"The Flowers You Are Picking Today Come From the Seeds You Planted Yesterday. Don't Like Your Boquet Of Flowers? Then Change the Seeds You Are Planting Today." Chaplain Terry

Welcome And Guest Introduction

Speaker 1

Hello friend, Chaplin Terry Warner here. This is a podcast audio of Dr. Lorette Willis. She's a cognitive behaviorist. Very exciting interview with her. And you can see it on YouTube if you go to my channel youtube.com forward slash at chaplain Terry Warner. Look under videos playlist, I think is the chaplain's corner. Look for praise moves. That's the name of the video. And I posted it there. Well, you'll want to listen to this. This is really something else. So no more introduction for me. I'm gonna turn it over and we'll switch over to the audio track. Thank you very much. You have a blessed day. Hello, friend. Chaplain Terry Warner here. My guest today is Dr. Lorette Willis. She is a I I count it a behavior, cognitive behavior therapist. And she's got so much to go on. I don't want to even begin listing the times and all the things. I'm gonna turn it over to her immediately and just let her go where she wants to go, and we'll follow along. So sit back and listen, and let's get your needs met today in Jesus' name. Amen. Dr. Lorette?

Speaker 4

Well, hallelujah. Thank you so much, Chaplain Terry. It's a blessing to be here today. You know, it's not by might nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of Zechariah 4.6. You know, so if there's anything today that you feel, oh, I keep messing up, I keep making mistakes, why can't I get it right? You know, turn to the Lord because He has the answer. You know, you might find that, oh, I don't know if the Lord can use me. I've done so many wrong things in my life. Maybe you've had an abortion or a divorce or been in jail or, you know, any number of things. You had a hard childhood. And you might think, well, you know, I still have problems with substance abuse or some different things and habits that I'm ashamed of. Well, I want you to know the Lord is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us. Well, what is that power? We know the power of faith, the power of love, the power of the Holy Spirit of God Himself on the inside of our recreated human spirit. When we have the power of God on the inside of us, especially through his word, and I'll just get my little Bible here because this is so important, the Word of God. And I invite you, if you don't know Jesus personally, um I invite you to do so today because Jesus, he's not a religion. You know, that was the thing, Chaplin Terry, when I was heavily involved in the New Age spirituality and movement through the door of yoga. My mom and I got involved in it when I was just seven years old, thinking it was just exercise, but it led us into, led me into 22 years. In New Age, I was a psychic, I was a channel, I was into metaphysics, tarot cards, astrology, um crystals, I mean levitation, everything, you know, A to Z, astrology to Zoroastrianism, and everything in between, looking for God in all the wrong places. And I finally one day just came to the end of myself and I cried out to God. I was an alcoholic. I was a high-functioning alcoholic, I was an actor off Broadway, a comedian, known as the woman of 101 Voices. I did the Betty Boop Show off Broadway.

Speaker 3

I certainly did. Boop boop bee-doop. I did. Do you remember Betty Boop, Chaplin Terry?

Speaker 1

Yeah, yes, I do.

Finding Faith And Inner Healing

Speaker 4

Well, I was Betty Boop, not the original one. I mean, she was created in 1928. That's a long time ago. But I did the Betty Boop Show off Broadway portraying Betty Boop and about 40 other characters and voices. I did a lot of voice work and laughing on the outside, seeing people laugh, making them laugh, you know, enjoying that, but empty on the inside and searching. And I couldn't imagine a day without alcohol, really. I'd started as a compulsive overeater at the age of six, an emotional eater, using food to cope with my life and a lot of trauma growing up in our home. Everything seemed lovely on the outside. Uh, both my parents were attorneys. My mother was the first woman assistant district attorney on Long Island. She was also a university professor. She was a mensa, you know, for those really smart people, and she didn't really want to do that. But my dad was like, uh, you're brilliant. You should take the test. And so she did. She was okay. And my dad was also a judge. We lived on Long Island. Everything just seemed so beautiful. But on the inside, there was a there was rage, there was alcoholism, there was overeating, there was sadness. My mother was diagnosed schizophrenic and had three nervous breakdowns when I was growing up. Uh, my dad was an emotional eater. He also could fly into a rage. He was not physically abusive, but he would get, you know, enraged with things, and it was kind of scary, you know, walking on eggshells, as it were. And to cope, I used food. And so I I ask, you know, you who are listening today, have you ever done that? Have you ever um used comfort food instead of going to the comforter? And you might say, Well, I don't even know who the comforter is. Well, I think uh Chaplain Terry and I would like to introduce him to you because I said, Chaplin Terry, you know, my husband Paul and I, we were both in uh the New Age spirituality, which is a combination, a conglomeration of a lot of different beliefs. It's basically God in our image instead of the truth that we are made in the image of God, Genesis 1, 26 and 27.

Speaker 1

So Paul and the past.

Speaker 4

Yeah.

Speaker 1

And you can't you can't get down the road to the future if you if you let if you hang on to the past. You gotta forget those things. And more than forget them, you gotta do away with them. And it takes time and effort and uh a specific effort, otherwise they just get masked and you hide them. Didn't mean to interrupt you there.

Speaker 4

No, no, please do. I'm I'm happy for the uh the conversation, absolutely. Well, my husband and I, after we got saved, after we turned our lives over to the Lord Jesus, uh, we said, Why didn't anybody ever tell us we could have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ? I always thought people were talking about some kind of a religion. You know, you had to go to a certain church, believe a certain doctrine, this and that. And I was like, nah, I don't think so. Had I known a personal relationship, that's really what it's all about. And as a child, I knew that. I had a closeness with the Lord when I was little bitty, like the ages of three and a half till I was six. But then that wall comes up and there's that distance, and the enemy uses so many things to try to keep us away from God. So before we go any further, I just feel this impetus to want to ask you who's uh listening if you've been uh away from the Lord for a long time, or you say, Well, I don't even know if I'm saved, what does saved mean? Well, salvation, it's wholeness, completeness. It comes from shalom in Hebrew, peace, nothing missing, nothing broken. It's also the power that destroys chaos. That's the peace. Jesus is the prince of peace. So if you have chaos in your life, if you feel that there's a missing uh piece, a P-I-E-C-E on the inside of you, uh it may well be the missing P E or A C E peace of God. And it's a peace that only Jesus can give. But you know, Pastor Terry, one thing I love is that it's so very simple to receive uh that peace, to receive uh Jesus as our Lord and Savior, to save us from ourselves, to save us from the uh eternal torment of being apart from God, to have that closeness with the uh with the Lord. It's so simple. And I once asked the Lord, why did you make it so simple? And I believe in my heart he said to me, if it weren't simple, then the simple could not be saved.

Speaker 1

Yes. Oh, that is and the peace is the shalom. It's so much more than peace. Peace is just a a a fraction of it. We're talking complete whole wholeness and entity inside Christ. And boy, yeah, I mean, everything gets calmed down when you put shalom on things.

Salvation, Shalom, And New Beginning

Speaker 4

That's right. Everything gets calmed down when you put shalom on it. I like that. That's good. That's a t-shirt right there, I think. Everything gets worked out just right. Well, in Romans 10, verses 9 and 10 says, if you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. You will be made whole, a new heart, a new start, a new beginning. You're made a new creation in Christ Jesus right that moment. I know when I received Jesus, I felt like a huge weight lifted off me. It felt like about 30 pounds of weight that I thought was just my body on the earth. And it was the weight of sin. I didn't even believe in sin. As new agers, we were taught that sin was an acronym for self-inflicted nonsense. And why did Jesus come then? Oh, he was just a good teacher. That was the deception that we were taught. But when I came to the end of myself and I just cried out to God, I said, I surrender, I give up, you win. Jesus, if you can do something with this life, you can have it. And I wanted Jesus to be the Lord of my life. So I ask you, do you want Jesus to be the Lord of your life? I mean, just think, who else could there be? No one else, no one else. He made you, he loves you. So all you have to do is say, and I invite you to say it after me. Father God, I come to you. Father God, I come to you in the name of the Lord Jesus.

Speaker 1

In the name of the Lord Jesus.

Speaker 4

Father, you know all the mistakes I've made.

Speaker 1

You know all the mistakes I've made.

Speaker 4

You've known the sins I've committed.

Speaker 1

You know the sins I've committed.

Speaker 4

I ask you to forgive me of sin.

Speaker 1

I ask you to forgive me of your sin. Put them as far as the east as from the west. Yes. Throw them behind your back, put them in the sea of forgiveness.

Speaker 4

I want Jesus to be the Lord of my life. I believe you raised him from the dead. Jesus, come into my heart. Be my Lord, be my savior. And Father, I will love you and serve you all the rest of my days. In Jesus' name. Amen. Now, if you prayed that prayer for the first time or the first time in a long time, I invite you to reach out to Chaplain Terry and let him know. I know that he has resources that he can share with you, showing you how you can live a victorious Christian life. And did you hear in that uh Chaplain Terry how just those two little steps to ask Jesus to be the Lord of your life and believe in your heart, not in your head, but believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead. I believe that in everyone, there's that, yeah, I I don't know why I believe it, but yeah, I do. And there's a whole lot of evidence for it too, historically, more than there's evidence for Julius Caesar to have been alive, really. It's true. Yeah. So just to believe in your heart, God raising from the from the dead, that makes a difference. I I'm sure, you know, Chaplain Terry, that you have some amazing stories of people changing once they receive Jesus. Have you?

Speaker 1

Oh, yes. Well, myself, I can speak for myself big time, facing death three certain times in Vietnam. Uh it's extremely detailed and stuff. I won't go into it now. But you know, when we accept Christ and receive him into our hearts, we get the anointing of the Holy Spirit, and it's the anointing that breaks the yoke. And so that that uh weight you felt Lee was the yoke being broken off the shoulders, holding you down.

Speaker 4

Wow, that's beautiful, and that's Y-O-K-E, not Y-O-L-K, right? It's not a yoke from an egg, it's a yoke of bondage. Yeah, and Jesus says, My yoke is easy, my burden is light. His we're yoked to him, and he's he's doing the hard work.

Speaker 1

Yes, it's not what I can do for God, it's what God can do through me. Yes, that makes the difference, you know.

Speaker 4

That's true. What does it take, do you think, to be that vessel of honor that the Lord can flow through?

Testimonies And Walking With The Spirit

Speaker 1

It for me it was a it was a quality decision that I made. I used to have a terrible temper, and I would fly off, and I had a dog that would dig a hole under the fence and get away and just drive him up a wall. And I caught him one day and was uh giving him a spanking for get getting out from under the fence. And a kid, a kid across the street yelled, Mister, why don't you pick on somebody your own size? So I went inside and I was so mad, and I slammed my fist down on the recliner and I said, as of right now, I will not get upset ever again, period. And I said that about a thousand times over the next week, at least that much. And now, and then one day, one day, my words brought about the desired result. Speak to the mountain, get rid of the unbelief by your words. What comes out your mouth is what establishes where you are in life and where you are in Christ, and that's why you speak with the mouth of this the confession of salvation. And then I got mad at God one time and stayed mad at him for about three years. And yeah, a long time. And it was stupid. But when you're out of God's will, a lot you do a lot of ignorant things. So anyway, I finally came back around and the Lord confronted me about it. So I repented and got rid of it, and he accepted me back. And he's not only the God of a second chance, he's the God of the third, fourth, fifth, however many chances you need. He's the God, he's the God of it. Yes, yes.

Speaker 4

Whatever you need, he is, he not only has it, he is it. I had a pastor that used to say that one of the names of the Lord is if I don't have it, I will make it for you. You know, he is that I am God. We get to spend eternity with him. Yeah.

Speaker 1

I think about like justified, just as I, just as I, you know, that's where I've been made righteous. Not my righteousness, been made righteous with his righteousness.

Speaker 4

Yeah.

Speaker 1

And then the thing, I guess, I reached a point after fellowshipping with him and staying with him and reading the Bible. I started reading the the Bible by reading the living uh Bible paraphrase. Oh, and then after I translate I got through with that, then I went into King James and Hebrews and and all the Greek and stuff like that. But uh when I got serious about God, he got serious about me. Now that's not really true. He was serious about me before I understood it. And but nevertheless, he kept he was patient with me and he guided me around. And uh, and sometime uh we'll have to get back together, I'll explain about my dear death near death experience. I mean near death. Yeah, uh three times there and um in and uh consequently my Parkinson's I got sprayed with Asian orange, but I'm healed, I'm healed in the name of Jesus. Yes, you are and uh and so I really ign ignore it to be truthful, yes. Uh oh, one one thing that helps it a lot is exercise, diet and exercise, and golf especially helps Parkinson's tremendously. Really? Yes. So I'm 79 and I was playing right-handed. I had two little, what do you call them TIAs, which were in my right side, and I couldn't do right-handed. So I just wish and started playing left-handed.

Speaker 3

And now how do you do?

Speaker 1

I do pretty good. I shoot in the middle to high 40s. [Middle 40's to middle 50's]

Speaker 3

That's wonderful.

Speaker 1

Yeah, for 79 years old, that's not bad.

Speaker 4

Hey, hey. That's wonderful. Wow. And you know, in the realm of eternity, you know, it's it's so small, you know, when we look at that. Um, I think about a Caleb anointing. You know, Caleb in the the Old Testament, he was the one. Yeah, give me that mountain. You know, he said, I feel as good now as I did 40 years ago. You know, I'm just I'm gonna go for it. I mean, he and Joshua, he they were the ones of those uh of the spies who said, No, we're we're well able, but it's our God who's well able to do these things. But then there were the other spies who came back with the bad report, and they said, Oh, I don't know, there's giants in the lands, and and uh we're like grasshoppers in their sight, and we're grasshoppers in our own sight.

Speaker 1

Yeah, so it wasn't the giants that kept them out, it was the grasshoppers.

Speaker 4

That's right, the way they saw themselves, yeah.

Speaker 1

I my podcast for last week was Stop Wrestling God for your gifts you already have.

Speaker 4

Oh, say that again, that's good.

Speaker 1

Stop wrestling God for gifts you already have.

Speaker 4

Wow, that's good, yeah.

Speaker 1

Joshua and Caleb is the are the same character. How could they say that? Be an old testament, you know, and get into that, and and uh make sure you get your books and stuff in there during this conversation. I'll be I'll be quiet, sorry.

Identity, Faith, And Spoken Word

Speaker 4

Oh no, no, please. This is a wonderful conversation we're having. It's beautiful. Well, you know, Chaplin Terry talking about things that hold us back, things that hold us down, things that we think God can't use us because of these things. Well, from my own experience, um, having been an emotional eater from the age of six, and then getting involved in yoga and new age, and then for the next, you know, what was it, 22 years, from the ages of seven till I was 29 when I came to the end of myself. Well, the Lord has taken those weaknesses and made them into platforms of healing for others. So I say to you who's who's listening that you have a story, you have something that will give the glory to God when you allow him to use you, just as Chaplin Terry said, to be that vessel of honor that he can flow through. You know, I say to the Lord so many times, Lord, if you can use a donkey, you can use me, you know, whether it be Balaam's donkey, that talking donkey. And you know, Chaplin Terry, that that was a female donkey. So she didn't say he-ha, she said she ha. Did you know that?

Speaker 3

I made that up. But but it is a female donkey, that's true.

Speaker 4

The Balaam's donkey. But you could look at it also this way: um, Jesus riding into Jerusalem on the donkey. How would you like to be the donkey that Jesus rides in on into that situation?

Speaker 1

Oh, yes. So many times I visualize where I am in the scene when I'm reading the Bible. Are you are you the the lady with the issue of blood? Are you the the dad of the daughter that's dying? Are you just part of the crowd? That said, multitude, you're talking a thousand over a thousand people following him along. You're talking to a big crowd. And you should be your your image should be to the point where you're the body of Christ, that you're part of Jesus, that you the healing and stuff is coming through you, not through your own effort. No, it's the Holy Spirit working through you. That and that that image is so important. When, you know, I uh I got my pilot's license years ago, and the instructor saw the pilot inside of me long before I did. Once I soloed, I became I went from a student to a pilot. Well, once I got serious about God and got in studying his word, then gradually, not immediately, but gradually I hit a point where I became the teacher and the lecturer and not the the learner. We learn and learn and read and read and study and study, and we get mentally smart and we're mentally in depth. But it says it's spoken word is what brings about results.

Speaker 4

Yes.

Speaker 1

You know, and we and we we miss that. We know the Bible, we know it frontward and backwards, we can quote it, we can write it, we got all kinds of translations, but we don't know it. We hear it, but we don't know it.

Neuroscience Meets Scripture

PraiseMoves: A Christ-Centered Alternative

Speaker 4

But then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God, Romans 10, 17. And you believe more what you say than what anyone else says. So when you're speaking the word of God, that is so powerful. Every cell in your body, and one of the things I'm blessed to do, I'm a cognitive behavioral therapist, learning how to blend neuroscience with the word of God. I talk about renewing the mind on the word of God, then retraining the brain using neuroscience principles and techniques based on scripture. If I don't see a correlation in scripture, I don't use it because I want to press truth into things. And in fact, we've got a little exercise that we can do in a few minutes here that will prove it to you that actually cuts cravings in 10 to 15 seconds. So I'll share that with you in a moment. And as I was saying before about, you know, Lord, if you can use a donkey, you can you can use me. That was how, you know, when I look at the only things that qualify me for what I get to do, Chaplain Terry, are all the things I've done wrong. The Lord has turned those things, redeemed those things, turned those things around into platforms of health and healing for others. The yoga that I was involved with, you know, for so many years has become a Christ-centered alternative to yoga ministry called Praise Moves. The Lord gave me the idea for that by the grace of God on February 25th, 2001, at 10:35 in the morning. I remember it exactly. And I prayed about it for two years. I prayed and fasted because I didn't want to have anything to do with yoga, even though it was all in caps, alternative. You know, it was just like, I have avoided confrontation so much of my life. I was ruled and riddled by fear. Um, that spirit of fear that 2 Timothy 1.7 talks about, God's not given you a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and a sound mind. I thought, wow, a spirit of fear. I thought it was an emotion. I thought it was me. Then I learned you can rebuke that fear, tell it to go in the name of Jesus, in Jesus' authority, and tell it to go, and it does. But I still wasn't sure about this praise moves, it's called and praisemoves.com. People can see that we have hundreds of fitness ministers, instructors, certified praise moves instructors on six continents around the world, women and men, ages 18 to 80s, that do praise moves, that teach praise moves. We have free workouts and all kinds of things. Every posture in praise moves is assigned a scripture that we meditate upon and speak aloud while doing a stretching, strengthening posture. So I like to say that the exercise is the witty invention to get you more into the word of God and more of the word of God into you. So that's that's how praise moves works. So the Lord has been able to redeem something that was such a negative in my life. And those who, if you know, if you're someone who does yoga and say, well, wait a second, I think it's just exercise, isn't it? I invite you to look at praisemoves.com because I have a lot of evidence that shows you what the agenda for yoga truly is. In fact, the word yoga in Miriam Webster's dictionary, it's a um a Sanskrit word, meaning it it derives from India, and that's the sacred, the so-called sacred language of Hinduism. It's a Sanskrit word meaning to yoke. Remember when we talked about yoke before, but it's a different yoke, and it says it's a mystic and ascetic Hindu discipline for achieving union with the supreme spirit through prescribed postures, meditation, and breathing techniques. So, in other words, it's salvation by works and not through Jesus. And in fact, the poses in yoga, according to Dr. George Alexander, who was uh uh professor at Biola University for many years and became a friend of ours, uh, he grew up in Sri Lanka as a Christian, and he would see many yogis, you know, around him all the time. And he said, you know, the poses in yoga are offerings to the 330 million Hindu gods. So you see a twisting there of Romans 12:1 to present your body as a living sacrifice, wholly acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And they say, empty your mind, empty your mind. No, Romans 12 2, and do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by renewing your mind on the word of God so that you can prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. So I invite you to take a look at praisemoves.com. And if you have someone you love who's doing yoga and you're concerned, you know, about that, and oh, what do I say to them? Or if you're like, well, I don't know about I'm gonna have to see it for myself. I have a free download that you can check out. Um, and once you see who the Lord of yoga really is, it's Shiva, Lord, Lord Shiva the Destroyer. Yeah. And so what is a practice that is dedicated to Lord Shiva the Destroyer doing in the church of the Lord Jesus Christ? Because there is yoga, you know, done in churches. So I'm careful to let people know, Chaplin Terry, that praise moves is not so-called Christian yoga. That's an oxymoron or contradiction in terms like a Christian Buddhist or a Christian Hindu. There's no such thing, but it's a Christ-centered alternative. Um, for many years, gurus such as Swami Sivasiva Palani said in 1991 in an open letter to evangelicals in Hinduism Today magazine, he said, over the last 10 years, and this is over 30 years ago, he wrote this, over the last 10 years, an army of yoga missionaries have been sent out to the Western world, beautifully trained in Hatha, which is the type of yoga that's done in most fitness centers and churches. I was a Hatha yoga instructor and teacher, you know, the student, 22 years, right? Hatha, kundalini, raja, different types, Siddha yoga. They may not call themselves Hindus, but Hindus know where yoga comes from and where it leads. So that was said by Swami Sivasiv Palani. Yoga is the missionary arm of Hinduism and New Age. So that's why I say if you want to learn more about that, check that out. If it's at your church, if you have someone who's doing that, get that free download at praisemoves.com and just send it in an email to someone and say, Hey, could I have your feedback on this? I'd really appreciate it. This way you're not feeling like, oh, I'm I don't want to point a finger. Just say, would would you just take a look at this and give me your thoughts? Because I tell you, Chaplain Terry, once they see the truth of what it really is, you can't unsee it anymore.

Speaker 1

That's true. Uh a lot of my audience is Pakistan, Bangladesh, uh India. Uh I have I have a lot of Hindus and Muslims that I as a matter of fact, I write Bible studies for our university over in Pakistan. Uh but uh they're they are very ingrained in in everything but Christianity. You know, it's and I think about your you're talking about fear, false evidence appearing is real, is my acronym for fear. And you take get you get rid of that by taking gospel.

Yoga’s Roots And Discernment

Speaker 4

Yes, yes, that's right. That's the right kind of pill to take, a gospel. Uh-huh. Amen. Well, that's that's about praise moves, if you want to uh check that out. And we do have instructors in India as well, uh, Winner's Church in Bangalore, India, which is that city is the home of the Shiva temple with the 60-foot-tall statue to Shiva. So it's amazing. That was actually where we had the first um praise moves class. And then my negative experiences with overeating have become weight loss without willpower. That's another ministry that we have, the W3 Sisterhood, uh, we call it. And it's the idea that you can lose excess weight without dieting, without deprivation, without delay, without shame, because it's about getting rid of the weight on the inside. The reason why we use food, going to the comfort food instead of the comforter, as I mentioned earlier. What is the reason why we have the excess weight? When you start getting rid of that, the excess physical weight comes off. Like Jessica Minter, who is a friend of ours in Oklahoma City, she's dropped 70 pounds. It's been off for two and a half years. A young mom, she said, I never thought about inviting God into my weight loss journey. We like to say, don't diet, live it. It's about living the way that the Lord called us to, getting in touch with the signals that he placed in our bodies, getting in touch with true physical hunger. And if we have emotions, how to deal with them, not using food, not using substances. You know, in fact, I could do that little exercise that I told you about, Chaplain Terry, and our viewers could do this as well. Would you like to try it? All you need is a pen.

Speaker

Sure.

Weight Loss Without Willpower

Speaker 4

Okay. This is a bilateral brain stimulation technique. And it's called make the shift. And you can use anything small that you have in your hand. You can use a pen, you could use a key, you could use a little stone, a paper clip, you know, anything at all. A pen, that's perfect. Now, if you're driving, don't do this exercise yet, but come back. Come back later and do the exercise. It's the make the shift, the make the shift exercise. And it cuts cravings in 10 to 15 seconds. Now, we use it for cutting cravings to certain foods, but I believe it cuts other kinds of cravings too for different addictions because it breaks the circuit. So let's look at cravings for certain foods in particular. So I invite you to think of a food that you often go to when you want distraction or you're bored or you're sad or you're mad or you're happy or you're celebrating or you're just you just want to snack. You're not hungry, you're not physically hungry, but it's just like, um, I don't want to work on that project. I think I'll get a snack, you know, and that kind of a thing, all right? You're or you just can't seem to control yourself. Just like, I just have to have that food. That's how I lived many years, decades of my life and roller coaster dieting up and down, up and down. So you know where that food is. Is it in the cupboard? Is it in the pantry, the freezer, the refrigerator? I want you to see yourself going there using your sanctified imagination. Don't worry, we're going to cut the craving, we're going to cut that circuit, but see yourself going there. And you're just about to reach for it in your imagination. And that's where the dopamine rush comes in, where the um the chemicals are released that make you want more. And that's actually in the anticipation of something, not in the actual ingesting of it. So that's what happens. That's what we're going to cut right now. So see yourself reaching for it. Now take the pen or whatever small object is in your hand and bring it from one hand to the other, one hand to the other, one hand to the other, five, four, three, two, one. And now repeat after me, please. All things are lawful for me.

Speaker

All things are lawful for me.

Speaker 4

But not all things are helpful.

Speaker

Not all things are helpful.

Speaker 4

All things are lawful for me.

Speaker

All things are lawful for me.

Speaker 4

But I will not be brought under the power of any.

Speaker 1

But I will not be brought under the power of any.

Speaker 4

First Corinthians 6 12.

Speaker 1

Yep. First Corinthians 6 12.

Speaker 4

Chaplain Terry, where did the craving go?

Speaker 1

Do you forgot about it?

Speaker 4

Yeah, it's just totally gone. So that is a bilateral brain stimulation technique. Bilateral, two-sided brain stimulation is a technique. But then we press truth into it through the word of God. And this has brought this, in fact, that one scripture helped me drop 25 pounds. I kid you not. Because I would be reaching for a snack. My husband is one of those people who could, he could eat one MM and that's and put the rest away. It's just like, how do you do that? I'm better if I don't have any, any of it. But let's say I'm about to reach for a snack and I haven't, you know, made it part of my plan for the day. I haven't committed it to the Lord. I just like, I just want it. There's this little four-year-old child on the inside that just, I just want that's just I just the thing I want. And I'm reaching for it. Well, if I say this scripture, all things are lawful for me, but not all things are how you have to say it, not just think it. All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful. All things are lawful for me. And the most amazing thing happens through the power of that word, through the Holy Spirit of God Himself, and your recreated human spirit, that power comes up. But I will not be brought under the power of any. Being filled with all the fullness of God, that was the fullness I was looking for through that food.

Speaker 2

Yep.

Speaker 4

And the fullness of the comforter of the Holy Spirit, no comfort food can take the place of, cannot match it.

Speaker 1

And you know, I I I feel sometimes, I mean, especially when you're starting out, it's it's not gonna work every single time, but it it'll work enough if you'll stay with it, it will work every single time. Yes, just because just because things don't go the way quite the way you think they should, doesn't mean that it doesn't work or that's not right. It it's you're you're training, you're learning. You don't you don't you don't teach a two-year-old one time by pa slapping his hand, you know, yeah, but at the same time you don't slap it every time he turns around.

Speaker 4

Yeah, that's right. Yeah, it's uh if you use this, uh, because it does work, it it absolutely does work. If you if you use the you know the pen or something like that, when you feel that craving, and just I'm gonna okay, and I'm just gonna say that first Corinthians 6 12, New King James Version, I'm just going to say it, you will be amazed. It's just like, oh wow. But you see, you have to use your will to do it. Yes, that's it, because it's a free will of planet. That's how the Lord set it up. Um, but if your why is big enough, do you find this, Chaplain Terry, that when your Y, your W H Y, the reason why you want to do something, if it's big enough, you can go through just about any H O W any how to get there?

Speaker 1

Sure. I was just reading the article the other day. This guy's 28 years old and he set the world record for shooting an arrow 931 feet into the center of a bullseye. It was the world record. And they think, well, that's that's pretty amazing. But then you learn he did it be with his feet because he doesn't have any arms. 930. 931 feet in the center of the target. The broken record had been held seven years.

Speaker 4

And how many times did he do it though?

The Make-The-Shift Craving Reset

Speaker 1

He did it one, he did it that one time to break the record, but he he had no arms. Wow, he was born without arms. Nine and his how his how became bigger than his why.

Speaker 4

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1

He taught himself to do it using his feet.

Speaker 4

Amazing.

Speaker 1

And 931 feet's quite a little ways with a bow and arrow.

Speaker 4

It is, yeah. My my husband does does that. He likes that too, target shooting, and also the with the bow and the arrow. And he got me one, and I've I've used it a few times, but I'm I'm just not all that excited about it as much as as he a short story.

Speaker 1

I I used to I was trying to do something to a computer program, and my son got mad at me. This is back in the old days, and said, Why don't you learn how to program instead of trying to hack somebody else's program? So I took a course through America Online on computer programming using BASIC. And back in the movie theaters in the old days, they you sing along with a bouncing yellow ball.

Speaker 4

Oh, yeah. I remember sing along with Mitch.

Speaker 1

I yeah, I I wrote a program that did that, and they didn't think it could be done in in basic, and America Online took the program and made a training aid out of it because my how was bigger than my why. But I had people call me up asking me all kinds of computer questions, and I don't know. I did. But yes, I like that.

Speaker 4

Well, you know, I want to invite um you who are listening, if you would like to have something free. Who likes something free? We like free things, right? Uh I have something called the Christianweightlosskit.com, and it's totally free. It's a faith-fueled weight loss blueprint. And you just go to Christianweightloskit.com and it's a free mini course, and um, it has that exercise in it and several other things uh that will help you, um, and some other you know information that I think will be a blessing for you. And if you're someone that says, well, how boy, you and chaplain Terry, you just really know that word of God. You just just speak it out. It's like a it's a part of you. Would you like to learn how to meditate on the word of God? Because there's a lot said about meditation, oh, how it helps you be more peaceful and relaxed. But unfortunately, the world's idea of meditation or some mystical forms of meditation are about emptying the mind. And we don't want to do that, we want to be transformed by renewing our minds, Romans 12 on the word of God. I invite you go to go to Christian Meditationkit.com. That's Christian Meditationkit.com. And I show you in three simple steps how to meditate the word of God in a moment, and it works. It really works, it will transform you. It's it's wonderful. Well, I love being able to share what I love to do, um, Chaplain Terry, which is share the word of God because He has changed my life so much. You know, when I say He and the Word, maybe some people don't realize that Jesus is the Word of God. I'll never forget that someone said that to me. I was so amazed. I was a new believer. I was just about to be discipled. I mean, I was just, you know, brand new in the Lord. And I went to this little like coffee, um, like coffee shop, you know, gathering kind of a thing where they were singing gospel songs and and had, you know, fun humor and coffee house. And it was just like a really nice atmosphere. And as I was leaving, one of the men said to me, You know, Lorette, Jesus is the word. And I was like, it was like, what? And I tell you what, like a tennis ball on the inside of a dryer, that word went bouncing around on the inside of me for like two weeks. I was like, Jesus is the word. How does that work? Well, in John 1 1, it says, In the beginning was the word, the word was with God, the word was. Was God and verse 14 says the word became flesh and dwelt among us. The word is Jesus. Revelation 19:13 says, when Jesus comes back, which is very soon, it says, His name is the Word of God. So when you look at most books, here's a book that I I have here. It's a good, it's a good book, but this is a picture of the author. This book is a picture of the author. This, the Bible, is the author. That's the difference. So when you're opening up the word of God, you are communicating, communing, listening to, hearing the Lord.

Speaker 1

And asking I have a Bible back here behind me. And it's written, it's written in first person.

Speaker 4

Oh, beautiful. What's the name of it?

Speaker 1

It's it's uh New One New Man Bible.

Speaker 4

Oh, One New Man, yes.

Speaker 1

By Sid Roth. And then I have a the Greek interlinear.

Speaker 4

It's so funny you should tell. That's the one that I showed here. This is my Sid Roth. This is uh the supernatural. Sid Roth, supernatural Bible.

Speaker 1

But if you go to if you go to a house and you knock on the door and say, Mr. Word, Jesus had come to the door.

Speaker 4

That's right. Behold, he stands at the door and knocks.

Building Holy Habits And Will

Speaker 1

And in my in my quiet times, when I'm writing, I write Jesus. In parentheses, I'll write the word. I'll write word, I'll write the word, and then in parentheses, I'll write Jesus. To me, they're they're synonymous, they're exactly the same.

Speaker 4

That's true.

Speaker 1

He sent his word and it healed them, you know.

Free Resources And Meditation

Speaker 4

Yes, Psalm 107 20. That is so powerful. He sent his word, and you can take that personally. You know, you who are listening say, Well, I'd like healing. Well, he sent his word and healed me, you can say, and delivered me from every destruction. I like taking 1 Peter 2 24 and personalizing it. Himself, Jesus, bore my sins in his own body on the tree, that I, being dead to sin, might live unto righteousness by whose stripes I was healed. If I was healed, I am healed. I am the healed of the Lord. Well, Lorette, wait a second. I still have this, you know, this pain here or this something. No, you start instead of allowing your mind, will, and emotions to and and circumstances to dictate to your spirit, you have your spirit, the real you, through the word of God, dictate to your mind, will, emotions, body, and circumstances, and they will come into alignment. You start saying, Hey, this body is the temple of the Holy Spirit of God, according to 1 Corinthians 6 19. I was bought at a price, the precious blood of Jesus Christ. Therefore I glorify, give honor to God in my body and in my spirit, which are God's. G-O-D apostrophe S. Your body and your spirit are God's property. Oh no, what have I done with God's property? No, look at it this way. Instead, he has a vested interest in helping you to be healthy, fit, and free. Since your body's the temple of the Holy Spirit, nothing of the enemy can exist in the temple of the Most High God. Do you think that when the Shekinah glory was present in the in the temple of the Lord or in the tent in the wilderness, you know, when the when the the uh the cloud by day and the fire by night, do you think a rodent or a rat or roaches could have run through the no, nothing of the enemy can exist in the temple of the most high God. Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. So if there are any intruders in there, you say, get out in the name of Jesus, I am healed. And then start listening to what the Lord says to you. You know, Jesus, Mother Mary, said in the wedding feast of Cana, she said to the servants who uh were carrying the ferkins of water. How often do you say the word firkin? Not very often, but they're carrying that's a lot of water, fercins of water. For Jesus to perform his first miracle, which was turning the water into wine. And she said to the servants, Whatever He tells you to do, do it. So I say that to you to believe the word of God, receive the word of God, speak the word of God, thank the Lord for it, and then whatever he tells you to do, do it. If it's for healing, he might tell you start drinking more water, start moving your body, don't eat that sugar, don't eat that whatever it is. Instead, eat this. Look at this book, read this. You'll just sense the Lord saying, you know, maybe try a different doctor, go to a holistic practitioner or something like that. Look, um, you know, on different Dr. Josh Axe or um Dr. Jordan Rubin, who is uh a friend of ours, who's a wonderful man of God, uh, who talks about health. You know, look at those kind of sources, all right. Dr. Caroline Leaf, who talks about renewing the mind and retraining the brain as well. And when you start walking with the Lord and you start walking by faith and not by sight, you'll notice bit by bit, wow, my body is changing. I'm feeling different, I am healthy, fit, and free.

Speaker 1

So if we're the body, if we're the temple of the Holy Spirit, which we are, yes, yes, well, we're the body of Christ, and we don't want we don't want to be, we don't want to make the body of Christ less, yes, because we need the body of Christ to be top-notch so they can administer healing to other people.

Speaker 4

Amen.

Speaker 1

And guidance and stuff like that.

Speaker 4

That's right.

Speaker 1

This has been so neat. We gotta we'll have to have you back on.

Speaker 4

I'd love it anytime, anytime at all, Chaplin Terry. Thank you for having me.

Speaker 1

And and and thank you for getting back the trouble we had getting on to start with. That's just that's nothing but the devil.

Speaker 2

That's nothing.

Speaker 1

That's nothing but the devil. And I used to think, well, there I got a demon behind every bush. Well, get rid of get rid of it, you know. Don't don't don't cut the bush down, get rid of the demons.

Speaker 3

That's right, ain't gonna steal my joy or your peace or our joy. That's right.

Speaker 4

Yeah, if the if the devil can't steal your joy, he can't take your goods. So don't let him steal your joy.

Speaker 1

That's true. We pray that we bind the strong man first, yes, and then we then we control him from there, you know. But I think about the other day, uh the a while ago, you said about you know dying, being buried with him in baptism. We we are buried with him with sins, but we're resurrected with him righteous.

Speaker 4

That's right.

Speaker 1

And so leave leave behind what we have been redeemed from and get into what we have been redeemed into. Yeah, there's a whole new world waiting. Yeah, if you're brave enough to take it.

Speaker 4

It's true. Yeah, the scripture that um so amazed me when I meditate on it. I've been crucified with Christ, therefore I no longer live. Christ lives in me, and the life I live in the body, I live by the faith of the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me. So that is real resurrection life living on the inside of you. That is eternal life. Oh wow, yeah, unspeakable and full of glory. Hallelujah.

Speaker 3

Thank you, Chaplain Terry.

Speaker 1

Thank you so much. Well, let's you want to close with a word of prayer? Yes, I'd love to.

Healing Scriptures And Temple Mindset

Speaker 4

Please, Heavenly Father, we come to you in the name of the Lord Jesus. Lord, thank you, thank you, thank you for this precious one who's listening today. I thank you, Lord. I just stretch my hand out to them in the name of Jesus. And whatever it is that you are believing God for right now, let it be so in the name of Jesus. I invite you to cast all your cares upon the Lord right now. Give him everything that concerns you. Just cast it over on him and plant a big no-fishing sign in it. The word of God says to that God resists the proud, but he gives grace to the humble. Humble yourself, therefore, beneath the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you, that he may lift you up in due time. How do you do that? Casting all your care on him, because he cares for you. It's his job to care for you, not your job to care for yourself. You're too little, I'm too little, we're too little to care for ourselves. So give every care to him. And now, in its place where all those cares were, I invite you to receive the shalom, peace of God right now, which surpasses all understanding, that keeps and guards your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Just receive that peace filling every empty place, and now take a gentle deep breath in and exhale, saying, Hallelujah, praise the Lord. And Father, we thank you. We give you glory. When two agree as touching anything, it shall be done for them by our Father in heaven. Are you in agreement with what we prayed today? Then it is done, it is so to the glory of God in Jesus' name. And Father, we'll be careful to give you all the praise, honor, glory, and credit in Jesus' name. Amen.

Speaker 1

Amen. Thank you so much.
