Faith Over Fear

The world can feel like it is getting messier by the day, and if we are not careful, we start letting the news write our mood and fear write our choices. I open Daily Decree #5 with a simple reminder: God is not subject to turmoil, and neither is His Word. When we fixate on complaints, we miss the steadiness that Scripture offers and we forget the authority God gives us to pray, decide, and walk in light.

We anchor the conversation in Job 22:27–28, where prayer is answered and decisions carry real weight: “What you decide on will be done, and light will shine on your ways.” From there we move into the core decree from 2 Timothy 1:7, breaking down what timidity actually looks like in real life and why it is not a gift from God. The Holy Spirit does not produce cringing, cowardice, or fear-based living. He produces power, love, and a calm, well-balanced mind marked by discipline and self-control.

To make it real, we look at Timothy’s setting and the early church under persecution, with Paul under house arrest and the dangers of Nero’s rule hanging in the background. Then I bring it home with a challenge: even if you do not think you are “called to ministry,” following Jesus means you are not meant to coast. It is time to stop living on spiritual baby formula, stop hiding the Holy Spirit, and fan the embers of the gospel into a fire that changes your life and helps others find victory in Christ. Hello friend, Chaplain Terry Warner here. Thought I'd surprise you a little bit with the banjo music today. Think about deliverance or something. Anyway, we're going to be having daily decree number five. And before I get into that, you know, we keep getting into a bigger and bigger mess as this old world continues to go along. We were doing pretty good there for a while and it looked pretty promising. Now things are turning back sour again. It depending on which news you look at, though, and what you look like look at. I could go on about news and complaints about the world and everything else, but you know when you do that you miss God's word. Because God's not subject to all this turmoil and uh un and discontent. So let's take a

Job 22 Prayer And Decisions

Your foundation scripture for daily decrees is Job 22, 27 and 28. 27 says, You will make your prayer to him, and he will hear you, and you will fulfill your vows. 28 says, What you decide on will be done, and light will shine on your ways. That's the NIV. Daily decree number five.

2 Timothy 1:7 Defined

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, of cowardice, of craving. And craving, I'm gonna interject some things here. The dictionary, the Apple dictionary, contemptibly lacking in courage, cowardly, despicable, despicable, deserving hatred and contempt. The feeling that a person or a thing is beneath consideration, and cringing and fawning, fawning, displaying exaggerated flattery or affection, fear. But he has given us the spirit of power and of love and of a calm and of a well balanced mind, and discipline and self-control. That Second Timothy one seven amplified with me adding in the definitions there from the dictionary. 

Timothy Under Pressure And Persecution

If you study the life of Timothy, you will discover that he was a young pastor and was quite over quite a sizable gathering of Christians. Churches had not been organized and therefore were forced to meet secretly. Paul was under the house arrest and was subject to the whims of Nero, basically awaiting his execution. Nero is believed to set the fire that burned Rome while he played the fiddle, so he could build a new palace, but as of today this is still unproven. History records him to be some thirty five miles away from Rome. However, it is believed by some that he supplied flaming torches to drunkards and sent them off out throughout the city of Rome. We'll probably never know the truth, and they even clouded and rewrote history back in the old days, but before it was popular, to where people the leaders would not look bad. However, though, the church was under great persecution and met secretly. In most of the opinion of non-believers, Timothy could be arrested and executed quite easily. The Holy Spirit protected Timothy, and the church continued to grow rapidly, as it always has, when under persecution. That's amplified.

Grow Up In The Word

But Chaplain Terry, I haven't been called into the ministry. Maybe so. But don't expect to ride on the fire truck dressed in fire protection gear and not to be counted as a fireman. When you gave your heart and confessed Jesus to be your Lord and Savior, you were buried with him in baptism, resurrected with him in righteousness, and was sealed by the Holy Spirit to be a child of God, and seated with him in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. You are a joint heir with God. It is crucial that we, as Christians, quit drinking baby formula milk and desire and eat the meat of Jesus' word. The Word of God has been made fun of and have discredited far too long. We need to fan the embers back to a full growth fire that will destroy the unrighteousness and sinful deeds of the flesh, mainly our physical attributes of seeing, hearing, tasting, smelling, and touch. You might add your emotions in there too. Many of us live with an attitude that since I am a Christian, I can relax and automatically coast into heaven. We continue to go on hiding our Holy Spirit that was given to us by God so that we could live and walk in victory and bring others with us.

Fan The Embers And Rededicate

We or you have not been given the spirit of a coward, but you have been given the same Holy Spirit that raised him, that is Christ from the dead. It's time to fan the embers of gospel into a raging and consuming firepower, love and righteousness. Give your heart, rededicate your life, and bring to a full blaze the love and power of God into your life today. You have a blessed day in Jesus' name. Amen.
