never know how long we're gonna have to trust God. You know, it's like we talk about like trusting him in these situations, but you don't know how long the situation's gonna last. You don't know how long that struggle is gonna endure. And you just have to like, you were saying, like, daily remind yourself, like, try not to pick it up. Because you know, it's like, yeah, I gave it to God. I'm 100% trusting him. Four days goes by, and you're like, okay, God, what's it gonna happen? What are we doing here? Did you forget? God never forgets, but we're like, Did you forget? Like, just you know, and it's those moments of like, okay, I have to remind myself, like, nope, we're trusting God to do this, we're trusting him to do this. And until it happens, like you just have to remind yourself of those things because you know, the Bible talks about we're supposed to stand on his promises. And at that point, that becomes a promise from him, yeah. Of like, I'm gonna do this, I'm gonna fulfill this for you. That's true. And it's like reminding yourself, like finding those scriptures, you know, using some of the scriptures we're talking about today. That's true, you know, to just remind yourself like this is why I'm trusting God. This is what I'm trusting him for. And just like sometimes you're gonna have to do it for a few days or weeks or years.
SPEAKER_02I think trusting him is a lifelong thing till the day we die, but it's just gonna be trusting in different things.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, different areas come up. Sometimes you're trusting him for like five things at once. Yeah, you're like, God, I know you're gonna do it. Like, I need a car, I need a husband, I need food on my table, I need a job. But he's gonna do it. Yeah. Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_00And then he's like, All you need is me. That's all.
SPEAKER_03You're like, oh my God.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Well, because sometimes we can't get like we were talking about in the beginning, sometimes we get caught up in what we want in our life and what we think. Because even like I was reading through scripture, I think it was in Ephesians, and it talks about like marriage and stuff, and talks about like, or I think Paul's talking about it. No, I think it's Corinthians, where he's saying, like, if you want to be married, like this is the reason why you should get married, this is reasons why you shouldn't. And then my head also says, God, should I get married? Like, am I like, and I was just kind of thinking, I was like, hey, I want to do what you want me to do. Um, I really like I feel like in these past five, six years of really like following the Lord. Like, I think I've let go of a lot of things that I thought I wanted, and I thought that's what he wanted for me, but it was more of like selfish stuff where I'm like, well, it's what everyone else in the world is doing, so why not me too? Yeah. Um, and it's gonna look a little different. It's gonna look a lot different actually when we're following God compared to just if we're just living life.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's I mean, like, that's what I've been thinking about making any kind of decision or saying like I want something. I'm like, okay, like really, where does God fit in on this? Like, is this gonna glorify God? Is this something from God? Is it good for me in the future? Um, that that will actually help me grow in my faith, or be in an impact on the people around me where I could show them the love of Christ and be able to share the gospel truth. Um, you know, just an example, like my car, you know, like it runs, it's good, there's nothing wrong with it, but there's always like, oh man, I want it to look nice, oh, I want it to be a new uh 2025, I want to make sure I can connect my phone to this, and then I'm like, then even today I'm driving it, I'm like, I have everything I need. I don't know why I keep asking for more, you know, and it's just that that nature that we have sometimes that we just need to look past all this the stuff that we see and realize that there's a bigger picture outside of there, like the spiritual part of things and where God is really leading us and how he's trying to grow us spiritually, not like f uh financially or um you know, these materialistic things that we just seek out to make to think that it's gonna make us happy, you know.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, and that kind of goes along with like our heart posture, I feel like. Yes, you know, because how you were talking about like I feel like culture has I don't want to say brainwashed, but like it somehow is made everyone feel and want and desire and like feel like they need to have the newest thing, yeah, the coolest thing, the shiniest thing. And it's like, do I have a car that gets me from A to B? Yes. Does it get me to my job? Yes. Would I love it to be a Maserati? Absolutely. Can I afford a Maserati? No, I can't even afford a Honda. You know, but it's like those things like we always want the new gadgets, we always want the new things, and that's just like our human nature and being stuck in the culture that we are. And more, more, more, you know, it goes back to like the Bible where it talks about like renewing your mind, like keep your heart pure. And it's like I feel like trusting is a heart posture. You know, your heart has to be postured right to be like, okay, God, this is what I want, but I also want what you would have for me. Yeah. So I'm gonna trust that you're gonna take my desires into consideration, and if they're in alignment with you, I'll get them.
SPEAKER_03Awesome.
SPEAKER_01If they're not, then help me not be disappointed.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01You know, and there's a lot of moments like that, and I feel like that's kind of like a healthy, positive heart posture, you know, spiritually speaking. That's true. Because like the Bible, when it talks about like the heart, it's referring to like our intentions, desires, our motivations, like what's driving our person? You know, like what is what's making us operate? What heart posture are we operating in? Is it positive or is it negative? Are we, you know, operating in love, faith, and humility? Or are we just clouded with trying to control everything? Or, you know, we're resisting God, we're prideful, yeah, our faith is dwindling. You know, it's like, what what are your actions showing? Because whatever your heart is, your actions are gonna show.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Trust is active too.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah. So if people are like, How are you so joyful? How are you filled with so much peace? Like, I'm trusting in the Lord over here. Yeah, like that's the overflow of my heart posture. Yeah. My heart being postured in a certain way is overflowing in that way.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02It reminds me of that scripture where I was just looking up, um, in Matthew 621, it says, Where your heart, where your treasure is, there your heart will also be. And if our treasure, if our desires, if our heart is postured on things of this world, things that where we're gonna need more and more and more to feel like we need to be satisfied, like just like all these things. Um with the new phones or new whatever thing that's flashy. Um and if our heart is aligned toward that, then it's just gonna Well, I was even I'm trying to think, I was I think it was Galatians where I was talking about like eventually, like if you continue to reap from or reap of the flesh, you will sow of the flesh. Yeah, like if you continue to go that way where you're desiring these things of the world, these things that are not godly, or even these things that are leading you away from God, eventually it's gonna turn to destruction. And then I was like, oh God, I don't want destruction enough in my life, it's gonna turn to chaos, it's gonna turn to it leads to death, like um, all these things. And I'm like, I don't want that, like no. And I think our heart really, I mean, he puts so much emphasis on where our heart needs to be, I think, because well, like it's saying, like, you know, wherever it is, that's what's gonna come out. Like what's in our heart will also come out like in our words, in our actions, and the things that we do, like um, and we wanna be a reflection of Christ, and we want to even reflect people that we you can trust God, and He is a trusting, loving God. And um, because you think about it, like if you're talking to someone who's like not a believer, and then you're like kind of telling them how you don't trust God, or in certain aspects of your life where you're stressed out about things, and then there's like stress at the same time, and they're like, Well, what's different? You you're a believer, but you're still having the same issues I got. What's what's different? And if that person who is a believer isn't like leaning on the Lord and like trusting in him, um and saying that, like, well, yeah, like I know I'm struggling with these things, but I know that the Lord is gonna work through me and he is like he's making a way. I don't know how it's gonna be, but I know that I'm trusting him. Whereas if the person's like a believer and they're not saying that they're trusting him, then they're like, Well, then what's the point? Like they would still be like, There's no there's there should there's no difference in things and we're not meant to just blend in in this world. We're meant to be set apart. We're meant to like they should know that we're believers by how we act and how we love others and how we show the or reflect like the fruit of the spirit. Um yeah.
SPEAKER_01And I feel like too, that's one of the things that like people notice the most is when we're going through something. Oh yeah, they're gonna see how we're reacting. Yeah, they're gonna see, okay, well, where where are they at? Are they like falling overboard or are they just like riding this storm out? You know, and it's a lot of times like having to remind ourselves like one, we're an example of Christ. And it's like Jesus wasn't afraid of anything, things feared him. Yeah, everything feared him.
SPEAKER_00He took a nap on a boat in a storm. Right. I always think about that.
SPEAKER_01They're about to capsize, and he's just like catching Z over there in the corner.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because he knew he knew who he trusted.
SPEAKER_01He was like, Right, he trusted God. He was like, My father in heaven is not gonna let this water take me out. This water that he created is not gonna take me out in this moment, you know, and it's like we think our problems are so big, we think that they're so like in our face and we just can't do it. And then it's like once we start trusting in God, we're like, oh wow, it's actually not even that big of a deal. Or you see, like, wow, it's so much better just like sitting in peace and just like being like, Okay, I've fully surrendered it to God, like it's all his. Yeah, that's true. You know, and it's like those moments are what we hold on to in the next chaotic time of like, but remember last time how it was so much better once I just like gave it to God and trusted him to handle it. Let's do that again.
SPEAKER_00I know that's helped in my walk too, is always looking back and be like, wow, God had me then and he surely has me now. And even when it's like a tough situation, that's something I've never like dealt with before. I'm like, I know he's gonna get me through this. Like, if he could get me through my past, he could definitely get me through my present right now. And I think it's about acceptance too, is like who are you giving it to, giving it to the Lord, and I accept that whatever comes out of this situation is gonna be good for for me and for his glory, you know.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's true.
SPEAKER_00And like that's that's something too, is like we need to meditate on the word and remember what he says and what he promises us and how much he loves us, and and then just think about all the people that you know, like there's trust in the Lord in the Bible so many times. And and that's what got them through those times was just trusting and accepting that this is God, the one true God, the one that's gonna protect me, you know, my fortress, the my rock, my foundation, everything, you know, they they describe him in so many ways, and it helps us to actually just accept and trust who he really is.
SPEAKER_02That's true. Well, yeah, because I think the enemy also wants us to forget who God is and like what he who he says he is and what he's done or just how powerful he is, and also the fact that Jesus already defeated Satan. Like he's already what I think it was somewhere where he's already disarmed. So we're we're seeing Satan where he's are he's already lost the battle. And I think sometimes he wants like, or a lot of times he wants us to forget that, like to forget that there's authority in Christ. And since the Spirit lives with us within us, there's authority in us in Jesus' name. Like, and I he doesn't want us to, the enemy doesn't want us to remember that and to believe that because then all these things in the world, I mean, I even think my issues and stuff that I'm going through, they're just so small compared to like eternity. And really, if we're thinking of like heavenly things and thinking of like just building the Lord's kingdom, then these little things that are they're just distractions because he doesn't want us to really like the enemy doesn't want us to really step into like where the Lord's taking us. Yeah. Um but also it's also us letting it go and surrendering to God where He's still like working with us along the way.
SPEAKER_00Like letting it go doesn't mean forgetting about the situation. It's just trusting that there's a higher power that is in control that's gonna help you through it. You know, it's not I think sometimes even when you talk about forgiveness, people think it's like, I have to just forget what happened. No, that's not it. You just have to trust that the Lord, He's gonna get justice in in his mighty name, in the way that He He works, not the way the world works, like we're an eye for an eye, but you know, He's gonna get the justice for you, and and you know, they're they're gonna have to face Him one day, you know, judgment Day is not gonna be pretty.
SPEAKER_01Well, and like in Psalms 51, you look at verse 11 through 12, and it talks about a heart that desires God's presence and seeks his forgiveness and restoration. You know, so it's like we don't have to be the ones doing all that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01We can invite God in and to step into that. And you know, it's like you jump down to verse 15 to 17 and it talks about a restored heart overflowing with praise and desire to declare God's goodness, to declare his goodness over the situation, to declare his goodness over that person's life, you know, and it's like all those moments that we just get so stuck, but it's like if we're fully letting go and trusting, we start to notice these things. We start to notice, oh oh, look at that. You know, and it doesn't seem as big or as painful.
SPEAKER_02Mm-hmm. Well yeah, because Jesus even tells us, like, my yoke is easy, my burden is light. Like, give me, cast your cares on me, like give them to me. He he can hold them. We're not built to hold it and to hold all these things or whatever it is that we're going through our cares and our worries and our issues. Um, he's built for it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we think we're stronger than what we are.
SPEAKER_02And we're not, we're weak. We are weak humans.
SPEAKER_00We are in our in his weakness, we are thinking about like the every everyday little things that stress you out, you know. It's just like God just already everything.
SPEAKER_01Someone breathing too loud, someone chewing. The sound of a fork against a tooth will send me over the wild. But there's so many little things that like stress me out. And I'm like, God, why am I like this? I'm always asking him, I'm like, I don't understand. Why I can't go eat with this certain person. It's like they're not, it's not even like they're chewing all crazy or their mouth is open. It's like they're just always choose crunchy food. And I just sit there and listen to them crunch, and I'm like, I can't. I can't be here. Now I want to crunch something in here. I want to get some ice. It really is. And it's those moments of like, I'm like, I I don't know why I'm like this, but yeah, there's a lot that stresses us out. There's a lot that stresses me out. A lot of random things that stress me out.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. It's just distraction, you know? Like the enemy, he uses any little thing to get us distracted to where I know this is gonna stress this person out for the whole day. Oh yeah, it's just gonna ruin their life. Yeah, you know, like that's so he he watches us, and not that the enemy is present everywhere, but he has his little minions, and you know, he watches out for our patterns and is like, okay, I'm gonna send out my little minion to get this person today and just get them distracted.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, when he's strategic about it. Yeah, one of the three things we were learning, it was like there needs to be opportunity, there needs to be desire, and there needs to be there was one more thing when we're in our study. Oh, opportunity, desire, and I don't think I wrote them down.
SPEAKER_01I just remember them talking about how like he's strategic. So he's gonna wait till you're like at the peak of your day, like you've had the best day, and then all of a sudden, it's like that one thing that gets under your skin, and you're like, Well, my the whole rest of my day is ruined. Like that's what he takes pride in. It's always gonna be when you're on a spiritual high, you're like, Yeah, God, we can do this. I'm fully trusting you. Da-da-da-da-da. And then all of a sudden, you're like, Oh. And we're back to not trusting him.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01You know, now we got hit with worry again. Now we're fearful about the thing again. You know, and it's like he's always gonna try to creep in those moments of like your mountaintop. That's true. He doesn't care about the valley, he wants you to stay in the valley. He's like, Oh yeah, they're like halfway depressed, like they're on their way. We'll just let them sit there.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But it's like when you're at the mountaintop and you're like, Yes, God, you're you know, singing his praises, you're overflowing with his goodness. All that's when he's gonna come creep in.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he comes in with doubt, shame, and like those things that tear us apart because they start kind of from within almost where we tear ourselves apart. Like, I'm not worthy enough for this. I'm weak for it. I don't know how God's using me because I've been through so many things and I've made so many mistakes, you know.
SPEAKER_02That's how we rebuke it. Where I'm like, get out of my head, Satan. This is not this is not God. Like, I'll just yell, or I'll say it. I'll even just say it in my head where I'm like, what the heck?
SPEAKER_01But yeah, yeah. That's right. So I feel like a good way to end is like how what does it look like for you to trust God? I'll just end with that question.
SPEAKER_02I think that God develops trust in us, like us trusting him. I think it's a lot of him working through us, but it's it's also a matter of when we yield and submit and surrender to him. Things like, I mean, it's everything, but you know, sometimes it takes some time. Um, or as the Holy Spirit comes um convicts you, then you know, surrendering it right then and there. I think that's how we develop the trust with him, or how we practically can trust him, is by like really like laying it down and just being honest with him and telling him, like, yeah, this is what's going on. I don't know why, this is what's happening, and um really like remembering that we need to be like he we need to bring him into every step of like every second of the day, pretty much of our lives. Um, because we can't do it without him. I think also remembering like we cannot do life without him. We can't, we can't do anything without him. He even says it in the word, I think, like, or I think in the psalm that we were going over, where it's like nothing nothing good comes from without so nothing good comes if the Lord's like not in it, or something like that. Like nothing. And I think reminding us are of that, reminding ourselves of that too. So yeah, or that's what I need to do to continue to trust him. So yeah. Yeah. Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_01Love that.
SPEAKER_00For me, um, I think about like creation and like how everything God created was perfect, and I have to remember that that's the God that is in control of my life, and that's the God that helps me get through the day. And you know, even though I might see struggle or I might be hurt or I might feel a type of way, I know that I believe in a God that creates things in in like perfectness, you know. I don't know if that's a word, but perfection. In perfection. So even though I might feel a type of way, I know that I'm in his hands and that anything that I give him is not too big for him, you know, and that he's the one that I can trust. Like, and not just the word trust, but like that's it's a true trust because I think the world makes trust or it kind of it kind of manipulates us to think trust is a certain thing, but the trust that we have in the Lord is completely different than what we know as trust. Um, if that makes sense. It makes sense to me. But you know, because he operates on a different level, he doesn't operate under the the world. He he just he operates in heavenly places, he's beyond us. So when yeah, every day I just think about that, like you know, this is the God that I trust, the the one that I rely on.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Um, I would say like one of the first things that I have to do is like remind myself of his character. Like I have to go back to like okay, all this scriptures, like I gotta restudy the scriptures, I have to like go back to that foundation that I built, that understanding of his love, his wisdom, his power, his faithfulness, you know, in the midst of that circumstance. And then it's like, okay, now I can start seeking his guidance. Now I can spend time with him, being like, this is my problem, this is what it is, I'm gonna give it to you. You know, that's like the surrendering portion of it. And then it's like fully accepting his will in his way, you know, relying on his leading, even if it takes sacrifice, you know, it's probably gonna involve getting out of my comfort zone.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01It's probably gonna involve me having to redo these steps every day. But it's like it's gonna be so much more better if I do that than me sitting here just wallowing in my self-pity and then trying to figure it out myself. Yeah, that's true. Because none of my schemes work. Guys, I feel like I should be on the cast of like Scooby-Doo, but then I'm like, I would not be good. Like, I'm out here thinking I'm Daphne, and I'm really just shaggy. Shaggy. I mean, like, this is what we're doing, guys. This planet's gonna be so fire, and then it just like blows up in my face, and I'm like, yo, why did I think this was gonna work? You know, and so it's like I have to keep myself away from those moments, and that's kind of like how I do it is just like reminding myself who he is, and then trying my best to not pick it back up. Because I feel like the best we could do is just like try. Yeah. Because I feel like there is gonna be moments and like don't beat yourself up. Like, there's gonna be moments where you realize and you're like, wait, wasn't I trusting God to do that? Then why am I trying to figure it out? You know, and it's like you're gonna catch yourself, and then you're like, Okay, God, I'm sorry, you can have it back. Like, here you go. You know, it's like those moments, and yeah, yeah. It's rough out here, but we're all just trying to trust the Lord and get some of this peace and joy overflowing.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's right. That's good.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and I feel like to I'll end with this like if you're having a hard time trusting God, check your heart. Like, ask Him to check your heart. Be like, okay, God, what what's the resistance here? What's keeping me from giving this to you? What's keeping me from fully believing that you can do this for me?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01You know, there's a story in the Bible where I think it was the dad, his son was sick, and he said, God, help my unbelief. You know, he's talking to Jesus and he's like, Help my unbelief. Like, help me to believe in you and to trust you to do this thing. And it's those simple moments of just saying that one little few word sentence, and you just watch God move.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. That's good.
SPEAKER_01And yeah.
SPEAKER_03That's right.
SPEAKER_01Hope you guys are blessed by this, and that if you didn't already know, now you know how to trust in the Lord and why you should. And now you can. And if you already are, good for you. Keep going. Yes, keep going. Keep doing it. See you on the next episode. Yes. Okay. Bye. Bye. Bye.
