We trace how Jesus faced Judas with truth and humility, why betrayal cannot break God’s plan, and how Joseph’s path shows pain turning into purpose. We end with four practical steps to keep a soft heart and a steady hope when trust is broken.

• Jesus shares bread and washes feet, even with Judas
• Sin’s origin in desire, not God’s temptation
• God’s foreknowledge and the cross in Acts 2
• Resurrection as the horizon, not a detour
• Joseph’s trials advancing God’s purpose
• Four practices: do not fear, trust the process, avoid early judgment, keep a soft heart
• Living hidden in Christ as protection and posture

Setting The Theme: Betrayal And Scripture

SPEAKER_00

Hello, friend, Chaplain Terry Warner here. Good morning to you, good day to you. This will be Leaving the Defeats Behind. It's season twenty twenty-five, and it will be episode forty-nine, I believe. Let me look here. Yes, episode 49. Leaving the defeats behind. Your foundation scriptures is John 13, Psalm 41, John 6, Acts 2, did Jesus foresee a Judas and why did he allow it? If Jesus did Jesus foresee a Judas, and why did God allow it? They were at the evening meal and Passover, it's at the Passover meal. This is the last meal before the crucifixion. The evening meal, Passover was being served, and the devil had already prompted Judas Iscariot, son of Simon, to betray Jesus. Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God. John thirteen, verses two and three. Even my close friend, whom I trusted, he who shared my bread, has lifted up his heel against me. As keeper of the money bag, that's Psalm 41 9 that I just quoted. As keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it. That's John 12 6. So we're back to the Last Supper. Judas is uh uh there, and Judas is he's he's eating with him. And he also uh we'll we'll stay with him there for a few minutes. Unfortunately, the sin that Judas never repented of was the sin that led to his destruction. When tempted, no one should say, God is tempting me. For God cannot be tempted by evil, but each one is tempted when his by his own evil desire he is dragged away and enticed. Then after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and sin when it is full grown, gives birth to death. That's James 1, 13 through 15. So how do we, as a Christian, handle a Judas? What did Jesus do? Okay, now I just set up the the scenario or the scene for you. They're having the Last Supper, and Jesus says, One of you, one of you is going to betray me. What did Jesus do? What should we do? What what did Jesus do? The first thing Jesus did was feed Judas at the table with everyone else. The next thing Jesus did after eating was wash the feet of the disciples' feet, including Judas. The other thing that was in the garden when Jesus was being betrayed. Jesus said to him, Friend, do what you came for, Matthew 26, verse 50. This man was handed over to you by God's set purpose and foreknowledge, and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to a cross. But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep his hold on him. David said about him, I saw the Lord always before me, because he is at my right hand. I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad, and my tongue rejoices, my body will also live in hope, because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your holy one see decay. For you have made known to me the path of life, and you fill me with joy in your presence. That's Acts two, twenty three through twenty eight. So God wasn't caught off guard by this. Dr. Luke continues, Brothers, I can tell you with confidence that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day. But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on an oath that he would place one of his descendants on the throne. Psalm twenty two. Seeing what was ahead, he spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to the grave, nor did his body see decay. God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact. Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit, and has poured out what you now see and hear. For David did not send to heaven, and yet he said, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet. Therefore let all Israel be assured of this. God has made this Jesus whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ. When the people heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and other apostles, Brothers, what shall we do? Acts two, twenty nine through thirty seven. Pay attention to this. This man was handed over to you by God's set purpose and foreknowledge, and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross. So when the sin of betrayal comes along, do not be afraid or fear it. Betrayal does not destroy the destination of God's plan in your life. A Judas cannot change God's plan, but will actually advance it, the plan of God in your life. Judas cannot stop the plan of God. He, the devil, is only able to advance it. Judas betrayed Christ, led to a crucifixion, led to Jesus dying for the sins of the world, led him being raised from the dead, led him to be seated at the right hand of God. Your attitude should be the same as Christ Jesus, who being in the very nature God, did not consider equality with God, something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made human likeness, and being found in the appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death, even the death on a cross. Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. Philippians five through eleven. I think I'm in Philippians four, five through eleven. In Genesis we see Joseph was not promoted during the great errors of prosperity. He was captured by his brothers, thrown into a pit, slowed into slavery, spent two years in prison. Genesis four one one says two full years before being the number two person in Egypt. Genesis fifty, nineteen through twenty-one. Everything that tried to kill Joseph wound up advancing God's plan to fulfillment. God always overrules the evil, and when he does, advances the plan of the person being attacked. You may be in Genesis 37, your dreams may have gotten you in trouble. That's when he was in the pit. You may be in Genesis 39, that's Joseph and Potiphar's wife, got accused of uh having relations with his wife and thrown into prison. You may be in Genesis fifty. Jacob passes away, his dad passes away. But look at Joseph's reply. But Joseph said to them, he's talking to his brothers, Don't be afraid. Am I in the place of God? You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done. The saving of many lives. So then God, so then don't be afraid for you and your children. And he assured them and spoke kindly to them. Genesis fifty nineteen through twenty one. So you see, the evils from the devil that have been allowed to come through your life to destroy you have actually advanced God's plan in your life. God loves you, and in Jeremiah God says, For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you a hope and a future. Jeremiah 29, 11. So in closing, let me say these. Let me say this. There's four things for you to do. Number one, do not fear your betrayer. Don't be afraid of him. It doesn't mean you do what he says, it means you're not afraid of him. Don't operate in fear. Don't despise the process, Genesis 50, 15 through 21. You're in this process and you're in this life and you're in these conditions and you're in these circumstances because of your decisions. But God is overseeing everything still. Don't don't despise the process. Don't judge your life story too early. You are seeing a chapter in your life. God is seeing the whole book. And number four, keep your heart soft. Matthew twelve thirty four. Because out of it flow the issues, or the principles, or the guidelines, or the facts, or the destination of your life, which should be hidden in Christ. Get to be hiding in Christ. Dwell in Christ. So when the devil comes to you, he sees Jesus and not you struggling. You have a blessed day in Jesus' name. Amen. This has been Chaplain Terry Warner.
