We trace Jesus’ claim as the Light of the World, the standoff with religious leaders in John 8, and the promise that truth frees those who remain in his word. We move from theology to practice—renewing the mind, rejecting lies, returning to God, and living on mission with generosity.

• Jesus’ claim “I am the light of the world”
• Truth, witness, and the Father’s testimony
• Freedom from sin through abiding in the word
• Tradition versus obedience and the Sabbath tensions
• “Before Abraham, I am” and its implications
• Healing of the blind man as enacted light
• Renewing the mind and resisting lies
• Calling to go, give, and steward resources
• Repentance, return, and spoken blessing

On my podcast website, I have a donation page. If you make a donation, all the money, all the proceeds goes to somebody that is going to need the money that the Lord will direct me to give to. Usually when I give it to an increments of$100, but sometimes I'll give more, sometimes I'll give less, depending on where the Lord leads. But if you'd like to be part of that, just don't feel free. Donate. It goes strictly to somebody in need. And every time I get$100 or a little more, then I find somebody. The Holy Spirit will direct me to somebody and we'll meet their needs and hopefully draw them closer to Christ.

Jesus, Light Of The World

SPEAKER_00

Hello friend, Chaplain Terry Warner here. Hope you're doing a good today. This will be season number twenty twenty six, episode number two. Going to talk about Jesus being the light of the world. I'm starting in John eight, verse twelve. So Jesus spoke to them again, saying, I am the light of the world. The one who follows me could not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. Then the Pharisees said to him, You are testifying about yourself. Your testimony is not true. Jesus answered and said to them, Even if I am testifying about myself, my testimony is true, because I know where I came from and where I am going, but you do not know where I came from or from where I am going. You are judging according to the flesh, your see your in other words, your senses. I am judging no one. And even if I do judge, my judgment is true, because I am not alone, but it is I and the Father who sent me. And even in your Torah or your teaching, it has been written that two people are the true witnesses nineteen fifteen. I am the one who testifies concerning myself, and the Father who sent me testifies about me. Then they were saying to him, Where is your father? Jesus answered, You know neither me nor my father. If you had known me you would have also known my father. He spoke these words while teaching in the treasury of the temple, but no one seized him because his time had not yet come. Then he again said to them, I am going back, and you will seek me, and you will be dead, lost in your sin. You are not able to come where I am going. Therefore the Jewish people were saying, Will he kill himself because he says where I am going you are not able to come? And he was saying to them, You are from below, I am from above. You are from this world, I am not from this world. Therefore I said to you that you will be dead in your sins. For if you would not believe that I am, you will be dead in your sins. Therefore they were saying to him, Who are you? Jesus said to them, And what have I said to you from the beginning? I have much to say and to judge concerning you, but the one who sent me is genuine, and I did hear from him these things that I am saying into the world. He was saying to them that they did not know the Father. Then Jesus said to them, When you would exalt or lift up the Son of Man, that's talking about being crucified, then you will know that I am, and I do nothing by myself. This I am, that's that's that's God's name. I am, El said I, everything, the mother, the father, the breasty one, the nurser, the provider, Jehovah Jireh, all the names is in that I am, and I do nothing by myself, but I say these things just as the Father taught me, and the one who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, because I always do the things pleasing to him. After he said these things, many believed in him. You see, they couldn't they couldn't grasp it. They knew they had watched him grown up as a boy, and now that he was proclaiming to be the Son of God, they just couldn't get over the fact that they didn't believe in the miraculous birth. They didn't believe what he said. And when you don't believe what Jesus said says, nothing makes sense to you. Everything's dark and and confusing. Picking up in verse 30 John 8, 31, therefore Jesus was saying to the Jewish people who believed in him, If you would remain in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free. They answered him, We are Abraham's seed, and we have never been slaves. How do you say that you will become free? Jesus answered them, I most definitely say to you that everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin, and the slave does not stay in the house forever. The sun does stay forever. If therefore the Son would set you free, you will truly be free. I know that you are Abraham's seed, but you are seeking to kill me, because my message does not take hold in you. I am saying that what I have seen from my father, but you are doing what you have heard from your father. See, they follow the prophets and tradition. When Jesus healed someone, he did it on a Sabbath, and that just really got them the wrong way. They just couldn't handle it. It's blowing their traditions, pum out of the water. They answered and said to him, Abraham is our father. Jesus said to them, If you are the children of Abraham, you must continually be doing the works of Abraham. But now you are seeking to kill me, a man who have spoken I have spoken the truth to you that I heard from God, this Abraham did not do. You are doing the works of your own father. They said to him, We have not been born from immorality. We have been one we have one father, God. See they they they didn't believe in Jesus' ver birth virgin birth. Jesus said to them, If good, if God were your father, you would love me. For I came out from God, and I have come for come, for I have not come from myself, but he sent me. Why do you not recognize my manner of speaking? Because you are not able to hear my message. Why weren't they able to hear? They weren't able to hear because they didn't believe his word. You are from your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. You imagine telling your religious leaders that? I mean if they're in the wrong. That one was a murderer from the beginning, and he has not stood in truth, because truth is not in him. When he would tell a lie, he speaks from his very own supply, because he is a father of lies. But because I am speaking the truth and you do not believe me, who of you exposes me concerning sin? If I am speaking truth, why do you not believe me? The one who is from God leaves the words, hears the words of God. Because of this you do not hear, because you are not from God. The Jewish people answered and said to him, Are we not rightly saying that you are a Samaritan yourself and you have a demon? See, when they get in the mind and they can't get out of it, they start doing what a lot of us do, start name calling. Now that we know you have a demon. Abraham and the prophets died, you are saying if someone would keep my word, he would never taste death. Are you greater than our father Abraham who died and the prophets died? What do you make of yourself? Jesus answered, If I shall glorify myself, then it's not my glory. My father is the one who glorifies me, whom you are saying that he is our God. And you have not known him, but I do know him. And if I were to say that I do not know him, I would be a liar, like you. But I do know him, and I hear keep his word. Abraham your father rejoiced because he would see my day, and he did see it and was joyful. Then the Jewish people said to him, You are not yet fifty years old, and you have seen Abraham? Jesus said to them, I most positively say to you, before Abraham was born, I am. I am Jehovah. El Shaddai. Almighty God. I am, I am. Then they took stones that they could throw them at him. But Jesus was concealed and left the temple. Then he goes and heals a blind man and he does sort of a strange thing. He takes a spittle, makes little pads of clay, and puts it on the man's eyes, and tells him to go wash in the pool, pool of saloon. And the Jewish people believed, it was an inherent belief that the spittle from the firstborn son had anointing and healing powers. Well, that's enough for today. I just thought that was pretty interesting in my Bible study yesterday and this morning in John 8 and John 9. Really a good chapter. When you were born again, your spirit, man, was made new. Not not fixed over, not redone, made new. Your mind, your soul, your body, your soul was saved. Your mind and body are still living in this world. And they've been trained to live and function in this world. And that's why you have so much trouble. The trouble is what's right between your ears starts in the mind. The devil puts thoughts in your mind. You speak them out your mouth, and the next thing you know you're believing them. Devil tells you you're sick. God ain't gonna tell you you're sick. God tells you by his stripes you're healed. The devil tells you you're broke and don't have any money. Lack. God says lack under the curse. You've been redeemed from the curse. He was made poor. Jesus was made poor so that we might be made rich. We lack no good thing in Christ Jesus. We lack no good thing in Christ. Don't ask God to send the Holy Spirit somewhere. That's your job. You go. Jesus said, Go into all the world, preach the gospel. That's your job. If you can't go physically, go with your finances. If you can't go with your finances, get yourself and your life in order and get and see what God has you to do to get out of that, to where you can be an asset to the kingdom of God and not a liability and not a tag-along. You don't have to come up with something new. It's all in the Bible. It's all in there. Draw nigh unto God and He'll draw nigh unto you. I remember one time I got mad at God. I really got mad at him. And for three years I did not preach, I did not do a thing for three years. At the end of three years, God finally had enough of it and said, Terry, you have not left me. I have not left you, you have left me. Draw yourself back to me. Seek me and I will find you. Knock and I'll open the door. Come unto me, all you are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. It's time you come back home. So I did what anybody should have done, what I should have done a long time ago. I repented and asked forgiveness, apologized, and got back in. And got back in and got back closer to God, closer than I've ever been. He's my rock, my redeemer, my fortress. In him do I trust. Praise the Lord. Now I'm gonna go have a good day today because the Lord is with me. And he and I get uh have fun together. And we have a good time. God loves you. Friend, God loves you so much that he became sin for you so that you can be free from that. And you were buried with him in baptism, and when you rose again, that sin was left down in hell. He threw him as your sins as far as the east as from the west. He cast them behind his back, he put them in the sea of forget forgetfulness. God does not remember your sins. When you ask him to forgive you and cleanse you of all unrighteousness, past, present, future. Start living like you're a child of God. Not like you're going to do as much as you can do before you get caught. You have a blessed day in Jesus' name. And remember, Jesus is Lord. The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine upon you, be gracious unto you. The Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace. And you're going out and you're coming in and you're lying down and you're rising up in your work and your leisure. May you enjoy the love of God in Jesus' name. Amen.
