We're going to talk about what's popping out the shore, what's going on in New Jersey. I thought local people would love this episode. Cool. We love your food reviews. Yeah. And I gotta tell you, I think you're one of like I mean, bro, I've been I've been hawking the internet for a long time. You were one of the first guys I saw doing the car food reviews. Yeah. I have so many people. I don't know, like I don't know if I'm right about that, but like you're the first guy really maybe because you're local, but I just don't recall seeing anyone else doing the food reviews in the car like you.

Oh, it's great. They're amazing. They're rainbow cookies to dive for. Oh, they're one of the best in Jersey. Easily one of the best in Jersey. I have a rainbow cookie series. I haven't kept up on it, but I find the best rainbow cookies in Jersey. It's gonna get you uh it's gonna get you.

My sister-in-law's at Muller somewhere. But their donuts too. Muller's donuts are phenomenal. Really great donuts. Like really, really great. Yeah, those are probably my two favorite. Like, I love Bakers Grove.

Um everything there is great. Uh Simona's is great as well. And they're they're related. Same family. Yeah, same family in Simona. Yeah, so Simona's I live right behind there, which is Simona's a great bakery, too. Dangerous as hell. Yeah, yeah. Uh but they their chocolate fudge at Simona's, like inside of a cake, is some of the best chocolate fudge.

So I have this little like basket with all my gear. Okay. So my setup where I'm sitting is I have a tray that locks on to the steering wheel. Okay, I've seen that before. I have in my bucket or whatever I want to call it, I have different trays or different like presenting items. Like I have a an actual tray, I have a cutting board, um, I have always paper towels, I always have I buy the to-go cutlery. Okay. Like I buy those, I always have those in my car. I have car wipes, paper plates, and like plastic plates. So I have like a whole thing.

And when you're done with the meal, what do you do? Do you have a do you have a garbage bag? Do you go to a location and dump it out? Like I want to know.

I I try to give it away. So like if I have leftovers, my girlfriend's the first call. Because I'll see if she wants it. I'll try to bring it to my family if they want it. Or just friends. Like, I have people I'll just text, do you guys want this? If it's something I want to keep, I'll just put it in the freezer. Or if it's something I can put in the freezer, or I'll eat over the next day or two.

It's just, dude, it's the star of the show, and I know he's like, his cheesesteak's good, his cheeseburger's good, and by the way, great. Okay. The cheesesteak is fucking great. The burger is great. And I'm not saying there is no way, shape, or form, nothing. There's not a bad item there. No. The galley is a phenomenal place. And if you live in Nasbury Park, that's where you fucking eat. Okay. It's okay. Okay. It's amazing. If you want, you should drive. And I would recommend even driving up to a fucking hour. But the fucking goddamn Detroit style pizza at the galley is such like it's perfection. It yeah, dude, it's like um it's like trying to play golf with Tiger Woods or trying to play basketball with LeBron James. Like, it's that fucking good. It dwarfs everything else on the menu. And although all of his shit is great, that I would just, I would just double like personally, I'd be like, dude, this Detroit style pizza is so fucking good, nothing can stand next to it. And then, like, you know, because he's like, What do you think of this? What do you think of that? And I'm like, Chris, I'm sorry, but the Detroit style pizza here is so fucking good. Yeah, it's dwarfing all this other shit that because he's using the best shit, he's making the best shit, and in the hierarchy of food, like a cheat meal, I'm going for the pizza first, then the cheeseburger, and then cheese. And it's a huge menu, too. It's a big menu. Yeah, it was actually surprised. It's like a diner, it's like a Jersey diner. That's exactly what it is. Yeah, but that the Detroit style pizza, the galley, is um does it get the recognition it deserves? Yes, I don't know. I reviewed it a couple times.

I I think it does. Like that was one of my favorite the Detroit Rony is like my go-to pizza there. And I rate I forgot I rated that one really high. It's insane. It's so good. It's one of the best Detroits I've ever had, if not the best one I've had.

I just think it gets it gets a little clouded because, and I've talked about this before, southeastern Mammoth County in particular, the top to bottom lineup for pizza is some of the best in the country. Southeastern Southeastern Mammoth County. I mean, when you go from like Manisquan to Asbury Park, you got Squan Tavern, you got Qua in Manisquan. I don't know if I remember. Rosies is insane. Rosie's is kind of cool. They're our our little sister, a little brother, right? Because it's in Ocean County. But uh in the video I did, Rosie's I put in there and how many people yelled at me, it's in Ocean County.

John, so you like you talked about that you also rated pizza, whatever. So you it's real estate, but you also I've seen a couple things on your page. Like I was following you when you're talking about, you know, real estate, real estate, but then you came up with maybe like a restone or two. So you do a little bit of both.

I do uh I do a lot of everything. Okay. Uh and I think it's because real estate can be boring. Uh, you know, you can only say how great Monmouth County is so many times for people to really understand it. So about a little over a year ago, I said, what's a little bit different? Yeah. Everybody's just, you know, anybody who's talking about real estate is just talking about social media or just talking about real estate on social media. Let's start talking about what's awesome actually here. And I would do like a lot of listical videos where I'd be like, these are the top ten pizza places and go through those and go through those, and people loved it. And you would get in traction on that. Yeah. A huge amount of traction. Probably 50-50. And then when you realize that when people are actually moving here, which most people that could actually afford Monmouth County, some of them live here already, but you know, most that are coming into the area don't live here. Yeah. They have no idea what it's actually like. They don't know the best pizza place. And I remember one of the mo she's with me now as an agent, uh, Sophia. She's fantastic. But when she moved down here from Brooklyn in 2017, we used to text all the time, like this this Greek place is awesome because she's great. Uh all the you know, this this spot, go here, go try this. And basically I just took all that and said, you know what, let me just start pouring it out to the world, bring the information to the people. That's it. And people love it. So then they work with you more, uh, and then at the same time you're helping local business owners out. Yeah. I like that.

Because I think it's like a it's a balance, like giving the local businesses even a spotlight without saying, oh, by the way, give me some money, I'm gonna spotlight you. Like you're just doing it because you want to give the information out, and it's places that you love, you know. So it's not like you're just doing it to film a place to get paid or to get recognition, you're doing it of the places that you enjoy going to. Yeah, and that's I think is the biggest part. Yeah, right.

La Madonna is the pizzeria I'm talking about. Not bad. And then um Espositos is also very good. Espositos is awesome. Yeah, yeah, it is. It's that's like Murder's Row and Pizza, man. It's insane. Yeah. When like the Nino's is around and there's other people you talk about. And then um Brooklyn Square just opened up.

Well, I think Western Monmouth County in general, the food scene in the last 15 years is completely different. Yeah. Like when I'm wild. Like I started in 2008 and I've lived here my whole life. It was a barren desert out in Western Monmouth County. Like you would be on a couple places on Route 9, couple spots, you know, a couple good pizzerias and whatnot, but the food scene there is I think exploded. It did. A lot of people that came from Staten Island, they opened up restaurants and got a lot of people.

Month County in general, I think, because now I've traveled around the state, I would put it top five counties for food in Jersey. Like it's easy. Yeah. Easy. I mean, I I would put it higher. I don't know, but there's so I mean Jersey, we have we're very underestimated for our food in general. Yeah. But like Mammoth County really kills the st like is like really one of the best in the state by far. I agree.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. But um, yeah, moved to Jersey when I was 10, Fort Lee. So I was in North Jersey for first part of my life and then central.

Uh well, I went to the International Sommelier Guild, which is a different, it's just an all-encompassing diploma. Okay. But I'd be somewhere between a level two and three in the quartermasters.

So you were a Psalm and then you came back to Jersey? Yeah, so basically I was a psalm. I live, you know, living in Vegas is not easy lifestyle lived within the restaurant industry. So I was just burning out. And like I needed a change. And I thought, oh, an accountant, like I'm gonna go back to school for my master's degree in something. I can't I had this weird idea that accountant would be just kind of like not an easy job, but like I wanted nine to five, I wanted simple, I wanted a regular everyday life, and just because the lifestyle the other way was too much for me. Okay, yeah. So I started doing that toward the end of my time in Vegas, but the idea was to move back to Jersey. Okay. So I came back to Jersey. I was miserable as being an accountant because I hated it. It doesn't sound fun, it's not fun. No, you know, but you but you wanted boring. I wanted boring and realized I don't want boring. Okay. So like while I was bored. No. So while I was bored, I'd started making food videos, like cooking videos on Instagram. Like that's how the page started was doing cooking videos. Like, all right, this is fun. It's like a creative outlet to do something different. I saw people who do what I do now, just started, just decided to try it, and it just took off.

Listen, there's there's a lot of there's a lot of people that say they're from Monmouth County, but they've lived here for 15, 20 years, which is okay, valid at a certain point, but I like to you know, I guess I'm getting older in age uh myself, so it actually is impressive. You know, almost 40 years of living here in this county. Grew up in uh Homedale, uh moved to Spring Lake Heights about 13, 14 years ago, and then uh moved to Wall about six years ago in the middle pandemic. Okay. So uh yeah, lived in Monmouth County every day of my life.

And when it gets easier, things take off. And then you you take market share, and then your business actually grows. And this is when you build a pipeline.

Yeah, if you want to make an offer, like, yeah, I'm going in at list price, like, yeah, and what else you got? Like that's a starting point. I know. And you used to offer a list price, it was like, oh, you meant business. I I want offer price, yeah. The list price, whatever it is. And it's not like that anymore.

And I was like, this Jabroni doesn't know shit. Yeah. And he got 500,000 views on his video, just sitting there, like a putz.

Wow, nice. That's that's not easy. I don't know. Especially at that time, I I had never made a video before. So now like if I had to do it again, I could probably do it pretty because I could sit in my car and just rattle off videos like psycho now.

Ultimately, what happened was uh a couple years go by, and then early last year is where everything really, really took off. That's where Instagram and Facebook went nuts. Um and uh the first video on Instagram that absolutely blew up, it was it was literally just me putting on more clothes. I was like, I told my wife, I was like, I know this sounds really stupid, just record me for a minute, and I kept putting on more and more clothes, more and more clothes. And then I cut it up, it was right after the Super Bowl with Kendrick Lamar, so the um popular song that he sang at the time was trending. And uh it was uh POV, everybody in New Jersey getting their uh gas bill this month. Because if you remember, that was right after gas prices, uh natural gas prices spiked uh in 2025, and that went to like three or four million views. No shit. Uh in that stupid six-second video, I don't want to say changed everything, but that was the first thing that really exploded. It opened up like okay on Instagram.

And with Instagram and Facebook, it honestly I tell people because I coach people across the country that do this as well, you need one video to take off. And it doesn't mean like it's not like a lottery, it's just you need one to start going. But if you post one and it takes off to like one, two, three million views and goes crazy, that's all you need. And then just go from there, see what makes people tick, and that's you know, that's what I've done.
