Before Texas travels to Ohio State, the SEC already has won the first major non-conference battle of the season with the Big Ten for college football supremacy. By announcing that it will implement a nine-game conference schedule in 2026, and keep the requirement that its teams also must play at least one Power 4 non-conference opponent, the SEC one-upped the Big Ten and shut up the likes of Curt Cignetti.
