Shaking The Jar: How To Resist Evil And Love Your Neighbor
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
What if the tension you feel online, at work, and even around the holiday table isn’t random—but a push to make you fight? We open with a simple image of a shaken jar and follow it to a deeper truth about spiritual agitation, the nature of evil, and why our words either calm storms or feed them. From there, we draw a straight line to the greatest commandments—love God fully, love your neighbor as yourself—and show how that love becomes a practical strategy, not a vague ideal, for resisting chaos.
We get specific about the enemy’s tactics: confusion, provocation, and the subtle way careless speech hands over ground. Instead of trying to control outcomes with willpower or religious slogans, we make the case for alignment—letting God’s power work through a surrendered life. Binding and loosing come into focus as alignment with heaven rather than a ritual, and Romans 10 reframes the link between heart and mouth: belief that justifies and confession that sets direction. Along the way, we name common pitfalls, like blaming God for misfortune or calling contempt “courage,” and offer a simple way forward: disciplined speech, humble repentance, and consistent love that treats people as God would.
As the year turns, we extend a clear invitation to entrust your plans, resources, and relationships to Christ and test His faithfulness. You’ll hear updates on our weekly releases, how listeners worldwide use these messages for small groups and study, and a brief note on donations and newsletters. If your life feels rattled, this conversation offers footing—practical steps to speak peace, embody love, and push back against agitation with trained, righteous persistence. If this resonates, subscribe, share with a friend who needs steady ground, and leave a review so others can find their way to this message.

SPEAKER_00Hello, friend. Chaplain Terry Warner here. Let me be wish you a Merry Christmas. This will be the last podcast before Christmas. Be one after Christmas for New Year's. But right now today, Merry Christmas. Hope your day's going great. This is Shaking the Jar Series 2025, Episode 51. It will publish out on 1222 of 2025. Your foundation scripture, Matthew 22, verses 34 through 40, and Isaiah 19, verses eight verse 18. There is a famous cartoon, The Far Side, by Gary Larson, showing two astronauts from Earth that have been captured by aliens and are confined to being inside a jar. One of the aliens says to the other, Shake the jar and let's see if they will fight. Well, this is a fictional cartoon. When compared to our real life experiences, a lot of times we are portraying out this fictional yet realistic scene. I look and observe our national governors, presidents, kings, state governors, political leaders, and I want to shout, wake up, wake up, your jar, and the jar your environment is in of life is being shaken by an outside force. That outside force has a name, and his name is Satan. Satan is a fallen angel, and he led a rebellion against God, lost the battle, and his casualties included a third of the angels. They were cast out of heaven, lost the godly privileges and standings, that the loving, compassionate, and merciful attributes that God had given them. You know, when Christ came into the world was born, the angels sang peace on earth, good will toward men. Whatever happened to that, now we blame tornadoes, hurricanes, any kind of misfortune on the act of God. How stupid can we get? God is loving, kind, merciful, slow to anger, compassionate, plentious in mercy, and his glory lets us shine, and it's because of his goodness that we are alive and prosper and can defeat the enemy. But they were so wrong, these fallen angels, they convinced themselves that they would still win in their rebellious plan. They roam the earth today looking for a body they can calm, claim, rather, and destroy in that effort to overthrow God. They don't calm 'em, they make em frustrated. Let me repeat that so you get it really clear. They were so wrong, the devil and his angels. They convinced themselves that they would still win in their rebellious plan. They roam the earth today looking for a body they can claim and destroy in their effort to overthrow God. In essence, it is an evil entity that is shaking the jar of life, specifically your jar of life. Some of us have uncovered the devil's plan and are engaged in resisting and exposing his weakest plan. That would be yours truly, but are not actively assisting God to overcome this evil rebellion. I need to improve my attack and what I how I handle the devil. Some of us are trying to control this evil creation, the fallen angel, by using our own devices and our own strength and our own power. Cast him out using the name of Jesus. Dictate to him what he should do and shouldn't do. Friends, it doesn't it isn't how it works. Only the power of God inside you, working through your mouth, can affect the devil and the behavior of the devil and bind him and loose him. Jesus says whatever is bound in heaven can be bound on earth. Whatever is bound on loose on earth can be loosed in heaven. You see, the devil can't get away with just everything. He's limited by the words that the Christian throws on restriction to him. Therefore, if the Christian is not living godly lives, even though he's a Christian, the devil is able able to take his words and twist them and advance them and use them against him. And that's why so many Christians have got so many problems, is because their mouth is so rebellious, their mind is rebellious, their spirit man is rebellious, their soul is rebellious, and they talk, they talk and act contrary to God's word. I'm not talking about salvation. I'm talking about your Christian walk. I'm talking about your influence in your jar of life. The devil is shaking it, trying to get us to fight. What's Jesus say? The most greatest commandment is to love your Lord with all your heart, all your mind, all your soul, and all your strength. And the second is like it, love your neighbor as yourself. That doesn't mean go around and be good to them. It means treat them like God would treat them. Show them the way of true repentance and the better way, the Christian walk. Some of us have uncovered the devil's plan and are engaged in resisting and exposing his wicked plan, but are not actively assisting God to overcome this evil rebellion. Some of us are trying to control this evil creation, fallen angel, by using our own devices and our own strength and power. This scripture knows what they should do, but lack the knowledge of how to put the God's plan into action. Some of us know God's plan and his tools, but think they can do a better job by using his tools to help us defeat the devil. We are well equipped, but lack the training in teachings of righteousness and to ourselves and others. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and is with your mouth that you are that you confess and are saved. Romans 10, 9 and 10. Why not decide today to give your heart to Jesus Christ and live a year live your coming year for Jesus instead of living it for yourself, instead of patting your own pocketbook and pad God and see if God doesn't open up the windows of heavens and bless you and make your life so worth living and so enjoyable and so pro profound that it amazes even you.
